Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jeter that wants to fire off a hot take, and
he works for the New York Post. His name is
Mark Canazario. Mark Canazario fired off this steaming hot take
today his article today, quote, sitting Aaron Rodgers for entire
jents preseason would be a mistake. He wants Aaron Rodgers

(00:21):
on the field now. I don't know if he realized
this was going to hit right around the JJ McCarthy news.
I know there's some rumors and social media things floating
around about Jordan Addison for the Minnesota Vikings out there
as well. But here's what mister Canazario wrote about Aaron
Rodgers needing to play in the preseason.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Quote.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Firstly, he wrote that on me. Firstly, it would have
been eleven months since he was in a game and
experiencing the feeling of a game day in uniform, with
defensive players in full chase trying to sack him would
be a good ice breakers exercise to help knock off
the rust after a year of grueling rehamb And Secondly,
Rodgers would line up behind what is essentially a completely
new offensive line and Rodgers playing with them for a

(01:01):
series or two against the Giants would be benefiting for
all involved, not to mention the fact that blah blah
blah blah blah. Zach Harris I tossed this question to you.
Are you team Mark Canizario and saying it's a mistake
for Rogers to sit the entire preseason or do you
believe the soon to be Hall of Famers just fine

(01:21):
not seeing some action in August.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
He's going to be just fine. He's done this before
he's come back from injury. Maybe it hasn't been eleven
not to play any of his starters during the preseason,
and everybody kind of followed suit. For me, joint practices
and joint scrimmages are where it's at because you can
control all of the environment around you.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Yeah, I tried. I'm trying to watch preseason action I
have for the Jets, Giants and Bills, but trying to
get excited, trying to be invested, whether it's a team
storyline we're going to cover on the air, whether it's
actuals in the game, whether it's fantasy football. Things that
would drive me to be locked in on the action

(02:06):
aren't there. So I'm just like, Okay, it's a blowout
in the preseason all right, this quarterback who's not going
to be here in two weeks starting is not going
to give me a storyline or I don't know what
to do with this evaluation of this player who may
or not be Look, and that's preseason for every sports.
But because the platform that football is on is so
much larger, we won't usually discuss those preseason games. Once
in a while, once in a while, NBA preseason, and

(02:30):
unfortunately on this show at times, the Arizona Fall League,
which I'm sure I'll be taunted with in two months
when that comes back. Uh So, I guess you've taken
a path to this answer that I've taken, but different
ways we're arriving at the same thing. If your take
is to eliminate the entire preseason action, get rid of
all the games, so I guess that would say that
you don't want him to play in the preseason. If

(02:51):
you don't want a preseason, you don't want him to
play in any preseason game. So you're no need, no need, right,
Like you're you're against Canazario's take here for the New
York Post, I'm also with you, boy. He tried laying
out why Aaron Rodgers needs to play. And I'm just thinking, like, man,
you got your clicks, you got the headline.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
That's exactly what you got. What you wanted clicks.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
That's all it is, clickbait. And maybe it's too simple
now post JJ McCarthy, that we just saw a rookie quarterback,
a first round draft pick, go down in the preseason
for a game, that the future of McCarthy is far
more important than what happened against the Raiders. I'm very
convinced now, and even most Viking fans might be convinced
by this, whether they want to admit it today or not,
that six months from now and a year from now,

(03:35):
you may not even remember the name of the team
they got hurt against. I'm talking about J McCarthy and
others who go down to the preseason like, you know
they got hurt, but you may not remember the team.
And in this case, no one knows the play, no
one knows what he got hurt. You can speculate on
Twitter all you want, but nobody knows. So the idea
that this guy Cannazario can say we need to see
Rogers in the preseason, and not just in the preseason,

(03:56):
but the game against the Giants the old snoopy Bule
used to be called. That's what we need to see
him play. What if he got hurt? Like Ryan said this,
I'm sure you're with him. I'm with this Jet fans,
Jimmy and Kasaki, Nick and Syracuse, Jake, everybody, Justin and Gilderland.
Can we get more than four place? Can we get
more Rogers? That please? One game, ten games the whole season.

(04:21):
You don't want to miss out on Rodgers and back
to back seasons because we needed to see him do
what against the Giants? So no Rogers this preseason. I
know you gotta write stories for the New York Post.
I know you need content. I know Rogers has been
giving clicks from the moment he signed with the Jets.
Traded to the Jets. No, no need for Rogers in
the preseason.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I think that was just a Nasonine take. It was
just there for clicks. Now for me, even though I
said I don't want a preseason, doesn't mean I don't
got my Scooby snacks banging into the preseason. I did
make a boatload of money. If you want to consider
when I made a boatload of money.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
In radio and radio any money to boatload of money exactly,
exactly if I made twenty bucks a boatload of money
with the Cowboys falling to the Rams, it was nice.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
I also stayed up and watched the whole Eagles in
Ravens game. Now for me personally being the geek with
four tattoos of four different teams, yes, for me, I
dive in. I get to know the fifty third man.
You know, that's that's just me. But preseason it really
does nothing.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
No, No, there was a time, especially when we saw
some shifts in what channels were carrying the free I
remember this so well. This was one of my gosh,
it might have been Oh my gosh, it was it
ten years today, August twenty fourteen. Oh my gosh, I
get old. Uh, it might have been ten years to today.
I was filling in for a guy named Jim Lurch.
He goes by the Manchild out in Syracuse. But in

(05:48):
the Manchild was the name of the channel. I was
filling in for the Manchild, and I was staring across.
It was the Thursday night game. I believe was the Bills,
and it might have been the Giants. I might have
been two New York teams that night, and I was
standing across when old journalist named Bud Polloquin, And Bud
has seen a lot of sports in his day. He'd
probably been in the media field for thirty thirty five years.

