Speaker 1 (00:00):
I've always been a big Bob Seeker fan. So now,
is any of his stuff considered a hot rock.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Night moves?

Speaker 1 (00:08):
No, No, that's a that's that's definitely a classic rock tune.
Maybe you'll accompany me because that's off of a later album.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
I think that's off of the Against the Win album.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Maybe maybe that, But he was clearly a rocker throughout
his career, so it might be kind.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Of probably don't want to be considered No.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
No, he's he has an appreciation of of of all
genres of music. He isn't as adamantly opposed to the
labeling of it as say a Donald Fagan of Steely
dan Is, you know. And I think that's because those
who are opposed to it are probably they feel like

(00:59):
it maybe cheapens or over commercializes, or you know, that
kind of thing to to their music that they put
And I understand that. But for me, I like the
designation of it because there are certain elements of every
artist that's in yacht rock, just about everyone that I like,

(01:22):
other and air Supply and just about every artist that
I like. There are some elements of some artists some
work that I'm not real crazy about. Now, Steely Dan's
an exception that I pretty much like all of their catalog.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
There's very little that I don't like.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Through the yacht Rock documentary, I didn't realize how kind
of snobby they were. And it came to who they
worked with, yeah, and what studio musicians they would.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Have very particular, very particular, And that's part of what
made Steely Dan so good. They wanted their session musicians
to be top flight. Who was it that said, Uh,
what's the album Asia?

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:58):
They said They said in the documentary on HBO yacht
Rock that if you wanted to test out your stereo system,
you would play that album and if it sounded good,
then you knew it's a good sound system.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
If it didn't, you knew because if you've, if you've
ever listened to that album all the way through, you
would understand it.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
With the much varied.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
UH offerings on that Uh Asia itself, the title cut
is probably as classic yacht rock to that and Deacon
Blues Are are probably the two classic gout rock offerings
off of that. But Black Cow and what's the other
one I'm thinking of, Josie? Those are those are good

(02:43):
you know rock and tunes off of that so anyway,
it's uh, yeah, I think it's a good that's probably
a good test. As always, we offer up our text
line to you and you're certainly welcome to access us
via the text and the way you do it is
you text the word Texas followed by your question or

(03:05):
comment to eight one five three zero. So you have
your question or comment, you simply text the word Texas
followed by your question or comment to eight one five
three zero. Standard messaging and data rates may apply now
toward that end, this this falls into the category I

(03:29):
was going to go into, and that is the long
worn football team and their future scheduling. Because we had
somebody on the text line who Texas right out of
the gate when the show began, who asked the question,
Actually this.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Was yesterday, somehow just slipped by missed this one.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
They said, will we get a whole new slate of
SEC opponents after next season? The answer is yes. The
keywords there are after next season. So yeah, that's that's
the key. Because all of the return games for twenty

(04:12):
twenty four are on track for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
So we kind of know who we're not going to
play obviously, who's in the schedule now except for Oklahoma
at A and M. But also, I don't think we're
going to see Alabama the next two years. Yeah, good chance.
We do see Ole Miss and LSU though, yeah, if
not both, at least one of those.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Well, and that's what we don't know yet is exactly
you know what the twenty twenty six season schedule will
look like now it the twenty twenty five schedule was revealed,
and the twenty twenty five schedule, as you know, opens

(04:52):
with Ohio State in Columbus on August thirtieth, then San
Jose stayed at home on September sixth, and then UTEP
on September thirteenth. Then there'll be an open date the
first bye week, and then Sam Houston at home on
September twenty seventh. Then begins SCC play October fourth in Gainesville,

(05:13):
Florida against Florida. You need to know right now, the
Texas Long Wriners do not have a home game in
the month of October. They are the designated home team
for the matchup with Oklahoma in Dallas, but they are
at Florida on October fourth. They have the Oklahoma game
on October eleventh. They play at Kentucky on October sixteenth.

(05:39):
October eighteenth, excuse me, They play at Mississippi State on
October twenty fifth. Then they come home and play Vanderbilt
at home on November first. They have a second bye
week before going to Athens, Georgia to play at Georgia
on November fifteenth. They have Arkansas at home on November
twenty second, and then they finished with Texas A and
M at home on the satura of Thanksgiving weekend November

(06:02):
twenty ninth. So they played back to back rival games
to close out the regular season, both games at home.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Remember they played all.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Three of the rival opponents away from Austin this past season.
They played, of course Oklahoma game is always in Dallas,
and then they played Arkansas on November sixteenth in Fayettvilla,
and Texas A and M in College Station on November thirtieth.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
So those last three games are tough, Greg.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Yeah, George, Arkansas, Texas A and M.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
But everybody looked at the other grind and said, hey,
you know Oklahoma. They thought Oklahoma was going to be
a big grinder, followed by the Georgia and then then
they went to Vanderbilt after that. So it's gonna be
interesting to see how that ultimately ultimately plays out. But
to answer the question, yes, they will get a whole

(06:52):
new set of SEC opponents. Now, I don't know if
that means Alabama will be on the schedule or not.
I don't know if it means LSU will be on
the schedule or not, or Auburn. I would say probably
one or the other Alabama or Auburn would play, probably
one or the other LSU or Ole miss Probably one

