Fact it's Lavak and Gozz on ninety five nine Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
It is kind of Levak and Goz. Maybe you heard
his voice, maybe you did it. It's Zach Harris. You've
heard of before on Fox Sports ninety five to nine
and nine eighty. You here on w g Y with
the legendary Joe Gallagher not named at ten am, Setters
and Sundays. He is back, Zach Harris. Welcome, Zach has
been too long. I know you know the studio very well.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
I do know the studio very well, and I know
this powerchair very well. It's kind of weird tandem where
you're working the board and I'm sitting over here on
the other side. It feels weird to me. I don't
know if I can get used to it.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
I know we had to have a discussion. It was
like two cowboys with their pistols in their pockets of
who's gonna run the board?
Speaker 6 (01:03):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
I decided to win that battle just out of comfort,
just out of comfort and out of fear, and the
fear in the sense that we know how the elevation
ten thousand phone lines can get five, six, nine to
eight zero.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
If someone were no, no.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
That's yes, that's right where I was just happy to
see you. Yes, if people could call in and get
real confused about what's going on? Why does the lilevact
sound different? So you are in that's what they call
it in the radio businesses, you know, the powered share
chair one while I stay behind the glass where I'm
supposed to.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
Be, exactly where you're supposed to be.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Three hours of packs sports talk radio today. Let's lead
off with the same topic we let off with yesterday in.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
A far different way.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yesterday, I was yelling and screaming when Ryan McCarthy was
in telling you the sky was officially falling, Cats and
dogs in the streets, anarchy all over the place. After
the New York Yankees got pounded by one of the
worst teams in the history of baseball and statistically the
two thousand twenty four Chicago White Sox, and we played.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
An old school version of realer mirage.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Was there something that really could be taken away from
yesterday's you should say no two days ago blowout victory
for the team from the South Side, or would we
not have any impact of the game. Instead, the New
York Yankees come back last night. They beat Chicago, and
not just beat Chicago, they win forour to one with
(02:27):
a lot of help from Juan Soto. Wan Soto was
the team last night with three home runs, four RBIs,
all four runs scored.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Thank you to Juan Soto.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Zach Harris, I see you have a new by the way,
we don't have to get this up on socio. I
know you've got a New York met tattoo on your body. Correct, yes,
But for the New York Yankees last night, how do
you feel about the performance? Is it still a little
concern fluttering around somewhere? A win's a win too much
on jan So what are your takeaways from last night's
(03:01):
victory for Yankees and Yankee fans? Even though that Met
logos burned onto your shoulder.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
So for Yankees fans, this is probably a feeling that
you've dealt with for this whole entire season. There's two
guys in your lineup, Juan Soto Aaron Judge, and when
they're performing the Yankees are performing. When they're not performing,
guess what, the Yankees aren't performing. So yeah, it's still
concerning for me because last night three home runs for
(03:29):
Juan Soto exactly how the season has gone. When they're performing,
Yankees are winning.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
It's one of these what ifs.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
You know, we could play the what if game, like
what if Wan Soda didn't hit three home runs? What
if the White Sox are better on offense, what if
the White Sox didn't stink?
Speaker 1 (03:44):
What like?
Speaker 4 (03:44):
We could do one hundred what ifs. But the end
result is the Yankees in the game. Wan Soto's really good.
The contract talk can be about whether or not Wan
SODA's gonna get a huge amount of money this offseason.
I'm sure when Scott Boris and companies sit down for
Yank's management with Yankees management and other teams, they're not
gonna bust out the White Sox highlights. There might be
(04:06):
more impactful at bats when we talk about the potential
future of Wan so Although three home runs is very impressive,
no doubt.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Win's a win.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
I know what, Chicago, but I can't come on to
here the day after people are going wild about how
in the work can get destroyed by Chicago and try
to nitpick a victory for the Yankees. When a star
player plays well, When our guy Tommy Cainley five on
ain' soone gets on the mountain, not the best performance
in the history of his career, but it's always fun
to see a five win eight guy out there. When
Aaron Judge continues to get walked, and even though he's
(04:35):
getting walked, he still goes two for three, Yankees win,
Soto's good Judge stays hot, and you see the local
guy play. Those are all victories, victories across the board.
We can't almost chop away a what if what win's
a win? You don't have that Baltimore Catcher, you beat Chicago.
Even though they're like, this would have been a completely
(04:55):
different show for you, Zach, if all of a sudden
the Yankees did lose to Chicago, I'm acting, you know what,
from the rooting interest of this. As an oriole fan,
I am actually fascinated by how different the show could
have been if that did happen.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
I don't even understand what we're talking about here. I
thought we were talking about the New York Yankees not
winning a game against the Chicago White Sox, but World
Series potential. And you want to come on here and say, oh,
it's a different atmosphere.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
They won a game.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
Oh yay, let's enjoy our moral victory. No, this is
the New York Yankees. They're not in it for moral victories.
They're in it for World Series championship rings. Now it
is concerning because they have two guys and nobody else.
Everybody else is underperforming. And now you have your manager
who needs to realize they have to take what's happening
(05:45):
to Aaron Judge at a historically pace of being walked
and kind of reinvigorate this offense in the offensive scheme.
Maybe it's not Bronx bombers anymore. Maybe we need to
use this to our advantage and play some small ball the.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
One benefit the Yankees do get. And you mentioned then
that the expectations of the Yankees every season is to
win the World Series, where a win for Chicago shouldn't
lead a show usually on August Wednesday. It should be
about the prospects that should be coming in, the impact
that's gonna have, what the playoff picture looks like. That's
what happens when you get a odd Monday night performance
in a Tuesday show when it has that historic thing
(06:21):
that hadn't happened more than three times in one hundred years.
