Speaker 1 (00:02):
It's time for the top four four with Levac and guz.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Zach Harris in for Levac today for the top four
to four, but Zach wants to do something. How we
start the top four to four? Go right ahead, Zach four.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
I was nervous. I almost set five.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
I think it might be better than Ryan's yesterday. Sean Martin,
I don't think he did it. It is now part
of the passing, dares say of the torch. That might
be too far of doing the top four to four
on Levack and guys, the four biggest stories in the
world of sports. We do it here every single weekday
at four o'clock thanks to our friends in mohawk Kanda, Mohawkanda,
where they always go out of their way to please you.

(00:40):
Today's Wednesday, August fourteenth, twenty twenty four. The four biggest
stories in the world of the sports going on right now?
Let's start which story number four? It involves the NFL.
How about this one? Ravens tight end Mark Andrews avoids
injury in a serious car accident today, the tight end
for the Baltimore Ravens, one of the top tight ends
in the NFL, said this at a statement released by

(01:02):
on the team quote, I appreciate everyone's thoughts as well wishes.
This is a great reminder about the importance of wearing
seat belts and remaining alert while driving a car. According
to the reports, he was injured while driving into the facility. Andrews,
twenty eight years old, didn't practice on Wednesday, scheduled day off.

(01:23):
This is We'll find out more in the next week
or so. Involving Mark Andrews. You want to talk about
a player last year with Lamar Jackson, that if he
had stayed healthy throughout twenty twenty three, what he could
have been able to produce. Really, it's for me, Travis Kelsey,
ion Mark Andrews two, trying to find anybody like those

(01:45):
are the two best tight ends in the NFL. What
do you make of this story involving Mark Andrews and
is that the same list for you? Kelsey and Andrews
flip flop in one two is the best in the league.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
First of all, I'm glad he escaped injury. You never
wish injury on anyone you our accidents, they tend to happen.
Glad he was able to manage a day off off
of it. So that's good, only one day off, back
to work the next day for me. Absolutely one of
the top tier tight ends. And I think if if
Brandon I moves on from the Niners, we may get

(02:18):
a glimpse of old school George Kettle back in that
top three position.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
For sure. George Kittle's in that conversation too. If we
had to make a top three, probably Kittle would be three.
Also in that mix. TJ. Hockinsin, but I believe he's
battling an intury. It's more than likely he's not going
to be back to October. Samuelaporta was awesome last year
for the Lions, a little too early in his career
to give him that love as a top tier tight.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
End in the league. I'll give it to him, all right,
top five.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
If you want to say twenty twenty four that you're
a Sam Laporta fan, and he's gonna have a breakout
season and maybe by the end. Look, there was times
last year Kelsey people thought it was toast retire done.
Had a monster postseason. The Taylor swift factor, the swiftiest
guide to the Chiefs all the way to the super Bowl.
Right one year, I swear to you we all believe

(03:05):
Kyle Pitts will be good one year. Thinking about eight year,
this is the year. This has gotta be the year.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
You got a head coach that loves tight ends, you
got a quarterback that loves tight ends. It's gotta be
Kirk Cousins loves his tight ends. Remember what he did
with TJ Howkinson. TJ. Hockinson was always a very good
tight end. He exploded on the scene with the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Gosh Pitts at Florida during COVID seems like forever ago.
We brought up Sam Darnolder only and show we're gonna
bring it up here in about ninety seconds. I also
have to remind people Kyle Pitts twenty three years old.
He is younger than Michael Pennix. He is younger than
Bo Knicks, who are gonna be rookies this season. I

(03:46):
believe it's a year four two. Yeah, year four for
Kyle Pitts. In the when your.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Fantasy league bed on guys having bounced back years, that's
how you win. You used your top picks towards guys
you know we're gonna have great years, and then your
back end picks you just hammer home guys that are
gonna have bounce.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Back here just because I know you and I will
be competing in a league, maybe two leagues together this year.
Just to clarify, by bounce back, do you also mean
guys who are coming off of injuries?

Speaker 3 (04:15):
That is correct. Nobody wanted to take Christian McCaffrey. Granted,
I still got him in a top ten pick, carried
me all the way to a championship last year.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I liked it a lot better in Hour number one.
We agreed on a lot of stuff, but not so
much now when I also had that strategy going into drafts,
and if you're drafting ahead of me and are targeting
guys like Nick Chubb, I don't like your strategy as
much because I want those players, including Mark Andrews, But.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
I don't have to have a battle.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I hope I'll take it before you. Sometimes I wish
it didn't have an open microphone in front of me
talking about sports. Let's move on to start number three.
We talked about it earlier in the show. If you
missed it, Apple Spotify, the iHeart app vikings at quarterback
rookie from Michigan first round draft pick, Jane J. McCarthy
will miss the entire twenty twenty four regular season because

(04:58):
of a torn meniscus. There was talks of when did
the injury happen. Most have pointed to some play during
the match against the Raiders in Game one of the preseason.
For the Vikings, meniscus injuries we've seen maybe be just
about two months in times, depending on the severity. Instead
this injury ending the season for JJ McCarthy. Kevin O'Connell

