(00:04):
It's Lovak and Gaze on the voiceof the Capitol Regions sports fan Fox Sports
ninety five, nine and nine eighty. You watched that untold Untold on Netflix.
That's one of those the series wherethey do like the sports scandals.

(00:24):
Right. Yes, new episode comingup called Sign Steeler. It's the Connor
Stallions story. Come on, Comeon, So Stallion's will for the first
time reveal his side of the Michigan'salleged sign stealing scheme that turn him into

(00:45):
a quote viral villain. Get thatmoney, counter Stallions August thirty money.
That's timing is pretty perfect too. When does the season start? I believe
week one is August thirtieth. Weekheero is the week before. But that
nana na wait till he gets hismoney. How much do you think Netflix

(01:06):
really paid him to do that.I'll throw a number at you million flat.
I just think a couple of hundredgrand, Okay. Well, because
you think about there's two ways tolook at it too, Yes, there's
value to the story. You knowwhat, male might be good just because
the reason I would take less isyou're giving me a chance to tell my

(01:30):
side of it. Finally, becausea lot of people are never gonna hear
his side of it if he doesn'tdo this, and there's a chance that
if it's done just right, hewill be able to uh, you know,
kind of the turn the spin.So maybe people believe in him a
little bit. So he was thelead individual who reportedly let a network of

(01:51):
people who bought tickets to Big Tengames to get intel by recording the opposing
teams sideline signals in person, andwhich has been do you know how long?
Here's the beauty of this. Ilove the way this all comes out
because as a Michigan fan, obviouslyI'm like, oh, this sucks,
this is embarrassing. But like OhioState, Penn State Ruckers, everybody,

(02:14):
Oh yeah, everybody knows you can'tdo that. Nobody knew that was a
rule. Do you know when therule got put in place in the Big
Ten? After this? No?Ninety four, So it's not like he's
been around forever. Basically what happenedwas back in the nineties early nineties,
a couple of dudes get done watchingTwister or or Bruce Lee Roy breaking six,

(02:38):
you know, and they go,you know, what's not fair?
Michigan, Penn State, Michigan allthese schools have so much money they can
send an army of scouts ahead andjust sit and watch and tape everything.
Meanwhile, you know, Sarrahcuse ispoor. They've got no money at all
because they're not that good. Andsorry, hey, I just want to

(03:00):
make sure you're listening. But no, like the smaller schools like a Rockers
or whatever, they don't have themoney to send scouts to all these different
games. They can't do that.Just not fair, So doesn't make it
fair. Nobody's allowed to do that. Nobody's allowed to scout ahead. Nobody's
allowed to go to the games. You can watch film, you do all
that stuff, but you can't sendpeople to the games ahead and scout everyone.

(03:22):
All right, that's great. Doyou think everybody really stopped? I
know, do you think that ConnorStallions might have been a little over zealous?
It is in the way he didit. I think, yeah,
one hundred percent he break the rules. Oh yeah, he definitely did.
But you know, this is alwaysso fun of this conversation knowing everybody's oh,
that's a rule forever. You shouldknow, you can't do that whatever.

(03:44):
What Also, the ones who gomy school will never do that.
Well, there's reports Rutgers, OhioState, Penn State, I believe it
was Illinois, maybe Purdue as well, all actually shared whatever film they had
on Michigan. They all there wasproof of it. They were like,
you know, hey, here's whatwe got from Michigan when they played us.
Oh cool, now I have theirsigns. Like it's everybody was doing

(04:09):
something of this variety. But becauseConnor Stallions was so so brazen that he's
on the sideline for like Central Michiganwith a Central Michigan hat on, you
know, at a game against PennState or whatever like that, also is
like, this guy's the most evildude alive. You bring in like naval
intelligence, what do you think isgonna happen? He's gonna find a way

(04:30):
to scout and cheat when it comesto signs stealing. Okay, okay,
So I think there needs to bea very distinct line we're on here.
There's a massive difference for me betweenBelichick and Spygate versus Connor Stallions versus trash
Can and the Astros. To me, there's three different things. Although some

(04:54):
people would hear that and be like, as they're all the same people,
stole science to get an advantage ina competition. They're all the same for
me, they're three totally different things. Okay, let's do the Astros first.
That's the worst one, absolutely theworst one. The reason the Astros
is the worst one when it comesto sign stealing is because they audibly audio
wise and enhanced the competition where you'rebanging on the trash can, so while

(05:15):
the actual competition is commencing, youare making sure that you're signaling something to
a teammate of not only are wecheating, but during the actual play,
in the course of the game,we are going to affect the outcome by
letting you know what's about to happen. Well, it's the hardest and not
just like like with the other two. Okay, I have an idea based

