Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Lavak and Guzz on ninety five nine Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I wish everybody like this is. I don't want a
camera in here because I don't need people to see
what I'm doing. But if you could just see the
beginning of every show, whether or not, like God's got
the right button to click, you know, like his like
if he didn't like the thing he hit, he just
like sulks for like five to fifteen seconds right right,
and if it goes perfectly, he starts celebrating, like you

(00:27):
just want a golden medal. Being behind this board.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
People have learned, usually in the old radio days, to
be a producer over here.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yeah, I nail it. I nail it now.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
The baby, We're off and hot on a Wednesday. It's
a hot show today, Levak. It's weird weather in the
Capitol region. You and I have been doing wild things,
but we are ready. We have a historic show today.
I'm hyping it up out of the gates. You know
there's radio etiquette.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Did you know this? I know there's rules out there.
There's certain things that you know. This from me.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
We never take calls in an opening segment, at least
I try not to. I try to not say we
don't tak.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Because they don't. Let's I mean, let's you know, let's
let's be honest. You know, if they if people started
calling the elevation ten thousand phone nine five six nine
zero zero nine eight zero is something useful to say,
we'd probably take it. But nobody calls yet. We you know,
we don't do enough giveaways. That's what the old show.
We trained everybody like we like you see like a
dog on the street, and you want to make it

(01:20):
a house dog. You get a little treat here and there.
You got trained people to call. We need to giveaways,
all right. I don't want it to giveaways, all right,
that's fine, that's fine. I don't have anything giveaway right now.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Anyways, because our promo team is h what part of
things I know? I got congratulations, goots, you're now part
of it. If you win a prize at another station, do
I hear and we can call you. Because there are
some unwritten rules of radio sports talk radio that I've learned.
You don't take calls in the opening segment. You don't
take calls in the last segment. You don't open a
clip with an and or sound bite. Some would say, gods,

(01:51):
you don't use sound bites. I see the rules you're doing.
And then there's another rule I've made. This is more
of a gazroe that we used to never run interviews
back to back. Never, you know, it would be a
little separate, a little reaction. Rarely besides the week of
radio row, would we ever run back to back interviews.
Maybe once or twice in the history of the show
on the Fox. Bind We've done today back to back
to back in the five o'clock hour, and the podcast

(02:12):
audience is gonna have an individually based You're gonna have
Jordan Modiano, our friend from Express Employment Professionals, is gonna
join us lead off the top of the hour. We're
gonna have my former coach in studio with us. I
played for coach John Jorrocks, an assistant at Hobart College.
I've known coach Drock for more than fifteen years. He's
now the new head coach of the Union football team.

(02:32):
He's gonna join us in studio a few days before
camp opens up for the Garnet Chargers. And our dear,
dear friend, maybe the most frequent guest here on Lavack
and Guys on the Fox Sports ninety five nine nine
eighty side coach Greg Cautusso coming off a final four
season for the u Alney Great Danes. That's all coming
up in the five o'clock hour.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah, I mean it's a lot. And again, I don't
know why you make all these stupid rules, because then
we just have to break them when it makes sense,
you know what I mean. It's like, you know, you
could just go hey a lot of times the opening segment.
We're on a run, so we just go a lot
of times. In the end of the show, we like
doing the dump, so we just go a lot of times.
For spacing of the show, We'll move interviews around, so

(03:14):
we do that. I don't have to be rules, guys.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
I mean, this is I've learned. This, this is what
I've taught myself. We have broken those rules, but this
is the unwritten rules, and you're right, we do break
them sometimes the bad boys of radio.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Bad boys like well, listen, I never break the rules.
I uh me A'm a law abiding citizen. I just uh,
I don't do uh. I don't do the rule breaking.
I don't believe in it. You know. Our biggest rule
yesterday was make sure you watch the first episode of
Hard Knocks Chicago Bears, get a feel for the Bears,

(03:48):
you know, get a feel for what's going on out there.
That's it, you know. So uh so you know me, Man,
We did the show live in Mohawk, Kanda. Then thanks
to my guy Big Lou over at Kujino's, I went
over and hung out at nash Light National Night Out
over for underneath the bridge there in Rentler. We had
a great time spike dancing with kids. It was awesome.
As soon as I got home, Man, I watched every

(04:10):
second of Hard Knocks. It was amazing. I saw, I
saw the I saw the opening graphic there with the boats.
They were in the boats. That was cool. That's a
big thing in in Chicago is those tour boats. I've seen, uh,
the the uh the rookie there from Canada. Hang on
who sang in his in his in his in his

