Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the program on Sports Radio
AM thirteen under the Zone. My name is Craig White.
Thank you very much for joining us this afternoon. Us,
of course, includes the producer of the program, Cameron D. Parker.
The D on the birth certificate stands for Dallas and
said his favorite pro football team, which he pretty much
has refused to watch, although he did watch them in
(00:20):
the game against watching him or No, what was the
game you watched?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
I don't remember.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
But they're playing tonight. They're playing the Cincinnati Bengals. Its
that Simpson weird vibe game thing.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Simpson.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah, the ESPN is doing it. It's kind of like, uh.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Oh, they're not doing another one of those weird spinoff
things in a different channel.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yeah, yeah, it's one of those deals. Did you just
see the promo with a girl in the ESPN is
doing all this stuff that weird that she does.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
So let me ask you this, what person on this
planet who is already not invested in watching Monday night
football is going to go, oh a Simpson's multicast. I'm in,
I'm down, Okay, I want to see Joe and Bert
and Homer and no, no, no, one there's nobody. There's nobody,
(01:06):
nobody's thinking that.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Okay, let me put it to you this way. You're
a long suffering Dallas Cowboys fan, you know, watching the
way the Cowboys would play this season, wouldn't you at
least give some thought to viewing them in an alternate
universe so to speak? They did.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
They put Jerrake Jones in an alternate uniforseh see, I
would now if it's Manning cast as, Okay, I can
learn to them a football. You're probably gonna have some
good guests on. Belichick who's gonna announce he's gonna be
the unc head coach on the show? Probably you gotta
have Michael Irving or Troy Aikman on. But Simpson's multicast,
I mean, it's almost as bad as the Nickelodeon Slime Game.
It's kind of like that.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
It's kind of like that that's going on. But the
Cowboys are playing the Bengals tonight. Hey, we've got a
lot to get to on the program this afternoon. We're
glad to have you with us. First of all, as always,
we avail ourselves to you. If you like to text
the program, you're certainly welcome to do that. All you
have to do is you text the word texas, that
(02:03):
word texas follow by your questioner comment to eight one
five three zero. Again, you text the word texts followed
by your preace. If you want to say, hey, I
think Alabama should have been a playoff, not SMU or whatever,
so and so should have been seated high or anything
that's on your mind. Keep it family oriented, please you
text us. You text the word texts follow by that
(02:25):
question or comment to eight one five three zero. Standard
messaging and data rates may apply. You can also reach
us via the talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app. If
you don't already have the iHeart Radio app. Very easy
to do. You just download, it's free, it's easy, and
then you pull up AM thirteen under the zone. You
do that on the search, it pops right up and
you'll see two buttons on there. One is a white
(02:47):
button like a little triangle. You would press that just
to listen to the show. But there's another one next
to it's a red button with a little white microphone.
You push that button and then you can leave us
a message up to thirty seconds on the talk back.
And if you do that, well, Eric again family programming
there to try to keep that clean. But that's a
couple of ways you can reach out to us among
(03:07):
the topics to get to. We're gonna hear from Long
Wrne head coach Steve Sarkisian. Now that the College Football
Playoff bracket is out, so there's no more speculation about
who might be in and who could be in, and
who should be in and who should not. The bracket
is out, and that of course includes the Texas positioning
as the number five seed, the highest ranked highest seeded
(03:32):
team that doesn't receive a first round by and they're
actually finished number three ranking in it, but because of
the guaranteed spots that were gobbled up by Boise State
and Arizona State, the Long Orange wind up as the
five seat, and so that means they will have a
(03:53):
home game in this first time ever of the twelve
team Playoff, first year of it where there will actually
be on campus home games, the Longhorns will have one
of those, and it comes up on Saturday, December twenty first,
it'll be a week from this Saturday, and they'll play
the Clemson Tigers. It'll be the first time Texas has
ever played Clemson in football, and it will have a
(04:13):
three o'clock kickoff three o'clock in the afternoon. Shouldn't be
any grumbling about start times on that too early or
at night, but it might be cold or whatever, three
in the afternoon on Saturday December twenty first, and of
course we'll have it for you here on your long
Orange station Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred zone as well
as on ninety eight point one fmk vetts, so we'll
(04:35):
have it on that at one o three point one FM.
So all all three of those signals will have the
broadcast and our coverage will begin at noon. I'm assuming
Cameron Parker that you'll be right back at the hook.
Come hang out a Bevo Boulevard there at the winship Circle.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Yeah, I think myself. Hardball and Mark Henry the crew returns.
So you know, great job done by by Hardball down
the fort for us last Saturday at Third Base with
Rod Baber's Lifetime Long Corn and your former co host
Craig and Card Karen member DBU and then Norm Wonkins
another Lifetime Long Corn as also a fantastic show and
hopefully they will be a part of the fold going forward.
