Speaker 1 (00:00):
Second to last of the for the race season. Here right,
someone called this the penumbtial, an ultimate penumbtial? Is that ultimate?
What's the word I just said. No, it's not a
word penultimate. Uh, hold on a second, I'm just setting
up for something. Second to last. You're right, Levat, you
(00:20):
have just two remaining? Are you firing off a bet
right there?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
No, A buddy of mine is going to take a
look at my boiler. He's like, I don't think your
boiler's broken. I was like, okay, I'll see you tonight
and then uh, and then he was like, I can't
come tonight.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Is anybody there now? So I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
My here's the thing, if you don't fix your boiler
before September, you're gonna pay way more money because now
you got to start turning things on. So if he
can get over there and fix things up, let's go.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
He's a good dude, he's willing to do it. Let's roll.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Sorry, Sorry, I'm worried about heating my home. Guys, it's
been an odd start to the show because you had
action there in the race what ninety I had no action?
And then neither did Quinn.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
No, well, so I had the one because it was
it was one of those rare times where we had
two horses running out of the one slots. He had
a one in a one A. One of his name
was Bronx Bomber. It's got Jose or Tees on it.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
The other horse is something JT that's got Irad or
Tez on I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Like, okay, so one's winning this race.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
You get two chances with your tez bros, you're gonna
win this thing. So I did is I put money
on the one across the board, two across the board,
set six bucks, and then I did a dollar double
with everybody in the second race with the next race,
not the second race, and there was only three horses,
so it was a three dollar bet.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
So I still have one dollar left. I'll give you
what that's gonna be later.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
But lost both those because the Irad came in third,
and I think Jose Ortiz just finished now, so.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Well, you lost, if it makes you feel any better.
That was also Quinn's playing the day today. He had
the five dollars exact box two eight in race four.
It did not hit. He's now out, so you only
have Cantara or me to catch you today. This has
now happened three times this year, three times, and he
witnessed all of them. That you know what, here my
(02:08):
plays of the day. Here's what I'm gonna lock in.
Here my plays for the competition. But I'm just gonna
fire off another one just for fun, just one just
from my bank roll. And I've only done that, I
think five times the entire summer, three of the five
of it, including that last trifecta that just hit for me.
It's no standing movement, only pocket movement.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
It's funny because last year with football, I was able
to win football, but I won more bets that I
beten myself than I did what I bet for the charity.
And now this year you're doing the same thing, except
for you're just not winning enough for the charity.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
On top of it, I still have the lead with that.
I feel good, though, I feel good about my terested. Hey,
Champagne scheduled Jonas in twenty minutes. He's had some bad luck.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Guys hanging out on the pink sheets again.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I think the last three weeks is that whether it's weather,
whether it's surface change, but scratches. He's had bad luck
for what you're just gonna mention this action action for
his place. He feels a lot better about what he's
all for now today with just as you mentioned, today
and next Thursday before potentially a new champions crown less
cants here can hit something big today or next week
(03:15):
to reclaim his title.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
I cleaned off a spot on the shelf at my
desk so that I have the twin towers of trophies
right there, the NFL one which will be mine until
somebody beats me this year, if anyone has the ability
to beat me, and then you know, hopefully I'll be
adding that horse racing trophy, the Sea Force Margy Bankrold
Challenge horse Racing Trophy, which means make a wish, getting
nice little donation from us and our friends at C four.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
All right, so we are here at Rivers.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
It's a great day and here I'm I've already wandered
around lost twenty blocks pretty quick.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
So if you find it, bring it to me.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yankees already playing up five to nothing middle of the
sixth inning, going up against the Guardians today, so that's
that's cool. Get the get the eight to one win
last night. Judge two home runs last night. What did
Judge do so far today? Oh, he hit a home run,
so did Stanton. So they're not gonna lose now. They
don't lose when those two guys hit home runs together.