(05:20):
said this about the injury today and JJ McCarthy quote,
I really believe that JJ has kind of confirmed to
me in a lot of our coaches and players that
we got the right guy in the building for the future,
and he did it in a short amount of time.
That's what makes this news hard because you know just
how exciting it could have been as a daily, minute
to minute progress moving forward. But I think the optimism
should be felt by anyone in our building and hopefully

(05:42):
our fans. Zach Harris, JJ McCarthy, what is his impact
for the Minnesota Vikings and what does it mean for
the entire NFL seeing one of the star top first
round picks not taking the field.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
I'm fine with it, Like I said, not too often
do you see a first round quarterback for the first year. Obviously,
he doesn't have a choice in say he would rather
be playing. But I love the fact that he's going
to be sitting the bench, taking his time learning to playbook.
So that way when he goes into next season, when
he gets the chance to start, he's not overthinking. He's

(06:16):
going out there and playing.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah, I mean, obviously I wouldn't want to see him
get hurt. I want to see him out there. He
looks so good in the preseason for a short sample
size that it looked like he was ready to silence
the haters and show off what he could really do.
At times, people looked at JJ McCarthy and said, he's
not the reason why Michigan won the national championship. It's
rare to say that in football, more so even college football.

(06:40):
Than if you made a list of reasons why a
team won a championship, a quarterback might be fourth third
behind Michigan's coaching and defense.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
But you can only do what you're asked to do.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
There you go. And if he was such a bad
quarterback for Michigan, why we say a first round pick.
You know, he was so terrible. Why do not just
go in the first round but get trade up for
in the first round. Now, the Vikings turned their attention
for McCarthy for twenty twenty five, but they're projected Q
being one is now former Jet quarterback, former Niner quarterback,
former Panther quarterback, Sam Darnold. We'll get the start in Minnesota.

(07:15):
Uh for me? Yeah, it sucks at McCarthy's not playing.
I am willing now to discuss the Vikings as the
worst team in the NFL, a little combination of the
division being stacked. Darnald, although skill wise and town wise,
has shown flashes. He still has those wow moments, and
we talked about this little earlier, like whether it's usc
or even moments for the jetsmen, Oh what a throw? Oh,

(07:38):
you know, just like the like if you're watching it
at Rivers Casino, if you're watching the Friends, like, oh, Like,
he just has that wow power with some of those
throws he has, but they haven't resulted in wins. So
Viking fan might be twenty twenty five for you. Let's
move on a story number two, we talk New York
Mets baseball. We're gonna dive deeper into this later in
this hour, probably the next ten to fifteen minutes. We

(08:00):
had some drama last night involving the Oakland A's and
New York Mets. If you missed it, we're gonna talk
all about that. Are we here for the drama? Is
the drama for your mama, We're going to talk all
about that coming up in what happened involving the Mets
A's last night, Mets lose to the A's nine to four.
That's now lost number four for the Mets, Zach Harris,

(08:24):
four losses in row for the New York Mets. High
level of concern that this team's postseason dash, this run
towards September and October, might be slowing down and they
may go to the finish line is not one of
the Look at this tonight Olympic connection here gold silver
of rons metalists that get to advance of the postseason.
Is the concern higher than ever before? Now for New York.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
I think it has to be because ultimately, ma man,
we're used to starting off slow and peaking towards the
end of the year, or starting off really hot and
then slowing down at the end of the year. This
time we got in the middle. We caught some lightning
in a bottle. I felt like it was too early.
We peaked a little too early. Now we could end

(09:05):
up backing our way into the postseason, but there's some
work that needs to be done.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
You heard a lot of wheeze there from Zach Harris.
If he didn't tip his hand enough for you, if
you haven't heard his takes before, he is a Met fan.
I learned this earlier today. I don't know where I've
been for the last year and a half. I knew
he had a tattoo of the eagles on his shoulder.
That I did know, but I did not realize the
other tattoos on the shoulder, and the New York Mets
are one of them.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
And you didn't notice the New York Nick symbol at
the bottom of my arm, So why are you looking
at the upper of my arm?

Speaker 2 (09:36):
And so it was, it's Nicks, it's eagles, it's Mets.
Did I miss one?

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Nope? You got them all all right. It's a nice combo.
Is there one story behind it?

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Ooh, you know what? I might get to that story
before we give your mets take coming up here all right?

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Now?

