the GT Toys Studio. That's Toyswith a z well oiled machine off to
a great start. That's That's That'swhat I like to say right here.

(00:49):
I'm all about it. God's looksfrustrated already. Things aren't dealing with this
supposed that was a little Yeah.Usually I can joke around about their frustration.
I'll own most of it. Thatone, I uh, that one
I'm frustrated by. Oh man.You know, I like to think I'm
pretty fair, you know what Imean. Like, if I'm right,
I will I'll wear you out, tell you how right I was. If

(01:11):
I'm wrong, I'll own it.Guys, you were you were right than
I was yesterday. I I knowthat. Like some of the information came
out like while we were still on, but you know, we were in
our little bubble. We don't knowhe's get to hear it, but you
know, there there's a there's athere's a press conference supposed to be Friday

(01:32):
to announce John Sterling what he wasup to. But then yesterday he just
announced it. He started he startedrunning around telling people what was gonna happen.
Eighty six years old, John Sterlingis hanging it up. He's done.
He said, I'm effective immediately. And now what Saturday is a game
honoring him? Yeah, Saturday, they're gonna have to thank you the goodbye,
probably show the high lengths. Soit went from what's going on Friday?

(01:55):
Wait a second, is this theLeonardo DiCaprio I'm not going anywhere,
which I chose kingly said to youknow what, Yes, I know,
I'm retiring right Like why, Mikeythe most John Sterling thing possible of Like,
oh, was I not supposed toannounce it? My bad? I
was just doing my own thing tofire me. I'm already leaving, Like
well, because you, like Ithought he was gonna go, yo,
I'm only doing select games this year. Then I'm done at the end of

(02:20):
the year. You're like, nah, done, done, done. I
was okay, well, I'm usedto being right. Mo haha, I'm
right. No, No, dude, he's done done, It's over,
And you know, I guess yougotta ask, like, is something crazy
happen? Like again we last timehe was on, he didn't really sound
great. His Yankees win was moreof a Yankees win. He's as six.

(02:45):
I mean, it's more likely something'snot right than right at that point,
right, I mean. According tothe television broadcast last night, John
Sterling called Michael k So Michael Kaycalled him, and then he called,
excuse me, he called. JohnSterling called Michael Kay on Saturday. He
then got back to him. Hesaid, I just want to let you
know I'm done. He goes,oh, when already? What do you
mean you're already done? He wantedto make sure it was clear. According

(03:07):
to Michael Kay, who claims hehad a conversation with him, I don't
doubt that body stretch. That hasnothing to do with health. He's eighty
five, going to be eighty sixin July. He claims it has nothing
to do with his health. It'smore about he doesn't enjoy the process of
traveling to the games anymore, bothhome and away, and they said,
they offered him to just do homegames, and yeah, I don't want

(03:29):
to be in traffic. I don'twant to do it. And like,
look, man, I I getit, Like I get it, Like,
what do you got none left toprove? Thirty what five years with
the Yankees. He's been doing thisforever. He answers every call that comes
in. You know, we havefun with the fact that he'll make you

(03:50):
he'll abuse you a little bit whenyou call him, but he answers and
he comes on the show and hedoes great work. It's what he does.
I saw marquesterscheer post. You know, hey, I called, I
cold called him one time and hecame to my stupid radio show. Like
it's true. He's he's he's agood guy. He does not have to
do this anymore. Was it thatnineties kid punks like you on on Twitter

(04:15):
and everything you're sharing him getting hitin the face of the baseball Heyo,
it was a little funny, butyou know, like you said, what
is he guy left to prove nothing? But it's the timing of it's weird.
I thought, for sure, acouple of games I'm gonna do.
I'm gonna do games. I wantto do. That's it, and then
at the end you can honor meat the end of the year. I

(04:38):
wonder if there's something going on withthe health I guess is where I'm at.
I maybe he is and just doesn'twant to disclose it. Maybe he
doesn't want to admit it. Maybehe's in his mid eighties and just doesn't
want to accept the aging processes somethingto all of us will be fortunate enough
to go through. Although most peoplewho age don't feel like they're being fortunate
as they age. But trust me, I know that feeling. But this
is an iconic voice in New York. It's much fun to people have about

(05:00):
the bad calls in how much hemight not be the new House Missouri Northwestern
polished broadcaster, and how much he'shad follies over the years. And maybe
you don't listen to a tape ofJohn sterling to become the next great play
by play broadcaster. He is aniconic voice in New York. He is
a New York City Broadcasting Hall ofFamer. He is going to be one

(05:23):
of these guys where a home runcall is played or a highlight is played,
and oh yeah, like twenty yearsfrom now fifty years from now,
who was that guy who had likethose cool nicknames. Wait, that guy's
voice was on all these broadcasts. He called every single one of Derek Jeters

(05:44):
at Bats's entire career, Like he'swith Bob Shepherd. He's with these voices.
Mel Allen, I believe is thelegendary broadcast, Like he's in this
discussion of one of the great NewYork voices of all time. Marv Albert's
in that discussion. Mike Breen's inthat discussion. I'm talking about basketball now,
but he's right there with him. This is a iconic New York sports

(06:04):
personality figure that is saying enough enoughfrom stepping away, I just I wonder,
like I said, I want toyou know, I want to believe
because I do. I love JohnSterling. You know that that's that's my
dog. Like that's when I I'vebeen blessed to hear Phil Rizzuto and now
John Sterling, and it just showsyou how different you and I are about

(06:27):
a lot of these things. Likelike you because you have the you went
for broadcasting, like you you listenfor that like perfect broadcast. I listen
for that, dude that I wantto watch a game with like that's like
like to have you know, PhilRazuto with the Holy cown, Like,
dude, can he just be mygrandpa? Like ah, you can always.
I don't care, like we cando whatever. I just be my
grandpa. And then Sterling the thehome run calls when when they are the