(05:36):
on your formation and your sign whatyou're gonna do. With the Astros,
it's off speed, fastball down themiddle, like they told you what it
was gonna be, because they sawthe sign and they delivered it instantly.
Yes, oh yeah, that wasthat was That was worse. That's the
worst of them. That is thehigh level of cheating, maybe the worst

(05:57):
if you include an Apple Watch likethe Red Sox. But still, you
know, I get no, youknow what the the red Sox are in
this. I don't know who would. I want to say, it's PFT
from Barstool. I'm gonna give himcredit because I love this take. Once
you start using machines to cheat, you should stop yourself. Once an actual
robot or a non human being isstarting to be used to gain an advantage
of something, maybe you've gone toofar to cheat. So somebody was just

(06:17):
watching TV, like I don't knowthe YES Network, It's okay. Uh,
that's allegedly allegedly allegedly. I remembermy business my business teacher my twelfth
grade year. His name was misterPelcher, and mister Pelcher didn't realize at
that point in the year two thousandand eight that kids had calculators on their
cell phones. So yeah, goahead, like, if you need help,

(06:38):
you can use it. But theydidn't realize that they also were sending
a mass text to each other ofwhat the answers were in the twelfth So
when you're going to that level ofcheating, you probably so they're in one
category. So I'll use another teacherreference here. I had a teacher.
Her name was Oh god doesn't work. But I don't remember her name,
a Miss Lions, miss Lines washer name, and she said, when
you watch a good movie a lotof movie talk today, When you watch

(07:00):
a good movie, everything in thisscene should mean something. What's the background?
Why is the tree set up thisway? Why is the actor standing
in here? My dad's gonna lovethis because he's like Tommy boy. It's
true as an extra now background actor, this is absolutely true. The great
directors have Everything means something on thefilm. Everything in a shot means something.
So that's why I look at whathappened involving Spygate, and I look

(07:24):
at what happened involving Connor Stallions thatif you're flashing signals and you've got a
camera focused on their sidelines and they'reholding up a big square, or they're
going like this, like hey,ten fingers in the air means they're going
zone. Okay, Well you're doingthat in a place, in a public
form where I can see ten fingersin the air. Hey, they did

(07:44):
that one hundred percent of the timethey ran zone. You guys did that?
Connor Stallions to what I figured out, and I can't wait to watch
this just seems like a brilliant humanbeing who by himself figured out a code,
cracked the code, and had anadvantage. It'd be like a good
quarterback. I don't think he's closeto this. I think he's just a

(08:05):
quarterback. The reason he's wrong andI'm with you because because there is like
with spygate, if you please, don't don't at me. I don't,
I don't care what you what? You what you convinced yourself. You focus
the camera on the sideline during practice, you watch what they're doing, and
you're able to figure out what they'regonna do in the game. Okay,
that's practice. It's a private thingthat you you make. You may not

(08:26):
run the plays. It might stuffmight change, doesn't make. It's also
private. You shouldn't even have accessto it. The reason Connorstown is wrong
is there's legitimately a rule that saysyou can't scout ahead. You can't go
buy tickets to the game and godo that. Now. I mean I
think that there's Listen, I thinkthat there's a really good chance that somebody

(08:50):
from Ohio State has bought a ticketto a Michigan game and maybe just maybe
took notes. I think yeah, camera out whatever. Great play by Braxton
Miller. How did he do that? Where do he line up? Huh?
Right? And I think the problemwith Connor Stallions is he had a
network where he said where everybody wasgoing every single game, like they were

(09:13):
every if you were gonna play Michiganthe next two to three years, he
had people at your game and theother coaches knew about it. Like one
of the quotes is from like abig ten coach who said who literally said
he cornered Connor Stallings and says,I know the s you're doing and you
know and I'm gonna get you orsomething like that. So like if if

(09:33):
if you told me he didn't knowthat rule, okay, well then why
are you on the sideline where towhere the central Michigan Like you know what
I mean? Why aren't you justin the stands going I see it?
It's this guys, rune it downlike you know, you you knew there
was a rule, you knew youwere breaking it. That's why you're wrong.
It's a weird rule because again, now everybody's got money, like you

(09:54):
said, it's public. Everybody saidthere there's a reason you know when you
when you watch Oregon football. There'sthere's like six different people holding up different
cars. Donald duck On in sixdifferent places, and you know, Porky
pigs on one. There's a reasonthey're all different. They're convinced you're stealing
their sides. But it's he did. He broke He broke the rules,
one hundred percent did. The onlyreason I don't like feel bad about it

