Quinn Ewers delivers in overtime to lift Texas over Arizona State, will face Ohio State up next

Hour 2 of Thursday's show begins with a recap of the Texas-Arizona State game and a look ahead to the Cotton Bowl against Ohio State.

Hopefully your heart rate is back to normal. After Texas
is thirty nine to thirty one double overtime victory over
Arizona State to advance to the College Football Playoff Semi Finals. Well,
they'll face Ohio State, the eight seed but ranked six

in the final College Football Playoff rankings next Friday at
the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas a six thirty pm
kickoff time. Of course, we will have the coverage for
you in pregame coverage as well. Myself, Mike Hardballhart and

AT and T Stadium. Winner advance seeing to the College
Football Playoff National Championship where they'll face the winner between

Penn State and the winner of Georgia in note Tre Dame,
which is about to begin right now on ESPN in
that Bowl game, the Sugar Bowl game tip off sorry
kickoff time about three to ten pm. Of course, it
was delayed a day after the terrorist defense in New
Orleans earlier this week where many lost their lives, and

first would like to say condolences, thoughts and prayers go
out to the family members of those affected by that
terrible tragedy that happened in New Orleans on New Year's Eve. Again,
thoughts and prayers of those families, and look forward to
the day where revelation twenty one to three and four
do come true. But the game has been moved to

the day where it will tick off just about ten
minutes on ESPN. Notre Dame actually favored in this game
by one point, of course. Carson Beck, Bulldogs starting quarter
back out for the entire season with that shoulder injury,
had surgery on it, declaring for the NFL Drafts. So
coming in will be Gunner Stockton, the backup quarterback for

the Georgia Bulldogs. Member He came in for back against
Texas in the SEC Championship, did a fine job helped
the Bulldogs win that championship game over the Longhorns. But
now with Marcus Freeman, the fighting iurs having a championship,
prepare for him fully. What can Georgia do against this
Notre Dame team that put the whip on Indiana when

he was a twenty seven to seventeen in a game
that was pretty much over with in the first half.
The score did not indicate truly the outcome of that game.
Notre Dame was by far a better team in that one.
It was not really a ten point game a late
touchdown from the Hoosiers. So a lot of people riding
with Notre Dame in this one. The winner of this
game will take on Penn State. He was able to

hold off Boise State the Fiesta Bowl to advance the
semi finals, and so they'll await the winner of Texas
and Ohio State next week. So a lot of fun
college football to get to again. Georgia and Notre Dame
abounts to kick off on ESPN real quick. Some more
thoughts on this Texas Arizona State victory. I said in

the beginning of the show, it felt like in on
our pregame show, a long Gorange game.

A fantastic spot, fantastic location, a really real fun show.
I felt that like that Texas would be able to
control the line of scrimmage in this game, would be
able to run the ball, and Texas will be able
to be able to stop Kim Skattaboo and evctually win
this game by double diggers. I did not think it
would be that close, and the way it started it
looked like that right Arizona stake at the ball first had.

Of course, we could not go a game without some
sort of weird special teams miskio. We had what three
in this game against Arizona State, beginning with Maurice Blackwell
Junior failing to block the Arizona State punt. I still
have no idea how he did not block that punt.
It was third and four, running into the kicker five
yard penalty, automatic first down for Arizona State. They would

be able to get in the field goal range and
score their only points of the first half. Texas offense
comes out two plays boom boom, quinnywers to Matthew Golden
and then DeAndre Moore Junior seven to Ninhering.

All right, this game.

Might be over with pretty early Texas would go three
and out later on, but then Arizona State nothing going.
It would punt and finally Silas Bolden with a punt
return touchdown. We had been waiting for it all year long.
We knew he would finally break one, and he did it.
Texas up fourteen to three. The betting live line went
from thirteen and a half to twenty five and a half,

and I think a lot of Taxes then thought, all right,
Arizona State's not gonna be able to move the ball
against Texas offensively. This is playing right into the hands
of the long Corns. But after that tick return touchdown,
we'd get the ball back, forcing another Actually they would

Taxas defensive line stopping Camskattaboo would move the ball down
the field, had a great screen pass to Trey Wisner,
but got inside the ten yard line through some sort

know you feel like it should be twenty one to
three at that point, and then things got a little
bit weird. In that second quarter, Texas couldnot capitalize on offense.
Arizona State would would have a couple of chances in
that first half I believe a second turnover on downs.
Actually they would have three overall, so no sorry, two
overall in that first half they would turn the ball

over on downs. They would have a field goal the
tempt blocked. I think it was Ethan Burke, the Westley product,
getting his hands on it. Taxes would would get the
ball back one more time in the first half, end
up punting it. Just you know, it felt like it
should be a lot larger than the seventeen to three
lee at a halftime. But hey horn to getting the
ball back the second half, but three and out and

then Arizona State what would move down the field levin
plays sixty yards another turnover on downs would get down
to the Texas two yard line. But offensively, Texas just
not running a lot of plays. Arizona State, however, was
controlling time of possession and plays. At one point, I
think they had run sixty eight plays to Texas is

like twenty.

