Speaker 1 (00:00):
Two opening Fox Sports nine eighty nine point nine.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Fact, it's Levac and Guzz on ninety five nine Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
You cannot send me a story like that right before
the show. I'm sorry. I should not have done that.
We won't. Like right before the show, ninety.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Seconds before the show, I didn't even read you know
what I did. I'll admit it. Jesse on Twitter, you
mentioned this earlier in the month. I didn't even read
the article. I read the headlines, I didn't read it.
So maybe we'll get to that today. Maybe we won't.
You can read that later.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
I just I just read it.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
I've got like, listen, man, I'm sorry, that's gonna make
me laugh. I came to the listen, let's do that
at three forty five. Okay, three forty five. It's ninety
three five.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
A local celebrity is making national headlines. Is that the
nice tease for that?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
It's not? Maybe too strong? Not she canna break your nose? Wow?

Speaker 4 (00:57):
You can't again, Like right before the show like that,
I was like, I'm gonna tell you how how good
of a story it is?

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Right?

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Have you ever dated someone who's flashed you right before
you to go somewhere that's what gods just did to me.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
He news flashed me right before the show started.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
It was like, it's like I had I had a
girlfriend who one time flashed me right before I went
into like like an interview.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
She's just like, Hey, everything's gonna be a right whoop.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
I'm like, wow, I don't want to go to the
interview anymore. No, I just I don't want to talk
sports at all. I want to talk about this three
forty five. All right, we will get to it.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Yes, And I was moral high ground for so long.
I feel like this I'm going long.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
We have to do on the air because I think
you leg we went this was a when you went
public with this. At some point your take on this story,
you have to a rebuttal may be on the way,
might have to Okay, that's coming up later.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
In the show.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
All right, last night, last night, everybody on the television's
heartwell also the every screen, every screen, everywhere, Hard knocks
off season. The season ends, it comes to the finale, guys,
they did they took mylik neighbors.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
What yeah, yeah, with the sixth overall pick. You're right,
I know that you called it. I'm not gonna listen.
I don't know how you got that information. Insane.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
I s burped, and I'm not even mad about it.
I'm so excited about that story. I'm just like completely distracted.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Molik Neighbors sixth overall pick. They show him what rock
and his swag, his gear, the face time.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
I liked the way they showed everything, like like I've
heard people say it was like a fluffy episode. It was,
but I felt like the fact that I saw the
thought process that went into Tyler Newban, the safety they
took in the second round, Andrew Phillips, the corner they
took in the third, Theo Johnson, the tight end.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
To beef, just side of beef.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
They got from Penn State, titan Uh Tyrone, Tracy Junior,
now I understand, like he's he's the lightning to Singletary thunder.
And then just to have the the part with the
wives was funny, like we just draft Darius Muiyasaio and
then like the one is it Table's wife Tables Wife's like,

(03:17):
I'm a lot like Joo Shan and she's stable. So
we got along great. And I'm just like and and
I you know, part of it, like it's difficult they're not.
They're not supposed to. Like how often are cameras in
their faces and they're talking, like usually the cameras in
their face because something that is going on around.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
But the way they just get they're all getting together
with the tam it's so gray.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
This is gonna sound so mean, but I feel like
this is accurate here on this because that was nice.
When I just did we need some filler. We got
what we thought we needed for the episode. We need
some filings, you know what some producer went, do you guys?
They both got attractive women. Okay, all right, let's see.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Let's put them up. Let's see.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Because I was a little like good looking women. Dabel's
you know, yeah, he works for the pudgy side. And
then you know Joe Shane, he's he's a workaholic. I
didn't I didn't expect him to have two very pretty
women who both are like very they complete each other.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
I'm sure they're wonderful people.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
I don't know them personally, but I'm sure the paycheck
doesn't hurt for either one of them. Shane and dable
for keeping that relationship healthy and strong.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah, but they've been together a while. I like the kids,
because I mean, I don't know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
I don't know what Joe Shane's paycheck was back in
Carolina when he was like a scout or whatever, when
Dable was a quarterback coach.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
They weren't lighting the world on fire when they met him,
unless they were just like, you know what, I'm sticking
my teeth into one of these football peeps to see
if it works. You gusually if they did it, like all,
there was like five of them, They're all like, all right, listen,
who's getting what?

