all right, so let's get into it. College football weekend,

(00:22):
and it wouldn't be a collegetable weekend if we didn't
talk a little recruiting. That is right, as many of
the top players in the country have started selecting their teams. Now,
what's interesting is that Julian Lewis is the number two
prospect according to ESPN dot com when it comes to
the position of quarterback. He announced his commitment yesterday on

(00:47):
the Pack McAfee show. This is Cut fifteen.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Julian Juju Lewis will be playing football for whom next year.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Brother I will be continuing and continuing in an academic
career as.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
The University of Colorado. Huge for Dion Sanders, Huge for Colorado.
This is the biggest prospect that Dion has been able
to get since he was able to flip Travis Hunter
back in twenty twelve, he was able to get to
a craction that twenty twelve, twenty twenty two, let's get

(01:24):
it right, twenty twenty two, he was able to flip
Hunter from Florida State to Jackson State. Hunter was the
number two overall prospect in that class. This is the
highest ranked Buffalo edition since Darrell Scott was the number
nine overall prospect in the two thousand and eight class.
If things weren't going good enough in Colorado, this is

(01:48):
the icing on the cake. The quarterback from Georgia marks
and momentous recruiting victory for Dion Sanders, and it makes
a huge, to me, huge win for Colorado fans. Now,
there are a few Colorado fans who jumped on the bandwagon,
guys who are Deon Sanders fans, and they were very

(02:09):
loud last season as the Buffalo continued to lose games.
This year, however, eight and two, sixteen in the College
Football rankings and the last polls that came out on Tuesday,
they're knocking on the door. This is a team that,
if things shake their right way, could be a playoff
team any year two under Dion. Now, of course, myself

(02:29):
and many others were considering Deon Sanders a lock to
go to the NFL. However, with this edition of Lewis,
this makes me think that one of two things are true.
Either Deon Sanders lied to this kid, or Deon Sanders
is not leaving Colorado for the foreseeable future. I tend
to lean to the latter. I think that Deon Sanders

(02:49):
is staying in Colorado for the long term, that he's
actually building something in bolder Colorado which is ginormal. Not
only for the Big twelve, we'll get to that here
in a second, but for Deon Sanders, because for the
longest time it was bark bark, bark, no bite, and
now you potentially have a guy who can back up

(03:11):
what he is selling. It's easy to win football games
when your quarterback is your kid, and he might be
the best quarterback in the country. It's easier to win
games that way. But if you can bring in a
high school kid who's a five star and convince him
not only to come to your program, but convince him
not to go to USC, that's big. Lincoln Riley usually

(03:32):
always gets the best prospects he couldn't keep Julian Lewis.
The other reason that I say this is big for Colorado.
It's big for the Big Twelve. The Big Twelve after
losing Texas and Oklahoma is then the water that's a
revenue machine those two schools. It brought intrigue to the conference.

(03:53):
They leave. Colorado steps in.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Now.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Granted it's not the money making machine that Texas, No,
you are, nobody is, but they are are there. Colorado
could be the national brand that makes people tune in
the Big Twelve games. Hey, I'm watching a Colorado game.
I happen to see a good Texas tech player Haim
watching Colorado game. I happen to see a really good
game between Arizona and them. This is big. Colorado has

(04:18):
their work cutout for him as well. They play a
tough game this weekend against Arizona State winner, probably knocking
on the door for a College FOOTBA playoff. Birst. We'll
see how Colorado does this weekend. Another big commitment. This
is let's get it. This is cut number sixteen. This
is breaking news Yesterday by Adam Schefner.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Bryce Underwood, ESPN's number one recruit in the class of
twenty twenty five, is flipping his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines.
He told school officials today a huge day for Michigan
head football coach Sharon Moore as they land the highest

(05:00):
recruiting school.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
History giant Now Underwood six foot four two ten from Michigan.
He originally had committed to LSU and Brian Kelly. If
things could get worse for Kelly right as his LSU
Tigers continue to struggle, Underwood signs on. If he decides
the side with the Wolverines on December fourth, he'll be

(05:23):
the first number one recruit to join Michigan since the
program in defensive tackle o Vershawn Gray back in twenty sixteen.
Underwood would also join defensive back to Real Peppers and
Dax Hill as the only five star prospects to land
in ann Arbor since two thousand and six. So more,
after taking over the program from Jim Harbaugh, it was like, Okay,

(05:48):
how do we fill these shoes? How do we move
forward from here? He has done a pretty good job
of landing a big recruit in his first recruiting class.
But this goes back to what Steve star kingstre was
talking about earlier this week when it comes to recruiting
positively recruiting. This is Sark six. Starks six talking about
how you have to build relationships with different players to

(06:10):
make sure that they don't don't go in the transfer port,
let's Stark six. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
I think it's just that, you know, we're a big
relationship based organization and that's top down. You know, my
relationships with our coaches, our staff, our recruiting department, our
our training staff. Mean, everybody is really well connected in
our building and that permeates all the way through our players,
and that starts in recruiting and so you know, I

(06:36):
know there's a lot of different ways to recruit in
a lot of a lot of ways where it's you know,
you just try to, you know, have twenty four to
forty eight hours at the greatest time of somebody's life
and hope they commit to you. We're kind of about
the long haul and as much as some things get
made and how we recruit and some of the flash
and things that we do with cars or whatnot, but

(06:57):
the reality of it is the substance and the foundation
to what we do is about the relationships that we
forge and it's what the It's with the prospective student athlete,
it's with their parents, it's with their coaches, and I
think over time, you know that that is what people
are looking for, and not everyone is a perfect fit
for us, and guys choose to go to other schools,

(07:18):
and I respect that and that's fine. But as long
as we have the opportunity to really kind of put
our best foot forward and to start some of that
relationship building, I always feel like we got a pretty
good chance to land the right types of kids around here.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
You know, we we.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Definitely want to recruit really talented players, but we never
we never want to sacrifice character for talent. And the
only way you can find out about the character if
somebody is over time. And so I think that that's
something that we've we've really tried to work on doing.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
And that, to me is the bottom line. The great
coaches in college football are building relationships with players, not
only as those players come to their school and suit
up for them now, but in the future as well.
When we come back, we wrap up our two of
the Craig Ways show, Keep the Ball Moving down the
