(00:00):
It's Lovak and Gaze on the voiceof the Capitol Regions Sports fan Fox Sports
ninety five, nine and nine eight. Uh huh eh, what I really
want to you gonna be my girl. Maybe it's because the video games coming,
the college football video game that I'mI'm very in tune to college football
(00:21):
news. Ooh, I like mesay that Lovak I think gets me all
worked up. I would like totalk about baseball. I I know it's
the the nil world, and it'sI probably shouldn't even notice this kind of
stuff anymore. But have you seenTravis Hunter's new ride, his whip,
the player that I would consider thenumber one player in college football this season,
(00:44):
the best player in the country.I have not seen his new vehicle.
According to TMZ Sports, his fianceLeanna bought him a Dodge Ram TRD
tricked out for his twenty first birthday, but fiance bought it. Yeah,
(01:08):
so this is what this This iswhere it gets confusing to me, Like,
obviously traps Hunter's getting paid right likehe's gonna get and rightfully so a
couple million this year. Two wayplayer. You know, all this stuff
could be the number one picking thedraft in twenty twenty five is a non
quarterback. That's how good he is. So this vehicle so like when somebody
else buys it for him, it'slike, wait, what does your fiance
(01:30):
do? Like, I don't know, maybe she does something. It just
says Leanna. So she bought thetruck, took it to DreamWorks Motorsports where
they decked it out. It's gottwenty four inch wheels, it's wrapped,
it's got thirty five inch tires, led accent lighting both inside and outside.
(01:53):
It's got step sides, it's gotit's a one of one, they said.
It's got his personal logo embroidered inthe headrest. The ram TRX sorry
TRX TRD is Toyota. The RAMTRXabout one hundred thousand dollars as is so
(02:13):
with it. This is this isprobably one hundred and fifty to two hundred
thousand dollars pickup that his fiance allegedlybought for him. Here are the two
scenarios they hope that fiance does.Let's go with scenario number one that the
fiance somehow through all this is thedaughter or niece of exhibit from Pitt My
Ride. I hope people still getthat reference somehow that there's a relationship to
(02:35):
that show. That would be hopenumber one. Or to make this the
most twenty twenty four story possible, hope number two is that she made that
money being an Instagram model. Imean it's possible. Both are possible,
maybe more so two than one.I think she's just spent his money,
right, No, you don't thinkit's a Otani situation, do you.
(02:57):
What's what I'm saying, Like Imight go if it wasn't for the I'm
betting she's like, un attended.I really want to I really want to
buy you a present, but it'sexpensive. Oh how much is two hundred
thousand dollars? What for me?Yeah? How much do you have?
Three hundred and twenty two dollars? All right, I'll give you the rest.
I do want a cool present.Buys the truck or he's been talking
(03:22):
about wanted the truck forever. She'slike, well, I'll just buy it
for you with my half of ourmoney or whatever. You know. It
is like it just it doesn't feellike it's It feels very unlikely that she
also has a bunch of money lateron. It's just I mean, I
if this was if this wasn't niltimes, I would be convinced it was
his money. You know what,We're down a spot now. College football
(03:45):
has entered a world of what willwe actually believe? What will we believe?
Because the NCAA football video game youjust mentioned it, you know me,
I've called it the Great Pumpkin.I won't believe it till I'm playing
that thing. So I'm like,I see the videos now, but I
really want to see the game happened. You just told me that Travis Hunter,
a College football players, admitted thathe has this vehicle. On this
same day that Eric Dickerson admitted thelegendary story of where he got his vehicle
(04:11):
from forty five years ago. Hefinally admitted, Yes, Texas A and
M gave me that car. Youwent to SMU though, Yeah, but
I kept the car On the sameday that happened. Would you believe that
Levac have you? You mean BostonDan were texting about this after the show
yesterday? Would you believe that theFox Big Fox Friday night football schedules out,
(04:31):
so now there's a Friday night gameevery night on Fox. They made
that a package. We know Nbcasonwas this week's game between the Firebirds and
the Desert Hawks. All I'm upsee what they're doing. There's a game
on there, Levac. That's USCversus Rutgers. Believe the dates October twenty
fourth or twenty fifth, excuse me, twenty five USC versus Rutgers. That's
(04:55):
an eleven o'clock Eastern kickoff at night. The games in LA to an eleven
o'clock kickoff on the East Coast ona Friday night involved an East Coast team.
Can we please get a Hooters watchparty for that game, Levac?
And I will do with two thirty'sone o'clock in Hooter's gonna look like in
a Friday in October. The WorldSeries could be that same weekend too.
(05:17):
Can't stay that, I cannot Thebaby could be coming that weekend, though
I gotta be careful. That's atthe thirty seven week mark. Be careful
that that week So would you believethat or Levac? I'm gonna go to
one more segment. How what ifI told you that all the athletes and
I hinted at this back in MohawkKanda earlier this week. I hinted at
(05:38):
his lawsuit that was on the waythat the back pay of all the athletes
who have had their NIL used beforeand have enjoyed one lawsuit that was settled
today for two point seven billion dollars. What there's articles out today that the
Big three conferences, the Big twelve, the ACC, and the SEC have
agreed to the settlement and they shouldbe a big ten at Big twelve in
(05:59):
ACC have joined forces on this settlement. The SEC and PAC twelve are likely
to finish off their part later on. I'm the PAC twelves didn't gonna do
it when they don't exist anymore. So here's how that works. Hey,
all thirty plus conferences in college sportsright now, everybody owes everybody money because
we're not going to win the case. So some people have it as pocket
(06:20):
change because they're all going to getchopped up here. So thirty million easy.
Weren't we going to pay Travis Hunterthat anyways to transfer to Bama?
We got that covered other conferences.I've read articles that have said, let's
use the America East, right, let's use the MAC both max as much
as ten percent of their annual salary, and their athletic department's gonna get slash
(06:40):
it because they also have to paythe fines. What a bizarre world we're
living in here in college sports rightnow. It's kind of cool that it's
finally happened, Like, but itis it? I mean, it's weird.