Speaker 1 (04:57):
I'll take the tight end coach. Fine, I'm not going
to group them in.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
They seem like nice people from that episode.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Yeah, but they are out there.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
I'm talking about women who say, okay, athlete, start it
up right now, coach, all right, entertainer, rapper, musician.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
I see it around. I see it around the Firebirds.
I saw it around the Empire, and like these guys.
You know, some of these guys do well, but none
of them are like, none of them are making like
what what do we just? DJ Moore just signed a
very lucrative extension. None of my guys are gonna be
in the pan like like as good as Darius Prince's

(05:35):
It's not gonna be Dai's Prince signs four year extension
with the Obne Firebirds. You know, he's pretty much here
as long as he wants to be here. Don't get
me wrong, But you're like, the numbers are nice.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
They I believe it's Steven Jackson. This year has gone
viral because he finally shared the story from his non
wife is a fiance that said he will not get
married until she signs the prenup And they got to
the wedding day and she's ahead and sign it and
he walked off.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Ah.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Man, Mom, man, I I'm like, I just turned I
just turned it into Dunzel Washington for training day.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Mom. That's crazy.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
No, But I liked I liked seeing the thoughts that
went into to each pick why they did it. But
am I like, are you with me? The Jets and
the Colts both calling for the six pick? That was
like the biggest part of the show for me.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Yes, I loved it. I love the insight. I love
that Joe Shane waded because you and I have heard
takes about why teams.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
By the way, did you finish building the arc? Because
it is it's Noah rating out there right now.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
It has been an odd day in the Capitol region
because it's just like in and out Superstorm than Sonny,
then Superstorm than Sonny. So to that conversation with the
Colts and the Jets, you and I had heard in
the past, and I believe there's still a lot of
truth to this. That the reason why we all get
frustrated on giraft night, more so the first round than
any other round.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Come on, Carolina, Come on, you've had all sobber to
figure it out. Come on, Chicago.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Well, the reason they leave the time up is because
it's a ten minute commercial. You get talked about for
a while, get talked about, season tickets, your logos up
on a twenty million people, your fan basicals to get
talked about. The reason teams take their time is because
they turn that thing into a commercial and why rush it.
So when Giant fans saw that the Giants were taking
their time, I'm sure if we go back and remember

(07:21):
what happened four months ago, we thought, is it is
it Romaduonza, is it JJ McCarthy, is it Elik neighbors?
There is the intrig of who they're gonna take and
why that's happening, But the fact that it actually looked like,
let's see what the Jets are gonna say, let's say
what the Colts are gonna say. If they thrown unbelievably
historically ridiculous deal at us. We never want to look

(07:42):
back and say, Wow, we could have had that deal
from the deal from the Jets, right, but we were
too busy rushing for two minutes when we had four months.
We wanted to rush something in ninety seconds that could
have affected us for nine years. So I love And
by the way, if you're a Jet fan or a
Colt fan, I don't think that's any knock on the
players that were selected later on. They just did their job.
Hey we're calling, here's what our offer is. We hope

(08:04):
that you take it. You probably won.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Though, So if if the Jets had taken if the
Giants had taken the deal from the Jets and they
said it's too far back, so eleven, who were the
Jets coming up to get? Were they coming up to
get Melik neighbors? Were they coming up to get uh,
you know, bromandonsday? They were they come up to get

(08:26):
JJ McCarthy to be the next Aaron Rodgers. Were they
who were they coming up to?

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Get My guess, with that never being confirmed in the episode,
maybe I'm being too polite here. For the Jets, I
would still think they wanted the same guy. I would
still I love their peck. Yes, I think they just
said we love him so much, we don't want anyone
else to take it.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
Maybe j C.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Latham would have been the pick. Maybe we can be
bought in Forshanhu from Penn State. Maybe, but maybe they
loved Jason. I would think it was still been offensive tackle.
Maybe they love the Latham over for Shano, but they
stayed there at eleven Minnesota. We also remember Minnesota. New
York flipped at ten and eleven, so they probably said,
you know what, Shaana we wanted. Anyways, we're gonna flip this.
They're not gonna take him. We're gonna go back to eleven.

(09:13):
That that'd be my guess.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Are you not leaning the.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Same way towards that you thought it might be a
Rome you thought it might have been neighbors.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
I think it was. I think it was either it
was either the wide receiver or or or the offensive tackle.
So like like all right, the beauty of this year's draft,
where no one knew what the hell the Chargers were
gonna do. So when they went with Joe All, okay,

(09:43):
if i'm if I'm the Jets, and I really I
either want Joe All, Chase Latham Orshano, I want one
of those three. I need one of those three to
make this offense work and to keep Aaron Rodgers up right.
Once I saw him go, I might have, you know,
puckered up a little bit, got nervous, like what do
I do? Because I think we I think everybody thought

(10:04):
Tennessee was gonna go offensive line. I thought Atlanta was gonna.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Go offensive line, me too.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
I actually thought the Bears mic too, so like there
was a lot there so like and then that you know,
that kind of serves. I could make an argument for
wide receiver. I could make an off argument for offensive tackle.
The argument for offensive tackle is, we know Minnesota's not
gonna take an offensive tackle. We know they're gonna go
a quarterback. We'll move back, build a little bit whatever

(10:33):
we wanted, either Harrison Junior neighbors or or don't say
they're all off the board anyway, We'll move back.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Yeah, and that's that's the hard part about playing that
scenariout the way you went with this, and I'll win
that question, like did the Giants actually make a mistake
not taking the Jets deal because of what you just
laid out there, right, Like, let's let's play this out
one more time. The Jets, let's say, for the sake
of the conversation, took for Shanu there, Okay, he goes six,
Lengtham goes seven. I don't think Tennessee's targets would have
Chane eighth. Michael Pennix is still there for the Falcons,

