an eleven o'clock Eastern kickoff at night. The games in LA to an eleven
o'clock kickoff on the East Coast ona Friday night involved an East Coast team.

who have had their NIL used beforeand have enjoyed one lawsuit that was settled
today for two point seven billion dollars. What there's articles out today that the
Big three conferences, the Big twelve, the ACC, and the SEC have
agreed to the settlement and they shouldbe a big ten at Big twelve in

ACC have joined forces on this settlement. The SEC and PAC twelve are likely
to finish off their part later on. I'm the PAC twelves didn't gonna do
it when they don't exist anymore.So here's how that works. Hey,
all thirty plus conferences in college sportsright now, everybody owes everybody money because
we're not going to win the case. So some people have it as pocket

change because they're all going to getchopped up here. So thirty million easy.
Weren't we going to pay Travis Hunterthat anyways to transfer to Bama?

use the America East, right,let's use the MAC both max as much

for most teams in like the nextfew weeks. He just took over the

booked August eleventh to seventeenth, takingthe kids to Disney, and then I

some type of rules. I'm skeptical. I am of that's gonna happen.

it was craziness. Teams were folded, Pat McAfee's taken shots. This Andre
Carter person's making a career out ofit in Philadelphia. We've got these random
Twitter accounts. Everyone wants negativity,negativity, negativity. They're eating it up.
Why did it down? Why itdown? Now? The teams that
were a mess are out of theleague. Now the schedule's being reshifted.

(16:34):
It seems as if the Arena FootballLeague is heading in a direction that could
be positivity moving forward and the negativeheadlines are in the backseat. And a
new commissioner, Jeff Fisher, Ijust had a bunch of stuff. Yeah,
is there any reason for me todoubt what I just said? There's
nothing that we're missing us The publicthat something's awry or there's something going on
behind the scene, anything that likeshould wait a second, all seems good

(16:57):
Now. The last two weeks ispublic perception changing, both in front of
the media with reports and actually asmuch as you can tell it's behind the
scenes of the league. No,it's it's definitely a big lead forward.
So the I think I told youthe analogy that I've been using is,
you know, if sixteen of youwere climbing a mountain and you knew ten

of you could make it and sixprobably probably couldn't. The sooner your cutlast
of six, the faster the otherten can get to the top of the
mountain. I think there's there's againcheer one. Everybody sees AFL they oh,
that's that's that established league, andit will be. And that's what
we strive to drag it to.You know, because we have an extremely

talented team, We have a verypowerful organization, the three local owners.
To have that those three guys,you know, Andy Gelcher, Mike Quorda,
Richie says that like the those threeguys can solve a lot of problems
and as long as they're working together, we're gonna have a we're gonna have

many good things here, so we'rewe're good. We're dragging everything. Like
like anybody who looks at us goesokay, Orlando, Nashville, you you're
like you guys get it. You'regood, West Texas very good. I
just think I think the former leadershipof the league was trying to run before
they could walk, and maybe didn'tquite understand what the game really was and

really can be. And I thinkthat now that you've got owners stepping in,
changing the landscape to what makes sensein a work, Jeff Fisher stepping
in, adding an instant credibility.You know you're good. I will I
will say something like I've never beenpopular in leagues, Why should I start?
Now? There's a there's been arule change since says mister mister Fisher

has taken over. That was onmy list. We can jump ahead on
questions, go right ahead. Soit's funny to me. When you are
a fan of arena football, it'sarena football, iron man rules. When
you are a fan of indoor footballoutside football, it's we want unlimited substitutions.

(19:17):
So we are switching from ironman tounlimited substitutions, which means if you're
on offense, you play offense.You're on defense, you play defense.
No specialists anymore. You know,you got twenty one man roster, twenty
four total, twenty one active ongame day. And you know, uh,
Jake Mullinich, who is a linebackerand a full back, Uh,
he'll be he'll be a linebacker.You know, Daris Prince was already a

(19:42):
specialist. That's not gonna change forhim. But it's you know, it's
interesting. We built a team thatlooks pretty much unbeatable in the arena world,
and now we're going to compete unlimitedsubstitutions. Okay, I don't know
if you can answer this, becausethere's two big bold headlines that jump out
to me about that. I'm talkingmore about the league now in its current

(20:04):
form, of why that rule hasbeen changed, because the first way you
could look at that rule change inmid season this is happening is that let's
say, for instance, there wereThis is a weird way to compare it,
but I think people are gonna understand. Okay, let's say the league
launched with ten and had six developmentalteams. Let's say you had like ten
teams were in the Arena Football oneand you had like a minor league system,

(20:26):
Like we almost saw this happen withthe second Yeah, right, we
almost saw this happen with like theXFL's third version, where there was talks
it was gonna be a feeder leaguedirectly to the NFL, that it was
going to really be the minor leaguesystem and not in between college. So
I bring that up because if yousaid, Okay, we're not gonna move
this from ten teams to twelve teamsin the season, I would understand why
iron Man would go away. Hey, we're explaining the league. We're gonna

(20:49):
put these players in potentially harmful scenarioswhere their bodies weren't ready for this.
We're changing the iron Man rule becausewe just don't have as many bodies.
Okay, you want to expand aget more cities and make more revenue than
your one, Okay, but that'snot what happened. And then this scenario,
I would think, this is mybest assumption. Let's say you've got