(06:09):
He'd been doing that job longer than at that point
I was on Planet Earth, and I asked, but in
between a break, I'm like, Budd, are you donna watch
the preseason game? And he looked at me as if
like I'd asked him like an offensive question, and he's like,
I thought that was, like, you know, we're talking about
the game. So I asked him. I'm like, Doug, Doug,
h Bud, don't you think tonight's game will have an impact?
He's like, no, you how many sporting events I've watched

(06:31):
over my thirty five years? I can confidently tell you
right now, guys, I won't remember any player who takes
the field tonight. What what do you mean, Doug?

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Doug?

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Now is it Bud? What is your name?

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Bud?

Speaker 1 (06:41):
You gotta watch tonight. Doug Marone was the head coach.
That's why I keep doing that in my head, right,
Doug Maroon's gonna do something Tonight's former Syracuse coach we're
hosting at Syracuse. You're gonna care.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Nope, don't care.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
They didn't care.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
I mean, there's certain storylines that we follow. We remember
the Victor Cruz. We remember Raheem moorese moisture with the
Eagles before he moved on. We remember Sammy Sleeves with
the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chip Kelly four and oh preseason,
lighten up everybody. You know. It's nice to have those
little stories. But at the end of the day, you

(07:13):
can evaluate without those games. It's okay to evaluate without
those games. And I am all for joint practices, so
you still get to go against a different opponent and
see something differently than going into a preseason where I
have a Manila envelope of ten basic plays and you
have an envelope of ten basic plays. We're just gonna

(07:34):
run them.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
I would find it hard to believe this world could exist.
Maybe Kenazario can come back in November and December and
say you remember, and you guys mocked me in August.
I would find it hard to believe that if we
hit November and December and the Jets are five hundred.
Let's say the Jets are five and five Let's say
the Jets are six and four, but easily could be

(07:58):
four and six. That someone's gonna come back and say,
you know what cost the Jets Rogers not playing in
the preseason. Rogers didn't have enough reps with the wide receivers.
Rogers didn't know how this offensive line moved. That's what
I would be stunned someone could make that take like, hey,
Rogers' overall contributions to the team of live action, he

(08:18):
had to wait. He basically has not played with them
in two years. That's why he's not good. I would
find that take near the bottom of reasons why the
Jets are five hundred, barely above. It seems like if
the Jets get to five and five, four and six,
six and four, the reasons for that would be tough schedule,
Robert Sala not being a great coach, young players not contributing,

(08:40):
or Aaron Rodgers not being very good at forty years old.
Like no, no, in particular order, by the way, like
those would be the more likely reasons the Jets may
not be good come November December would be super old
quarterback who benefited from the Packers head coach and play caller.
I guess we'll combine those two weren't as good as
we thought, schedules tough and young got like I think
on that list of why the Jets aren't as good preseason,

(09:04):
lack of actions not on there.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
No, you're wrong.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
If he did go three for six and throw for
sixty seven yards and get one touchdown, that's the whole
reason that he's bombing right now.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Come on, can you do me a.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Favor if mark it on your calendar? Like, So, my
babies due on November sixteenth, so that's a Sunday. I
might might be coming the fourteenth, that's a Thursday. So
mark this on your calendar. There's a chance that you're
hosting with Levac that day, that fifteenth on November. There's
a chance here with our other zach is Zack Junior,

(09:36):
Zach with a K, you guys might be hosting. There's
a possibility in that window from like the fifteenth to
Thanksgiving year hosted on here. Mark that down. I sat
here with guys in August and he gave me this
take about a New York Post writer. He's ripping old
radio people, ripping old newspaper people as a war on
war crime with the same people. He told me nobody

(09:57):
was gonna have a take about Rogers not doing well
in the pre season. I'm here to tell you today,
I'm the one right now.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
I knew that day would come.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
I'm gonna use this. I'm gonna wait for November. I'm
gonna be like, you know why the Jets are failing
right now here in the middle of November, It's because
Aaron Rodgers didn't get on field in preseason and go
three of six with sixty seven yards and a touchdown
and a basic playbook.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Come on, man, when.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
We get closer to this September, So we're gonna have
our NFL preview show. We're gonna do that live edition.
I think I might do this this year because the
last year we did it, we had two hour show.
Now we have a three hour show. I want your
ain Zack and Zach the Sandwich there, the Zack and
Zach Show. I do want a segment from you two
because we've got a street going right now. Levac and

(10:45):
I four consecutive seasons where we've nailed at least one
Super Bowl participant. But because we now have a certain
way we look at it, we might be a little
too stubborn to change it before the first kickoff of
the twenty twenty four regular season. I want a Super
Bowl predict out of both of you, because we saw
how good some of your wagers were in September and October.
Zach knows I'm talking junior.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Now.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
You know him from WGY as well. You know the
mistakes he made, and he does. He likes the five
or sixteen parlay like he can go four for five
or five for six. I don't know I didn't win.
We do. We know why you didn't when Zach had
six things on this parlor. But I do want some
preseason picks out of both you before it.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Is that guy that starts adding legs and doesn't even
realize how spiraled he went until he goes to place
it and he goes, wait, I got eight legs on
this baby.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
What the heck happened?