And then you come back on a Wednesday and it's
not just the victor over the White Sox, not just
star players playing well. But then you look at the
American League's standings and you see the New York Yankees
for the first time it feels like in a long time,
are alone in first place with a half game lead
over the Baltimore Orioles. The Oriols have now only scored
(06:43):
three runs in their past two games, with losses to
the Nationals in the race. So even though there have
been times this season, no doubt the Yankees have struggled
and looked awful and had one of the worst streaks
in the American League for about a five and a
half week stretch, they're still gosh, that hurt as an
oriiol fan. There's still a top first place now, even
(07:03):
after all those struggles. The Cleveland Guardians statistically have the
best record in the American League, so they would be
the number one seed. But that's a discussion almost that
you can't control right now because of their schedule. Things
seem to be good for the Yankees. Now we can
have the same seesaw happened tomorrow. Let's make this pledge
because you're with me tomorrow, You're with me live from
(07:26):
Rivers Casino Resort. We're gonna be live on with all
the great things see four Andrew Champagne more. Let's make
a pledge to ourselves today involved in this White Socky
Yankee game. If the White Socks win, are we gonna
go crazy on tomorrow's opening segment?
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Are we gonna have we are?
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Okay, we are going to hammer the Yankees like no
tomorrow okay, but there will be a tomorrow and we'll
be hammering.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Them all right.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
I think that's a fair pledge. That's fine. I think
that's you know, we have to change the expectations. We
have to do that because if you look at the
team that played last night in comparison to the team
that played Monday night, there feel like almost two different teams,
almost two different efforts out on the field.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
I think that's fair.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Like if Chicago was just bad, if we just shrugged
the like let's say, for instance, like they're in the
American League East and New York has to play in
double digit times. We might be able to be like, yeah,
that's the team should be, But it happens in baseball.
That happens sometimes a bad team not a ten run
beat down in eighteen hints and leaving sixteen runners on
base everything else, and they're historically bad. Like the whole
(08:28):
discussion of the White Sox is different because I have
historically bad there, So.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
I'm with that.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Like tonight, when we get to the play of the day,
you're more than welcome to fire off a White Sox
Yankee thing. I know you know this was the last
time we did it. You get two plays of the
day of this week. You could pick on that game,
you could pick on another one. You can do a
future wager. I know your rocket some Eagles gear today Instudio,
we could do something with your Eagles in.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
The play day. So just keep that in mind.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
We get to the play of the day that if
you want more chaos, if you're rooting for chaos for
the leadoff for tomorrow's show, you have that option.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Later on in the show.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
I might have to root for the White Sox just
for the purpose of chaos happening. Now I will have
to calm you down on your Orioles, because, let's face it,
after the All Star Break, everything's Topsytorney right now until
we get into the heart of September and October, we're
talking about the Oakland A's being one of the best
teams in the second half, Like, come on, man, like
(09:19):
everything's topsy Attorney right now. So I would calm them
down as an Orioles fan. They got a lot of
young guys on there. They'll pick it back up. Maybe
they hit a little bit of a wall, they'll pick
it back up. But ultimately, when you're talking about the
Oakland A's having one of the best records since the
All Star Break, what are we really talking about here?
Speaker 1 (09:35):
It's insane.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
That's how crazy the All Star post All Star Break
stuff has been with The Diamondbacks have an incredible stretch.
I know they've you know, twenty twenty three National League champions,
but they've been great. The A's, as you mentioned, have
been great. The Tigers have cy young contender on their
team now and that an absolute beat down of the
Mariners last night. There's been some bizarre things happening. But
I do want to go back to somebody you brought
up about the Orioles. Do you know the wager Lavac
(09:57):
and I have about the Yankees and Orioles?
Speaker 5 (09:59):
No, I do not.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
Okay, this is good. There are some people probably listening
today that haven't caught this wager. Here's the wager that's
on the line for a reset. Here of why I'm
sweating in a little bit more nervous. We have a
three way wager going on this year's Yankees Orioles, so
best of three wager number one. So again, the winner
two of three wins the wager. Okay, winner number one.
(10:21):
Who wins this season series between Baltimore and New York
right now, the Orioles, if they win one game of
the remaining games, I will win that side of the bet, okay.
So that's one side of the bet. Second side is
who wins the American League East. If the season ended today,
obviously the Yankees would win, so we'd be split one one.
(10:44):
So that's part two of the bet. Part three is
what team advances further in the postseason. There is a possibility,
because of the extended playoff scenario, that they could tie
in that spot. There's a potential wash in here, but
less likely because of how the bracket will break down
that if one of those teams is either going to
(11:04):
be bounced to the extent wildcard, they're likely going to
play each other in the divisional round. So there's a
chance that one's gonna pay off no matter what. The
loser of this wager has to perform five minutes of
stand up at a local comedy club or some type
of event. So stand up comedy routine is the payoff.
Either Levac or guys being the third person there will
(11:27):
have to Now I said five minutes, I'm pretty sure
the number was five minutes. All I know is a
stand up comedy routine would have to be done.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
That is a horrible spot that you put in for
yourself because doing stand up comedy, while it may look easy,
while we see handsome guys like Matt Rife just peeking
out into crowd and picking on people, it is a
very difficult thing to do. So you put yourself in
quite a predicament.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
It is really difficult, and I think Levac wants to
do it.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
So like there's two ways of this.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
I'd rather have Leavak lose and do it no offense.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
No, no, no, it's okay because like I want Levac.
