Speaker 1 (00:00):
We welcome you to the program here on sports Radio
AM thirteen under the Zone. My name is Craig Way.
Glad to have you with us. We're with you up
until five o'clock this afternoon. We have today's show and
tomorrow's show, and then things will get a little weird
and off kilter a little bit, because remember the early
(00:21):
part of next week is heading into the bowl game
for the Texas Long Ones in the Chick fil A
Peach Bowl, the quarter final round of the college football
playoffs is we'll take on the Arizona State Sun Devils,
and there's a media day on Monday, and then Tuesday,
we're off here on Tuesday that's gonna be the final
coaches press conference, and then of course the game is
(00:45):
you know, right in early noon, straight up noon on Wednesday.
So anyway, that's what it's like this time of year,
the holiday season. Anyway, you just kind of, you know,
kind of navigate it. And it's especially or difficult to
navigate it if you're under the weather. And as you know,
(01:05):
from what I mentioned on the air on Monday that
we were without our producer, we were without Cameron D. Parker,
and you know, normally the D on the birth certificate
stands for Dallas, as in his favorite pro football team
that he refuses to watch, although they played what I
thought was their best game of the season on Sunday
(01:25):
night and beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that didn't
matter at the time. See the D for Cameron on
Monday might have stood for dehydrated or delusional with fever,
but he tells me he didn't have any real fever.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
You were ill, and I'm glad you're back. I'm glad
you're feeling better. I know you're not one hundred percent
What would you say, seventy five eighty percent.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Where you were? Yes, somewhere in that range.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Okay, all right, Well I'm glad to have you back.
So what would tell people exactly when he hit you?
What you were there?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Because you were at the game Saturday. You did you did?
Speaker 1 (02:01):
You did our long Orange Game Day show last Saturday.
You and Mike Hardball hard and Mark Henry. You did
it from Winschip Circle over there and the hook them
hang out of Bevo Boulevard. You did the full show, right,
and then you were gonna sit in your seat with
your dad to watch the game, right.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, your dad seats who knows, who knows? I can't
confirm either or not Friday and Friday's show filling in
for you. You know, kind of fell in my throat.
But you know, it's the time of the year, weather change, allergies.
I'm sure sater is a prevalent problem right now because
we are in Texas yet Saturday, you know, got all
(02:41):
the good, the good vibes of body aches chills during
our Longhorns game day show and saw the first half
of Texas Clemson. I felt pretty good going in the halftime,
especially after quin you weres found Gunner Helm down the
seamen to the end zone. Twenty eight ten scored halftime,
you know, probably could have been thirty five seven, But
you know, I digress, thought, Okay, I need to go home.
(03:02):
I need to get some day quell. By the way,
the D probably stands for day quill because I've drinkn
a lot of day will go lately to the behest
of my stomach. Went home, and you know, in between,
you know, kind of delusional awakenings. Saw that it was
a one score game at one point in the second half,
but did see Texas kind of hold on in the
fourth quarter and separate themselves as Jaydon Blue separated himself
(03:26):
from the Clemson defense on that seventy seventy yard touchdown run,
got a victory, and then you.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Know, and then Clemson came back down the field, yeah,
threatening to make it a one score game again when
Texas had the goal line stand that.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
And that pretty much locked things up at that point.
And your fourth down call was tremendous, I believe you
say it was. You compare compared it back to the
A and M stop, which was the stop of the season,
but then this was the stop of the season. It's
been updated, been upsdated.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
That's a lear Field the network, not the long worn
radio network from there, but the entire liar of Field
network fall on Alpha to name it their call of
the wow. So they they played it as the call
of the week there for that. Actually it wasn't the
fourth down calade. It was the James Blue touchdown. Oh,
call of the week. That's right now that I think
about it. Somebody sent me an email on it and
(04:13):
I saw it or a link to him. Oh okay,
all right, nice get a chosen for a couple of them.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
So that was fine.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
That was cool, But anyway, So then you were watching,
but you were still not feeling well on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
No, no, and not through Sunday Monday. You know, they
finally got me on Tamma flu and all that. But
you know, we're there. I'm not contagious, by the way,
no fever to them, I don't think so. So it's
all right, It's all right, but we're getting back there.
You know. Last Steve Sarkishan says, no one is healthy
this time of the year, right, everybody's banged up in
one way or another.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah, nobody's under percent. They're just they're just trying to
get there. We'll talk about this obviously, this Peach Bowl
matchup with Arizona State tomorrow. By the way, on the program,
Tim Healy played by play voice of the Arizona State
Sun Devil's a long time friend of mine.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
We'll we'll join us.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Well, we'll laugh about the fact that I actually spotted
for him when they played Texas State back in September
on that Thursday, and that was a whale of a
ball game too. Texas they could have won that ball game.