(10:18):
is we literally found out the exactsame year they were breaking it too.
Everybody else in the big time wasbreaking too. They're just they were just
like, hey, listen, itsays we're not supposed to buy tickets,
so could you watch for us?Sure, and then you'll watch for us.
Yeah, and then we'll take turns. We'll share our information because everybody
hates Michigan. Okay cool. Onestreaming podcast called Non Traditional Media starting to

(10:39):
take off, and people who haveeither been convicted of crimes had a bad
story break about them. I dolove and I hopefully this will continue for
the future, that outlets are nowout there like these situations, like podcasts,
like videos of Okay, that's thestory you heard in the news,
Here's what really happened. I thoughtthe tale stuff was fantastic. A lot

(11:00):
of these untolds have been really good. If there's a critique of the two,
the Untold series, the two wouldbe not always for sports fans,
like it is more big picture someof the sports stuff they get wrong with.
They're trying to capture a big audience, So we get it. We're
not always well use a radioch I'mnot always the p ones on these.
It's a broader audience they're trying tocapture. And Two, it seems like
a lot of times the person whois the center of the project, whether

(11:22):
it be Johnny Football's, Teo's there'sa bunch of others out there, at
times it seems a little too biasedtowards that person. Yeah, but that
person is also sharing their truth. So it's like, hey, I'm creating
a story, a documentary. Thisis what they told me. It's hopefully
the truth. It's their words. We got to take them for what they're
saying. So sometimes these do becomevery one sided. Well it happened to

(11:45):
us too though, Like I Iyou know, I openly admitted all the
time I never thought I would bea fan of Pete Rose until we sat
down and talked to them. Whenyou talk to somebody and they're they're vulnerable,
and they're telling you the truth,or at least you know you believe
they are, it's hard not tolike feel for them. Daring is right
at the like, Wow, Ifeel like people got you wrong? Why

(12:07):
do people say those mean things aboutyou? What is happened by people?
I mean me fifteen minutes before Italk to you? How dare I what's
wrong with me? I don't know? Man, it is gonna be interesting
to see. I want to answerthat cause you mentioned Pete Rose's example.
You've talked to two other people insports who have a just The two that
jump out to me are Lenny Dykstraand Jim Larrence. You've talked to those

(12:30):
guys. Le Rich I would stillsomewhat there was a point where I would
have called him actually a friend. He's kind of vanished. He doesn't he
doesn't really There was a point whereI would call him He's like, well
that what's up? You know?Like, but that's not the case anymore.
He's a different dude. He's anarrogant dude. Like I'm I'm not
gonna pretend to I mean, hisnickname is the King. I was gonna

(12:50):
say the King right himself and Iregard but he was. He was very
good to me and my co hostat the time. So I do have
a Sawt spot and as a Yankeefan, the memories that he provided me,
those are gigantic. I'll never forgetthat Dykstra. I enjoyed the conversation,
but not the person. All right, Ooh, I was gonna say,

(13:13):
let me reframe my question, butmaybe you just answered it. Your
attitude about those guys did change forthe Arts, but didn't change for Dyster.
I didn't even think. I thoughtDystra had nothing to offer me.
I didn't even think I wanted totalk to him, but he did.
He did have a very open conversationwith us. But at the end you
could just kind of tell he wasn'tcompletely open, like he was open,

(13:35):
but he was like he was thereand he would answer any question you had,
but you could tell he was holdingback to a degree. And the
more I've learned about him, themore it's just like that guy. He
probably just needs help more than anything, whether it be substance abuse or something.
But like Pete Rose, you know, after years of it, he

(13:56):
sat down and he told us likedude, why did you do that?
You ever had a million dollars?No I did. I didn't want to
give it up, Like okay,it makes sense to me, you know.
And and Lerits you know, wenever we never talked about the really
bad stuff. But you know,I wasn't on either one of those interviews.
But I can tell you during thattime working with you, I could

(14:18):
tell you during that time I've neverto this day. Still in that two
month window, there was Chuck LadellI believe in February and Lenny Dykstra in
April. Or may been more nervousfor a live interview than those two because
I was convinced both of them weregoing to swear. More so Dykstra.
I've never been more nervous for aninterview because I wasn't on the board,

(14:39):
couldn't hit the dump button if Dykesterdecided to go off. It was live.
There was there was a I wasa tight rope, what small tight?
Yeah? Did you think he wasgonna swear? I thought there was
a chance. Oh yeah, oncehe started talking. I didn't though,
because he sounded like he was clean, like if he was, if he
would if he sounded drunken. Allyeah, I've been a little nervous Ladell

(15:00):
chuck with dell Is. I thinkat his core he's not a bad guy.
But he's been hitting the head entirelytwo eight times and you can tell.
And I think he can tell likeI don't think it's I don't think
it's talking out of school. Wehad a nice, wonderful guy named Hayden
who fought in Cage Wars this pastweekend. Hayden hopefully has a nice fighting
career ahead of him. Hayden hasofficially made it official we will never be

(15:22):
taking fighters live ever again. Ohyeah, Hayden spoke, well until a
certain word he said, Oh heon, here you did? Did you
dump it? No? But itwasn't It wasn't one that would get us
thrown off there. Let's put itlike this. Let's say it was too
close to something that should have beensaid that that will never happen again.
I told you how many times haveI said we're not taking fighters live?
We're not taking fighters live? Thatwas the who is the U albany Malchai?