I think Levak has wanted to do that for a
long time.
Speaker 5 (12:08):
That's on my bucket list to you, right, And.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
I know he's got more material than me. He's showed
off some of his materials, so have I. Here here's
the problem with the bet though, Right, what potentially could happen?
Because Levac more than likely would perform better than me
in that setting, the bar is raised higher for him,
Like if the Orioles pull this thing off, people would
probably want to hear a set from Lvac potentially a
(12:30):
good five to ten minutes because he's been prepared, he's
been waiting for this moment. For me, if I do
lose this wager, the bar is set so low that
once I step on the stage, I think people will
be thrilled that he made it that far. And if
I get a couple chuckles like all right, we're out there.
I feel like how it's setting up could work in
(12:51):
my favor. Now, that's what I've rationalized in my brain
for the last four and a half months to tell
myself whether any semblance of truth is in that set.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
And so I don't know.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
So you can't bomb because you're expected to bomb while
Levac's expected to have a decent set. I understand where
you're coming from, right, Okay, I'm with it. I'm with it,
But yeah, I would rather see Levac no offense to you.
I just think Levac in that setting would outperform you.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Yes, I think it would be a thriving setting from now.
Here's the thing though, I don't know if anyone stepped up.
I maybe our guy Brian Maryana, maybe there's somebody else.
I did toss out the potential of there being a push,
Zach Harris, this could be your moment here where if
there is a push, do you somehow win the wager?
You know what, That's one of my favorite things to
do when two people are wagering and somehow there's possibly
(13:37):
for a tie, somebody else gets involved. Do you have
anything you'd like to be involved in here that if
somehow would see Orioles Yankees one one one Zach Harris
benefits from this. How would you like to benefit, if
at all, from this wager?
Speaker 5 (13:49):
I think the only outcome of this is if you
get a stalemate one one one, whatever it works to
wash you both should do a set Ooh doesn't have
to be a tandem you can go on for two
and a half three minutes, and you gotta do five minutes.
You can't do two and a half three minutes. You
can't get rolling. The first like minute is just introduction.
(14:10):
You guys got to get five minutes. So I need
five minutes from both of you guys. If it's a wash.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
I kind of like, oh man, I kind of liked
the funny aspect of potentially us as a tandem team
up there, like the Scalar brothers would Hostello.
Speaker 5 (14:24):
I think, well, Vac wouldn't even let you get a
word in. He'd just be picking on you the whole time.
I think i'd get some great stuff in there. I
think i'd get some t he's and ha has. I
think i'd like to play.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
That probably would be as funny as the actual thing,
like trying to see if Gos gets anything in.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
You know what, all right, I will Terra away pants.
You gotta wear Terraway pants, all right. I don't know why,
but it's on my mind. Terraway pants.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
It's easy, get a laugh real quick out of the gates,
rippling the pants off. All right, I'll send that when
he's back on Monday. I'll submit that proposal of what
if there's actually a tie, because they could tie it
top the Al East, they can't tie the season series
more than it's very unlikely because of that, where I
could break down two of the bets will payoff, So
very interesting things to figure out again. The Yankees and
White Sox continue that series tonight. We'll give you a
(15:07):
pick on that game, maybe more than likely coming up
in our Play of the day at four forty five.
Coming up, we've got some breaking news in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (19:58):
Eh, I wouldn't bet your money on it.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
All right, Fair enough there, Let's talk about the quarterback
injury that happened to the NFL. We've got breaking dues
involving this QB, who I would say was projected to
be a starter at some point this season. Then, is
National Championship quarterback first round draft pick Jane J.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
McCarthy.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
According to multiple reports, McCarthy, as it's been described, was
injured at some point during the Vikings matchup against the Raiders.
No specific play had been mentioned, but yesterday the report
was that he had a tornmentiscus, and we've seen some
athletes with a tornmentiscus have the timetable of recovery be
anywhere between four weeks to two months. According to other outlets.
(20:43):
When surgery began, a problem was found and uh oh,
there's a little bit more repair than we realized during
this Again, that's some media outlets have been reporting that
once they got in, this becomes a six month recovery time.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
That's the season for j. J. McCarthy. Are we get
into what it means for the Vikings.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Let's get your initial reactions hearing the news that JJ
McCarthy out for this season for the Vikings.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
First of all, that's terrible news because you never want
to see a young guy start off their career with
an injury, having the red shirt quote unquote red shirt
for the year. But I do like it for him
because now he gets to sit back and learn behind
a veteran quarterback. He's got an offensive minded head coach,
he's got weapons there. He can take more time and
(21:29):
get focused on the playbook. Now I'm not saying Aaron
Rodgers Jordan Love type of deal, but for him to
be able to sit and take his time learning to playbook,
next season he can go in not having to think
he knows the plays. He can go out and just play. Now,
as far as Sam Darnald goes, I'm a huge Sam
Darnald fan. I've always been a huge Sam Darnald Field.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
I feel like the.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
Jets absolutely ruined him. But I'm still a fan because
I could see what he can do when he's on
the field. And I will say for those of you
that are betting against Sam Donald, just remember Baker Mayfield
was in Carolina with Sam Donald. One bombed in Carolina.
One not so much. One just got paid one hundred
(22:14):
million dollars, the others on a ten million dollar.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
McDill yeah, yeah, uh to McCarthy yesterday and uh Ryan
McCarthy got this piece of it. It's amazing to think
about the people who I don't know. Do you follow
some of these people on social media that break down
the film I called it NFL film Land, the Brian Baldingers,
the Dana Orlowski's, the chase datas now on your feet,
You just get like random tape. Do you see some
(22:39):
of these people popping up on your feed sometimes on
social media?