(04:31):
little skivvies. I saw. I said, yeah, dude, the whole
thing credits. Hang on a second.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
I as someone who's tried to pull this off before
on this show, and Twitter's called me on on it.
It sounds like those three things you just said are
things he saw on social media. It sounds like to me, Levank,
you messed up and didn't watch the episode.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I don't know what will give you that that. I mean,
Cayleb Williams was on it. Yeah, he's he's the coach. Yeah,
you were all there. You didn't watch it? That part
where Dick Buckis fights a real bear, I thought that
was pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
I've admitted I think no, no, no, I've admitted off
the top of the show that I have unwritten radio
rules in this format. I confessed to you to the
listening audience right now, and we are breaking some of
the rules today and it is gonna make me nervous
and I'm gonna feel uncomfortable, but we're gonna get through it,
and people are gonna say, gas, your rules are stupid,
like we just did ninety seconds ago.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
You were not.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
I confessed my sins here today and open the show,
confess your sins, Levac.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
You didn't watch it, you liar. You didn't watch a second.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Of Hard Knocks last night. I mean that's not last
night last night, or I have deodor on both under
both of my arms today. You messed up. You done
messed up.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
A a ron you had one side would rerunning for
me this morning. It is done, Max. No, I know
I don't have Max. I get this stuff sent to
me by by one of the producers because I've been
in radio, so that is disgusting. And they didn't send
it to me this morning, so I didn't get to
watch it. Yet they didn't make it.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Wa was that part where I mean when they threw
the ball and then the dude caught the ball and
it was like and it was like, Wow, this is
gonna be there. They're gonna be really good. And then
when they recap the Hall of.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Fame game and they were like they were like, hey,
it's raining, we got to stop playing. I was like, wow,
that's moving. If this was a quiz in college, you
got to be so far. Let's go. I mean, let's go.
It's always been a better test taker than I have
been a student, Let's be honest. Was Zebra Fluce on
the show?

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Yeah, it was Caitlyn Williams on the show, and a
huge part of it, yep, was the Hall of Fame
game on there the Rookie Show.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Hey wait a second, are you sure? Dude signed a
twenty thousand dollars signing bonus and they cheered that.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Now I'm starting to wonder if you did see the episode.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
I was so mad because the file was corupted that
was sent to me and they haven't sent me to
do one yet. So I don't want to pay for MAC.
I don't want to pay for anything. Here's what I'll
do for you for hard Knucks, because from a New
York case, if you have to spoil it, I have
I have lost the right to complain about spoiling it.
So you can tell me. You tell me what you
took away from it. I'll react to it.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
I will do a New York comparison on the Voice
of the Capital Regions Sports in Fox Sports ninety five
nine to nine eighty.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
There's a radio rule. Make sure you get your plugs in.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
The New York Giants opening episode, and what the pace
it is for this season is so much.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Better last year.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
You and I sent here in August of twenty twenty three,
and I came on that Wednesday show and went nuts
about the gents hard knocks. This is propaganda, This is
a fluff piece. It is so over the top of
love letter to Aaron Rodgers that I think it was
like forty five minutes into the episode, I will tell you.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
That it was not a love letter Aaron Rodgers last night.
It was I was. That was one of my bigger
takeaways as I was watching it intently.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
That is a correct answer. That is, you're checking off
a lot of boxes here. That is correct too. So
the Giant is way better. But if you are a
fan of the traditional I'll call it now the traditional
series of hard knocks.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Like, here's the way I was going to describe it,
if you'd watched the episode yesterday. When you go to
an ice cream shop, some people like mint chocolate chip,
some people like cookie dough. Some people will go to
an ice cream shop and try a flavor that's a
special to that place they've never had before and say
it's the best cream. So I went to last month,
they went to a place called the ice cream Shop
or hoe with Beach, Delaware. They have ice cream called crack.

(08:29):
Is it shop like sho Ppe? Yes, and it's called crack.
Is their ice cream? That's populous? That's that wasn't an
ice cream shop, that was an alley.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
I loved it. You did crack? I did. I had
an ice bowlet crack. What constitutes ice cream crack are
the little crystals in it and stuff. I'm not sure
what makes up, but you have to light you heat
the spoon.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Before you It was absolutely delicious last night Chicago Bears
hard knocks Vanilla Like if you like vanilla ice cream
or you like chop ice cream.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
It's just a plain old episode.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
You didn't watch it. You just nailed like seventy percent
of the episode. There's not much more I could add,
Bileb Williams. I believes gonna be a star. Eber Flus
has a personality and a family. As a coach, you
have guys who are gonna make the team. They did
the celebrity rookie show. Bears fans want to win a
super Bowl. That's about it. I got nothing else I
can mind about it. And Dj Moore signed a.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Huge contract my theory for goals of the show, and
I meant to talk to you about this yesterday, but
we got we got distracted by the going on over
at MoMA Khanda. If if I'm the Bears and I
really like Eberflus, like I really like him, he's on
the hot seat. We know, we all know he's on
the hot seat. I want him to come out of
this the way Bill O'Brien came out of the Texans season,

(09:40):
because when you found out that his kid had special needs,
and you saw the way he interacted with the players,
Like it was I always liked Bill O'Brien because I
knew he was a good coach terrible GM, but he
came out of that looking great. Like he came out
of that, you were invested in his success at that point. Now,
the team sucked after that, and you know, not too