(11:02):
they still would have taken them. So now you get
to nine elite neighbors and Roma Dunesey are still on
the board.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
And I probably go neighbors at that point if I'm.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Okay, so if you're Chicago and well no, wait, because yeah,
I know absolutely yeah I would.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
I would.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
And then the Giants have a donsay and they got
more picks. And then if you're a Viking fan, there
was no reason to trade up. You still take JJ
McCarthy to eleven. Now, it's far easier to do this
now rather than April, because just because they locked in
those teams at those spots. That doesn't mean a team
like your Raiders. Like if your Raiders saw Elak neighbors
and Roma Dunesey is sitting in those spots, they exactly right.

(11:37):
Seattle could have done the same thing. The Colts could
have done the same thing the Bengals. Remember T Higgins
is in that weird contract to Just because I laid
it out like that doesn't necessarily mean that's how it
would have happened. So if you're a Giant fan, I
probably would say no issues not taking the Jets still,
even though you could have gotten that to happen, because
too many variables are in play, like Joe Shane pointed out,

(11:58):
once the move starts to go back.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Yeah, I know we're talking about hard knocks. But now
I want to ask you another question. How bad do
you are you waiting? Like do you wish that the
Jets would show us what's going on in their room?
Because that I'm always super intrigued by the one spot
trade back because nine times out of ten I've now
called you as the guy who was sitting at at

(12:21):
at ten and said, hey, just so you know, uh,
Indianapolis is called they want my they want my spot
or well they don't need a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Denver just called Denver wants a spot. Do you want it?
Here's what they offered.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
I'll take it and move up, like because you know,
why would Minnesota and less Minnesota was catching win that
somebody was calling, why would they move up one spot.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Whether it's true or it's not true, the rationale you
laid out makes total sense because Denver is way too close.
Minnesota has a guy they want, They want JJ McCarthy.
If they'll do everything to keep JJ McCarthy, the Jets
leverage them out of the pick to make sure they
know they also want and they may not even know
it was McCarthy, McCarthy or Nicks, doesn't matter. Hey the

(13:08):
guy you want, Oh my gosh, you just talk. No, no,
they're gonna take himway. Would you say you broke up there?

Speaker 4 (13:12):
No?

Speaker 3 (13:12):
No, no, yeah, yeah, whoever you said, they're gonna go right,
So I would guess that is the case. I mean,
one of the most famous one pick moves is that
forty nine ers Bears move with Solomon Thomas and Mitchell
Trubisky from wayback in twenty fifteen. Oh yeah, that's the
Mahomes Watson draft where Solomon Thomas was the pick and
then Trubisky was the pick, and that whole top of

(13:34):
the draft did not work out how those teams had hoped.
John Lynch actually was a really good GM. One of
the regrets maybe of his career. He looks back. I
get what you're saying, though, it is like, what is
the benefit? Sometimes I feel like the teams who make
that this one's a little easier because of the quarterback?
What some teams who do the one pick move? Are
you just getting bored? Like are you at like we'll
do the fantasy?

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Yeah? Did you get fleeced? Is what I always wonder,
because again the Jets. The only way the Jets would.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
Take a quarterback there is if if it was McCarthy,
Because then you can tell yourself, hey, we got Rogers
for two years.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
McCarthy's two years away.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
From being what we need him to be, so we'll
be able to actually stash him and grow him the
right way. Hell, we'll make him a third stricker if
we have to. But that spot could take quarterback somebody.
So again, like I I just does Minnesota call the
Jets and go, hey, can you just do me a favor?

(14:28):
Let me know if hibudys call him for your spot,
and then if I'm the Jets, why do I owe you?
I don't owe you that like one percent? Yeah, falls
we're bringing off the hook. Well, well, who who is it?
I don't I'm not comfortable saying that. I think they're
going quarterback. Though at least three of the people will
call her, go three, can we have the spot?

Speaker 1 (14:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
I got some lucrative offers out there. Come on Jets,
like all right, fine, like like.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
This that's you know what I mean? I just yes,
it could be. That's Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
In my head, Minnesota will always be the team that
just didn't get their card in on time, like forever
and always.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Gosh, remember that draft that was so much fun.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
No, I don't remember. I was brought it up, stinky.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
That's a long time ago though. That's like I think
there's people listen, don't remember twenty years ago? Oh four,
maybe it might have been.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
I'm like, I don't remember the year. I just remember
it happened. I remember Chris Burman losing his mind. Yeah,
oh it was great. It was great.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
So all in all, off season hard knocks love it
week away from Tuesday now now now the real hard
knocks are regular, the one we're used to starts.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
It's just nothing but hard knocks for the rest of
the year. I saw that leading commercial that said they're
gonna take you all the way through because it's the
AFC North in season this year, the Bears before that,
so the NFC North. I do want to ask you
one question though, Yeah, because it is about hard knocks.
You texted me about ten to fifteen last night ten thirty.
Can you read that texting.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Sets the giant season? It will be fun?