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Now you can't leave me with a tease like that.
We'll move on a story number one though. Yankees and
White Sox continue their series tonight eight ten. First pitch
a little nationally televi game. Only place you can consume
it in the Capital reaching is Major League Baseball Network.
Eight ten, White Sox Yankees, Zach Harris, we love the
show talking about this. Yankees bounce back, get a victory,

(10:13):
want so to a big piece of it. Yankees got
destroyed on Monday night. Now to leave this little crumb
for you for later in this hour, we get to
the play of the day. More than likely the Yankee
fans will look at this and say it should be
another victory minus two seventy right now on the money
line for the Yankees. I'm not sure if you knew

(10:33):
this either. Levac and I compete in a home run
survivor pool, so you get to pick one player per
week and can't use them again. We both have Aaron Judge,
so this week, yeah we do have. I mean we
saw White Soxs and Tigers. We got all excited about it.
So Yankees, White Sox. More likely, I'll give you three
choices here. More likely Yankees overachieve, underachieve, or do something

(10:58):
basic tonight in this matchup with the Whites.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
As long as they win, that's all that really matters
to me. So I'm gonna go basic. I don't think
they're gonna whoop the White Sox. I think they're gonna
win six to two all the day.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, Like I'm trying to think in my head, like
what's over achieve for the Yankees, And if you playing
the White Sock, you should have went like two twenty
three to two is overachieving. I don't even Yeah, I
don't even know if the word overachieving exists so much
so for that so I would say probably not disappointing.
I'll go with mediocre because I think the Yankees will

(11:35):
win and win enough that there's no doubt left that
they're the better team on the field to don against
the White Sox. So I will go with the middle.
I will go with the easier play there for the
New York Yankees.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
And we're both really on a ledge here right.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Right in the middle, right where you guys should stay
right there, don't step out of the lane at all.
That's your top four to four four biggest stories in
the world of sports, brought to you by mohawk on
and mohawk on and where they owe ways going out

Speaker 3 (19:11):
I liked it up until the little I got a
little nervous there looking at my arm tattoos, saying, I don't.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Know hr is not in this building. I don't think Actually,
a lot of people are in this billet right now.
It's Wednesday afternoon. Let's talk about the tattoo. If you
missed it, just a few minutes ago, we were talking
that Zach has got some tatts. How many tattoos do
you have on your body? None of might have more
questions about each our potential violations.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
More than I care to admit, because some are places
for you not to see.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Really, is that true?

Speaker 3 (19:39):
That is true?

Speaker 2 (19:40):
My gosh, I feel like I'm learning so much about
you today. We've worked together for almost a year and
a half. I had no idea. Let me just throw
a number ten, all right. I think it's higher than ten. Okay,
he's counting right now. You can't see this. He's counting
his body.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
I can't count.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Okay, it's higher than ten. It's higher than ten.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
It's probably less than ten. Okay, because you would consider
this one. This is a sleeve, this is one.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
I'd consider that five.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Okay, then there you go.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
The reason I consider it five is because I can
admit this right now. Of every human being on planet
Earth I have ever met in my entire life, I
don't know what that number is. It is high, though.
Of all the humans I've ever met and encountered in
my life, one person holds the record for most sports
logos on their body. That is you, Zach Harris. Yeah,

(20:30):
you have three sports team logos on your body. I've
met people with one. I think i've met somebody with
two Levak's. I feel like Levak has the backdrop of
the Yankees. I've met a female and males with sports hat.
I've never met somebody with three. You've got the Mets,

(20:51):
you've got the Eagles, and you've got the knicks, you
feel like you've got stories behind them all or one sleeve. Sir,
Let's hear the story of how this inkned up on
your arm.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
First of all, I have four sports teams.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
That's what I missed.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Eagles, Mets, Nick's Phillies.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Oh I did see the Phillies. Okay, So you could
see the confusion here for me because there's two baseball
teams there are, Okay, So let's hear the story about
how two baseball teams and four sports teams ended up
on your arm.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Okay, so kind of a sad story.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Oh no, not I it's sad sad. I just hiked
it up for ninety seconds about.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Crookt for a giant sad story. So I never had
a father growing up. I had a stepfather, not the
greatest of people, wasn't a great communicator. But if there
was one time that we ever connected, it was during sports.
As you know, Mets Phillies big rivalry there, so just
to bust balls, I would always be a Phillies fan

(21:46):
to pick on the Mets fan, but we would always
go to Mets games together. So my love for both
teams kind of grew from there. So we never had
a great relationship, but when it came to sports, that
was the only time that we really connected.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
That's a hell rial three though. You know, like Mets
Phillies goes back and forth. It's rare you. I'm serious.
You might be the only person in the United States
with the Phillies and Mets tatoo on the same arm.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Seriously, guarantee you.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
I was like, I want to, like, I wish there
was a way we could spread this across social like
if you tagged the next time the Phillies and Mets
played each other, if you tagged both, Teina accounts like,
is there anybody out there like me and just showed
your arm? Dude, if you do that, please tag iHeartRadio
and wl EFFECTS because I'm confident that that doesn't exist
that anybody else has both us. Okay, So that's your

(22:33):
connection there with the Phillies and the Mets. Same story,
very similar with the Eagles and the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
So Eagles, we were always a big Syracuse fan, you know,
my uncle would take me to a Syracuse game every
once in a while. Kind of grew from there, Donovan
mcna going to Philadelphia, That's how I became a Philadelphia
Eagles fan. Before that, all my friends were Bills fans,
so I kind of was like with the Bills. And
then I grew old enough to be like, hey, I
want my own team. So Donovan mca to Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
That's what I'm talking about. In Sack Harris, who knows
maybe a young Zach Harris and a young guys back
in ninety seven ninety eight were both inside the then
known as the Carrier Dome, Section three zero three year
old double Z see one and two or is at
where a young Gazie cub would be perched watching McNabb
and Morob Conrad and everybody else doing their thing. That
is I love that because we both have that connection

(23:25):
to the late Syracuse football team that won back to
back Big East championships. That's very cool. You rolled with
McNabb through that. What about the Knicks?

