(00:00):
It's love Ak and Gaze on thevoice of the Capitol Regions Sports fan Fox
Sports ninety five and nine. I'msorry, before we get into the Firebirds,
I just saw a barstool Sports justtweeted out a couple hours ago.
Now, Hassan Reddick hasn't has beenghosting the Jets. He's cosplaying in Tokyo.
(00:26):
What he's like dressed like a samurai? The Lost Samurai. It's on
his own Instagram. Yeah, sohe's out dressing like a samurai. He's
got a sword in his belt andall nine walking around the streets to Tokyo
instead of working out with the Jets. That's the Jets, Like, that's
I'm sorry, sum up the Jetswith one weird internet story. Hassan Redick
(00:48):
not working out with the team, busy cosplaying in Tokyo as much as he
felt like. I was a criticof this year's Hard Knocks, this would
be a great scene. Oh mygod, right down, where's Reddick?
It? I seen Reddick and atthat moment, they were all the players
focused on their families. Hassan Redickwas in Tokyo. Terrible, Ray Donovan,
(01:11):
I thought that they posted the mictried to eat it the next right
raison of it. Oh my god, dude, that's great. All right,
Firebirds. By now, my guysshould be in the air. They're
probably gonna land about forty five minutesfrom now, I think. So I'm
trying to remember I got this,I got the whole thing ran out in
(01:32):
my computer. I could open it, but I'm lazy. They're close.
They're remember like, it's snowed inMontana. It's snowed, snowed, it's
snowed in Montana. Yeah, theyhad, They had like a decent amount
of snow in Montana earlier this week, so it's slowed a lot of things
down. But Billings is ready togo. Guys are on their way out
there. They actually might be landingright about now. And this game,
(01:57):
guys, it's this one decides right. So at this moment, the Billings
Outlaws, Salat of Liberty, andAlbandy Firebirds have clinched playoff spots, but
we haven't clinched hole field yet.We need to beat Billings then we get
home field. Billings wants to beatus for the same reason. And I
(02:21):
spoke to their owner, Steven Titus, and he said, flat out I
listened to the show. It's verynice, big fan, feel like you're
feel like I'm talking to a famousperson. I said, I tell everybody
I'm locally famous, and he laughed, and he goes, I'm excited about
this game because it's our chance toprove that. It's our chance to see
if we're really that good or ifwe just had an easy schedule, which
(02:45):
is something that's been said on ourshow, Unflock You. And it's not
like like we always said they're agood team, but our schedule is so
much harder than theirs in comparison toother sports, because I think the best
comparisons here come from the NBA ofpast years, East Coast versus West Coast,
(03:05):
Eastern Conference versus Western Conference, baseballfans right in the middle of baseball
season, American League and National League. And we always know for the AFC
NFC, like we get this inthe pro sports, when there's that big
cutoff of what conference is better, how does this come together? The problem
with that is there's really not conferencesin the arena football, no planning in
(03:28):
travel, in scheduling. It's turnedinto in some ways East Coast versus everybody
else or East Coast versus Central West. I get why you would want to
have it like that again, tolimit travel and everything else, and to
make sure you face off the bestversus the best at the end. That's
the tough part about evaluating the BillionsOutlaws squad. Right now, you let
(03:50):
everything out that coach said and thepotential criticism that's been faced, whether or
not that will be used as amotivating We've been using the term billboard material.
At some point we'll think of amore up to date term. We
haven't thought of one yet. Wedon't know what it is, but we'll
figure it out. It's twenty twentyfour. I think they still have billboards
out there. Maybe I don't know, but like I can't, it's hard
levak for me to get a realgood feeling with just two weeks left to
(04:13):
go in the regular season of isthe Billings out Lawn team better than Alby
or better than Orlando? And thisshould not be the way I group them
together. But you and I bothsaw the southwest Kansas storm, which geographically
would be closer to Montana. Theywere not very good, not trying to
be mean about the storm, atleast the roster they brought all that he
(04:35):
could have beaten them by a hundredpoints. Darius Prince I said this on
the broadcast. I said, DariusPrince would have had an opportunity to break
the single games scoring record in thehistory of the Arena Football League. For
how bad the defense is playing forthe Storm in the first half. Coach
where pulled the starters. Now billionsas an opportunity to get a home playoff
game, win the league. Somewherein the conversation be the favorite for the
(04:56):
Arena Champion. But this is almosta moment for in the flock. Can
tell me Flock University, everybody wholistens to the show, the chat rooms,
the social media, the tweets thatare deleted and not deleted, please
like you can come at me andsay, like, I don't know who
the best team in the Arena FootballLeague is until after this game is finished,
because you know, you gave megrief about the Orlando take from earlier
this week about Orlando's probably gonna befavored next week against Albany. I don't
(05:20):
think a lot of Firebird fans aretaking Billings seriously. I think they're going
into the games thinking a lot ofthe storylines of its week. It's not
the same type of competition. Ithink they think this could be a potentially
double digit victory for the Firebirds, and it doesn't feel like that from what
you've told me and from what coachWaer has been saying about the roster.