Speaker 1 (11:36):
I remember it so well. So we had a fantasy
football draft back in Syracuse two years ago, and my
buddy actually just heard him nicking. Syracuse is a huge,
huge Jet fan. Sat down at the draft. My buddy,
Burt's the commissioner. Right before the draft's gonna start, he
goes to Burt Burt, What the heck's up with your parley?

Speaker 5 (11:52):
Man?

Speaker 1 (11:53):
He's like, what do you mean? He's like, Dude, I
hit six out of seven last night? What the heck?
He's like, you hit six out of seven?

Speaker 2 (11:59):
What do you mean?

Speaker 4 (11:59):
You're blue?

Speaker 1 (12:00):
You mean me for the parlay? Just play five?

Speaker 6 (12:02):
Please?

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Six?

Speaker 1 (12:03):
You're telling me I only give you six out of seven.
It's my fault. Your seven league parlay didn't hit.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Oh man, those are all kings of the one legged short.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Oh my gosh. Everybody is, and everybody wants to tell
you about it. This guy had ten more yards. If
this guy had thirty more yards. I do want the
Jets to do well, though, I really do, like I
really want Rogers to play well. I want Hackett to
do well. I want to see it. I thought that
Packard team last year overachieved so much of With Jordan
Love on the squad, it makes me reconsider what we
can get out of the Jets and how tough that

(12:34):
division is. But I think it's good for everybody. With
the Jets succeeding, we hopefully, uh we'll see a successful
Jet team coming up here in twenty twenty four. Then'd
be a lot of cool things on the way for
Gangree and their fans coming up. So we're so close
to the NFL kicking off, we're so close getting back
to all that. Let's talk about this. Though you're a
married man, I'm a married man. Lily and David find you.

(12:57):

It's Lavak and Gaze on ninety five nine Fox Sports Radio.
No Levac today, sort of like cable in HBO last night,
Leavac is off tonight. Zach Harris filling in as we
moved into the evening the third hour of this lavakan
Goze Wednesday edition. For those of who don't, we're gonna

(19:01):
talk about how we saw the buffalo bills on the
HBO Max version of Hard Knocks, episode two last night
of the New York Time to it, Zach, are you
a cable subscriber? Do you have cable?

Speaker 2 (19:11):
No? I do not. I have YouTube TV, Okay, your
YouTube TV.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
I don't know YouTube TV as well as much as
what happened yesterday, but I do know this. I am
not a cable subscriber, but I do have Max. So
figure that out how you want to figure that out
on my phone. But if you didn't have cable last night,
you were like many people like myself that had Hard
Knocks delayed on the streaming version. So if you're trying

(19:35):
to watch Hard Knocks live last night, it's not on.
They're like, what's going on?

Speaker 11 (19:39):
What?

Speaker 1 (19:40):
And people are taunting you, like, what do you mean
can't watch Hard Knocks? Don't you have cable?

Speaker 2 (19:43):
No?

Speaker 1 (19:44):
For whatever reason. If you were watching on Max last night,
the Hard Knocks broadcast was not posted until ten o'clock
Central for some and depending on if you refreshed your
app and everything else, might have been even longer for
other people, depending on how you're consuming. So they took
the night. It felt like Max's not here, and the
Buffalo Bills basically felt like they took off that game

(20:05):
last night. Watching Hard Knocks episode two, the things that
stood out to me, I know, they tried spinning it
like every Hard Knock season that the team you're watching
is the greatest team that's invented football and they're the greatest.
Chicago did look pretty.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Awesome, But.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
You know, as much as that criticized the over the top,
oh my gosh, Aaron Rodgers is invented football, They're the
greatest thing ever. I mean, the Bears pounded Buffalo. You
can make the storyline, well, Chicago already had a preseason
game under their belt, So that's why they look good.
I don't think that's the case. Well, uh, Caleb Williams
is the number one pick, so that I don't think

(20:42):
that's the case. Well, they had some fifth rounder who
looked like a Max Crosby light. I think that was
the term they used something along those lines, right, right,
Max Crosby light poor man's Max Crosby. I looked at
Chicago last night, and maybe I've been con convinced by
the highlights and how they chopped it up, you would be.