(15:48):
I think his name was right,Who are you thinking? The defensive
defensive lineman? Oh my gosh, yeah, we're the number seven or not.
It's Malachi Jones. I know whatyou're talking about. Yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah. He swore whilewe were while we were talking to
him live and guys, you changedyou cheat white, you were white as
a ghost. And I'm just coolgoing along whatever because I had the dumb

(16:11):
button, so I dumped it.It never went over the air, and
and but I was like, youknow, a conversation was good at that
point, and that was the reasonthat I didn't say anything about it,
like, hey, don't do that. Whatever is that was the like right
before that was when he finally likeloosened up and started talking to us.
So you gotta find that right, that right part. But to loose Yeah,
nah, it was fine because that'swhat the dump buttons for. They

(16:33):
got him in here right there isthis one work. I just tried it.
Did you do it? Yeah?Check us see if it worked.
I did you let us know, you say our stream audience and hear that
though, but radio audience. Sothat'll be fine. Everything's fine, Everything

bucks off on Prime Day. Yougotta try these on. I oh those
things, well, I've had noisecanceling before everything goes away, Like if

(23:36):
the I bought these for planes, mostly insane, Like literally, if you
want to, if you want tocome here and put these on, you'll
see the difference. It blow yourmind. I'll wait till the end of
the show. I feel like onthe left part of that headphone, is
there a bluetooth feature? Yeah? Those might be similar headphones that I use
mowing my lawn. Well, nowthey're thinking about that, like, do

(23:59):
I have a better headphones mowing mylaw than I actually do for my actual
job? These ones there is awire you can connect them. Oh no,
those definitely, aren't it. Thoseare way better than mine. Yeah,
there's Well here's the thing. SoI bought these also because I did
break my studio monitors, my mySony's I've had forever, which went for
twenty plus years. Yeah, soI bought these. I was like,
you know what, I'll get thebetter chord. I'll use these. My

(24:22):
daughter goes, you just have theones you gave me. Oh, like,
what are you talking about? Shegoes, A couple of years ago,
I said I wanted good headphones listento. I was listening to record
players all the time. I go, yeah, She goes, so you
bought me those the Sony's like youwear. I'm like, no, I
didn't. It was one hundred andfifty bucks. She goes, you did
that? I said, I didnot. She brings my mo. I'm

(24:42):
like, so I totally bought those. So she's like, I don't use
them, you want them. I'mgonna get those. So I got this
for the gym and for travel, but the noise canceling is insane. And
then I've got the my you know, my new Sony's I'll start wearing.
You're that sales team leave acts didthat on his zone. You would think

will get to the college football story. I also, I think we left
some meat on the bone there aboutthe untold stories. We will get to
all those things coming up here beforethe dump. But go ahead, all

(25:23):
right, So I gotta put anew boiler in. It's cheaper to put
so if you're going to replace youryour AC unit, you want to do
it. You know springish, youdon want to do it. You know
a fall when when nobody else islooking for AC units. If you want
to replace a heater, you wantto do it the summer. So I
gotta replace my boiler. So Ineed to replace it. It's gonna be
expensive. Boilers are not cheap. It's plumbing. It's this that the other

(25:45):
thing. So I just throw offon Facebook. I'm like, hey,
need a new boiler? Want todo it sooner or later? Any recommendations?
What of our salespeople recommends a company. I'm like, wouldn't that be
a great endorsement for me? Wouldn'tthat be because if they do a great
job, I'll talk about it allthe time. Didn't think why I said,

(26:08):
Hey, you should call this guy. He's really good. You know
what. I wonder I might callhim. But if if I talk about
him, maybe more people will call. The thing is like I think he
tried being a friend. What youdid? You also wanted to help him,
Like, hey, man, wecan this can be a tag team
situation. We both can make moneyon this potential and they can make more
that I don't care. I don'teven care about me, Like, I

(26:30):
just want to make sure my myhouse doesn't freeze in the winter. It's
an old house, but that's justcalled Yeah this comye is funny. There's
people like everybody like you probably listeningto this right now, going like what
do I care? Like, well, look at the bad guys trying to
make money off stuff. Yeah whatever. I just it's like it's like,
whatever your job is, there's thatone person who's like always just a little