Speaker 5 (22:42):
I do watching them, So.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Yeah, right, it's interesting. It's different.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
Everybody was going nuts about JJ McCarthy's first game. They
were saying he was the most impressive quarterback of any
rookie because he handled the blitz well. Now, whether that's
the offensive line for the vikings not picking up the blitzes.
Maybe it was a mccarth, whatever the case was, And
sometimes it's just six on five and you gotta step
in and take the hit. Everybody who breaks down film
(23:07):
was so impressed by JJ McCarthy. And then we again,
I have to add this part, that's great until he's
getting hit. Now now he's got a tour. Hey, he's
doing a great job taking those hits in the pocket.
He just blew out his knee.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Not his fun now.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
And when you're watching the tape on Twitter and people
seeing breakdowns of how Greaty's doing in protection compared to
your seasons over because you're getting blasted as your offensive
the line doesn't know what they're doing. So I feel
for McCarthy just like you do, not just because his
career might feel a bit different now and the questions
of the word injury prone are gonna loom over him.
(23:43):
If you're right, I don't do that.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Don't do that.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
I did it yesterday where I was like, injury prone
is one of the words that drives me insane in
sports because it makes no sense, like, Okay, McCarthy got hurt,
so now we think you can get hurt again. So
one guy goes seven years without getting hurt. The same
risk of injuries out there, you know who's not injury
pron shows like to remind people the little art injury
are the people who don't play. They are not gonna
(24:08):
get so guys who play can get hurt. You're playing football.
It's so frustrating that term injury prone. But because it
is the Vikings, and you know this is an Eagle fan,
the Vikings had this happen with Sam Bradford, Like Sam
Bradford was supposed to be their guy, and then a
trade goes down and then a Bradford required from your
Eagles gets hurt. Case Keenum's the guy and then ends
(24:31):
up being Keenum's team. He almost gets him to a
super Bowl. So the injuries thing drives me crazy because
now he has this loomover. So that the other part
of the JJ McCarthy injury that's frustrating is that there
are some Jane J. McCarthy haters, whether they're Ohio State fans,
whether they're anti Michigan fans, maybe NFL draft critiquers, or
they're like, you know, McCarthy didn't throw the ball in
(24:51):
a second half last year. You know, McCarthy had like
double digit NFL guys around to me, you know, he
had one of the top five winning his coaches in
the history of the NFL win percentage wise, in Jim Harbaugh.
That's why he's good. He had an opportunity to silence
the haters. And as you point it out, now he's
got to wait. Now, he's gotta wait till twenty twenty five.
(25:11):
And you mentioned your loves for Sam Donald, Like when
he was drafted by the Jets, I believe he was
twenty years old twenty so he's twenty years old entering
the NFL. That's a true sophomore at times on some
college teams. He was a professional at twenty years old
because of how quickly he went to the NFL after
(25:32):
success for USC. You mentioned his struggles with the Panthers.
The Niners loved him last year. Now, whether that's motivating
Brock Party, whether it's Conn, there was a real battle
for Donald and Perty and they felt coverable Donald running this.
Do I think Sam Donald's gonna lead the Fuckings to
the postseason?
Speaker 9 (25:49):
No?
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Do I think if you're in a two quarterback league
in fantasy football, could you survive if you're in a
ten team league with Donald a few weeks, yeah, probably.
Speaker 6 (25:58):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
If I had to make a perdiction about the Vikings, though,
they may have booked themselves as the worst team in
the NFL now, and I think it's less about talent
and more about the division because that division is stacked
with the Lions, Packers, and Bears like those are.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Right right, like those are three All those teams could
be in the postseason.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Now, I think the Vikings will not be the team
them and the Patriots battling for the worst record in
the NFL.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
I wouldn't go that far. I don't think the Vikings
are going to be the worst team in the NFL.
But I also don't think they're going to be a
playoff team because of that division, because how difficult it is.
Although it all depends on how the schedule falls, it
depends on are these teams that we think are really
good actually really good? You know, the Vikings. For Sam Darnold,
(26:43):
you have an offensive mind to coach. You have the
best weapons outside of San Francisco, where he started one
game meaningless game at the end of the year. You
have your best weapons around you. DJ Hockinson Justin Jefferson,
Jordan Addison if that ever gets solved, and then Aaron Jones.
You have enough there to make a push towards playoff
contending and that's honestly all you can ask for from
(27:06):
that standpoint.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Ask you a tough question here, more snake bitten franchise.
You know by snake bitting, we're talking about things seem
to always go wrong when they're not supposed to e
Zach Harris power ranking here. I'm gonna give you three teams.
I'll let you think about it here, so the most heartbreak,
bad luck, things never go in their favor of these
three teams Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
I can go first if you want. I know my order. Ooh, okay,
what you got?
Speaker 5 (27:39):
Bill's Vikings, Jets.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
So Bill's one, Vikings two, Jets three? Correct? Why that order?
Speaker 5 (27:46):
Four straight super bowls, four straight losses. It gets forgotten
how hard it is to get to a super Bowl.
I feel for them because not one of those four
games broke their way, include to Scott Norwood kick.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
That's tough.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
That is heartbreaking when you get a Hall of Fame
quarterback and you just for whatever reason can't get over
the hump. Now you have a guy that not saying
he's Hall of Fame. Yeah, obviously he's still ascending. But
you have a top tier quarterback and you still can't
get over the hump. Number two Vikings. They've had talent come,
they've had talent go. They've tried to do things every
(28:26):
which way. They've tried to follow trends in the league
to win. They just weren't able to get it done.
