Live in the GT Toy studio Toys with the Z.
It is Levac and guys here with you a sort
of it is the CDTA Kickstarter. How we start off
every single money the ten biggest stories you need to
know from the weekend, but joining us today on a Monday.
You that guy right there in the studio, introduce yourself.
(00:38):
Who is that man? That's not Levac? Who are you?
That's Sean Martin? Hello Sean, How are you?
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Hey? Guys? How you doing?
Speaker 3 (00:53):
I'm doing well man. For those who don't know Sean Martin, Sean,
go ahead, introduce yourself. Pug Some people may know you
from the podcast side.
Speaker 5 (01:03):
Most people do a little bit about myself living Lathan,
went to Bethlehem Central High School graduate, my wife missus Pugsley,
and I have two boys that'll be eight in a
few weeks, Leam and Noah. Most people around here may
know me as a freelance sports writer for The Times
Union since two thousand and seven.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
I'm getting ready for another year with them.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
High school college sports, football, RPI union hockey, all that
good stuff. And on the podcast side, two podcasts right now,
Pugsley's Pit's been going on about three years. Do another
one with an old friend of mine from college, m
d and Nellie on Twitter, Fantasy Baseball Now as part
of the ball nine dot com podcast network. And also
(01:43):
my first foray into the podcast world the emin eminem
Across the Board with good friends Ashley Miller and Eric McDowell.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
And that was a lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
You get three full hours of Pugsy Sean Martin here today,
so he's taking us all the way to six o'clock.
He will be riding all the way through and by
the way, right around like four twenty. We have a
little Pungsley's takeover, especially for our digital audience, the podcast audience,
to get something special toay here in August on Monday August. Well,
so let's keep rolling here in the CDTA Kickstarter the
(02:13):
ten Things need to Know. That was number ten. We
gave you a layup out of the gates there, Sean Martin.
So let's move on to number nine. I will tell
you this. My dad has been telling me, Tommy Boy,
you gotta watch Charlie Hustle. You got to watch the
HBO special on Pete Rose. I finished the first episode
last night. I'm not sure if you've consumed it, if
you've watched it at all, but I'll ask you this
open ended question. Is there anything at your point as
(02:36):
a baseball fan that you are that someone can convince
you and tell you that Pete Row should be in
the Hall of Fame? Or maybe you already believe it.
What do you make of Pete Rose and this big
specially he's getting on HBO, And do you think it
could actually change the tide? And how do you feel
about Pete Rose?
Speaker 5 (02:51):
Absolutely, no way should ever be in the Hall of
Fame period.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
The rule is on the clubhouse of every.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Major League ballpark, you know, the gambling rule out there.
It's no secret he broke it. You want to, you know,
do the do the crime. You gotta you gotta do
the time, so all time hit leader. It's it's a
too bad but self inflicted wound. He shouldn't be allowed.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
It's so interesting in the first few episodes that I
find Pete Rose, who is known to be one of
the biggest liars in the history of sports known to
be one of. I guess you could say cheater, because
it's not legal to wager on that. In the history
of sports, some have cheated far more than him. I
do find him at times in this endearing that I'm
rooting for him, And maybe that's the whole point of this.
(03:33):
Maybe I should just be aware enough of Hey, they're
doing a six to eight part documentary about somebody. You
hope by the end of it you do find yourself
feeling a different way about if you haven't watched it, Yes,
this is why you take advice from your father once
in a while. Go watch Charlie Hustle on HBO. It
may slowly start to make you reconsider Pete Rose. However,
I'm with you, it's gonna be really hard for the
(03:54):
next few episodes. Convinced me that my take of Pete
Rose being in the Hall of Fame should change because
of the rules that he broke, and even so much
so about him lying about it for the whole time.
Let's move on a story number eight. We've got some
local news. We know you already. Football is officially in
pre season camp. The Great Danes perharing to come off
the greatest season in program history as they look towards
potentially a Final four, and even more for coach Gregattuso
(04:15):
in his squad trying to find a lot of things
changing with the program, involving the transfer portal, and also
a big day. You might have missed this my former
coach now I played for coach Kevin de Wall and
coach Bank Craig and Hobart, but my assistant coach John D. Rock,
now the head coach of the Union Garnet Chargers. I
caught myself there the Union football team camp opens up,
John Martin, you've covered union hockey, You've been on campus
(04:38):
a bunch. Levac will admit this. I don't think he
ticked off coach Trock, but he dropped a little point about, well,
when people think about Union, they think it as a
hockey school, and coach Jock quickly reminded him, I think
of it as a football school too. What could the
impact of union football be here in comparison to union hockey?
Do you ever see a time where people are going
to talk about both sports in the same sense of
(05:00):
what's going on in Schenectady?
Speaker 5 (05:01):
They could they if they can keep up the momentum
that coach Berman had before he left. Absolutely, it's you know,
hockey's down the road. It's not that far off early October.
But look, if you're winning, that's what sport your school
is at the top.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
I love that Union football is going to be talked
about by fans here locally because Union football has been
all over the place. They've had really good seas as
you just mentioned recently. Before that, I remember coming to
the Capitol Region and they were struggling to find wins.
So we've seen all these coaches have the success and
move on to the FCS level. And again, as a
proud Hobart alum, I get nervous about other teams in
(05:38):
the Liberty League because they don't know what to expect
now with coach Drock the division one background knowing the
Liberty League for a decade plus. If you're a Union
football fan or a Union alumni, get ready for that
as camp opens up today. Oh by the way, if
you're a player listening, hope you did your conditioning. Coach
Droc told me about some of the sprints they are
going to be running. I'm glad I'm sitting here behind
(05:58):
a computer board and not on the field. Let's move
on to story number seven. You and I are big
college football fans. We're gonna talk a lot of college
football today. If you are a college football fan. We
know the ap Top twenty five pool came out in
minds hitting Fox Sports next week, But I love this
stat this week, This Monday is the final Monday. The
college football fans are gonna have to go from Monday
to Sunday without any college football action. This is the
(06:22):
last one until January twenty seventh. We get week zero
next week, we get all those things we love about
college football. I don't know if I asked you this question.
Maybe I've asked you this multiple times. I keep forgetting.
I think my answer gonna be we love the expansion, right,
we're here for more college football. The date January twenty seven.
(06:43):
I had to look double tickets. Am I sure about that?
But more college football better?
Speaker 6 (06:47):
Right?
Speaker 3 (06:47):
We don't have to overthink this one.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
I'm all for that. Look.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
I don't like the way the conferences have been dug up,
but you know what, they didn't ask me my opinion.
The money cocks, so more football, the better it helps
fill in the weekend, and quite frankly, the more I
can hear some of these marching bands and every play
after big scores and touchdowns, that's the atmosphere college football
that I love, with the alumni and the cheerleaders and
just the whole stadium environments. And you try and rank
(07:13):
a top twenty five college football program environments, You've got
a hard time getting twenty five in there.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
It's bit's awesome FBS, FCS D two, D three. If
you are a college football fan, you're gonna get all.
And let's also add, by the way, not only is
this right here, Fox Sports ninety five nine to ninety
your home for Syracuse football this upcoming season, and our
sister station WGY, we know how the schedule goes. Now
you're gonna get games on Friday nights. I know two
(07:39):
games in particular coming up for sercies on Fridays and
Saturdays and Thursdays. So college football is gonna be doing
it right. I can't wait to talk about all teams.