Like I'm shocked there wasn't some kindof deal made when when they agreed
denil and everything else, Like, hey, it starts now today, Today's
(07:03):
when it starts. Everything else hasbeen grandfathered into being legal. Everything's fine.
So to the NCAA lawyers I've read, they're like, you know,
we probably should have done this alittle better. What do you mean done
anything literally anything? You guys haddecades to figure that out. What do
you mean the players want to getpaid? What do you mean We're citing
(07:23):
billion dollar TV contracts and the athletesare asking for a part of the pie.
Nah, well we'll be good.Well, no, you weren't.
In our defense, guys, inour defense, as the attorneys in the
power that be for the NCUBA,we were busy spending all those kids' money.
So and that takes a lot oftime. Like I don't know if
you know, but we sotol alot of Reggie Bush jerseys. We thought
(07:45):
the kids didn't have internet what doyou mean they could look up our TV
contract and say, hey, Idon't like we should get some of that
too. Have you been to Barbados? Like? I mean have you been
like? And but when I sayhave you been to Barbados? I mean
have you gone with unlimited funds thatyou didn't earn? Amazing? Best timular
having your life? That's time you'reI went on a cruise where the boat
(08:07):
and the water were made of moneythat we stole from college kids. It
was amazing. It was the bestthing, the best thing ever. Where's
Charlie Vulgar? Charlie is listening rightnow. I'm just joking around with Charlie
right now. But like college administratorswho retired when they might have seen this
thing coming, Oh that sucks, dude. See, I'm not saying Charlie
(08:28):
did that, but people like CharlieCharlie. No, I'm not blaming.
I'm just saying, like people whowere like in their mid fifties or sixties
or whatever mayd be, like theymight have seen this coming and been like,
Yo, that's not good. I'mout of here. Piece. Charlie
didn't do that. Charlie his timeand left. If you think about it
on a shallow level, not asa shallow person, but on a shallow
(08:50):
level. We paid those kids fourhundred thousand dollars a year or one hundred
thousand dollars year tuition, a certainamount of food, room and board.
We paid them. There's there's somethingto that. It does exist because hell,
you're still paying student loans. Yourwife's paying student loans. This one's
paying that one's paying student loans.I'm not paying student loans. But that's
(09:11):
because we put everything in my mother'sname when she passed away. So did
my loans. But that's that's down. But you know, if you're not
an athlete, Jeff Free, I'mbad. Yeah, you made money,
Jeff, and then you know whatever, there's a there is a book my
mother had. No she literally likeone of those marble composite notebooks. Everybody
what everybody owed her. Oh,and like the it wasn't a joke,
(09:35):
it was it was an air quotejoke that if she passed away, you
put all the assets together, youdivide them equally, and then you subtract
what each person owed her at whoeverowed the least, I got to keep
everything. Ash. Mom wasn't playingno she wasn't no, no, no,
no, no, she will, but they think about it though.
(09:56):
That's why I strive very diligently tostay out of debt, because I've always
known what it was. At somepoint over the next few months. There's
a lot to this. Again, college football and college athletics changing so much,
like now the other big rule.I mentioned this about lampin the Big
Rehoot for Syracuse. He signed forSyracuse and now there's rumors he's gonna leave
because someone already offered him more money. Doug Gottliebs about the coach Green Bay
(10:18):
basketball and the recruiting cycle was basicallyover. I think they're gonna start practice
for most teams in like the nextfew weeks. He just took over the
team this week. There's so muchchanging in college athletics. Let's do this,
levac at some point, you're gonnago on summer vacation. Here,
You're gonna have some time off.I've just booked my My summer vacation is
booked August eleventh to seventeenth, takingthe kids to Disney, and then I
(10:41):
just booked my winter vacation in January. Look at that, it's an eight
day cruise. I'm gonna take sometime off in late July unacceptable first week
of July, and then the babywill come in November. And one point
we'll have closer who works in collegeathletics, Brian Mariano. But maybe our
guy Charlie Volker will stop in forlike a whole show once his leg heels
up, and we'll talk a wholehour about college athletics. Maybe it'll be
(11:03):
a podcast exclusive. The last timeRex was born, Charlie did fill in
during that time Rex was born onceCharlie field last time was born. Yeah,
the last time. How should Iphrase that? When Rex was born
that last time, Charlie filled in. Check the transcript of the show.
(11:24):
When Rex was born, Charlie filledin the end. So maybe when baby
number three is born, we'll dothe same thing and we'll talk about this
because they're so I actually this isgonna sound awful. But I don't think
I'm in the minority on this.Have we hit a point we don't understand
college athletics and how it works anymore? Like I'm struggling with stories like today
it'd be like, oh, that'sthe rule, Well, sort of what
do you mean? Sort of well, it kind of changes. What do
(11:46):
you mean it changes? It feelslike college football in college sports is changing
every single day on what Bason isnot allowed. This settlement's supposed to get
some type of rules. I'm skeptical. I am of that's gonna happen.
Yeah, I I never really understoodit, so I don't have to say
I've stopped. This makes more senseto me than before, because you do.
(12:09):
You know, Hey, if I'vegot if I bring a value to
you and you want to compensate mefor it, rock and roll, let's
go. That's just kind of coolstuff. Uh, don't forget. Actually,
ooh, July very busy. Thatis when the NCAA game comes out.
I got it very I think misterEdwards and the rest of the Wolverines
back to the National championship. Guys, I was very busy. I wish
(12:33):
you luck with the child and theshow. Yeah, what is July going
to look like? I'm gonna takesome time off vacit be playing video games.
Don't forget too, there's a chancethat the championship game for the AFL
could be in like Atlantic City Broadcastinglive. There we go, I get
we I thought you were out withthe kids. What do you mean July.
(12:54):
Oh, I'd be like mid July, probably the kids coming in November.
Oh, I thought, what yousay, you're taking time off in
July four my family? You knowI can take time off. Please.
No, it's not loud go onvacation. No, No, you're stupid.