Number three Jets clear obvious three. If you don't put
Jets three, I can't be friends with you because they
do it to themselves. Yeah, you can't draft Zach Wilson,
you can't draft Sam Darnold and not put a team
around them. Don't expect them to be a savior and
(28:48):
leave twelve random men to the Promised Land. You have
to put the right people around them. So that's why
the Jets for me are three, because most of the
pain and agony is self inflicted. Aaron Rodgers thing, obviously
they had no control, but everything else self inflicted.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
I love to argue with power rankings, especially when they
come out from outlets that aren't us here at Fox Sports.
Sometimes it feels like power rankings. I just always want
to push back on them because the rationale behind some
is stupid.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
I love your list. That's exactly what I would have
I had a little bit more. And maybe the way
you were thinking.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
About this too is that those moments you spotlighted are
exactly behind that list. Is what it is like the
level of heartbreak. Gosh, this feels awful to rub these
innath these fan base, but.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
The level of heartbreak, like, oh you thought it was bad?
Speaker 8 (29:40):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (29:41):
We lost four Super Bowls in a row.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Have you heard about thirteen Seconds? Have you heard about
the more recent one where we had Kansas City beat
and Mahomes beat and we didn't get it done. Did
you hear about the one time where we were gonna
have Damar Hamlin run that weird Disney play because McDermott
thought he was in a Disney movie and we ran
the fake You guys are yeah, that happened in a
real thing. We could keep running. Like even when they
(30:04):
finally broke the drought of not going to the postseason,
they almost needed a miracle. They basically did that Cincinnati
come back. In the moment of them breaking the drought
and getting back to the postseason. Yep, Buffalo is won.
Here's the thing with Minnesota, like those plays that we
talked about there with Buffalo, in those moments in those games,
Minnesota has more than the Jets. Minnesota has the Gary
(30:26):
Anderson miss in the NFC Tuttle Game when he didn't
miss a single kick the entire year. Gary Anderson to
pull the old boomer in DJ from Primetime, Gary Anderson
from Syracuse missus the kick. Remember Blair Walsh. Remember that
one year Blair Walsh and Minnesota's played in the Golden
Gophers Stadium and Blair Walsh has got like a thirty
two yard or might even be like a twenty eight yarder,
(30:48):
shanked it, shanked it.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Minnesota misses on that.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
They have the Minnesota miracle with Stefan Diggs where they
get absolutely smoked by your Philadelphia Eagles in that NFC
title game where that super Bowl that season was going
to be in Minnesota. The Jets like it feels like,
as you laid out very well, Zach, it's not the moments,
it's not the games, it's why did you do this?
(31:12):
Why did we draft him, why did we assign him?
Why did we make that the call? It feels more
about bad ownership and bad decisions rather than the moments
breaking your heart.
Speaker 5 (31:22):
So I'm with you on the list and look at
Hassan Reddick for no further like, how are you going
to trade for a guy that wants a new contract,
knowing that he's demanding a new contract and just expect, Oh,
where the Jets. You're gonna be fine, You're gonna step
on that field. Come on, hindsight didn't need to be
fifty to fifty. You knew what it was going into
(31:44):
the trade.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
Let's talk about that for a thing. I want to
stay here. You should, we'd we'd break. But I like
this style we're doing here. Zach Harris. By the way,
in for lavak here on lavak Ja's Fox Sports ninety five,
nine to nine eighty.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
You've seen Hassan Redick play. You know how good he
can be.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
I believe he's got the temple cann I a Philly
guy who played his college ball there. I believe a
quarterback in high school and then converted it one.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
But my gosh, what a freak. Uh So you saw that.
I feel like you're with everybody else that why did
you do the trade like this? Is on you again.
You know how good Reddick can be. It feels like
to me, they're not gonna budge.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
But you have a little bit different perspective on this,
potentially because you see how good he can be, you
watched and do it for one of your favorite teams.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
I will put it two ways. Hassan Reddick is one
of the best pass rushers in the league. Deserves to
get paid. Whether that's twenty five million a year, that
remains to be seen. Like they always say, you're only
worth what somebody's willing to pay you. Secondly, Hassan Reddick,
and I hope he's not listening because he's an angry.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Guy, and I hope, I hope he is listening.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
Watching him with the Eagles, he was stat driven. And
I'm gonna say it. I'm gonna say it straight up.
He was stat driven. Now, a lot of these new
guys are like when we play pickup ball, are you
not keeping stats in your head or you're not saying, oh,
I'm one for three, blah blah blah. This guy was
so driven by stats, knowing that sack numbers matter to
(33:09):
a point that's gonna.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Lead you to get paid.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
We saw it with hard knocks with the New York Giants,
how they're like, how is his quarterback pressures? And then
all of a sudden, buddy goes, But what about a
sack numbers? Like quarterback pressures matter. Sack numbers is what
people see you to get paid.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
And that insight on that is very I want to
say offensive driven. Like no, no, what you're saying is
spot on. But like I think we as people who
watch football, who listen to football, when we hear about
what you're talking about about people being stands driven, it's
more about a quarterback, running back, wide receiver. Because a
quarterback won't make a throw because they don't want to
seem to be a turnover machine, like they won't force
(33:50):
exactly right, Like there are times if you want to
critique Aaron Rodgers, he may not force a lot of
throws because.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
He doesn't want to turn over the I mean hit.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
I believe he's either first or second for most can
saycutive games or consecutive throws without a turnover, and when
it was broken, it was tipped at the line. So
like Rogers is known for something like that, basketball is
the best of all time with it comes to stats,
stuffers because dudes are bouncing the ball off the backboard
for triple doubles. As a defensive lineman, to your point
about him being a stat chaser a numbers guy, it
(34:20):
could actually be dangerous when you're doing that in the
D line because let's say, for instance, the calls like, hey,
you're gonna go get the quarterback and you going do it. Okay,
that's fine, but all of a sudden, the defensive scheme changes. Hey,
Hassan Riddick, you've got to take a double team on
this play.