And for everybody that complained about conference realignment, you better
keep your complaints going. When all of a sudden, USC
plays Michigan and Oregon plays an unbelievable team and Texas
is playing Bama. When we get these great matchups on
(08:00):
a Saturday, people are complaining out about conference realignment. You
better keep that same energy because I know you're not.
We all know what's not gonna happen. We're gonna be
just thrilled with the games we get. Let's move on
to story number six. More history was made over the weekend.
It's been ten plus years. Never happened in the history
of the Lavac and Gosha where we're scheduled to be
out at Saratoga on a Friday and weather rains out everything.
(08:22):
Sarahtoga's schedule changes the summer overall's felt different for someone
I tossed that to you, Sean Martin, still in for
Levac today when it comes to the racing season. Has
it felt different for you this summer because of the Belmont?
I don't know what the right word is to describe it.
You're the author, you're the writer. Could you give me
a word two or three that describes the feelings you
have about one of the more interesting summers at Saratoga
(08:45):
with now, whether the Belmont and an early labor day,
how would you describe Sarahtoga so far? This summer, I.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Would describe it like it always is. It is awesome.
It is one of my favorite places in the world.
Back in the day, you go get your picnic tables
in the morning, I'd be the guy there at seven
thirty in the morning with my coffee, maybe a cigar
depending on what year it was, with my racing program.
I'd be in my glory being in that back in
(09:12):
that back picnic area by myself, and it was just fantastic.
Sarahtoga no matter what it is, is phenomenal. It's the
best best sports venue in the Capitol District by far.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
I'm gonna be going up there in the next week
or two as well.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
So don't forget Friday. If you want to stop eye
you can't. You were scheduling. I believe two Friday's going
to come visit us. In the weather changes and schedules
and life changes. So we are scheduled to be back
this Friday at Saratoga. Our guy Brian the closes Mariano
scheduled doing us on Friday. He's on the pink sheet.
He will be there. So we got a lot of
things coming up this week. When be your scheduled be
back in our same spot. It has been all summer
(09:44):
long Friday at Saratoga. Shame on me. Here for story
number five. I told you this yesterday when you and
I were prepping for today's show. I don't know how.
I don't know why. I'm assuming I'm very busy and
very popular. I assume I'm a man of many talents
on the week, maybe because of where I live. For
the first time is a sports fan in the fine
(10:05):
What aint I intended? A Tricity ValleyCats game. I finally
did my first Valley Cat game. I know you're shaming me.
I should have done it far sooner. Shout out to
the Valley Cats. Awesome. My wife, who has never gone
to a Valley Cat game either, she couldn't believe this.
She's like, has this been here the whole time? Yes,
this has been here the whole time at all, But
it's a little dry for us about forty minutes. But
(10:26):
from the atmosphere to the game, to the pitch clock,
to Southpaw to the NFL Sunday to the kids zone. Man,
if you are looking for somebody new and I know
a lot of parents did it because there was tons
of kids there on Sunday. Shout out to the Valley
Cats the doubleheader. The weather benefits them because more and
more people came out on Sunday. You're a father as
(10:46):
well of two Valley Cat baseball in the summer. If
you're a father like us, you can't beat that for
the kids.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
Now the Valley Cats. I've been was a few weeks ago.
I've been there last year as well. It's actually the
only two times my boys have seen live fireworks were
at Valley Cats games. And it's perfect for me. I
love love the game of baseball. I get to introduce
them to baseball. Like you said, they do the bounce house.
The one thing about the Valley Cats, they do a
(11:13):
great job entertaining the kids because, as any any parents
would know, if the kids are having fun, the parents
are going to have a good time and you can
go enjoy the sport and then get the kids involved.
And like I said, the fireworks, those are some serious
fireworks they put out there on those on those nights,
and I would highly recommend it all. It's a great venue.
(11:33):
They got a little bit everything. On the concourse, you
can't beat it.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Let's give that baseball themes gown here for story number four,
the New York Mets, from the surprise of the summer
to questioning what they're doing at the deadline to getting
swept by the Mariners. We got a lot of Mets
talk coming up later on in the show about what
the team could look like going forward for the playoff push,
But the impact of the sweep is they lose three
(11:59):
to Seattle. Met Fan, maybe I'm being nice and generous
here on a Monday to start off the week. Maybe
I'm not being as yelling and screaming and saying at
the end of the world, not that early in the week.
I'm just not that much impacted by this destruction of Seattle.
I get it combined, losing a series twenty two to
one has some met fans worked up. Our guy Mike
(12:20):
in the office, so I think you just met and
our guys Zach, they're a little bit more concerned. Is
it odd that I'm not more concerned about this. I
think this is way more a compliment to the Seattle
Mariners than what they can do if they gets to
the postseason than anything involving the Mets. Your take on Mariners, Mets, I.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
Think you gotta remember, even though the Mariners have struggled offensively.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
They're still tied for the American League West leap.
Speaker 5 (12:40):
Yeah, okay, so if you're the Mets, all right, you
took your lumps.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Now you come home.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
You got the powerhouse, not Oakland Athletics in town, followed
by the Marlins. You got six chances to get it
right this week and get right back into that playoff spot.
But they're lingering with that whole gaggle of NL team too.
So the metsri fine scrub the weekend. It happens. It's baseball.
They play one hundred and sixty two games. You're not
always gonna be.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
On Gosh, Seattle's got everything too. I feel like it's
unfair for me to keep doing this that because they
haven't been good for a long time. I keep discounting
the Mariners and thinking they can't make a run. Just
bookmark that somewhere. See if I have that same opinion
about Seattle come September, if they're not going to blow
the lead, not costing themself a playoff spot or do
something odd. But until I see that, I hold weight
(13:29):
about what the Ms could be this season. Let's move
on to the next one. The new York Yankees weather
affecting their series with the defending World Cercers champion Texas Rangers.
But what have you done for me lately? How about yesterday?
Aaron Judge forty second home run, Levac and Iron a
home run pool mostly everybody had. Judge didn't hit one
all a week. We thought the pool was gonna be
(13:49):
basically gone. Sure enough, Judge goes deep. Oh yeah, by
the way, Stanton, oh yeah, and Sodo they all smashed one.
How about Soto? Two of them, by the way, Yankees.
Howard showed off in that series against the defending champions,
taking two or three against the Rangers. As much as
the Yankees have faced criticism those three on, Stanton, Soto, Judge,
(14:10):
I'm not sure if we can find any lineup in
baseball that when those three are hitting like that, that
is the best power you can find in major leagues
in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
They are tough, and Aaron Judge can hit the ball long,
long way.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Soto has been the key for them this year.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
He's been the guy that's been I'm not saying more
consistent than Judge, but Soto does a lot of things.
That's a one to two punch set of Stanton can
find a way to stay healthy. Yeah, that's a tough
tree out of face and for any pitchest.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Somewhere Levac is sitting on Splash Mountain or an Epcot
ride or whatever he's doing. Maybe he's got the show
on the iHeart apps, like, oh okay, guys opening the
show complimenting is the Yankees? This is interesting? How long
have I been at around the world at Epcot right now?
Von drinking? No, Levac, take your compliment for what it is.
Let's move on to story number two, the Olympic Games.
We want to get to this in the third hour today.
(15:00):
What the Olympics were, the storylines, we remember, the athletes,
we remember in more. But we've got some breaking news
involved in the Olympics about twenty twenty four versus twenty
twenty eight. We've got some sports that are in and out.