The time of possession was so skewed.

Arizona State had twenty more minutes of the football than
Texas did, and we saw that fatigue start to play
in right and Texas finally would go up twenty four
to eight in the fourth quarter. Felt like this game
was finally over this spite having that safety following the
turnover on downs to the Texas defense getting another goal
line stand. Next play, Trey Wisner popped ball comes back

to Quin Yours. Nothing you can do there has to
just fall down if he If he throws it away,
it's a safety. The ball gets recovered by Arizona State,
it's a touchdown. The best thing could do is just
fall down on the ground again. Texas not getting a
great push on the offensive line, but would go up
twenty four to eight in that fourth quarter. Felt like okay,
Texas finally gonna have some breathing room. But then Arizona
State would continue to pull out the tricks. Cam Skataboo

let that touchdown pass again. Not sure what Malik Muhammad
was doing there. I guess he just did not see
The ball in the air turns into an Arizona State touchdown.
Texas gets the ball back when Yours on second down
just threw which is a really, really bad interception in
the double coverage looking for Isaiah Bond did not work

out well. And then Arizona State Gamskattaboo on that go
route down the sideline. I thought you could have called
offensive pass interference. I mean he kind of stopped running
and Michael Taff checked into him, and then Skataboo used
that momentum to break away from Tath and make the catch. Now,
of course there was the face mass penalty on the catch. Anyway,

Arizona State would ultimately punch it in, would convert two
point conversions to make it twenty four to twenty four.

But here's the thing.

Despite some frustrating moments from Queen Yours in that game,
he was nails to end at Folks eleven of fourteen
in the fourth quarter. He led two two drives in
the fourth quarter that resulted in what could have been
the game winning field goals, and Burt Auburn would miss
from forty eight yards and then he would miss from

thirty eight yards. So do not want to hear anything
about Queen Ewers not delivering the clutch, because folks, he
did it twice yesterday in regulation. And then we get
to overtime, right, thirdy it was what a third and
fourteen for Sam Levitt somehow escapes what could have been
a Baron currell sack and then got away from David
Benda and Michael taff I think before getting the first

down and then Scataby would score the touchdown. Thirty was
at thirty one twenty four. Now I think a lot
of Texas fans thought it's over with, this is it?
But fourth down, fourth in thirteen, Yours recognizes Arizona State.
It's gonna blitz, Brian Robinson said in his postgame showing

on on on Texas or sorry on on Texas football.
They sent six guys. Yours recognizes that checks in the
max protect offense and delivers an absolute beautiful ball to
Matthew Golden, who, by the way, guys, go back and
watch Golden's route. He had the safety doing spin cycles,
breaks free beautiful ball from yours, steps in, delivers a

Then first play of first play of double overtime, Yours
again steps up into the pocket delivers another fantastic throw
on the run. The gunner Helm was able to slip
into the secondary. Arizona State. I believe was expecting a
Trey Wiser run. Nope, Helm touchdown the gop for two.
Matthew Golden, who else? Thirty nine to thirty one, and

then Andrew macuba steps up and gets the interception on
third down. What a way to end it and who
better than Andrew mccooba. I think there's two guys on
the defensive side that I think Texas fans will like
to see make a game winning play, probably Shade Baron
or Andrew mccooba, or the two of them. Mccuba obviously
moved here from Nigeria as a kid, but grew up

in Austin, played in LBJ Austin with the Clempson, then
comes back to Texas and has been one of the
best defensive players in the country and continues to bring
it hit after hit after hit in Texas. Able to
get the victory, thirty nine the thirty one, and we'll
take on Ohio State next week. Ohio State led what

thirty four to nothing early on in that game against Oregon,
a real ugly first half for the Ducks.

You know, the first meeting between the two schools.

Oregon able to hold on, but that was played in Eugene,
you felt like this Ohio State team something has changed
since their loss to Michigan, right that ugly loss thirteen
to ten. Still not sure how they lost that game,
but something has changed, because through two rounds to college
football Playoff, I don't think there's any argument the best
team playing their best football right now is the Ohio

State buck Guys. A huge credit to what Ryan Day
and Chip Kelly and Jim Knowles have done on both
offense and defense. Jeremiah Smith is a freaking cheat code
Mecha Abuka is a fantastic wide receiver, Travon Henderson is
a fantastic running back, quin Shawn Judkins. They have all
the talent. They're the best talent in college football. I
think from top to bottom. They have the best roster

in college football from top to bottom, and they're playing
with the best football team in top to bottom. So
for Texas, I don't know if we've seen them play
a full four quarter game against a top twenty five
opponent this season, But if they want to beat Ohio
State next week, they're going to have to play a
complete game because they cannot beat the Buck guys. With