(21:03):
I was very impressed. That convinced me that win over
Buffalo wasn't just Buffalo playing awful, that Chicago's got a
lot of talent, and maybe there are more concerns about
that Buffalo offensive line. Any takeaways for you about Hard
Knocks episode two especially involved with what you saw from
the Bills.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
So for me, it's not necessarily what I see, Like
I said, preseason isn't a big indicator for me.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
I could do it without it.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
It's put it this way. If I told you Bryan
Pool three years ago came in cleaned House, we thought
he was the worst GM in the history of the
Bears organization. Look at what he's done. Dj Moore, Keenan Allen,
DeAndre Swift, Caleb Williams. You got one of the top

(21:52):
cornerbacks in the league. Like, this is a team now
littered with talent and potential. So for me, yes, I'm
buying in. But do they actually arrive a year too
early like we think or is this just a team
that Lee Shreiver's just got a samped up because he's

(22:14):
one of the greatest ever.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
I don't know the answer to that. I'm sure really
struggling to figure that out because now I'm even more
confused by that because of the preseason take we just
had twenty minutes ago. Well, we don't think it's needed
for Rogers, Like we can split that a little bit,
like just because Aaron Rodgers in the preseason may not
be as valuable, doesn't mean other people can't benefit from it.
Like we're talking about a younger roster that Chicago basically

(22:39):
blew up. That Chicago moved a bunch of picks around,
and they love DJ Moore and the overall management team.
If you're a Bangers fan, you have to be thrilled
about and I gotta give credit to this. I don't
know if it's just we're football thirsty. If Chicago has
more of a national following than people realize. I'm not
sure if you heard the story, but episode one of

(22:59):
Heart Knocks in twenty twenty fourth on the Chicago version
out the Giants version, is the highest watch to Hard
Knocks episode in five years.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
The shape and effect maybe.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Maybe the nixt Shaban effect. Something happened where all of
a sudden, that's happening to have those type of numbers.
So look, you want the team that's getting featured it
look really good. I know the storyline that always hangs
over every season of Hard Knocks from whatever this time
got out that the team has the final saying. I'm
sure people who work on that show are so frustrated
by that because they put so much time and effort

(23:30):
to making the show look good. But from the guys
making plays, to Caleb Williams, to the Bills looking terrible,
you know what, let me do this. I will do
this instead, because here's what I get right now, right.
I get the Bills getting smoked, I get the Bears
looking good in back to back episodes. I get all
these compliments for out great the Bears are. Maybe I

(23:51):
do need to hold a little bit more judgment till
Game two, like for Buffalo, didn't feel like an important game.
There were decisions to be make at times, like a
look at, come see the local kid playing, Come see
the former Olympians who have never played football before. Come on,
come on, like that's what I fell in right. Maybe

(24:12):
the Bills game coming up next time against the Steelers
seven o'clock NFL Network, it's a lot more important because
then we'll have a little feel like ooh, that wasn't
just hard knocks. There actually are concerns for Buffalo. Do
you feel as if Game two will give us any
insight or enough? Guys, I've already given you my preseason take.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
Enough, guys, I.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Did already give you my preseason take. I'm not gonna
get too worried. I will tell you, and if you
listen to Bill Belichick or Nick Saban, it takes between
four to six weeks of a regular season to really
figure out an identity of a team. So I'm not
worried about the preseason. I'm worried about the regular season.

(24:55):
In that first four to six weeks, are we super
struggling to find our our identity? Do we forget it's
okay to run the ball in Buffalo again, or do
we realize there is addition by subtraction of Stefan Diggs,
and it is okay to run the ball on a
consistent basis, and it is okay to put it on

(25:18):
the shoulders of Josh Allen to spread the wealth.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
Yeah, uh yes, this is sort of like those feelings
that remember when we all freaked out in August, Remember
that all happened when that team we were concerned about
what was going to happen because Hard Knocks and Ray
Donovan Lea of Shreiver were acting as if this team
had never played football before in Chicago was gonna go
win the Super Bowl, and George Hallis is gonna rise
and that players by the name of Chad Morton and

(25:45):
Ian Wheeler and Austin Reid We're gonna be the future.
Austin Reid explaining what Love Island was to Coole Comet.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
I'm not falling in love with Austin Reid. They try
to do it every single year. They find a guy
on Hard Knocks that's border line. Does he make the team?

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Does he not? I'm not gonna fall in love with him.
Not gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
You know what, I absolutely love about this stuff, and
this happens I think everywhere from colleges to professional It'd
be cool if it happened in high school, but I
believe just because of the wacky schedule that is now
high school fooball in New York State, we don't get
this as much. When you get the one on ones,
when you get the trash talk and you get to
see the best battle against the best Jet fans.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Remember this.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Remember when Sauce Garner and Garrett Wilson in twenty twenty
three were going up against each other, yep, and it
was rookie on rookie and there was healthy trash talk
like that is the stuff. College is actually more exciting
about the one on ones than the NFL because you
have a pretty good idea of who your guys are
gonna be in the NFL because of contracts, where they're picked,
and the impact and the legacy of what they've done

(26:48):
already in their careers. No matter what happens in the
one on ones, you kind of know what's gonna happen.
But it's cool to watch college guys positions are on
the line, Like if you're gonna be a starter or
a backup. You could actually have that decided in practice.
The competition is so heavy. But seeing dudes like Keenan
Allen battle Johnson on the outside, Roma Dunza getting the advice,

(27:08):
you know, like seeing that stuff when guys are battling
and having it out on the field. That stuff is
pretty awesome.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
I even like seeing like Lewis Jones trying to change
up position and get his inner Cordel Patterson going on like.
I enjoyed that as well. But absolutely Jalen Johnson going
against Keenan Allen was a thing of beauty.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
They're laughing about it. You know, I should have had
you on this one. You should have had me on
that one.

Speaker 11 (27:34):
You know.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
I absolutely love it. So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
If I asked you this question, more likely, less likely,
no difference at all. Can you see the bears of
the playoff team?