Sean Martin, here are two sports that are no longer
going to be in the Olympics in twenty twenty eight,
(15:20):
boxing and break dancing. What are your what are your
reactions to hear those sports not in twenty twenty eighth
Olympic Games.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
I was going for USA breakdancing. I have a true story.
I have a flat spot right on the back of
my head. It makes me tailor made for that sport.
I dropped on my head when I was one. My
grandfather would call me on a stool, took me off
of ice cream, put me on a stool, thinking I
could sit up, and he was unfortunately wrong. And I
(15:50):
do have a flat spot right on the back, right
where there's no hair. Uh So it's an ideal setup
for me. I wish it had break dancing back in
the eighties and nineties.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
To make light of headshots. But I wonder, like if
someone just like tuned into that bar always talking about
the boxing side, I don't know, brick dancing. That's what
I said. Boxing has found themselves in controversy far more
politically than they wanted to be. And I wonder how
much if it all that played a factor, And of
course pe cautions and everything else, brick dancing. That Australian
professor ruined it for everybody. She's out there just spinning
around her head like you and I would look at
(16:20):
a wedding or you mentioned maybe you're born to do it.
It had a nice run, It'll be wait, it was
in what what happened in twenty twenty four. Here are
the sports that have been added though in twenty twenty eight, flag, football, squash, baseball, softball, lacrosse,
and cricket are all back. You want to talk about
(16:42):
American bias in twenty twenty eight, I really feel like
Tmusi can win every gold medal in every sport. I
just said it right there.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
Oh yeah, paseball, It's nice.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
It'll be interesting you see how MLB handles it if
they field triple A teams or do they take a pause,
say the NHL will do during the games.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
It'll be curious to see how it would be handles it.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
And story number one, we are three Sundays away from kickoff.
That's right, how we've been wrapping up the CDTA kickstarters.
This is usually how we recap a weekend in the fall.
Why it got so popular. We appreciate our friends over
at CDTA for bringing this back. It started in the
fall CDTA kickstarter all that. So we mentioned the college
(17:26):
football storyline NFL football fans, don't you worry? Soon enough
on a Monday in the fall, be recapping all the
action and a high paced environment like we do here.
How about that do you enjoy that three sundays away
from watching seven hours of commercial free football, enjoying the
bets and everything else. And you you're Squad. For those
(17:46):
who don't know, Levac is a Raider fan, and you also.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
The Oakland Raiders.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
My friend I grew up about fifteen miles south of
the Oakland Coliseum. To it to some people, it's a
dump to me at home, okay, And for you, good
continuity for you. You get to hang out with the Raider
fan on this Monday afternoon one with the same dashing,
good looks as Levac has. It's just more the same
for you. We want continuity for guys.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
I don't know if this was written in my contract
here at Iharder Fox Sports that when Levac is gone,
you must be replaced by a fellow Raider fit. I
think he may have added that into the contract, but
sure enough, for the next two and a half plus hour,
Sean Martin, you know him from across the Capitol reach,
and he will be filling in for Lavack here on
Fox Sports ninety five nine to ninety first segment in
the books, I throw it at you, high pace, out
(18:33):
of the gun, going fast, ten big stories to cdtak start.
By the way, we mentioned in the NFL there, we
gotta talk about the Jets, we gotta talk about the bills.
We gotta talk about the New York teams that have
seen preseason action. How are the fan bases feeling after
that first performance? Are there things already to be concerned about.
We will cover all that coming up here in the
first hour on Lavack and Guys. But let's get some

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Levac is off to me. Sean Martin filling in for
Levac today. I almost feel nervous doing this because Sewan
Martin's been nice enough to fill in. And what do
we do. In the second segment, we go to the
Elevation ten thousand phone lines. Elevate your brand today with
Elevation ten thousand, he is gonna hear from one some
would call the most famous sports caller in the Capitol region.
(25:03):
Some would say, what is Michael Kelly? What is Sean
Martin doing that they haven't written in an article about
this man who's now on the phone lines? He is
the one and only Corey and Greenwich. Corey, before you
say it, be nice to Sean. He just started. It's
his first day. No yelling and screaming at our special
guest host.
Speaker 17 (25:19):
Okay, hi guys, Hi, Hey Corey.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Speaking of which, what was really funny? I was at
my farmer's market yesterday and I was talking to these guys,
the cookers, and one of the one of the.
Speaker 7 (25:34):
Guys that came up to buy some food He's like,
he came back to where I was selling stuff, and
he's like that voice sounds familiar.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
And and then he's like, are you Corey from Greenwich?
Speaker 7 (25:48):
And he said, could I listen to in.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
The mornings in the afternoons? And I listened to you
on Fox Sports.
Speaker 7 (25:55):
Radio with a lack of guys, and I hear you.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
What what a compliment? Thank you Corey for sharing that story.
Now that your head is so big, a can fit
in the farm there in Greenwich. What do you have
for us about college football today? What's your question?
Speaker 7 (26:11):
I want guys's early prediction, your top four teams that
you think are going to be good this year. And
give me the fifth team, a dark horse team that
nobody's talking about, and go okay, and for example the
fifth team, I had a couple friends say Florida and Nebraska,
(26:35):
and what do you think?
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Okay, here's what I'm gonna do for that top four.
I'm gonna make you wait an hour because we have
that on our show, so you will get our top
four before the show ends. I will do this. I
will give you one team. I will give you Oklahoma
State as a dark horse. I think Oklahoma State is
set up. Well, that is one of my favorite plays.
They got to the title game last year. I like
Oklahoma State is my sleeper team that can get to
(26:57):
the top four seed, maybe even to the semi finals.
The Nebraska pick, Corey, I don't think you knew this.
Sean is a huge Nebraska fans. I'm gonna let him
answer that for you. He is thrilled with you and
your friends right now. Uh jog go right ahead about
the courd Oscar pick there from Corey's friends.
Speaker 5 (27:12):
I've always felt how bright and brilliant Corey is when
I've heard him call into your show, and.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
It is now confirmed.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
They're careful Corey.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
The Husker nation. Look, it's there for Nebraska. A bowl
game obviously, is there? The schedule is there. They got
three games to me at Ohio State. You got Wisconsin
and Iowa later in the year. All right, those are
the three games of if I see three losses, those
are the three. But other than that, the good Mojo
(27:45):
Matt rule is brought there. Let's say they win the
Wisconsin Iowa games, because they're just a going to not
better than both those teams. Nebraska's got to get the
problems they've had inside between their ears over the years,
losing a lot of one one score games. If they
can do that, yeah, they could be in the mix.
And look, I'm as big a homer as you're ever
gonna hear, so I try and keep it real, But yeah,
(28:06):
Nebraska could.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
I'm not so sure about Florida.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
I think they have got a brutal schedule ahead of
them in the SEC. I if I could give you
a sleeper team, I like Utah out the Big twelve
to competition's not kind of what they had in the
Pac twelve, but Utah's gonna be pretty good.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Utah, Oklahoma State, your best sleeper fagus in the Big twelve.
And I'm with him on Florida too, that Florida's schedule
is unbelievably brutal, like an all time horrible schedule.
Speaker 7 (28:34):
Is it worse in the Michigan schedule?
Speaker 3 (28:36):
Yes, yes, yes, way worse than me, Cory. I appreciate
the call, Thank you for being nice to Sean, and
enjoy it and we'll talk an soon, my friend.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Okay, what happened? Yeah, thank god, God does don Yes,
I mean Michigan has.