(04:12):
But uh, I mean we're looking at before the So
he's got forty eight home runs. Now, Judge is just
a monster at this point, right, I mean, he is
just an absolute monster. You brought this up off the air,
so I will share it with you now if I
can find where I left the notes. He is doing
(04:33):
something that, like, realistically doesn't make any sense. Jeff Passing
of the Four Letter Network posted, so this is last year.
So this is I'm sorry, not last year. This is
his MVP record breaking year. In twenty twenty two, through
one hundred and twenty seven games, Judge had a two
to ninety five average with forty nine home runs and
one hundred and nine RBIs so last night would have
(04:57):
been his one hundred and twenty seventh game of this season,
so it doesn't count. What's happened today, He's got a
three thirty four average and forty seven home runs one
hundred and seventeen RBIs so now he's got forty eight
home runs. Another rb I or two, but like, if
it's not for Bobby Wood Junior, we're talking triple Crown.
(05:19):
And it's funny because the last dude that hit home
runs at this pace that we weren't looking at, going is.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
He doing the juice? Is he doing to something?
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Was Ted Williams, who if I'm not mistaken with last
guy to win the Triple Crown?
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Yes, oh no, what somebody wanted sense?
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Right? Oh man, you're gonna make me test my mind here.
Migul Cabrera. Did he mcgl Cabrera on the Triple Crown? Yes?
Oh my, this is a true story. My dad used
to do this. He was my little league coach and
he used to always offer up these questions of like
a fun thing to learn about baseball teen of practice
and one of his favorite ones was who was the
most recent player to win the Triple Crown? I want
to say Carl Yastremski is also on that list. I
(05:57):
think before Cabrera it was him. Double check me on that.
If my dad is listening, he's gonna send me a
text in massive capital letters that I got that wrong. Uh.
Speaking about Judge though, I think Albert Poolhole should be
mentioned in that mix as well. Jeff Passing Fence. Ted Williams,
Albert Poolholes because of the era he played in, was
putting up incredible numbers. Two and he's a top seven
or eight home run guy of all time, six hundred
(06:19):
plus in his career. This is incredible. If you're a
Yankee fan, everything Judge is doing, we should feel spoiled
about how good it is, because even some of this
twenty twenty two, twenty twenty four, remember, and we have
to put this in fo there's a bunch. There's a bunch.
Ted Williams, did it is strip Scale on the list? Yeah? Okay,
(06:40):
I got that. And Cabrera's on the list too.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Correct, Okay, all right, so twenty twelve Miguel Cabrera. But
I thought I knew I was missing Cabrera. But I
do that sometimes to make everybody run to Twitter. I
didn't realize that, you try. I knew it was a
Red sad. I guess the year is it? Is it
sixty nine or seventy nine? Sixty seven? Was you Stremski
for the Red Sox sixty six? Frank Robinson for you boys? Yeah,
(07:07):
fifty six, Mickey mannld in forty seven forty two was
old Teddy Williams.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
But like, I mean, come on, come on now, who
was the last one in the National League? Do you
have that? The last one in the National League? Did
did you do?
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Nineteen thirty seven? Joe Medwick of the Saint Louis Cardinals.
Whoa stat to go back to a guy that you
probably remember because the Chuck Cleine. I know we know
the name, but we don't know ch Rogers Hornsby Cards.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Twenty two and twenty five to that.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Wow, you know covered Roger Hornsby who Roger why well?
Ivel out the light ranking an amazing season by Aaron
Judge and he's not even done. No, like I'm done.
Back to what I was discussing, there were Judge. He
got hurt a few times in his pivotal seasons early
on in his career, and he missed a ton of games,
(08:01):
and people questioned whether or not this is gonna be
the future of Aaron Judge. Can he stay healthy? Is
he too big? I remember covering all those storylines. So
in this part of his career he got hurt. He
also's one of the athletes who dealt with the COVID
season that was shortened twenty twenty. So you think about
what Judge is doing right now, which is absolutely historic,
but injuries plus COVID also factored into the prime years
(08:24):
of his career. What we're looking at right now with
Aaron Judge realistically could even be better for what his
career has offered so far. You want to talk, it's
spoiled for New York sports fans and spoiled for Yankee fans.