(26:53):
off target, you know what Imean. Like maybe you run an office
and you got people help you runthe office, and somebody comes. Then
for weeks she even sitting there going, man, I just wish there was
a better way to get this placeclean. And then finally, like after
weeks of saying, they come inand go, oh, my cousin runs
a building maintenance like cleaning company, like janitorial services. Wait what why didn't

(27:17):
you tell me that when I washiring? Like whatever, That's what it's
like. That's basically it. It'slike posting on like a police officer's wall,
like, man, I used tosmoke drugs, do drugs all the
time, Like why didn't you tellme that? We you know I saw
this. You know, like youhave to arrest me. You're like,
now you have to. You're asales guy, you know you have to
sell. You think about it likeyour church or your firehouse is trying to

(27:37):
get word out. I wish Iknew how to get all of this.
Somebody get word out. Yeah, call us, we have the ability.
I used to cheat on your testall the time. This is so and
so well, you're still enrolled theschool, sir. So you've admitted your
crime. Now your kids are gonnaget it. Go ahead, I gotta
go back because you mentioned the untoldstories there. Yeah, you just talked
about Connor Stalings. Is there areason why you left out the other two?

(28:00):
Were you not as interested in theother show? I didn't even see
the other two yet here are theother two stories. So Connor Stanley is
the same. Wish in between thesestories that are released in August and then
in September. The one that's gonnalead off volume four is a deep dive
into the two thousand and nine murderof Steve McNair from the Tennessee Titans.
There's a great podcast out there thatcovered this a few years ago. This

(28:21):
was like, if you're in likethe true crime podcast, which I believes
the number one genre is still onpodcasts, find the McNair one. I
think it's called All the King's Men. I think it's believed some variation of
that name, and they may havedone another one, but it's really good.
So that dive into what happened withSteve McNair in two thousand and nine,
and then it ends with a focuson Hope Solo. If you don't

(28:42):
remember Hope Solo, I feel likethere's I feel like there's a lot of
fans that actually may have not rememberedwhat she did when Team USA soccer was
played and she got bench and justroasted her teammates and said, I should
be out there, I should beplaying like went full movie villain on the
United States of America and didn't care. Didn't she beat up her NFL husband.

(29:03):
Yes, there's a bunch of me. Something was a tight end,
I think Stevens. That's why Ithink. But on the lines, but
her with an open microphone, withthe lines, but her with an open
microphone, her going wild, LikeI feel like she's another example of an
athlete that if social media was morepopular during her time, she would have

(29:26):
been more of a celebrity because shealmost was out at the wrong time.
So all three of those stories Ifind really fascinating that like there was almost
this taboo thing the last few orfour or five years that what Netflix is
doing and Vice TV did this thesetaboo topics that no one ever talked about.
They're like, why don't we talkabout them? Why don't we just
do these things that no one wantsto talk about because people actually seem to

(29:48):
want to find out. So Iwant to make sure I brought that up
because I find those two fascinating onNetflix. Yeah, I hope solo so
pretty, so crazy. Yeah, because yeah, Jeremy Stevens who was tied
out I want to say the Seahawksand and maybe the Cardinals, and he

(30:11):
got arrested for domestic violence, released, and then I think she got arrested
for it. I don't know ifit was because of him or bec as
a family member she wanted to beatup a cousin or something I remember,
but yeah, she went She wentfrom like America's Sweetheart, very attractive,
she was in ESPN, the body, all that stuff, and then all
of a sudden, just off thedeep end. I want to hear her

(30:32):
side of the story and what shethinks really went down or did really go
down, because that's the hope ofthis. Like the counter stallions topic we
just touched on, maybe there's moreto that story, that untold part of
that story. Florida State, Clemson, by the way, this is what
I want talk about. We talkingabout Collegetoba. This story is not going
away. I also find it veryconvenient and funny now that the Ford Letter
Network has removed all conversations of thisstory off of their website because it involves

(30:55):
their deals potentially with the SEC andthe ACC and more Big Ten now with
our friends at Big Fox and thePeacock NBC at all those things. So
Florida State hates the ACC, Theydespise the ACC, and Florida State administrators
and fans believe the reason why ifthey were left out of the college football
Playoff with an undefeated record as aPower five conference was because of the ACC.