Speaker 7 (28:53):
Ohio State was supposed to be really good. They have
Oregon and USC and do they have him?
Speaker 3 (29:01):
I believe they don't, but they have Texas. But they
have Texas.
Speaker 12 (29:05):
Yeah, Texas.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
So with orgeat Alm, I don't know.
Speaker 7 (29:09):
We'll see.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Thank you, Corey, thank you, That's what I needed. Ry
Kosy the awkward it would have been Corey and Greenwich call.
The last ninety seconds it is me trying to hang
up on him, him seek this a way in for
a take that he probably didn't need to do, and
then me fishing for a compliment. Then you've officially made
it in Capitlar region sports talk radio. Now when I
when I first did this in Syracuse, the caller I
(29:32):
wanted was Veto in North Syracuse or Drawing Clay or
Steven North Syracuse. I still remember the callers' names. You
haven't hosted in sports talk radio in the Capitol regionalist
Corey and Greenwich has taking a call from you or
the rock the rock Man, Frank Rocca. Those are the two,
but Corey far more. How did that feel? Did that
feel like you were baptized again after doing a Krey
(29:53):
and Greenwich call?
Speaker 5 (29:54):
Absolutely, and again he's a brilliant man. I'm getting on
the Husker Nation we'll take it.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Let's talk about I'll quote you on that. Let's talk
about the Bills and the Jets in their preseason over
Let's start with the Bills. Now, most of this Bill
preseason game will be played again over and over again
on Hard Knocks coming up on Tuesday as the Bears
of the feature team who destroyed Buffalo thirty three or six.
I'm gonna try to be nice Bills fans. I'm gonna
give you a positive and a negative from the game,
(30:22):
and Jean Martin, you can do the same fielding for
the back today. I'll give you one positive and one negative,
and the positive can last the entire season. And this
is truly the biggest takeaway I have from the game.
If you remember this past spring, the Bills hired a
guy by the name of John Perry. And people may
not know that name off the top of their head.
Who is John Perry? The former NFL official And if
(30:44):
there was a criticism of Sean McDermott, it was he
doesn't know how to challenge plays. He doesn't know what
he's doing when it comes to the most critical situation
that can change a game. Well, they hire Perry to
the staff. What happens. Buffalo has two challenges during the game.
They both which is by the way challenging plays in
the preseason. You're almost like, we're good. Just get us
(31:05):
off the field, no injury. We don't need to change.
What do we do into the poor fans to make
them stick around a little bit? They won both, So
that's my biggest takeaway for the Bills. I'll ask that question.
Doesn't that seem like somebody that if you've got an
official on your staff, and whether it's Kansas City, Cincinnati,
the Jets, we've gotten an advantage now that we have
someone who knows the rules that can help us. I
feel like you need a rule guy and a clock guy,
(31:28):
and if coach can turn to the clock guy and
the rule guy, they're better than the get back guy
that almost has the coach on the leash. I think
that's a huge deal for Buffalo and that's gonna be
something that really last to the regular season.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
It's a heck of a positive for you to find
because on the field there wasn't a whole lot of positive.
I think for me, the best positive for the Bills
the game didn't count.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Yeah, that's true. You don't have to look at the
AFC East standings later on and you're like, oh gosh,
that wasn't good. This might be me holding a grudge
with somebody. Marquez, Mark Quez Valdez scandaling and I say
that I'm trying to make sure Mark Quez because he
got mad at me during radio row. We're calling him Marquez.
(32:10):
He's another It's Mark Quez. Make sure you get that
Q in there. He also cost me a fantasy football
game last year. Didn't look great. One target dropped it.
He's supposed to be Patrick Mahomes' big time target. He's
supposed to be the next big addition. Kean Coleman is
still a rookie. The fact that a lot might be
dropped on a young receiving corps, that's a lot to
(32:31):
handle for Buffalo. I know the tight ends are good.
I know Knox and King Kate are good. But boy
Bill's fans, you can either pick this or the offensive line.
I'm gonna give the old line of pass for another baby.
Chicago's just get up front. But the fact that a
lot's gonna be dropped on a rookie class on the
outside means more pressure for Josh Allen and if there's
a criticism of Josh Allens. He's does too much. That
(32:52):
makes me a little concerned. Should I be concerned about that?
For Bill's fans of a lot of pressure on young
dudes on the outside.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
I'd be a lot concerned for the Bills. I mean,
you look at all the good Sean McDermot has done
in his time there. He to me is on the
hot seat because they haven't cleared that hurdle. They haven't
even gotten to the AFC title game, and that's hard
to do, okay, but they've still fallen short. Whether it's
a thirteen second gap in Kansas City a couple of
(33:19):
years ago, a miss field goal last year, it still
hasn't happened. And what he's done is he's raised expectations.
But if I'm him, I'm looking at the front office
and what they did in the off season, or more importantly,
what they didn't do, and I'll say, what are you
guys doing to me? Stefan Diggs has gone, Gave Davis
is gone. You got your friend of the program. Matt
Collins is.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
There, who's a nice player.
Speaker 5 (33:41):
Yeah, he's gonna have to work shoes in Buffalo, right,
He's a nice player not great Marquez okay, but they
didn't do the wide receiver room any favors. And Keyan
Coleman's a rookie who knows who knows? You don't know
what you're gonna get, right. I think the Bills have
taken a step back. They would still be the class
(34:01):
of the division. But Sean mcdermot's on the hot seat
or could you could make the case that he is.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Yeah, the roster isn't as good. That's the thing Bill's
fans like, don't want admit this. The roster isn't as
good as last year. You nailed it, like these are
players who have stuff to prove. Some of them are
extremely young. What you mentioned like the window was open
there for Buffalo. They were supposed to be in a
super Bowl in twenty twenty two, in twenty twenty three.
You can go back even further the thirteen second game
in more, this was already supposed to happen, and because
(34:29):
of finances and because of performance, guys left. So there's
a lot for Bill's fans who had to stress last season.
You mentioned the hot seat stuff with McDermott. Gosh, it
was mid November early December before they went on the
run where people thought McDermott was gonna be out of.
This team did make the postseason and that hasn't changed.
And if a team like the Jets or the Dolphins
(34:50):
claimed the division, we might be in that same spot
next season talking about what did McDermott not do in Buffalo.
Another guy who's I think definitely on the hot seat
for sure is Robert Sala, the head coach of the
New York Jets. This one's a lot harder for me
to get a great storyline off of. And I'm not
trying to dodge Jet fans storylines. They're not trying to
give love to Ganggreen or anything else. It's just a
(35:11):
harder one to figure out because a lot of the
starters didn't even see the field. The Jets still won.
A lot of backups played fine, a lot of third
stringers look good. They scored double digits late to win
that game. I just felt more that cames about Washington
to New York and Daniels look great. This is one
of these games and Sports Center fans will know this.
(35:34):
Remember like when Bronnie James was playing Summer League for
the Lakers and no one knew what the end result
of the game was they just saw the Bronnie James
highlights and then they said, oh, yeah, by the way,
the Lakers lost. That kind of felt like this one.
Like if you had to make two and a half
minutes of highlights of Commanders Jets, you would show a
bunch of Jaden Daniel highlights and say, oh, by the way,
New York won. I don't have much on the Jets.
(35:55):
I'm sorry. Like the third stringers look good, They're deep, wonderful.
That game felt way more about Washington than New York.