Now I want to I will Iwill add this in because it is true.
(05:41):
Without Jonathan Bain on these stats, things change a little bit. But
Jake Medlock is number one and allall your quarterback stats. He's tied with
Isaac Harker, the quarterback for Billingsfor touchdown passes at twenty eight. But
Harker's two in every category. Youknow, and when it comes to rush,
your rushing leader in every category isJake Medlock, our quarterback right after
(06:05):
him Hunter Swire go to the runningback for Billings. He's a beast.
He's got second most yards, secondbest average, and then he's he's fourth
when you look at actual rushing touchdowns. But it's they're a good team.
They run the ball, they playdefense, they're really well coached. It's
(06:29):
this is not a show up andwin game. Like if if and I
know the I know the Firebirds, they would never they would never do that.
They would never show up and justbe like, Okay, we won
because we're here. But if theydid, if they showed up like that,
they'll lose this game because they're healthierthan we are and they're a good
football team, and we're traveling along way to play them. So this
(06:50):
is a This is a good game. This is not what you're gonna see
on YouTube tomorrow night at eight o'clockis not going to be I mean,
I can see us area where theball bounce is right, and the Firebirds
take off and do some dominant things. But remember this is arena football.
That could happen the other way too. The ball bounces and things happen,
(07:11):
and scores are made up and leadsare taken down. This is going to
be a game. This is animportant game, and it's we know.
The pressure is on us to lockit up and lock up home field for
the July thirteenth, and the pressureis on them to prove that they belong
on the field with us. I'msure I batched this for some people earlier
in the week. I want tomake sure I get this right. I
(07:31):
want to make sure before we thisis our final hour for Friday show before
we get into what it could looklike for the remainder of the season,
and if you missed our conversation earlierin the show, I want to make
sure if there's any potential social mediabeefers with this show, they'll be silence
by ore. Next take playoff scenarios. Billions wins out, they would be
(07:53):
the top seed because eight and oneeasy and they would beat Albany would be
better than potentially eight and two.All Right, ma, I feel good
about that start. That's a goodstart for me. So if albody wins
and they lose to Orlando, eightand two is still an eighty percent winning
percentage. Billions could potentially fall toseven and two, that wouldn't matter.
(08:18):
Albody would still be higher. Okay, So when you start breaking this down,
it just down to this. Youneed to be a top two seed.
Yes, you need me a toptwo seed. Guarantee yourself that you're
getting You're you're not gonna have toplay the first weekend and you get that
home playoff game and hopefully get thatyou know, use your home crowd,
which can you imagine if we geta crowd similar to oh you weren't there
(08:41):
so last Saturday. We had alot of people. We had over five
thousand people in the building ready togo. Magically had seven eight thousand for
that July thirteenth game. Whoever comesto the town is going to be blown
away, blown away, So youknow, maybe you'll show up for that
one? Is there? Do Ihave to say? You saved the date?
(09:01):
Are you already? Are you there? Like a peanuckle tournament you got
to go to or something? What'sthe date again? July thirteenth, that's
if we win this game. Yeah, I'll be there, right You sure?
I don't want to put you outthe thirteenth. Yeah that's a Saturday.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll be there all
right. I mean again, it'snot it's not one hundred center in the
stone, but that is every scenarioI've seen, that's the most likely day.
(09:22):
I have some demands, though, quickly you get no demands. You
get paid to show up, Youshow up, you do your job,
You get the out. A fewdemands quickly? Uh? Have we decided
who was voting for the Media Awardsyet? No? I know I would
like to submit myself as a potentialmedia voter. Okay, is that how
that works? I don't know.I don't know. I don't think it
is. I'll let mister Fisher know. Okay, is that what you call
(09:45):
me? You call him coach orJeff. I haven't even talked to him.