(10:02):
shortly after that because of the moves he made as
a GM and you wanted him gone. But like, if
they can make us over the course of this five
episodes or whatever, five or six, whatever it is, if
they can make us actually give a poop about AVERF,
that's that's a win. They did a good job.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
I would I would say that A guess would be
that when this season wraps up, he will be on
the list of the coaches you least likely can remember
when you think.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Back to Hard Knocks.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Really yeah, I would say, and I'm not trying to
fool you with this, I'm trying to see if people
can remember this. I would say, do you remember the
name of the coach who was on the season for
the when the Dolphins were on Hard Knocks.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
I would Joe average name. It was Joe, not Joe Smith, right, it.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Was Joe, the name of a very famous broadcaster in
the history. I think he's been on television more than
anybody in the history of America. It was hosted a
famous morning show with women.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Who wants to be a millionaire? Oh, Joe Filban. Joe Filban.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
See, that's exactly you know what I wanted that to
play out like that, because I believe that's what's gonna
happen here for Ebraflus. You're gonna kind of sort of
remember his name, like Matt something. Did he have a beard?
Did he not have a beard? Because Joe Filbin season
for the Dolphins, he wasn't the raw ra guy.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Like Meanwhile, while we're talking about this, I look up
and first take is running every run in here, and
it's John Harbaugh doing the slip and slide fumble recovery
drill while being ohsed by his players, Like like, if
your last name is Harball, you'll never be forgotten. If
your last name is Philman and you're not regius, you
probably then yeah, because there's certain Egerfluce. It's such a
cool name. It sounds like it sounds like that reveal

(11:44):
scene in like in like a foreign horror movie where
like they finally find the dude who knows what's going on,
and it's like an older guy and he opens the door.
His eyebrows are like six feet long, and they go,
we've been attacked. We don't know what's happening. And he
goes e but loose and it's like a warbat. He
sounds like a warbat.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
There are a certain coaches in history or certain person
at last that pop off there shoven like Robert Solid
was doing some raw rock stuff, Rex Ryan the legendary
season he had, or Coach Wiley from the Brown season,
the big guy with the muscle.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Yeah right.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
You know what I think about war I think we're hot.
I think that's a great thing. Over there, Look at
you over there with.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
A hot There are certain coaches that have the person
that shine on television. I don't think Ibra Flues at
least after episode one is gonna be that person. Caleb
Williams might be. We might find other people, but that's
that's what Hard Knocks was. Lessing Giant fans. If there's
anything to take away, I feel like what we saw
for the off season Giants Hard Knocks has set the

(12:43):
bar so high, from personalities to production to what we
got to see that if you're a Bears fan and
both of you and I believe the Bears have a
realistic chance to get to the postseason this year.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
It was okay, it was vanilla. It was just nothing.
That's such a great clip. It was great, But he's
just having like a regular conversation. It's it's, you know,
just yeah, if.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
You were you ever had a ice coffee hot? What
do you mean ice hot? You got coffee hot? You
got ice coffee. You know what I'm saying. Hot?

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Awesome. That was a star.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
So there you go, go back and watch it, do
your homework, see what you think about this season now.
I feel like you're I feel like the rolls of
reverse ding. This is an odd addition, A little rolls
have been reversed.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
I think I think if I had, I mean, I'm
gonna watch it. I actually I meant to watch it
this morning. I met. I got up early, which was painful,
and I was like, I'm gonna watch it because last
night I was almost tired. It was, you know, I
was doing some stuff and I'm trying to get ready
for this trip because I'm going to Disney, and I
was like, you know what if I put it on
the BACKGROUNDM not gona pay attached to it. So I'll

(13:49):
just get up in the morning, I'll watch it. So
I get up and my files crop so I don't
have it. I'm like, oh, man, I can. I could
probably fake it if I just if I just go
to like ex accounts, I probably think it. I think
you probably would have pulled it off if if.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
I didn't out of the gates go on this rant
about the history of sports radio and the rules. I
think I threw you out and also my celebration of
nailing something correctly when it came to per production and technology.
I had you on your heels from the opening minutes
of the show. You had a game plan. I gave
you a quick jab.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
I wasn't sure if I was ready because you know,
even though I could get away with it, felt a
little deceitful, you know, like, I like, there's I can
definitely fake my way through a box score here and
there if I need to stuff like that. But hard knocks.
You're supposed to watch it. We talked about it. Were
like the eyes of the football world will be on
the Chicago bedge except for the Bax. That fatass is

(14:40):
going to sleep like you know, it's just whatever whatever.
I don't know, so Ageah, you recommend watching it, but
you'll hear you all the of the first episode. Now
you're hoping for more spice as we go.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Yeah, I would hope for more spice. I don't think
it's coming. I think that's what we're gonna get. This
is the flavor you have if you like traditional hard knocks.
This is what you signed up for. You're getting vanilla
or chocolate ice cream. You know what you're going for.
This is your standard hard knock season that's on the way.
Nothing I think for a New York sports saying nothing,
that's gonna at least something up like this. It's very possible.
This is the last time this summer we will lead
a show talking about the Bears hard knock season.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
How much better is this episode of Chris Farley's life,
because you know, they bring him into the Bear super fan.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
You know, they quickly and I don't know how many
people caught it. They did quickly show that in like
the montage of the opening credits of Like You Know That.
I think Bill Murray was used down it though, and
not the Uh No, it was the original group.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
It was. It was one of the writers, Robert Spiegel.
It was I want to say, dan Aykroyd and George Wentz.
George Wentz that was a tough one Y's and then
and then later it was Farley went and maybe Smiegel again.
But Schmigel. Sorry, it's the mono. It's Bingo Smigel. Yeah,

(15:56):
Hawsafeffer Incorporated. No, I I I'm excited about it. I
do want to watch it. I just like I said,
I got it's a calamity of ars, you know. But
I will I will point out that that night out
down to wrestling, that was dude. There were kids everywhere.
The police were interacting, they were helping out, they were
giving out toys to the kids. Our guy, you missed