Speaker 5 (36:02):
For me, it did, and and Daniel's great start for him,
We'll get in him a little later. I love the
guy from LSU for the Jets. Look for Jet fans
that haven't heard my podcast, I picked them.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
To go to the Super Bowl last year.
Speaker 5 (36:16):
So I came out the day after Aaron Rodgers towards Achilles,
and guess what, I owned it.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
It was on me. Blame me. I could take the
heat all right, because it was a Jenks for me.
The Jets.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
The key to the season is get to the fifth
offensive play opening day, clear that hurdle with your quarterback healthy,
because that's where it begins an end. You got a
super Bowl caliber defense. You got you got Garrett Wilson
on the outside, got Brisols, an emerging running back, Aaron Rodgers.
For the baggage he gives you in the offseason. Once
(36:47):
the season starts, okay, he throws the ball like very
few players ever have. So the Jets really to me
navigate this preseason healthy.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
If I really have to give like an Enzy, he
a one compliment, like Jet fan, this happened during the game,
and you can get super excited about what you saw
from backup players. I'll give you this, the kid Alan
out of the backfield who played at Wisconsin, who you
did draft. He is likely going to take some carries
(37:19):
away from Reese Hall. And I know fantas not I
presall not fantasy football, not the second best running back
according to many sites this year. When you have somebody
like that who is a I want to say, mid
round pick. Yeah, he's ran around fourth, fifth round where
he goes. Actually I believe he was the second to
last pick of the fourth round. I was like, Okay,
(37:39):
the amazing part about Alan out of Wisconsin, who looked good.
He is twenty years old. You're twenty years old. In
the NFL and you're a running back that barely has
anything on his body. Like when you've got running backs
in the NFL, you're twenty three COVID years might push
you to twenty four. A twenty year old running back
who looked like that against grown men. There's your compliment.
(38:03):
Jet fans. If you get sick of breeze Hall Allen
out of Wisconsin, there you go. There's something to get
excited about. And Giant fans you can have to wait,
like to see you saw the Giants this past Thursday
against Detroit. Not much happened in that game. And now
we move on to preseason Week two. And by the way,
the Giants have that odd kickoff on a Saturday as well.
(38:23):
So New York sports fans, there's some storyline sitting out there.
If I had to vote, this is one's gonna hurt
you as a Raider fan. But if I had to
vote for like the storyline that feels like dominated week
one and we'll count the Hall of Fame game in
Week one. One. Athlete one team bon Knicks. He looked
awesome like bone knicks for the Broncos. And I know
you hate the Broncos. Don't leave the studio yet no, no, no
(38:46):
kop in the Broncos forty minutes. That's what I got,
Like on a national scale, the grown man adult Bon Knicks, who,
by the way, is older than Kyle Pitts, who's about
to enter his fourth season in the NFL. He was
the storyline I think of the entire preseason Week one,
he looked great. Everything else is tough to read, So
I'll give bone Nicks the MVP of Week one. By
the way, An o'condall won the MVP of the preseason
(39:07):
last year for your Raiders, So like, quarterback play really
can't have an impact on what happens going into the season.
Speaker 5 (39:13):
Yeah, Bo Nicks, I mean seven years in college, right,
six different systems, I think. Yeah, look, those are the rules. Okay,
good for him, look right at Oregon. We'll see how
he does in the NFL. I don't know if he's
You'll have to put together a few more of those
to get that starting gig. Zach Wilson's already been demoted
to third and barely getting any reps. So that he's
(39:36):
carried on his play from New York out there Jared Stidham, Yeah, okay,
he's a journeyman.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
He's a backup.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
We'll see what bo Nicks hash when it gets going.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
For sure, bon Nicks, if you're in a dynasty league,
Gert keeper Lea trying to grab him. I'm impressed by him.
I do want to remind people that, like you mentioned
Stidham and Zach Wills and everything else, someone's likely not
going to be on that roster in September. Like you
have veterans now, so it doesn't make sense to have
veteran quarterbacks hold the clipboard. Will they bring in a rookie?
(40:06):
Will they have moved for Denver? A lot can change
in the week two and week three the preseason that you
might be impressed by somebody in one game, God forbid,
if he played terribly. He's a busty Steaks, he's the worst.
Oh my gosh, why do we dread that? Also could happen.
So a big old grain of salt when we look
at these preseason things. Let's talk about Lillian David Fine Juliers.

so the show can begin on time and the broadcast
can start is if we thought the future would be predicted.
How this studio is set up is that we share
(46:49):
with Wgy, and usually if I don't hit a button,
Lavack will point to the side and be like, hey,
I got Gy in my headphones. If you listen to
the start of the show, poor shot is listening to
Gy for the first ten seconds. But oh yeah, that's right.
How would he know some random thing that no one
else knows besides me and Levac. Congratulations Matt Bob. If
you thought I would scrip up the tech to start
the show, cash your ticket, Ryan wrote it on Twitter.
(47:11):
Ryan road in how about Sean and GUYZ loving you
Albany and loving Union football in the opening segment of
the show. Meanwhile, here's a live look at RPI in
Hudson Valley Community College. I'm sorry, we could do that tomorrow.
We have love for Hudson Valley, the recruiting that they've done.
We've got love for RPI Twitter stuff. Man. Also, I
(47:34):
saw nineties Kid. I'm gonna back off on that. Nineties
Kid wants you to respond to all of my terrible takes.
Ryan is calling Dibbs on that, so he wants a
whole segment tomorrow of him responding to my terrible takes.
Speaker 5 (47:47):
I'm reading that as we speak. I will respond all
right on Twitter.
Speaker 3 (47:54):
Get the I like that, Get the engagement up. Go
to at Sean underscore Martin seventy seven and see how
he's responding to. Yes, I see Simone Biles. Yes, yes,
I see Wilt aka Walt Chamberlainsaw. That's another digital look
exclusive for you when you're not prepping for the show.
And yes, not only do we prep for the show.
I looked at the show run down today. So take
that Twitter you mentioned these few words. Can Kansas City repeat?
(48:20):
This weekend? My dad and I are gonna do some investments.
We're gonna start figuring out our future place because people
love wagered on sports, investing in sports. I make one
weekend where it's just future plays, sit down, grab lunch
fire off from some futures. Have those investments? Have that
money stowed away for a few months. Let's throw that
(48:40):
question back at you, even though I probably should answer
it first, because you technically asked me. When you look
at this Chief team, do you believe they can repeat
it's the Super Bowl champion? Why or why not?
Speaker 4 (48:49):
No?
Speaker 3 (48:50):
Ooh.
Speaker 5 (48:51):
In the history of the NFL Super Bowl right, fifty
eight super Bowls, no one's ever threepetd. What I love
about that, Look, Pat Mahomes is an all time great quarterback.
I don't think he's got the wide receiver skill set
is not elite. The good he makes them better than
they are. The thing that I'm really really hoping is
(49:12):
that mister Kelsey, And look, Travis Kelsey's that he's a
Hall of Famer.
Speaker 4 (49:16):
He's great.
Speaker 5 (49:17):
He beats my team up twice a year, so he's
I'm no favorite to his. But Travis, your girlfriend, enjoy yourselves,
go to Switzerland, enjoy that eras to where all you can,
because the more you're in the air and the more
you're at those concerts, the less you're thinking about football.
Enjoy the celebrity, enjoy it, soak it in have a
(49:39):
regression season, please, because I'm done.
