(00:00):
It's love, Aking Guz on thevoice of the Capitol Regions sports fan Fox
Sports ninety five, nine and nineeighty bit of a late night between the
Knicks, Pacers, and the hI finally found as I mentioned the the
roast, Are you okay? Hournumber three? I saw you make some
faces in the break. I don'tknow if I did something or hit so

(00:22):
are you all right? What happened? And o're there? I'm I don't
know if I'm impressed that you pickedit up or them upset that it took
you two hours? I'm a rack, I am so. I had a
doctor's apployment this morning just to checkup. Just normal, but it's perfect
because I want to make sure thatshe's just allergy, said, because my

(00:42):
voice is still a little crack likeit' still got it, still got some
them them going on. So Igo to the doctor and the nurse sweetheart,
she's walking me back. She's like, you know what, She's like
here, you have a little cough. Do you mind wearing a mask?
When docks in the room, I'mlike, whatever you need, I don't,
I don't care, and I goI don't have a fever, just

(01:03):
you know, I do I checkthat, and she goes, we had
two people last week no fevers. They both had COVID and we have some
people with stuff. And I'm like, okay, you know, and I
saw her look at me. Igo, if you really want to pick
my nose, feel free to testme for COVID, Like I was like,
if you want, like it's Idon't care, like whatever. Like
I'm that one when I get tothe doctor's office, like I don't go

(01:25):
after the flu shot. I don'tgo after you. I said. If
I'm at the doctor's office and hegoes, you want it, I'm like,
I don't care. Yeah, whatever, go ahead, pincushion me.
I don't care. So I don'thave COVID. I don't have anything.
I've actually lost a decent amount ofweights. The last time he seen me,
He's doc is thrilled. He said, we're having a blast. But
then he goes, you know becauseof the weight, because you know you

(01:48):
obviously you're stressed out. He mightbe listening right now too. He goes,
you might do a little blood workand everything. I want to keep
an eye on you, make sureyou're good and everything. I'm like,
yeah, sure, no problem.Okay, he goes upstairs. Bo't take
care of you. So I goin the lab. Wait, yeah,
cool system. Wasn't there very longat all? You know, we weeded
a cup. Hold on, dude, everything's gone moving move like like four

(02:12):
years ago. I almost passed outwhen they were taking my blood. So
I always warned them because I'm alarge human, like if I if I
hit the floor, you better bringfriends because you're not getting me right up,
you know what I mean. Sothey moved me in this chair that's
declined and put me in everything.Everything's going smooth, everything's cool. She
goes, gotcha, you know, hasn't got the blood. The next thing

(02:37):
I know, I've got two womenyelling in my face trying to wake me
up. I passed the bleep outI was, I guess I went full
Frankenstein. Arms in the air.I was gone time travel. I was
like, how long was I outthere? Like just a little couple of

(02:59):
seconds you were But but it wasonce it was clear it was clear you
were out, I went out.I so like now I looked at him,
I go, I'd prefer not giveany more blood. Did you get
what you need? Like? No, any But we can't do your blood
today because you passed out. Yougotta come back tomorrow the next day.
I hope my doctor isn't listening.I'm not going back. I'm not going

(03:20):
back. I'm not going back.I went, guys, it was I
have I have never passed out likethat without being kid like. I've been
knocked out on a football field.I've been knocked out. I got punched
in the face one time. Igot knocked out. I know that feeling.
Never like that, like I Imean, like I my blood pressure

(03:43):
went up one time when they weredoing my blood. I would I was
out. I have never been knockedout. But to you, I'm asking
this, like, so the UFCwas the first thing that popped my head
when you brought that up, likeokay, he went limp and then just
woke back up or got choked outlike a UFC. So like you're telling
me, your brain went from hertalking to you the next thing, you

(04:03):
know, I call like the realold school radio term. The real started
back up. When they're yelling atyour face. You have no recollection you
ever. I remember I remember goingwow, get a little sweaty. I
don't, I don't, I don'tfeel and then like when you you were
like, have somebody wake you up, like like maybe Jordan, your wife

(04:23):
goes Thomas Thomas or you got Thomaslike that and you wig, you start
to come to so like you hearit in the back of it was that
it was the It was these youknow, two lovely women yelling Jeffrey jeff
Jeffrey Jeffrey, and I'm like,am I all right? Was was there
other people there? Like so ohgosh yeah? And the door was open,

(04:46):
so everybody I got, God blesseverybody in the weighting room who acted
like nothing happened when I left, cause I walk out and like I'm gonna
tell you a little a little secrettoo, a little something. Pretty sure.
I farted. It was stinky itno I didn't. I didn't,
Thank God, thank God, becausethat was my fear. That was my

(05:06):
fear, Like was I out sobad that the body just went have ad
it? I was a little nervous, like this is when you like everybody
live back. Gods, you don'tget this anywhere else. This is the
kind of friggin real breakdown. I'mvery happy you're okay, but now I
want to I don't feel okay.I wish I was there when you passed
out. I'm glad you weren't.Actually the only thing I was thinking,

