lot. It's it's up to happy, up to everybody. It is a
great today to talk a little sports, have some fun, and do so
from a remote location. Guys backthere in the GT Toys studio that's Toys
with a Z. Guys, thanksfor holding it down as per usual.
(00:45):
I am over here in my officesat the MVP Arena, preparing, preparing
for more home games. That's right. We just were taking over the league
one home day at a time.Guzz Yes, there's a lot to get
to. I think I might tryto discuss that with you before this hour
breaks. Involving theory in a footballleague. I promised that myself I was
gonna stay off of social media.I've really promised myself I was gonna and
(01:08):
then I didn't. So I havesome questions for you before this hour ends
about what's going on in the league. We've got a lot to get to
today. Jackson Chamora from the AlbanyFireWolves a schedule to join us an hour
number three. So if you're aFirewolf fan and you're wondering, hey,
are they gonna stalk FireWolves Day fivetwenty, Jackson will talk about the NL
finals, the semi finals, andmore. We've got the Knicks coming up
(01:30):
later tonight on Fox Sports ninety fivenine to nine eighty. We've got your
calls at five penty six nine zerozero nine eight. Oh. We've got
a lot to get to on thisWednesday. Additional the hacing Gods, and
let's begin with the great news.Staying dong. The wich it old wicked
old Lastros are dead. Poof puta put a put it put his stake
in him under the nails in thecoffin over for the Astros, and I
(01:53):
guys, I couldn't be sadder.I mean, such a great team for
so long. Uh, you know, I kind of see adjacent. Some
would say cheating belief the beliefs thatthey are, but they just get slapped
around by the Yankees. Last nightas they should, which means the Yankees
are five and oh, five andoh against the Astros this year. And
(02:17):
you know, in the olden days, I used to once in a while
try to like, you know, pull back a little bit, you know,
uh, pull my punches when itcame to the Astros because of the
hometown affiliate. They don't have that. They're cheaters and they suck, and
I'm so happy about it. It'sover, it's done. The Astros had
a great run. They are appscheetoast of cheating. Yes, yes,
(02:42):
their legacy is going to be rememberedfor the trash cans and the whether or
not al two they had, thatweird buzzer underneath this jersey, and everything
else that happened to the Astros wefound out about. They will be tainted
when we think back in the courseof the history of the Houston Astros because
of the cheating scandal that was uncovered. However, the team that is on
the field now in twenty twenty four, they've got some players that are probably
(03:06):
still All Star caliber in the lineuphitting wise. But what we saw from
Justin Verlander last night, Justin Verlanderand Clayton Kershaw are in the talk of
who is the best picture of ageneration? How far back do you want
to go? Fifteen years, twentyyears, twenty five. I think's a
little too far with Roger Cubbins andPedro in that discussion, but we'll do
(03:29):
the last fifteen years. It's Kershawor Verlander. Verlander or Kershaw, who's
the best picture you've ever seen? For a sports fan that was probably from
elementary school to now out of college. It's over for Justin Verlander. You
had a great run. You wantan MVP, multiple World Series Champion,
multiple cy young, you're married toa supermodel. You're forty one years old.
(03:50):
This is in the end. Okay, last night is not Justin Verlander.
It's not a bad start. It'sover. It's done. Retire.
The Yankees have a really strong lineupthat got really good hitters. But Lovat,
you saw that, You saw theeffort of what was happening at the
plate for the Yankees and taking Verlanderdeep. That is not the guy that
one day is gonna be inducted intoCoopertown in the prime of his career.
(04:12):
He's a pretty good pitcher, He'sokay, but that's probably the last We're
gonna see of him. No,I mean you mean against the Yankees.
I would say in this twenty twentyfour season, like if you're a Met
fan, Met fan's gonna look backand be like, we had Schureser and
we had Verlander, and you're gonnafind out very quick Sarzer and Verlander and
(04:34):
sure's there's probably third in that listof great pictures of the generation. They're
both toast, they're both done. It's all right, Like I'm not taking
anything away from the Yankees last nakthe Yankees a ross. The offense is
great, it's one of the bestoffenses of the American League. But when
he look back on that, youdidn't like, I just want to be
clear, like you didn't expect Verlanderto go like a lah mixed martial arts
(04:55):
to just leave his glove on themound last night, like I'm done.
He's gonna piss the rest this year. Yeah, he's not the late now,
the late now Fonte Davis who justquits at halftime like I'm good,
I'm done. I'm actually gonna retireduring the game. No, no,
no, I don't think it's thatmuch. But I would be shocked if
he pitches in twenty twenty five.I told you in twenty seventeen of that
I brother ran in the conversation withyou, me and a guy by the
(05:15):
name of Buster Or I said,Buster, isn't that the end for Verlander?
He's going to the Hall of Fame. He's won the cy Young,
He's won the World Series, He'swon everything else. He's like, gosh,
I can tell you this about JustinVerlander. He eats a goose.
That's right, goose. I cantell you this. He eats sleeps in
breeze baseball. He wants to bein the locker room. He will be
one of these guys who will pitchuntil they tell him get off the field.
(05:39):
Seven years later, get off thefield. Uh yeah, I mean
he's not gonna He's not gonna dothat. Like he's gonna he's gonna finish
the season like that's like, Ijust want to make sure that we all
agree that he's gonna fish the season. Listen, Let's let's be clear.