(16:16):
our guy. Uh Tom McGrath, who's whose son Hawk was there?
Shout out to Tamarack zone right his Uh Huck, I
guess Huck and his daughter. They all want guitars, so
now I have a family band.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Oh my gosh, you should have gone man, I know,
boy just got back they were in Syracuse. They just
got back to all but he said, now I'm kind
of mumped. End go to it sounds like an awesome event.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Spike was was dancing with the kids, the Firebirds mascot.
We gave out a bunch of moraccas. So more families
will be upset. No one slept last night in wrestler,
no one, But it was it was, It was was,
And you know what, I think we were right off
the bus route. You could have actually just taken CDTA
over there and you would have been you'd been on
their way because as you know, you can hop on

(16:56):
board with CDTA and explore the capital region. They have
over fifty roots can connecting you to what matters, like
great events like that Sarah tooga all over downtown, all
over connected, all over Albany and uh. They also have
the CDPHP cycle featuring e bikes and the Drive Electric
car sharing program. CDETA is what connects us with a

(17:16):
mobility menu. To meet all of your needs, visit CDTA
dot org or download the navigator app and get connected today.
Little ticked off, I'm not on my house, isn't on
a CDTA route because then Sunday morning would be a
lot cheaper for me to get to the airport. You
know what I mean, at least at least Boston. Dan
fake offered to drive me to the airport. You didn't
even do that. Was that in the text today? Yeah?

(17:38):
I didn't. There's a lot of those. I didn't read it.
He's been he's been fake offering since since he found
out I was going on a Sunday morning. And then
he'll go, oh, I'm very I'm out of town. You
know what I mean. That's all you gotta do, guys,
you gotta go, I'll take you. Oh sorry, we're in Syracuse.
You know what I mean? Like, you don't have to
actually do it, all right, I'm not gonna do it. No, Yeah,
you guys say you're gonna do it first. Oh you
gotta go. You go, look back, what are you going?

(18:01):
And then I'll go, oh, five forty five Sunday morning?
So yeah, go where leveck? When are you going? I'm
gonna go like five forty five Sunday morning. Oh man,
I'm gonna be in Syracuse. I appreciate you even thinking
about it. That's great. See now you look like a
good guy. See, it's all that I do. I'll be
busy watching hard knocks. That's it'll be fine. Be okay.

(18:21):
It is Lavac and guys, Fox Sports Rade ninety We
we were debating who liked and didn't like the practice
fights between the Giants and Allions. I think we can
add a pretty big dislike to one group and we'll
talk about that next right here, Fox Sports Radio, ninety
five nine, nine eighty.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
It's Lavac and Gus on ninety five nine Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
I believe the children are our future. No, so if
you like, we've now got the off season hard knocks,
We've got in season hard knocks, We've got all this
other stuff. Right, We've extended the season. We're down to
three preseason games for every team. We we rarely see
the stars at all in the preseason. So I believe

(19:10):
the future of interacting with your favorite team before the
regular season opens, the actual players, the ones you want
to see, is going to be joint practices. I think
the joint practice. You know, we before, before they made
all these changes, you and I got to go see
Jags at Pats joint practice. And it's not a game,

(19:30):
not a game, not a game, We ain't talk about game,
we talk about practice. But you get to see Brady
go against the ones in passing drills. You get to
see some you know, your guys. It's a little fluff ear,
but you see it and it's there and it's and
it's pretty cool. And to be honest with you, you probably
get more interaction with the players than you win in
a preseason game. So I think that's where we're headed.

(19:54):
And after the league's decision as to what happened with
the Giants and the Lions, I think the league might
think that too, because we talked about the Lions and
the Giants getting into it elik neighbors. There were multiple kerfuffles, skirmishes,
dare I say, fights, and other things that the league

(20:15):
didn't like. So the league has ruled and has fined
both the Giants and the Lions two hundred thousand dollars each.
It's a pretty penny right there. It's not nothing. It's
not nothing now to the Giants and the Lions. Two
hundred k e not the end of the world, but
it's definitely enough where you look at these guys and
be like, we didn't want you fighting anyway. Now we're

(20:37):
losing money over you knock it off.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
So it's a little combination of those two things. Plus
we have to protect Oh, we haven't used this term
in a long time. Protect the shield. Yeah, the integrity
of the NFL. If there are fans on Thursday night
who are going to listen to the game picks one
oh six, they're home for the Giants this upcoming season.
They want to hear their favorite athletes or see players
they're gonna be productive. They don't want to get him
hurt in ones during a random fight. If you're thinking

(21:02):
about the headlines of the NFL off season, well, technically
renown in training camp still sort of the off season,
but you don't want this to be the headline. Guys,
knock it off. Nobody's getting hurt. This is not supposed
to be a riot during training camp. As much as
I don't want to side with corporate here, as much
as you mentioned, you and I have covered camp before,
those are the most exciting days of camp. When a

(21:24):
brawl breaks out, When the clips go viral, you find
out who's fighting who, and the energy is there is
Coaches at a level say get to hit somebody else.
That's the most fun of it. I think I'm tam
NFL on this one. They have to do things like
this to make sure guys don't get hurt. And the
storylines of camps are quick as brawl as possible.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Yep, yeah, keep it, keep it like, keep it moving,
let's not have problems. And again I think there's I
think there's marketability to it. If you again, if you
were if you told me, okay, collective bargaining agreement comes up,
we're going to eighteen games. Everybody's gonna go, oh whatever.