(05:29):
because the lady did say my armswent up in the air, my arm
all that. I kind of dowish somebody grab the camera. I'm kind
of wish somebody would pull the phoneout, went here you go, and
just gave it to me. Idon't want anybody else to have it.
It is imagine you were passed outlonger than they said you're you wake up?
Oh my god, it stinks.God, who did you? We

(05:49):
know it's you. We've been herethe whole time. We heard your fart,
sir. It was a stink. So you're okay. Now you're not
gonna pass out for the last hourof the show. I have a headache.
I have had a headache all day. I wonder if I'm just lily
over. I was a little dehydrated, didn't sleep. Stress level has been
at a twelve on a scale often. So I think it all came
together and caught me, you know, right then and there, because again

(06:11):
I didn't I didn't sleep last night. I may e slept for an hour
because I just was I was thenext game had me so riled was so
riled up. And then buddy ofmine, you know, it was like,
hey, I know you're not goingto watch it tonight. It was
like twelve thirty something like that, maybe one whatever it was later, but

(06:31):
here here's the roast of Tom Brady. I went, yeah, no way,
I'll be able to watch that tonight. Play it's like four hours long.
It's three hours and forty five minuteslong. And I watched all but
like I think the last like thirtyminutes, and I probably fell asleep about
five, got up at six. That's what That's what I did last night.
So like all that came together.I could go back right now and

(06:55):
probably be fine. But because Ipassed out, my head's like completely a
headache for a while. I'm comingthe next time they take your blood.
I'm filming it. We're getting theconcept. Levac checks out. If you're
a doctor listening to the show atthe Jeff Levaca on Twitter, Facebook,
please I only have one doctor.I only have one doctor. He might
be listening and he's amazing. DoctorEnziine is amazing. He's amazing. Those

(07:16):
the ladies in the lab, theywere great. I just man, I
just I think it was like aperfect storm and then a thunder it as
well. I just again like I'magain when I smelt it and I knew
I dealt it. I was prettysure. I mean I wasn't out,
I know a hundred percent, Likelike if I was one of them,
if I was one of the ifI was a lab sack and I was

(07:38):
like kind of unscrupulous, I wouldtotally have farted right down. Like God,
this guy farted. I was alittle nervous. I was. I
was like, got him? DidI did I poopy? Like did it
happen? Nothing? No, I'mgood, clean shorts, clean shorts,
clear hars, can't lose. Manjust just didn't say though it was.

(08:00):
So that's been on my head allday. That's been on my head all
day. So I've been dealing withstuff doing like there's a lot going on
with of course the Firebirds as alwaysall those things, and then getting ready
for the show and all that, and I'm just like, why did I
pass out? And then and thenyou want to you want to take things
to another level of the perfect storm. Yes, my daughter officially passed year

(08:20):
one of nursing school. Night,Let's go do you want unsolicited medical diagnosis?
Have a daughter who is who's halfwayto being a nurse. After you
pass out at a doctor's office? But Dad, how was it I passed
out? You might probably low iron, maybe an emic, dehydrated, stress

(08:43):
level? How is your weight? Are you doing you? I know you've
been losing weight. I know, like all of a sudden, I'm like,
you don't you don't work here,I'm not paying you. Just imagine
your daughter now with like a whitecoat, but it's not the white coat,
just the clipboard and the uh,the stuff is going. Thank you.
The just examining strong heart, docsaid, heart sounds great, big

(09:09):
heart, not even at enlarged.Do you after your incident today, after
passing out in public, passing outand then passing wind, do you have
a newer you have a newer suspectfor fighters? You know they're they're passing
out in public purpose, Like they'rebasically doing it on purpose. I just
I was just going to make sureI'm still not diabetic. I would say

(09:31):
getting knocked out in public or gettingchoked out in front of people could be
embarrassing. Yeah, you pass isjust yeah, this is just embarrassing.
No, This is way worse. You think it's worse than it knocked out?
Hell, yeah, knocked out likelike when you go into a cage
or a boxing ring or something orwhatever, like we know why you're there.

(09:54):
It's it's kill or be killed ifhe knocked out or knock out or
be knocked out. This was Imean like three people's grandmas went before me,
gave like a jug of blood. You know, each one of them
is over there like ass is nothing. You know, you want a hard
candy loiss like like what? Andthen then you know, my big fat

(10:15):
ass sits down like and you knowI was probably yelling. It's probably screaming
for someone. They wouldn't recount itfor me. They didn't want to embarrass
me anymore. It was bad.Yeah, yeah, anyone, but guys,
he's spilled me that coach where, don't swear? Where's coach where?