That's not gonna happen. That's notfull time. I'm not feeling in
for junk. I'm out well. Also in July, I remember that's when
(13:15):
I proposed to my wife seven yearsago. Lillian David Fine Jewelers will help
you for that proposal, pop thequestion, pop the ring, and then
get that planning going for that weddingmarried in June the following year. Lillian
David Fine Julius can help you asyou go through that process too, finding
that wedding band, saving, gettingready, maybe getting some advice. Trust
me, David's heard all the storiesbefore. Alyssa's heard a ton of stories
(13:37):
from couples across the Capital region.More how you could continue to make that
love go for years and decades andplus more to come, Lilian David find
Jewler's will help you with that. But maybe you're not ready quite yet for
the proposal, find that wonderful paraverans, find a necklace, find something that
fits her style, her fashion, and more, and the staff there will
help you do it. Family ownedand operated business Lilian David Fine Juliers.
(14:00):
They will be ready for July.Whether it's the new video game, whether
it's both of us taking time off, whether hopefully we'll be back at Sarah
Toga on Friday shows and more,We'll be ready for it. Hope be
back at Rivers. We've got alot of cool stuff potentially all coming back
this summer. Lelan David Fine Juelersthe chop so will and me stop in
telling me heard about my story Gozastory from Fox Sports ninety five nine to
ninety I'm not done with the footballtalk yet. You know, I just
(14:22):
got a lot of questions I didn'treally get answered out the NCAA. I
have some questions for you one,President Levac, I feel like I haven't
done a presidential address with you whileimpeach. It's been about two weeks since
the controversy of the Arena Football Leaguehas been cooled down. A bit bunch
dot dot dot question Mark put thaton the transcript of the show. I've
(14:45):
got some questions, maybe behind thescenes stuff, maybe it's not as good
as it seems. Get ready,Big Jay Journalists is coming at you next
every Fox Sports Radio ninety nine eighty. I'm so nervous. It's Lavak and
Guz on ninety nine Fox Sports RadioLive in the studio, getting ready.
(15:05):
We got the big show tomorrow livefrom the MVP Arena as the Albany Firebirds,
the undefeated four and out future championsof the Arena Football League Albany Firebirds
host the West Texas Desert Hawks, who were supposed to be four and oh
as well could not onto the commitmentcoming in here three to one. I've
(15:26):
got some questions. Excuse me,I'm gonna leave that in. I was
gonna edit that. I'm gonna leavethat. Almost hit the dump button.
I didn't have a chance. Idid't have a choice. It's coming out
podcast audience. They're getting that too. You're welcome. I'm sorry about that,
but man, it felt good.Okay, So tomorrow, I don't
know what you're stressing there. Idon't know what your world's gonna look like.
So I'm gonna use this time nowfor Firebird fans to get some questions
(15:48):
answered. I know a lot ofpeople. It's been really cool seeing the
growth of the podcast, the digitalside that people outside of the Capitol region,
whether you're listening to Odessa, Texasor Orlando, whatever it might be,
that this has become a for ArenaArena Football League fans to come to
for some information. So let's asksome questions. By we, I mean
me right now. Let me askquestions hopefully representing About two weeks ago,
(16:11):
it was craziness. Teams were folded, Pat McAfee's taken shots. This Andre
Carter person's making a career out ofit in Philadelphia. We've got these random
Twitter accounts. Everyone wants negativity, negativity, negativity. They're eating it up.
Why did it down? Why itdown? Now? The teams that
were a mess are out of theleague. Now the schedule's being reshifted.
(16:34):
It seems as if the Arena FootballLeague is heading in a direction that could
be positivity moving forward and the negativeheadlines are in the backseat. And a
new commissioner, Jeff Fisher, Ijust had a bunch of stuff. Yeah,
is there any reason for me todoubt what I just said? There's
nothing that we're missing us The publicthat something's awry or there's something going on
behind the scene, anything that likeshould wait a second, all seems good
(16:57):
Now. The last two weeks ispublic perception changing, both in front of
the media with reports and actually asmuch as you can tell it's behind the
scenes of the league. No,it's it's definitely a big lead forward.
So the I think I told youthe analogy that I've been using is,
you know, if sixteen of youwere climbing a mountain and you knew ten
(17:18):
of you could make it and sixprobably probably couldn't. The sooner your cutlast
of six, the faster the otherten can get to the top of the
mountain. I think there's there's againcheer one. Everybody sees AFL they oh,
that's that's that established league, andit will be. And that's what
we strive to drag it to.You know, because we have an extremely
(17:41):
talented team, We have a verypowerful organization, the three local owners.
To have that those three guys, you know, Andy Gelcher, Mike Quorda,
Richie says that like the those threeguys can solve a lot of problems
and as long as they're working together, we're gonna have a we're gonna have
a very strong product. So likedamon ware, Like, we have so
(18:02):
many good things here, so we'rewe're good. We're dragging everything. Like
like anybody who looks at us goesokay, Orlando, Nashville, you you're
like you guys get it. You'regood, West Texas very good. I
just think I think the former leadershipof the league was trying to run before
they could walk, and maybe didn'tquite understand what the game really was and
(18:26):
really can be. And I thinkthat now that you've got owners stepping in,
changing the landscape to what makes sensein a work, Jeff Fisher stepping
in, adding an instant credibility. You know you're good. I will I
will say something like I've never beenpopular in leagues, Why should I start?
Now? There's a there's been arule change since says mister mister Fisher
(18:52):
has taken over. That was onmy list. We can jump ahead on
questions, go right ahead. Soit's funny to me. When you are
a fan of arena football, it'sarena football, iron man rules. When
you are a fan of indoor footballoutside football, it's we want unlimited substitutions.
(19:17):
So we are switching from ironman tounlimited substitutions, which means if you're
on offense, you play offense. You're on defense, you play defense.