Speaker 3 (27:47):
I can see the bears of but I need to
see Caleb Williams perform at a higher level. I'm not
gonna say a high level, because I do think there's
a solidified talent around him, especially with Keenan Allen and
DJ Moore there. He's been put in a position that
Justin Fields has to be looking over there like why

(28:09):
not me?

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Why didn't you do this for me?

Speaker 3 (28:12):
So he has been set up for success immediately. Now
can he take that leap immediately? That remains to be seen.
Like Nick Saban said, you know the first episode, there's
gonna be a lot of pressure on this guy to
come in and perform right away. So if he can
let the game come to him and realize he has
talent around him. He has DeAndre Swift, he has Keenan Allen,

(28:33):
he has Odoonzay, he has all these guys. Just let
the game come to him. This could be a playoff team.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
I never got a chance to ask you this earlier
in the summer when the decision was made of what
team to follow. Who was going to be the team?
And I'm taking get rid of all like the well,
they've got to be a playoff team from the season before.
They can't like all those restrictions of what could be
twenty twenty four. You get to pick any of the
thirty two NFL t including your favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles.

(29:02):
Right now, the Bears have been intriguing and people have
enjoyed it, and like I said records that he numbers,
and you called it the Saban effect. You get to
pick one of the thirty two teams, who would you
have won to see in Hard Knocks this year? Or
you know what, let me phrase that a reality show
version of a team. You can call it whatever you want,
Hard Knocks, one, Jets, Drive, anything you want. If you
got a reality show like this, of any team, who

(29:24):
would you pick?

Speaker 2 (29:24):
And why? Honestly?

Speaker 3 (29:26):
I like that they did it with the Bears because
of the way that they've built up their team recently,
the first overall pick of Caleb Williams.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
I like that way.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
But if you're forcing me to pick, I would have
to go in house commanders. Ooh, why the Commanders. I'm
a Jaden Daniels fan, and that team has been riddled.
We talk about historic franchises that are riddled throughout their careers,
the history of them. That has been a team that

(29:55):
just can't seem to piece it together. Since, like Doug
Williams and all that stuff, Jayden Daniels can reinvigorate that team.
They have so much talent on that offense with Donson
and Scary Terry. There is so much talent there that
has not been used to its full potential that I

(30:17):
would love to watch the progression of it.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
I think you listened to our NFL preview show because
you like the Bears, and the other day somebody also
liked Washington came on the show. Sean Martin said he
loved Jalen Daniels and could have a huge season. Jayden
Daniels have a huge season. I think the Commanders have
a chance for the postseason. I think they're gonna be
that good this season. I think their schedule works out
perfect for them and new ownership. Dane Quinn Right, isn't

(30:43):
dan Quinn's legacy of what would have happened if he
held on to the twenty eight three lead. I believe
he was the coach of the Falcons in that game,
and that almost almost speaks to if I have to
question who the coaches of the Falcons of the twenty eighth,
Kylee Shanakin gets all the heat on it, so I
have to lost run it.

Speaker 5 (30:58):
It was.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Mike Smith.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
That was dan Quinn. Right, how differently we view his
career Now, I'm with the Commanders, but I think it's
because I think they're gonna be the season of the
surprise the NFL team. One of my favorite wagers of
the whole year is the overtotal on the Commanders. My
answer is to the Cowboys. I love the Bucks. The
Jets are fun. We've talked about them, We've seen the Giants.
The answer in twenty twenty four is to Cowboys, if

(31:21):
you can give me an open mic into the room
of Jerry Jones yelling about ceedee lamb.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
Don't we already get that? Basically, I want more.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
I want more Zach Harris. I want more about Dak Prescott,
Micah Parsons, Zeke Elliott looking old and falling over and
drills and him to pull his shirt up like he's
an old man on the couch. I want everything about
the cow I want to find out if Jerry Jones
is convinced that this Cowboy team right now is gonna
win the Super Bowl, and that's why he's not moving anything.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
So you want a senile man to forget he's being recorded, yes, and.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
Say something disgustingly awesome.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
For radio shows are talking about rewatching the Jinks season two,
Robert Durst, is that what I'm doing right now? I
saw The Jinks season one, Season two of the Jinks.
Would they wait about nine years? I was out after
two episodes. Season one of the Jinks is exactly what
you just said, an old senile man saying wild things
into a microphone, for getting the tape to have one
of the great shocking endings of any show maybe in

(32:21):
my lifetime. That's how unreal The Jinx was the first one.
Give me that to Jerry Jones, what do you mean
you want to sell the Cowboys for ten billion dollars?
What do you mean Shador, Sanders and Dion are coming?
I want it all now. We won't get that. That
would be fun. But I got to that would be fun.
I could answer my own question, so I would have
said that.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
I mean, basically, we are getting a hard knocks with them,
because Jerry Jones is just out here whiling saying, oh,
our three main players, we're not concerned with giving them
contracts even though there are three best players.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Like no, no big deal, love all this.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
I love when we get the content like this, like
whether you're an NFL team, whether you're a college team.
This idea that fans can tap into what's going on
with their favorite programs and teams and what they follow
around the clock. Is it the boost of modern technology media,
whether it's non traditional, it's social to really follow your
team and feel like you've got more access than ever before,