(06:53):
one you want, there's nothing bettersometimes, you know, like listen,
I'm I'm as guilty as anyone whoyou know, tearing them apart when they
happen, you know, but whenthey're good, and they're really good,
like you know from Romey my homie, and you know, an a bomb
from a Rod and all these likethose, I loved all those. I

(07:14):
love them all. Man. TheJohn Carlos Stan one is a bit much,
and it wasn't. I I wasn't. Maybe if I heard it more,
maybe in a few more home runs. And plus that, you know,
I've always had my favorite. Ithought that John Carlo Stan, John
Sterling could never do it. Butif for everybody who doesn't know, John
Carlos Stan's birth name was Mike,So I always wanted to be dropped the
mic. John Carlo that's a homerun, But like I that's that's what

(07:40):
I'm and I've never been to letthat one go, like it's it's in
me. I'm like, I one, perfect one, Okay, John,
I had won. It was fine, it was perfect. All you have
to do is was take it.And I think I even I told him
it on the air before too,And I'm not doing that. That's that's
not happening. He is, inthe conversation, is one of the most
Homer broadcasters of all time. AndI know some Yankee fans might even get

(08:01):
offended by that, like, whatdo you mean as a Homer broadcaster.
Well, he gave all the homeplayers nickname calls for home runs, but
not the away players nickname for homeruns. Now, look, there are
some very homer radio broadcasts, andsome would say you're employed by the team.
They don't want you to be rootingagainst the team. And that can
go for television as well. Theyknow where their paychecks are being signed.
But he is one of those guys. Now, somebody's like, well,

(08:22):
guys, what about Chris Berman.Chris Berman's more national and known for the
nicknames. Yeah, but again that'sa bunch of different people compared to the
Yankees. This is a guy whocarved out his own path. Maybe a
better comparison for Johnston when we talkedabout from New York and pulling out a
little bit, is Stuart Scott thatStuart Scott. And I know there's rumors
that are thirty for thirties on theway about Stuart Scott's career. He did

(08:45):
it his way and stuck by hisway despite all the criticism now the late
Stuart Scott, people always look backfindly and say, oh, he's an
innovator, he was an influencer, and all those things are true. But
when it was happening, Stuart Scottwas constantly criticized. I can't even imagine
Stuart Scott doing what he did thenwith social media and how often people would
probably throw him up on dead spinand awful announcing because he was so different.

(09:07):
John Sterling is like that. Butthere is not going to be probably
anybody in the history of baseball ona radio broadcast who does it like him,
with the nicknames and the sound andthe style in which he did it.
And that in itself is a compliment. That is what you're talking about.
Love Ack like he is entertaining,He's a different voice. He is
that. Here's a stat that hopedoesn't discourage someone, but is a compliment

(09:28):
to John Sterling and rather people.I hope it doesn't discourage his young broadcasters
who might look at Johnson like, wow, these guys really rever this guy
think about this and if I heardthis, I'd be really sad as a
kid who was eight or nine yearsold. John Sterling just probably will do
quick math here. Thirty five years, there's thirty Yankees on a roster,
not per season, but we'll justdo the math here. That's almost a

(09:50):
thousand Yankees. He's probably called theat least a thousand athletes who have played
for the New York Yankees, andthat thirty five year window one guy.
People want to talk about the oddsof becoming a professional athlete and how high
they are and how almost impossible itis. Okay, do the math.
If it's a thousand guys playing forthe Yankees, what's the odds of you

(10:11):
becoming John Sterling. Here's a truestory. We've only shared this thing one
other time on the air. Levacand I had an intern and we sat
down and so this guy, thiskid sat down with us and we asked
him, like, what do youwant to do? What is your dream
job? And he told us,he goes, I want to be the
next John Sterling and Lavac and Ithat's pretty cool. Like this kid has

(10:33):
a dream that he wants to bethe broadcaster for the New York Yankees.
And I think it was Levac said, all right, so what teams have
you called? Said, I haven'tcalled Eddie, Well, what's us you
plan on calling? Well, yeah, like you've got to start somewhere.
Kid, like he thought he wasgonna interurn for us. He's gonna walk
right out that door, hop ona bust out of the city, and

(10:54):
then he was gonna be the voiceof the Yankees, which God bless him,
you believe in yourself, I'll behonest with you. Hasn't worked out
that way. I think that washis last internship in sports. Not to
be mean, but I don't think. I think, yeah a few times,
but he hasn't done much since. But that's a compliment to John Sterling
in that story that people aspire tobe him in the odds of being him

(11:16):
are astronomical in comparison actually playing forthe Yankees. Wow, you gotta think
about it. To you after afterthat long the the there's more than just
talent, right, you have tobe willing to occasionally when when you're when
you're handed that doodoo sandwich, gohey can hell'll catch up on this and

(11:37):
choke it down, because there's nobodywho survives that long in any job who
has not had a ration to dodoo sandwich. It does. Imagine you're
saying that to John Sterling's stays andwhat his reaction would be, Oh,
oh, you want to know whatit was, Susan Wallban No, like
you know what I mean? Likeit would because again, like you listen,
if you there's there's everyone knows.If you've had a job a certain

(12:00):
period of time like five, ten, fifteen, twenty years, whatever it
is, there's a moment you lookback on that you go, a lesser
person would have quit, then Ididn't. I fought through it. I
got to the other side. Whetheror not you're still happy about it,
that's a whole nother argument. Butfor him to like you think about during

(12:20):
COVID, he could have quit, you know, during a million different change
of co hosts, change of thischange with that the team's sucking, the
different radio station bosses, the differentmanagement. That's chearge Stetinbrunner, different partners.
Actually, wait, you think thatcould be part of it, that
the change in management at the radiostation thing. I don't think so.