No specialists anymore. You know, you got twenty one man roster, twenty
four total, twenty one active ongame day. And you know, uh,
Jake Mullinich, who is a linebackerand a full back, Uh,
he'll be he'll be a linebacker.You know, Daris Prince was already a
(19:42):
specialist. That's not gonna change forhim. But it's you know, it's
interesting. We built a team thatlooks pretty much unbeatable in the arena world,
and now we're going to compete unlimitedsubstitutions. Okay, I don't know
if you can answer this, becausethere's two big bold headlines that jump out
to me about that. I'm talkingmore about the league now in its current
(20:04):
form, of why that rule hasbeen changed, because the first way you
could look at that rule change inmid season this is happening is that let's
say, for instance, there wereThis is a weird way to compare it,
but I think people are gonna understand. Okay, let's say the league
launched with ten and had six developmentalteams. Let's say you had like ten
teams were in the Arena Football oneand you had like a minor league system,
(20:26):
Like we almost saw this happen withthe second Yeah, right, we
almost saw this happen with like theXFL's third version, where there was talks
it was gonna be a feeder leaguedirectly to the NFL, that it was
going to really be the minor leaguesystem and not in between college. So
I bring that up because if yousaid, Okay, we're not gonna move
this from ten teams to twelve teamsin the season, I would understand why
iron Man would go away. Hey, we're explaining the league. We're gonna
(20:49):
put these players in potentially harmful scenarioswhere their bodies weren't ready for this.
We're changing the iron Man rule becausewe just don't have as many bodies.
Okay, you want to expand aget more cities and make more revenue than
your one, Okay, but that'snot what happened. And then this scenario,
I would think, this is mybest assumption. Let's say you've got
(21:11):
ten teams. We're gonna use theSouthwest Kansas Storm for an example, not
picking on them, but there wasclearly a talent difference between the Southwest Kansas
Storm and the Almedy Firebirds. Theythe firewords one by fifty. Now with
these guys is free agents from Minnesota, Philadelphia, Louisiana. With some talent
out there, they could start callingthem up. I believe I'm under the
(21:33):
impressions they can call these guys upand be like, hey, Minnesota defensive
tackle, we want you come playfor the Southwest Kansas Storm. Minnesota guy
gets on the phone and says,I'm not playing iron Man. Okay,
I just got right. I justgot screwed over in my past city.
Now you're gonna tell me to playboth sides of the football. No thanks,
Well, what if you only playdefensive tackle and we're gonna pay you
(21:53):
a very similar salary? Oh okay, now we're talking. Is it unfair
for me to make that assumption andleap of Maybe why the rule was changed
is because more talent can be putback in the league. And this is
almost say hey, we know you, we know things happen on other teams.
We're not gonna screw you guys asecond time with asking to play iron
Man. So the one of thereasons that we pay as much as we
(22:18):
do in this league is because ofiron Man. Like it's a the base
salary in the AFL is a thousandto game. The base salary in the
IFL is I believe two fifty twosixty. So we do that, you
know what I mean, We wealready compensated that. And part of that
is you want the best talent, you want the absolute best players. But
(22:40):
I I I one hundreds stand it'sit probably is safer for the players.
I mean probably because you don't geta lot of guys doing something they haven't
done before. I don't think it'ssignificantly safer, or at least not in
my experience, and I can reallyonly tell you what I've seen. So
eighteen nine eighteen, in UH twentyone we played unlimited substitutions. Twenty two
(23:10):
we played iron Man. Twenty threewe tried to play iron Man. I
didn't have more injuries on the twentytwo squad than I had done the twenty
one squad, like I did,I just didn't. And there was a
lot of guys that first didn't loveit, and then you started having guys
like like Darius Prince is a dogdude. He may be the goat,
but he's a dog like you.If there's a wide receiver yapping at him,
(23:30):
he's first gonna get a touchdown, then walk over, walk by the
bench, and like I got one, now you get one. But the
next thing he's gonna do is walkup to coach wear and go, I
want to play defense. I wanton him, I want him and we
a lot of guys do that kindof stuff, like Trayvon Shortz. I
think Shorts is an interesting conversation rightnow. Historically speaking, Schwartz is an
outdoor linebacker, so he plays areally great jack backer. Like he's if
(23:55):
if you have a good mac back, he's he's a beast at at at
jack. He's also so a hellof a full back running back. So
like, if you're Shorts right now, where do you want to be?
Because it was easier for me,you'd have Jews. You know, you
could play both. You could playa couple downs on defense, play some
offense. Like Nick Hay Nick heonly wants to play defense. Nick,
he wants to run off the middleof and eat your quarterback. That's what
(24:15):
he wants. But like there's alot of guys that, like like Markel
Wade's a wide receiver, but he'sa really good defensive back too. Like,
there's guys that I think are goingto be upset that they don't get
to play both ways. Now ah, and it leads to this other question.
Look at this, We did noteven talk about what I was going
to ask you because I like doingthis on the air to get more authenticity,
make it feel real, because itis real and you're listening right now.
(24:37):
This is about as reel as itgets, cutting close to the bone.
So because of the adjustment in theleague, which you just laid out
to me, is there's gonna besome guys with a specialty position who can
excel more than when they were playingiron Man. So whether or not it
would seem yes, it'll benefit thatrespective team will be a huge deal.
However, that also leads to thisother storyline that if we will use Markel
(24:57):
Wade for an example, you knowwhat, mar r Kel Wade can be
an impactful wide receiver. He playedreally well defensively last game. But he
might be the best wide receiver onthe ninth best team in the league.
Man Oregon or Washington or Lewandowski, the quarterback who came off the bench.
Who was in a camp fight therefor Medlock? Someone might have saw him
play this. First two passes weretouchdowns. Are trade's gonna be allowed for
(25:22):
the rest of the season. Arewe gonna see roster movement where a team
can call somebody else up in thisleague in twenty twenty four and say we
want to make a trade. Ifwe're gonna outlaw iron Man, if we're
going to adjust the rosters, wewant to adjust our roster with the help
of you. Are we aware oftrades? Are gonna be allowed now for
the rest of the season. Yeah, I believe there's a deadline. But
the one thing I have noticed iswhile while Jeff Fisher and this and this,
(25:47):
this group of leadership are fixing theissues, that does it feels like
there's less oversight right now. Butthat's not going to remain. Like that's
not how this that's not how theseguys got to the level they're at.
Like they're they're professionals. They knowhow to run businesses, they know how
to do things. But if itknow, yeah, there's transactions. I
mean we just added two players. You know, we just released two players.