Mike talks to him. I don'tget to talk to him. Does
Mike call him mister Fisher coach?I'm sure he calls him fisher, fishman
fisher. I don't know what hecalls him in person. He called them
coach when he first started talking tohim. But yeah, neither here nor
there, my friend, we willwin it all. I would like I
(10:05):
would like to get a media votefor like the end of season words.
Now. Look, if Andrew Santillagets that vote, no problem with that.
If closer gets the vote, Iwill have some follow up questions.
Well, Anthony Carter get a vote. You're not even a broadcaster. What
are you talking about? How dareyou? Who are you? You just
you just hang out with Levick? You know what I want to do this,
(10:26):
I'm making this call here. CoachWears interview ran earlier this week.
Okay, coach Ware was on theshow. He's great. I feel like
on a Friday for usually the Firebirdtakeover. We bring back the interview because
it's a lot of nuggets about theseason, a lot of things going on.
You're not going to hear it again. Let's bring back the coach wear
interview. You've got some things you'veteased to me about the dump. I've
(10:48):
got an issue about a certain sportingevent going right now involving the dump.
So let's talk about coach ware.Let's do an extended dump. Those Friday
dumps are coming. But before allof that, I have to wish a
happy birthday to my young son,Rex, who just wrapped up free school.
Today's final day of schools today hisjob, buddy, his birthday is
Sunday. Happy Birthday. I won'tbe there, wasn't invited. My wife's
(11:09):
birthday is in April. But ouranniversary is this Sunday. I told you
I was gonna get there. LillianDavid Fine jewelers can help you remember those
memorable days, whatever they might be. Maybe for you it is the anniversary.
Maybe it's a wedding day. Maybeit's the day you got engaged,
maybe the day you started dating.I don't know how you're celebrating on holidays,
but I know the place to goto celebrate those great moments. It's
(11:30):
Lillian David Fine Jewelers. Seven yearsago, I bought my engagement ring.
Six years of marriage, celebrating thisSunday. So excit. I think we're
gonn bring back the wedding video. It's a lot of fun things and memories
can relive. My wife was watchingthat. I don't know how often she's
watched that. Like, if itwas rying it was the old tape,
it'd be like burning, right, the old vhs used to bring heat on
him. Lily David Fine Jewelers canhelp you find those gifts for Hurgan.
(11:52):
The shops that will guys. Ifyou're planning on that summer road trip,
if you're heading north, maybe goingto the track. Make it a part
of your trip north. The shopsat Wilton. It's Lillian David Fine,
Julius and we stopping. Tell meheard about Goss, the story, his
engagement, his kids, and moreon Fox Sports Radio ninety five nine and
ninety Well vac Let's do it aFirebird Takeover continues with our interview our conversation
(12:13):
with coach Damon Ware from earlier thisweek right here on the Voice of Flock
University Yeah, Fox Sports ninety fivenine and nine eighty. It's Lavac and
Guz on ninety five nine Fox SportsRadio. We are joined by the head
coach of the Albany Firebers, thegeneral manager of the Albany Firebirds, the
man the myth legend, Damon Ware, and coach. I think I finally
(12:35):
got in the bottom of what wentwrong Saturday night Godz skipped the game.
Is that there was a comfort levelthat was lost and he is fully to
blamed for us going seven to oneinstead of eight and nine. What do
you think? I think so,yes, God's light and that just didn't
cut it. See, thanks alot, guys. You know what,
(12:56):
I don't know whether to take thatas an insulter or compliment. I'm not
sure. I'll figure it out, probably later this week. But for those
who may have missed the game, and I guess that's not no, that's
not I see. I saw thejoke coming. I saw it happening.
This Orlando team, coach, it'sjust really talented both sides of the football.
It's truly one of the best rosters. And you guys have seen this
matchup a few times. This isjust a predator team that was really on
(13:20):
top of its game and had areally good performance inside MVP Arena. Yeah,
Orlando is a great football team.I knew with their roster they were
going to be tough this year.I definitely thought, uh, you know,
after we played the first couple ofgames that definitely Orlando was was the
second best team in the league. And they came and then played us hard.
(13:41):
But you know, just late inthe season right now, it's,
uh, the name of game isreally just trying to stay healthy. And
we've had one brutal schedule and playedevery game we played, it's been a
real hard fought game. And sothis was that time of year where you
know, help can catch you.And so we had our second there.