You probably were right when you triedto call it a career for him earlier.
(06:02):
But as many pitchers found out,if you went to Houston and you
found out what this little thing calledSpider tack. Was it made you greater
than you used to be, oror at least as good as you once
were. Maybe he's always been ahigh caliber ACE pitcher, but all of
(06:25):
a sudden, that immediate resurgence oncehe put on the Astros uniform. Okay,
and listen, I'm a yank, you fan. I know some of
you are out there. I knowyou're looking at your radio right now,
you're looking at your at your phoneon the app. You're going, yeah,
what about Garrett Cole? What whatI'm saying? Garrett Cole had to
adjust to life without it. You'reyou've seen that with the Yankees. That
heck, that might be one ofthe reasons that he's still hurt is that
(06:46):
he's had to adjust to pitching withoutSpider Attack. He's had to do the
whole thing now on his actual abilityto pitch, not that extra grip that
he gets thanks to Spider Tack. That's that's just the way it is,
you know. But it prolonged Verlander'scareer. Now it's gone. I bet
your Spider attack would still involve Surezerand Verlander would still be Aces. I
(07:08):
don't have any disagreement with that, because both those guys showed post first team
like post Diamondbacks. He was withSchureser and Nationals. And by the way,
just weird stat on the go Squeezeanywhere else in the show. The
Nationals won yesterday over the Oels firsttime since July one, twenty twenty one.
They're above five hundred. Sure's there'sa little team. That's a bizarre
(07:29):
stat. But yeah, both thoseguys were good after they probably should have
retired, Like sure Verlander won twocy youngs after twenty seventeen. So yeah,
both that technique kept their careers andgave them nice fat contracts and a
lot more in their bank, especiallyScherzer who has that weird extending contract.
Yeah, it's not technically, itwas glue that they were able to use
(07:51):
on their hands. True. Butand again, like you said, listen,
I'm probably honest with you. IfI was allowed to use that,
I would use it. I stillcouldn't pitch. I'm terrible you two,
but that's you know, neither. You just made me look at the lineup
for the Nationals. Remember when theywere like the are the Nationals the Oklahoma
City Thunder of baseball, where like, at one point in time, you
(08:16):
had Durant Westbrook Harden and then youhad nothing. And like the Nationals,
at one point they had everyone, they had all the great young players and
now they have Patrick Corbyn. Likeis that is? That? Is that
who they are? I never thoughtof that analogy, but there are a
lot of similarities between that. Youknow what they kind of feel like to
(08:39):
do the baseball style of that. They kind of feel like the mid ninety
Mariners. Remember the mid ninety Marinerswhere they had Alex Rodriguez, Ken Gurfy
Junior, Randy Johnson had all thoseguys in the Mariners. I don't think
Tino Martinez is on that. EdgarMartinez Hall of Famer. Edgar Martinez was
on that team, so they hadarguably the great does they interval time?
So I just listened off for Hallof Famers, right, Griffy Junior,
(09:03):
Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, andAlex Rodriguez resume wise Hall of famerbody won't
get in, likely because of hisGENI. But yeah, they had Harper
insures Her and Strasburg and Jason Worthwas really good at one person. Yeah,
yeah, just ran a Kentucky Derbyhorse. He had the one horse
in the Derby Derby. It's it'sa it's a weird, but you know
(09:24):
what, you know that they arethat the the Marlins without the World Series
win. It's like the Marlins whowin the World Series and then they would
just get rid of everybody, rebuild, win the World Series, get rid
of everybody, like the Nationals, just get rid of everybody. Buy Soto
by everybody, like everybody. Yeah, nobody wants to go there. Uh.
The odd part about this now,Levak is that for a long time
he was the biggest red for Theywere the team like now it's Texas Texas.
(09:54):
I mean, who's the Who's theunstoppable force in the American League?
Yeah? Yeah, man, Texes? Really is that? Is that real?
Texts is so weird to me becauseremember they went forever without be able
to win, and then they wona World Series and now it's like,
are we still just forget that They'reone of the biggest choke artists in the
(10:16):
history of pro sports. I getthey had multiple opportunities to win the World
Series and everything else, But ifI can pick anybody, I can't pick
Baltimore. Baltimore got beat Cleveland,Cleveland. Houston stinks Yankees, Yankees?
Who is the Yankees? The Yankees? Are the Yankees the biggest test?
(10:39):
Biggest Yeah, I mean realistically,I mean, let's talk about it,
the Yankees' biggest test. Yeah.Well, no, honestly, right now,
as much as you know there's athere's different ways to talking about it.
It is your Orioles because you're aheadof us or tied. We're tied
right now, but like right now, the team that's the team that because
(11:00):
you also won the series against us, you know, yeah, I guess
it's Orioles. I mean a little. The Guardians don't give me any reason
to feel good about the world. How about the Twins while they lost the
game? No, yeah, thetough part about that is, like,
you can't take Cleveland because Cleveland justhasn't been in that spot before. I
(11:26):
would love for it to be Baltimore. The idea that potentially Baltimore could be
the team that is the biggest opposition, the biggest test for the Yankees would
be great. It would be wonderfulto give that type of compliment to Baltimore.