(22:05):
Two preseasons? How about one preseason? Okay, I'll give you
one preseason if you give me three joint practices each team,
and I get to televise how I see fit. I
get to treat them like combines. I get to treat
them like like like the workout. Yes, I get to
do that. If I get to do that, we can
trade and and then go. Also, by the way, these

(22:27):
are extra practices. So you get three practice a week now,
you get four during preseason, get an extra. If it's five,
you get six.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
I also wonder and please you let us know at
the ZFL fac on Twitter at Tom gons TMG.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
It was easy.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Certain things in sports change from generation generation from how
you grow up with the sports when you moved on,
Like I'm learning this right now that there was a
time and I know you lived through this too, that
if you were the guy who started the brawl in camp,
you were the man like he's so intense, he can't
turn it off, he has so much intensity. This is
the type of competition we want, So what if these

(23:00):
started to fight, That's the guy we want on our
team ramp. That really has been a conversation. So I'm
probably you listening right now. Potentially depending on your age,
you're like, yeah, like there's a neighbors even starting a
brawl and a fight and just being physical. And I
know that's a thin line, but maybe older sports fans
know what I'm talking about, that you want the intense
guy on your team. I don't know if that's still
a thing in football anymore. I don't know if you

(23:21):
want to be the guy Like I'm living this right now.
My oldest Rex is at the point where like he
will make a joke and it will be funny and
like we'll actually laugh out loud and react to him.
But because he's four years old, he'll go back to
the well again and then he'll tell it again. No,
he thinks like, if he keeps telling the same joke,
you already get the same reaction every time, and it's like, okay, no,
I can't keep doing that. It's like, uh, maybe a
college kid who's twenty one or twenty two, like doesn't

(23:43):
know the limit yet, that might be rewarded because they're
having a good time, they're being funny, they're getting reactions,
they're goofing off. But eventually there is a limit to
be reached. The NFL is now setting the limit. Yeah,
maybe in two thousand and seven it was cool to
start a fighting practice. It's twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Well maybe when nobody was watching you practice, yes, But
now when everyone is watching me, because it's the only
time that we're gonna see Daniel Jones and Elik Nambers
on the field together, it's the only time we're gonna
see you know, uh, golf and Amman Ross Saint Brown.
Now you're watching no, not at off.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
There's also some rationality Toude of it, like, hey, camp
used to be longer, You used to have double sessions.
You had a long as you mentioned, like there was
more times to evaluate and practice.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Stuff was so different.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
I don't know if any coach Dan Campbell included, because
he'd be the number one Lions. I just can't imagine
a coach that's down and says, yeah, we've got fifteen
practice days. We're down to our final third defensive tackle spot.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
What are we gonna do?

Speaker 3 (24:38):
Well, you did start a brawl last tuesday, you know,
like maybe maybe we got to take him. That was
a pretty nice Nobody does that. Like, the brawl's not
gonna put you over the top in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Maybe I don't know, but maybe, but it's got to
be a smart brawl. And and you're probably thinking to
yourself right now in your car, your truck or whatever,
a smart brawl like you were talking about, like the show,
the toughness to protect your teammate, to rile people up
like like you. I don't know if you ever dealt
with this. I've definitely seen it. I've heard it. Maybe

(25:11):
been a part of it. Hey, the rest of your
team's not really taking this practice seriously, are they. They're
they're kind of loafing, aren't they. Yeah, it looks like
eye coach, Yeah, fix that, okay, And you just clean
somebody's clock. You just take somebody right out of their shoes.
And then it's like everybody's like, wait, what are you doing?
I don't know, what aren't you doing? And now now
it's on, you know, now everybody's like, now everybody's trying.

(25:32):
Everybody's playing the smart players, like that wasn't you. You
didn't do that. You may have been the actual you
might have been the tool that achieved that, but you
weren't the You weren't the one who You weren't the
one who swung that ammer. And then everybody gets to work.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
If you're a Giant fan, think about the criticism that
the franchise's face, especially you know, ten years probably is
far enough for this. Like the offensive line stinks and
it's soft. Well, it seems like they're getting tougher upfront
because they're broll with the lines and get into this
the quarterback. There's no leadership anymore post Eli. They don't
have a leader. Well, Daniel Jones is diving in these brawls.

(26:06):
They're not smart enough on offense, so they do old school.
They don't have an innovative offense. I watched Brian Dable
in twenty twenty two. That was the best play call
and he was the best play caller in Buffalo, and
he's the best play calling in the NFL in twenty
twenty two. We don't have an outside thread after Odell.
Molik neighbors every criticism there has been for the Giants
over the last ten years. Somebody's heard it. One of

(26:28):
the maras has heard it. Whether it's somebody has heard
it and they've almost checked off. Joe Shanees heard it.
Here's the boxes. Not physical enough, We'll start a brawl.
Don't have a quarterback. Watch what he's about to do
this season. Don't think we have a receiver milk. They've
answered the criticisms. I know by the way in the
first second went we said, call it not on my phone?