We all had you know, sometype of you know injury and lower body
(14:05):
injury, and that just kind ofhurt us. And so ended up plays
receivers at defensive backs and you knownow that we're not doing iron man,
that's not necessary and so those aretough things. And our receivers don't play
a bunch of defensive back at practice, and so you know, help cut
up with us with us a littlebit. And you know, this week's
been all about getting healthy and gettingready for Billings with only two games remaining
(14:26):
on the regular season schedule and theplayoffs just around the corner. Does it
affect any way you coach these finaltwo games of the regular season. Will
it affect the game plan at all? Not really. You know, we
obviously want to go get a winningBillings that will secure us getting a home
(14:48):
playoff game, and obviously that's themost important thing. So we're going to
coach as hard as we can toget the final victory so we can get
a home Saturday game on July thirteenth. That's obviously the most important thing to
the franchise. And from there we'lldecide, you know, what we need
to do just to stay healthy andexecute good football going down the stretch.
(15:09):
But first things first, we needto take care of Billings this weekend and
clinch a couple of things, andthen we can go from there. Coach,
there's a rumor out there that youand some guy who says next to
you on Wednesday nights have been providinga little bit of bolton board material for
the league. Potentially Steve Titus, the owner of Billings, may have told
me he's excited for the game toquote see whether or not they're just a
(15:33):
product of a week schedule. Doesthat worry you at all that these guys
have this bullet And again, Iknow when you speak, you speak from
like this is. This is exactlywhat I see. Analytically speaking, I
may be a little different. Doesit worry you that we hand out bulletin
board material without even trying? Imean, if you need bulletin board material
to beat us, then then you'renot the team I thought you were.
(15:54):
And I'm not too worried about thosethings. I'm a straight shooter and I'm
gonna say it how it is.And uh, I've said it, you
know, for weeks, and we'veplayed a very brutal schedule. We've you
know, lined up every opponent theyput in front of us, and and
you know, we knew early onwe had, you know, a very
tough schedule. After the changes,Uh, you know that occurred obviously in
(16:18):
the first couple of weeks. Wejust kept getting more and more tough teams
to play. And you know,I just, like I said, I'm
gonna keep it straight. You know, I don't care who who's offended by
it. It's not meant to beoffensive. It's just meant to be the
truth. You know, there's there'sseveral teams that are in playoff hunts that
just haven't played very many of theupper level of the league, and I
(16:40):
just think that that's a you know, it's a tough situation. So,
uh for me when we're talking about, you know, the All AFL team,
when we're talking about into the seasonawards, if you've played all the
hard teams all year, and someteams have played all of the the low
level teams of the league all year, that will skew statistics. And you
(17:03):
know, all I'm trying to dois make it fair for our guys.
I you know, I believe inthe guys that we recruited. I believed
in what they've done all year.H One loss doesn't define anything. It's
it's a tough schedule full of abunch of physical teams. But you know,
it is frustrating when you look atsome of the other records and they're
not far behind us, but they'veplayed only you know, one or two
(17:26):
games against the upper half of theleague, and I just think that that's
a that's an awkward situation. Imean, obviously, you know, you
can play in the NFL and playin a weaker conference, However you still
get more than you know, oneor two quality opponents on your schedule.
And so you know, we're nodifferent. You know, I take everything
(17:47):
that I can to use analytically andfigure out what I need to do for
our football team, and just goingthrough everybody schedule, it's you know,
it is a bit disappointing when Igo through everyone's schedules and just kind of
see, you know, their winsand losses, and it's it's a bit
frustrating because we'd love to have someof those lower level teams, you know,
come to the Capital Region or USgo to bear and and games where
(18:11):
we can know that we're going toplay our young guys and you know,
get our backup quarterbacks some work. And so we just don't want to you
know, records or statistics to beskewed due to schedule. And so I'm
gonna stand packed on that. Youknow, Uh, you know, the
league can can call and talk tome about it at any time, and
you know, I'm just going tokeep pushing for our guys and and keep
(18:33):
pushing for fairness of schedule and leagueand all those things. Ultimately, we
just want to compete for a championship. And I think we've represented the AFLUH
to the utmost respect of the leagueand professionalism, and so I'm going to
keep riding for our guys. Tothe bitter ed. Only guy who knew
there was a four point conversion thevote. My vote for Coach of the
Year Firebars head coach Dame and wherewell with that, guys right here Fox
(18:56):
Sports Radio. It was about fourand a half years ago. The Campbelt
region sports fans might remember when anotherteam, the U Albany football team,
traveled out to Montana to take onMontana State. Now, that game was
played in Bozeman, Montana. Nowfour and a half years later, you
guys are heading to Billiings, Montana, about two hours difference between the cities.