Speaker 4 (49:42):
I'm I'm tired of the Chiefs. I'm over.
Speaker 3 (49:44):
There is something that's happening to me now because you
are the third person, well, Vank is a Raider fan.
We had people in Mohawk Honda, I'm OPTI show this
past Tuesday talking about this and you, as a Raider fan,
you all saw grouping you all together. Now you all
saw what the Raiders could do it nsity, especially that
Christmas Day game where it felt like Vegas figured out
(50:04):
a formula. And I don't know if coaches are going
to be studying that team for a long time, how
much of it all? Does that play a factor which
we're talking about here, that your Raiders seemed like they
cracked the code, then nobody else could figure out on
the postseason that this is how you beat them, Like
it's almost like a crossword comparisons like the NBA, like
if you want to beat Golden State, then this is
how you do it. This is how you figure it out.
(50:27):
You have a good pass rush, grind the ball a
little bit like it feels like they cracked the code.
And maybe that's played into your factor of why the
Kansasity Chiefs can't do it.
Speaker 5 (50:34):
I mean, the Raiders won that game with two defensive
touchdowns and didn't complete a pass after the first quarter,
but they won the game. They were physical, they punched
them in the mouth. Unfortunately for the rest of the league.
They woke the Chiefs up. That was their last loss
of the year. So but going back to this year,
it's it's hard to repeat much less. And no one's
(50:54):
ever won three in a row in the Super Bowls.
I don't know where it happens, is somehow, I think,
some way, this is the year the Chiefs will fall
back a little bit. They're going to be contenders for
as long as Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are there.
Speaker 4 (51:07):
But three in a row, I think that's too tall.
Speaker 3 (51:09):
In order to ask, I wish by the time we
do our final NFL preview show, which is going to
air on Labor Day and it's going to go to
the digital sign on Liberty Weekend and air on this
side on Labor Day, when you make our final Super
Bowl picks. And we've got some pressure on us because
the last four consecutive NFL season preview shows we did,
we nailed at least one Super Bowl participate between Levac
(51:31):
and I, and for a stretch there, we were hitting
the winners of the Super Bowl. If it's not Kansas City,
then who, Like That's what I struggle with here, try
to find the next team. We just came off a
conversation talking about the Bills. The Bills haven't shown me
the thing that they get over the top of the
postseason yet. Sincinnati's the team who's been able to beat
Kansas City with the epic comeback by Joe Burrow, the
game winning kicking more, but they are loaded in the
(51:54):
AFC North this season. Can the Jets get that far?
Can the Dolphins take the next step? Lamar Jackson hasn't
gotten to a Super Bowl, even though he's a two
time MVP. I always looked at the Cleveland Browns and said,
if you told me I could take a team who
got to the playoffs last season with a third string
running back, a fourth string quarterback, the coach of the year,
the defensive player of the year, I'd probably pick them.
But am I gonna pick the Browns to go to
(52:16):
the Super Bowl? That's my problem? If it's not, maybe
it's the Houston Texans, Like that's the sexy pick this season.
That's what I struggled with Kansas City. If not, then
who And I'm sure those are a bunch of names.
Did one jump out to you and your eyebrows get raised, like, okay, guys,
I think I got one.
Speaker 5 (52:33):
The one I have that comes with a major question mark,
it's Baltimore. They add Derrick Henry right, so now that
now they're their offense is even more round it. But
Jackson being such a such a threat, but he gets
into the playoffs and he's not the same player as
he is in the regular season, and that's there. There's
a little bit of history there now that you draw
(52:54):
back on. It's not something that it's one and done.
It was a one year thing he has He has
struggled in the playoffs for his entire career.
Speaker 4 (53:02):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (53:03):
I still go back to the Jets. I may just
put the whammy on him again this year.
Speaker 4 (53:08):
We'll see.
Speaker 5 (53:09):
But I think with Rogers, if he's healthy, they got
it all. And the coaching staff, I think they're good enough.
Speaker 4 (53:16):
Last year. You have to give the Jets a pass.
Speaker 5 (53:19):
If the Jets last year proved anything that if you
don't have a good backup quarterback, you are playing with
fire because the Jets season ended on their first drive
last year.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
There is something and this is a bit of a
selfish take by me, but this is how I think
of it sometimes. This year's Super Bowl is in New Orleans,
and I think about what a city would be like
with a fan base in that city. So I was
hoping so desperately in my pick last year to win
the Super Bowl was the Buffalo Bills. I would have
loved to see Bill's Mafia invade Vegas and what a
party scene it would be. I be gosh, oh my
(53:50):
memories correct here. I believe one of the four super
Bowls Buffalo played in was in New Orleans. I might
be wrong about that. I thought the third one might
have been. But I would love to see the Bill's
Mafia get down in New Orleans and make it a
week and to celebrate and everything else. But Jet fans
finally getting back to a Super Bowl would be a
lot of fun. I don't know if they know how
to handle themselves. I think it'd be a lot of
(54:11):
fun to see the Jets get there. That What plays
into the Jets, though, is what happened with the Packers,
Like the Packers are great last season without Rogers, they
are a few plays away from taking down the forty
nine Ers who represented the NFC. And there's my one
hope besides my Buccaneers getting there, besides the fan base
having a great time and everything else. Please, I don't
want Chiefs Niners more selfish takes by me. I asked,
(54:35):
I begged. I said, I'm not gone to a Super Bowl.
I've been so fortunate, so thankful to do that to
get cover Radio Row, and that's our playing this year,
to get back out there. I said, all I don't
want is forty nine Ers Chiefs because we saw this
four years ago for pre COVID. Yeah, sure enough, there's
the same super Bowl again.
Speaker 4 (54:52):
Now.
Speaker 5 (54:53):
I'm good with the Chiefs, you know, being a Raider fan,
I'm good the forty nine Ers. I don't have the
acts to rind with them that most Raider fans do
given the former Bay Area rivalry. My issue with the
forty nine Ers is I'm getting tired of watching Kyle
Shannon gag away super Bowls with his coaching. It goes
back to was Atlanta twenty eight to three lead.
Speaker 4 (55:13):
On the Patriots.
Speaker 5 (55:15):
I think he's zero and three, and he wasn't the
head coach then, but still he was playing call and
plays that during that disaster. Yeah, the Jet fans would
be an interesting thing because I don't think I had
an indent in my head when they made the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (55:30):
So that's how long ago it was.
Speaker 3 (55:33):
By the way, Bills fans before they yell at me,
it was Tampa, Minnesota, Pasadena home of the Rose Bowl
in Atlanta, that ninety one Super Bowl where the Giants
Scott Norwood and everything else. Nineteen ninety the season before
was played in New Orleans. That was close by one ear.

Four biggest stories of the day. Here on Monday, August twelfth,
twenty twenty four, we lead off with this the Associated
Presses Top twenty five poll for college football. His hit,
We've got twenty five teams. We could run through the
whole pole. Instead, I'm gonna do this. Let's talk more
college football and about twenty minutes, a nice little preview,
(01:02:02):
deep dive into what we think about this upcoming season
more in a big college football Day. As someone who's
a sports writer for a living along with an author
podcast host. A quadruple threat. Not to take anything away
against the good writers and the wonderful associated presses. I
try to kiss up to them and one day get
a vote for this Top twenty five pool? Does I
feel like to you? The Top twenty foals impact on
(01:02:22):
college football has lessened over the last years because of
the College Football Playoff, Because you know this as a
college football fan, this used to be the most important
thing at one point in the history of the program.