(10:37):
He don't know yet he's coming up. Oh should we tell I passed out
today? Sir? She kept yellingabout the Yankees while you were past.
Yeah you kept you kept calling theOrioles a bunch of baby back b words.
What the heck was that? Wecan ask? Coach aware? Is
coach were aware of what happened. No, so I went home. I
went home. I worked from homemost of today. And the best part

(11:00):
is everybody's scattered. So because ofall the stuff going on at MVP Arena,
the guys are practicing over at HudsonValley, and then you know,
Mike's in the belfour office, andhe's at the Mohawk office, Richie's uh,
you know, Constant Farms, scoops, ice cream about to all that
stuff. He's everywhere, so Ican be anywhere. So as I as

(11:20):
long as I answered one of mythree phones, i'm I can still get
everything done. I said this toMike Korda, the owner of the Firebirds
daughter the last time she was outand know that with us, and I
said two point oh, I saidto I said, you know you and
I are in the line of secession, right, what gods, what are
you talking about? It go?If certain things happen, you and I
will technically be the owners of theFirebirds. And then I think you had

(11:41):
to remind me. She was farhigher on that list than I was.
So she's on the list you're noton. How how do you see yourself
as part of the list in thosemoments where people might be out of their
realm, out of their senses. So all of a sudden, Colorida,
Andy Gelcher and Richie says that areall abducted safely whisked away. I say,

(12:05):
incapacitated, but but safely whisked away. You know they're there's no harm.
Will befall them, However, they'renot here to you somehow would take
some you somewhere on that list thatwould take over. I don't know where
on the list is, I explainedto her, but I'm on the list.
I think probably after her and thenafter you, So I'm probably like

(12:26):
sixth or seventh in my mind mentally, Okay, I go, I'll give
you the list if you want.Well, it's me. Well you the
list, you were incapacity. SoI've been taken with them. Now I'm
part of this. So what I'msaying for you, for you to take
over, I have to figure Ihave to figure out how many how many
Firebirds executives and owners have been havebeen abducted and whisked off to us just

(12:50):
safe location. So now it's it'sthe three owners and me have all been
abducted comfortably. We've been whisked away. Someone someone took a spec of blood
from me and I passed out.I'm down. I'm down for the count,
just farting away in the corner. So like, so now I'm not
there. So who's in charge next? Damon Ware? Okay? After coach?

(13:11):
Okay, well you're now you're goingto a plaint where I don't know
what you're in charge of because ifyou don't have coach where to run the
team, I don't know what aftercoach where it's probably it's probably a mixture
of Joan Naire, Nick Venard andother people that we actually pay. I

(13:31):
think I slotted there. I thinkthat's my slot. So what happened today?
You were a president? You havewill talk to coach where come Await
a second, this is important. We will get to coach wear firebird fans.
This needs to be solved right now. You are a team president.
And in similar fashions, the presidentsof the United States of America when they
go in for surgery a succession planthat's exactly right. Well, even at

(13:52):
times when they're incapacitated, another presidentis sworn in during those moments when they're
in surgery. You would have tothe right person for the job would have
to be drafted. Okay, youwould have to drag Matt Woods of Shaker
and Hobart Fame back into work tohave it go right? Can we do
this at least? And I talkedto Matt the other day. If you

(14:13):
ever pass out again from taking blood, can I take over in that small
window and that for like six seconds? Six seconds I think as a friend
is a colleague most importantly friend, let me say again co host that if
the president of the Firebirds, andyou're listening right now, I want your
vote at tom gods t O MG. It was easy. If you were

(14:35):
ever in that state again, Iwill personally not only be there, which
I volunteered minutes ago to do,but I will take over your role for
those few seconds. What what willbe your first you know order? What
will be your first command? Inmemory of post of you? And then
when you, like Ben will alreadyhave it out there. You've already you've
already gone, already passed, You'vealready passed, and it's up on social

(14:58):
media. It's gotta be true.Earlier today, President Jeff Levak of the
Albany Firebirds passed away and passed windand then passed back right back. He
was Okay, I'm not dead, guys, not dead yet. Got a
picture right here a bunch of nurses, arms in the air like Frankenstein,
fart and away. I don't knowwhy I'm single. I don't know,

(15:22):
Coach wears on the way. Nextit's Lavak and Guz on ninety five nine
Fox Sports Radio. Join us now. The head coach, the general manager
of the Albany Firebirds, Damon WhareCoach. It's every year that you and
I have worked together, there's beena moment where we look at each other
and go, after this season,it's gonna get easier, and it never

(15:45):
does. How are you keeping theguys insulated from the rumors and the craziness
that's going on around the world ofarena and indoor football. At the end
of the day, we are goingto compete four Championship's got a great football
team, We've got a great organizationhere in the Capitol region, so we
don't have to worry about some ofthat. But it's always never fun to

(16:07):
see all the rumor mills and thingsthat's going on, and there's always some
things that need to get better, and so we're going to sit back and
let all the owners get together andfigure those things out so we can stay
lives and get the rest of theseason done so we could chase championship.
Let's flip back to the Nashville game, the most recent matchup for you guys,

(16:29):
pushing the record of two and oh, when you look back at this
Nashville team and in particular that defensiveline in defense, a team that Allbody
fans had not seen before, afranchise that's truly relatively new, how impressed
were you by that Nashville team soearly in the season. No, that's
a good football team. And weknew that they got a lot of x
NFL x USFL XFL guys, sothey got a lot of names and they

(16:53):
were good ball players. You know. Obviously, I think we had the
upper hand just as far as rotationsand those kind of things. And you
know, there were some challenges therethat they've had, but not the good
football team and they got some reallygood players. I mean, their defensive
line and is really top notch.I mean the number nine over eleven,
number five. They were giving usall that we could handle. But we've

(17:15):
got a darn good football team ourselvesand we were able to you know,
keep them at bay and move theball down the field, and that was
important for us. I know, this is what they pay me to do,
like talk about the greatest of alltime in rankings and where does this
stack up and legacy. That's thesports talk radio show guys job. But
we need to do that a littlebit here with the Darius Prince performance.