And maybe when we talk about talentversus talent of who is the best
of the best that remains although Baltimorehasn't taken that next step as a team
(11:48):
or a franchise or anything else, maybe they will be the team. I
think you and I could both agreeon this though. We can both agree
that this team, now the NewYork Yankees that they just faced off against,
which is the Houston Astros, nolonger is a threat like for so
long that dynasty, and I thinkHouston can be talked about as a dynasty.
(12:13):
That dynasty. The biggest wins they'vehad obviously the World Series, but
they took down the Yankees. Theytook down the Yankees and said this is
the team that will be our biggesttest. Multiple times, I guess two
times in the ALCS they bumped aboutthey were better in the series. Now,
was that series been defined as weled the show just moments ago talking
(12:33):
about the series defined by cheating anda cheating scandal and everything else. Yeah,
but when we look back at thehistory books, it's still going to
show Houston taking down New York.So Yankee fan, I guess that is
something to get excited about. Soto be happy about, cheerful about that
the Boogeyman is no longer there. The Houston Astros that have been testing this
(12:56):
team for so long and been thethorn in your side. You can write
them off. You could say it'sno longer about them anymore. It's no
longer about Houston anymore. It's aboutsomebody else and the other part of the
games. Look, we just talkedabout Houston for about ten twelve minutes of
(13:16):
this opening segment to lead off theshow. The Yankees did have to perform
against Verlander. You know, like, I guess this is a cup half
empty, cuff half full way toview this, Like, uh, here
I am trashing Justin Verlander, sayinghe's a bomb, he's past his prime.
Go home with your supermodel wife. You've had a great Hall of Fame
career. It's time to retire andcall it a career. While I'm not
(13:39):
giving credit to the New York Yankeelineup hitting a Hall of famer, taking
down the pitcher who won a WorldSeries two seasons ago, taking down a
picture that was a cy Young Awardwinner six seasons ago. So maybe I'm
being a little too negative about theYankees. I don't think that's the case.
I think that the way we'll rememberthat is far more about the Verlander
(14:01):
performs than anything else. But everybodywas good last night. Like that part
doesn't surprise me. That you haveimpact players and prospects, you're living up
to the hype and everything else that'sinvolved this Yankee team. I guess I'm
not surprised by that. Like ifyou told me, hey, the New
York Yankee offense is gonna be reallygood, the New York Yankee offense is
(14:22):
gonna have success against a pitcher inhis forties, what do you think is
gonna happen. That's not surprising tome. That's what I expected out of
the Yankees. That's what I thoughtthe Yankees were gonna be able to do.
So yeah, it's not so muchme taking away credit from the Yankees
or thinking the Yankees aren't in thespot that they're supposed to be. Is
looking at this roster and be like, that's what the new expectation is.
(14:46):
That's what it's supposed to be whenit comes to the New York Yankees.
So whether it'll be Baltimore, whetherit'll be Cleveland or somebody else, the
test will be on the way.It could become the Blue Jays, it
could be the Rais, it couldbe somebody else, but the the days
of the Houston Astros being the threatout of the American League East. That's
over. That's done, all right. Coming up on the way, we
(15:09):
will find out some more New Yorknews the Rangers really good performance at all
time, great one out of theRangers yesterday, and we'll get some more
Arena Football League news. Social mediais a buzz with that. We still

I was doing. You never know. I get blamed for a lot of

things lately and seem to know lessand less as the days go on.
As I'm sure you'd like to talkabout. Right now, guys, as
I sit here in my presidential officewith nothing on the walls, I get
yelled at for that at least oncea day by somebody here in the building,
MVP Arena. I have to decorate. So maybe maybe you want to
come help me decorate. Point youknow, I'm not the best person to
(21:00):
ask about decorating offices. For fouryears, I think I went with one
poster. It was that interview poster. Seth Rogan and James Franco Frank sat
up there and then intern thank youletters. I don't think we're gonna go
this. Social media is a buzztake us through the biggest news involving football,
(21:22):
or would be better for questions wedid? I guess I feel like
if you ask questions, I'm justresponding and I get a little less trouble.
Okay, there's been yeah, let'sdo this, let's do this.
There's been some scheduled movement can youconfirm that a lot of teams are not
going to play this week because ofbye weeks and Nashville scheduled to play scheduled
(21:48):
I want to call them salina anotheryour Salina. That's the biggest adjustment for
the schedule this week in Minnesota. The Yeah, the Orlando Predators running bye
they're taking a bye week this week. That's one. And yeah, Minnesota.
So for us, the Minnesota thingthat is that is confirmed, that's
guaranteed. UH Minnesota is coming hereto play us on Monday six thirty kickoff.