Speaker 3 (23:33):
So the Knicks when I was growing up, the Knicks
were actually good. That's when they went to the championship
in ninety four ninety nine. You know, they were good
enough to get there, not to win it, but they
were good enough to get there. And there was some
great times. You know, you had Anthony Mason you had
Patrick Ewing, you had Marcus Camby, you had LJ. I

(23:54):
still do the LJ to this day running down the court.
You had Alan Houston. Yes, so many great players roll
through there between the nineties and very early two thousands.
I just I fell in love.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Four sports tattoos. If you know somebody in your life
that has two or three, please at WOFX nine eighty
an automatically shout out on the show. Phone lines are
open to five twenty eight six nine zho nine eight zero.
If you think you've got somebody a cousin you yourself,
you want to share the picture. See this is the one.
You got to share it on socia though, because we
got to see the evidence. I've met people here in

(24:27):
the Campit region with one. I believe I've met one
person two, not four like you. So let's focus on
one of those four tattoos, and that is the New
York Mets. The Mets lose last night to the Oakland a.
It's one of the worst teams in baseball going into
the season, all those Chicago and others. If the Rockies
would argue they're not the worst. But the story of
last night's game was a guy by the name of
Austin Adams, who maybe some of you had no idea

(24:50):
who he was. Austin Adams starts to mock the OMG
dance celebration song that the Mets have been known for
through this season, and he was going to look crazy
Adams during this emotional That's fine, you could do all
those things. But some people say he went a little

(25:12):
over the top. Some of that may have been because
of the past with Adams and what happened. He said
this in the postgame quote, I got DFA designated for
assignment three days before games started over there. I mean,
I'm a middle reliever, So I mean that just happens
with the job that I have on cam that helped
the team. I pitch on emotion. I maybe need to
do a better job of doing that later. You know

(25:34):
it sucks. Yeah, I had a little extra juice today,
so letting him know. Now, there were some words exchanged
in the headlines, like cleaning that up a little bit.
But what do you make of what Austin Adams did
last night? Taunting in the Mets because he's got some
history with the franchise and going over the top with
his celebrations.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Even though I'm a Mets fan, I'm here for it.
I love it. I love whatever juices you up for
that game, for that series, for that year, whatever gets
your juices flowing. I'm here for.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
It's base I'm with you too. Like here's they with baseball, right, Like.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
We could use more of it, I know.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Like that's the thing, Like we've had this storyline surrounding
baseball for a long time now, Like people wanted to
bring personality to baseball, and I think some of guys
like Bryce Harper, I think of Jose Bautista, Trevor Bauer.
I think it was Rodriguez out of the bullpen at
one point used to do the shooting air. There are
guys who are known for certain things that they do,
and they bring attention themselves and show off their personalities.

(26:32):
He did this in that moment, So I have to
pick a lane, right, Like, I can't say that. I
like the idea of guys showing emotion when they hit
a home runs or making a big hatch or sealing
a base, and it's not to always rub it in
somebody's faces, Like, hey, I can show emotion, I can
be happy with something. But there's the old school unwritten rules.
If you show this stuff, you get beamed in the

(26:52):
back the next day, which I feel like more and
more younger and younger pitchers have just backed away from that,
like that old skin right, Like the approach of that
is slow only dine away in the sport. And this
guy is just celebrating getting somebody out. Here's the thing.
If you're pro celebrations in baseball, which it seems like
Zach and I are, then you've got to be with this.
And I'm glad you took that road here as a
met fan because some people would say, like, you know what,

(27:13):
I like it when twenty nine teams celebrate. The only
time I don't like is when someone celebrates against my team,
which is an okay take, I get it. You know,
when I ever see the opponent celebrate. I thought you
might go in that direction, but you were unbiased in
your take and said, you got my guy out, you
want to celebrate, you got some beef, you want to
yell and scream, Okay, we gotta get a hit next time.

(27:34):
I like that. That's a very tempered approach, very good.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Maybe it's a sports host in me, so I have
to remain on biased at times, And honestly, I love celebrations.
I love in a big spot, big moment. All Right,
it's one out, bases loaded, you're up by one round
in a double play. All right, that's awesome. You got
out of the jam. Steph Curry in the Olympics hit

(28:00):
a three over two guys to put it out of
the way, night night. I love it.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
But Steph crek because that's a fantastic comparison here, Because
we're going to a point whether whatever age you are,
whether you're in your mid to late thirties, whether you're
a teenager going to your twenties, whether you've got some
gray hair and gray hair in your beard or your head,
or if you've lost your hair, you might be on
a different spectrum, a spot of your sports vandom over
the years, that we may get to a point sooner
rather than later that the New York Post storyline, the

(28:28):
headline that clicks the videos of what came from A's
mets on a Tuesday in August is no longer storylines
like this, like you brought Steph Curry. Imagine if that
was the thing. Curry dances in flexes after hitting three
against Serbia. Hits a big shot against France and points
to head like seriously, like that sort of did happen though,