(17:37):
You've seen him play in so manydifferent games and so many huge putouts in
showing performances multiple touchdowns. Coach,it feels like that's one of the best
games we've ever seen from Darius Prince. He's had a lot of really good
games, and you know, he'shad some six touchdown performances before, so
he had five the other night.Obviously a great performance it was, and

(18:00):
they were just all clutched, theywere all important catches and so he did
a great job. But that's whatI expect out of him. It's you
know, maybe maybe the outside worldthey're they're you know, mesmerized by the
performance, but that's really what Iexpected him. That's why we've hung together
and done the things that we've done, is I really do expect those things

(18:21):
out of him, and uh,you know again him and Jaker are finally
starting to build some continuity and that'sgoing to be big for us down stretch.
Coach didn't wear with us right now, Lavan guys on Fox Sports Radio
ninety five, nine nine eighty anduh, Coach, I know, it's
it's still early in the season. It's not always you know, as cut
and dry as all this. Butare the Orlando, Nashville and what the

(18:42):
West Texas? Would those be thethree top teams at this moment not named
Albany Firebirds. Yeah, that's athat's a that's a good assessment. So
so getting through these first two gameswith wins, hard fought wins, nothing
but you know, steel, strengthand steel at this point absolutely. Uh.
You know, we had a reallytough schedule to start the season,

(19:04):
and we knew we were going togo through the gauntlets of those first two
games. So to come out ofthose two and zero is it means a
lot to us as an organization andas a team itself. And you know,
again, we haven't kind of closeto our ceiling yet and so we've
got a long way to go.We can get a lot better, and
so it's very encouraging. I knewwe put together a great football team this

(19:25):
year, so just to see itstart clicking and moving forward is just a
it's a fun thing. And butwe've we've got a lot of work to
do still, and I think wecan get a lot better. It's scary
to hear you say that, tohear this team who's two and o,
who's playing this well, can getbetter, and it's all true. I
want to ask about Phil Barnett thesegment, but first let me ask you
about how good this offense is.Coach. Is the stats still alive for

(19:48):
the next home game that this offensehas scored on every possession so far this
season? Yeah, it's it's amazing. I can't I can't say that it's
not. It's to go to gamesand score every possession is a huge thing.
And and again to know that westill got a lot of work to
do, that's what's incredible. AndI knew this offense was going to be

(20:11):
great. And but the cool partis our defense is getting better. And
as I said, we put alot of you know, time and energy
into the right prospects out of youcfor our defense, and they didn't you
know, they played Nashville just youknow, just had a great game,
had some very timely turnovers, youknow, stop them at the one yard
line and and force the fumble andHobbs giving me, you know, the

(20:33):
pick down on the other side ofthe red zone. Those are huge moments,
and so that's really what I'm morehappy about right now is just seeing
our defense get better, and asthey get better, the games is just
going to get more and more exciting. Coach, what was what was the
locker room like? Because with likea minute left in the first half,
you guys are up twenty seventh, was should say we are? We're up

(20:55):
twenty seven on the field, andthen just some craziness happens in the kicking
game. We were trailing twenty oneto twenty at the half. What was
the locker room like at that moment? Because the defense looked phenomenal, special
teams look phenomenal, and then justthat quick hiccup and we're trailing, you
know, And that's the funny partabout this game. It's more like a
basketball game, so things can happen, the ebbs and flows, and you

(21:17):
know, we just didn't close outa half as you know, as we
wanted to, and so you know, we gave up a long easy touchdowns
to screw it up in the air, you know, fadeball and let that
go. Then we come back andyou know, have some trouble in the
return game again, and they wereable to score right there to go in.
Uh, you know, it's justjust for them, that's exciting.

(21:38):
We knew we should have held themthe seven points in the first half and
so you know, but but goingto the locker room, we knew that
that. You know, they theywere having trouble against us, and you
could see just just some of thebannerisms of them. Uh, they knew
they were facing a great opponent. And I don't think they really realized how
good of the football team they werefacing. I think a lot of the

(22:00):
chatter and you know, people inthe media are telling them how great they
are. I think they really thoughtthey were that good, and so they
ran into a buzz saw on usand had a great football team. And
so they really saw and talking totheir guys after the game, they were
you know, they were kind ofmesmerize. They were like, Wow,
you guys are everything that people sayyou are. And then some and so

(22:22):
you know, like I said,it's a long season. We're just happy
to be two and zero and andjust moving on to Minnesota this week.
And you know, we just gotto keep getting better. I mean that's
really our model every day is justget better every day. If we can
get better every day, every game, play our best football at the end
of the year going to the playoffs, we can stay healthy. We got
a great chance to win the championshipagain in twenty twenty four. Is the
head coach at the Albany Firebirds Coachdemon where joins us here on the phone

