I would argue that that game onSaturday night is the most entertating sporting
event that's happened in the Capitol region, college or professional level in the last

you want to do with the PeterHooley game, which you were at.
The U Albany game where the shotshit against Stonybrook. I believe that's March
of twenty fifteen, but I wouldput that game as second for everything that
happened now, second behind Hooy andsecond behind the return of arena football in
the Capitol Region. You and Iwere in a different role in two thousand

and eighteen. Got my year rightthere when the Albany Empire returned to the
Capitol Region. That was sold out, Every seat was filled, use whatever
term you want, the upper decks, everything that was a moment. But
the Firebirds had a moment on Saturday. Let's not get it twisted. The
thing that I underestimated and maybe CapitolRegions sports fans but underestimated this with me,

the power of the name Albany Firebirds. Yep. The mix of that
crowd was old school fans and youngkids people hadn't gone to a game in
years, and people who'd been waitingto come back to a game, who
could not wait to rock their gearfrom the nineties and cheer on this team.
To lead the whole thing off,We'll get to the x's and o's
there and then have it on theturf. But did you even underestimate the

power of the name Albany Firebirds untilyou saw it on Saturday night? Well,
you know I did. You knowwhat I mean, because back in
twenty one, there was a conversation, you know, when when the agreement
was made between Rondridrico, Nate StarlingJunior, and Mike Quorda to work together
and you know, bring back footballafter the bankruptcy after the twenty nineteen championship

for the AFL. There was ayou know, room full of people.
We had the option then Mike hadthe rights to both both teams, and
in my mind, I was like, dude, we just won a championship
with the Empire. I've never seenanything like it. We were packing that
place every every single game. Yougotta go Empire. And you know,

obviously I was wrong. Obviously Iwas wrong. But hindsight being what it
is, you know, whatever namewe went with first could have very well
ended up owned by a crazy person. And now that's right, So it
all worked out to where now wehave the Firebirds. But yeah, originally
I thought, I thought because ofall the work that had been done most
recently for the Empire. That wasthe way to go. But as you

just the people people are kiddy aboutthe Firebers merch almost sold out. Wow,
the area got to try to rushorder a whole new batch of merch.

you just set. People who workin music might get that. Like I'll
use example that's popular now. Quavoand Chris Brown are in a beef and

go. Someone's like, who caresQuevo's getting paid? No, no,
no events like this. They makemore money on merch when it comes to
selling out merchant a sport of that. That is incredible, Levac, that

the Firebird name could hold that typeof weight that merch sales did that great
for Game one. That's incredible.It was, and it was I think

it's it was. It was reallyawesome and it's I'm so proud of the
team because there was a million differenttimes they could have quit on Saturday night.
So proud of coach where coach holliscoach, he say the crew because
they pushed the right buttons at half. You know, I didn't, I
couldn't go. I was I couldhave snuck in there, but I didn't.

My understanding is it was a littlebit of a little bit of good
cop, bad cop. You know, one going what are you doing?
Don't do that again. The otherone going stay calm, you know your
job, you know, but justpushing all the right buttons, getting it
done and staying in it, stayingin it, pushing it, pushing it,
and ultimately winning in overtime. Forthose who didn't get an opportunity to
follow the game or know what happened, the Firebirds were down sixteen oh basically

before the offense even took the field. I believe, before any offensive play
was run. It was sixteen nothingof Orlando, Yeah fumble. We'd all
kinds of so crazy with all thehype, the return of the Firebirds,
the home out Saturday night, beforethe home crowd get into it, down
sixteen to nothing and the comebacks startin why it was an instant classic and
everything else. I'm gonna save thisquestion for coach where no, no,

you know, I'm gonna ask youfirst. I think I know Coach wears
answer, but you might be abledoff a little bit more insight before I
ask him tomorrow. The pivotal playin that game is less than a minute
to go. The Firebirds are downseven, it's fifty nine to fifty two,
and Orlando brings on a field goalkicker Now, for those who don't
know the Arena Football League rules ona fourth down deep in your own territory.

