Speaker 1 (00:00):
Speaking of big ones, there's big games in college football
this Saturday. UH ESPN is Bill Conley, whose work we've
talked about in the past. He's listed one of the
biggest games, but he does it in a different way.
For example, he lists games in different categories. One of
(00:20):
those categories is for at large playoff bids, so he
lists those, and he said, we won't know the official
CFP rankings until Tuesday nine, that's tonight, but it's safe
to say that the loss for any of these teams
except Georgia maybe Notre Dame, would be an absolute catastrophe.
He's talking about ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson, Miami,
(00:47):
Notre Dame, SMU, Alabama, Indiana. So anyway, there's there's that.
He said in their all state playoff predictor for teams
playoff odds fall by at least fourteen percentage points. Ole
Miss down fifty six point three, Alabama down thirty three
point seven, Colorado down thirty point two, and BYU down fourteen.
(01:11):
I'm not sure I believe Old Miss odds are really
down to six point two percent to get in, but
the Rebels obviously need a lot of help to back
up to catch back up, and anyone who loses in
Week fourteen won't have much time to get any help. Okay,
a group of five playoff bid. Oregon State is at
Boise State Friday at noon, Memphis is at Tulane. The
(01:33):
only Thanksgiving night college game is Memphis tu Lane. They've
just kind of given it up to the NFL now
because I think Dolphins and Packers are Thanksgiving Night.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
They've kind of just given that up.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
The Egg Bowl has moved to Friday, and that used
to be Thursday night Texas Texas A and M used
to be and then UTSA is playing at Army Saturday
at noon. I think Army is pretty much out of
it anyway, He said it'd be interesting to see how
far Army falls and Tuesday night ranking after getting roughed
up by Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
All right in the SEC real quick on on that
delay game. That's a sneaky game crag because Talane can
get the ten wins now. Of course, they'll still have
to win the American Conference Championship game over Army over Army,
but if they do that and maybe Boise State slips up,
Delane could end up taking away that group of five
bid from Boise State.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
I think it would have to take. It have to
take two things. First of all, Tulane would have to
beat number twenty three Memphis. It'd be a good win
and it isn't a home They'd have to win that
and obviously win the Conference US I mean the American
Conference championship game over Army.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
That's one the other boys. He has to do a
nose dive. Gotta lose. They have to lose on Friday. Yeah,
they have to lose.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
They have to lose to Oregon State, and then I
think they have to lose really the Mountain West. I
don't think they'll fall far enough to fall past Tulane.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Delane's two losses by the way number seventeen Kansas State
by a touchdown and then at the fifteen Oklahoma game
in which they only shalt by a few points in
the fourth quarter before costs the interceptions. Yeah, two ranked losses.
And remember Boise States losses to the number one team
in the country.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Right now at war again by three points.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Yes, so that's why it's keeping it they I think
they have to lose twice. Yeah, yeah, I think they'd
have to lose in that mount West championship game and
as well as lose to Oregon State. If those two
things happen in Tulane wins out or if Army wins out.
Because remember the Army Navy game. We've talked about this,
The Army Navy game comes week after the playoff. It
(03:35):
does not factor into the playoff. An Army at worst
would be a three loss team anyway. So I mean,
you know, I'm talking about, oh my gosh, forelock no, because
that game won't factor in because it comes the week
after the thing.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
You know.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
In almost almost not quite, it almost started to be
talked about as being a detriment to the two Service
Academy by playing that game afterwards, that they wouldn't get
the data point they helped them out on that. Well
that's the route they chose when they chose to be
the final game of the regular season.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
But it's not gonna matter anyway. Yeah, so I don't
want see Army. They stink, stink, stink. They're they're what
are they now? Nine and one? Yeah? They did absolutely
they did okay.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
In Texas, Texas A and M, they list the win
probabilities Texas sixty four percent. It says Georgia was in
the clubhouse at six and two in SEC play, but
needed a pretty unlikely set of results to clinch a
spot in the SEC title game. I mean, there's no
way that al Man was going to lose Oklahoma right on,
Calm Trayer, Dammit ole Miss both fell the four and
(04:50):
three in the league standings, and with the Dogs set
up perfectly to win tie breakers against either Texas if
the Long Warne lose A and M or Tennessee. The
balls beat fan of that was that George's in and
we'll play the winner of Texas and Texas A and M.
So they talk about, you know that kind of thing.
So uh, anyway, all right, so there's the deal with that.
(05:14):
And then and then I I agree with him on
this and I kind of spoke to it with Andrew Monica.
The word mulligan, he said, the SEC championship bid, by
the way, indirectly gives Georgia a mulligan if the if
the Bulldogs lose to Georgia Tech over the weekend, they
could theoretically fall out of a playoff spot, and then
(05:37):
they probably should. But then if they beat Texas or
Texas A and M the next week, the right back
inn would they buy you know, well, maybe they wouldn't
get a buck.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
I'm curious, like, what would the committee do because they
have three losses?
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Three losses? Would you give a three loss team? Would
they be ranked higher than say a two loss Big
twelve at that point?
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Maybe not, maybe not, but they'd be in. That'd be interesting.
He said.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
They probably won't lose to Tech, of course, but if
you watch you mass run for two hundred and twenty
six yards against Georgia on Saturday, you at least had
a brief version of TeX's Burley run game fighting success
and dictating the clock. All right, So then my favorite
one to look at is the Big Twelve. We have Oklahoma,
State of Colorado, West Virginia, Texas Tech, Kansas at Baylor,
(06:20):
Arizona State at Arizona, TC at Cincinnati, Kansas State at
Iowa State, and Houston and BYU.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Now listen to this.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
At this exact moment, he said, we've got four six
and two teams in Big twelve play Arizona State, BYU,
Colorado and Iowa State, and five five and three teams Baylor,
Kansas State, TCU Tech, and West Virginia. An official Big
twelve release Sunday proclaimed that all nine schools could still
reach the Big Twelve Championship game. If all the projected
(06:54):
favorites win, we get Arizona State BYU.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
And the Big Twelve Championship Game.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
If the four, six and two teams were all finished
seven to two, we get Arizona State against Iowa State.
But let's think even bigger. If Iowa State loses to
Kansas State, that's the game we all know is Farmageddon.
If Iowa State loses to Kansas State, Colorado loses the
word Oklahoma State.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
See that's where it goes off the rails. That's not empty.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
But if Colorado should lose to Oklahoma State, Arizona State
loses to Arizona BYU loses to Houston, TCU beat Cincinnati,
and Baylor beats Kansas Get ready, folks, you're gonna have
an eight way tie for first place. And he said,
if I understand the tie breakers correctly, that will either
(07:42):
give US Baylor against Kansas State, if West Virginia beachs Tech,
or Baylor against Texas Tech.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
If Tech beats West Virginia.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Sp plus says there's only a zero point one percent
chance of this happening, but don't listen to sp plus
sp plus as a hater.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Follow your dreams.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
What imagine Baylor Jech wound up in the Big twelve
championship after all of that.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
After all the stuff that Baylor have gone through this season?
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yeah yeah, how Betty would that be? Wow? That's your
Big twelve. That's your new minor ce. That's why we
can't have nice things, you know.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
All right, we're gonna talk some more basketball coming up
here on Sports Radio A and thirteen Hunderd Zone in
the IR Radio app.