Coach, for you and your players, is this the first time everybody
(19:17):
on staff and on the roster hasever played in Montana? No, Like
I said, I was in theother other side of indoor football, and
Billings Outlaw was a really good footballteam back in the early two thousands and
up till about I want to say, maybe two thousand and eight to twenty
ten, somewhere in that range. So in my time in the other league,
(19:38):
I played in Billings several times,so just bring back some memories.
It's been a long time since theearly two thousands since I've been there.
But it's a business trip. I'mout there to you know, to see
Kevin Kostner and the Bulls running wilds. I'm there to win a football game,
so it'll be business as usual.Get to the hotel, go over
(20:00):
film, have our meetings, doall those things, and so we won't
get to see much of what thebeauty of Montana might be. We're there
to try to get a win andget back home and get ready for the
playoffs. Is there any chance thatthe lovely nineywar is gonna let you wear
your cowboy hat to Montana? Sure? You know, she finally gave me
(20:21):
the reason why she does not likethe cowboy hat. But I'll save that
for another I'll save that for ourpodcast on Wednesdays. But yeah, I
might try to sneak it out andput it on for the Montana trip.
We appreciate the Tea's there for FlockUniversity in future episodes, which, by
the way, quick Plug we'll replaceSaturday mornings on Fox Sports ninety five,
(20:41):
nine to nine eighty. If youmissed it this past week, it airs
on nine o'clock Saturday mornings. Coachyou mentioned this team and everything that goes
in with a road trip and everything. What makes this team so strong?
We're talking about Billiings that they've beena contender all season. Is it a
mix of offense? Is it astrong defense? What is made this team
one of the best teams in theANFL in twenty twenty four And they got
(21:03):
a good coaching staff, so veryexperienced coaches, and they've got a quality
roster. I mean, it's ait's a good football team across the board.
They do everything well offense, defenseand special teams, and so we're
definitely not taking them lightly. Youknow, if they if they use what
I say as both more material,Hey, we're gonna match intensity with you
when we get up there, andlet's you know, make the best team
(21:26):
win. He is a coach whereand I know you're getting ready to get
everything together to head out tomorrow. Two Billings appreciate you taking some time with
us as per usual and coach Manjust go kick them, but we really
appreciate everything, all the effort youand the guys are putting in absolutely,
we just want to make sure weget a home playoff game so we can
(21:49):
you know, have one more Saturdaynight with our fans and on July thirteenth.
So that's an important factor for us. And we're going to go out
and give everything that we got andhopefully I'm back with a victory and if
God's back on the broadcast. That'sthe big about the home brought what I
mean, you didn't show up,you know, so thank you, coach,
appreciate you. All Right, guys, we'll talk to you on the
(22:14):
voice of the Capitol Regions Sports FanFox Sports ninety five, nine and nine.
All Right, you can't believe we'realready We're already tit the dip the
dump. By the way, uhI got this. It was this time
yesterday that I started getting messages likeI like how you were able to put
everything away by now. I waslike, well, you know, once
I got my message across, youknow, to guys about what a terrible
(22:36):
friend he is, I didn't feelthe need to keep bringing it back.
So but since those people probably listennow, like you know, hey,
you guys know I'm a true professional. Now let's take a big dump Fridday.
Dumps hit different, don't they. That's why I told you I was
gonna be here like earlier today. That's why I went home for one in
real life. There's a little toolittle TMI for you, all right,
(23:00):
little number two TMI. Would youlike to go first? I do want
to go first. I know you'reexcited about it, but I'm jumping the
gun. Hey, I'm confused bythis. I want to get better at
this. I don't know why Idon't follow this more. Why am I
not more into the College Baseball WorldSeries? Like? Why am I not
more into this? Because college baseballis super exciting. You've got some big
(23:22):
time players, You've got teams andcolleges people are familiar with it seems more
and more because the Major League BaseballDraft is shrunk, So like, if
you get an impact player in theCollege World Series, they're more than likely
going to get to the next level. It's exciting, it's fun, it's
entertaining. I don't know why I'mnot more into it now. The finals
this year will feature Tennessee and TexasA and M, which I could do
(23:45):
a whole theory about. This isthe effect of nil look Tennessee and Texas
A and M have invested in notjust football players but other programs. Tennessee's
basketball has gotten better. A andM hired a coach and that he goes
Buzz Williams like these schools clearly careabout sports that have invested in their sea
the payoff. I couldn't name oneplayer on either roster. I couldn't.