(28:49):
Like the Serbian team the game before was doing the
Carmelo thing and that became a headline, but not so
much Steph Curry hitting the shots against France, because the
greatness of Steph Curry almost was lost in the dance
and celebrations in a shimmy in the mouthpiece and everything else.
But it's almost funny if we heard like Curry mouthpiece
half out of mouth, Warriors to feed Wolves, Like what

(29:09):
can we just talk about the game? Imagine like he
did in football, Odell dances Dolphins beat Patriots twenty one
to fourteen. What you just said he dances in the
end zone. Of course, guys do that. Of course, guy's
flex after that. Of course, guys celebrate, tell your fist
pumps his way to major. How about he made a
great shot? Like all those things sound awkward and clunky

(29:30):
and out of place when I put the headline like that,
except for bass, except for baseball, right like this seemed
like a Oh, why some guy we've never heard of
from the A's losing his mind against the Mets last night? Oh,
it's because some people aren't with it yet some people
want to know why in the world he acted like that,
and that still the headlines from last night's game.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
Now, are you pro celebration anytime you do something like
there's some guys that go above and beyond. I got
a first out, boom throwing that arm out, Like, come on, man,
if it's a big spot, big moment, yeah, celebrate, But
every single first down, Like if it's the first play
of an NFL game and you get a first down,
great job, I'm gonna celebrate.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
Yeah, Like, I'm gonna really nitpick here on my celebration
because I'm gonna make a lane of Like if you're
going to celebrate football, baseball, basketball, hockey, even individual sports
could do this too. You should ninety five percent of
the time be winning. Now, I think there's a difference
here between this is where the nitpick cops. There's a
difference between celebrating taunting, you know, dancing, and firing a

(30:35):
bench dugout up. Like let's say, for instance, your team's
down four to two and it's the ninth they need
to get a double. If you're on second base and
you got your hands up and you try to get
the crowd into it and firing up the bench like that,
to me is not a celebration. That's say, let's get
the crowd into this. Let's fire some guys up, right,
Like if you're flexing er doing some taunt on seiting
that we think we're all smart enough to understand that.
But that's a big deal for what I'm talking about,

(30:57):
because you mentioned this right, Like if you're down by
three touchdowns and is third and seven and you got
a one yard loss and you get him, like, dude,
you're down three, what are you doing? And we've seen
this happen in sports football is the king of it,
guys getting flagged for personal fouls because they wanted to
make sure the SID or the sports information person got
his tackle. I tell this story all the time about

(31:19):
my guy, Reggie Robinson. Reggie Robinson changed his number his
junior year, and what he always would do is be
the last one off the pile and then quickly turn
to the sports information director because not only would he
be last, he'd made sure he saw his number so
he'd get credited with the tackle.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
Like, guys, a smarman, that's a smart man right there.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
What are Reggie Robinson's Hobart stats now, by the way,
the Pride of Antonyville, New York. But that's her Like,
I love that take where it's like, hey, if you're
gonna taunt, celebrate, dance, all that stuff, have the lead.
It's not rubbing it in. It's so much more clunky
and strange if like, you're down by so many runs
and you're trying to be the man on the field.
Now the Ags were winning at this point, he wants
to yell and scream and get us out and have

(31:59):
the big perform even.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
If they weren't winning. If they're down one, if you're
within the game range, celebrate, that's a big moment, that's
a big time. He got out of jam. Awesome job.
Deserve to celebrate. But if you're down dues football forty
five to zero, celebrating a sack or oh you got
twenty yard play, whatever, No need, Let's.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Talk about your Mets. Now four games in a row
have lost. You look up at the wild card standings,
you're gonna start seeing teams like the Arizona Diamondbacks. You're
gonna see teams like the San Diego Padres, the Atlanta
Brains have Now I don't want to say heating up
the brains, but they've won two games in a row,
even though they've only won three of their last ten.

(32:43):
Your Mets are two games back, four losses in a row. Concerned.
What's your level? How is Zach Harris feeling about his
Mets right now in mid August?

Speaker 3 (32:55):
I'm concerned to an extent. You're still with well within range.
Are only two games back. Don't let it. Get the three,
get the four, get the five, get the six. You're
out of it. Stay within that range and then make
your move.