Speaker 2 (26:48):
How do you not have your cell phone silence? I
don't know.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
I mean, come on, I'm talking about radio etiquette rules,
sharing my phones blaring during the come on, I.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Mean, what are you doing? Yeah, I don't know, man,
I used to derail my train of thought. Was a
ring ten no, no, no, shotball went off at the
exact same time. But I had silence, so like yours,
didn't mind look down and I'm like I'm about to
give you a hard time. And I also did not
do homework, so I like, I can't do it today.

(27:19):
I'm more encouraged by the Giants. How about that?

Speaker 3 (27:21):
I think Thursday Night, even though a lot of people
want to downplay preseason games, I am fascinated by everything
going on with the Giants.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
I am.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
I I did not think that would be my take
in the first week of August that I'm actually fascinated
by the Giants.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
I thought they would stink. In May, June, and July.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
You were first on me saying, like, you gotta start
giving credit to the Giants. What you're seeing and that
stuff matters, it does matter.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
Well, I think, I think what what stinks? We're not
gonna see the development of Dale Jones, Like, we're not
gonna see that yet. However, like with with the guru
that is Brian Dable, if Drew Lock goes out there
and looks solid against the Ones for the Lions, don't
you look at him and go, well, he can take
Drew Lock and make Drew Locke play well against Ones.

(28:03):
What do you think he's doing with Daniel Jones? Like,
I think I think that's for me. I may have
too much faith in Brian Dable, but when it comes
to we saw what he did with Josh Allen, He's
mister freaking Miyagi wax On, wax off. This is paint defense,
like break the huddle, form the huddle, break the huddle
for at that time we didn't know Dable. I gave

(28:26):
the credit to McDermott. You know, the head coach is
a defensive mind. But the credit clearly goes to Brian Dable.
And if he can do that with these two guys,
one of these two guys doesn't even need to be
Daniel Jones, no term. If Drew Locke lives up to
his post college hype, you could have something. But I
think you'll see what I need to see from the

(28:47):
Giants because I'm with you a very professional team on
Thursday tomorrow that goes out there and just looks good.
And I fully anticipate if it comes down to a
coaching decision, if it comes down to x's and O's
instead of Johnny's and Joe's, they'll be the Lions. Even
in preseason me too, I do as well.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
I feel like the Giants care more about this and
it comes down to x's and o's Dan Campbell. That
was the biggest knock on him was X's and O's
and Brian's able can out coach dang ghost. You know what, Most,
that's actually right. It should be shot Dan Campbell, it
should be most.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
That's exactly so, again, a lot to be learned. There's
two preseason games will probably you know, you'll hear more
about those tomorrow. We're live at River's Casino and Resort,
but which they've got some cool stuff going on we
got to talk about tomorrow. But I'm very excited, very
fired up. I'm not a Giants fan, but they are,
like because of my friends, they become like my NFC

(29:43):
ish team. No, Corey, I don't have multiple favorite teams
like you. Corey's like, well, there's thirty two teams and
I have seventeen favorites. Like, no, you get one favorite.
You get the teams you pay attention to give me.
The girlfriend or the friend watches them. You know that's it.
You don't get multiple favorites. Sorry, I better know. What

(30:04):
have we got to do today. I'm like, I know
we've got all these interviews coming up. I'm pumped for him,
but I just don't know if I have the energy
to get through all of this. Yes, you do. You
have an energy.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
You have the energy thanks to our friends at Sea four.
Sea four is helping us get through this summer. By
the way, tomorrow, you're back with our friends Quinn Kintara
Picks one I six, the homes for the New York
Giants and the Capital region where you can hear the
game right after we sign off from Rivers. Tomorrow, pregame
coverage starts on Picks. You'll be on at eight thirty eight.
Twenty four, though, is bringing us the bank World Challenge

(30:35):
Leave that continues to lead, but we're bouncing back. I
was like, why baby, I got a system now. I
was hot at Sarah Tooga on Friday. I'm bringing that
over for the ones that mattered. You didn't win those ones.
That is accurate, but Sea four has helped me get through.
I told you yesterday how great the purple popsicle has
been tasted. I'm ready to start trying to cheap great
purple purple is not a flake.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
What do you mean that? This is Hans purple? This
is this is what's happened. You spent all those years
looking at these other energy drinks and not enjoying them.
You don't realize purple not a flavor. It's greape and
it tastes like a great popsicle when you drink a
C four, not a purple popsicle. This isn't. This isn't.
You're not licking grimace. This is this is a great
energy drink.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Office fans love that scene when they go to Michael's
car and Ryan the temps out there grape C four.
I'm enjoying it. It's giving me the energy that I need,
all the boots that I need. We just had a
playground installed at the Kazlowski House, so you know the
energy is going to be through the roof today. Thank
you to CE four for helping me have that energy
that I need. Whether it's post word, pre work, You're