Speaker 5 (34:34):
Nah.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
Oh yeah, exactly. Nah, that doesn't pop up on film. Nah,
that's gonna pop up and stays. You gotta be careful
on the D line when those dudes are going after
stats because it can blow up at an entire r defense.
And if that's the case, that Hassan Redick is going
to be a dude that's chased now for the numbers
to keep getting paid. The Jets don't have to pay him.
The Jets don't need him. He's a fantastic player.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
This is all in them.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
Like we touched on about the teams of heartbreak, you
knew this potentially could be an issue for the Jets
and down he's there. I'll ask you this point five
point five over under games as a New York Jet
in twenty twenty four, Hassan Reddick plays.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
Over why over because ultimately, if he wants to get paid,
he's got to play. And what point that's gonna be
remains to be seen. But at some point if he
wants other teams or even the Jets to be involved
in paying him, he's gotta show it on the field.
(35:37):
Enough is enough. There's a business side to it, and
then there's a go out and play and let the
business take care of itself. At some point those two
are gonna intersect and you're gonna.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Have to go out and play. Either.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
We're very, very smart. Either we've worked with each other
now long enough that we keep a green. It's wonderful.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
I enjoy this. The answer is over. The answer is over.
They're not gonna pay him. They're not gonna like we're
doing the Brandon Ayuk thing.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
Actually, before we came on today, I thought this was
gonna be the spot we're gonna do Brandon and Ayuk
and all the rumors about everything going on there Brandon Ayuk,
at least there's rumors of you know what Pittsburgh is interested.
You know what Cleveland's interested. New England's interested. Whether that's
an agent playing hardball, whether that's a team trying to
use leverage with the media, canna use whatever you want.
The reports to be. There are reports that people are interested.
(36:22):
Have you heard anybody interested in Hassan Redick? I haven't
even heard, like, oh, the Jets are thinking about dealing
him to Tampa Carolina. I haven't even heard it. So
the fact that the interest of Hassan Redik is low,
maybe playing it out for leverage. The fact that Joe
Douglas has publicly said we're not doing it good, Yes,
(36:42):
I take the Overfassan Reddick wants to get paid. He's
got one more chance at it to go get it.
If he's so great, So Stanchriven such a fantastic pass rusher,
go do it this season.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Why wouldn't you want to do it there? You've seen
what Bryce Huff did and he didn't even play all
the time, and now he gets a big contract with
the unquote potential. Look what you could do in that
defense with Robert Salad there, great defensive minded player, quarterback.
Whatever you get in there, you do what you do,
you could eventually get paid out.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
My guess disease got somebody in his ear saying you're thirty, Like, hey,
the money, okay. I mean if that's this is why
it's so frushent with the agents, right guarantee it.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Now there you go.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Like some agents are saying, go get paid right now.
If they really want you that band, get your money
right now. My job is to have the best interest
of my client, the best interest of my clients. Get
paid now. You're not going to camp. Some would argue
that's a bad agent. Someone say that's the perfect agent.
And I think it's more of an opinion of where
you want to get your money and how quickly, because
there are people like you're talking about Zach where it's like, okay,
(37:43):
let's go earn it, let's go get some let's go
get our money.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (37:46):
Can I do a fourth wall break right here? Ooh okay,
Hassan Reddick's agent. I understand what your job is, but
I'm gonna tell you right now. Look at what Brian
Bird's and the Carolina Panthers went through. It went from
two first round picks to a second round and a
fifth round. The value is not out there. Regardless of
(38:06):
how talented he may be. He is in a hostile position,
being held hostage by the Jets, and only way to
play is either to sit out the season or tell
your man you know you're in your thirty Go out there,
ball out. We'll take care of the rest. After the
season ends, you can choose wherever the heck you want
to go.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Whenever Hassan Rennick comes back, whether it's for the Gets,
whether it's somebody else, the energy is going to be high.
He should be fired up, whether he's got a new
contractor he's got something to prove. When I think about
high energy, when I think about getting that boost that
you need, our friends over at C four will give
you that boost. Zachers, I apologize I should have given
you a C four today.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
I believe you're a fan of C four as well.
I've seen those floating around here in studio. Unless our
other Zach has been framing you for drinking those C
Force C four popsicle flavors are out. I've been having
the cherry the last couple of days. They're all great flavors,
they all taste great, but there is something different about
that cherry pop hit. If you're going to Stewart's or Speedway,
grab yourself the popsicle flavor Cherry. That is the best

our number one.
Speaker 4 (43:27):
Not quite in the books yet, CALLI our wonderful voice.
Lady tells us is lavakas that's the name of the show.
But it's been different all week longer almost to the
halfway point of Humpedy. Our guys, Zach Harris. You hear
him on WGY with Joe Gallagher nine to ten Saturdays
and Sundays. You've heard him across Fox Sports in the
past as well. He's feeling in for Lavac today. He's
in the one power chairs they call into the radio business.
(43:49):
Zach adda Tea's going into this break about this player
that might be having an impact on the AFC East.
And I'm curious if maybe I've overrated this player and
someone's he's been overrated since the moment he walked into
the league.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Think about this.