(12:41):
I don't. I don't know RyanHurly that well, he might John Stanley
could take one look at him andgoing I'm not doing it. Ryan Curly
the new Boss program record we usedto work with on the Four Letter Network.
Right, I always liked him.You said he was a jerk.
I don't remember this one occasion hewasn't great to me. Yeah, maybe

(13:01):
he was a jerk to Sterling.Maybe I don't think so. Maybe he
came in there he's like, listenthe old bag of bones. It's the
unemployment line for Sterling. Like, maybe he just came in and started mocking.
I don't think that happened. No, I don't. I don't.
I'm just not I'm not ready.I'm not ready to rull anything out,
you know what I mean. Asa great investigator, I have to to
go through and prove everything wrong asI walk through the path here. Okay,

(13:26):
Sherlock Holmes didn't just go, hey, there's you know, there's there's
no dirt on the shirt. Sothat person wasn't outside. No, he
looked around, he figured things out. That's what he did. It's popular
as John Sterling is. I feellike the popularity of John Sterling, if
he was a little bit more techsavvy, if he was maybe a little
bit younger, could have he evenexploded the last ten years because there are

(13:50):
outlets like Cameo and Only Fans whereyou want to see his feet that bad?
Do you want to see Sterling's feet? Not that? All right,
guys, let me make a callmy swim. Here's my Tutsi's gus.
You're telling me there wouldn't be peoplewho would pay for a custom John Sterling
home run call. That's what I'msaying. Like, if he knew Cameo,

(14:11):
there's videos that people share today thatJohn Sterling doing it, like there's
a price that if you got acustom John Sterling call, that dude could
have made a nice side hustle doingthat for Yankee fans. I'm sure he
has no idea, but Cameo orOnly Fans is though he probably could have
made a boatload of cash on theside doing that if they would have let
him. I don't think he's thatdude though, you wouldn't want John sterle

(14:33):
the home run call. I wouldtoo, My friends, you're you're an
Oriels fan. Get up there, old Tommy Curveballs that he called me.
Look at him. Here he is. But the curveball is actually a medical
diagnosis that you were giving once. That sad story about Tommy Curveballs. Susie

(14:54):
struck him out again. This eightgirl's dominating this grown man at the plate.
Surets just don't fit him all right. So now it's just it's you
know what I mean, It's likeit's part of my childhood, dude,
Like this is I I have alwaysbeen. I love I love having the
Yankees on TV. Don't get mewrong, but John's voice has always been

(15:15):
a part of me enjoying the NewYork Yankees, like I've always I remember,
uh, the stupid du cassette playingEmerson Radio I had when I was
a kid that I would bring withme if my parents made me go somewhere
during I'm probably very much more onthe spectrum than we realized. The more
I tell stories of my childhood,I would bring this radio with me,

(15:35):
and if they made me go,I would either have headphones in or I
would just play it in the backseatand tick them off. And I would
listen to the Yankees no matter wherewe're going apple picking, Okay, I'm
bringing my radio. Why I wantto hear the Yankees. Gotta hear the
Yankees. Man, I was apaying the ass. That's bad. That's
so bad it was, But Ilove them. That's that's my squad.

(15:56):
And that's and John was the oneRisuto when I was little. Then it
was John and they were the oneswho told me what the Yankees were doing.
And they and I it was likeI was there with them. I
think I really, really, reallyreally really hope that Paul o'nel ends up
in the booth in some way ever, because paul gives me that feel that

(16:17):
Rizzuto used to give me, likePaul O'Neill like, because Risuto was always
like, you know he some god, big sel mc connolly, holy Canolian.
And it's over. If if thecamera at any point in time when
Paul O'Neil is in the booth catchesa cookie, where do you think they
got? Those cookies? Need thebest? I hope for the sake of
our industry that Paul O'Neill is inthat booth. More so, what you're

(16:40):
talking about for his personally, Butlook, there's a connection to the story,
right, Like Emmanuel Barbery, whois the voice of Sienna, is
one of these two guys who's gonnabe filling in. So if you're a
seen a Saint fan, like theSaints broadcaster is one of these, I
believe Justin. I think it's Shackles. How you say his last name,
he's Justin's like late thirties though inannuals twenty four. So look, I

(17:02):
don't want to be cynical about this, but John Sterling probably did that job
for a long time for a ratehe probably should have been paid higher for.
Like you're the voice of the NewYork Yankee. Some people could use
that as leverage and say I'm gonnamake a ton of money doing this.
Sterling might have been like, youknow what, I'm happy I have this
job. I like doing it.You see where I'm going here. I
wonder if they're gonna low ball thebroadcast or one of these jobs, Like

(17:22):
you could either get paid a tonof money or be the voice of the
Yankees, and somebody be like, can I have both? Well, people
will be willing to take a paycut to be the voice of the Yankees.
So that's why I wonder if PaulO'Neil's even in like well you mentioned
the management change, like f anand the Yankees are the ones who make
that call. Yeah, if I'mif, I'm just if I'm doing that
with hal Steinbrenn or whoever. AndI don't think Barbary Amelia Barbary, he's

(17:48):
sitting across from me. I'm gonnaand and I want to offer him the
job. You ain't earned John Sterlingmoney yet. And if I'm gonna go
pay John Sterling money to my broadcaster, I'm going to go hire a famous
person to do it. I'm goingto go steal Charlie Steiner or whoever,
Jason Benetti, Kevin Brown, RyanRuco, who's done stuff, like just