(31:19):
Now out loud, that sounds likethat's not as simple as what it
is, but their comeback would be. So you're telling me if we went
undefeated in the SEC or Big Tenor last season the Pac twelve, we
wouldn't have gone to the playoff. No, you probably would have. What
about the Big twelve? I meanyou probably would have Okay, so that's
the answer. You told us rightthere that if we went to underfeat in

(31:41):
any other conference not named the ACC, we would have had a chance to
leave for the national championship. Sothere's talks that Florida State wants out of
the a CC along with Clemson, but more so Florida State. Now Florida
State said all right, maybe we'llstay, but we want more revenue than
everybody else, and everyone laughed athim and said, not a chance that's
happening. You guys can't get thattill twenty thirty six. So some teams

(32:01):
look that are still trying to doconference realignment. It seems like post COVID,
like twenty twenty four. I believeall the schedules and standings update on
August first, So you want toget really confused, start loading your phone
on August first of why the thingsare the way they are. Didn't we
think this was over? Like Ithought we finally were done with conference in

(32:22):
realignment, But Florida Stateton Clemson wantto jump ship again. It's so tough
because you've got you've got a leasewith the league, right, so you're
supposed to stay the conference or whatever. But at the same time, you
can prove that they're not taking careof your needs. You could be bigger,
you could be better, they're not. It's their responsibility to build the
conference that that makes you a marqueeschool that gets you the chance to be

(32:45):
where you're supposed to be. It'syour job to be that school. So
if they're not living up to it, there feels like there should be a
way out besides paying a goad jilliondollars. We now have college football where
I can go in the transfer portalbecause I think my coach is smelly.

(33:06):
But but teams are stuck in conferencesthat are clearly dying on the vine.
I believe the way I said portalsof like if I'm anna right, like
these conferences and all these movements andportals of like if I'm anna right,
like these, I can go allthese movements and portals of like if I'm
an athlete and I want to go, I can go. If I'm a
coach, I can go, ifI want to go. Now, contracts
and agents and things are involved. There's a lot that has to happen with

(33:30):
these teams and schools. Like theidea that Stanford is going to do trips
the Rutgers and USC is going toplay in all this stuff is when it
comes to travel, is gonna beBut people wonder about the facade of student
athlete clearly gets chipped away at dayby day with nil and these type of
road trips Florida's State and Clemson,do they really think they can do it?

(33:52):
Like is it just let out aboutthe money? Like, hey,
we're football schools. We care aboutfootball. Basketball baseball is nice, but
we think for the future we're betteroff at another conference. You would think,
if they're that good or that arrogantwhatevery way we want to phrase it,
if they're going to be a topfour seed in the college football playoff,
then go do it right, Like, go be the best team in
the a CC, get a byeto the quarterfinals, and you're in every

(34:15):
single season. What is it?Maybe it's the hundreds of millions of dollars
and that's the easy answer. There'sa more other discussion. But if you
want to be a dominant force infootball, you don't want to give it
a shot at the a CC.You've both won national championships playing out of
the ACC well, and the mapis there. You've seen like Notre Dame
is an independent and they make itto the playoffs. So plus with the

(34:35):
twelve team playoff. Now it doesn'tit shouldn't be as important. It really
shouldn't. You Listen, you cantell me that, well, I would
have been I could have been atop four school if this had happened.
But if you tell me you can'tbe top twelve, okay, well now
it's on you. Like now it'son you. It can't be as simple
too, as like Okay, let'ssay if you're a Florida State or Clemson

(34:57):
administrator, wello, you guys aremissing about television and rites how much money
at the Big ten and the SECmakes off of Peacock in Fox an ESPN
that the ACC deal is nowhere closeto that because we signed like a twenty
year contract with John Skipper, soour ACC deal is nowhere close to that,
all right, I mean yeah,if it is about the television contract

(35:17):
of what you want a piece of, and that's why you're going all right,
But it feels like in the yearof twenty twenty four, are you
making the deal for twenty twenty fiveor two thousand and thirty five? Is
this really the best financial decision withthat television contract potentially or and this is
the part I should have said, that's the most important. So imagine you're

(35:37):
Oklahoma or Texas and you joined theSEC, and the reason why you join
the SEC is because you get apart of the television contract gets chopped up
and they say, oh, you'regetting one sixteenth of the deal revenue sharing.
Oh, by the way, wejust added Florida State, CLEMSONCE.
You actually lost exit the amount ofpercent of your whoa, whoa. I
didn't say we could add these guys. I'm not giving them my money.