(22:45):
lines. Thanks to Elevation ten thousand, elevate your brand today with Elevation ten
thousand, don't forget a all newlive episode of Flock University schedules for tomorrow,
and you could hear the audio onlyreplayed version right here on Fox Sports
nine o'clock on Saturdays. And youmentioned the game now Monday, May thirteenth,
kickoff set for six thirty against Minnesota. Tickets on sale now. We

(23:07):
did a ticket giveaway earlier in theshow. Well, Mac, you and
I are gonna be broadcasting live fromMVP Arena this Monday. Really cool that
Fox Sports is gonna be in attendance. Coach I tease this a few minutes
ago. Let's slip back to PhilipBartnett. Our Capitol Region sports fans likely
to see Philip Bartnett make his seasondebut, maybe as soon as this Monday.
Yeah, so he You know,we needed a little bit of time

(23:30):
to get him healthy. Obviously,he's an important part of our team moving
forward, so we know without thebye weeks, it was important to get
him healthy early. He's done.So he's done a great job of just
attacking his rehab just like everything else. And so there is a very really
good chance that you'll see him onMonday night. Coach. Obviously, our
original plan was we've been getting ona plane this weekend, heading out to

(23:52):
Minnesota, playing there, flying back. What does this mean for you now
that because of the Timberwell, weare going to stay here and stay put
play right here. Is this excitingfor the team? Are the guys a
little bummed out that they don't getto travel? Where are we at?
No? We love to be home. We love our crowd, we love
to be in the Capitol Region. We love to wake up in our own

(24:14):
beds and keep a tight schedule hereat home. So we're super excited you
know, obviously it's always fun toget on the road and be you know,
us against the world kind of mentality, and we'll get there later this
season. But we'll take another homegame, especially for our crowd, and
hopefully we can get more and newand exciting fans to join us and support

(24:36):
us the rest of the way.I love it. He is the head
coach, he is the general manager. As guys mentioned, we'll be live
at the war room tomorrow night forFlock University and Coach, like I said,
I feel like one day we're justgoing to walk in and it's going
to be football as usual. ButI may also just be insane. Right

(24:57):
now, it just seems like that'sno near the happening. But you know
what, that's the fun part. We'll we'll get through this adversity as we
do everything else and uh and justas long as we can say we at
and stay winning football games and entertainour crowd, UH, we'll be happy
to do what we're doing. Coach, I know that felt like the sign
off. We have breaking news involvingyour team president. I don't know if

(25:18):
you've heard this today, Jeff CoachLevac went in for a routine check up
today to the doctor, and theydrew blood. The big man passed out.
Levac passed out at his doctor's appointmenttoday. He told the story everybody.
I wish I could have got thatold film. I didn't too,

(25:38):
Coach, he told us about twentyminutes ago. We will send you the
audio. He passed out. Luckily, two wonderful nurses were there. So
if you scenes out of sorts,he Levac, would you like to defend
yourself? You really passed out todayto doctors. No, I'm just I'm
glad I can spread some joy.The president was out of it. He
was incapacity. Coach, I was. I was ready to step up.

(26:02):
If you need a vice president inwaiting the secession line, I'm ready to
step up. If he passes outagain, here's one of my best friends,
Coach, he's over going. DoI get to take over if you
pass out again? I'm like,no, wait, take over everything.
That's awesome. You gotta have friendslike that. Let's let's get some nurses.
Following Levaca on Monday and at FlockUniverse, if someone shows up in

(26:25):
white robes, if our guy Tommyshows up or Lisa at Flock University,
dresses, nurses, keep an extraeye on our guy. Lovak, He'll
be all right. Anything, justdon't show many needles. No, thank
you, I got nothing I got. I can't even defend myself. I
can't eve an eye on him thisweek, luck, tomorrow, will I'll
see a coach all right, we'llsee coach away. He just lost it.

(26:52):
He lost He could have been onthe phone for another two minutes he
did. Did he even ask ifyou're okay? I think you knew because
we had a full conversation. Ithink if we I would like to believe
that if we had opened the conversationwith hey, Levac passed out, I
think I would like to believe he'dbe like, okay, and then and
then whatever. But we just hada full conversation, so I'm I choose

(27:15):
to believe he knew that he didn'thave to worry about me, okay.
And again it was this has beenyou know, these testosterone filled just he
men running around, nothing bothers them. Apparently I just I dropped, man,
I was I'm not. I don'tknow. I don't know how it
happened. I don't know why ithappened. I will tell you this luckily
for me. Luckily for me,they find women in my doctor's office in

(27:38):
the lab. They planned ahead because, as you know, failing the plan
is playing. I taught them that, and that now they do that just
like I, just like I learnedtalking to our good friend Drew Prescott Prescott
PW dot com Drew Prescott Financial PrivateWealth Management, the guy who's gonna take

(27:59):
you from where you are and andhelp you build a plan to get where
you want to be financially long term. You know, is it? Is
it something where life insurance out ofyour portfolio is important? Is it something
where you know there's a certain varietyof mutual fund or a stock that you
should be looking at? What is? We all know the world of finance
is a very crazy one. Youcan't guarantee anything, but I guarantee if