(31:36):
gonna slay good tonight. C four explosive energy.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
You can feel, get the ultimate for that extra boost
Speedway Stewart's they got them all for you. Good sportsmanship
or the most disgusting thing you've ever seen. Next, Loveout Guys,
Fox Sports Radio ninety nine.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
It's love Acking Guys. On the Voice of the Capitol
Regions Sports Fan, Fox Sports ninety five, nine and nine eighty.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Live of the GT Toys the studio that's toys with
a Z. Coming to the third hour today. Jordan Modiano.
He's a race car driver, business owner, good do gooder,
just all around good dude here in the Capitol region.
Former Gaze coach now Union Garnet Chargers coach John.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
Drockeln switch the order of that former Une football coach
and then coach to me the first bill.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
No, he's not former Union, he's the new Garnet Chargers
for he's listen, people want to talk about Goz. That's
the thing. And then a friend of mine and head
coach of the reigning defending c A champion, Great Danes,
Greg Gatusso, will also join us in the third hour.
There see fine, you like that? Okay, all right, this

(32:47):
is I think this. This might put Goz in a prencil.
This story might put Guz in a princil. So what
we've had happen is two Olympic athletes come in second
and third silver and bronze medal on the stand. They
bow like respectfully, kind of jokingly, but respectfully to the

(33:09):
gold medalists from Brazil. Baltimore Ravens corner Mary. Marlon Humphrey,
I want to call Marion now. Marlon Humphrey went to Twitter,
ex whatever and said, this is literally disgusting. Hates that
they were showing this ultimate respect to their compatriot. So

(33:29):
to flesh this out for you, the women's gymnastics ends simowing.
Biles getst the silver, Jordan Childs gets the gainst the bronze.
Rebecca Andrade from Brazil wins the gold and on the
podium they bow to her. Marlon Humphrey ticked, says, it's disgusting.

(33:52):
I thought it was a great show of sportsmanship. You're
in a pretzel because you think it's a great show
of sportsmanship, but you hate some own biles. Uh no, no, no, no,
no truth.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
I feel like there might be other ways this show respect.
The bowing image was a bit odd, especially when people
grabbed it. Like if you saw it out of contacts,
you're like, did somebody die? Did somebody get hurt? That
you dominate? Like seeing the picture alone may have startled people.
There are certain images and sports where if you don't
have the story, you quickly wonder what happened. I guess

(34:28):
the best thing I can compare this to is you
know in boxing in the UFC, when they just beat
the hell out of each other for a few rounds
and there's blood everywhere and you almost got choked out,
and they're hugging each other at the end of the fight,
both male or female fighters. That is just an odd
thing in sports of We just went a month plus
talking about how people's family members and who they are

(34:48):
to sell the fight, and now they're brothers or sisters
in the ring. That seems more normal to me than
what I saw there. So yeah, I am in an
a pretzel. I don't know if they know each other,
they've competed. I don't know if they really admire her
that much.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
I feel like there's more to this backstory that we
as the public don't know to have this be the
representation on the metal stand Man.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
You mentioned this s mo bile side of.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
It, Like what if it was flipped and they were
bound to some own biles when she won the Silford
the bronze and then I come.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
You gotta be kid, she's getting too much.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
That Yes, that take would have come for me. I
will fully admit that. So I am absolutely pretzeled in
this story. I'm trying to weasel my way out, and
that's the word I'll use here and say that there
could have been other forms of respect that wouldn't have
drawn this type of reaction. And I don't know if
competitors like Marlon Humphrey, I don't have any issues with

(35:40):
that and'd be like, hey, if you want to dap
them up, if you even want to say good game,
that's fine. This is too much admiration for an opponent
over the.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Time, I don't I think it's I I just assume
that if you're in this the gymnastics community, you're competing
against each other, you know, collegiate level, touring level, World championships, quarterfinals,
Olympic qualifiers, Olympics, you know each other in some way,

(36:13):
shape or form. Me you know each other. But I
also think, like, if you're some own Biles and somehow someway,
there is a community of Wieners and Gazes John Wiener
and Tom Goslawski and more who think you're overrated, who
maybe think you're arrogant for some reason. What better way
to congratulate someone who bested you fairly and kind of

(36:39):
stick it to everybody else like that? Then to just
show an act of contrition, show an active celebration for
that person, Like, if I'm not offended by bowing, why
are you offended that I bowed?

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Yeah, you know the fact, that's a great take it.
And it's the second time in a row where I
have to go with the back and mind, ain't nobody
bowed like I remember this dividly.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
I believe it was Gosh, why was I watching the
MTV award show. I'm assuming my wife had it on
the TV or somebody.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
But there's a.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
Moment where Camelo Cabello gives Madonna the Lifetime Achieving Award
and she says, right after, I have to do something
real quick, and she starts the bowing to Madonna.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
I'm like, all right, this is kind of weird. Just
give her the award.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
But there is a generation that like, hey, we are
just showing respect. I'm going to use an example that
you watched happen in person.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
I didn't.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
I wasn't a part of this conversation, but somebody in
the sports world actually wants this to be close to
a thing. Now, Mike Greenberg, you interviewed Mike Greenberg, and
I believe it.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
Was he he wants to replace handshakes with bows because
he's got He's a germ folk now, not the fool
on the knees. We are not a head nod, you
know that's that's a germ thing. That's not a respect
thing for him. Like he hated me for years because
I shook his hand.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
But I feel like there is something cool to that, like, Okay,
we're not especially a post COVID world, Like, hey, we're
gonna get rid of the shaking of the hands here.
We're not dapping people up. Hey, man, I got respect
the head nods a Catholic when I take communion, I
do the the bow, then take the communion Like yeah,
like I'm okay with that. It's I feel like it's
a generation thing. I'm totally in a press on this story.