Speaker 18 (33:11):
They are.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
It's almost the opposite of the Orioles and Yankees, which
you talked about in an Hour number one. If you
missed at Apple Spotify, the iHeart app always on demand
for you to listen to the show. The Orioles have
lost in a row, two in a row, Nationals and Rings,
and the Yankees were able to take advantage. But even
when the Yankees went through a rough stretch, and Levac
likes to remind me about this almost daily, that the

(33:33):
Orioles didn't take advantage of that tough spot for the Yankees.
And because when they were banned, the Oriels are banned,
there was no movement across the division. While right now
in the National League Wild Card, as the Mets struggle,
it's also happening. The Giants have lost a bunch of
games in a row. The Cardinals have lost a bunch
of games in a row. The Pirates, this was your moment, Pittsburgh.
You've got all the guys. There was rumors that wouldn't

(33:56):
have been so much more fun if Pittsburgh had been
the one who made a move for a lad junior
at the deadline. With all the young pitching that they have,
they're out of it. They're toast. The Nationals are toast.
The Cubs are I'm eliminating the Cubs. The Cubs are done.
So all these teams that felt like they were in
it are all tanking right now towards the end of
July now into August, and the Mets are just trying
to hang on your right, Like there's always these magic

(34:17):
numbers that float around for five six. Once you start
seeing that number, the hill gets so much higher to
climb up. You're saying, stay steady, sit right around one
to three, start beating the ace like you're supposed to
hope that somebody falls back. Hope these National League West
teams beat each other up, the Dodgers, Padres, and Diamondbacks,

(34:38):
and hope things settle back for your New York Metropolitans.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
Moneyball, Just let the mistakes come to you. That's all
you can do.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
One other Mets question for you, Pete Alonzo, Are you
shocked he's on the roster? We haven't talked it actually
since the deadline. Now in the look, it is a
little different of an answer you might give me now
when they're two games back in the Wildcard, compared to
what we would have probably asked you two weeks ago.
How do you view Pete Alonso now? More likely less likely?
Still too much time left to the side of a

(35:06):
take on Alonzo, yet, I like to see.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Here's my thing about Alonzo. If Alonzo left, and I
am one of the ten Mets fans, I wouldn't mind
if he left. Obviously that's a big loss. But at
the same time, I've seen him in big spots, I've
seen him in postseasons. He has not performed the way
we expect him. We put him at superstar status and

(35:31):
he plays at star status. So if he happened to leave,
not that I'd be okay. With it, but it wouldn't
be as heartbreaking as it would for other Mets fans. Ultimately,
we don't know. With this new ownership, they're big game talkers.
Now all of a sudden, you take a step back.
Nowjan Soto might be a free agent. Are you taking

(35:53):
that big step forward and slinging your guns again?

Speaker 19 (35:55):
Like?

Speaker 3 (35:56):
Who knows what this offseason brings. I do like the
trade deadlines where they made minimal places where they just
gradually got better. They knew this is a year where
we could make it to the postseason. We're not going
to be a World Series contender.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Now that I know your fandom for the Mets, and
I don't know for what reason. I think maybe you
have thought in the past we're a Philly fan because
you're Philly fandom. So I wonder if I didn't even
realize the met fandom from you, Levack and Eye in
two thousand and gosh, nineteen, that can't be that far back.
Lavack and I took a bus trip to the Mets
City field, saw a game. You might be on that

(36:35):
bus next time. I don't know how it's gonna happen.
I don't know when it will happen. But if we
can figure out our way back to City Field, it
is awesome. It is a fun place to watch a game.
It's a cool location. I guess going to any sporting
event on a bus is always a lot of fun.
But now that I know the fandom for you for
the New York Mets, maybe we'll all ride together here. Foxs.
We gotta get our sales team on it, get somebody
to potentially sell that forest on Fox Sports.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
I mean, I do fit in Duffel bags. So there's
a way.

Speaker 2 (37:01):

because it's not Levac Who's gonna place some wagers with
our guys, Zach Harris. You may hear him on our
sister station, WGY one on three one and eight ten,
the legendary w g I Saturdays with mister g Doc,
mister Yum Yum, mister Wow, Capitol Region Radio legend Joe Gallagher.

(43:56):
You've also heard Zach cross your own Fox Sports over ears.
People have heard your voice across Fox Sports. Is that
too many years?

Speaker 3 (44:03):
I think it's eight, right, too many years for Fox Sports,
but eight over WGY. Okay, I think it's probably been
about five years over Fox Sports, all rightfully, getting back soon, all.

Speaker 2 (44:12):
Right, so let's you're you're here soon as here You
want more Zach Harris, though, is what you're talking? I
want the Capitol Region?

Speaker 3 (44:17):
Does I want Zach and only Zach? Well, Zach and Zach.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
That's right, Zach and Zach More, let's just say, if
we were a restaurant, you'd want more servings, is what
you're saying.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
That's nothing wrong with that, Scoop Sky Potato.

Speaker 2 (44:28):
That's right, that's right, the play of the day. So
the fun part about this is when you're feeling in
is you get the wide scope why birth is what
people usually I don't really comfortable with that term.

Speaker 3 (44:39):
Now I think about it wide birth.

Speaker 2 (44:41):
Yeah, and Doug Gouty uses that term. I think it's
a fishy.

Speaker 3 (44:43):
Bar he I'm looking at my tattoos.

Speaker 2 (44:46):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with you. What would you like
for your play of the day today? We go in future?
Were going for a play on Wednesday? What's Zach Harris thinking?

Speaker 3 (44:54):
You know, since I'm so honored that you brought me
back to host with you, and here about Levac in
God's Home Run Weekly whatever, that's right. Yes, I am
gonna put my money on an Aaron Judge home run,
mister three hundred two night. WHOA, let's get it.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
Let's go out ride with us, Zach Harrison, everybody's riding.
Let's go aeron Judge tonight home run?