(26:11):
We added two players. It's yeah, it's it's gonna be. It's
a normal season, and there's there'sa there's a deadline. I don't have
it on me. Could have changed, changed, could have changed. But
but you but you mentioned it too, Like there's a lot there's so many
players out there right now. LikeI said, when West Texas comes to
town, it's Jonathan Baynett quarterback.Y'all know him, Calvin fans, my
(26:37):
boy, Pudge Puch can play bothways. He's a hell of a full
back and he's a linebacker. Likethere's there's all these guys that are over
there, like Kenny Veal, LikeKenny Veel's he's he's secondary man. He'll
he'll eat you alive. But likethat's it's true. That is true.
He won't eat you alive. Butyou're solid. No, it's just it's
there's those guys are all there. But you mentioned Oregon all these other teams
(27:02):
that kind of went by the waysidewhere the players go. I've seen a
lot of emails, a lot ofemails, Hey can you get this in
front of coach wear for me?Hey? Can you let coach wear no
available? Hey? I'd love tocome to albody. I bet we we're
not the only one they're emailing.I believe Organs still run. You met
Minnesota, Oregon was out and thenthey're back and whatever. Listen, let's
(27:22):
put it like this, Orlando,Nashville, West Texas. Those three teams
you, hey, guys, rememberyou asked me contenders or pretenders? Those
are contenders. Okay, all right, those As and this now with us,
they are contenders to come in seconds. Now it's turned to do what
I like to call the presidential addressonce in a while. It doesn't again,
(27:44):
I have to do my own musicfor that last question before we get
to the dump here and close outthis. Yeah Thursday. Additional thevacing guys
personally, what do I have todo to get comments back on the Firebird
YouTube page because it was very I'mbeing selfish now, it was very cool.
It was very cool to have itin twenty twenty two for the Empire
(28:06):
twenty twenty one. It is theunique thing that a live broadcast can have
comments that the broadcast you can seeduring the games. I'm all fired up,
I said out a tweet like jointhe conversation with us, and I
believe you guys had had it onkid mode because it was like a kid
themed game and it wasn't one o'clockSunday game and the kids were there.
I would understand why you wouldn't wantit because some people might be trolling the
(28:27):
comments because of the negative publicity ofearlier in the month. Can I get
comments on the Firebird YouTube game feedthis Friday night? I'm not the one
you got to take it up with? Is it bo? Is it Ben?
It's a majority of players who aresick of explaining to their women why
(28:48):
thirsty women comment what they do whenthey get a chance on YouTube. No
way, there is a there's waymore than you you anticipate of our guys
who are in committed relationships who theirwomen see a bunch of thirsty women saying
stupid stuff and they don't really wantit. It's not why we didn't put
(29:11):
it up, but it was definitelyI was definitely thanked for it. Hang
on, those are bots. Theyknow they're bots, right, they're real
people. You think women that areupset about YouTube comments care where they're coming
from. I was gonna say,let me talk to the ladies, but
that's not a good idea either.No, it's okay, It's it's one
of those deals. It's the thethe player union, the player reps have
(29:33):
stepped in. Okay, I didn'tknow it was an issue. But then
the amount of people more than five, less than seventeen who came and said
thank you to me that there wereno comments because they made their nights sleep
a lot easier. And I didn'tdo it. I didn't do it a
purpose. I'm not getting comments then, Okay, I don't think you're in
(29:56):
a comment Wow, social media please, and if you're listening from anywhere outside
of Albany and we'd love to bea part of the social media stuff,
they're wow. Okay, I wouldnever have guessed that was the reason why
it was. It's crazy, it'sit's absolutely insane. I had I have.
I was shocked because again I sawyou ask for the comments. I
(30:17):
don't bother bo Bo directs a greatgame. I don't bother the during the
game. I was gonna say somethingto them, and then a bunch of
guys give it to me when Hey, we assume with you because you get
us thanks for no comments. Whatare you talking about? I love the
comments. I like it, likeme too, Like nah, there's like
everyone, it doesn't even matter, like every any woman, anything that looks
(30:37):
remotely female on there that says like, great job, whatever, come visit
my website. Every one of ourgirls goes, who the hell is this?
Who the hell is that? Whothe hell is this? You know
what this? This must be anage thing for me, because then this
is the point where most of theplayers on the team are younger than me.
This might happen a lot more inlate twenty early thirties relations. I
(31:00):
guess couples get upset if you likeanother girl's post on social media, or
like you don't comment or share yourstuff. This must be an age thing
I missed with my wife. Itold you the number one rule my wife
told me when we first started datingwas I don't want you to post about
me ever on social media. Now. It didn't exist then it was aim
and well instid messenger aim. ButI stuck by the rule until our recent
(31:22):
pregnancy announcement. I was like, you know, you're breaking the rule.
She goes, I didn't know whenI was seventeen when I was doing sends
me random stuff about you all thetime, So yeah on snapchat too.
The heck? All right, sowhat else we wanna know about the FFL
except for the fact that we aboutto win this thing I would like to
know about. Drew Prescott. That'soh well, I mean you talk about
that. It's like planning, right, Like you plan to win, you
(31:42):
plan to win financially. Prescottpw dotcom. That is the website where you
can do a little homework research AndrewPrescott. Learn a bit more about the
man who's gonna help you come upwith a great financial plan. Nothing is
certain in the world of finance, but if you don't have a good plan,
it's pretty certain you're gonna probably hurton that one. So get a
good plan. You can weather alot of different storms. Five one eight
(32:06):
two zero three nineteen eighty three.Five one eight two zero three nineteen eighty
three. Is life insurance important foryour portfolio? As a mutual fund?
Stocks? Four one ks whatever. There's so many options out there, so
many different roads to walk, somany different places that you can invest in,
depending upon your strategy. Makes senseor don't. Drew Prescott will help
(32:29):
you make sense of it all.Prescottw dot com five one eight two zero
three, nineteen eighty three. DrewPrescott, give them a call, talk
about your financial well being two dayguys. There's some things that just they
have a way to fall into theend of the show. We call it
the dimp And it's coming up nextright here, Fox Sports Radio ninety five
nine and nine eighty. It's Lavacand Gus on ninety five nine Fox Sports
(32:51):
Radio. Yes there, it isMonday for almost sound burrow us out of
the studio for a few days. That music, the clothes out of show.