This guy is at a historic pace right now. And
if you're a fan of the Orioles, or the Guardians,
or the Mariners, of the Astors everybody else, it's positioned
(08:47):
right now. It's poised to be a postseason where there
is nobody Otani wit Lindor Ramirez that there is not
a single person who will step to the plate in baseball,
and it will be more feared for the impact he
can have with one sing of the bat that Aaron
Judge well back, we have entered apart and this hurts
as an orial thing because I don't want it happened
in to this twenty twenty fourteen that has a contention
(09:08):
to win, But it's true. We have now hit the spot.
Now that when judge steps through the plate in the postseason,
this is Barry Bonds. Like, remember Bonds's Giant team got
to the Angels in that World Series and where nobody
really wanted to pitch the Bonds ever, but especially that
postseason run. We're at that level. We're twenty plus years
when he goes to the plate. Nobody's gonna have the
same type of impact since Bonds, And I want to
(09:31):
say that's two, but oh one, he broke the record
when he steps in and has that type of impact
for a lineup.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Bonds was interesting though there's two.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
There's there's two levels to why the career clearer. Oh
the body Bonds were he had the full ar guard,
the shitting guard, all that, so he would crowd the hell.
You couldn't pitch him inside because you were gonna hit
him and he wasn't gonna feel it because he's the
body armor on. That was the thing is like if
(10:01):
you look at the judges doing this clean and he's
not wearing body armor, He's just like he's sitting there
like was it yesterday?
Speaker 3 (10:08):
It was yesterday's game.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
He he misses the ball, he steps out, it hits
the curve ball of the wall, Like it's just like
it's just one of like, oh oh.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
You think you're sneaky. I saw what you did there.
You better not do it again. You did it again?
Go on like it's not even bad pitches. No, you
miss a little bit and he's taking you over the wall.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
It's it's been.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
It's been fun to be And right there with him
is Sodo one SODA's amazing. If Stanton starts hitting, or
well starts hitting, we could be into a very different
like like, I'm still frustrated with the Yankees because of
the bullpen, because of the lack of hitting with runners
in the scoring position. But that's that's that's gonna be me.
That's who I am. But think about this, If Sodo
(10:51):
stays the way he is, if Judge stays the way
he is, we're just close to the way they are.
Stanton Wells, whoever starts hitting like hitting hitting, you could
be in real trouble if you face the Yankees in
a series.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Remember when I was mocked earlier this week about asking
the questions so many things?
Speaker 3 (11:10):
What did I mock you for this time.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Asking the question and whether or not this was the
matchup between the two best teams in the American League
and what the impact of the series could be. I
feel like that's over. I know, I know Cleveland won
the first game of the series. I get it. I
know the Guardians won the game one of the series.
But watching this series and what Judge just did, like
this is the the answer is the Yankees. It's over.
Like it's the answer is the New York Yankees. You're
(11:33):
better than the Guardians in Baltimore. If you wanted to
power rank Baltimore at two. The biggest problem for Baltimore
is is even in this series coming up later on,
it's like, Okay, look what he's doing. Unless you're figuring
out a way to pitch around him, he's gonna beat you.
He is going to beat you at the plate. Cleveland
couldn't figure that out today. Other teams haven't been able
(11:53):
to figured out all season. That's the problem. Now, you know,
if we power ranked the American League. As much as
I want to defend Baltimore as much as be fun
to say Houston's the Boogeyman, this is historic stuff that's
going on here involved in Big ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
It's it's thirty two years old. I mean you kind
of you got a little bit of a late start.
Still the fastest got a three hundred home runs, and
he's just he's on an absolute tear. How many years
can he be on this absolute tear? I guess becomes
the question when you want to think about where you're
gonna put him all time, which again, thirty two, he's
(12:27):
got time. He's not going away yet, but you know,
can he do this for three, four, five more years?