(22:14):
What we've done is we've opened upthe seats where where you know,
we're doing some sweetheart deals for theseason ticket holders. We we're definitely we're
gonna have a party zone, butit's gonna be, you know, a
little bit more of a laid backparty zone because of the fact that we
were throwing this together so fast. But the the cool part about this one,
like I know, there's like there'squestions around a lot of stuff,
(22:37):
and if I'm being perfectly blunt andhonest, I don't have all the answers
because you know me, guys,I focus on what I can control,
and that's that's us. The coolingon us is we we we're both making
both both Minnesota and Albany are forcedto make some moves because of our our
very successful roommates. So you gotthe Minnesota Timberwolves are on an absolute tear
(23:03):
so that has restricted the building forthe myth, the Target Center. So
now they're coming here. That's that'sone. But again after that, I
know Orlando has a as a byeweek as well, and there is another
schedule change coming up for us.Gods really really would well, actually,
(23:23):
you know, you do need toknow because now that NFL network has talk
tail and run for maybe for goodreason. I don't know, you're on
all the games again. It's it'sit's you and h In in Santillo and
until one of you guys tells meyou can't make it to a game,
and then I abduct you and bringyou here. Anyway, Yeah, so
we we were supposed to be onSaturday the twenty fifth, and this is
(23:48):
good, this is this is breakingnews. Probably I probably don't I'm probably
gonna get in trouble for this, but I don't care. You know,
whatever it is, what it is, maybe they'll suspend me. I'll get
a Day off. We are inthe process of moving our game through Friday
the twenty fourth because of the successof the FireWolves. If they can host
(24:11):
their game on the twenty fifth, they'll be featured on on national television.
So because that's the championship game.So so we are gonna you're in an
official announcement from the FireWolves shortly,an official announcement from us shortly. But
we're gonna move some Memorial Day weekend. We're gonna we're gonna flip flop with
the FireWolves so that they can befocused on and get their flowers. As
(24:34):
the kids say, all right,so let me understand that. Let me
this is breaking news that is happeningright now. If you're right now,
Sean Martin, Michael Kelly, Mark, the local writers, James and Kowski,
whoever might be so all Manwolves seeseventeen. They have his second game
(24:55):
on the nineteenth. If Buffalo wins, they can cringe the llott in Buffalo.
If that doesn't happen, if theymove to a game by the way,
the way, by the way,I want to I don't like something
you just said. If the FireWolveswhen the first two they can clutch a
Buffalo as well. That's exactly right, thank you. Yeah, okay,
all right, just be fair tomy roommates here. Come on now,
Jackson, now, go on,Jackson, Mr can yell at me about
(25:18):
that? Yelling me about that borderlineborder line love there, the game three
three happens, it will be,it will be now moved to Saturday.
Right now, you're telling me thatthat means Firebirds, fire Wolves and fire
Wolves. Correct, that's and againit's Chris Breck of the the president of
(25:41):
the FireWolves, reached out yesterday. He's like, listen, I hate to
even ask, but we have anopportunity to do something very special. Would
you be willing? And uh,you know, we got together the the
powers that be for the Firebirds, and you know, we're very, very
very thrilled about how good the Wolvesare. So the Birds are gonna support
the Wolves and do a little littleOakie Dook switch. Originally we were gonna
(26:03):
move to Sunday, but it's moreof a weekend. We figured the best
chance we have of more people beingaround and be able to enjoy the game
would be Friday night, the twentyfourth. Okay, that's breaking news.
It's huge breaks, it's huge.Yeah, I thought, So I like
it, and I like I likeit too because it's one of those like
if you look at what's going onin Minnesota, people you know, listen,
(26:25):
I've I find it intriguing and funnythat as I look on all the
social media to chat groups and thereddit's and the all of them, if
the AFL has so many stub atoe, it's this is never gonna work.
How dare they? Oh my god, so stupid. Whatever. My
(26:47):
former league just lost a team, and nobody's like, oh, it's probably
a good decision. It's like,hold on, hold on. There's a
lot of moving parts at this level. If it's gonna be terrible for one,
make it terrible for all, orat least you know, no,
no that know that it's it's realbefore you go and condemn everything. But
you know, there's there's definitely alot of there's a lot of change right
(27:10):
now at the a f L.There's a lot of change at the i
f L, the n a L. It's just it is level of sports
that happens. So again, II just I like that the reason Minnesota
is forced to make a schedule changeand the reason Albany is willing to make
a schedule change is because our communitieshave another team going for championships and and
(27:32):
we're doing what we can to workwith the the other teams in our community
to get more champions Like I wanta trophy case in this place, you
know what I mean? Like Iwant, oh man, I should ask
the firewalls for a jersey in exchange. I'll talk to Chris. But it's
it's it's the good. There's goodthings happening in this league as well.