But anyway, we'll visit with Tim ware. There's a ball
game going on right now nine minutes to go in
the first half, and Pittsburgh is leading Toledo in what's
(05:21):
called the Game Above Sports. Bowl that used to be
known as the Quick Laying Bowls, the one in Detroit
that's always played day after Christmas. It's called the What
Bowl Game Above Sports. So all right, so I'm we're
gonna do a little guests that we're gonna do a
little bowl.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
We're gonna do a little bit.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Guess the bull sponsor today, Okay, So don't look it up.
Game Above Sports. That's what it's called. Don't don't, don't,
don't don't look up the deal. So we're gonna do
some of that coming up here, and we'll talk about
the game itself, the one in Atlanta. It's coming up
next Wednesday, Texas and Arizona State. Le's talk about the
other ball games. Aggies are playing tonight, you know, they're
(05:59):
in Las Vegas to take on USC.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
There's other bowl games, so we'll talk about all that.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
There's some off season baseball signing stuff going on, and
then there's the pro football now in your state of
infirm yesterday.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
First of all, do you have Netflix? I do? Okay,
So did you watch the NFL games here and there,
here and there. I mean they weren't really much of
a games. Yeah right, fortunately, but.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
The Chiefs Steelers was sixteen to ten early fourth, so
it was still a game. But the Steelers just kicked
a field goal to pull within sixteen ten, and then
the Chiefs went on drive, scored a touchdown, got the
ball back on a turnover, Firemooth fumbled, they covered it,
took it.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
In for another and then boom, it was over. It
was done.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
The Ravens Texans never was much of a game other
than the two points the Texans put on the board
even the first half. Yeah, yeah, other than that, this
wasn't much and the Ravens were kind of back on
the beam a little bit.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Good day for Longhorns though, Xavi, you're worthy another touchdown.
He's becoming a big part of that Chiefs offense. And
then Justin Tucker a parapet the yard field goals has
not missed since the bye week. So yeah, people who
are pronouncing him dead, looks like he's still got some
life in him. That's good to know.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Okay, So the Xavier Worthy thing, and I'm not going
to put this in inconceivable, I'll just say it right
now we're talking about did you see what he got
flagged for?
Speaker 2 (07:27):
It sounds like a celebration. If it's got to be
a celebration.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
It was a celebration now. I saw a replay of it,
but it was so brief. Later, I was driving at
the time and heard the call. I was up in
play up there by Dallas. Lynn and I were up
there for at her daughter's house and that's where we
had a family gathering Christmas meal yesterday. But I was driving,
(07:52):
We're driving from the hotel of An to their house,
and I heard the call, like on network radio, and
they were saying that he kind of enacted or re
enacted the Grinch, like stealing presence or something. That's something
I don't but it drew a penalty as a result
(08:13):
of it.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
You're gonna have to twitter this. Yeah, it's a weird deal.
So anyway, he didn't jump into the pot, right, because
if you jump into the kettle, the Salvation Army kettle,
that's a vine. I asked the sequeliot about it. You'll
get fined for that. I thought they changed that rule
because of what the cause is for. Okay, I see
worthy kind of raised his jersey kind of showing like,
(08:33):
oh hey, I'm caring, I'm loaded. Yeah, I got the
clock on me.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah, it kind of looks like, oh okay, all right,
that makes more sense.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah, yeah, that that. Yeah, you're gonna draw. You're gonna
draw a penalty for that anyway.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
So so yeah, there, but there's some other things about
those two games, and there's two telecasts we need to
get to as well. So Pittsburgh is leading twelve to
six on top of Toledo, and that is about eight
fifty to go first half of that. So anyway we'll
get to we'll get to hold of that. We've got
a lot of other things, uh, to get to on
the program. We do have Inconceivable, a holiday version of Inconceivable.
(09:12):
One of them involves one of your favorite places. Okay
Whataburger it is? Yeah, okay, isn't Whataburger one of your
favorite burger joints?
Speaker 2 (09:24):
I thought you like Whataburger, not their hamburgers. I'm Patti
Mel only at water Burger.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Okay, we're still talking ground beef here. It's just on
toast and yeah, okay, well then you probably won't be
a fan of what they're offering here. They have a
new offer coming up, but it's not like a regular
fast food junk food up date thing. It's some intreating
different and we'll see if it has any appeal to you. Also,