(18:12):
somebody who's been right. And eventhem, they're not they're not big enough,
Like I'm gonna go get one ofthe big voices, or you can
work your way up to this thatthe one hundred percent, because again,
you can't give these if you startthese guys where Sterling was making it,
how do you give them a raise? And again there's a poop sandwich coming
for everybody it's just whether or notyou get in the first couple of days

(18:32):
or not. That's with no disrespect. You could probably make a resume if
you're one of these guys, like, hey, here's how I called the
last few games. These were actuallyhome runs, these weren't. But John's
called Mayo Barbarie early. Listen.I'm fine, but I'm not leaving the
Sienna Saints. That's not I haveto be able to call both. All
right. So obviously Yankees lost lastnight too. I wasn't gonna talk about
that, but there you have it. Lost two and like two in a

(18:56):
row for the first time this year, lost the game and lost John Sterling
all all right there, like justhopefully the worst, the roughest part of
the season is over now and wecan move forward. Before I gotta tell
you real quick, I was Iwas talking to our friend Aaron over at
the MVP of Reno this morning, and she's always loved my my, my

(19:17):
mocking of of Susan Waldman. Butyou know, like I I'm like,
I love that woman says. Wetalked to her. We talked to her
and I was like, okay, can you just be my aunt or my
grandma? Can we just talk baseballand like you like sneak me in the
good soda when nobody's looking like theway, like whatever, But like,
if you're her, dude, youwant to break in a new puppy,
Like I don't know if I wantto break in a new puppy, I
might want to get out too.I would think her knowing sternly long enough

(19:41):
that she knew this day was coming. Oh, she probably was very mentally
prepared for like, Okay, thiswill not be forever. We've gone pretty
far, are you wait? Wait, babe, I'm saying if I'm her,
yeah, she I'm sure she's hadtime to think about this. Do
I want to keep going? DoI want to sit with one of these
new play by play guys? Ordo I want to know, like,

(20:06):
great job, John, appreciate it. This is my last year. And
if i'm and if I'm broadcasting,if I'm the one hiring the broadcasters,
do I just want to bring ina whole new team? How about Lavac
and goes the Yankee Games? Idon't think so? Why not? I
don't I don't you want to playby play? I'd love it. I
don't think that's I'll be the goofyguy just doing stupid stuff. You'd play
by play, I'll do color toSusan from the I'll me this Susan New

(20:30):
Year, John, John, JohnJohn, What kind of pitch was that?
John? The small conversation we hadand from hearing her broadcast, she
loves baseball. I love baseball,John, She loves that sport that's baseball,
Susan. I don't know. Shefeels like a person, and maybe

(20:52):
I'm reading her wrong. There arecertain people that I've met in life that
want to be retired or want tojust do something else and want to have
free time. And there's other peoplethat they had if they had a little
bit of free time, they wouldgo nuts. I don't feel like she's
a person who wants a lot offree time. That looks she has free
time in the off season. Yeah, I think she really loves it that
much that she will want to keepdoing this. I could be wrong.

(21:15):
I can have wrong, But youjust talked us out of the job.
We were there, We were onthe short list Lavac and guys do do
Yankee games. It was there.I think we were closer to filling in
for a manual for Skin of broadcaststhan we were for the Yankee. I'm
not willing to do that. OhI'm not gonna step down, dare you?

(21:37):
Just because you're trying to get closeenough to smell? Gmac? Can
you tell me about the firewalls? Now? Great? There you want anybody
on the firewalls you want to smellJohn Sternly, Coach Clark. It's weird
you mentioned that that we haven't gottenback to who our guest is tomorrow.

Lovak and guys on the voice ofthe Capitol Regions Sports Fan Fox Sports ninety
five and nine eight. I thinkbecause the shiny new toy for everybody in
this year's draft are the first threequarterbacks. And it's hard to envision a
scenario in which those three quarterbacks becomepart of our local teams or even one

(26:52):
of our favorite teams. It's likewe're all kind of like holding breath trying
to figure out what's gonna happen.Like it's like you're looking for a consolation
prize because everybody else is is targetedin on these these three maybe four qbs.
Betephon who you like. But like, I look at all the mock
drafts, I look at them everyday. I'm I'm I'm a draft addict.

(27:15):
I have I have the time.I admit that my name is Jeff
and I'm addicted to the NFL Draft. I don't know. It's the most
unique job interview process we've ever seen. Like we should call Jordan from Express
Employment and go, hey, canyou do a combine for office workers?
How many minutes? How many wordsa minute? All that stuff? Forty

(27:37):
our dashes, Well, yeah,to the coffee. You gotta get to
the coffee and not spell the coffeecome back. No, because it's just
we. I do feel like wewe we normally talk way more about the
draft. There's got to be areason that we haven't talked about it as
much. I've got two things linedup for you here at the VAC.
I've got a medium take and ahot take. I got a hot take

(28:00):
Tommy for you about my twenty twentyor I'll give you a medium normal probably
the right answer which you want. You want first, let's burn it down
it like, yeah, why not? I know that's what you want to
do. Strap in here. Everybodycan let us know if you agree with
my point or not. At fiveone eight six nine zero nine eight Oh
that's the elevision, ten thousand phonelines, or at tom guys, TM

(28:22):
jo is easy on Twitter, atthe Jeff Levat No, you have to
call in. The reason the NFLdraft isn't as popular now is because of
COVID. What strap in for thedraft? Hang on, this is a
hot told you I was gonna burnit up with this hot take. Hear
me out on this. Okay,So you had the the COVID draft of
twenty twenty, and that's the JoeBurrow year, Joe Burrow to uh,