Speaker 4 (44:03):
It is now August, and there was a long time
seven years, eight years that if you and I did
the show in twenty eighteen together, twenty nineteen together, I
believe it was a requirement that if you hosted sports
talk radio in New York and it was the summer,
you had to talk about Odell Beckham Junior.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
Like that was the rule. Like what did he do today?
Speaker 4 (44:25):
What do you mean he gave great answers about his contract? No,
what do you mean him made a great catch?
Speaker 9 (44:30):
Bah?
Speaker 1 (44:31):
What do you mean he didn't show up at Confland
says he saw ba, Like we had to do it.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
It was a part of the contract. I believe about
Odell Beckham Junior. I want to know, and maybe you
said the silent to yourself. How many people remember that
Odell Beckham Junior is a part of the Miami Dolphins.
Odell Beckham Junior is on the Dolphins this season. So
the Dolphins a team? What one went away from winning
the AFC East last season? An offensive Guru and Mike
(44:58):
McDaniel tyreek Hill going for the single season receiving record
MVP caliber Star before he got injured. Tua leading the
league in passing yards last season and now he's got
a fat new contract. Odell Giant fan, don't hold your
breath here. He's been missing practice recently for an injury.
Speaker 1 (45:17):
Oh no, that's right.
Speaker 4 (45:19):
The Dolphins are not stressing to him to get back
in the field, even though two is said quotes at
the local media of we really haven't run the rountes
we've needed to run. We're just doing timing routes, not
really what you need right now. We haven't got enough
reps in Maybe I'm over evaluating the impact of Odell
Beckham Junior. Zach Harriss, do you feel like he'll have
a big impact for the Dolphins potentially to swing to
the division or the best days of Odell Beckham Junior
(45:41):
behind him?
Speaker 5 (45:41):
I think he'll have a solid impact. He understands his role.
He's number three now, He's not number one, not number two,
He's number three, and as that he can thrive. As
long as he's healthy and on the field to produce,
he will make a great number three. If you remember
back to the Super Bowl, he played outstanding in a
little bit of time. You know, a couple of catches,
(46:03):
fifty yards, whatever the case may have been. That was
exactly what they needed in that moment. And I think
Odell could be that, especially when you got Jalen Waddle
and Tyreek Hill one A and one B or whatever
you want to call him. Maybe you don't want to
call Jalen Wattle and one B, but you know he's
up there.
Speaker 4 (46:21):
This is probably too high a praise, but people are
gonna understand the comparison to in here, Like there are
certain athletes in the history of their careers that because
they performed so high in the most important moments of
their career, we re evaluate how we viewed them as
an athlete. Like Quickly Robert or big Shot Bob Go.
Look at his career stats. I had to double check
them because I always knew he had the big moments
in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (46:40):
Do you think about it?
Speaker 8 (46:41):
Right?
Speaker 1 (46:42):
Like Madison Bumgarner.
Speaker 4 (46:43):
People would probab ask if he saw a Hall of
Famer because he was so good in baseball and some
of the biggest moments that they needed. But now because
of injuries and post giants. It's probably not gonna be
Cooper's town for Madison Bob Garner, but his stats are
right there, like that's how good he's been football. Terrell
Davis is a Hall of Famer, but Dave us his
best numbers came in those late stretches with the Broncos
in ninety eight and ninety nine. But when they needed
(47:04):
him the most, he was a huge reason, maybe some
would say the reason why John Elway and those Bronco
teams won the Super Bowl. You mentioned the Super Bowl
for Odell. He was gonna win the MVP of that game.
Like Odell Beckham Junior was the best player on the
field that he blows out his knee. This is an
entire season he was pacing who had the best game
of his career on the biggest stage.
Speaker 5 (47:23):
I think at that point it was only like four
catches fifty yards or something, but he was clearly the
best player on the field at that moment.
Speaker 4 (47:30):
And if I remember correctly, Cooper Cupp did win the
MVP of that game, the Super Bowl MVP, so Odell
was out playing not just everybody else on the field,
but his own position too, So it would have been
him for the rest of the game, so he had that.
And of course there's many Giant fans remember the legendary
catch heads on Sunday Night Football, Levac. If he was here,
he would remind me, as he most often does, people
(47:51):
forget the Giants lost that game, as legendary as the
catch was. Odell was a part of the Ravens last season.
Lamar Jackson won the nd VP. But if we looked
back for the Ravens in twenty twenty three, a lot
of the times, if we did, we just came off
a power ranking segment a lot of times to call
the Ravens the best team in the NFL, maybe more
so than any other team. Throughout the season. The Chiefs
(48:11):
won the Super Bowl, but the Chiefs didn't always look
as good as the Ravens. Odell helped the team, but
he wasn't an All Pro. Wasn't, as he said, the
number one or two. I don't know if people are
for you can see fantasy football's on my mind. I
don't know how often people are starting him on fantasy football.
But Odell Beckham no, right, like he's not a starter anymore.
So do I think Odell could potentially have a breakout
(48:33):
game where he goes for eighty yards five catches in
a touchdown of the Dolphins win by seven.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
Sure? Do I think that could be good enough to
decide the division? Kind of?
Speaker 4 (48:45):
But that you know, I'm almost like hedging my own bet.
Do I think Odell Beckham Junior can have a big
enough game to against the Jets and the Bills to
decide the outcome?
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Yeah? Could that outcome decide it? Yes? Does that mean
Oldell Beckham Junior is gonna have a good season?
Speaker 9 (48:59):
No?
Speaker 1 (49:00):
Like so no to a good season?