Speaker 3 (45:22):
Baby, come like my nose got a little Browner on
that one.

Speaker 2 (45:25):
No, no, no, there's nothing wrong with it. We ride together,
we die together, bad boys for life, that's right. You
knew what it was from. But you will say, look,
we didn't do this with Sewn on Monday, we didn't
do this with Brian. But you know this because you've
been a part of this iHeart family far longer than
Levak and I have. And you can confirm this though,
if you get your play of the day right. Ryan
epically whiffed. Now he had a future play about the

(45:47):
AFC North, but maybe it'll bounce back. Sean, I don't remember, honestly,
off the top of my head, I thought it missed
as well. I think we're over two right now. But
if you hit this one tonight, there is truly no
better feeling in media. Yes, when you're actually playing in
the sport hitting the home run, obviously those feel better,
But doing this for a job, that's about as good
as it feels when you nail a pick on the air.

(46:09):
You were hot this fast fall when it came to
our wagers during Sunday football shows. We want the heat
to continue potentially to night for this Judge home run.

Speaker 3 (46:18):
Absolutely, mister three hundred. It's gotta happen tonight.

Speaker 2 (46:22):
I would love for that to happen. Let's have it happen.
Let's move on to this though, I'm gonna go with
a line that stinks out loud. This can be sponsored
by the Way at some point as well. Sometimes I
just look at some of these numbers, like last night,
that Tiger's Mariners game made zero sense for the money
line numbers. Now I get it. The Tiger's starting pitcher

(46:43):
last night could potentially win the cy Young. I feel
like that's not a great wager to fire one off
on him because of potentially late closers like the Guardians
have out of the bullpen and Corborn Burns for the Oars.
But the line's stunk and the Tuger's won. I think
the final was fifteen to one. I gotta go back
and double check that. I was fifteen to one, and
like the fifteen to one is the final. It's insane game.

(47:05):
They only got three hints. But talking about the marriage tonight,
the one that stinks out loud to me is a
six to forty first pitch Cubs Guardians Atlex Cobb on
the mound for the Guardians tonight, Cobb was one of
the acquisitions during the deadline that people thought, Okay, this
is the guy that Cleveland thinks is gonna make them
the best team in baseball. This is the one that
they believe can separate then from the Yankees and Orioles

(47:27):
and everybody else. Cubbs only plus one twenty, even though
the Guardians right now record wise are the best team
in the American League. Slight favorite tonight minus one forty
five at home at Progressive Field in an inter league matchup.
So that's my play for tonight, Cubbs money line plus
one twenty over the Guardians. Of the sport that you

(47:50):
wager on baseball, football, basketball, hockey. Maybe there's something else
I didn't even realize. I would say, in similar fashion
of Levac and I. You love to invest, you love
to wager. You told us many time about your parlay.
Is it a sport you enjoy more? How do you well,
let me just ask that, out of the gives, do
you enjoy wager on one sport more than any other sport?

Speaker 3 (48:11):
Absolutely? Football?

Speaker 2 (48:12):
Which football? NFL? College? Or is about even NFL?

Speaker 3 (48:15):
Because college can get really wacky really quickly. And by
that I mean you could have Alabama at Appalachian State
minus thirty one and a half, and you do not
know what's going to happen because Appalachian State is known
to put up a lot of points. For those of
you that may not know, you know that thirty one
and a half doesn't look as golden as you think

(48:37):
it would be with Alabama rolling tide.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
Uh, yes, you know. I also laugh at that take,
not just because of how well you explained it and
what people should know about that, but right when you
said it, when you said wacky things can happen in
college when you're wagering on college I have some friends
that when it comes to college sports, they will effort
ever touch it, like they want nothing to do with

(49:03):
college sports. Like what do you mean you like you
wager on the unfaluas you're on the NBA. They say,
I'm not wager on college Like what do you mean
You're not gonna wait? I don't want to wager on teenagers?
Like what does that even mean? They go, well, here's
what's tough about waging on college sports. A quarterback's girlfriend
could have just broken up with her. He could have
just bombed his social studies test. He could be wanting

(49:23):
to transfer. He could have read something mean about himself
on social media. And as silly and as stupid as
that sounds, those are variables you can't control when you're
wagering on sports. Like when you're a professional, grown man
adult and you've got a decent rate on what matchups
and weather and all those things, injuries play a factor. Allegedly,

(49:44):
I'll use that term. Allegedly. College football is supposed to
have more detailed injury reports this year. I feel like
that's gonna be very much like hockey. Oh, the running
back is a lower body injury.

Speaker 5 (49:55):
You know.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
I don't think we're net anything out of it. So yeah,
I do know people who won't touch college because of
there are too many variables. I love wagering on college football.
I love the NFL a lot of fun. But there
are something cool about college football. Firing off bets at
noon and then firing off another at three point thirty
and then hoping you're done. But wait a second, the
big games. That's seven o'clocker. Wait a second, we lost.

(50:17):
Now we got to fire one off on Hawaii.