A thirty seven year old Aaron Judge hit forty home
runs fifty home runs. If he's hitting fifty home runs
into thirty seven to thirty eight, he's gonna now we're
now we're gonna start really considering where he could end up.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
I'm just laughing because of the connection of the stary era,
which there shouldn't be, but we're referencing a tweet from
Jeff Passon. But I think about these like bulls at
the plate, Conseko and Bonds and h We the late
Ken Caminetty, just guys who had ad Jason giamb you
had muscles coming out of their aunt. Thomas Frank. I
don't know if Frank Thomas got accused of PDS. I
(13:10):
think he was always big. But I get you're saying
huge muscle more. I do this, yes, yes, but it's
like I think Frank Thomas dying. Where you going with this?
And Jim Tomy's probably this discussion too, just massive human
beings where if you get to thirty seven years old,
he's six foot eight, he's not gonna become six three
all of a sudden, might have seven happening right, like
(13:32):
he's still gonna have power at the plate. Aaron Judge
could go at thirty seven years old to d h
you know, big hoppies sort of like this too, where
it's realistic to say, you know what, he might not
be a votefielder that he is now, but could he
give you fifty even if he gave you a thirty
at thirty seven or thirty five?
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Basicly Aaron does he hung around and kept him thirty
home runs, which is amazing. Like what's what's weird is
just that we've already become accustomed to this, Like like
the way we look at Patrick Mahomes, patri mackhost he
throws behind the back, completes a pass to Travis Kelcey
in a preseason game and We're all just like, of course.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
He did, you know what I mean? Of course, of
course Pat Mahomes threw that ball.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Judge, it's three home runs in the last you know,
four or five at bats, and of course he did.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Of course, Judge had more home runs. Like, dude, It's
just like, don't don't sleep on this. If you're a
baseball fan, enjoy it because he's he by all measures
of what we know, he's a good guy and he's
playing great baseball. And every time he gets up, you
could be watching a highly reil every single time.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
It could be sports in our top ten. Uh you
know Levan guys gushing over it the next day. Well,
maybe more lowax than guys, but I think that's true.
Keep it going, big fellow.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
I forgot our guy Jaywell was in here earlier and
he's like, is there anything on the TV? And I
forgot the Yankees were even on because I was watching.
I was waiting for the race. So they are over there.
I can see him over in the sports book. Looks
like a Garrett goal Is is gonna be pretty much
done for the day. But man, oh man, if pitching
is the issue still, if the Yankees pitching gets right.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
We could have ourselves.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Aw hand, I make myself a name for myself there
it is all right. Listen the Elevator brand, just like
the Yankees did by going again Wan so on Am,
by getting Aaron Jojo. How do you do that on

(22:00):
to cover today. Just with two weeks remaining, We've got
the travers. But before we tell all those things, let's
talk about the Alabama. What did you take away from
that race? Fans at Saratoga that weekend and more, one
of the big races of the year, Alabama. Your thoughts
in this past weekend.
Speaker 20 (22:16):
What I took away from that race was gratitude for
Power Squeeze, because that was very, very, very good for me.
I have had a lot of respect for that horse,
going back to early on in the campaign when she
beat Ways and Means in the Gulf Stream Park Oaks
that day. She had every right to give up the
ghost when Ways and Means came up and challenged her,
but she showed a lot of fight. And I like
(22:38):
seeing horses that have a little bit of fight to
them as opposed to ones that wait for other horses
to come up and then like running with their friends
and all of that stuff. Horses are traditionally pack animals,
and I like seeing horses that seem to know where
the wire is, and with Power Squeeze, that's exactly what
you're getting. She and her last two starts has won
(22:59):
a pair of photo finishes, and she added a Grade
one win to the resume in the Alabama. Now, as
we mentioned last week, as far as divisional honors are concerned,
the race likely did not have a lot in the
way of significance, especially if Thorpedo Anna either wins or
just runs well in the travers on Saturday. But the
(23:20):
Alabama is one of my favorite races on the Saratoga program.