What do you make of the Top twenty five pool
now and what it used to mean for the sport?
Speaker 5 (01:02:39):
I think they're about as relevant as the college basketballs,
which isn't very relevant anymore. It used to be if
you weren't in the top twelve, maybe top fifteen, you
had no shot to get up there.
Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
You needed to win your game.
Speaker 5 (01:02:53):
I've always been a big believer if you win your games,
you'll get to where you want to go. That's not
necessarily true back then when there was in some cases
you didn't even have one against two. You had all
the bowl tie ends, which, by the way, for I
know there's a lot of Penn State people. You should
be happy in ninety four that you got to go
to the Rose Bowl against an inferior Orgon.
Speaker 4 (01:03:14):
Team because Nebrasco to rolled down.
Speaker 5 (01:03:18):
But anyhow, yeah, it's just not as it's not as
important because now you can go win your conference title.
It's it's great conversation to see what people think. But yeah,
it's kind of it's been you can't have all this
other thing going on with the twelve team playoff and
conference re alignment, something's going to be affected. And the
bulls are but they're fun to look at and they're
certainly fun to talk.
Speaker 3 (01:03:39):
Was it Andre Agassi who said perception isn't everything, it's
the only thing. That's what it feels like at times
in the history of college football when we look back
where this is so much about perception. You have the
example there of ninety four. We can run through a
bunch of these where teams were undefeated and didn't get
an opportunity, where teams were lower level programs who just
never had a chance. It's going to be one of
(01:04:00):
these things in the history of sports that when you
explain it to young sports fans of wait, wait, wait,
hang on, so they you voted on it, all right,
So what was the criteria? It was just somebody's opinion.
What do you guys didn't use computers? Now we tried
that how to go not great? What do you mean
the computer? So you only had two teams? What if
there was a third team that just didn't wait await?
So like you'd have seasons where like Georgia and Ohio
(01:04:22):
State and other teams were the four seed and they
just didn't play. Yeah, why well travel they didn't have planes.
But it's hard to explain this to somebody why this
was ever a thing, the top twenty five. It is
all about perception. It is storylines. I used to always
have the take of, if you wanted to not have
a poll until October, I would be fine with it
because everything would be so different by the first four weeks.
(01:04:44):
As long as we all understand why this is a
thing and it's for television, like, let's just all be
your right. Like when you're hyping up preseason games at
August and September, it's a lot more attractive for TV
fans to see a number next to a team like, oh,
they're the tenth best team. Whoa top five team match up?
If you don't have the number no one knows who's good.
It makes it easier to digest for random sports fans
(01:05:07):
who aren't like you and I, who are just flipping
on a TV knowing the storylines. That's it. I say
all that again one more time promoting than My Top
twenty five will be out next week on Fox Sports
nine eighty. Let's move on to story number three. The
Texas Rangers have something to celebrate, the defending World Series champions,
coming off a series of the New York Yankees. Now
I have news today that Max Scherzer, who started less
(01:05:27):
than ten games this season, is coming back to Texas
after he's had his shoulder checked out. Nathan Yuvaldi also
returning to Texas checking with the team physician as well.
Three innings and part of that doubleheader. But we'll see
when he's back officially. Sean Martin Texas Rangers team that
really expectation wise, was talking about, is potentially being back
(01:05:49):
in the mix. This Ranger team in a competitive Al West,
seven and a half games back of Seattle and Houston. Schurzer,
of course, his impact with the New York or lack
thereof the Rangers are right now when you look at
the stadiums. Ten games back in the wild Card. Does
it even matter if these guys are returning to the team.
(01:06:10):
Is it already all over for the Texas Rangers.
Speaker 5 (01:06:12):
It's over three and seven in their last ten Surezer
was supposed to be a depth peace for Team Pugsy
Fantasy Baseball, and he is not. So I'm not really
crying a river about you know him. Okay, that's fine.
Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
Welcome back, But uh no, I think they're done.
Speaker 5 (01:06:28):
I think they had their miracle season last year, a
season or remember their first ever World Series title. Sometimes
it doesn't work out. And you know what, for sures Her,
he's been a great pitcher, a Hall of famer. He
got old. Father time is unbeaten.
Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
That's it. He's a Hall of Famer. He got old.
That happens life. He's got World Series championships, is going
to Cooperstown. He had a great career. He's been the
guy since he's been a teenager, the number one pick.
Sports Illustrated, everyone said, who's this guy? The Diamondbacks are
gonna pick with two colored eyes. He's had a great career.
That's it. Texas has done Texas. When you look back,
whatever sport it is, when people talking I had a
championship hangover or Wyatt team can't repeat. Just look at
(01:07:04):
this Ranger team. Everybody across the American League made more moves,
were hungrier to make it position. They just looked lazy
the entire season. Seattle wanted more. Houston's got a better
farm system. They got the World Series. They probably should
have two if it wasn't for that remarkable Saint Louis Cardinals,
one of the best World Series of all time, at
least the last fifteen years. That what Twice in that
game they're down to the final strike and can't close
(01:07:25):
it out for the first they're done. They're toast. They
had a good run. Houston I thought was toast four
months ago, and here they sit atop the scenae. Other
ways too, on baseball, how about the Padres Diamondbacks getting
hot in the West, only three and a half games
back of the Dodgers. Look Out two young teams who
talk about futures and more, and it's getting a good
race in the National League for some of those final spots.
(01:07:46):
Let's move on to story number two. We talked about
the Jets earlier in the show. If you missed it
in nour number one. Just scroll back a little bit
Apple Spotify the iHeart app. The New York Jets have
officially heard that Hassan Redick wants to be traded. He's
requesting a trade. Not so fast like Lee Carso would say,
my friend is GM. Joe Douglas said, Nah, Hasna Retick
(01:08:09):
has missed out twenty one days of training camp fifty
thousand dollars a day. I'll let someone else do the
math on that. That's just all assume it's a lot
of money. He's due to making non guaranteed fourteen point
two million dollars in base pay in the final year
of his contract. John Martin, what do you make of
the Soana Redick not showing up to camp wanting a
(01:08:29):
new contract, demanding to trade, and Joe Douglas is like,
we're not trading you show up.
Speaker 5 (01:08:35):
I don't understand why the Jets brought him in in
the first place if they weren't going to pay it. Oh, okay,
look now you've added it's a distraction. Teams, don't they
try to eliminate those things once you get into camp, right,
there's always going to be a contract squab o or
a holdout but it sounded like he was.
Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
On the team the last few years.
Speaker 5 (01:08:53):
Why did you bring him in? And now you're playing
hardball with this guy and now you got to deal
with this.
Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
He had trust Joe Douglas and others that said no, no, no,
He told us he was gonna come, He told us
he was gonna play. He lied, and maybe he he
Hassan Reddick may have told you that Hassan Reddick has
an agent who is working at the best interest of
his client and said, I don't care what you told them,
You're getting paid. This should have been figured out. I'm
totally within this. This should have been figured out far
(01:09:20):
before this moment right now. As for the trade, I
love that Joe Douglas said, no, I want this to
happen more in the NFL because the president was set.
Whether it's Drell Reeves, whether it's Emmitt Smith, wherever, you're
going back. If I go on a new contract and
let's fix this. Le'Veon Bell. I wish more organizations would
be like Nope, not like Pittsburgh's the king of this.