I don't know what it is,Levak, like, do you think college
(24:07):
baseball at some point will break through? Is it because it's on the four
letter network they can't stand alone? Is it because there's so much roster turn?
I don't know why I can't getmore into the College World Series.
I don't think it's your fault.I don't think this is your fault.
I think this is college baseball's fault. Because when's the last time you saw
college baseball? Do any marketing?Like college football is everywhere? You can't
(24:30):
like everyone has to comment on it, every the video game all that stuff,
and like, I know there's neverbeen a college baseball video game,
but maybe that maybe there should havebeen, Like there's there's no marketing for
college baseball, the College Baseball WorldSeries, any of it. There's none.
If we didn't talk to you knowBam Bam or or you know Sienna's
coaches or any of that stuff,I wouldn't even know college baseball is going
(24:53):
on. Plus this area we startlater than a lot of places because because
of the weather. But like Ithink, I think it's I think it's
college baseball. College baseball needs tograb our attention. I wonder if it
is a regional thing. That's that'sthe point I always lean on a little
bit. Like I remember, rememberJosh Booty who used to be on the
(25:14):
show occasionally. He was a twosports standout at LSU. He did some
stuff with the Believed Network. Rememberone time we asked him about LSU,
what do you think about the seasoncoming up? And he said baseball or
football? Like any times that butlike it jumped out to because it was
so popular. So I wonder ifit's a regional thing. Because my take
I just had about college baseball herein Albany, New York. I wonder
(25:36):
if somebody in Knoxville, Tennessee, has that team exactly, but has that
same conversation about college basketball in Marchif their team's knocked out, you know,
like, is it a original thingwhere it's like, I haven't heard
anything about college basketball because some wouldsay college basketball has become regional because at
times the Big East was popular Yukon'swill in the last two national championships,
(25:59):
but I think the AC has madethat a little bit more of a national
sport. So maybe that is theanswer. Hey, you live in Upstate
New York. The team you listedoff there, Tennessee and Texas, A
and M and Florida, they're justbetter at this than you. So there's
a reason why if you ask thesports fan in Georgia or Mississippi or Florida
how pumped they are, they probablylove it. You ask the fan in
Omaha, Nebraska, they probably Somaybe that's the easy answer. May it's
(26:22):
the right answer. It's just theregional thing. I heard it. Hear
the term bandwidth all the time, and I hear that term more and more
as they get older. Like youonly have time for a certain amount of
things. If you can cram collegebaseball in, that's amazing. Well,
also, like you know what, think about it like this, we always
pay attention to the valley Cats. You put you actually pay attention to the
(26:44):
Syracuse Mets, like baseball and footballvery different. Like the the NFL Draft
is the best college football players,it's this is that major league baseball.
We barely talk about the draft unlessIan Anderson or somebody's in it. And
half of the guys go right fromhigh school to minor leagues. So you
know, you're not always getting thebest of the best at college baseball too,
(27:06):
Like it's it's just I think it'sjust a different animal. And yeah,
you gotta have a certain amount ofband withd for it. But again,
at the same time, market it. Like I think baseball's overall problem
is they don't market individuals like theyused to. They like, we,
uh, Rocker, we knew abouthim, Like they they made a point
to point him out to us,like this guy special, and then you
(27:29):
know, all hell breaks loose andhe ends up you know, the Valley
Cats. But like they they madea point to tell us that guy was
great. Let's do that more often. There's a player for the Florida Gators.
His name is Jack. And thisis the point I'm trying to make.