Speaker 4 (49:02):
Yes, he can decide to the division because he still
has that speed and still has that athleticism out there.
Speaker 5 (49:06):
Would you settle for forty catches, six hundred yards and
let's say five touchdowns? Gosh, it's a pass heavy offense.
Hyreek Hill could have been MVP if he stayed healthy.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
I'm just assuming here, I'm just throwing. I'm just gonna
throw random numbers out here. Let's say tyreek Hill goes
for seventeen hundred yards. Let's say Jalen Wattle goes for
thirteen Odell's got you said six hundred, six hundred. Gosh,
that's probably on pace and you've got an okay backfield,
that's you know, that's probably spot on. Yes, I think
i'd probably move the number from forty is pretty good,
(49:45):
you know what, I'm really nitpicky now, I'd probably move
it forty to fifty. But everything else is right. Yes,
I think that's a very average good season that can
help the Dolphins in the division.
Speaker 5 (49:54):
Absolutely, twelve yards a catch, I think that's reasonable. So
maybe fifty catches more likely?
Speaker 12 (50:00):
Yea.
Speaker 4 (50:00):
And if he does that, then Miami can be talked
about as the division favorite. Miami can talk about is
winning the division. Like Look, there was a part last
season where a Buffalo looked like they weren't going to
make the postseason. There was a time last season pre
Aaron Rodgers injury where people thought the Jets were gonna
represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. So all those
expectations have changed. It's this is what happens. Right when
(50:20):
we host on a sports talk radio show in New York,
we have just friends and family members and people who
listen who are more so Jet and Bill fan than
Dolphin fan. That west forget about the Dolphins and how
good they were. So yeah, I think it would frustrate
Giant fan though, like, if Odell was actually good, and
I know some won't give it up that Molik Neighbors
(50:43):
hopefully will wash that away.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
Maybe that's what they need.
Speaker 4 (50:45):
Zach Harris is feeling for the fact today, if Malik
Neighbors has a good season, they're not.
Speaker 1 (50:50):
Gonna care about Odell. Like, we we're good. That's five
years ago. Guys.
Speaker 4 (50:53):
He played for Cleveland, he played for the Rams, he
played for who they played for? The Dolphins. All right,
we're done with Odell.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
It go.
Speaker 1 (51:00):
We got mylak Neighbors. We're fine. Kenny Galladay didn't work out,
We're good.
Speaker 5 (51:04):
I'm gonna tell you right now, Neighbors is a dog.
If you haven't gotten a neighbors jersey, get a neighbor's jersey,
because I don't care what you thought of Daniel Jones.
He's gonna have the type of impact for Daniel Jones
that OBJ had for Eli Manning. And if you don't remember,
he basically extended Eli Manning's career to the point where
(51:24):
that Giants team went down to toilet because they thought
they were closer to contending than they actually were. And
I feel Neighbors is going to do the same exact
thing for Daniel Jones. We might get all excited about
Daniel Jones again because Malik Neighbors.
Speaker 1 (51:39):
Is a dog.
Speaker 4 (51:41):
He's awesome, He's so good. All three of those guys,
Marvin Harrison Junior, Roma, DOONSA, and Neighbors just watching them
in college, Like Marvin Harrison, Jay was so good, Like
from the moment he stepp foot on campus a Duneesa
got the Washington Huskies is a huge reason why they
played in the National Chammpionship last season and the league.
(52:02):
Neighbors is an LS wide receiver in the same breath
now as guys who have been top tier players in
Chase and Jefferson and others, like he's in an Odel
Odells and else. You guy like he's in that discussion now,
I like bearded Daniel Jones. By the way, it feels
like the evil doer Daniel Jones. Now, Zack has a beard.
For those that can't see it, I have a beard.
Lavac has a beard. There is something more tough, more
(52:25):
manly about bearded. Don't shave the beard, Daniel Jones. I
think it's making him a tougher guy.
Speaker 5 (52:30):
Now, all of a sudden, the ladies won his autograph. Yeah,
a last swagger. He needs that swagger bring it on
the field. I've always said this about Daniel Jones, and
most people will call me a Daniel Jones hater. I
compare Daniel Jones to Alex Smith. It's a guy you
can win with if you have the right team built
around him. But I'm not gonna pay for a guy
(52:51):
that I need everything including the weather to be perfect
around him. So this is a big season for him
and Molik Neighbors could be that guy that makes up
good enough where the Giants say, eh, maybe we shouldn't
move on from him and be stuck in that loophole
all over again.
Speaker 4 (53:08):
Nice little plug by on the way, Giants fans, don't
forget the next Giant is this Saturday, and you can
hear all the action on our sister's station. Picks one
oh six are covered?
Speaker 1 (53:17):

which is the preseason spread around. So again, don't forget.
You can hear all the Giants action on our sister's station.
Picks one oh six Are you ready. Zach Harris coming
up the top four to four the four biggest stories.
Speaker 1 (53:36):
In the world of sports.
Speaker 5 (53:37):
Yeah, do I get to scream it?
Speaker 1 (53:39):
Oh? Everybody?
Speaker 5 (53:41):
I mean everybody else screams, so I figured might as
well ask you know.
Speaker 4 (53:44):
What, Yes, you get to scream it out. Next people
see you know what. I love that the people want
to scream out four. People want calls from Corey and Greenwich.
People want to hear horrible takes from me. Well, I
vacing guys is a brand. You hear that bosses. I
don't think the boss, Well, it's probably too much of
an inside joke of whether or not our boss is
(54:06):
hearing this. Today, we'll have more on the way.
Speaker 12 (54:08):
Next.