If you're watching outdoor football, youknow you're gonna punt and make the
team go to try to win thegame, not necessarily the same strategy in
indoor football, which we get tooin a secon arena football, which we
get to in a second. SoOrlando kicks it to me Levac. That
doesn't like look like a field goalattempt. That looks like whatever version of
a punt is is a punt.Mark Elwade catches the ball in the end

zone, basically runs it in fora touch and I believe he's tackled at
the half yard line. One yardline. They punched it in late.
But I said this during the broadcastto Andrew Santillo. I said, most
people who are watching this game thinkthat that was a great play by Albany,

where coach keif coach, but aspeople in the past who've coached these teams,

the goal for arena football is tohave the ball last. So what
happened was even though Albany tied thegame, Orlando had the ball to score

that that field goal attempt a Lapunt was a chess move by coach Burt
for Orlando to make sure the Predatorshad the ball last. Yeah, okay,

I mean most likely I would thinkso. But the the overtime play
is what always like that got mebecause if if Mark hits the deuce on
the kickoff or Roscoe, we went, it's over, game's over. Sudden
death, doesn't we go down thefield, go to kick the field goal,

miss it, but you miss itoff the uprights touched by the receiving
teams. That's a live ball.We get it back. We end up
kicking the field goal to win thegame. After Gold plays, it was
everybody looking around, like what happens, what's gonna happen? How what's the
rule here? And the rest weresaying it, you know, but it
was just like it's one of thosedeals where like you're sitting there, you're

trying to let people know what's gonnahappen, but at the same time,
like I'm so in the moment,I don't want to talk to anybody I'm
watching this game that it was.It was. It was a great game,
instant classic, like every sense ofthe word instant classic. There's a
part of me that wished during thebroadcast. Interesting until by the way,
my partner, awesome. I thinkit's the best state job. Thank you
man. I think that's the bestgame he's called in four years. And

hopefully he's listening. He was fat. But it's almost a new compliment now
in twenty twenty four, how oftendu all your calls get shared on social

we were on it. It reallytruly, which is the odd way ball
teams did have a possession anyways,because of the fumble and because of the
miskick and everything else. So allbut he wins. I don't want to
do this because we're having so muchfun. But it got a little weird
at the end of the game thereback at the fifteen yard line. Everything's
okay. Anybody get injured. Oh, it got a little nasty there at
the end of the game. Alittle skirmish's been suspended or anything. Everybody's

fine. I haven't seen any injuries. I don't I don't know what the
league ultimately I'm doing. I thinkthat the if it were up to me,
this would be a situation where warningsare issued, you know, if
you have to suspend people. It'sa game here, game there nothing,

nothing serious. I just think itwas such an emotional game. It was
so emotional. It was so likeOrlando was convinced they had this game one.
Then we started coming back. Wewere convinced we were gonna overtake them.
We don't. They're like, okaywith ours again that we do we
do beat them. It was itwas all over the place, and it's

it stinks that it went to thatlevel, that there was violence of some
variety, but it was broken up. Nobody got hurt. And I really,
really really think that you saw thetwo best teams in the AFL play
and I would hate to see eitherone of those teams lose any kind of
real ground or traction because of that. You mentioned the emotion of the game
and coach where might get mad atme for saying this, or he'll feel

like it motivates them. You canuse this the old school bulletin board material.
Orlando felt like the better team fora lot of that game. They
did, They felt like they Youmentioned this to lead off the show thirty
seconds and that's the best Predator teamyou've seen for decades plus. They're so
good. I said it during thebroadcast that if these aren't the top two
teams in the league, I'm aboutto find out who they are, because
that's about as good as you get. A huge play in that game for

Orlando, and you mentioned the emotionkJ excuse me, DJ, DJ Callhoun
got injured, and not just aninjury, that was a leg up in
the air, immediate medics on thefield, nasty stretcher, Like, it's
about as nasty as you can getwhen someone gets rolled up on a field.
And he was their star player ofthe game. Defensively, he would
have won the MVP of that gameas good as Powell played a quarterback Calhoun

and what he was doing on thefield. His injury changed that game both
X's and O's, but emotionally forOrlando, well, yeah, I mean
that was that was one of thoseones where I was, I was all
over the building, like you know, you've seen me on game days.
It's there's some and you you gottahave your hand on everything. You gotta

make sure that everybody's having a goodtime and everything like that. So that
was at that exact moment in time, I went to check the stream,
so I was, I was,I was checking to make sure that we
were broadcasting the right way. SoI heard that from you guys. I
heard you. And and Andrew Santilloexplained that play and everything and so much

The the guys who were in chargeof all that, because they pulled
back. They pulled the camera back. So you guys did a good point