So let me confirm this. Youtalk about the n L League that the
(27:56):
Empires are gone goals and the teamyou just referenced there is the Flying Flying
I don't really I didn't know thename of the team. I just saw
the press release. I believe thatis the case. So if they're gone,
it doesn't affect anything in the area. But we have seen affected by
(28:18):
schedule changes, I think in thePhiladelphia Soul. But that's anything that canna
affect all. But let me letme respras. There are rumors floating around
about the future of those franchise forthose franchise, those franchise correct, correct,
And I've also heard a rumor thatwe may be playing in Orlando at
(28:45):
some point late in the season.I I have no I have nothing to
back that up right now. Ido love Orlando, you know, I
love Orlando. Uh, but it'slike we're all working together, like like
the the thing that I find themost intriguing about this is every time something
negative happened in the AFL, everybodygoes crazy. But the fact that we've
(29:06):
got multiple teams working together to getthrough this rough patch, doing whatever it
takes to support each other, that'sbeing left out that, like my favorite
guy's the biggest, the closest thingto comment I've seen come out about this
league is oh, how crazy isthis? If it wasn't for Albany,
(29:26):
Orlando, Nashville, this would bea problem. And it's like, you
know, we're here, We wehere, that's what like like that's why,
you know, and as as PatrickWilms is saying, and here like
it's there's a reason those three teams, these three teams chose to go to
the FL and we're gonna do everythingwe can to help it. It's it's
definitely a little crazy right now.I'm not gonna sit here and pretend it's
(29:49):
not crazy. And I don't Ihaven't communicated with the front office in a
while. Mike has been handling thatfor the most part. I know Andy
Gelcher and Richie says that they wereand Mike Core they were all on a
call with the league yesterday because wemade a decision that my goal, my
focus is going to be the twentyfour guys on our roster, are coaching
(30:10):
is at our front office, ourrelationship with the MVP, arena and everything
right here. So I'm focused onthis. So those guys were handling that.
But I know, like I've seenMike help that old league survive,
and I think if they listen toMike, they're gonna we'll be We'll be
fine. On a lot of stuffat this level. Now may too much.
You've left too much over the playthat I must follow up. Follow
(30:32):
up. So you said Mike andwere on the call yesterday and Richard and
rich rich rich I don't know youwas also sometimes I apologize for not always
including the big three there there bycall with the league league who was on
the call that I think it wasall the owners all the owners, So
we don't know if he was onthe call or travel games games. Uh
(30:56):
I I I do not know.No, I don't know. I would
because he last allegedly allegedly Yes,I know. I I believe he was
on but I again, I wasn't. I wasn't on the call. So
but but it's it's right now,Like I said, it's I think the
(31:18):
the most honest thing I could tellyou at this moment in time is there
are there are teams who have resources, who have partnerships and sponsorships in place,
and are prepared, you know, and and even when you're prepared at
this level, you can you getcurveballs. They happen, interceptions if you
(31:40):
will. And then I think there'steams that I thought they were ready to
swim in these deep waters, andI don't think they they are. I
think they need to either bring onnew partners, new sponsorships, new things
to to make them, you know, equal to the task ahead. Or
and maybe they do need to,you know, go compete in a in
(32:06):
a slightly lower league for a littlewhile longer, build themselves up and and
then come back. But I Iwould, I think there's there's definitely like
people I've been called a liar becauseI'm still supporting the league. It's like,
no I'm not Why would I Whywould I not support the league that's
trying to pay players more, thatactually plays arena football and and does the
(32:28):
things that I want to see aleague do, Like, I want this
lead to be successful, but Ialso know that no matter what happens,
I'm I I want the Lead tobe successful. I need the Firebirds to
be successful. I don't know thisfor a fact. People, I'm guessing
that the people who called people whohave like two hundred followers on Twitter who
(32:51):
want to be journalists and are offon that off on that guys, mean
one second, yes, yes,uh. Levec, by the way,
was not was not avoiding my question. By the way, he actually had
somebody walk into his office. Idon't know if he was being told all
(33:13):
right, he actually did not avoidMike. I'm sorry, Redhead. That's
okay, No, there was Ijust something going out of my office I'm
gonna have to attend to in theseconds. Nothing big people was involving the
internet, you paused perfectly. Yeah. Well, and and that's and the
weird part is like, like someof the people are people that I've I've
had extremely friendly conversations with about arenafootball and it's and because I don't like
(33:38):
they want me to sit here andsay I don't believe in this person or
I don't like that person, orand I'm not going to say something I
don't mean, you know, likelike you know, listen, this show
is a year old, and thefirst what two months of this show was
me telling in no uncertain terms, the truth about the ownership here that that
(34:00):
had taken over in Albity, thethe problem that I had with the commissioner
of the old League because the thingshe let happen, like things he said,
and I set him in front andand I'll say him now if I
have to, like but to becalled a liar because you want me to
condemn things that I don't believe Ineed to be condemned at this time,
I just I'm not gonna do that. I'm just not like I want this
(34:21):
lead to be successful. Is thisis this league running into some things?
Yes? It is? Is ita brand new just started and things are
and it feels like everybody's out toget it. Are the people that I
know who have a chance to makethis right the kind of people that you
tell them they can't or you pushagainst them they're gonna push back twice this
hard. Yes they are. Soit's gonna be It's gonna be fun.
(34:44):
But like I said, don't theto be called a liar for just not
wanting to overreact or or go onthings that I don't have one hundred percent
proof of which I kind of botheredme. And that's the first time I
brought it up. Monday, youand I will be the Firebird game is
the Minnesota Yeah, so what webroadcasting, that's it's you know, it's
(35:10):
weird doing these seconds and frustrating foryou, but it's good to know the
controversy and the weird storylines were basedin the capital region. I know.
The isn't that cool? Yeah,I mean think about that this time last
year we we were the problem, not us as the area, but like
people saw Albany as the problem. Now allbody's a solution. So like that's
(35:31):
the one thing. I'm just kindaI'm kind of reveling in that, Like
that's that's that's the one thing atthe at the basement all Like when we
do flock you later tonight over atthe war room, I'm gonna look over
at them and wear and be likethat's a dude who doesn't right. I'm
gonna look over at Dwayne Hawks. That's a dude who doesn't. Right.