Speaker 4 (15:46):
I do, I think because I think that, And again
I did just watch a propaganda film, you know, like
five weeks of propaganda. But I don't think there is
fall away as we thought they were. And it's it's
when you look at the thing we talked about this yesterday.

(16:08):
If Daniel Jones is good enough to make you a
near five hundred team, it's gonna cost you draft picks.
It's gonna and you're gonna slide. And then all of
a sudden, he's gonna have to come back or he's
gonna be terrible, and we're gonna start figuring out, you know,
is it gonna be Milton from Bama. Is he gonna
be this who's it gonna be? That's under center for

(16:29):
the Giants next year it's the Giants and and blak neighbors.
I kept waiting for him to have this like big
pop of energy, like you can tell Joe Shane and
Dabele they wanted him on the phone to be like
like hey when they called them and they're like, hey,
we're making a Giant and he's like that's so cool,
thank you. He's just he's not that guy, like he's

(16:50):
not gonna he's not gonna show you how he's feeling.
But like I kept waiting for that big pop energy.
You're gonna see it on the field. That dudes, that
dude's different on the field. They are exciting. They're going
to be a team that, hopefully Giant fans feel like,
can surprise people. And the part I love about the
Giants in twenty twenty four now is the net is gone,
the high wire act is now in full effect. This

(17:11):
is all on the quarterback play, Joe Shane, Brian da Ball.
They may look at twenty twenty five and say we've
had to give the Mayras no more excuses.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
For Daniel Jones we've good run everything. Andrew Thomas drafted
an offensive tackle. Pretty good. Evan Neil drafted him in
the first round twenty twenty two.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Not so good.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
We've given you two offensive linemen. Half have worked, but
that's not your fault. We've now taken away Saquon Barkley.
We didn't want to pay him because we feel like
you're more valuable to the team. If you're so good,
Let's find out how good you are. Oh, by the way,
we also added the top wide receiver we believe in
the class and the league. Neighbors, We've given you a
wide receiver, two offensive tackles. We've moved away the running
back spot to say this all about you, Daniel Jones. Now,

(17:53):
whether that's the right way to build a franchise, some
would say no. But there is no more excuses of
if Daniel Jones isn't good this season, they Joe Shane
and Brian Dable can walk it into the mayor's office
and say, we did everything to make this work. Let
us get our own guy now.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
I know a lot of people are still going back
to the clip.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
It's a recycled clip from earlier in the season that
they showed Brian Dable having the conversation Daniel Jones is
our guy, and he wasn't like raw raw. It was
kind of an eye rolls, not the right way. It
was just like okay, it was just like a all right,
you know, not the roaring confidence.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
But now there's no more excuses.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
This is either Daniel Jones's team or twenty twenty five
we find out what happens in that draft room with
the quarterbacks on the board again.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Time to do do or get off the pot, my friend,
that's where we're at with you, son.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
All right. I liked it.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
I hope they do off season hard knocks again next year.
I hope that people. I hope teams see how well
we regard the Giants and what they're doing based on this.
And volunteer cause like it's off season, like you're not
getting away of the players, like a volunteer for this
one and maybe you'll have to end season and everything
will be better.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
All right.

Speaker 4 (19:06):

Now back to Levak and Guz on ninety five nine
and nine eighty AM Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
There's so many things I want to talk about all
it was, get her out of there, Get out Danielle.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
Danielle our sales rep. She's awesome, she's very cool. I
thought she was going to be a nerd. I didn't
think I was gonna.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Like, is she still in the room. Now she's in
the room. I wouldn't say.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Anything nice that she yelled at me. She's yelled at me.
I was supposed to make a video for to go
to take to a client. Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
I was busy. Oh all this time I was supposed
to remind you. That might be on me. I'll blame you.
She's just sit here, give us a hard time. All right.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
First things first, Yankees just swept the Phillies. Are the
Yankees back?

Speaker 3 (25:18):
Yeah, that's a big deal. Philadelphi's the best team in
Major League Baseball?

Speaker 1 (25:21):
The records? Are they because another team just swept their asses?

Speaker 3 (25:25):
I would say yes. I would still say yes. I
feel like this is Danielle rubbing off on you after
her yelling at.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Us, and it's a work environment. We would never rub
off on each other.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
Philadelphia still has a better winning percentage than the Yankees.
Philadelphia still is in more command of their division than
New York. Even though New York and it was a
close game today, I would still take Philly over New York,
although now my impression and opinion has been altered a bit.
That is a big deal for the Yankees. I know,
I asked you going into the series. What's a far
more important series? Is that the series of the Red

(25:57):
Sox is the series, and the Mets the serious The
Phillies broken down some of these July series. Now, thinking back,
we can point the Philadelphia and say, remember when they
were tested by what we thought was the best team
in Major League Baseball?