We're live at MVP Arena tomorrow. We are a best of show on
Monday. We'll be back in thisstudio about five days. Tuesday, May
(33:15):
twenty eighth, will be back inthis studio. We will be live tomorrow.
Okay, I don't know. No, we won't be here tomorrow.
Correct, We'll be live, Yeah, at my office, MVP Arena,
somewhere in the MVP arena. Gettingyou ready for albody Firebird actually gets West
Texas. Yeah. The Desert Hawks, they're you know, they're a really
(33:37):
good team if they're playing anyone, not us. Uh, they're gonna be
in serious Dodo playing us. Butspeaking of Do Doo, it is the
dump. Sure do you ever likesometimes you don't realize how like perfectly you
fit a certain place. What doyou mean? I think I know what
(33:58):
you means. I was visiting.I was I had to I had to
go to an office today. Solike I'll say, well, I was
at the Innegram sleep sunder this morning. Yeah, and you know doctor Eric,
he's amazing. Lori Anne runs theoffice. All the people in there,
Well, we're sitting there and therethere there's new technology that just came
(34:22):
out, so I get to trythis like new mouthpiece to keep my airway
open. But while we're doing everything, the Lorie Amferte's telling me, like
a couple of the women who workthere are like they brought it up because
you so you have your third childcoming. So one lady's got her second
child coming and other one's expecting herfirst. And we're sitting there and I'm
(34:45):
like, I'm like, there's somethingwrong with this place. And they're like,
what do you mean there's something wrongwith this place? And Doc in
a couple of water in his hand, and I slapped the water out of
his hand and go, you trickedout, you're gonna get pregnant. And
everybody starts laughing. But if youdo that, like I need nine percent
of the rooms you're gonna be inYou're gonna get in trouble. But I
(35:07):
just like, I don't know.It wasn't even I didn't even think.
I just slapped the water out ofhis sad. I'm like, Doc,
you're gonna get pregnant and stumping inthe water. And it went over well.
So I just like in a while, like you know, you like
I found my people. Those aremy people of the integrat sleeves. Do
you feel like if it went poorly, you're just gonna give them the mouthpiece
back and be like it was agood run. We had a great partnership.
(35:28):
I went to bowl. I'm sorry. I think I would have been
like, oh my god, lookat that distraction and then ran out with
the mouth I'm not giving the mouthpieces back. That's not happening. But
no, it's just like like Isaid, you know, it's like you
do that. Like if I didthat here, Howard would be like,
you're cleaning that up, like youknow what I mean, Like like like
most places to do that, itwon't it won't go over well, but
(35:49):
it did there. I feel likebecause it's the dump and no, we
didn't actually call it that because ofpoopy every once in a while, little
poopy news in the dump as wefinish the day. How about our friends
at aol dot com they're still around? Yeah? Wow, good for them.
(36:10):
They've they've released a study on howoften you should drop it two damn.
So it's it ultimately comes down tothe quote individual and their pooping schedule.
But guys, here's some important thingsto remember when thinking of your two
schedule. It's more important to getyourself on some kind of regular and consistent
(36:37):
dookie schedule than sweating whether or notyou go once a day. Do you
have a regular schedule? I donot. I used to at one point
in my life I did, Butschedules aren't really a thing now. I
mean, you know what, Iwant to know what the research was done
to find this out? How dothey know these things? I believe it
was studies. What do you meanby stuff? Like? They ask people
(37:00):
questions, they talk to doctors.Did you know that some people have a
psychological issue with with the with poopingaway from home? Yeah, the form
of vacation constipation is what they callit. So like while away from home,
even just at work, they won'twon't do it. I know a
lot of people have that, notjust they like they won't do it at
(37:21):
work, they won't do it atschool. They won't. Yeah, I
think that's actually I think that's fairlycommon. I would believe I will go
anywhere I need to go, Butit's just like I would rather go at
home. Obviously I'm comfortable there. That's my place, but like I don't.
We don't go in the office. We don't go in the Firebird office.
Oh dare you well? Because it'slike right there, to the middle
(37:42):
of everywhere, it doesn't have avent. I think you need to go
a little further on that for thosethat don't know your My door is right
next to the bathroom. There wego, and that's like there's an intern
who's been who's been taking liberties, who might be who might get kicked out
in is gonna end? Yeah?I might have to, I might fail
in you know what. I kindof w that's how it would end.
Why did your internship end the summerat the Albany Firebirds, Well, the
(38:04):
team president wrote me a letter andsaid my bowel movements were too close to
his off I I literally yelled theother day. I was like for Brieze,
for breeze like I had to.It's bad. That's his name,
Yes, that's his name. Now, quality over quantity is a rule when
it comes to your bathroom experiences.Yeah. Uh. The ultimate rule that
(38:27):
came up with is, if it'sbeen three days and you still haven't let
loose a this is their words, sewer pickle. Uh. An a laxative
or fiber supplement hasn't worked, youshould go see a doctor. Have you
heard the term sewer pickle before?I have not. Can't even take credit
for that one. I don't evenI hope it's not the last time we
used that term on this show.Sewer pickle. I'm I mean, I'm
(38:52):
here for it. I am herefor it. Uh, I'm here for
it. Yeah. I think sewerpickles something I'm gonna say. I'm going
to work it into casual conversations.See how it goes. Uh, do
you have anything for the dumper?I do? Okay? I thought you
had more. Oh, I meanI do. No, that's okay,
I do. I don't know,it's okay. How about how about Comcast
(39:15):
doing what I asked them to do? That wasn't Comcast now streaming bundles that
include Peacock, Apple TV Plus andNetflix for fifteen dollars a month will be
available starting Wednesday, May twenty nine. So you save, They say you
save an average of eight dollars amonth your Comcast user. No, I'm
(39:35):
not. Oh that's right, I'mVerizon FiOS. Is Comcast even here?
I think Comcast is a year Idon't think so anymore. No, Well,
they think they're one step ahead ofthe game of the spool or whatever
that service is called. Is itcalled Venos Sports? Now, I like
to spleu lou when that was goingto be a thing. Uh loc.