(28:45):
the draft is basically remote. Ithappened, but we needed the only thing.
There was a lot of stuff inJordan, that's all. Yeah.
Remember there was social media pushback likecan we really draft at a time like
this? I remember you were veryfocal like what else is this? There?
Raft for homes. Everyone's like okay, like we're fine. But everybody
got a box if you were ifyou if they thought you were gonna be

(29:07):
in the first round, you gota box with a ring light camera so
you put you can you can dialin, and a every hat every halt
from the first round, so youcould put on the hat. So like
Joe Burrow, like could have accidentallyinstead of grabbed the Bengals, could hear
like Buccaneers and you be like,oh he screwed up. Well, what

(29:29):
happened for the draft is people stillgo like there are cities that still hosted
Post New York City Post where itused to be. People will still go
out to the draft. But I'vealways said this about the draft. That's
a hard sell for people who aren'tfans of like, wait, so what's
happening, Who's playing well nobody's playing. Well, what's the concert. Well,
they might have a concert before.Wait wait, so what is actually
happening. They're picking players, Oh, they're gonna play to night. No,

(29:51):
Like, if you're a not sportsfan, it's hard to explain what
the draft is. But it's stillthree days. So the reason I feel
like COVID is affected this is becausethere are goal to be events that happened
in the world of twenty twenty fourthat were a lot more popular years ago
because of technology and how we consumedit. Like there was a time for
younger sports fans where the draft wasSaturday at noon and it was all basically

(30:14):
two days. Then there was atime that people are older than me,
the draft wasn't even on television. Are pal Derek Brown tells us the story
about this that like they just calledthem and said you're going to the Giants.
I wonder if because post COVID,I think the two things sports wise
that have been really impacted business wiseare fantasy football drafts and NFL drafts.
We have a friend, our guyBoston Dan has told us this before,

(30:37):
and I think if you're an ownerof a business here locally, there was
a time when you had a fantasyfootball draft. It was booming, like
you could go to a local restaurant, a local bar, and then in
late August early September, everybody wasdoing their fantasy draft. You had the
boards out, you had people buyingbeers. But because of COVID, everyone
did it remotely and they're like, you know, this actually is kind of

(30:57):
easier and a lot fat. Idon't get to see you guys, but
all right. I feel like theNFL Draft feels like that a little bit
to me, where everybody can getthe results of the draft night in four
hours. You can just tune inwhen your team's on the clock and the
dramas made up by the television networksthat are just hoping to get it.
Maybe that's way too hot of atake, but I'm trying to figure out

(31:19):
why the draft doesn't feel like itused to. My medium take was gonna
be what you let off with that. The New York teams are in the
mix for quarterbacks, so cities likeChicago and Washington and New England. The
draft is much more popular this year. But I wonder if there's some mix
of like this is one of theseevents that technology has caught up to so
you feel burned in a way.Yeah, no, because I think I

(31:45):
think your hot take would apply ifwe were want Like if we were always
like, yo, we go tothe draft every year, and now we're
like, yeah, let's not go, we can watch it, then I
think I would go with your COVIDstance. But I really, I really
think that this year is just becausethere is such a there is such a
drop off in sexiness after those firstthree quarterbacks, Like it's just if you

(32:08):
don't think your team has has anychance, you're just like, alright,
let me wait and see. Let'ssee what we get. We're gonna get
a player, but doesn't mean thatwe're gonna get the player we wanted.
It actually reminds me of two thousandand two, because there's been years that

(32:29):
we thought we knew who the numberone pick was gonna be two thousand and
two, Like Houston signed David Carrbefore the draft, like they literally were
just like, I don't know whywe're waiting. You want to be here?
Cool, all right, let's dothis, And the league was like,
whoa wait, let's not do that, And all of a sudden,
I think it was it's Carolina yeah, Carolina comes in and goes, well,

(32:50):
hell, we'll just sign Julius Peppersnow, and at least like please
stop, please, we have athing we do. Just TV showed with
ratings and money like there were andthere was like jokes at the time where
like we could just tune into thedraft and literally just like the first six
cars should already just be sitting upthere with a gone fishing sign on all

(33:13):
their like war rooms like it,We're already done. We had two much
to prepare. Yeah, when youare ready. We knew who the guy
was, like we everybody knows it'sit's it's Caleb Williams. Like there's no
there's no delineation from that, right, Like there's no there's no like anything
can happen when the car goes upwhatever. There's no way that the Bears

(33:35):
traded Justin Fields for a bag ofmagic beans and did everything they've done to
not go get Caleb Williams. CalebWillms is the pick. But and this
will happen on social media and maybeyou watching the draft, people are gonna
get frustrated, be like, comeon, hurry up. We all know
it's Williams. Let's what we learnedfrom our guy Salcapacha in Western New York
is that the reason teams take theirtime is because they get fifteen minutes of

(33:59):
advertising like, hey, well,we're in no rush, we know who
we're taking, don't forget to buyseason tickets for and they waste it,
not even waste in their minds.Hey we got nowhere to go. We're
here all night. We're going touse as much time as he wants.
You guys got to talk about it. You'll hurry up later. Now we're
gonna keep our well, everybody's watching. We're gonna we're gonna make you talk
about it. I have one othertake back about this. Please be better

(34:22):
than the COVID one. Maybe NFLfans because of recent busts or the quarterback
class stop being as good if theydon't buy the old take of like this
quarterback is going to change the futureof your franchise. He's gonna be the
greatest thing ever. Because the lastcouple of classes, now twenty twenty three
has only got one class one year, I should say under their belt.