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Or where these seasons go.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
If you want to right the ship, if you want
to play good baseball, as you said, if they're back
beating arguably the best team in baseball, that's.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
A pretty good start. Arguably the best thing you can
do is what they just did.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
By the way, for the next five outs, the Yankees
are now tied for first in the America League East.
The Orioles are five outs away from winning their game.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Jackson Holliday, Baby, we'll get to him if we want.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Right now.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Welcome back, your long haired freak. The Yankees are a
game behind the Phillies right now because they have two
in the lost column.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
So like, again, how how how are we not the
best team? Then, guys, we just we just beat your champion.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
We just did it what we could say, and this is.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Mister Cortez looked great, well good.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
The team that entered the final week of July, probably yeah,
final week of July is not the same Yankee team
that it was two weeks ago because of the trade
for Jazz, because of the additions to the roster, like
Jazz was a huge part of this guys on fire, Like,
that's not the same. Projecting what the Philly series could
have been and what it was, there's your answer, Yankee fans.

(27:24):
This guy's doing it out of the gates for the
Bronx Bombers. So were the Bestie and Basswell, I'm not
going that far. We just beat the best in baseball.

Speaker 4 (27:34):
We brought in the guy that you're give them in
all these like you give him his flowers best in baseball.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
I would still take ill. Have you noticed what's on
my head? What's on my head? A hat? Changed?

Speaker 4 (27:44):
Everything went back to the Yankee hat. I actually watched
it because it was terrible. It was not a white
and y at the at the When I first brought
it back out.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Baltimore out wild yesterday, I was gonna say Baltimore's the team.
But it's easy to do that now when they're up
six and the nine.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
Well, I just want to point out you had your chance.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
You could have run a white hot head. You coulda
taken off for the hells. Too late.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
Now I guess who's bad bad matter back again? Baltimore
got out of hand yesterday the deadline. They were a
twelve year old on m will be the Show. Would
you accept this trade?

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Yes? Would you accept this trade? Yes?

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Simulate through all trade deadline. You have eight new players
on your team. Boa, How do I turn this off?
I didn't mean to say all yet. Again I know
as an Oriel fan you've told me this before. I'm
not allowed to complain because they never did this before.
Now they're doing it. I saw Mad Dog Russo getting
right up in front of a camera and yelling and
screaming about Baltimore today. So LA's in the mix still,

(28:40):
the Dodgers, the Orioles, the Yankees. For Yankee fans that
thought the sky was falling, how bad baseball was, they're
still in the playoff picture. As you pointed out, the
standings aren't too far away. Jazz has been a boost.
Life is good again for New York Yankee fans. Not
the best in baseball, but life is good. His stop
the band aids. You want a Gospower ranking right now?

Speaker 4 (29:05):
You you said the Philadelphia Phillies are the best team
in baseball going into that series.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
No no, no, no no no no no, no no.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
You can't change it now.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Baltimore isn't gonna final yet. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
If the Dodgers played a night. If the Phillies are
the best team in baseball and a team sweeps them
and the result of the sweep is an almost identical record,
wouldn't one be forced to.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Say, to be the man, you gotta beat the man.
Whoa the Yankees are the man.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
Here's the God's power read what's the question?

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Sir?

Speaker 4 (29:47):
Permission to treat the witness is hostile, permission granted by me.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
Say it, say the word I'm the best team in baseball.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
I would say Philly is better because the record's better.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
That's what I would say.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Here's the God's Power rankings. This will make you feel better.
The Dodgers are number one. The Dodgers are number one,
the Baltimore Orioles are number two, The Phillies are three,
and the Yankees are close. They're four and the Guardians
are five. But in the Gods Power rankings last week,
I would have put the Yankees at five. The Yankees
are now four and maybe three depend how the rest of.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
The week is. I'm just so, your logic is staggering.

Speaker 6 (30:26):
What do you mean?

Speaker 1 (30:27):
What's staggering? They have a better record.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
If I got in the cave, If I got in
the cage and I knock out John Bones Jones, Am
I the greatest pound for pound fighter in the world.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
That's different? No, no, no, that's different. No now, non now none,
Now let me talk.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
That's a totally different scenario because you would just yes,
you would then be the champion.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
This is what you do. This is what you do
all last year. Jege she's the best. George's the best.
Where's mission rank? They really don't.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Why was Georgia the best? They were the reigning champs,
Michigan's raigning champs.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
They suck. Philadelphia is the best team and blah blah blah,
blah blah, Boston's really good. Blah blah blah.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Take the series from Boston, sweet the serious from Philly,
and we're still getting we don't get we don't we
don't get no respect.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
When do we? Roddy Gage phil O're here? You stop it.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
I can say a person's a champion, but not the
greatest fighter of all time. Like I could say a
team beat somebody, but then it may not be the best,
like the A's beat the A's beat the Phillies, I believe.
Earlier in this month of the two game three said,
but did their record, No?