Jack Cagliano, so I should knowthat quickly. His last name was
Mihoff. I should know his nameoff the top of my head because he
(27:52):
had a stretch where he went ninestraight games with a home run. He
was going for the home run record. He was smashing dingers. Here we
go, kid from Florida with aunique name. His name's not even Jack,
it's something else. He's a lefthanded pitcher who can hit and play
first base. He's gonna be atop five pick in the Giraffe he smashing
home runs. I should know hisname as quick as possible. Is it
(28:14):
Cogliano? Is Calliglieriro? What ishis I know it's Jack. I know
he plays for Florida. I shouldknow that, right. Why was he
like? I'm not saying to makeevery college athlete Caitlin Clark. We don't
have to go that far. Butokay, you know what, I feel
better about it now. You thinkit's marketing, it's about promotion, and
maybe if they got on Fox orCBS, ESPN promotes everybody else. Maybe
they just don't want to promote collegebaseball when they're carrying the finals and they
(28:37):
can talk about Lebron twenty four toseven. Yeah, it's definitely a thing
I do. I feel like asthe as we can see you on with
the Friday edition of the damp.A wrong was righted. I call the
Kurt in the world to our vendingmachine people. I filled out their little
(28:59):
form. They said it could takeweeks, they were gonna mail it whatever.
Now the dude came in today, went up to the front desk,
goes to ghost, to junior. He's like, do you know a Jeff
full of leave v leave a goodJeff levack. Yeah, the back of
guys. He's like, oh cool, and here's this five bucks. And
then uh, Doug, Oh yeah, Doug, do you go, oh
(29:19):
cool, here's his money. Iguess Doug had a similar situation about three
dollars and fifty cents, right,so all day that think eight fifty on
us yesterday. But they gave itback to us already, So thank you.
I really wanted a little bag ofchips and Arnie Palmer yesterday. But
whatever, you know, that's okay. Everything has been rectified. Yes,
(29:41):
thank you to the people. Ithought you were never getting that money back.
Now I knew i'd get it back. I listen, I'll go to
I'll go to the mattresses over fivebucks. I don't, I just I
can't. I don't know what itis. Maybe it's my Scottish blood.
I don't know. I just likethose kind of things. I won't let
go. Not only did you getit back, you got it back any
timely fashion. And the person whogave you the money recognized to you from
(30:02):
the show. That's a that's atriple win right there for you on a
Friday. It's not a bad thing, you know. I'm uh. I'd
rather, you know, I'd ratherbe known by like you know, like
like boat dealerships and stuff than vendingmachine repair guys. But but I'll take.
I'll take what I can I'll takewhat i can get. I'll take
the notoriety, you know. TheShow of the working Man, Voice of
(30:26):
the Capitol Rage sports Fan, FoxSports D nine eighty gots. That's what
we are, work fan. Thevoice continues to change, it's broad voices.
It's a big area. We coverit between the nine eighty am,
which is a very big signal. And listen, I'm a little sick and
tired of here and that I don'thave a big signal. Okay, big
(30:47):
big potatoes make this take look smaller. I heard it twice today. I'm
like, guys, I get tohear you out loud. I can hear
your things you're saying to us.You know it's twenty twenty four. We
have an app in a podcast buthas a very good yes is tiny like
as far as like station signals go, I can I can hear the loud
(31:07):
speaker at the local mobile cover alittle more distance than ninety five nine,
but nine eighty is a good signal. And then as you mentioned, we're
on the We're on iHeart, Spotify, Apple, Peaches, pumpkin Pie,
We're on all the stuff. Sowe appreciate that. But one final thing
for today's Today's UM. I youknow, my my day job, team
president of the Aumni Firebirds. Iwill say that I have the toughest team.
(31:33):
They're going through some injuries, butthey're out there there they should be.
I think they just may have justlanded in Billings like right now.
But my my front office staff, how about my front office staff? This
week? Right game day ops?Nick in turn Sam both go toe to
toe and the Huge Blue Challenge onWednesday, trying to eat a five pound
(31:57):
cal zone each can hear out of? That? Went on nine o'clock tomorrow
on your Home for the flock Universitycoaches show Fox Sport ninety five, nine
and nine eighty's and it's where andlike you just a lot of the reaction,
we'll tell you, Like there's partswhere I'm speechless, there's parts where
Damon ware Is is shocked. Butit turns out it's good that those two
did that, because yesterday at Aliveat five, all hell broke Loues like
(32:22):
some kind of nasty like I guess, I don't know. I think my
brother called it a water spout orsomething like that, mini bursts, but
I've heard many bursts what they're callingit. So like everybody's set up for
the show, everybody's got pop uptents, the whole nine and just wind
rain, everything goes crazy. Iget a call from Game Day Nick and
(32:45):
I can't hear him right whatever, and he hangs up, and we were
we were still finishing the show.It was a very end of the show,
so that was in the commercials. Then I get, you know,
Benny Ice tries to call me whatever. I finally get a hold of Nick.