I'm going to see myself in thecomputer and go, I gotta got that,
(35:52):
all right. I'm glad, I'mI'm glad that's going on. Let's
do that. Let's do this. You want to talk a little mass talking
about Rangers and more Rangers, moredude. I want to say, like
I do something to happen with theMats that I just I can't. I
can't shake. I keep seeing itover and over in my head. I
almost feel like it's a it's aproblem that needs to be fixed at like
a little league level. And I'dlove to talk about that next coming up.
(36:15):
That's okay with you, guys.Let's do it. Let's do it.

But uh, I I don't Uh, I don't know why it wouldn't work.
But that's all right. Well, because we did this earlier, we
were fine. So I get Iget you know, I get that.
(39:59):
You know, I like, Ienjoy I enjoy talking to you from time
to time. It's rare, butit happens, all right. Did you
see the JD. Martinez at batthat where he actually like swings and breaks
a dude the catcher's arm. There'sa lot of issues I want. Well,
(40:23):
my thing is, I can't believeit doesn't that more often. I've
been watching, like I watch kidsplay, I watch what everything I see
that the catchers are in the attemptto frame a strike. They're getting farther
and farther and farther up. NowJD. Martinez sits back in the box,
but he's in the box so likeI think his backfoot actually does pop
(40:43):
a little out when he's when he'sswinging. But when he he he breaks
Wilson Contreras's arm because he swings sohard and Wilson Contraras is leaned all the
way forward with the glove up insidethe box where the batting. The batter's
boxes are so like my own thingis back up like just a hair just
enough and you won't lose your arm. And just to confirm I know what
(41:07):
you meant there, correct, yes, yeah, yeah, yes, yeah,
sorry, yeah, Wilsons the catcheris all the way up, he's
trying to frame the strike for theCardinals his glove and is he gets hit
in the arm with a bat andit breaks his arm. Here's the thing
seeing this picture in video and watchingit and see the internet react everything that
(41:30):
happened in that game yesterday. Yes, I get it that hitters are going
to step back in the box andthat is going to be the way they
set up going forward. That's alwaysgoing to be the way that it happens.
That is their right to set uplike that. If they want to
be all the way back in thebox, great they can do that.
That is exactly right. Like yousaid, it's on the catcher. It's
(41:52):
on the catcher setting up like that. Everybody's trying to find a different advantage
down in the game. Now.You could hear people saying the velocity is
changing, so that's the reason whyhe's so far back. He wants that
extra fraction of a second to havethat advantage the catcher wants to do.
It's on the catcher. Now,look, I don't know if fail,
like you intentionally broke your arm, that's all you. It's not that simple.
(42:15):
Like this is a trend that's goingon in baseball. I get nervous
because, you know, the wayI viewed sports is a little bit different
now with two young boys. ButI'm like, okay, I know a
lot of the things that young athletes, whether they're three years old, a
lot younger, but like seven toten to twelve, they watch all this
stuff. So like there's probably akid who's a Matt fan or a Cardinal
fan. It's like Okay, Trere'sis doing it like this. I want
(42:36):
to do like this. Oh JD. Martinez, it's like this, I'm
gonna hit like this, my fars. There's gonna be some kind at like
Colony Little League or burn Hill's BostonLake that sticks his hand out like that
he gets blested, or some kids'sgonna be like JD. Martinez say's way
back in the box. Like ifthe professionals understand what they're getting at and
they know like this batter box area, I can stand wherever I want.
(43:00):
I have the right to stand here, and Contres knows there's a threat there.
This is analytics at work and advantagesthat work. But I'm all team
hitter on this one. I don'teven know what the argument would be for
the catcher to say this is noton him in this play. Yeah,
I mean, I'm I'm I'm withyou, and I'm like the fact that
(43:22):
you talk about the kids. That'swhere it gets to me because I've seen
this like this is this is theway they're being taught is because again they're
trying to get as far up aspossible so they can frame that strike.
It's all about trying to frame thestrike. I got an idea throw a
strike, you know what I mean, and then the catcher will keep his
arm like I just it really,it really, it really resonated with me
(43:46):
because it's just first of all,you see the pain I mean, and
that just that just looks terrible andthat's a no win. Like there's there's
nobody Jamie Martinez didn't go, hey, you know, got got a good
rip on that one. No,everybody is upsetting that one, and it
probably changes the way you approach itat that when you when you have you
(44:07):
know, contraras or somebody behind youwho sets up the same way. It's
it bothered me and again I seethe kids do it, and it's only
a matter of time before the kids, uh get there because it's it's gonna
happen like you're gonna see it happenedagain and again because they're just so close
(44:28):
up. What place scared you morelast night? I'm not sure if you
saw both these, but what playscared you more last night? The Contreri's
situation at the plate with JD.Martinez, or to borrow from the Rangers
doing that missile flying headbutt at theboard, trying to take the head off
(44:49):
of the Rangers. Fact, thankgod he missed, like that would have
been a stretcher situation in that Ranger'shurricane. That play was the scariest of
the night. And that's an involvinga guy whose arm got broken by a
baseball swing, right, I mean, I mean in all in, dude,
like it looked like it looked likesomething Ray Mysterio would do. Yes,
(45:12):
it was like, I mean,on one hand, I was my
I gotta be I gotta be realwith you. My initial reaction was,
how the hell did you get upthere like from ice, like like like
I've seen figure skaters do it.I don't think I've ever seen a hockey
player do it. Like he lookedlike a superhero. And then I'm like,
holy crap, he's trying to killhim like that. That's insane.