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Did not they stink?

Speaker 4 (31:36):
Support the argument? Now does the Yankees record support my argument?
I would say it does there. However, don't come back
with your your your nonsense afterwards.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
What are your power Rankees? I give you my five
the Yankees your number one?

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Philly is number two.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
Butt you're gonna say Yankees A number two, Yankees, a
number three, the.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
The Yankee he's going into the trade deadliner number five. Okay,
let's see who else Dodgers. I'll put them somewhere in there.
Eventually Baltimore will be on the list.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
There's only five spots. See here, who else?

Speaker 4 (32:17):
You only Haveland's pretty good. All right, they're three now, yeah,
all right, No, no, it's it's it's Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers, Guardians, bald.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Seattle. I knew that was the Mets. No, no'll talk
to that, don't know. I don't miss power rankings.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
Sister and School for the Blind and not on the
list than Baltimore, Baltimore, that's not Meredith Moroccowitz by herself
better team than Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Didn't you hear about Jackson Holiday today? He is the
true underdog story.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
What happened?

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Everyone doubted him, Everyone said, look at this man, he
could barely.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Walk to the plate.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
He was called up to the Baltimoreal Major League Baseball
rosterday and hit a home run and let Baltimore do
a victory.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Did you know happened to DJ Lemayhew today? Everyone said
he should have been traded. Everyone said it was over
for him, it was done. It's behind him.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Some fat guy in Albany said the machine had broken down.

Speaker 15 (33:30):
Me.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
I did that? What do you do today? Grand SLAMI
the old grand Slammy. I thought he was old by
the way, by the way.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Just to prove how good of a team the Yankees
officially are again.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
See how judged it today? Did he hit a home run?

Speaker 4 (33:47):
Platinum sombrero? Oh gosh, struck out four times? Land him sombrero,
Yeah gosh, didn't even need him. Hey, big fellow, take
the afternoon off.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
We got this.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
Lem Mayhew is going to hit a grand saloon. There's
a lot of bad jazz. Got a hit though, he
did jazz fire.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
You know?

Speaker 4 (34:05):
Do you know that the Yankees record since the jazz
gise old Junior? Try the team four and oh undefeated.
The first number matters, not second number of zero is
what matters. It's a good time he's got.

Speaker 10 (34:20):
You know.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
They send a bunch of colorful gloves. He wears different
color gloves all the time. How he expresses himself, he's
from the Bahamas. I'm going to the Bahamas in January
in his honor. Matt's not you booked a trip far
before that. Well you're still in his honor though it
was it was. Listen, if you can reinvent history, so
can I. What do you think about history?

Speaker 3 (34:38):
What do you think George Steinbrenner would have done if
you found out different colored gloves are reading worn by
a Yankee player? Uh?

Speaker 4 (34:46):
It would really depend how he's played. Where's his hair,
where's his hairs? Is there anything below the lip?

Speaker 1 (34:52):
And just feels good. I'll get into that NFL story
coming up.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
But uh next, former local news personality has gotten into
a little bit of trouble and I don't want to
be this person, but I'm gonna I'm probably gonna go
low Road, Nobry, We're gonna. I just it's I don't know,

Speaker 1 (39:12):
Yeah, I feel like maybe I was part of the problem,
not part of the solution. Before.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
Do you remember I wish we had that heart music?
Do you remember back on CBS six a local weekend anchor?

Speaker 3 (39:28):
Not only do I remember Levak I was employed.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
I know you were there.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
I was employed by I believe it's called Sinclair Broadcasting
at that point for CBS.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Six Heather Covar. I was a big Heather Covar fan.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Heather and I were I guess you can call them
colleagues at the same time at CBS six. However, her
and I never interacted. She worked weekends, I worked weekdays.
We never crossed paths. She's been of a workhorse on
the weekend. You know, she'd be in there all the time.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
She do long marathon shift stuff like that, which was
the reason that I was a very pret detective. I
knew we talked a handful of times. Nothing crazy, wasn't.
We weren't like buddies or anything. Never got drinks together,
but I you know, listen, when you when you're in
front of a microphone or a camera as much as

(40:15):
we are, every once in a while, things go sideways
for various reasons, sometimes health, sometimes fatigue, some sometimes drinking poos.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
So remember had Komra left CBS shortly.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
After that, she went viral for a newscast he did
her speech allegedly, No, she definitely slurred.

Speaker 1 (40:39):
Her speech was allegedly why thank you? Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
The speech was slurred because I believe I believe there
was something picks and I agreed on Quentin Cantara.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
We we had her back, We're like, yeah, you might
just be tired, and I believe she got called in
So it could be one of those things. You had
a couple drinks, didn't realize where you were at, get
on the air.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
And that you're in trouble in a double shift at Saturday.
And she was not let go by CBS six. Her
contract had expired, her contract was coming up. They decided
to not renew her contract. Yeah, and there's a difference.
People don't realize. There's a big difference.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
You know.