Speaker 3 (50:19):
To come back. Oh, so that's why you love college football.
It's the comebackers. I'm always going to get the next one.
Better's mentality, it's lose this one, I got the next one.
I do like betting on college football. The reason that
it's not my favorite is because here in New York
there's guidelines that restrict us a little more than they should. Like.
I can't bet on Jaln Milrod to run for twenty

(50:40):
five yards. I can't bet on Syracuse to beat Colgate.
You know, there's certain things that I can't bet. That's
probably the only Syracuse game i'd bet on for them
winning Hot sare you?

Speaker 2 (50:49):
They play Ohio, Ohio, and the opener it's by the way,
You're home for Syracuse football is right here WOFX ninety five,
nine to nine eighty. When the games aren't on WG,
which WG I will carry? I believe a majority of
the games this season. That's always tough to yell out
what it's going to be because of kickoff times and
everything else. But I can guarantee you this. Two games

(51:09):
in September will air here on Fox, and two games
at the start of the season darn in August thirty. First,
I thought I was gonna nap both in September August
thirty first is when the season opens up. That game
against the Ohio Bobcats will air on WGI and hopefully
get on the air because of Zach and I. I
did email Zach earlier this week saying, Hey, I'm going
to that game. Could you just give a listen to

(51:30):
make sure we're on the air.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
So now they gotta win, You're going to be in there.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
I will. That's probably the only game I'm going to
get to this season because my baby, baby number three
is doing November, so then it's risky business. Then it's
like leaving the thirty plus a week wife for a
football game two hours west with my That's a dangerous game.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
I'd be playing eleven months, nine months ago NFL off season.
Oh okay, I got it together. I got it together
a little. It's happened in there. Uh wagers.

Speaker 2 (52:01):
By the way, whether it's football, baseball, basketball, we love
the play of the day. Our guy Ryan McCarthy, who
usually keeps track of this the Cardinals, they call it
market Zack. Shout out your Twitter, by the way, so
if he wants to tag you on there, what is
the Twitter? One more time? Zach f n Zach by
the way with an H within H nine eighty. I

(52:21):
remember that last time we were at Rivers together, but
that other one that Zach Boyton with his k out
in his name.

Speaker 3 (52:27):
We gotta get Zach Boyton to do Zach with a
k F S nine eighty so we can all be together.

Speaker 2 (52:35):
If you pitched that idea too, I'm gonna have to
you know what.

Speaker 3 (52:39):
He's gonna have some terrible take. I'm gonna get yelled at.
Or I'm gonna have a terrible take He's gonna get
yelled at. It'd be wonderful the next.

Speaker 2 (52:45):
Time you see him, because I know his schedules always
whacked out. He's got some weekend stuff he does when
he's doing promotions and everything else. If at some point
before the end of the year, maybe the next time
we just all stay together, please send a text to
him to think Gods and I discussed this today on
the air. The idea that you both could have a
emilar Twitter tag just one letter different is hysterical to me.
It's great.

Speaker 3 (53:04):
You never know who you're talking.

Speaker 2 (53:05):
I ain't have no idea. Who are you blaming for
the takes? Who is it gonna be? You can let
anybody know across sush MEI those are a plays that
ay one more time. Zach Harris with an h has
Aaron Judge home run tonight, let's go. I got the
Cubs money line plus one twenty tonight you can see
all those things hopefully happen. And when we're back tomorrow,
we'll cash in our wags when we're at Rivers Casino

(53:26):
and Resort. But we got a whole another hour left
of the show. We got the third hour on the
way coming up.

Speaker 5 (53:31):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (53:31):
I read an article today and this is coming off
the Jane J. McCarthy News that somebody is convincing me
that maybe the way we view a certain quarterback in
New York needs to be altered before we hit Game one.
Maybe we we're with this guy, or maybe we think
he's absolutely out of his mind. We'll give you all
those takes coming up. Our number three is Zach Harrison

(53:53):
for Lavacaus. Here with you on the Voice of the
Capitol Region Sports Fan, Fox Sports ninety five nine and
nine eighty.

Speaker 4 (53:58):
Hey, it's back for the Intergram Sleep Center in Ball
the spot with doctor fred Drear. So I've got this
mouthpiece that keeps my airway open, and you're thinking to yourself,
why do you need help keep me your airway open?
And it's because of obstructive sleep apnea. What it means
is something is getting in the way of your breathing
at night. You snore wicked loud, you stop breathing. It
causes all kinds of health issues that you probably don't

(54:19):
even realize you have at this time. But they build,
they grow, they get worse. It made it impossible for
me to lose weight. It made it impossible for me
to have energy during the day. As Lorian over the office,
and when we first met you, it was gray. It's true.
I could see it now. But you can fix all this.
You don't need a mask, hoses, wires, surgery. I mean,
you know, hey, if that works for you, God blessed.
It's all about getting a good night's sleep. But for me,

(54:41):
it's a simple and easy mouthpiece. Thanks to doctor Fred
Dreer and the Integrated Sleep Center embosson spot, give them
a call see if they can help you. It's definitely
worth it. Five one eight eight eight five six eight

Integrave Sleep Center embossed the spot. Help me sleep better
and help you sleep better too.
