The Texas Longhorns and dancing in the College Football Playoff
are thanks to Cameron Parker, who, as always diligently puts
together the highlight montage. Cam is not with us today.
You know, he's been grinding and I do mean grinding
late some what so I should laughed. The flu is
(05:48):
never a laughing matter. But he has come down with
the flu, but he still cranked that out. So I'm
indebted to him. I appreciate Cameron Parker doing that for
us as he battles the flu bug and got through it.
So good afternoon. Welcome to the program here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen under the Zone. My name is Craig Way.
(06:08):
Glad to have you with us. If I'm saying us
and Cam not is not here, that means we have
someone else that we have the inimitable Ronald Savage with
us here producing. So glad to have Ronald on board
with us here this afternoon. So this is the one
show that we have prior to Christmas, because everybody's off
tomorrow on Christmas Day, Christmas even Christmas Day, and we'll
(06:30):
be back on Thursday and we'll have regular programs on
Thursday and Friday. So what we try to do is
just kind of compartmentalize all of what we have to
talk about into today's one show as we go up
until five o'clock. So here's what we have to run
down today, obviously recapping the Texas Clemson game and winning
(06:51):
in the college football Playoff, first ever playoff win for
Texas on a weekend of first ever campus site playoff games.
So we'll look at those other games as well, and
I head to the Chick fil A Peach Bowl in Atlanta,
which will be the quarterfinal round of the college football Playoff.
As Texas will take on the Arizona State Sun Devils,
(07:12):
and we'll get more into the sun Devils later in
the week. My good friend Tim Heees, the play by
play voice of the sun Devils, will join us later
in the week as well, so we'll get more into that.
But this will be a little more review in the
talking about the playoff of roll.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
So there's that.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Then there's the NFL Dallas Cowboys. Yeah, one last night
and looked pretty good. It never trailed any I guess
said late in the game did and then came back
and won. So no held on, I guess held on
in one.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
But they.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
They were very impressive, considering in fact, they had been
eliminated from playoff contention earlier in the day by the
Washington win at home over Philadelphia, so the Cowboys were
out of it. So maybe they did play a little
more relaxed, who knows, but they look really good for
a lot of the game against the Tampa Bay team
that had been hot. And now that Tampa Bay has lost,
(08:09):
they're not in control their own destiny now because they're
tied with Atlanta leading the NFC South at eight and seven,
so there's that. And of course Atlanta has swept Tampa Bay,
so that was big, So we'll get into that. In
the other NFL that's high school football state champions crowned
and we have a new one, a first timer from
(08:30):
the Greater Austin area, the Vandergrift Vipers. Congratulations to the
Vipers winning the sixth A Division two state championship on
Saturday afternoon at at and T Stadium in Arlington, beating
the perennial giant South Lake Carol twenty four to seventeen
and coming up in a few minutes, Drew Sanders, head
coach of the Vipers, will join us to recap that
(08:50):
and talking about the first ever state football championship at
vandergrefv Also, congratulations of Westlake on a great year.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
It did come to a conclusion.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
With a law to just a machine like incredibly powerful, strong,
fast North Crowley team that beat the likes of Allen
and then Duncanville and then Westlake in the finals, and
North Crowley wins its first ever sixth A title, So
it ended the West Lakes season there fourteen too, but
a great season for Tony Salazar's team. So those are
some of the topics. We've got some other things to
(09:20):
get to. But up next we're going to visit with
Drew Sanders, head coach of the Vandy rid Vipers.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
We'll do that. We'll get more into the Longhorn win
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Over Clemson as well, and the NFL all that and
more when we continue on AM thirteen under the zone
of the iHeartRadio app.