(34:44):
But you look at the twenty twentyone and twenty twenty two quarterback classes,
they're not very good. No butI mean, this is supposed to be
the class, Like this was theone that we we also had that you
Heisman boy, everybody was like itwas Spencer Rattler, who we're not even

(35:05):
talking about him? Like, howgreat is it gonna be? Is Spen
Spencer Radler comes out of this draftas the best quarterback? Like how awesome
will that be? He's got theswagger he probably if you ask him,
he probably thinks he is. What'swhat I'm saying? Like, and we're
he's sixth seventh. Yeah, ifyou, if you, if you look
at the prevailing wisdom, your boy, Nick right. His mock drafts is

(35:27):
out Fox sports dot Com. KaylerWilliams number one to the Bears, Jade
Dale's number two to the Commanders,New England number three, JJ McCarthy.
JJ McCarthy is the wild card ofthis draft. No matter how much you
hate him, guys, he isthe wild card because the his argument is

(35:49):
the exact opposite of the normal argumentfor why you go early on a quarterback.
The normal argument for why you goearly in a quarterback is I've seen
everything this guy can do. Hethrows, Oh he can do this,
he can do this. I've seenit all. The argument for JJ McCarthy
is Michigan was so good defensively runningthe ball, we haven't even seen a
tenth of what McCarthy can do.So like, physically we know he's a

(36:13):
gifted athlete. Now way do yousee what he does when he actually runs
a team? So the JD.McCarthy the opposite, the inverse argument is
why is what makes him interesting?I can't disagree with the take that JJ
McCarthy has become the most interesting namein this year's NFL draft about nine days
out from it now. And it'snot because this game's very interesting, not

(36:35):
like he's an exciting player, butyou just sold this right, Like,
well, he could have been excited. Think about that, Like there's usually
an athlete he's a five star man, Like from the days of Randy Moss
to the days of Johnny Manziel andRG three, there's usually a superstar exciting
athlete. Tim Tebow's a great exampleof this, Like his game transcends college
football and because his game is sounique, how will he fit in the

(36:59):
pros? A ton of different athleteshave had that and they become that intriguing
player. McCarthy is that person becauseof that take of well, he could
have been better, or he's gota great agent who is representing JJ McCarthy.
Because Harbaugh, he is the greatestquarterback in Michigan history. Michigan's had
a couple quarterbacks, Harball, BradyGirmach. I mean there's been some good

(37:22):
quarterback You've seen that move from McCarthygoing top five. I've seen some mock
drafts where the Giants take him,oh, number four after a trade with
the Cardinals New York Football Giants DrakeMay. No, I would think no,
but hold on, if Drake Mayis there at four and this is

(37:45):
he's got his theory is the Giantsgo from six to four and they give
up a first round pick next year, I would not do that trade.
But let me clarify the comment though, because I said no in the sense
of I don't think they're gonna makethat move at four. I feel like
Arizona sitting there right Arizona was four. They probably would have mat Marvin Harrison

(38:06):
Junior to go with that spot,But New York seems committed to Daniel Jones,
Like do I think it would begreat for the Giants to draft the
quarterback now again there's those rumors areback. Yeah, that he's done.
So, I mean they once asa rumor, two is like now it's
like, all right, hold on, what's going on here? If I
were the Giants, I would draftthe quarterback. Do I think the Giants

(38:29):
will draft the quarterback? No,Daniel Jones. I believe it's now three
consecutive seasons with season ending injuries andnow the most the most recent one.
And we can get to this lateron in the show about what happened that's
gone viral involving Daniel Jones. Iwould draft the quarterback. I don't think
they will, though, I don'tthink they'll trade up. The Giants have
seemed very stubborn about doing that. They have things they want to do it
their way and lock it in atthat point. But McCarthy seems to be

(38:51):
the name that continues to good jumpup the draft boards. So everyone's focuses
on the quarterback and you have otherathletes out there, Bowe Nicks, Michael
Pennix that because they're old, peopledon't want to touch them. But Jayden
Daniels is also old. You knowwhy Jayden Daniels stuff hang out a second
that season everyone says is so great. They beat one team with a winning

(39:12):
record and nearly you can look upthis on Fox Sports nine eighty dot com.
I broke down Daniels the season.Nearly forty percent of his stats this
year came in four games and threeof the four opponents I believe for Army
Georgia Southern in like ul Lafayette, like it's unbelievable, Like the teams he
tore it up against are either like, wait a second, really, so

(39:34):
we can't enter's that wacky picture ofhis elbow. That's crazy. I still
don't know if that's really It's notright there. Well, yeah, and
all right, So here's the thingI heard Cowhard say this this morning.
The louder the offseason, the worstthe team. Like last year, the
Jets were the loudest offseason and theyhad and everything blew up in their face.

(39:57):
This year, I think you saidDallas is the loudest. So they
they're in trouble like everyone else isbeing really quiet. There's a lot of
people who my ears to the groundand Raider Nation. There's a lot of
people who allegedly earn the know thatthink Antonio Pierce wants to work with Jane
Daniels again after they were together inArizona State, and god, if we

(40:19):
could transfer a little less, justlike I forgot he was even at Arizona
State, he was starting to BrandonAiyuk, right, make me feel weird.
That's like twenty eighteen twenty seven wasBrandon at Yuk and and wasn't neighbors.
Yeah, yeah, like that Danielsand Neighbors came together. But it's
just like, the quieter teams are, the more I'm I'm ready to see

(40:40):
trades. I think this is gonnabe the craziest first round we've seen it
in a very long time. Ithink JJ McCarthy is the lynchpin of how
it goes crazy because Takeathon has himfalling to the Giants and them getting him
without making a trade. But likeanybody who's got four quarterbacks or less draft
of the first round, I thinkyou're crazy. I think it's gonna be
like six seven quarterbacks in the firstfreaking round. You think it's gonna be

