I'm interested in those tickets to see Ghost and the
(01:51):
keyword is merry and then your name is entered. That's
how you do it. How we do it With our
good friend and sideline reporter Will Matthews the Long one
Radio Network, he has the opportunity to sit down with
a variety of longhorns. Today he had a chance to
chat with the one hundred eighty six yard man Trey Weisner.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Oh, I'm super excited about this as an ex running
back to see Trey wise and do what he did
against an M. And you've been building to this. You
said your twenty two carries it was hurting. Thirty three
carries definitely hurting. But talk about your old line and
(02:33):
the offense and how you guys have matured into really
a running team. Man.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
You know, coming coming into the fall, we lose in
your Baxter. So you know that that kind of it
kind of shook the running back room a little bit.
Not not as much as it scared us, but it's like,
you know, all right, now can go out adversity and
then we lose another back, then we lose another backshit.
You know, just coming from a running back perspective, I
know it definitely shook usself as as far as you know,
all right, now we gotta get going. And then you know,
(03:00):
just talking about our old line, man, they definitely I
wouldn't even say they came along way because it's been
in them, you know, but they needed that. They needed
that trust from the running back room, them quarterbacks, the receiver,
they needed that trust. And you know, as the season
went on, we just we bought into them. We bought
into them and let them know that you know, we
got y'all back through it all. You know, every time
(03:20):
I touched the field with my own line, I tell
them I'm which, I'm with you ten toes on which
every time, no matter if it's practice, game, anything, walk
through you just gotta I really have to learn like
our old line makes everything go. You know that that's
who get the quarterback the ball that's who you know,
so just telling it, like letting them know, like each
and every play, it starts with y'all. You know when
(03:42):
we got y'all.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Definitely I saw even pregame at the A and M game,
you walked around even to defensive players and dapping them off,
telling them what's up and shakes like all of that.
And coach Starkists talked about you being a teammates teammate
what about you makes you really want to take on
that leadership?
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Bro?
Speaker 4 (04:00):
You know, it all goes back to me being the
oldest child in my household. You know, more mom and
dad go to work and we get out of school.
I'm the one that had to take her little brother
and sisters. So, you know, playing that leadership role. I
sort of touched into it at an early age, but
as I start doing it around a bunch of grown men,
it shows you everybody's going through something, you know, and
(04:21):
to be in order to be a real leader, you
have to go through some of yourself. So you know,
as any even if I'm going through something, I'm still
tapping into others, you know, talking about things besides football,
real life situations, your life. That that's what really helped
me tap into that leadership role.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Is that is that how you work through all of
the pressures of the game. I mean, I know it
can be tough, media, fans, students, everything, but it seems
like you've leaning on your brothers and allowed them to
lean on you.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Definitely.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Yeah, that that that that definitely plays a big role
inside of my life on you know, tapping into other people,
because last year we had a bunch of vents and
that's really where I took it from. I would tap
into the vis I would ask them certain questions like
how you do this, how do you do that? How
you so you were asking like this, like like literal,
real life questions, like whenever practice was over, it was
(05:14):
never about practice. I'll watch the film and we'll talk
about that later on dear film.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
But after football, I.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Want to talk about life because for me, for me,
bald is life, but life is life. At the end
of the day, your life is your life. You know,
how you go about your life is how your life
is going to go about you. So I try to
I try to be real big on tapping into others
and others tapping into me.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Taking that that spirit of tapping into your brothers and
helping them and then helping you. You guys have an
incredible opportunity that you've been getting ready for a full
long time. This isn't just today. Congratulations on that success,
but what what are you looking for? What what can
we expect from the Longhorns offense and the team.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
We're definitely coming in with a mind said that we
earned this, you know, cause so I've been telling him
this every ever since we ow we lost to Georgia.
He's been he's been keep pounding it on this. You know,
in order to play them again, you're gonna have to
earn it. So you know, from from that loss on
to this point. So coming up Saturday, we still gotta
we We we earned this mindset, you know, from some
(06:17):
summer workouts to win, the workouts to spring ball, you know,
all them hard hours.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
We earned this.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
So you know, when you earn some you gotta go
take it. We gotta go take it.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
And looking into this game, last question, how excited are
you for what you have been able to do and
and you being such a great team and excited for
your team?
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Yeah, man, I and true be told I can't stop
thinking about it because from the area where I'm from,
exp And I know it's a bunch of more athletes
like this, but you don't really get these opportunities, you know,
And it's I know, it's a bunch of my business
on the team that never thought they had had this
opportunity too, So you know, the excitement is definitely out
of the roof. Just to be able to go in
(06:59):
there with a group of guys that I'm tight with
that I know we're all walking by the faith that guy.
We all got each other's back, is definitely very exciting.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Tray, thank you for your time and good luck this weekend.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
All right, there's the conversation with Trey Weisner and what
a big contribution he has made and how he has
just taken command of things down the stretch for Texas
in this regular season. They're going to need him. They're
definitely going to need him come Saturday in Atlanta against
(07:34):
the Georgia Bulldogs. They're going to need him to have
a big game. And not only him. I mean, one
thing that Sark had talked about was the updated overall
play of his running backs. So anyway, so anyway, we
will be back to wrap it up here on Sports
Radio Am thirteen under the zone of the iHeartRadio app