(07:13):
or the other Missouri or South Carolina would be on it,
I think, and probably one or the other Tennessee.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
And who am I leaving out? I don't think I'm
leaving anybody else.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Maybe maybe that is everybody else that that would be
on there, So maybe Tennessee's I don't know.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
It's going to be interesting to see with regard to that.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Also, yesterday and this happened Auburn, I said, probably either
Alabama or Auburn, probably one or the other. Probably I said,
either Missouri or South Carolina. Probably either Ole Miss or LSU.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
That's all them.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Yeah, And if you factor in what you know, if
there's traditional rivalry, I said, in maybe Tennessee don't know.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
Yeh uh, So we'll see how that that.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
So, Yes to the question yesterday, Yeah, there'll be a
whole new slate of SEC opponents after next season. CB
said that yesterday is the you can say good night
to this one in prodigious cloud or my favorite Craig sayings,
I've never heard you say that, which one? Uh, prodigious cloud.
You know what that's from, the reason why you're saying that?

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Oh boy, story time.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yeah, two thousand and nine College World Series.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Texas is.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
In the bracket final against Arizona State. They had already
beaten Arizona State earlier in the series. Arizona State had
Mike Leak, remember him, and pitched the big leagues and
they were up six to nothing on the log Hoorns
I think in the second inning on that game, and
Texas came back to win that and then they played
again in the bracket final. Now, had Texas lost, they

(09:00):
would have had to play one more time the next day.
LSU was waiting on the other side for the winner.
Texas trailed three to two going to the bottom of
the ninth and I think, yeah, I don't even think
there was one out. I think Cameron Rupp was leading
off and he hit a ball that went dead straight

(09:21):
out of Rosenblatt Stadium, over the center field fence and
went down the hill and disappeared into the smoke of
the barbecue grills down there. It just disappeared into the
night and the thing and and talking about because it
was well in excess of four hundred feet, probably about
four hundred and fifty foot and in describing it, I said,
a prodigious clout. And then the next guy to come

(09:47):
up was Connor Row, the center fielder, a slap hitter,
and he just managed to slap one right in the
first row of the grand Ston Efforts and it was
a walk off in Jexas won the ball game four
to three, back to back home runs. One that was
a monstrous shody, prodigious clout from from Cameron Rubb.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Cam and I have talked about this a couple of
times when I've seen him.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
He was a volunteer assistant for a while and then
he was at other schools, and we've laughed about that
because he heard an awful lot about that prodigious clout thing,
and and I think he got a copy of it.
It was just something that came out of my mouth
at the time. And then and then uh and then
like I said, that kind of roe hit the other one.
So that's that's where that comes from. The prodigious cloud thing.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
It's there's there's an article on burn Origination about this.
I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Really, Yeah, what about prodigious cloud. Yeah, okay, I didn't
know it either.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah. Uh, well that's what it came from.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
And Seebe says, Oh, by the way, I've had to
make shoulder multiple times since it's been back. We had
that story yesterday about the McRib and whether it was
a rib or you know.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
He said, it's not.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Really a rib. It's pork's shoulder, is what it is.
And CBS had it multiple times. I had it the
other night for the first time this year. And so anyway,
let's hear from Let's let's hear from Tremont Mark, who
had a big game for Texas last night and seems
to be getting more and more comfortable in his time,
and he helped the long Horns get the win last

(11:21):
night over New Mexico State. Tonight for the Longhorns, part
of that team effort, and Tremon four to six from
the floor three of five from three point range, fourteen
point seven rebounds. I hadn't described to me tremont As
that you seem to get washed in the game and
that you were very, very comfortable out there. Did you
feel likewise, Uh?

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Yes, I did.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
I just feel like I just doing what my team
needed me to do. Play defense, a guard, make shots
when I'm open, pass and I feel like I escued it.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
That's and a good team win. How difficult was it
for you? We know what an athlete you are, what
a player you are to have to go through what
you went through with the ankle and be patient, which
is kind of hard, didn't it.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Yeah, it was very hard.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
It was very hard just coming back from that injury.
You know, you always feel like first coming back from
an injury, you can just do so many things because
you feel better, but it's not it's not like that.
You gotta work your way in and I did have
a hard time at that, but I'm feeling way better
than and I'm feeling feeling good.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
So yeah, being an older guy, you feel like once
you hit the conference, you can help these guys, these
younger guys, and make them aware of what's ahead of
them and just.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Oh, for sure.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
I've already let everybody know what kind of conference this is.
So like and they and they're they're we're ready for
We're going.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
To go into one hundred full speeding and get and.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Get ready for Take Treminta, how about your first semester
here in Austin, How things go for you, not only
just academically, but adjusting to the lifestyle here in Austin
and everything?

Speaker 3 (12:50):
It was good.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
I love Austin.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
My sister went here, she graduated from here, so I've
always been around here and I love I love the
city of Austin City.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
I know a lot of people I've seen you here,
appreciate the time. Tremont sir, Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
I have a good night.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
All right there it is Tremon Mark and uh yeah,
you can just see him starting to get more and
more comfortable and uh, like I said.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Lost in the game a little bit.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
We'll hear Rodney Terry talk about that coming up next hour,
up next inconceivable for a Friday afternoon, and you know
what that means. When we continue here on sports Radio