I feel like people are getting toofar ahead on plans now sports is getting
(39:57):
way too ahead of themselves. Likethe Super Bowl was the king of this
in the final four, or we'regonna name where we're going a few years
in advancing at the city ready thatmade sense. So it was the NCAA
and it was the super Bowl. The only people who got way ahead on
things. Now it feels like everyone'scopying this. The NFL Draft in twenty
twenty six has been announced that it'sgonna be in Pittsburgh. That's pretty cool.
(40:19):
I had to look up where thetwenty twenty five NFL Draft was gonna
because I didn't remember the announcement ofthat it's gonna be at lambeau Field.
That's pretty wild to think the NFLDraft's gonna be in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
I did not realize that that thedraft next year is in Green Bay.
So okay, Now Pittsburgh's got twentytwenty six and New York fans think
I alwaysed to be really cool andit was always here, but it really
is a big deal for those citiesto have that. So I was like,
Okay, that's that's a little differentthat they alread announced in twenty twenty
(40:44):
six. And then I saw thereport that the WWE has already announced where
they're gonna be in August twenty twentysix. If you haven't been following this
story, wrestle Mania was supposed tobe in Minneapolis this upcoming April twenty twenty
five. Something happened. I don'tknow if it was stadium availability, I
don't know if it was weather.Something happened where Minnesota was no longer the
(41:07):
host state in city for WrestleMania. Now it's in Vegas. To make it
up to them, they gave himan event. What two plus years from
now. I feel like this isthe new future in sports, and I
don't know if I like it ornot. I don't know if I just
have to think in advance. LikeI joked around yesterday on the show that
there's allegedly an Australia series that's gonnabe featured in the NFL soon. How
(41:30):
many years in advance do we need? That's a twenty hour time difference,
So we're gonn announce the Kangaroo seriesin twenty twenty seven. Is Conan O'Brien
gonna take over the Tonight Show againin twenty thirty two? Are we gonna
have all these wild things? Isthis the new thing in sports where people
are gonna four or five years? And it's college football used to do this.
I forgot about college football. Collegefootball used to aim the matchups like
(41:52):
eight years in advance so the coachcouldn't leave. It was a great coaching
move, Like, well, Davosweenycan't leave in eight years we're playing We're
playing Florida in twenty thirty five. How are we gonna beat him in seven
years? So I wonder if we'reback to this again, announcing things wildly
in advance to protect people's jobs.To protect is that like you can't leave?
(42:17):
But I don't know. We lockedin USC in twenty twenty nine.
Coach, it's almost not like protectingtheir job, almost holding them hostage,
like because it's all the more reasonto make sure you have the right coach.
But it's all like some coach, you can't leave. Some people in
America would say their companies are holdingthem hostage. They're trying to retire every
Dayly enough, I was made awarerecently that once they stop holding me hostage,
(42:45):
they also stop with the bi weeklyinsults to my bank account. So
I was like, all right, well I'll allow it just a little longer.
Twenty more years of this and thenI'm gone, I'm not going to
deal with this any anymore. Weirdgame. What is that game where you
start falling in love with the hostage? That's game. That was hell Sinky
(43:07):
Syndrome. I think that's what it'scalled. Yeah, it's man, I
like our bosses. I mean no, no, no, that was not
a reference to us. I don'tknow if that came off as that.
That was not a reference to us. Other people count down the days until
they retire I've thought about that, like what would you do when you retire?
Like what because like like, let'sbe Stockholm syndrome. By the way,
(43:29):
Stockholm, all right, I was. I knew it was a country
I could remember which I thought hellSinky was in there somewhere too, though
I thought there was. I thoughtthere was a hell Sinky syndrome. I
would have looked that up, butthat's harder to spell. Well, that's
what Google's for. You don't haveto get you don't have to get right
h E L L nice. Stopthere. You had said something about retirement.
I have an age in my headthat I want to retire at wait
(43:51):
oh hell say it was a dramaseries, a show. It was a
show. Yeah, An Aaron twentythirty four is gonna be revived. Speak
about the entrepreneur Elias Caro takes fourjournalists hostage in order to reveal that thirty
years ago, a bank manager anda district court judge took his family's money.
(44:13):
You know what, This came fullserbecause there was another point I wanted
to do in that announcing things waytoo far in advance in sports, because
now what's happening for television shows andstreaming services. I was looking forward to
the new Ninja Turtle cartoon series it'ssuposed to launch on Paramount Plus. More
so, my sons. Did yousee the movie the cartoon one? Yeah,
they running around mutant mayhem or somethingthat's iced tea or ice cube.
(44:36):
Excuse me, that's ice cube.Yeah. I don't like the artwork.
My kid was into it. Youliked it. I think you didn't know
any better. But Dexter a showyou and I both like leaveck. Have
you heard this news involving Dexter oneof the great i'd say TV shows the
last twenty five years. So Dexterhad one of the great awful let me
rephrase that, one of the worstseries finales of all time. But they
(44:57):
redeemed themselves with a great final siesand to wipe that away. Now they're
coming back with a prequel series witha young Dexter Morgan, a young Harrison
Morgan, a young Deborah Morgan. That's gonna be on Paramount Plus. I
saw the news today, I'm like, whoa, this is out today.
It's no, no, no,we're announcing the actors because we announced in
February twenty twenty three we are workingon the show. So now in May
of twenty twenty four, we're nowannounced we have the show cast, So
(45:21):
it's gonna come out in twenty twentyfive or twenty twenty six. Don't do
that to me. Just tell mewhen the show's coming out from now on.
You're confusing me. I can't lookthat far ahead. Here's here's the
problem. Okay, and you don'twatch horror movies like I do. No,
but you know, like you've heardof the Texas Chainsaw Mask here,
like yes, of course, Solike leather Face and everybody, they're in
a house and it's gross. Sothey made a prequel movie. And the
(45:44):
whole time I'm watching the prequel movie, I guess this is a spoiler alert.
