(00:24):
show for you today. It's a Friday, which means it's

the SEC slate, the NFL slate. Jameis Winston had one
of the most impactful pregame interviews of my life. We'll
get to that. We have a week Longhord Weekly with
Coach Shark. Segment six. You know, he breaks it down

(00:45):
for him about how the Kentucky game is gonna go.
It's also an Inconceivable Football Friday or Florida Man Football Friday.
So I've gone high and low. It is my favorite
day of the week. Is my favorite day of the
week because we do Florida Man Friday. And I'm going
to get you guys excited. That's the plan for today.

(01:09):
A lot of stuff going on. We're gonna hit Texas
men's basketball had a big win yesterday against the Syracuse Orange.
They take on Saint Joseph's tonight APM pre game eight
thirty pm. Tip off right here on Sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred Zone and on Cavet FM as well. Craig
Way will come to us in about an hour three seventeen.

(01:30):
Set your clocks to it. He's coming to us live
from Brooklyn. He's gonna preview that game. And of course
we got to talk about Texas and Kentucky. That is
right tomorrow SEC matchup. It's Senior Day at DKR Memorial Field.
It's gonna be exciting. Two thirty pm. Kickoff again right
here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred the Zone. Get

(01:51):
ready for it. It's Longhorn Game Day as well. Eleven
thirty for that with Cameron Parker, Mike Harboll Harje and
the world's strongest man, Mark Henry. But the breaking news
out of today was one Daniel Jones. After getting paid
all of that money, Daniel Jones is now out as

(02:11):
the starting quarterback for the New York Football Giants. Let's
hit it. Number seven cut number seven, Daniel Jones. He
is no longer the quarterback for the Giants. This was
his goodbye press conference.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Let's see, the opportunity to play for the New York
Giants was truly a dream come true, and I'm extremely
grateful to the Mare and Tish families for the chance
to play here. The Giants are truly a first class organization,
and I have nothing but genuine respect and appreciation for
the people who have built it and who helped carry
on that tradition. I've met so many special people and
creative relationships that will truly last a lifetime. Thank you

(02:46):
to all my teammates, coaches, and staff. They've done so
much for me these past six years. There have been
some great times, but of course we all wish there
have been more of those. I take full responsibility for
my part and not bringing more wins. No one wanted
to win those win more games worse than me, and
I gave everything I had on the field and in

(03:06):
my preparation. Of course, this season has been disappointing for all,
and of course I wish I could have done more.
I'm one hundred percent accountable for my part. I did
not play well. I did not play well enough, consistently
enough to help the team get the results. The reality
of the NFL is it's hard to win games and
requires consistent performance from everyone involved. We didn't do that

(03:30):
well enough, so the idea to change something happens. And
I understand. I love the game, i love being part
of a team. I'm excited for the next opportunity and
know that there's a lot of good football in front
of me, and I'm excited about that.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Dale Jones will go down as one of the worst
quarterbacks in New York Giants' history. The move ends a
six year run. He was a number six overall pick
in twenty nineteen. He finishes with an the abysmal record
of twenty two forty four and one seventy touchdown to
go along with his forty seven interceptions. Now this all

(04:04):
comes after the Giants society to bench Daniel Jones today
or I should say correction this week Monday, in favor
of Tommy DeVito. That should have been the writing on
the wall that we knew that this was going to
be the end of Daniel Jones. To put a cherry
on top. However, we saw Daniel Jones yesterday playing safety
for the scout team. That is right, you had your

(04:26):
number four string quarterback playing safety on the scout team.
That tells you all you need to know. Now the
real question becomes, where does he go from here? I
was very much hoping that we would get the funniest
result on Thursday Night Football, when we could have Cooper
Rush versus Daniel Jones in a Thanksgiving game, when everybody's

(04:48):
supposably tuned in for the game, that we could end
up seeing Daniel Jones on primetime. Not the case. He's
now cut from the Giants. So now the second funniest
thing could happen. The Dallas Cowboy have made a lot
of head scratching moves in their time. This would be
the funniest move they could possibly make, which is signing
Daniel Jones. But if they were to do that, it

(05:10):
would cost some team, could be the Cowboys, could be
somebody else. It would cost them twelve million dollars to
have him for the remainder of the season. If you remember,
he signed a four year contract back in twenty twenty
three for sixty million dollars. I always said the best
job possible is to be a disgraced former college football coach,

(05:34):
because you get the payout and you get to kind
of do whatever you want to do. Dane Jones might
have the second best job now because he doesn't have
to go get hit, he doesn't have to go to practice,
doesn't have to learn a playbook. He's gonna get paid
millions of dollars to essentially just hang out. And a
lot of people were kind of throwing some dirt on
Dale Jones's name. ESPN made their joke. Steve they Spent
had his jokes. They said that the entire press conference

(05:57):
could have taken sixty seconds. Hey, guys, already, I got
paid all that money and stunk it up. I went
through and I looked who is the worst quarterback in
Giants' history. I've looked high, I've looked low. It's not
Scott Berner, who is Phil Simms backup in eighty two
and eighty three who threw eleven interceptions in six starts.

(06:20):
It might be Craig Morton, who played a few games
for the Giants ended up throwing twenty touchdowns with thirty
six interceptions. I'm still gonna go on a limb and say,
Eli Manning. I made the case for him to go
into the Hall of Fame yesterday as a first ballot
Hall of Famer because of all of the incredible moments
he brought to the city of New York with a

(06:41):
helmet catch and knocking off the Pats and everything else.
Those last couple of seasons were abysmal to watch, all right.
So Texas men's basketball yesterday they take on Syracuse. They
had a big one in that game. Trey Johnson led
the way for the Longhorns and scoring sixteen points along
with Arthur Kuma, who had sixteen as well. Kuma had

(07:06):
better game, sixteen points on six to eleven shooting, but
the story turned her into Tramian Mark, who we did
not know if he was going to play or not,
if he was going to get his first games under
his belt as a Longhorn, and he did. He got
his first shot up yesterday, cut eleven. This is his
first bucket. Craig Way on the call to Julian Larry
back to glooma double team to John Tremont Mark. His

(07:29):
first shot is a long horn is a three pointer,
and Tremon Mark berries the three. Now. Mark didn't play
a lot less yesterday, finished with six points, two to
five shooting from the field in nineteen minutes of action,
but The big takeaway from this game was the way
that the Longhorns were able to rebound the basketball twenty
seven total. Yeah, well, let's see thirty five total rebounds

(07:52):
in this game out rebound Syracuse that had a larger,
more dominating presence down low. Now, I thought, and a
lot of people thought, I think that Texas and Texas
Tech could end up playing each other tonight in the
Legends Classic. Not the case. Saint Joseph's barely knocks off
Texas Tech yesterday seventy eight to seventy seven. So that

(08:15):
is the team that Texas will be facing off tonight,
eight thirty pre am tip, eight pm pre game right
here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. So
we'll be curious to see how that one goes from
the Barclays Center. It should be a pretty good one.
I'm hoping that it's a good one, at least because
Craig Way has been living it up in New York City.
We'll talk to him in about an hour. Coming up

(08:37):
next Longhorn Weekly with Coach Sark. We have a great
interview that Roger Wallas was able to get yesterday previewing
the Kentucky game. This Saturday. You're not going to miss it.
We're gonna come back with more in a moment. Andrew
Zimbile filling in for the legendary Craigway on The Craigway