Love seeing top Donch horses go a mile and a
quarter and Power Squeeze is a really cool horse that
was also very profitable for me on Saturday afternoon.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Oh it feels good when you get the profit off
the horse and then you can show I saw the
picture you shared on social media, the blip you had
on Power Squeeze and everything else, Well done, my friend,
nice hit. It always feels good when you're putting the
picks public and you get the cash tickets like that.
So let's look forward to Saturday. The big race we
joked around yesterday. People still want to call it the
Midsummer Classic. Pat McKennis like, can we get a new
(23:54):
name for this, maybe the Late Summer Classic, the Late
Summer Derby, the Travers Stakes. Before we get your pick
and how you're handacamping this race, we have to aswer this,
is there a chance by the way you're looking at
this race on Wednesday and now today's Thursday and it
goes off on Saturday, is there anything really for you
that could potentially change the way you handicap this race
besides weather like today, your pick would be locked in
(24:16):
for Saturday.
Speaker 20 (24:18):
I don't know if it would necessarily be locked in
for Saturday, but watch the toad board very very carefully.
The morning line odds have Dornick as the five to
two favorite. Based on ability, he should be favored, but
Thorpedo Anna is going to take all of the casual money.
My thinking is she's going to dip down to about
(24:40):
nine to five or so, and that means other horses
are going to drift up. So if you like a
horse like dor Knock or Fierceness or Sierra Leone, watch
the toad board because at least one of those horses
is going to drift up considerably. Now will that affect
my top pick for the race? Not necessary early, But
(25:01):
there are two parts to one's handicapping strategy. There's looking
at the form and then there's putting your bankroll to work.
So the latter will absolutely be affected by what happens
leading up to the race on Saturday and what the
topeboard is telling you. The toteboard is the single most
valuable source of information you can possibly have at a racetrack.
(25:22):
It gets so overlooked with all of the data that's
out there, all of the past performances that are out there,
all the replays. The toteboard is your biggest source of information,
and this is one of those races where you need
to make sure you're using it all right.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
So let's break it down. Andrew Champagne, the Pink Sheets,
Winners and Miners, joins us here on the Elevation ten
thousand phone line. Elevates your brand. Today with Elevation ten thousand,
we broadcast live from Rivers Casino and Resort. This race
is Saturday, It's the Travers Stakes. What is your best
play for Saturday?
Speaker 20 (25:53):
For Saturday. I don't love that I'm saying this because
one of the few things that I have been right
about over the course of these three year old races
since the Kentucky Derby is that Sierra Leone finds ways
to beat himself and that I can't play him at
a short price. But he's not going to be a
(26:15):
very short price on Saturday. He's seven to two on
the morning line, and I think there's a chance, as
I mentioned that he drifts up for Peter, Anna has
to go from the rail door knock and Fierceness both
have to go there's other speed in the race. Batton
Down's not going to sit far back. The winner of
the Kurlin is not going to sit too far back.
(26:36):
This to me sets up for a closer. And if
you liked Sierra Leone at four to five in the
Jim Dandy, you are getting a much much much better
price on him going an extra furlong with a pace
to close into. I think Sierra Leone is probably going
to be my top pick in the Travers as it
(26:58):
sits right now, and I hope he drifts up from
that seven to two morning line price. I think seven
to two is at least fair. And as I've mentioned,
the betting money on Thorpedo Anna means you're going to
find value in at least one other horse on the board.
Maybe it's Doorknecker Fierceness that drifts up, but I doubt it.
I think it's Sierra Leone that drifts up. And if
(27:19):
he's the fourth choice in a race that sets up
for a closer, I think that's pretty appealing.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
So would you play Sierra Leone on top of anybody?