I'm sitting there and I started gettinganxious. I'm like, oh my
god, how are they gonna survive. I'm like, they can't survive,
because if they survive, they're gonnago tell the FBI that there's a dude
wearing people's face is throwing a chainsawaround. And then the other movie never
happens. So there's like so ifyou think about it, like like with
(46:05):
U with Dexter Original Sin. Yeah, well I'm saying with this one,
it's like, Oh, I wonderif he's gonna get caught. No,
he's not gonna get caught everybody, because there's two more series coming, it's
not gonna happen. You were talkingabout retirement where I rudely interrupted you about
it. What are you doing? You're talking because here's the problem with our
jobs. Okay, we get totalk sports all the time. Have you
(46:29):
ever seen the retired people hanging outlike Stuart's and stuff in the morning.
All they do is talk sports andlottery. If we gave a lot of
results every day, we're already retired. I've got a number in my head
that i'd like to retire at.I'm sure everyone has the number in their
head of when they would like toretire. I don't. I felt like
I could do that. My wifehas told me that won't be the number,
(46:52):
because she said, I don't wantto hear your takes. You need
to tell this to other people.I don't need you. She goes,
when you have a week off fromwork, you're doing the sports show with
me, and I need Levac tolisten to you because you've been off for
five days and you're yelling hot takesat the television at your three year old
and you need that as much asyou don't think you do well. There's
(47:13):
that, and then there's always thelike when you want to go out to
eat and you don't want to talksports. You just want to have a
moment with the wife or the girlfriendor whoever or maybe both, and somebody
comes up to you and goes, how about the Yankees? I would have
him there. It's like, Ihas a steak, can I heat please?
It's a steak. I don't mindthat. I don't. I don't.
I don't mind if they come bylike oh man, tough one and
(47:37):
they leave, But like you don'thave people come up and just like of
course I've had people sit down.I've had people sit down at like like
a buff aty, like if Iwas at I've been a Chinese buffet and
way too long, and I knowsomebody's like, lies, he's fat.
No. I was just thinking aboutit's realizing that I've been in a while.
But ago I had a dude sitdown and start talking smack about the
Red Sox and the Yankees, andI'm like, I'll stab you with this
(47:59):
for not because I don't like whatyou're saying about the Yanks red socks.
I don't either, but like mykids here, I'm eating Like what you
you you have the audacity, that'sthe real world. Instead of saying that
yeah, testicular ford thude to sitdown and talk about it like that would
that drove me insane. I almostlost my ever love it on that one.
I do not mind it at all. I actually hope you do continue.
(48:20):
I will say the guy's name theysit down with you. I had
a guy. His name hopefully he'slistening. His name is Sid. His
name is Sid. S I sI d Sid. I actually tell you
where it was. It was underthe orange roof. So that's a sports
bl right, But like it wasme and my wife, my sister in
law Viv, and Sid just pulledup a chair and hung out all the
(48:43):
dinner along with us. And itwas like by said, see a lighter
said like being bold, like yougotta go, man, you gotta go.
But I that's a part of Ilove our job. Our job is
off. I love it. Iwant to sorry, that's that's too hard
for you, too far, that'stoo far to me. That makes I
feel like our show is doing well, that's the coolest compliment I get,
is like you're out somewhere. Theywant whoever it is, whether it's a
(49:06):
listener, whether it's just somebody rockinggear, you still need downtime. Like
one of the biggest problems I hadin the past was I would get home
and I wouldn't want to talk andthe like cause you need to call miss
the decompress And that was a hugefight all the time. Why don't you
talk to me? I want totalk, And it's like, dude,
I just I just literally just spokefor four hours straight. So actually at
(49:28):
that point, I think we werefive hours straight. I just spoke for
five hours straight. Can I havetwenty five minutes? Can I have five
minutes for every hour I was onthe air where I don't say anything?
And because it's not you, Igot paid to argue for five hours?
Do you want like like if youknow if your husband was a boxer,
you wouldn't just jump on them rightthere, like let's play fight at the
end. No, it's we originallyminutes ago. If you just us,
(49:51):
we're talking about retirement and what wewere all over, it's the no,
no, no, Like that allcame together where it's like, if we
retired, what would we do,Like would we talk for five hours?
Would we not talk? Would westill miss the times of talking sports out
in the public and out of restaurantsand having fun and doing events. It's
so much fun. That's what weget to do. Our field sports media
(50:12):
is the one that lets it hangon the longest, maybe not even I
think everybody in media, television, radio, newspapers, those are the eighty
year olds who are still doing it. Those are the ones who never want
to retire. There I want partof it. I won't name names,
but there's a lot of people inthis market who have not retired, who
could have retired ten or fifteen yearsago, and no one would have better
(50:32):
deny about it. I tried,They wouldn't let me go. You if
you've lived in the Capitol region whereveryou're listening, you know the media member
that's probably like you could retire.Man, have you had enough? Have
you had enough? Like? Can'tyou? Well, there's I never want
to be that. I think like, I think there'll always be something though,
like especially now the world of podcastingall that like when you when you
(50:55):
like weekly just put all your thoughtsdown and you're like, all right,
here we go. Here's the situation. You know, I cannot believe you
and I just did a few minuteson our retirement. It's if you and
I are gonna be allowed to retire. We know this industry well enough.
They're throwing us out before we getto retire. What are we talking about.
I had a couple of conversations lastcouple of days. I'm not gonna
have a choice. I'mna be outsoon. They're gonna they're gonna throw us
(51:15):
out. Me greeting you at Walmartsoon, it's gonna be great. Hey,
welcome to Walmart. How you doingyou want? Uh? We got
special on uh chips like chips. We got lots of chips if you want
some chips. I've only been inthe market for one person's retirement, one
person who said they were stepping awayfrom radio. And they're sitting across from
me right. Well, usually theydon't let people do it. Usually they
(51:37):
throw you out and tell you gofind something else to do. Yeah,
that worked out. Well that's aboutit. Actually, Wait, so the
twenty eighth is what I think twoor three years. There you go,
that's how long it's stuck. Goodfor you, good for everyone. Uh
sorry, back I like money andyou're back tomorrow Live from MVP are Now,
Yes we are GT Toys do that'stoys with Today tomorrow live from MVP

we'll be, will be somewhere andwe will let you know what's going on

about a team from Odessa forced tocome under the Friday night lights of Albany
