Speaker 1 (00:00):
There is Money Night football game tonight with the Packers
playing the Saints. Saints are kind of in the same position,
well not kind of they are, They're in the same
position the Cowboys in that are in and that is
basically to play the role of spoiler and for pride
because they will not be in the playoffs. The Packers,
on the other hand, are trying to improve their wild
(00:23):
card because the first of all, they can clinch the
playoffs pobably win the night, and they can do that,
then they can actually improve their playoff positioning in the
law coach, because right now, if it ended, they'd be
like in the sixth seed because it is so clogged
up in the NFC North between the Lions and the Vikings,
(00:47):
both of them are thirteen and two, and the Packers
can draw a little bit closer to all that with
a win. But remember the Lions and Vikings have to
play each other last game of the year. Now I
believe the Vikings and let's see, I think the Packers
play the Bears next week and then the Lions and
the Vikings play the last game of the year, so
(01:11):
that could be not only for the division title, and
it's nice twin division titles. In the NFL, it is,
but what they're looking for is the number one seed
because remember this, the four division champions in each conference
draw first round bys or not first round by excuse me.
They draw the seeds where they'll have home games. They'll
(01:34):
all have home games, and as it stands in the AFC,
the Chiefs are going to have home field throughout the playoffs.
But Buffalo has won the East, and then that battle
in the North is still there between Pittsburgh and Baltimore
(01:57):
after the Ravens beat the Steelers the other night, and
then in the South, the Texans of Clinton the playoffs
pot and they're looking to wrap up the vision. In
the NFC, the South is up for grabs because of
Tampa Bay's lost to the Cowboys last night, so.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
It's Tampa Bay is tied with Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
They're both eight and seven, but Atlanta swept Tampa Bay
during the year, so they have they hold the tie
break on It's similar to the Rams deal with the Seahawks,
which you'll get to in a minute, but Atlanta holds
the tie break there. But Atlanta has to play up
Washington this week. It's a big game and I think
(02:37):
the Bucks have a slightly better closing schedule, so we'll
see how that winds up. Philadelphia is obviously going to
win the East. Either de twiter Minnesota is going to
win the North. The team that does not win the
North that loses that game if they go into it
tiede and they want to if the team that loses
that game. And here's the importance of the old thing,
they drop from a one seed to a five seed
(02:58):
because the top four seeds your division winners. So either
Minnesota or Detroit is going to win the NFC North,
and whoever doesn't win that game win the division is
not only not going to be the one seed overall,
they go from being the number one overall seed to
being the number five seed and having to play on
the road.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
So there's that. So there's a lot at stake on that.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
And then in the West, the Rams hold a one
game lead on Seattle. Los Angeles also holds the tie
break on the Seahawks. They have beaten them, but they
do have to play them one more time. They play
Arizona first, and that's on Saturday Night. That got flexed
in the Saturday Night Cardinals and forty nine Ers were
both eliminated yesterday, so we'll see what kind of mindset
(03:45):
the Cardinals have. As the Rams win that game and
maintain that one game lead on Seattle, they're.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
In position to win the division there.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
So there's still quite a bit to be determined over
these final three final two ball games of the regular season.
The Rams close at home against both the Cardinals and
then the Seahawks. That Lions Vikings game should be box office.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
It should be really.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Something to see how that ultimately winds up. There are
some really impactful games that are still to be played
involving these teams, so both in the NFC and the AFC,
so it's gonna be a lot of fun to watch.
And even the Cowboys can continue to try to play spoiler.
And that's the situation that the Saints are in with
the Packers today. By the way, in the bowl game,
(04:33):
they're in the second overtime. Northern Illinois actually holds a
twenty eight twenty lead over Fresno State. Fresny's let almost
the whole game when they have them and tied, but
now Fresno has a fourth and nine, so they're gonna
have to do it all right, So we get ready
to wrap it all up. And thank goodness, my man
(04:53):
Ronald picked up on my tradition. He knew that out
of all of the Christmas song, the Christmas carols and
all of those things.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
This is my all time favorite. It's Nat King cole
Jack with the Christmas song.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
It was my dad's favorites, and I liked it. On
this kid, I didn't think about it, but then the
further I got away from it over time, and then
my father passed away back a little over thirty years ago,
but it kind of came back to me and I,
you know, it started to resonate again, especially as I
became a father and all that. So anyway, by the way,
(05:35):
it has gone final in that bowl game, Northern Nilla,
Norway wins over Fresno, who stayed in overtime, two overtimes,
two overtimes. They went it twenty eight to twenty in
double overtime. All right, Really hope that your holiday season
goes well and we'll be back and we'll be ready
(05:57):
to go the day after Christmas on the twenty sixth.
So just came through a very busy week with all
the state championship joined. Six of the state championship games
and it was a Texas women's game last week, and
then obviously the Longhorns College FOOTBA playoff game against Clemson,
and so we will transition in getting ready for the
(06:19):
college football Playoff quarterfinal at the Peach Bowl.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