And I'm like you said, I'mso glad he missed the fact that that
(45:36):
play happens that he misses and theyou have to watch the video like six
or seven times and see it thescariest part of that video. Of course,
you would think him hitting him wouldhave been the scariest, but watched
the end of it. His skatesare coming down on the back of his
head. So the sharp skates arecoming down on the back of a dude's
neck. Now, look, thesharp part of the skate is not slicing
(45:59):
the back of his neck, butit was heading in that direction. This
is one of the rare moments insports. And I don't know what the
NHL is going to do because hockeyrides itself on toughness and hard hitting and
tough guy and losing a tooth anda finger getting back out there. I
can't think of a moment in sportswhere somebody missed a hit and got suspended.
(46:22):
Like, you know, we alwaystalk about intent, like that intent
wasn't there. He didn't want tobe dirty. This is intent, even
though contacts not made above the head, even though a stretcher's not out on
the ice to figure out what happened. The intent was to take this dude
out. Now, the Rangers butan absolute classic. We talked about Madison
Square Garden Rocket, a double low, overtime three. I feel bad for
(46:45):
Ranger rains, not because they're upto Ozho, not because of the game,
but because the national media, thenon New York sports fan this is
the headline for the game. Oneof the nastiest hits you're gonna see in
sports. This dude tried going forit and you got Rent on the Rangers
like Rempy's supposed to be the goodand that's the story. I hope he
(47:05):
does get suspended even though the hitdoesn't happen. We all know what the
intent was in that play. Yeah, oh, and there's no you know,
I'd love to Yeah, I'd loveto defend Truman because again, you
know the laundry of it, butthere's not I have nothing, Like how
do I I have? No,I I can't. I can't defend it.
(47:28):
It looked, it looked terribly.Yeah, bad optics. We haven't
had to say that one in awhile. Bad optics for sure. But
I'm trying to think, like I'mtrying to think of other like attempts like
that that we've seen, like becauseagain it goes it goes to poor sportsmanship,
like the J. D. Martinezan accident. That's an accident.
It's terrible. Cadres breaks his arm, it's gotta get moved back. It's
(47:51):
it can't. It's an avoidable accident. This was like, dude, I'm
gonna go Superman on your butt. It's probably a good thing that you and
I can't remember off the top ofour heads of bad incidents in sports where
a dirty play could have happened. If there was something that was closer,
that's probably a good thing because wewashed it away from our memories. Quicker
(48:13):
usually just remember the plays that actuallyresult in really awful injuries or dirty plays
and everything like that. So it'sprobably better. If anything, it's probably
like punches, you know, LikeI'm trying to think of like a big
time punch in a brawl that justmisses, But if that punch connected,
it would have been different. Gosh, I feel like there was an NBA
brawl that that happened in It mighthave been the Pacers and Pistons in the
(48:37):
brawl at Auburn Hills there. Butno, it's probably a better thing that
you and I can't remember dirtier playsthat could have resulted in that. But
for the Rangers, here's the otherwild part about this, lovack like Yusually
when we talk about the Rangers, when we do talk about hockey, he's
not the name you mentioned. Ifyou went through like stats at you know,
we talked about war for baseball,he's probably the worst player on the
(49:00):
team, Like, that's the whyyou know, we're not talking about like
Ron Our test fighting fans, JermaineO'Neill. We're not talking about Sidney Crosby
Vet. This is probably the worstplayer on the Rangers. So if he
did get suspended and be like, yeah, they'll be fine, They'll they'll
be okay, they will recover withouthim. This is actually the first time
(49:21):
we've ever mentioned him on the show. You know what it is? I
mean, at least at least thatI know of. I mean, who
knows. Maybe maybe somebody has,uh has said something about him, like
when we were talking to a hockeyperson like Puck Daddy or somebody like that.
But no, I just I'm that'sdon't don't know, you don't know
you but uh But also we're notagain as you as you've kind of alluded
(49:44):
to, We're also not the world'sbiggest hockey fans. We could be better,
we could be a little better. And if the Rangers win, I
will act like I, uh likeone hundred percent and the world's biggest hockey
fan. It'll be bad, guys, I can I can promise you that.
But but as of this moment,I I'm going with it. I
just I might I might sound alittle distracted, And I know we normally
(50:05):
do these kind of things in thein the in the dump at the end
of the show, but I amI'm realizing how little I actually watch regular
television nowadays, because I had neverseen Gracie Cashman before. Are you familiar
with Gracie Cashman? Gracey Cashman,I don't think I do know who that
(50:31):
is. She is the daughter ofBrian Cashman, general manager of the New
York Yankees, and she now hostsa show on the Yes Network called The
Story Behind My Number. And nowthere's a big heated debate. Is she
only on there because of nepotism ordoes she actually deserve me on there?