A flat bet, A try EFFECTA How do you play
the Travers stakes? What is the way you're going to
piece that wager together.
Speaker 20 (27:37):
I hate that I'm saying this, because if she wins,
it's a phenomenal story. At her price, I can't bet
Thorpedo Anna. I don't think there's any value in her
at eight to five or nine to five. If she
was in that nine to two five to one range,
I think she'd be fairly intriguing. But as I've mentioned,
all of the casual money is going to go that direction,
(27:59):
and she's just not going to be that price, even
with the pools as big as they're going to be.
I would advise playing Sierra Leone in an exact the
box with Dornick and Fierceness, and hopefully that winds up
being a case where either Dornick or Fierceness are the
one leading turning for home and they've got to deal
with Sierra Leone barreling down the stretch. Also, if Sierra
(28:21):
Leone finds a way to beat himself in or on
second bind one of those horses, we still cash a ticket.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
We are talking to Andrew Champagne on the elevation ten thousand.
Foone lines elevates your brain today with elevation ten thousand,
just two thursdays remain for the C four bank rule challenge.
Levak sits in first place, I'm in second, Quinn's in third,
Cantarras and fourth. As the term islic use, everybody's still
within striking distance. We have a ten dollars maximum. We
can use that any way we want, whether it's traffect
(28:48):
as exactly as exotics, pick threes, pickforce, however we piece
it together or break it down. Thursday's card, today's card
A lot of scratches already. But if you're looking for
your best play on a Thursday, how should we handle
our ten dollars bank roll today?
Speaker 20 (29:03):
So before I go into this, I just want to
apologize for the last couple of weeks because it's worse
than if my picks head run and lost. We have
gotten hit by surface changes in a variety of different
ways to where you haven't had any action, and as
a gambler, that's sickening. You'd rather lose than not have action, right, Right,
(29:24):
So we're gonna go and we're going to key my
strongest opinion of the day that's in race number seven.
We're not going to get a massive price on this horse.
But if number seven headline numbers runs back to the debut.
I don't think she loses. So the question is, okay,
that horse is going to be even money or so
how do we extract some value. Well, I'm going to
(29:47):
give you five two dollars doubles, two of which end
in race number seven, three of which start in race
number seven. The doubles that start in race number six
use number two any good body and number ten someone
with horse number seven in the seventh. So that's race
number six two dollars doubles two ten with seven. And
(30:08):
then starting in race number seven, we will single horse
number seven headline numbers in two dollars doubles that use
number one disco ball, number four Little Vic and number
five cavad in race number eight, trying to beat Gulfport
there because I just don't think that one offers any
value and is beatable at any rate. So once again,
(30:28):
that's five different two dollars doubles. So race number six
two dollars doubles two ten with seven, Race number seven
two dollars doubles seven with one, four and five. And
if you've got six dollars, throw a one dollar pick
three in there, covering all those horses starting in race
number six as well headline numbers. As mentioned, is going
to be a very heavy favorite. But using this strategy,
(30:51):
if one of these doubles hits, you're making money on
the day. If both of these doubles hit, you'll wind
up having a pretty darn good day for a ten
dollars investment.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
We just want action, like you said, we get some action.
We get how it goes. If it happens like that.
Some things you can't control, that's exactly right. We do
our best to make those things happen and hopefully that's
what we want. Just some action today and mother Nature
or anything else odd won't get in the way. Andrew
Champagne joined us here on the Phone Lines Elevation ten thousand,
again the phone lines brought to you by them. It's odd,
(31:21):
right because there's about two weeks left for us. But
with you and Brian, Mariano and Liam and Chris, it's
a great battle on the pink sheet coming down to
the wire with all of you contending for whom I
take the top spot this season.
Speaker 20 (31:36):
So it's been it's been a long meat for sure.