(21:11):
ten teams. We're gonna use theSouthwest Kansas Storm for an example, not
picking on them, but there wasclearly a talent difference between the Southwest Kansas
Storm and the Almedy Firebirds. Theythe firewords one by fifty. Now with
these guys is free agents from Minnesota, Philadelphia, Louisiana. With some talent
out there, they could start callingthem up. I believe I'm under the

(21:33):
impressions they can call these guys upand be like, hey, Minnesota defensive
tackle, we want you come playfor the Southwest Kansas Storm. Minnesota guy
gets on the phone and says,I'm not playing iron Man. Okay,
I just got right. I justgot screwed over in my past city.
Now you're gonna tell me to playboth sides of the football. No thanks,
Well, what if you only playdefensive tackle and we're gonna pay you

(21:53):
a very similar salary? Oh okay, now we're talking. Is it unfair
for me to make that assumption andleap of Maybe why the rule was changed
is because more talent can be putback in the league. And this is
almost say hey, we know you, we know things happen on other teams.
We're not gonna screw you guys asecond time with asking to play iron
Man. So the one of thereasons that we pay as much as we

do in this league is because ofiron Man. Like it's a the base
salary in the AFL is a thousandto game. The base salary in the
IFL is I believe two fifty twosixty. So we do that, you
know what I mean, We wealready compensated that. And part of that
is you want the best talent,you want the absolute best players. But

(22:40):
I I I one hundreds stand it'sit probably is safer for the players.
I mean probably because you don't geta lot of guys doing something they haven't
done before. I don't think it'ssignificantly safer, or at least not in
my experience, and I can reallyonly tell you what I've seen. So
eighteen nine eighteen, in UH twentyone we played unlimited substitutions. Twenty two

(23:10):
we played iron Man. Twenty threewe tried to play iron Man. I
didn't have more injuries on the twentytwo squad than I had done the twenty
one squad, like I did,I just didn't. And there was a
lot of guys that first didn't loveit, and then you started having guys
like like Darius Prince is a dogdude. He may be the goat,
but he's a dog like you.If there's a wide receiver yapping at him,

(23:30):
he's first gonna get a touchdown,then walk over, walk by the
bench, and like I got one, now you get one. But the
next thing he's gonna do is walkup to coach wear and go, I
want to play defense. I wanton him, I want him and we
a lot of guys do that kindof stuff, like Trayvon Shortz. I
think Shorts is an interesting conversation rightnow. Historically speaking, Schwartz is an
outdoor linebacker, so he plays areally great jack backer. Like he's if

if you have a good mac back, he's he's a beast at at at
jack. He's also so a hellof a full back running back. So
like, if you're Shorts right now, where do you want to be?
Because it was easier for me,you'd have Jews. You know, you
could play both. You could playa couple downs on defense, play some
offense. Like Nick Hay Nick heonly wants to play defense. Nick,
he wants to run off the middleof and eat your quarterback. That's what

he wants. But like there's alot of guys that, like like Markel
Wade's a wide receiver, but he'sa really good defensive back too. Like,
there's guys that I think are goingto be upset that they don't get
to play both ways. Now ah, and it leads to this other question.
Look at this, We did noteven talk about what I was going
to ask you because I like doingthis on the air to get more authenticity,
make it feel real, because itis real and you're listening right now.

This is about as reel as itgets, cutting close to the bone.
So because of the adjustment in theleague, which you just laid out
to me, is there's gonna besome guys with a specialty position who can
excel more than when they were playingiron Man. So whether or not it
would seem yes, it'll benefit thatrespective team will be a huge deal.
However, that also leads to thisother storyline that if we will use Markel

Wade for an example, you knowwhat, mar r Kel Wade can be
an impactful wide receiver. He playedreally well defensively last game. But he
might be the best wide receiver onthe ninth best team in the league.
Man Oregon or Washington or Lewandowski,the quarterback who came off the bench.
Who was in a camp fight therefor Medlock? Someone might have saw him
play this. First two passes weretouchdowns. Are trade's gonna be allowed for

the rest of the season. Arewe gonna see roster movement where a team
can call somebody else up in thisleague in twenty twenty four and say we
want to make a trade. Ifwe're gonna outlaw iron Man, if we're
going to adjust the rosters, wewant to adjust our roster with the help
of you. Are we aware oftrades? Are gonna be allowed now for
the rest of the season. Yeah, I believe there's a deadline. But
the one thing I have noticed iswhile while Jeff Fisher and this and this,

this group of leadership are fixing theissues, that does it feels like
there's less oversight right now. Butthat's not going to remain. Like that's
not how this that's not how theseguys got to the level they're at.
Like they're they're professionals. They knowhow to run businesses, they know how

mean we just added two players.You know, we just released two players.

boy, Pudge Puch can play bothways. He's a hell of a full
back and he's a linebacker. Likethere's there's all these guys that are over
there, like Kenny Veal, LikeKenny Veel's he's he's secondary man. He'll
he'll eat you alive. But likethat's it's true. That is true.
He won't eat you alive. Butyou're solid. No, it's just it's
there's those guys are all there.But you mentioned Oregon all these other teams

that kind of went by the waysidewhere the players go. I've seen a
lot of emails, a lot ofemails, Hey can you get this in
front of coach wear for me?Hey? Can you let coach wear no