(50:54):
And she's very attractive, so Ithink she deserves me. On the fact
that Brian Cashman has such an attractivedaughter as brightening his wife must be stunning.
Uh, let me let me addressthat question. Is she on there
because of nepotism or is she onthere because she deserves to be the host
of that? Can't they answer tobe both? Can't the answer be like
(51:16):
no, no, it probably is. She's a singer, actress, all
this other stuff. But like yes, I'm sorry, go on, you're
yeah, Like I'm trying to thinkof fields that nepotism plays the biggest factor
in. I would assume Hollywood, right, like actors and directors. There's
now the articles that I don't knowwhy this came out during COVID or post
(51:37):
COVID, where it's like everyone allof a sudden on the Internet just realized
that, where I feel like olderpeople are like, yeah, like what
do you mean? We all knewthat's how Hollywood was. It was all
the actors and daughters of somebody elseor rich people just having an opportunity.
I feel like an older group ofAmericans always understood that. So if acting
in Hollywood, which I know wasa broader brush there with just acting in
(52:00):
general's one, politics I guess wouldbe two, like holding government offices,
but it's not really nepotism because youhave to be voted into those positions,
so that one's a little harder becauseof the voting aspect of politics. I
think media would be second. Right, Like what else we're not talking like
lords and hierarchies, I should say, like oldiarchies, royalty, You guys
(52:23):
don't getting with here? With countrieslike thatch. Yes, yes, yes,
that's it's not a job per se. So media would probably be second,
Like we could probably rip off fifty. We won't do that because we're
getting close to the second part ofthe show here. Our number two Media
is probably it. So yes,she can be beautiful, she can have
a dad who has a connection. She can be talented on camera. She
(52:45):
could be one and got the jobbecause her dad's broadcashment and she could be
really good on TV. Like there'snothing wrong with that. Like it's really
hard to get a foot the doorto job in media. And if you've
got a connection and you're good oncamera, good for you, Like you
had the connection. I agree,I agree. Like I worked for uh.
(53:07):
I worked for Bob Oschfeld. Hewas he go ahead, the Hall
of Famer, the legend there itis. I knew it was coming.
And one of his well, oneof his sons worked for us. The
other one kind of like we're like, worked you know, in a very
similar field, and they would pickon his son Brian all the time.
There was they would take one ofthose UH. It was a frame picture
(53:28):
and it said nepotism. We believein promoting family values almost as much as
we believe in promoting family like itwas. And we leave that like Joe
because it was a joke. Butthe bottom line is a dude did his
job, you know. I mean, he got his foot in the door
because his dad, but he actuallyfelt like and and really probably did have
to work harder than other people tovalidate and justify the job. So she
(53:50):
might get her foot in the doorbecause of dad, and maybe more Yankees
are comfortable talking to her because ofDad. But if she's gonna keep that
job, she's got to prove itby kicking out and taking names. So,
like I'm with you, it's it'sactually both. And I say that
as somebody who is a president ofany arena football team. That one of
(54:12):
the owners he's known since kindergarten, and the other is is one of his
close friends who has made sure he'salways advertised vehicles for him for a very
long time. That's very that's exactlyvery good, Locky, You've addressed that
elephant in the room of Yes,you know what, you call me an
elephant just because I put on somelpis pro wrestling pro wrestlings in that mix
(54:32):
too. Somewhere Charlotte Flair, RandyOrton, all the big name that the
Roman reigns, all that athletics andstuff like that. Don't we push it
for it? I think I thinkwe as a public push for it too.
Like like I remember the first timeI saw Rick Flair's kids on TV.
I'm like that one could wrestle thatone couldn't that one? You know
what I mean? Like like wewant to see that like you like like
(54:52):
you want Holiday to be a goodplayer for the Orioles because his dad was
a good player, even though he'snot. We have the second hour of
the show coming up. All right, I'm not here. Let's talk about
Lillian David Fine Jeeliers. All right, Lillian David Fine Jewelers can help you
find exactly what she's looking for.Guys. Whatever that thing is, whether
(55:12):
it's that earring, that that necklace, that certain thing that fits her style,
her fashion and more, Lillian DavidFine Jewelers can help you find it
for her. And Mother's Day isless than a week away. What are
you doing for mom on Mother's Day? Flowers? Okay, maybe she's gotten
that before. Maybe a nice card. How about you get her something she's
looking forward to maybe she wants toadd and that pair of earrings, that
(55:34):
necklace, maybe that upgrade to thering is something that she's gonna show to
her friends, her family and more. And you're gonna say, you know
what, I help the mom findthat. Lillian David Fine Jelers can do
that for you again, Lillian DavidFine Jueliers. You can find them at
the shops of Wilton. And whenyou stop in telling me you heard about
my story, Goss's story from FoxSports ninety five, nine and nine,
what do you don't you have astory to tell? What are you gonna
(55:54):
tell your story? I think I'mgonna wait till next week. I was
told I have to wait till nextweek about that story. Okay, all
right, so really random auties.Sometime next week, dozes Man have a
very cool story to tell that mayor may not revolve slightly around Lily and
David Fine Jewels. Coming up next, we get your top four four brought
(56:15):
by Mohawk Kanda right here on FoxSports Radio ninety five nine and nine eighty.
Well, you're looking at a goodride up and down the north Way