(35:58):
So there's a lot of that oflike if you signed up to join something
and then someone else join the club, It's almost like, I guess that's
the best way to do it,right, If you join like a fraternity
or a club and you've got yourleague dues, but you get paid to
be in the club, and thenyou start shopped away. I don't want
to be in this club anymore.I was getting paid before, and I
want them in this well. Imean that's and and that is like even
at the you know, arena footballlevel, it's the conference, the conference,

(36:22):
it's the it's the league that isable to sell the league that cost
less for me as a team tobe a part of, or even pays
me to be there, because they'remaking so much money that you want to
be a part of. They've gottheir act together, they know how to
negotiate, they build a national presence, and all of a sudden, you're
there again. The AFL two pointnine million people viewed the brawl and the

(36:47):
mall. Now, I think Twitter'sup to three point seven three point eight
million that people have watched the gamein some way, shape or form,
Like that's gigantic compared to when we'rein the NAL and we were leading the
league in views. We get likeeleven thousand for our games. Nobody else

(37:07):
was touching five thousand. So youknow, you get that league that can
put it together, you get thatconference we put it together. Just helps
everybody. You know, the businessI can put together. Lillian David Fine,

I wanted these for a couple ofreasons. One, you know,
you talk about endorsements, they're theThey're the headphone that everybody got in trouble
in the NFL over because they alstartwearing the beats. But Bo's is like,

(42:28):
Yo, wait a minute, wegot a deal. You know,
like you gotta wear ours, andthen the sound system in Scarjoe. My
Silverado is bows and I've always likedBo's, but I've never have there ever
been in a position where I hada little money sets side where I could
buy some some nice, nice, just fun headphones, Like of course for
work you gotta do. It's adifferent story. I was like, with

(42:49):
the sale, I can actually affordthese. This is great. Got them,
tried them on. I like, literally, I'm like yelling for my
daughter. I'm like, bells, bells. She's like, stop screaming.
Put he's on. She was wow. I'm like, I like, sorry,
y'all. She's like, I can'teven hear you get murdered here.

(43:13):
My friend's girlfriend was like, butyou'd wear those of the gym. I'm
like, heck, can you Iwear them the gym? She goes,
no, you want to hear what'sgoing on? I'm like, have you
been to the gym? I goto. I love it, but the
people are just insane. Uh timefor the gym. Don't go first?
Yeah, I would because I teasethis a little earlier in the hour that
I was going to get to this. So I smell Liars, I smell

(43:36):
Warner Brothers this idea that they've matchedthe offer. Like for those who have
heard the story, let me recapreal quickly. Haven't heard the story.
Uh, TNT Sports may lose theNBA, And according to reports earlier this
spring and end of the summer,it was gonna be Amazon was the new
home ESPN and Peacock NBC. Soround Ball Rock with John Tesh was gonna

(43:57):
come here. Yeah, that leftteam out. Now according to Today Warner
Brothers TNT. I'm we used tocall them TNT for the sake of continuity.
Here TNT has matched Amazon's package sothey could still keep games on Turner.
I don't believe it at all.I've never heard of a business announcing

(44:19):
publicly, hey, hey we're innegotiations. Here's what we offered, and
it was the same deal as them, So we're trying, Like I just
I'm just don't believe it. Likewe're we're gonna talk probably hard knocks a
lot tomorrow, and there's already somefootage leaking about what goes on. And
I just couldn't imagine, like imaginelike Joe Shane holding a press conference,

(44:42):
Hey we just offered Saquon this isthe exact number we gave them. It
matches Philadelphia, so we think it'sover or we we come on, do
we all see this as just likethem trying to save face? Like I
don't know if anyone knows who WarnerBrothers is, Like if it's bugs or
there's a rerun? What's the showwith those witches that were always on any

(45:04):
fall asleep watching the NBA? Butwhich the charm? That's a CW Well,
I said on at one o'clock inthe morning after every West Coast basketball
can we fall asleep to? Butdefan of Charmed and Tony Kahan. I
don't believe it. I would bewell. I almost want to put a
bet on this show. It's done, so all right? What's the part
you don't believe? I don't believethat they really offered them a competitive deal

(45:30):
against Amazon, Peacock or YESPN.I believe they said we've offered them one
point eight billion dollars that's the number, but not adding any details of how
much this would cost streaming advertising rightsrevenue, what games we want. I
believe they just put out a pressrelease and let everybody know, hey,
we said we paying the same leavingout the most important details of how contracts

(45:51):
are constructed. So you don't thinkthey did offer the same amount, or
you think they offer the same amountof base money but not the same amount
of support I would I would saythe money that they offered probably matches that.
But the other businesses have offered money. Plus here's a layout of how
this is going to look like.Okay, a contray a weird example.