Speaker 4 (41:12):
I'm assuming that had something to do with not renewing
the contract because she did a very good job.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
You know.

Speaker 4 (41:18):
Aside from that, I thought, at least as a as
a consumer of the news, I didn't work there. She's
back in the news and not reporting it subject of
the news report. I kind of just want to read
the article from ABC seven News in College Station, Texas.

(41:40):
A TV news anchor in Texas was arrested on domestic
violence charges after police say she broke her boyfriend's nose.
Heather Covar was arrested Monday night in College station. According
to court records, Covar was drinking Margarita's at a Mexican
food restaurant called uh hold On, Hold On, hold On.

(42:00):
They had the name over here. It's I hope it's
not Senior Frogs.

Speaker 1 (42:08):
No, no, no, it's uh Loopy Tortilla.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
That's not that's gotta be a fake name. It's real
Loopy Tortilla.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
Loopy Tortilla. Listen to LUPI over at the Loopy Tortill. Yeah,
I got after it a little better, court court records.
Covar was drinking margaritas at Loopy Tortilla. She got into
an argument with her boyfriend over relationship issues they've been having.
They went back to the apartment across from Texas A
and M Campus University. Police recalled. When he got physical.

(42:39):
She reportedly punched him twelve times in the face, bit
his left arm, and scratched his other arm. He suffered
a bloody broken nose and had to barricade himself in
the bathroom until police got there. She's been a weekend
anchor on KBTX in Brian, Texas since May of twenty three.

(43:00):
They are quote u KBTX management is investigating the matter. Okay,
it might be time to stop drinking, am I. I'm
gonna put it out there. I was just gonna make
the suggestion, Hea, there might be have a.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
Little problem to drinking pooh at this point, this happened
three years ago when the clip went viral in July
of twenty twenty one. Many people three years ago would
have since that would have been the problem. However, I
gave I benefit of the doubt. Right, most people said,
how dare you accuse her of drinking now?

Speaker 1 (43:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (43:37):
No?

Speaker 4 (43:37):
So I think I think most people were like, she
got a problem, yeah, yeah, yeah, do something about it.

Speaker 1 (43:42):
And I was like, I'm not gonna pile on that, right.

Speaker 3 (43:44):
Some people thought that. Some people thought it's not fair
of us to assume that's what happened. Maybe she does
need help, but three years past, Like, did anything change
in three years in a public position to continue to
make headlines?

Speaker 4 (43:57):
Like I just started working there in twenty three, So
she might have had She might have been in news
purgatory for a little bit, had to go back home
to Texas.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
She went home to take care of her dad. I thought,
for a while, I think her dad was sick.

Speaker 3 (44:07):
There was another gig I thought she had in there
between because she took that. But yeah, see your thing, like,
do you feel weird defending her because I feel like
it wasn't so much like you got a microphone and
yelled and screamed about what happened.

Speaker 1 (44:18):
I don't think that you and she doesn't even look
like her any No, but.

Speaker 3 (44:21):
You guys engaged in conversations probably like hey, this is
a really tough I don't want to say the private conversation,
but I'm gonna sum it up. This is a public position.
People make mistakes. You had her back like, hey, this
is a tough gig, like this is not easy, right,
I don't want to I think.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
I told her.

Speaker 4 (44:38):
Not everybody. I think she screwed up. Some people like myself,
give you the benefit of the doubt. I think you know,
I think you've always done a great job and deserve
an opportunity to work through this. And she thanked me
for that and talked a few more times about it.
But now, I mean, come on, now, you're breaking dude's noses.

Speaker 1 (44:56):
He's amurriking like.

Speaker 4 (45:00):
I've dated some crazy Okay, I'm not gonna lie to you,
not exactly saying myself, I've had to do the hide
in the bathroom thing once or twice in my life.

Speaker 1 (45:10):
No, I have, I have? What do you mean I have?
Because you can't hit back.

Speaker 4 (45:15):
Like if you come into my house and you start
fighting me, I'm fighting you, guys. We're gonna fight and
may the best man win and whatever. You got a
crazy pants girlfriend or a person you're seeing and she
starts hitting you, well you got two choices. You go
to jail for hitting back, or you find a place
to hide and you lock down, and you lock it down.
At least twice in my life, I've had to lock

(45:35):
it down. I've regretted some of my decisions, but not
the lock it down decisions.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
Yes, I never thought of it like that. No, it's true.

Speaker 4 (45:42):
Yes, like you know that's gonna be the end of
the relationship. Oh, it's done, that's it, especially if you're
in there with a broken nose.

Speaker 1 (45:49):
You and all right.