(41:02):
one of the most exciting first roundswe've seen in a long time. I
feel confident that it might be oneof the most boring drafts I've had in
a long time. And I sayboring because it seems like we know now
that the top four or five willbe covered by quarterbacks, and that's the
new strategy with these teams. Wellwell, I mean, but that even

(41:22):
if the first three go quarterback andthen all of a sudden there's trades,
or maybe there's trades at two orthree. Like something, something's gonna happen.
I just can't I can't quite placewhat it's gonna be. But something's
coming, Something's gonna happen. Ifeel it, like I'm I'm I'm starting
to get very fired upbout the draft. And then don't forget, I get

(41:43):
to enjoy the draft for like fifteenseconds because right after Day three of the
draft is over, Saturday, MVPArena, the Firebirds kickoff. I'm kind
of bummed you and I aren't gonnabe out for the draft this year.
I don't think it's gonna. Arewe convinced that, I mean, like
just because we're not working, aswe won't be out drinking. I'm down
for at least at least the firstnight. You know, you're a little

(42:06):
busy. I mean, you're fortyeight hours from kickoff at that point,
you know the traditions in this world, and you know, if I can
get the guys to go out too, it's a team function. It's a
whole other animal. Do you wantto do this? You want to take
that on the other side? Nowwhat, let's do this because I don't
think he's going to be able tohandle this on the elevation ten thousand in
line, which is five to oneeight six, nine, zero zero ninety

(42:28):
zero. Corey from Greenland, Hi, guys, Hello, Corey. The
sterling thing you guys were talking aboutfor the Yankees. I have a draft
question. But the stirling, hereminds me of Dick ev By it's going
to be the time. Reminds meit's going to be. He reminds me

(42:52):
of Dick A. V And Coursofor the college football game day. So
it's like there's nobody else to replacethem too, legends, no doubt.
I like it. Good call. All right, what's your draft questions?
Draft questions? Do you think,uh, your raiders move up? I

(43:14):
do I think they are. Ithink they've got a plan. I think
they're gonna move up. They're probablythey're probably having conversations right now. I
think it really depends how those firstlike like it would probably come down to
trying to get all the way totwo, because I don't Daniels, I
think so, or at least youwant to have your pick, Like if
the Bears, the Bears are inlove with Caleb Williams, if if al

(43:36):
Davis is still alive, they gofor one. Because you get a usc
quarterback, they go after it.But I do I think they're gonna.
I think they're gonna try and worktheir way up and get a hold of
you know, jayde and Daniels oror maybe even JJ McCarthy. JJ McCarthy
could run the offense they want. They run the ball. That's it,
you guys said a month ago,you guys were talking a little crazy about

(43:59):
uh harball? How harball really?Love? And JJ McCarthy. You don't
think on any green and any anythingthat they would trade Herbert, would you.
So here's the thing. I don'tthink they'd trade Herbert. But he
is crazy enough to grab him atnumber five and then either work a trade

(44:21):
on either one of them or keephim for a year and then decide which
way you wanted to go. Heis crazy enough to burn that fifth pick.
Corey, I love these questions. You are killing it ten fantastic,
Corey. We're proud of you.I haven't insulted you, I haven't hung
up on you. I want topick up on that Charger question because here's
with the Chargers. They are ata financial mess. They've cleaned up most
of it, but we all knowthe salary cap is very hard to figure

(44:43):
out. We can all act likewe know we don't. I don't know
if Herbert's contract and how Harball wantsto structure this roster actually match and with
the overall we'll say power that Harbaughcan have in that franchise. I don't
think it's as crazy as others maythink it is. So I think I
agree with all three of you. When's the less than Levac, Gos and
Corey all agreed on one take?I was not sober. Thank you,

(45:08):
Corey, Corey, thank God?Oh God? Yeah for your buck No,
No, for your buccaneers. Wouldyou be against them if he's there
at their pick picking that Xavier theguy out of Texas A speedy guy.
Uh, I'm not really thrilled withthat Xavier. Speedy guy. I would
rather have I would rather have koolAid than Xavier speedy guy. Kool Aid's

(45:31):
cool cool aid. I wonder whatkind of kool aid the beginning? See,
now you're ruined it. I knewshould have hung up earlier. I
knew it. I knew what Ifelt. He's gone now good work.
Couldn't you just take the compliment andhang up? Could you just done that?

I think you could say you're proudof it. Now I think it's a
different twenty four You were proud tosupport, proud to see Caitlin clarko number
one to the Indian of Fever, and then I believe the woman you're referring

(51:15):
to is Cameron Brink from Stanford. It's exactly referred she's only six four.
You said only six four, it'swhat you said. Did you see her
last night? Are you talking aboutthe picture that's going viral of there's Holly
Row hanging on for dear loh mygod, Holly Roa is below the ticker.
You could just see her eyes poppingout with the microphone, just like

(51:36):
I mean hysterical. So like, what's Holly Row five to four? Or
she's amazing book shorter at least?Right? I mean, because when I
saw I was like, that woman'ssix eight six' nine seven, Like
she's a woman? What are beautiful? Absolutely stunning like her? If she's
six four five to four of thatis like like insane? What's her?