(46:12):
I think people understand this. Hey, we're going to offer you X amount
of dollars. We're also going togive you vacation time, four oh one
k health benefits. Yeah, youknow with stars. So like we're talking
about Bosby in the official headphone ofthe NFL. That that includes them providing
headphones to the players doing this too. So it's like they're going to pay

(46:35):
the NFL five million dollars or twentymillion or thirty one hundred million dollars,
whoever it is. And also ontop of that another ten million in product.
So it's like there's more too.And on top of that, we'll
do this. This is we'll putspeakers in certain places for you or whatever.
So you're saying Amazon comes to thetable says, yes, we'll also
give you one point eight billion dollars. However, we're going to kick in

(46:59):
another five hundred million in advertising. We're gonna pick in another three hundred million
in you know, activation, wherewe're gonna make it easier for people to
get our product, to stream yourproduct. Yeah, and the goal of
this, to me would be tomake the NBA look bad, because the
NBA would say, well, you'veoffered us one point eight. Amazon is

(47:20):
offered us one point eight. IfAmazon wants it badly enough, they're gonna
go one point nine, you know, for the sake of this and order.
It's really can you believe these greenyNo? Could NB? Well you
lost the deal, so you cansay whatever you want to the NBA.
We tried one four, We triedone ain't we know you love Charles Barkley.
We tried our best. I justfeel like this pubblic negotiation is a
ploy. Well, I think Ithink it's damage control, is what I

(47:45):
think it is. I think it'sone of those things like, hey,
what do you what do you wantfrom us? They asked her. They
well, it's like Joe Shane's beendoing. I listen, I just tell
me, tell me you're a manof your word. And you'll come back.
Can you give me a chance tomatch? Nobody knew you're not gonna
match. You don't have you don'twant to pay him. But by saying

(48:06):
that, now the fans have tolook a well, he did try to
match, They did make him anice offer a year ago, like they
did do this. It's you know, so some fans are gonna look at
it and be like, it's okay, it's Saquan's fault, or you know,
sometimes it's business not I can't believeyou didn't plumt the money for the
best product you have. It's damagecontrol, and that's what it is.

(48:27):
They believe, not only is itthe best product they have, the NBA,
and the best show might be oneof the greatest shows of all time.
Can Turner believe that they can makemore money selling NBA games or Charmed
or reruns of AEW or is televisiontraditionally still the future and this deal they're
about to sign can they actually?I forgot who asked me this question?
Tom On social media, somebody asked, It's like, Hey, I heard

(48:51):
the rumor they're gonna make seventy sixbillion dollars in a television deal. Are
they really gonna sell seventy six billiondollars worth of advertising to make it worth
their while. No, but they'rehoping that it attracts people on other things
and whatever the loss is is uhable. You're able to mitigate that through
you know, corporate loss. There'sa lot of different ways you get that

(49:12):
value out of it. It's itfeels like too much information, like our
next story. Uh, this isone of those situations where I just I
wonder why it's a headline, andthen I wonder why the person allowed us
to know what we know. Uh, Jesse James Decker, you remember her?
I do? We both met herbefore? I know, I knew
I did? You were? Iwas there? Yeah? You sure.

(49:34):
I felt like there was a chemistry. I felt like she she was just
hanging out with me. Did youget a picture with her? No?
I did? I plan to downsizeboom implants. That's a headline from what
TMC Sports. So apparently at firstI was like how, like how does

(49:55):
that story happen? Is somebody outthere going is there someone who's on the
implant beat? Like, is theresomebody whose job is like that's justin Pamela
Addison loses five hundred ccs pa brassor or do you report it, like
do you call it and go,hey, listen, I know that you
guys are very concerned about this.I'm gonna downsize. But then I found

(50:16):
out she did a Q and Asession on her social media and someone said,
are you still considering an ex plant? So apparently at some point in
her life she said she was gonnago smaller, but this has become a
headline. And she answered, andshe answered very clearly, like quote,

(50:37):
do my best here. I enjoyedthe Playboy melons while it lasted, and
they actually softened up. Now fromyou know, breastfeeding look way more natural.
No rush to have the surgery.Right now, they look pretty good,
But eventually I will want to downsize. Don't do a Jesse Jamestacker.

(50:58):
Come on, I'm just like,at what point did we decide that?
Like that's and here we are,we're reporting on it now, Fox Sports.
How you doing? It's just likewe've reached that level of intrusiveness and
and sharing where it's just like breakingnews everyone, Jesse James Decker going from
a D to a C coming uplater? Are jock straps too tight for

(51:22):
your average NFL athletes, This andmore to follow. By the way,
President Joe Biden will not seek reelection and just like real quick, just
out gotta go. We have toreport on this and the world needs to
know. Everyone needs to know.Oh man, all right, that's I
just I'm sorry. That's why. It's why I was in the dumpkin No,

(51:42):
I needed to know. We allneed to know. That's Big J
journalism right there, Big J Jd jesse J Decker, wife of former
NFL athlete Eric Decker. We've alsomet who we've also met who's not funny
but allegedly has is a tripod. All right, so it's time to time
to get here. But first Iwant to tell you about a good friends

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