(01:09:41):
Pittsburgh for mean Tonio Brown to Leveon Dell and other
is like, we're not paying you to stop asking. The
Jets have paid people before, but not the same GM
and head coach, Good, you signed the deal. You're here
for this. If you don't want to coach, show up
to work. The don't show up. We'll be fine without you.
We're not trading you. And I know there's rumors about
Brandon Ayuk and Asan Reddick and everything else. Good. You're
here to play. And if you're not gonna play, you're
(01:10:03):
not gonna play. You've let's be about a story. Number
one of the New York Yankees take on the Chicago
White Sox. Some would argue it's the best team in
baseball versus the worst team in baseball. The Chicago White
Sox record sits at twenty eight and ninety one, still
pacing to be one of the worst teams ever record
wise in the history of Major League Baseball, while the
(01:10:23):
Yankees trying to do their best to find some separation
atop the Al East involved with the Baltimore Orioles, both
teams sitting atop the leader board seventy and forty nine.
When you look at this series, White Sox and Yankees
is as simple as this. The Bronx Bombers need to
destroy Chicago. Aaron Judge needs to hit multiple home runs.
(01:10:44):
It's almost as if if they don't destroy him, it's
almost like team of USA and men's basketball, women's basketball. Yeah,
you can win, but that's not even the expectation. It's
win and win dominantly against this White Sox team. How
should Yankee fans feel about this matchup with one of
the worst of all time up on the schedule.
Speaker 5 (01:11:00):
Yeah, you want to see your team go out and
hammer them, right, That's what you're supposed to do at
the end of the day, get your wins and get
out of Chicago. The White Sox are a team that
they have a front office not interested in winning. And
even more importantly, we talked about this on the Fantasy
Baseball Now last week. They have players that don't appear
to be interested in winning, the lack of hustle.
Speaker 4 (01:11:19):
They just got their manager fired. It's hard to fight.
Speaker 5 (01:11:22):
It's really bad when a team that knows are going
to be historically bad is so bad that the players
quit and they fire the manager too.
Speaker 4 (01:11:29):
They got to fire a lot of those players.
Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
Does it make you feel a little bit better though?
As an Oakland A's fan, No, No, that they're not
the worst this season. That they're not the Chicago is
the worst this season.
Speaker 4 (01:11:42):
It doesn't make me better. We'll get into the A's.
Speaker 5 (01:11:44):
It doesn't make me feel better because the A's are
a team that don't want to win at least. I
don't know if the White Sox are honking off their
fan base the way the A's have been treated in
their fans all these years. Yeah, it's hard that it's
an interesting contrast between the two teams. I don't think
Jerry rein store for it's interested in winning a lot
of games right there in Chicago now either. So there,
without question the two worst front offices in baseball.
Speaker 4 (01:12:06):
And that's saying a lot with the Miami Marlins.
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
Yes, like the Marlins have had some Okay, that's the
interstrat about actually all three of those A's, White Sox, Marlins,
they've had guys like they have players. They have like
almost all star Kellers. Not a lot, but they have players.
Like the White Sox were poised to be good. That
farm system was ready to be a contender, and they
blew it. And it goes back to I said this
(01:12:30):
little back, and I'll say to you, like Chicago had
everybody quit. They tried everything, they had, the big prospects,
they brought in a Hall of Fame manager, and then
everybody was gone. Tony L. Russ has fallen asleep in
the dugout. Jason Bennetti, whos voice for Fox, left he's
a White Sox. When the broadcaster is leaving, I'm good.
I don't want to work here anymore. It's a bad
sign New York should dominate Chicago. Here's what I would like.
(01:12:51):
I would like Chicago like pull what upset. We'd look
back at the end of the season and be like,
why the Yankees lose the Al East by one game?
Remember they got clipped by the White Sox at all.
And I also want to airn Judge to smash a
home run because, as I mentioned earlier, I'm competing against
Levac And if you want a wager on, you know what,
we didn't do the play of the day. Actually, by
the way, let me pop this down real quick. You
(01:13:12):
want to ride with me here on a play of
the day. Thanks to Mohawks, Chevrolet and Mohawk, I'll get
buyd the Mohawks. Here. Here's my play of the day.
Aaron Judge home run tonight that is my play. Aaron
Judge deep home run, I need it. I'm gonna bet
that a lot this week. Aaron Judge hits home run
number forty three tonight against the Chicago White Sox. That's
my playday I get. This is the fun part about
(01:13:33):
being a filling host. Sean Martin for LEVAC Today in
Top four to four, brought to you again one more
time by Mohawkanda, you get anything you want to pick.

your oyster shell. Martin, give us one play thanks to
Mohawk Chevrolet.
Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
Well, I'm gonna do some a little tricky.
Speaker 3 (01:13:53):
I guess right, You're okay.
Speaker 5 (01:13:55):
I want to say that whoever gave the Raiders over
six and a half this year is absolutely out of
minds are gonna win eleven.
Speaker 4 (01:14:01):
But I'm not gonna do that, Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:14:03):
Wells live in the now for people now looking for
something to do. Tonight, Sonny Gray for the Cardinals at
Cincinnati minus one forty five. Sonny Gray, non Yankee. Sonny
Gray is actually a very good pitcher. Didn't do so
well in the Bronx. Forget that he's good in all
his other stops. The Cardinals are playing pretty good baseball.
(01:14:24):
I like the Cardinals over Andrew Abbit.
Speaker 4 (01:14:26):
And the Reds.
Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
Tonight, I look at Sunny Gray Science a thirty for thirty.
Some psychology needs to be He is so good. He
was so good posted just that one window his whole
Like if you are Sunny Gray or man family members
of Sunny Green, just like, don't bring it up a
Thanksgiving like, oh no, he didn't play for the Yankees.
Just don't mention that it never happened. It never happened.
He's been so good. So those are you plays of
(01:14:47):
the day. Thanks to the Mohawk Chevrolet. We'll talk more
MOHAWKNDI here. By the way, Mohawk Chevrolet were their next Tuesday.
But I love Mohawk Honda as much as I love Chevrolet.
But Mohawkanda takes care of me. My wonderful CRV out
here in the iHeartMedia Parking Lot, love my twenty twenty
four ride the Odyssey as well. We mentioned earlier in
the show. We went off to the Valley Cats game
this weekend. The boys rode comfortably one of them actually
(01:15:09):
fell asleep on the ride back. I don't have the
people know I'm coming from blocks away. I don't have
that vehicle. You have an in law, a cousin, a
friend that has that ride. Tell them to go to
mohawk Kana. Work with people you can trust. During the
car buying experience. Shout out to Greg Johnson and Lindsay
Herod and my got Camick Kenne coming off another vacation,
by the way, that's what you know. You're doing a
great job and people love working with you when you're
(01:15:30):
doing so. I think that's like his third vacation. But
he deserves a man. He's put in the work. Everybody
over there, whether it's John in Service and Nick, Nate,
Ben Grace, everyone crushed it for social media, the selections online.
If you want to check it out, it's people you're
going to continue to go back to. For Car three,
Car four, Car five, Into the future, it's Mohawkana right

you're with you on Lavak and guys and the voice
(01:16:14):
of the camp in the region sports saying Fox Sports
ninety five, nine and nine eighty.
Speaker 6 (01:16:17):
Elevation ten thousand, that's the name to know. Like everybody
you know got a guy, you know what I mean.
That's that's the thing, Like, Hey, who made your website?
I got a guy who does your advertising?
Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
I got a guy.
Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
Well listen the
