Speaker 1 (00:00):
Craig Way alongside the producer who's feeling better, Cameron Parker, say,

(00:03):
he's about seventy five percent today coming off that flew
bug and all that stuff that knocked him down. And
did you how long did you actually stay in bed?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Oh, I've I've slept more in the last four days,
and I probably slept all year, and which is good
because I need to catch up on some sleep, that's
for sure. Yeah, Yeah, that's for sure because our travel
schedules the last month have been insane and it's going
to be even more crazy just looking at the month
of January, especially if Texas continues to extend their college

(00:34):
football postseason run, which we hope they do. Yeah, but
they don't really take into account our sleep schedules.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Craig, as you know, so no, no, that that isn't
part of the equation there, And you're right, it's it's
a little bit difficult, but we enjoy being around it
and involved in it, and so we'll just continue to
knock it out as best we can.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
We're here tomorrow Sunday.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
There's a double header at Moody Center Men's basketball at
eleven o'clock Sunday morning. Texas to take on Northwestern State
of Louisiana, and then at three o'clock the Texas women
are in action against ut Rio Grand Valley, and you
can hear the men's game right here on AM thirteen

(01:20):
under the Zone beginning at ten thirty Sunday morning, and
you can hear the women's game beginning at two forty five,
with coverage in the tip off at three on one
oh three point one FM, Austin's eighty station. When that's done,
and wan to zip over the airport, catch flight to Atlanta,
and get into Atlanta late Sunday night. Monday morning is
a very quick turnaround because Monday morning we've got a

(01:42):
there's a media day opportunity with Texas players on Monday,
so there's that on Monday, and then Tuesday, the day
before the ball game, is actually a holiday for us.
We won't be on the air, but I'll still be
cranking it out there with a final coaches press conference,
and you folks will hear some of the audio of
that on Wednesday morning as Cameron and Mike Hardball Hard

(02:09):
and Mark Henry bring you Long Horns Game Day on
Wednesday morning, and that's gonna start what nine o'clock in
the morning. You guys are starting now, Yeah, nine am.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
We're still working on our location TBD, so there will
be a location even as early as it is on
New Year's morning.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Well, we've had a press we've had a couple of
elevename kickoffs this year, and we've had we have some
great partners that have taken care of us, that have
hosted us for Longhorns game day in Texas football. So
stay tuned to these airwaves, to our social pages, and
we're working up on some special guests as well. So
it's not just gonna be your atypical Longhorns game day show.

(02:46):
We're gonna bring out all the stops, as I'm sure
Steve Sarkejian and Texas well against Arizona State.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
So I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
And for you and Roger in the Longhorn Radio Network gang,
you're back to where you were a few weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Yeah, right back. And by the way, and this is
this is cool. It's just an added thing. I I
want people to know that this is never taken for
granted and always greatly appreciated when people tell me and say, hey,
we turned down the TV sound and turn up.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
You guys, you do a great job.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
We enjoy the broadcast, blah blah blah, and I thank
them for that, and I'm truly grateful for that. And
the reason why even bring this up is apparently you're
not going to have to You're going to be able
to have both without having to involve.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Sinking it up. The simulcast they're doing that again?

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Was it the hometown radio broadcasts of both Texas and
Arizona State. My good friend Tim Healey calls Arizona State
Sun Devils football and who's going to join us in
the program of arm His broadcast SYNCD up to that,
and I think ours is going to be.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
It might be on SEC network. I'm not one hundred
percent certain about that.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah, I'm guessing it'll be on SEC network, Yes, PN
plus something like that, because they did it last year
a few Texas Washington game. But I think that may
have aired on one of the linear yeah, like eight
or nine or whatever. It's one of those.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
But anyway, I just saw an email today about that
that that our broadcast will be available on one of
those platforms there and one of those it's the same
telecast you're getting.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
But it'll be our broadcast on it, shoot Craig.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Between that and the Texas basketball games that are being
asimuilcast it on ESPN Plus and SEC Network Plus, you
might need to get some TV money.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Some folks were saying, now, I understand why he's on
the radio, you know that kind of thing. No, I
really appreciate it, and I just wanted to let you
know that that you won't have to work as hard
to do it because they're gonna have it SYNCD up,
just like they did the Sugar Bowl last year. Okay, Now,
I wanted to jump to a couple of NFL things
before we get to the break. Did you see the
story about Teddy Bridgewater Eddy two Gloves.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
He's back. He's back. He's back.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
When he said, what do you mean he's back, He's
come out of it retirement and he signed with the
Detroit Lions today and they're like, wait minute, They got
Jared Goff, Yes, Jared Goff is the number one guy.
Well got Hendon Hooker too, the guy for Tennessee. Yes,
they do. And Dan Campbell said he is not displeased
or disappointed with Hindon Hooker, but they had an opportunity

(05:19):
to sign Bridgewater, and they did. Here's the real interesting wrinkle.
Who is their backup?