(28:23):
you don't have a good plan, you're gonna have a rough ride. This
way you call five one, eightto zero three, nineteen eighty three,
Drew Prescott. You sit down, put together a great plan, and you
know, theoretically or however you wantto put it, you're on your way
to financial private wealth. Not likeme passed out farting in a chair called

(28:48):
Drew Prescott today, I would saytwo zero three nineteen eighty three, one
more time on the number five oneeight to zero three one nine eighty three,
just call me like I was listeningto the VAC and guys today,
I don't want to be pa stillfarting. I want to be I want
to have private wealth. I thoughtabout calling before, but now is the
time, after hearing Levac passing outand farting and potentially be no longer with

(29:11):
us. Dude, you know what? You know that right after and by
the way, Drew Prescott prescottpw dotcom one more time five one eight two
zero three nineteen eighty three. Plantoday, maybe any life insurance. Maybe
you never know, I could randomlygive blood. Who else? You know
that ware is already on the phonewith Darius Prince, Dwayne Hollis, probably

(29:33):
Andy Gelcher, and they are allmocking me hlagiously. There's a chance they
call back in you know the doyou know the policy? I don't let
people call back in twice in oneshow. That phone. Luckily will be
busy here in a few minutes.Because I'm so hyped for this, I
cannot believe me. Tomorrow they'll getme during the all right tomorrow, Okay,
yeah, I know, before weclose out today's show. I'm so

(29:53):
hyped for this because Corey from Greenwichactually stepped up and made this happen.
So credit to him, Colebergess, the pride of Greenwich, the pride of
Courtland. See a D three athletegetting signed by an NFL team, a
local product getting a shot at theNFL. He is gonna join us over
the phone next a few days beforehe heads out to rookie OTA's in mini
camp. So Colbert's la back.I might take the lead on this because

(30:15):
I'm very excited. Yes, he'sgonna join us next time. I might
pass out oh South this Tuesday.Additional backing guys Fox Sports ninety five,
nine and nine eighty. It's Lavackand Godz on ninety five to nine Fox
Sports Radio. I have been lookingforward to talking to this guy. He's
got the pride of Greenwich, thepride of D three football man doing it

(30:37):
for all those guys who are groundgrinding through it, and now he's got
an opportunity to move on to theprofessional level. Greenwich is owned Cortland State
National Champion and now Cincinnati Bengal Colbergjust joined US coal. First of all,
man, Uh, what's it feellike getting this opportunity to play at
the next level so far? Imean, I haven't gotten there yet.

(31:00):
I'm not in the building yet,but to know that I'll be there in
a few days is a good feeling. You know, all the hard work's
paying off and I finally got myfoot in the door. So now I's
got to make the most of theopportunity. Let's go way way way back
here. We're going back to ayoung Kole from Greenwich. Take us through
the recruiting process. You ended upin Courtland, But how did you end
up becoming a Red Dragon and playingfor eventually a national championship winning program.

(31:25):
So yeah, I went to asmall school of green which I graduated with
less than seventy kids, So Inever really had too much exposure coming out
of high school. I didn't reallygo to any camps or anything like that
for football. But I was gettingrecruited for football with a by a bunch
of the small D three schools inNew York. But I got recruited to
Courtland actually from the baseball team. The baseball coach recruited me and I told
him I wanted to play football aswell, so we reached out to the

(31:48):
football coach and they set that upand I ended up playing football in baseball
my freshman year, and my momactually graduated from Courtland, so I had
that connection going in there as well. Wait a se So there's truly a
chance because of the look at asmall school that you might have never even
stepped foot on the football field, you needed a different twist to go in

(32:09):
your drink. Cool already. It'san amazing story man, to have that
happen. Yeah, I mean,I was definitely playing football, but the
baseball coach helped me make that happenat Courland. If it wasn't for that,
I would have been playing at Ethaca. Honestly, crazy to think about
all the things that had to gothat have that happen. Joining us on
the phone lines now, the productGreenwich Cole Burgess joins us Fox Sports ninety

(32:31):
five to nine to nine eighty. So let's go through this most recent season
for Courland. You have a fantasticseason, but when you were evaluating your
teammates and your roster and your coaches, do you think your team was capable
as soon as twenty twenty three ofbeing the national champions. Yeah, I
knew that the offense had what ittakes because we had a lot of guys
returning from the year prior, andwe just had a lot of big play

(32:52):
capabilities and all over the field wehad weapons. And then when we came
into camp, we had some transfers, we had some young guys step up,
and I could tell that we hada special team. I didn't know
that we were gonna win a nationalchampionship, but I knew that we were
going to take it far into theplayoffs. But the deeper we got throughout
the run of the playoffs, themore I believe that this team was capable
of winning the national championship. Now, you said something just a few minutes

(33:15):
ago that most people who are Courtlandalumni don't even want to say. They
considered a swear word. But youtalked about recruiting about the rival Ithaca.
For those who haven't had the opportunity, maybe they've just gone as fans or
gone as alumni. Explain what it'slike to play to Cordica Jug. Cordica
Jug, I mean for a smallschool kid and then a D three kid
playing football. It is the craziestgame of all time. I mean,