And I was talking to somebody that used to be
a part of the pink sheet pickbox. Last night, everybody
struggled the first half of the meat for a couple
of different reasons. There were some bonkers results. Personally, I
ran second a lot. The other thing to keep in
(31:57):
mind is if races come off the turn, the conventional
wisdom is that main track only runners have a distinct advantage. Well,
not so much in races contested out of the Wilson shoot,
where main track only horses have to break on the
far outside. That sort of trip means those horses are
(32:20):
conceding a lot of ground in the run to the backstretch.
That doesn't mean those horses can't win, but it means
they need to be about an hour the best horse
in order to do that. So it's one of those
instances where if you're just playing someone's top pick in
every race. First of all, you're probably doing it wrong,
(32:40):
because every handicapper has stronger opinions in some races than others.
But the usual clip that as a public handicapper you
want is three winners a day for forty days. That
gets you to one hundred and twenty. The best summer
I ever had was one hundred and forty two. Top
pick winners in a meet. Nobody's that, and nobody's going
(33:01):
to touch that this summer. If you get to one
hundred and twenty winners this summer, you're doing really, really well.
It's been a very challenging meet, lots of weather to
worry about. That doesn't make me a ninny worrying about
the weather. What that does mean is that I'm trying
to be thorough and I'm trying to anticipate things as
they come up and prepare for it the best way
(33:23):
I can. And if one of our friends, Matthew DeSantis
wants to debate me on that fact, he can join
me up in the balcony of the theater of the
Muppet Show, where we can re enact a Statler and
Waldorf routine, as we probably will forty years from now,
because that's the direction horse racing is going. Will be
the two old guys in the balcony heckling everybody.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
I hope it's not forty years round. I hope it's
next week when you come to the Capitol region, whether
it's Friday, when we're broadcasting live next Friday, in this
Friday Live from Saratoga, if you somehow land early and
you want to join us at Rivers next Thursday. All
those options around the table, I will find another microphone.
You guys can practice the Muppet routine if you want
live with us next Friday. If all the schedules work out,
(34:04):
I would love to see it. He is Andrew Champagne.
Keep us posted on your travel schedule, and who knows,
maybe this time next week we will see you in
person doing this maybe once or twice.
Speaker 20 (34:14):
Well, we'll see. I mean. My plan is on Sunday
to fly into New York City, spend some time with
my sister and her kids, who I don't get to
see nearly enough. I'm gonna enjoy a couple of days
at that, then spending some time with my dad in
Dutchess County. But I will be on track Thursday through Sunday.
I'm a really easy guy to find. Chances are, if
you're in a crowd, all you have to do is
(34:35):
look up and look for the big, tall guy with
a pink sheet over his shoulder.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Andrew're looking forward to having you in the five, one,
eight and all across New York coming up very soon.
Best of luck today, man, we'll talk again real soon.
Speaker 20 (34:47):
Take it easy, guys.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
There he goes our friend Andrew Champagne Man, looking forward

he likes you. And it's it's extremely obvious that mister

Man, it's so funny because, like Matthew Sandas is one
of the nicest humans alive.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
You can kind of see it.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
However, you can tell there's a little bit of a
like a mean streak in there.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
You can see the lyon behind the eyes. It's there.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
But anybody who bets horses gets angry at some point.
And then Andrew Champagne, like, listen, the only reason I
have any beef with him it is not the weather.
It's not that he's friends with you or the pink
sheets there, and so he knows the old that owl
and the owl and I have beef.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
I'm gonna take that outl out at some point has
he heard of that conversation? X Ermy, there is a
possibility on our show next Friday, because Tony Alvana has this,
we'll call it his series finale with us on Friday.
Matthew Destants will be with us the following Friday to
close out the meton, and Andrew Champagne will be in town.
So we could have a Sailor Waldorf or a you know,
a tag team match on the all of that. He
(40:51):
could come with this next week following Friday. Okay, so
next Friday, let's make sure we have at least four microphones.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
Let's make sure that we do whatever it takes.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
To have it done. I might have to figure that out.