Speaker 3 (05:25):
They don't tell me. I just said his name. They
said they weren't disappointed with him. Oh sorry, it must
be the flues Hendon Hooker, the former ten. Yeah. I
understand why they're looking for a backup.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Well, he said, it does not mean they're disappointed with
Hindon Hooker.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, of course not. But here's the interesting thing.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
He's been looking to get back in the Bridgewater has
and of course he's had all the injuries and everything.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
So then you say, well, what's he been doing.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
He's been coaching his alma monter Miami Northwestern, which is
one of the outstanding high school football programs in the country.
And what did they do last weekend? They did the
same thing the Vandergrift Vipers did. They won the state championship.
So they won a state championship, and now he's signed
with the Lions. Here's his quote. He said, my team

(06:17):
knows that's the plan. We wanted to win a state championship.
And then coach goes back to the league, see what happens,
then comes back in February in the offseason, continue coaching
high school football. We'll see how it plays out. Now,
That's what he told the insiders from NFL Network. He
told them that last week. So there had been several

(06:39):
NFL coaching inquiries about him getting involved in coaching. I
was saying coach, but being involved, but he wanted to
try to win a championship as a player before he
entertained those opportunities. He's thirty two. He did spend last
season as the backup behind Jared Goff. Campbell says he's
been in touch with him for a while. So, yeah,
there's something happening there. So we'll be back on the

(07:03):
roster Lions this week. The Lions have an important game
that next week is the game with Minnesota, the huge,
the huge, huge game they play at San Francisco Monday night. Yeah,
Teddy could start that game there. I think they'd be fine, right,
Hindon Hooker could start that game, He'll be okay.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
But still fighting for this number one seed because Minnesota
reviewses to die. Yeah, Philly, you know now they're after
that lost to Washington. Now on you know, a game behind,
but still I think mathematically are still could win the
one seed.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
So Detroit still in a battle here, well, here are
the scenarios. Kansas City has wrapped up number one seed.
Of course throughout the playoffs, they've clinched it and home
field advantaged throughout the AFC playoffs. Did you see the
follow up story today with Patrick Mahomes about his wife.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
Let's see, so she's she's pregnant, right or something like that.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
She's expecting any day now. Okay, So what Patrick is
working on and hopefully I don't know if he's working on,
but he's hoping. He said he wants a bye week
baby because they they finished the regular season.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Let's see, in one game left and I believe it's
it's next Sunday, it's Denver.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
It's at Denver. Is when it is what it is
and which they needed to not need to play their starters.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
No, now Denver may need it go hold on to
a wild card spot because right now I think they're
in the seventh spot. They may need that win. So
it'd be interesting to see, you know about competitive balance
and all that other kind of stuff. But following that,
the Chiefs are going to get a buye in the
first round of the playoffs, and he's really hoping the
baby arrives during the during the bye and you just

(08:50):
know for Mahomes and the Chiefs, that's probably the way
it's going to work out, you know, is.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Next Sunday, the first Sunday where every single game is
a flex game because there's no kickoff times or anything announced.
And it's a smart decision. So the NFL doesn't put
a stupid game in Sunday Night Football like Commanders Cowboys, Right,
but a.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Time might matter for the Commanders. Yeah, no matter for
the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
So uh, the listen, the game, the game that you
figure has got to be flex is going to be
Lions Vikings.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
It's got to be right because that's both teams win
this week.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
The Yeah, for the one seed as well as the division.
You're either going to be one the number one seed
in Central North NFC North champions, or you're gonna be
the five seed and on the road in the first round,
either at LA, where the Vikings have already lost this year,
or Atlanta or Tampa Bay. LA moved past those teams

(09:48):
with well, Atlanta moved up with their win, Tampa Bay
losing to the Cowboys dropped them out of the three seed.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
What'd you make of that?

Speaker 1 (09:55):
By the way, how about the Cowboys that that had
to be their best performance of the season.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Well, also, Tampa Bay's entire secondary's depleted. You know, Baker
Mayfield's losing receivers middle of the game. I think I
would start a cornerback for Tampa Bay. I didn't think
anything of it, correct, Okay, but Jerry Jones did. He's
fired up this quote that in this This really got
me going, even though I'm in and out of consciousness
this week weekend, he said. Jerry Jones said, quote, Mike

(10:24):
McCarthy has the team playing like they're playing for a
super Bowl. But here's the funny thing, Jerry Jones, they're
not because the Cowboys are eliminated. They are eliminated from
the playoff contention. So how are you using hypotheticals, Well,
they're playing like they would be playing. No, they weren't
because beginning of the season, Jerry, when it matters, and.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
That's what he was saying. I'm not going to hypathetical
with you.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
They were almost out of the playoff conversation two months
into the season. So it's just it's funny to me
how he can say they're playing like a super Bowl
team when they're out of the playoffs. What do you mean,
it's ridiculous. But he's coming back. I know he's coming back.
You know what I said that. I said this on
the air when you weren't with us the other day.
I said on Monday, the Cowboys win their last two games,

(11:07):
and I don't see him beating Philadelphia, although Jalen Hurts
got banged up, but they be. But if they find
a way to win in Philadelphia and then they beat
the Commanders something they finished with winning record, they finished
nine and eight, that will bring Mike McCarthy back. I
think he's back no matter what. Okay, the way Jerry's talking,
I think he comes back no matter what, which means
I will not be back for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
You'll be continuing your boycott, all right when we come back,
and we will in a few minutes. We'll run down
some of those clinching scenarios and also some bold stuff
for you when we continue on Sports Radio DAUM thirteen