(33:38):
I can't speak on the SCC gamesand all that, but for a guy
like me who was from a smallschool, never really got a play in
a big venue and stuff, itwas awesome. I mean, I got
to play at Yankee Stadium, MetLifeStadium. We broke attendance records, and
I would say that the best timewas when we played this last year at
Ithaca in front of their home fans, and it was just an experience like

(34:00):
no other. The passion, theexcitement, how much people care about the
games, what it means to thosetowns and communities and everything else that is
so cool to watch. I toldyou this before. We talked as a
D three kid, as a Hobartfootball kid. Watch do you do your
thing? I'm so impressed and sohappy to call you one of our own.
But we got to talk about theother chip on the shoulder. We'll

(34:20):
say about Division III football is thatwhen the opportunity comes to play that the
next level professionals football. Maybe thescouts aren't always at practice. Maybe it's
harder to find somebody like you. When did you find out that you might
be on NFL team's radar and anopportunity might be on. It was it
as soon as this year where scoutshad practice. What was that like?
So the first time scouts came toCourtland was during the spring semester before the

(34:43):
twenty twenty three season. They camefrom me and Marler wide receiver JJ Lapp
who got signed to the Rams. But they came to just check us out,
get our measure balls and stuff. But once we came for football camp
in the August, we had I'dsay about three quarters of the NFL sent
scouts through at practice. Seemed likea new scout was there every day and
that lasted throughout the rest of theseason. But yeah, it was it

(35:05):
was cool having having the guys comeby just to look at us, knowing
that they were there for us,you know, like the NFL teams sent
them there look at us practice. So it was a cool feeling. Now
you can look back on this alittle bit though, the practices are always
intense, always competitive, But howmuch of it all do you think that
played the factor in your team's successthis season? That know, wing NFL
scouts were in practice, that practicegot turned up a little bit because you

(35:28):
knew who was watching you. Imean, I'll speak for me personally.
I always practice that way, butI can't speak on the other guys.
I'm sure that they motivated other guysto practice harder. But we had great
practices, very competitive. I mean, we were going at it no matter
who was there. Colbert just GreenwichHigh School, Zone, Cortland, States
own joins us here on the phonelines, Fox Sports, twinty five nine

(35:50):
to ninety Okay season wraps up.Transition happens. You start prepping for the
NFL level, you get the callfor Cincinnati. But over those last few
days post NFL Draft, what wasthat like, what was working in the
process and why did you ultimately decideon the Bengals. Yeah, I mean,
well, I don't know if youknow this or not, but the
offensive coordinator for the Bengals his damnPitchers of Courtland Grad himself. I think

(36:10):
he played, I don't know exactday, maybe twenty ten. He was
he was like All American quarterback andhe just got promoted offensive coordinator. Now,
so I had that connection and hewas really pulling for me. And
when the seventh round was going onand it looked like I wasn't getting picked.
We already had a deal in placebasically that if I didn't get drafted,
I was going to be a Bengals, So that was cool. And
then after the draft, I mean, it's only been about a week and

(36:31):
a half since the draft, butit's just been you know, a lot
of a lot of people coming upto me congratulating me. And from a
small town, everybody knows what's goingon, and it's just been cool seeing
all the support and all the lovefrom everybody around Cole it's the back man.
This had one question. Do youalready have a restraining order against Corey

(36:52):
who we call Corey from Greenwich? He calls all the time. He is
now You're now his favorite player. He writes us about you every day.
I do you already have paperwork inplace to keep him at a distance?
Not not yet, not yet.Just keeping in mind he he means well,
and he will bring you free meetand in the best possible way.

(37:12):
All right. Speaking about coach pitcherMan, what a bright mind and a
product. You you know him, work with him, you see him.
But this is a guy who hasan opportunity to be an NFL head coach
in the future. That's how goodhe is at this yeah, and and
the way he he's done everything isjust motivation for me because he came from
the same school I was and workedhis way up to where he is now.

(37:35):
So I just look at him asmotivation, Like why can't that be
me as a player? You know, why can't I come in as a
Division three player and work my wayup to be a starter, to make
impacts on offense, to betch teams? You know, like, I really
think this guy's limit for me,and knowing that coach Pitcher did it himself
is just motivating me even more.Is that? Is that the dream?
Just to contribute to to be theman? Like, what's what's the what's

(37:58):
the ceiling for you? I mean, I don't like to set limits for
myself because I mean, going backto winning the national championship, I never
really thought that was possible, butyou know, like a lot of things
can happen, and as long asI put to work in I really don't
see any limits for myself. Ican see myself being being a stud,
being catching touchdowns for Joe Burrow andhaving a long career. You know,

(38:19):
my goal right now? The averagelifespan of an NFL player is three years
or something. I want to beatthat. I'm trying to be in the
league for a while. So what'sthe next few days, a few weeks
look like for you when you report, when you check in, take us
through the journey. So I flyout Thursday morning, and then Thursday,
when I get there, it's kindof just a lot of orientation stuff,
getting my physical doing all that, and then Friday is Ricky Mini Camp,