(33:16):
brings the emotion of fans to All those things are great.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
All those things are awesome, and hard knocks makes me
fall in love with players a lot more like I
appreciate what they do, the toughness of it, and how
well they progress throughout a season. It's amazing to see
an off season real quickly we talked about the Commanders.
I did want to offer some fantasy advice, So plug
your ears, guys, if we're going to be in the

(33:40):
same league, I don't want to hear this. Cliff Kingsbury
is now the offensive coordinator for the Commanders, loves his
slot receivers. Who's your slot guy, Dotson? So if you're
comfortable taking them as like a wide receiver for that
you can bump into your starting lineup, leave on the
bench every once in a while. That is a guy
that I would highly anticipate to have the type of

(34:02):
year we expected him to once he got drafted.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
His career has been so all over the place because
he's still fairly young, and I remember those years. There
were times at Penn State. Yes, I almost look. I
checked myself there because I'm like, I remember him playing
at Penn State and there were some flashes in moments
where I thought he was the best player in the country,

(34:27):
Like I'm like, why is he not getting the ball
every play? James Frank let get some heat and Happy
Valley a lot because of how the program is. And
I know, say Kwan Barkley was so tremendous when he
was there, but there were moments where dons and I'm like,
why is there an overth Just get him the ball.
Let That shows you how often I was waiting on
Penn State games and twenty one, and more so twenty

(34:47):
one because he got drafted in twenty two. But you
know what I mean that, like you see the best
player out there, you know who he is, and it's
like that's not over given the ball. Let him play.
He was fantastic in college. Man, He's he's waiting for
that moment to break out.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
He really and I think Cliff Kingsparry is a perfect
one to bring it to him because when he was
in Arizona, he loved his slot receivers. Now he's in
with the commanders. He got a slot receiver that has
a lot of speed. Just balls to the wall.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
There, go ahead and.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Draft, yes, no doubt. Hopefully we'll have some success coming up.
I don't know how everybody does their drafts now. Some
people do it on the computer. Some people make the
drive out to a different city, like until j earlier
in the show, Like I have the combination of computer drafts,
and then I do the one back where I grew
up in Syracuse. I make the two hour drive west.
My draft from I we'll call it the back Home
League is Sunday, September first, right after that Syracuse football game,

(35:37):
and I will beginning to Syracuse. Thanks to our friends
in Mohawk Kanta, I've got a wonderful CRV out there
in the iHeart Albany Parking Lot. I love my twenty
twenty four CRV. My wife is a recent owner of
a twenty twenty four Odyssey as well. Whatever vehicle you're
looking for, is your lifestyle continues to change, Mohawk Kana
wants to work with you. Maybe it's time for the pilot.
Maybe you're talking about the EV prologue. So many great

(35:59):
things going on, not just with vehicles by the way
at mohaw Kana if you follow them on social media.
Look at the great moments we had over across the summer,
Greg Johnson and the team going out to local churches
here in Boston Spa and helping with the food drive
and helping people in need across the five one eight.
Shout out to everybody over there. We were there earlier
this month. We saw some of the food coming in.

(36:19):
Great job from sales to service to marketing and everybody
in mohaw Kana helping out. The five one eight ends
well mohawk Kanda, where they always go out of their
way to please you. Zach Harris, You've got one segment
to go. As Adam Shine likes to say one of
my radio itels, we got one to play with here.
We've got the dump coming up. I've got to take
about an athlete We've touched on a lot in the

(36:40):
history of this show and maybe I'm completely done with him.
And Zach Harris has got something for you as well.
We'll find out about all those things as we close
out this Wednesday. Addition to lave Aking Cohn's right here
in the Voice of the Capital Region, sportsman Fox Sports
ninety five nine. At nine eighty you met with the
stable boy. Despite your father's orders, he hoisted you onto

(37:00):
the set. It's Lavak and Guz on ninety five nine
Fox Sports Radio sort of one more time, Final Time,
Final segment here on this Wednesday edition to Levan Goa's
Final Time. We're in studio for the week. We will
hit the River's casino and resort tomorrow with Saratoga on Friday,
and tomorrow. The guy who I've been talking to the
last three hours, Zach Harris, will be back with you.

(37:22):
A lot of pressure on you, Zach tomorrow because we
have the C four Smart Energy Bank will challenge rolling on.
You will be wagering for Lavac. I believe. I don't
know if he's gonna give you the full rain, but
you'll be back there. Andrew Champayn's gonna join us. Do
you feel that he added pressure on the River shows
compared to other shows?

Speaker 3 (37:38):
You do, Levac, if you're listening, do not let me
take the reins on this. I am not a good
horse better so you will want to get in those picks.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Not only that he's in first place, he had a
huge hit last week at i'st one dollar paid sixty
six dollars for Lavac last week, so he has a
first play spot atop the leader boarders. We compete against
our friends over Quinn Cantarat picks one oh six. Zach
may be stepping in for the back find out all
that stuff tomorrow. But this is the dump all the
things we missed during the show.