Speaker 3 (45:51):
I never thought about the way you set that up
where it's like someone will show it and the police
will say there was a confrontation. The guy gets arrested,
she's charging she might be in tox kids, she's saying
that he hit her just the idea of me trying
to think about this, because look, not only does this
happen and have a local connection, this has happened in
sports before. We've seen scenarios play out with athletes and
coaches of what happened between he and her, and how

(46:12):
it affects a coaching legacy, a player legacy, and everything else.
And in a public position like this, how it affects that.
I want to say I'm surprised, but I guess I'm not.
But how the details of this have come about are
just the locking yourself in to protect yourself from your
girlfriend and tocause you all right, that's true. It only

(46:33):
would have escalated more if you weren't locked in. There's
another way to view it. And I guess you've lived.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
Nothing good would have.

Speaker 4 (46:38):
Come from stand and deliver, you know nothing, Nothing good
would have come from that. Sometimes discretion is the better
part of valor.

Speaker 1 (46:45):
You get out of there. But like you can't. I mean,
she's never gonna be taken seriously in college station.

Speaker 3 (46:55):
Again, let me throw this wild scenario at you, and
of course media boys gonna make it about media. Here
me if she worked in a non traditional media space
like let's say she was a pop barstool, right, Let's
say she worked at barstool. Let's say she did a podcast.
Let's say she was on TikTok. Let's say she did Instagram.
Wouldn't you be far more intrigued about her next post

(47:16):
of content than if she's a television anchor and whether
or she's gonna lose your job? Like talk to is
way too much of an example, but you know what
I mean that, Like, Hey, someone found themselves did a
controversial setting in their life. I want to hear what happened.
I'm gonna tune into what they're gonna post two months
from now on her own podcast, Like you could say
the Paul Brothers did this, Like the Paul Brothers found
themselves in content, the Kardashians found themselves. I might be

(47:38):
given Heather Covar way too much, but there was some
reality what I'm saying here of Like if she didn't
work in traditional media, people could not wait to find
out the details of what the hell just happened on
a different platform, Like it would have helped her career
in a wild way if she got help and shared
her struggle and shared her journey on a different platform.
If she's probably gonna lose your job.

Speaker 4 (47:58):
Now now I think I think you I didn't know
worry you were going because again she's the news person.
So it's not you can't do the whole. I'm a character,
you know, because that's what the Paul Brothers are.

Speaker 1 (48:10):
Characters. They're they're concrete content creators.

Speaker 4 (48:16):
They they were like a drunk uncle thrust out there
kind of fitch what we're doing, I'm sorry, kind of
part of what's happening here.

Speaker 1 (48:29):
The way back. Now, she just she has to admission
as a problem. She has to people.

Speaker 4 (48:34):
People will go on a redemption arc with her if
she like obviously she can't drink anymore. She wants to
be on the news. She wants to be a joke,
like talked to it and the Pauls. She could lean
all the way into it. Do drunk news, go, do
drunk history, go just get into it, just whatever. It'd
be tragic for people who know that she's talented, but

(48:56):
people would would embrace it. I think is as its content.
But like at this point, she's gonna have to maybe
maybe just to not go to jail for breaking the
boyfriend's nose. She may have to go into AA, it's
going to some form of rehab. Man, that's sounds sad. Now,

(49:16):
it's not too serious.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
I just like that. I just like the idea of
somebody just wrecking back Margarita's. You're just there and like.

Speaker 4 (49:24):
Like, you know, I don't know, Diane Sawyer is just
dropping Margarita's at loope to Tortilla.

Speaker 1 (49:31):
She backhands Dan rather right in front of you.

Speaker 4 (49:33):
Like that's there's something about that speaks to my childhood
and I enjoy it mentally.

Speaker 1 (49:38):
You know, no real journalism. I'll shut it back after
this whatever, that's all.

Speaker 3 (49:45):
There is a there is a way to make it happen.
There's like, think about this leg It's been three years,
I would say, in the television capital region space. But
no disrespect to our media colleagues. I'm thirteen and ten
and six the the two biggest stores. Have anybody in
media and television over the last three years. Not anybody
changing spots, not anybody getting a new job or promotion.

(50:07):
I'm not talking about the content of the work of
the stories. I'm talking about like media gossip. T Covar
wins both spots twelve times.

Speaker 1 (50:17):
He got it in the nose. How many times like
it almost feels like a cot like she's grabbed the
shirt and just go she ground and pound.

Speaker 3 (50:27):
Twelve is a pretty tells a lot specific.

Speaker 1 (50:30):
Number two.

Speaker 3 (50:32):
Like you might not be able to can think about,
like the WW on the ropes like Shamus, Oh yeah, the.

Speaker 1 (50:37):
Battery there the bowels. But yeah, I don't know, man one.
This is a terrible joke, but I got it to it. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (50:44):
Do you think if at the loop a tortilla they
were counting in Spanish? Oh no, I'm hoping the fight
have it at home. It would be distasteful. And I
apologize quickly. But we all thought about that for a second.

Speaker 1 (51:01):
I did know it's all four for us. Next there's
no recovering four big stories in the world of sports.
We have some heavy rain in parts of the Capital District,
especially to