(38:44):
and unlike other teams, the Bengalsonly have one day for Ricky Minnie Camp.
I think my coach said it's likeforty five minutes, and I think
we're just gonna be going through justlike some basic drills that will be going
through when like bets common stuff. But after that the next week, I'm
pretty sure I do like some rookieorientation stuff, getting accustomed to the NFL

(39:05):
rules, regulation stuff like that, and then practicing working out with the team,
learning the playbook, just being afull time football player, which I've
been dreamed of my whole life. That's awesome, Cole, And I don't
know if you could hear it,but like guys, as he mentioned,
he's also a D three guy.The jealousy just oozing through his voice.
Say, you're getting the opportunity hedreamed of and you earned it. You
worked so hard for it. We'reproud of you. Here in the Capitol

(39:28):
region. He wants he always wantedto be Ali marpet Now he wants to
be cole Vergess. Hey, I'llsay Ali Marpett, He's one of the
guys I look up to for along time, you know, watching him
play in the Super Bowl, TomBrady, he gave me so much faith
that he came from Division III.We played the whole bar a few times,
like, that's just motivation for me, knowing that he did it and
he came from where I come from. And yet so shout out to Ali

(39:50):
Marpett. Were you also motivated byme standing on the sidelines? Is there
any motivation from guys? Do youfifty on the sidelines? I just need
you to say that into the micro. Yeah, motivation from everywhere you know,
Hope. She gave me a lotof motivation. Caul, You're too
good. We cannot wait to rootfor you. We've already been rooting for
you to see this next success,in this next chapter in your journey.
Right here in the five one eight. We cannot wait to see you tear

(40:13):
it up man. Best of luckover the next few days, the next
few months, we'll all be keepingtabs on you and rooting for you,
man, So good luck kick someass there for the Bengals. All right,
what a good dude, man.No spots cut out there at the
end, but he's got a Dthree doing it big Cincinnati Bengal man love
Corey and Greenwich gave us the connection. Cole could not have been cooler on

(40:35):
the phone. I cannot wait toroot for him. He's just nice,
yes, nice guy. You know, he's like catching passes from from you
know, Joe Burrow. All thatvery exciting. I'm excited for him,
you know, just a pleasant, pleasant guy. Like it's you know,
you want to know, the weirdplace I live in right now, like
mentally, Like as much as I'mrooting for that guy, I'm also hoping

(40:58):
that he's forced to play for theFiremers instead. Maybe it's possible. We've
seen local connections to the Arena FootballLeague in the past. For sure.
The fact that Dan Pitcher, whohe mentioned, Dan Pitcher played at Colgate
Courtland. He's got a background inupstate New York. But that stuff means
so much like for another comparison, like imagine you had a job and your

(41:19):
four boss who went to the sameschool that you did, wants to bring
you in for a job opportunity. He's sticking his neck out for him a
little bit. He's the guy Colein the place. He's the one saying,
hey, look at a whatever number. Coles going to say seven,
Hey look for seven on the outsidehere. He's gonna help him and give
him every opportunity to have success asa D three kid, a Greenwich kid,

(41:39):
to make a roster in the NFL. And you know, hopefully when
the preseason rolls around and they're testingout that third and four string quarterback,
Cole is gonna be the target.Mat I cannot wait through root for him
so many cool things. And whetherit's at the NFL in the preseason,
whether who knows the Firebrids are gonnacome call real quick after this. If
he latches onto the practice squad forthe rip right then you're getting noticed.

(41:59):
Every week you're making money. You'rein the NFL, like even like there's
different ways to make it now thanthat used to be. It used to
be. If you weren't on thatfifty three man. You were peace out,
see you later. Now it's thefifty three man. I believe the
practice squad is about sixteen eight tosixteen ten upon the team, like how
much they carry. But like that'sI want to say, it's like sixteen

(42:21):
hundred to two grand a week thatyou get and you're in the NFL,
you know what I mean? Solike those ways, and you're around,
you're being noticed and the first timethere's a need, where do you think
they go first? I know thiskid, he knows what we wanted to
do. Boom. It's it's it'sa different world than a guy like that.
Just the fact that he's been noticed. It could be this guy could
be the limit. And that's andI love that. I don't like to

(42:42):
set limits. Now. I wishthat coach Ware had done the interview after
Cole. Cole was five twenty andthe coch who was that again? Oh
we got form Carlin coach Ware. We'll send you the audio. He's already
on his right now. There's notmuch the professor, missus, that's for
sure. Uh. Before we signoff, before we had one more shout
to Greenwich, because I know Corey, who knows Cole. Maybe in your

(43:05):
future, Lillian David Fine Jeelers theshops at Wilton up a little north,
maybe a little closer to Greenwich. If you want to head north, maybe
check out Cole's alma mater. Seewhere Corey and Greenwich is. Corey did
go to Lillian David Fine Jeelers. We appreciate him his wonderful fiance for the
engagement that I'll never have a marriage. Come on, Corey, come on,
time to do or get off thepot, get the wedding band again,

(43:25):

band. Stop in their family ownedand operated business helping you get ready for

Julius wants to help you find thatgift for her. And some of you

I'm sure i'll have more for youby tomorrow. It's a very interesting landscape

(44:35):