(52:00):
I can't think of the woman's namefrom barstool? She Jee Smith? Yes,
she tweeted out. I feel likeI feel like Cameron brings legs or

of the country kids coming with theboots, all of a sudden, get

(52:44):
the little extra boost those old linemen, those basketball Oh wait a second,
you know that's an old recruiting trick. She wasn't doing the combine. She
showed up rock in the heels tobe like, you know you're gonna take
me number two overall behind Caitlin Clark. Don't forget what happened on Draft night,
Like I stole some headlines away fromKatelyn. All the headlines. She
stole all the headlines. She's absolutelystunning. She she's blowing on a red

everybody's waiting for me to go toofar, not just a beautiful, beautiful
woman. Well, Angel Reese shegot drafted as well, Kaitlyn Clark got
draft. But back to Cameron Brink, she is what we talked about two
three years ago. And you andI had this take two or three years
ago and it still stands true, and she is the best example of it.
We said there was going to bea female athlete that has success on

advantage of nil She's got a bunchof nil deals and she had because of
her Instagram following and what she's beenable to do, and she's great at
basketball and so and here's dale right. I had no idea that the salary
structure in the in the WNBA.So the first four players drafted all get

(53:55):
the exact same contract. Okay,so it's a it's a it's a three
year deal with an option for afourth where they make seventy six thousand,
five hundred thirty five in year one, seventy eight, change eighty five,
and then the option to go ninetyseven thousand dollars. These are the first

(54:17):
four picks of the WNBA draft. Then it drops slightly, so again those
are those are four year deals forthree hundred thirty eight thousand, three hundred
and thirty eight fifty six thousand, that's what those are. So then from
five, he's now four years, three hundred twenty three hundred eighty three thousand,

(54:39):
so a little over three almost threehundred twenty five thousand for the fifth,
the sixth, the seventh, andthe h and the eighth pick nine
drops down to three ten and change. A lot of this is coming off
the option year, something coming offthe first year, so you like,

(55:00):
realistically speaking, there's about the twentytwenty thousand dollars difference between being the first
pick and the twelfth pick of thedraft. So this all happened the same
way. I feel like for everybodyless than who was tuning into the WNBA
draft, people googling how much willCaitlin Clark make it going pro? What

(55:21):
she's taking a pay cut? Whydidn't she go back to Iowa again?
Why didn't she make more nurses?Look, they'll be fine. Cameron Brink
will be fine, Katelin Clark willbe fine. They are household names,
they have enough endorsements off the courtthat don't cry for them. They'll be
just fine. When it comes financially. But for the people who are outraged
about Oh my gosh, I can'tbelieve WNBA players only get paid this.

(55:43):
Were you outraged for the twenty twentythree WNBA draft, you know, right,
or the twenty twenty two like thenumbers were still there. If you
want to see salaries increase, youhave to see an increase in the product,
give see an increase in revenue. You have to see an increase in
popularity. The reason why they're outrageouscontracts relatively speaking, in the NBA and
Major League Baseball in the NFL isbecause all of them gained popularity and money

(56:06):
and revenue. And you can say, hey, we're paying this employee.
We'll do the business side of it. Tommy Corporate here we are. We're
paying this employee this amount of moneybecause we feel like they're worth it and
we can actually do it. TheWNBA can't give these athletes millions of dollars
because they haven't generated it. Right, No, and I get it.
I did love you sent to theone group were in from hater report.

(56:29):
Kaitlin Clark's first year WNBA salary seventysix thousand dollars. James hard and fine
for Colin Morrial liar one hundred thousand. They were plied she better not call
Morial liar. I thought that wasbrilliant. I was just like, come
on that, well, this iswell played in the comedy world. There

(56:52):
is a spow track is is reportingthough that because of these these two years
of WNBA. You know, thesestars coming into the league, there there's
a there's a there negotiations to taketheir TV streaming deal from sixty million to
one hundred million, and they're gonnago to sixteen teams in the next two

(57:15):
years. Players can opt out ofthe CBA in twenty twenty five, which
would start all over again. That'shere's the deal man. We talked about
the poop sandwich earlier. Every jobcomes with the poop sandwich. None of
the ladies that we were just talkingabout in the first at least not the
first five picks are making their realmoney from the WNBA. Kaitlyn Clark's money

(57:37):
is gonna come from Nike, shegonna come from Papa John's or whoever,
like whatever it is. What's whateverthe big businesses in Indiana are, They're
gonna be all over. I wouldlike to tell you that in two to
three years more players will be paidmore. That seems like the easy take
right now to happen. I'd liketo hold that take intol Like the first
few games of Caitlyn Clark's career. If Kitlyn Clark is posted his numbers for

(57:59):
the n F and I'm talking ratingsand generating money, then okay, we
can see that. But she wouldbe a player. If she does this
in the WNB, that would changeboth professional and the college game. Everyone
agrees that she had an all timehistoric following. We'll find out if the
passe of the WNBA it doesn't alwayswork like that. And not anytime you
pick on Caitlyn Clark, you getscreamed at you an American? How dare

(58:21):
you American? We've seen it thousandsof times of a professional athlete not succeeding
to the level they were expected incollege because they had an incredible following at
the football, basketball, baseball, like all that. That happens all the
time. And let's and let's bevery clear. I can name more w
NBA players now than I ever couldbefore, and it's like four so like

(58:46):
it's still they got to keep going. Like when we tune in. We
gotta see Caitlin Clark and Sabrina andask you versus Cameron Brank and all these
like we gotta see. They gotto keep marketing these ladies. If they
market the lady and they keep ourattention, who knows some of these ladies,
just get the hell out of theirway, Angel Reies, Cameron Briank,

(59:07):
get out of their way. Letthem market themselves. As a matter
of pay them to market themselves.Give them whatever they want to boost their
Instagram or whatever, and you mighthave a shot of growing this thing,
you know. Actually, on topof that, take some of the money,
bring it over to Elevation ten thousand. Let them help you with a
nice marketing strategy, plan, newcommercials, new whatever. That's what they

(59:30):
do with Elevation ten thousand. Theyhelp you be strong where you're weak.

great a print and sciences, theygot you. They can do it all.