Speaker 11 (38:11):
Zach.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
I know you're feeling in today. I know you're the guest,
but I'd like to cut the line here. I would
like to go first. If you don't mind, that's fine,
all right, cool, I got Connon McGregor's stuff. I want
to cash a ticket. I want to say I was right.
I don't want to be right on this one. I
know a lot of people love saying how terrible some
of my tickes are. I can get this one, this
one I'm right about. Connor McGregor, according to multiple reports,

(38:32):
will not fight in the UFC. In twenty twenty four,
Dana White addressed the future of Connor McGregor on his
show on ESPN. Dana White quote, we talk, he wants
to fight. We'll figure it out.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Not this year.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
He won't fight this year. For those who don't remember,
Connor McGregor was scheduled to fight this year, maybe UFC
three to zero three on June twenty ninth, against Michael Chandler,
but allegedly, and I'll stick by this, allegedly, a broken
toe forced Connor McGregor out of the bout nearly two
weeks before it was started. This was supposed to be
the fight of the summer for the UFC bot. If

(39:06):
you've got social media, you may have noticed Connor McGregor
didn't look like he was working out. Connor McGregor was
on the dance floor making sure his say nasal cavity
was still intact and enjoying the nice life of being
a millionaire and billionaire approaching I'm done with Connor McGregor.
At one point it was the cool thing to do.

(39:27):
Connor McGregor was the man. If you say the word
UFC and tell somebody on the street right now, we
walked out the Troyce connected your own it right now,
started give me five UFC fighters. Ever, Connor McGregor is
one of the first people you mentioned. That's a huge
compliment to what he's done for the sport. Nine years
since Thealdo knocked out, ten years since he burst onto

(39:48):
the scene. He's won once I think the last seven
years since the stat I was there in the garden.
That was an amazing moment, but that was twenty sixteen.
I'm good if McGregor never fights. He had a run.
We don't have to keep doing this. It's better for
the sport if they find somebody else. How do you
feel about Connor McGregor. You're still a fan? You still
want to see him fight? Or have we gone past

(40:09):
the glory years that have been HOI no, magrega.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Listen here, you weasel.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
So first of all, I am a huge Connor McGregor fan.
He reinvigorated my love for UFC, way past the time
when you know you'd fight ten fights in one night.
That's the UFC that I grew up loving. Now, all
of a sudden, Connor McGregor burst on the scene. There
was Connor McGregor and John Jones. Those were my two guys.
Now neither of them are forever seen. I will tell

(40:37):
you this, I am all for a person getting their money,
whether man, woman, whoever. I'm all for you getting your money.
You want to get your money and dip by all means,
go get your money. Dip, but don't be tiptoeing the
line saying you're coming back. Get us all excited again,
get the fans that don't normally watch UFC all excited again,
and then just bounce for whatever reason. There's always something

(41:00):
thing with him, always something going on with this guy. Okay,
I got a movie to do. Okay, I broke a toe, Okay,
you know my leg injury is taking.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
Longer to heal.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
Blah blah blah, Just over and over and over again
with the excuses. If you want to take your money
and dip, by all means, go ahead. Yah, worked hard,
you earned it. Leave us behind, that's fine, but don't
don't get us all excited for nothing.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
I'm trying to even find like a cross sport comparison
that even works from McGregor. Like the closest would maybe
be the Olympics of you only see an athlete compete
in the Olympics, but that that's not even kind of
works because sometimes those are the times we know it's
certain athletes, whether it's swimming or track and field and volleyball,
So like the Olympic analogy wouldn't work. I keep thinking
about the WWE now with the Rock, or like the

(41:47):
Rock will just come back for WrestleMania or some other
event and people are still into it. But the WW
isn't the UFC, you know, like some of this is
storytelling bass. So like if people get frustrated the Rock,
I know he's a bad guy now that the final boss.
That doesn't even work either. So McGregor, I'm I've convinced

(42:08):
myself I'm not gonna get the next McGregor fight. I
feel like if you just retire, step aside, like you said,
do the acting thing, do something else. Fine, Look you
did like the liquor business. He made a ton of money. Man,
maybe the aura of Connor McGregor is what he always
wants to still that, Like, boxers don't even do this anymore.
So I'm done with Connor McGregor. A wonderful career, we

(42:28):
both agree, one of the most popular fighters, something easy
to root for when he's in the prime of his career.
But we don't have to do this anymore.

Speaker 11 (42:34):
We don't.

Speaker 1 (42:34):
We don't have to lie that we all thought he
was gonna fight in twenty twenty. We all saw. We
all have phones on our we all have cameras on
our phones. We all have phones too. Yes, I was
right for both of us. We knew this wasn't gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (42:45):
We knew that he was gonna be this big celebrity
out doing whatever. Like I said, there's always something with
this guy. If he needs to be on the dance floor,
he's gonna be on a dance floor. He don't care
who's watching. Uh.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
That's my part of the dump today. Do you have
some Do we have a story we miss something you
wanted to hit on, anything you wanted to make sure
we squeezed into the show today that we didn't have
a chance to talk about.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
I know we've discussed a lot today. One thing that
I didn't get a chance to talk to you about
sincely he last spoke. I had my daughter's birthday party.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
Happy birthday, whoooo and I got my wife to buy
in on a PS five.

Speaker 6 (43:23):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
Yeah, take me through this.

Speaker 4 (43:25):
How did it happen?

Speaker 5 (43:26):
I want?

Speaker 10 (43:26):
I want what.

Speaker 1 (43:27):
I can't believe we waited till the dumptor this. Take
me through the process.