(38:10):
You've achieved your goal of the segment. I feel like
I've got a good enough take. I don't know if
I'd rank it high, but you knew there were so
many layers to this onion that I'd get lost, And
sure enough, here I am with a map upside down,
wondering am I going in the right direction on this topic.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
You're you're you're wrong. It was great. It was good. Well,
like Michelle, Michelle Obama came out with she came out
and support it. It's a great thing of sisterhood and whatever.
I just think it's sportsmanship. Like, all right, so let's
let's go with the firebirds. Right. We're mouthy, we're we're

(38:47):
I wouldn't say we're arrogant, we're confident. And people don't
like it. So what happened. We lost the Billings Outlaws
in the arena bowl in the mall, and everybody waited.
They thought we were gonna come out and go, well,
we shouldn't have lost. We shouldn't have lost, but that's
our fault. Billings outplayed us. So we respected Billings and
we've done nothing but respect Billings ever since. People wanted

(39:08):
us start something, they wanted us not to say congratulations
to Billings. Darius Prince, who was affected by the loss,
took it personally, took ownership of the loss. Was finally
able to write about it on Facebook yesterday and it
was a It was an emotional moving post from him,
and I'm proud of him for it. That's respect. There's

(39:30):
people out there that think we shouldn't do that, Like
I just think it's like, if you don't like the
act of contrition, well that's fine, it's not disgusting anyway.
These are world class athletes who probably again are the
only people who understand what those other people are going
through every day. And for those two to bow to
or I'm like, you know what, you know what I
have bowed? I don't know, but I have no issue

(39:50):
with it. I think it's I think it's just a
it's a sign of great sportsmanship. It's what the Olympus
are supposed to be about. And and Marlon Humphreys, come
on that dude, he's a raven you know sportsship. Now.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
I just I think Marlon Humphries, I don't want to
speak for him. I know he does go off a
lot on social media. I feel like he doesn't want
that to be the standard. Like he's in full camp mode,
he's in full competition mode. As a rape, we'll use
the raven part of it. Hey, the Steelers want the Bengals.
Like there's maybe it's machismo, maybe it's manhood. Maybe it's

(40:22):
female versus male generational There's a lot of things to this.
I think the picture does play a lot to it though,
Like if you don't know this story or the background,
that also gets people worked up.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
The Olympics are getting people worked up. I figured that out.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
I can give you that as a storyline of twenty
twenty four, whether it's political takes, whether it's the boxer gosh.
I saw the gy Facebook page after we posted the
Algeria boxer story.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
I think that's the.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
Most engaged post we've had in twenty twenty four. A
lot's happened in the political world that one's leading the
way right now. That's got people all worked up. The
story Simon Biles, it has been Ah. I don't want
to say successful because I feel like that takes away
from some of the athletes. But if the goal was
to get the attention of the American sports fan through
the Olympics and have eyes on the sport and people

(41:11):
invested in the athletes, it feels like a success. We've
gotten there in different directions, but it definitely feels like
a success so far, but still some big time sporting
events to go, all right.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
I just I think it was I think it was cool,
and I think Marlon Humphrey is a turd for saying
it was disgusting. That's what I think. How do you
like that? All right? It's a turn alert and I
think that if it wasn't some more Biles, you'd be
a hundredscent on board. You would think it was light, playful,
fun and respectful. But you know, you just hate some
moone Biles and that's something that you're gonna have to
live with and deal with. That's that's it right there,

(41:45):
my friend, how do you feel about that? I feel
like I love Mohawk Conda. We can all agree on Moha.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
Conner were there Yesterday's so awesome seen amazing people who
help across the Capital region from Lindsay hard And we
saw our guy Greg Johnson, John Lucas, Brian McKenna of
the d ip Man, Morales, John in service Man. We
could run through the names, our guy Jordan and more
so many wonderful people in mohn Kanda. We could go
five ten more people. Alex of course lead off the
show as well. I know all these people because we

(42:12):
continue to build that relationship. Whether you need a help
in service, whether you're looking for a new vehicle, you've
recommended it to a family member or a friend, these
are the people that you continue to go back for
for years to come to help you find the ride.
Maybe you're gonna get a vehicle in your early twenties,
and then your life changes in your linked twenties, in
your early thirties, your budget changes. Mohawk Kanda has the
people that you want to have on your side going
through that big process, people you can trust during the

(42:34):
carbine experience. Mohawk Kanda is there for you. I like
this summer, the gold medal deals going on in Mohawk Kanda,
the love they're getting across social media, and people showing
off their new rides. You'd love to see it here
in the summer. By the way, it is August, the
falls on the way. Maybe you've got one last summer
road trip on the way. Maybe you're already thinking about
the football tailgates, and if you've got the vehicle to
be the host. Mohawkana can help you find all those

(42:56):
things today, right now in Glenville, where they always go
out of their way to please you and Levac, they
bring us the top Foard four every single day, the
four biggest stories in the world of sports.

Speaker 2 (43:04):
Oh, my goodness, isn't that next? Yes, it is all right,
cool that's coming up. Fox Sports Radio ninety five, nine,