(05:16):
But yeah, the plan is myself hardball and Mark Henry
and all his fans coming down asking for pictures will
be at Hookam hang out on Beava Boulevard come December
twenty first at noon.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Now I understand and I'm right there with you. By
the way, Long Wrn fans, So those are disappointed. The
Long Wars did not win the Southeastern Conference Championship hard
fall game. They lose in overtime the Georgia twenty two
to nineteen. So they don't earn the conference championship in
the first year, and they don't receive the first round
by and then the trip to New Orleans to play
in the Sugar Bowl. That won't happen. However, again the
(05:49):
highest ranked team that isn't receiving a bye, they will
get a home playoff game, which is the first time
ever for the college football Playoff to do that.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
So that's kind of exciting.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
So we get to it run it back one more time,
one more home game at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium, so
that'll be cool and looking looking forward to that. And
then if they win, then you're in the quarterfinals and
it's onto Atlanta. Back to Atlanta for the Chick fil
a Peach Bowl. It'd be the first time that Texas
will have played in the Peach Bowl, and they would
(06:18):
play the Arizona State Sun Devils, champions of the Big
Twelve Conference. I've been telling you about Arizona State for
some time. They've really been coming on. Kenny Dillingham has
done an amazing job there for a team that was
picked to finish in dead last place in the Big
Twelve and they win the whole deal. They have a
really talented freshman quarterback in Sam Levitt, and they have
(06:40):
who I think is one of the best running backs
in the country and who I think should have been
the offensive player of the year in the Big Twelve.
Both Skataboo excuse me, a Cams Kataboo, Cameron's Kataboo, who
had a massive game there in the game in Arlington.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
We have a handful handful of former Long Corns players
on their roster too.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yeah. Yeah, So it could be a lot of fun
a matchup with Arizona State in Atlanta, and then, of course,
if they win that, then it's to the semifinals in
all probability to face the Oregon Ducks in Arlington at
Jerry World. After it looked for all the worlds that
Texas might have to go to Miami and the Orange Bowl.
But maybe that's one of the blessings in the Skies
(07:22):
right now of not winning the SEC is that they
could wind up. Now I still have to deal probably
with Oregon, but if you get to the final four,
then it's just up the road in Arlington and Jerry
World to play there. So anyway, the path is out there.
And I guess what I'm saying is and I had
several Long Worn fans reach out to me yesterday or
(07:42):
say hi to me and everything when I was on
the floor for the basketball game against Yukon. And that's
a different story than the travel adventures and all that
other kind of stuff. But there were folks saying, you know,
I like our path. I like our path they're talking
about as long worn fans. It's it's a workable path
(08:03):
for Texas. They've got to get guys healthy and they've
got guys banged up. And again we're going to hear
from Long wrn's head coach Steve Sarkisian about that. Coming up,
we'll talk more about the college football playoffs. Yes, we
need to discuss the National Football League in addition to
the Cowboys, how about that Rams Bills. Oh my damodness,
it produced something that falls into our inconceivable file. Not
(08:23):
the Josh Allen numbers. Those are almost inconceivable by themselves.
First first man in NFL history to pass for three
touchdowns and run for three touchdowns in the same game,
and yet the Rams won. As a Rams fan, so
excited about that. But there's other things to discuss in
the NFL as well, and we'll get to all of
that your questions as well. And also, I know it's
(08:49):
probably not in your mind right now it's a college
and or NFL football fan, But Baseball's Winter Meetings are
underway in Dallas, and there's already been a blockbuster signing.
You've probably heard by now that Juan Soto is leaving
New York for New York. He's leaving the Yankees for
the Mets. But Gene Watson, our man, our MLB insider
(09:11):
from the Chicago White Sox front office, will join us
in the four o'clock hour. There may have been more
happening by the time we get to Geno, and we'll
talk about the things that are going on so far
at the Baseball Winter Meetings and the Baseball Winter Meetings
were crossing my mind because I stated a different hotel
than from the team hotel in Atlanta. I stayed at
the Marriott Marquee, and the first time I stayed there
(09:33):
was nineteen eighty nine, which would have been what thirty
five years ago? I guess nineteen eighty nine covering the
Baseball Winter meetings for KRLD. That was the winter meetings
where the Texas Rangers got Nolan Ryan, Julio Franco, and
royfail Palmero. All during those Winter meetings in eighty nine,
it seemed like every time I turned around, there was
a news conference coming up. So that went through my
(09:54):
mind when I was at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis of
the weekend. All right, coming up, we'll hear from long
Warts head coach Steve Sarkesian on this Longhorns Monday. It
is a Long Worns Monday. Even though there was new
press conference this morning, there was that zoom to hear
from sark from yesterday upon the announcement of Texas being
in the college football Playoff as the number five seed.
We'll get to that and more here on Sports Radio
(10:15):
AM thirteen under the Zone, where you always listen to
us for free on the iHeartRadio app.