Speaker 2 (43:30):
What happened? Okay? So I told my wife.

Speaker 3 (43:34):
I was like, listen, ten years, I haven't had a
game system. I'm not a big gamer. But NCAA's back.
Gotta get Madden. I have to get back into the
gaming system just to kind of fill in those holes.
You know, once college football NFL season starts, basically every
single night's gonna be mine. You have a couple off nights.

(43:55):
I need the game to fill in those spots. I
gotta scratch that itch for me. So finally she is like, yeah,
so I go ahead and get Crash Bandicoot Sonic. I
got NC double A, and then once Madden comes out,
I'm Madden on the way. So I got that Sunday.
Oh I haven't been playing every day, okay, but I've
been playing enough.

Speaker 1 (44:14):
Let me go back to the games you picked up.
That is a solid four right there. Like you've got
the good mix of sports soon to be mad in
the classics, so a little mix like you want to
make the wife happy, daughter happy, niece's nephew's. Like, you've
got the good mix of Okay, if you're gonna play
this on a rainy day, you're gonna play this in
the weather starts to change, or just have a couple

(44:36):
hours to rip, and then you get yours. That's the
perfect combination. So NCAA, you have not played it yet.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
I've played it a little bit. I've played it all
day Sunday and then here and there through there throughout
the week. I know it's only going into Wednesday, but
throughout the week. I played it one day the other
day whatever. I will say. I got the biggest eye
roll from my wife the other day because I went
over to my grandma's house.

Speaker 2 (44:57):
She's got a huge backyard. I had to mow the lawn.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
My back's killing me. I'm dripping sweat. I go, I
really earn this NC double a game playing today. She goes,
are you kidding me? At like shout first. So yeah,
that's what's going on in the Harris household right now.

Speaker 1 (45:14):
There's two images that are popping in my head. Do
you tell on that story? The first one is I
know this. Maybe somebody listening also made this connection. Zach
said he played all day Sunday. Zach is a part
of our Sunday WGY team. You hear him on the
g Dog Show, The Great Joe Gallagher. His name right
up here in the legendary WGY studios. So I just
imagined like Joe was doing the show and you somehow

(45:35):
brought the system in and we're playing dirty.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
That did not happen, right. I thought about it.

Speaker 3 (45:39):
You know, I figured I might be able to hook
it up to the TV in here, but ultimately I
decided not to do it.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
The second thing I thought of is like, I know
you're an Alabama football fan, and a lot of people say, okay,
you play with your favorite team on the game. You
go online. I know there's a spot I believe the
NC doublea action where a lot of well more veteran
users hel'll describe you. Me and le Is, we don't
we don't want to play online. We want to play
against computer. We want to do a dynasty. We want
to do our own thing. We want to play different features.

Speaker 2 (46:07):
What happened to you?

Speaker 1 (46:08):
Did you dive to online world? Were you practicing? Were
you playing with Bama? I got a lot of questions
about this.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
Okay, So even though I've only played a couple of days,
I am almost through my first season as a player,
and I will let you know. Zach Harris is the
starting running back for the Buffaloes.

Speaker 1 (46:24):
The Colorado Buffaloes, No, oh, just Buffalo. I just had
to hype it up because the Colorado Buffaloes would have
been so cool.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
But no, just Buffalo, the.

Speaker 1 (46:33):
Buffalo Bulls of the MAC. Yes, that's incredible, All.

Speaker 2 (46:38):
Mac, First Team, All Rookie, All Americans.

Speaker 1 (46:41):
Is Zach Harris gonna hit the portal or he's gonna
build a dynasty with Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (46:45):
I think I'm gonna have to hit the portal.

Speaker 3 (46:47):
I'm moving on up, maybe a Colorado, maybe Dion Sanders
will come calling.

Speaker 1 (46:51):
This game is too realistic when you've started off as
I don't know, a two or three star at Buffalo,
and you're already considering what you're gonna do in the
portal after your first team all Maxillae. This is why
video games are great.

Speaker 12 (47:02):
Right now?

Speaker 3 (47:03):
Well, of course, right now I have to give my
family involved, So it's a discussion me and my wife
will have.

Speaker 1 (47:08):
You know, do I stay here with Buffalo or do
I move on to bigger.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
Better things.

Speaker 3 (47:12):
Maybe you know, I get a scholarship with Alabama or
a walk on whatever. I got to figure out all
my options. You can always enter the transfer polal and
come back. So we're good.

Speaker 1 (47:21):
Can you do me a favor when that day comes
when you and your you and the Harris family sits
down and have to talk about and your poor wife's
confused about what's happening. Can you when you make that decision,
do it on the gy socials, Just like confuse g
dong for me and be like Joe made a decision.
I'm taking to my talents to South Beach and I'm
going to Miami and you pull out a hurricane hat

(47:43):
and he's what are you talking about? You know, Joe,
you know I've been working hard in them. Just confuse
the poor man. Please do that for me. I need
that content in my life.

Speaker 2 (47:52):
I might need to do that for you.

Speaker 3 (47:54):
He's not a big video gamer, but you know, I
don't even think he knows PS five is out. He
might still be on like Rubik's cubes. And you know
regular things that you play with your hands. You don't know,
the bat, the paddle with the ball.

Speaker 2 (48:07):
You know who knows? With him?