He sends me a video of justpure bedlam. Like everybody's tents are
destroyed. There's like people are justkind of like walking around it looks it
(33:08):
looks not like a bomb went offbecause of the fact that, like there's
no scorch or anything like that. But you, if you had told me,
like a tornado touchdown real quick,I would believe you. I would
have really believed you. It wasthat bad. So Nick, game day
aps. Nick calls me, well, fac I'm really sorry I lost the
tent. I'm like what, yeah, I tried to hold onto it,
(33:29):
but it took me a good tenfeet. Like so now now game day
Nick is Mary Poppying Poppins flying arounddowntown the Port of All, but he
trying to save a tent. I'mlike, dude, are you okay?
So some of the my director ofgame apps flies through the air like he's
hang gliding to save the tents ironman man Like, I'm like, I
(33:52):
don't care about Is everybody okay?He goes we have we're we're not sure
where Samon is yet, and likeI'm laughing a Sam Bezola. Sam interned
Sam again. These two just didthe huge lou. I'm like, good
thing you were two three pounds heavier. Who knows how far you would have
went. He's now gone around andtried to find all the stuff that's been
missing from us already. These guysare more worried about the equipment. Here's
(34:15):
Spike, the mascot, so gameDay Nick has flown at least ten feet
through the air. Spike is stuckbetween a bike rack and a table.
Oh my gosh, so I gota flightless bird and a flying game day.
Ops. Guy, I no injuriesfor our guys, thank god,
you know. But and every singleone of them. Hey, sorry I
lost this, Hey sorry this.I'm like, guys, I don't give
(34:37):
a rats but tuty about any ofthe crap that got lost or isn't lost
or whatever. Are you guys allokay? Cause it was? It was
it, man, I guys,I wish I wish I had been able
to see it. I almost likeI'm starting, I'm stopping just short of
(34:57):
I wish I had been there.I mean, I don't I don't think
it could have blown me around.I'm I'm I'm like, I'm three people.
But it is one. It isone of those things like because we
had some things happened with iHeart toothere at the event that everybody was down
there. Yeah, like when youhear it because you your first gig was
live on location remote promo team.My first gig was promo team, Live
(35:19):
on location. So when someone describeswhat had happened, I think you and
I went to like, oh,I've been in this situation before, this
can't be that bad. Then youget the videos. Yeah, then you
see people getting injured what happened? And I know local news here g HY
and local news stations were asking forvideos to be like whoa, whoa,
Like let's make sure everybody's okay beforewe start sharing stuff on social before we
(35:39):
start posting, because people really gothurt. I'm glad to hear that everybody
for the Firebirds is safe. Andthat's where really came up. But it
was a I was blown away isnot the right term there to yes,
but I was very surprised by whathad happened at that event yesterday. I
couldn't I mean again, because we'resitting here and it's and you heard the
rumblings, and by the time Igot home, I want to say,
(36:01):
it was like I don't know, like six twenty or whatever. We got
hit with a couple quick storms butnothing nothing nasty, nothing serious. But
that was and so if anybody didget hurt I hope you're okay, but
you know we're just I mean, every one of the bosses is just looking
at Nick like Nick, shut up, stop apologizing. We appreciate you,
(36:23):
We appreciate that you care about thisstuff. But I can go get a
new tent frame. You know, not a lot of people will do nixt
job or what we pay him.You know, I can't. I don't
want to get a new budget longas he and Lego Boy are fine.
Lego boys fine. Spike is okay, Spike. Spike lost some feathers in
the form of gloves, but theywere able to find him. Lego Boy
(36:45):
found him. It was I mean, insanity. So if anybody was down
there, I hope you're okay. And if you know where I can find
a nice ten frame, let meknow. Good luck to the Firebirds.
A big game on the road thissekta we can just like I said about
ten or fifty minutes ago, onemore time. Happy interversary, my wonderful
wife. On Sunday, Happy birthday, and my son erects. June twenty
(37:06):
third is special day. We'll havea very good weekend. See everybody at
the make a wish walk or wisheson Sunday morning. Because I wasn't invited
any birthday parties, I have plentyof time to help help out with that
event with some of the fiber flames. Spike Nick, everybody there, we
won't have a tent, just serybodyknows. Don't look for our tent.
Where's your tent? We don't know. We really don't know. Some Nick