I turned around. Deal is gonna be with them? Are
saying all girls look alone? That's not what I said
would be with us?
Speaker 3 (41:12):

She did a great job, she had everything set up
way before we got here today, and then you.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Just called her Delia. No, that's not what I'm man.
You're meaning everybody in the.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
Three o'clock hours yesterday, you were all over Tony Elevando.
You're all kept bringing up my four deceased father. Now
you're calling people by the wrong names. I need to
start having transcripts of this show. You know what you
need to you like, you're the Ryan Leaf of this show.
You're sensitive and then you blame other people.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
That's what he That's what I have no idea what
you're talking. What has a weird history, right if you
don't remember Ryan Leaf was there was a legitimate debate
over whether you should draft Peyton Manny or Ryan Leaf.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
Like that was a real thing that happened. Ryan Leaf
goes to paid Manny going to the Hall of Fame.
Ryan Leaf just fizzled out. Didn't do well with the Chargers,
Chargers about organization, didn't do good well with the Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (42:08):
Cowboys weren't a very good organization.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
Time ended up like having drug issues and breaking into
houses stuff like that. Fought his way back and and
is a very strong religious backbone.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
He believes in the church and everything. But he is
a little high strung. I think it's fair to say.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
Well, he hasn't called an ESPN game since last year,
and he is of the belief and said so on
some podcasts A hot shot or some nons whatever it
is that the people that got him booted were Kirk
Herb Street and Pat McAfee.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Whoa, he's going right to the top here, the two
heavy hitters. Well, okay, so it all stem it all
steps run.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
Back in last September, Lee Corso was talking about the
Oregon State Washington State matchup and he said he he said,
that's the nobody watches Bowl, Nobody watches US Bowl, to
which the Jack Dickert I'm sorry, Jake Dickard, the coach
for the Cougar is Washington State.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
You know, he went off.
Speaker 2 (43:14):
He's like, he's like, that's disrespectful. It's you know, no
one shows respect. Washington State has better program than that.
And then he got backed up by Ryan Leaf. Ryan
Leaf quote tweeted and said, and at college game Day
is supposed to be a celebration of college football. Instead
they choose to make it a big joke, and everyone
on the panel enables it. Just a bunch of wind socks,
(43:35):
hashtag cougs versus everybody one small minor issue. As you
know and as I know and anybody who's watched college
Game Day for a long time, Lee Corso's health is
not where it used to be, and sometimes he slurs
his words. He said that nobody wants us Bowl because
(43:56):
those two schools were being left out. While while the
Big Ten, the SEC and everybody were cherry picking all
the teams, those two schools weren't being picked yet. So
he said that, well, as we one of my favorite
things about Kirk kurb Street is you don't mess with
Lee Corso, and Kirk kurb Street's around like I love,
I love his defense of him. So herb Street retweets
(44:20):
Lee's tweet quote huh and then by the way, this
all happened September of last year.
Speaker 1 (44:27):
Uh huh? Is this a real tweet? He must have
been hacked.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
Ryan Lee's point, obviously all caps, was it's the two
teams that have been left out that haven't found a
home yet.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
Not that no one watches Bowl.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
Know you're excited about your boys, that your boys won,
but damn so allegedly that was enough for Ryan Leef
to believe that he is no longer here because of
he hurt the feelings of quote overly sensitive and narcissists
(45:04):
that are Kirk kurb Street and Pat McAfee.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
I need to pick a sign here, don't I am
a sports talk radio. Somebody's right, somebody's wrong, I'm teams
so and so I'm team to. So that whole story
that you just broke down for me, every single person
I agree with from every single angle all of it. Like, look,
Lee Corso, there are clips, believe it or not. Now
this man's in his eighties. There are old school cuts
of Lee Corso when he was younger that would rip
(45:30):
into teams and he would like that existed, and people
are like, of course, like this is the show we're doing.
But as he's aged, he doesn't do that as often
because it would feel weird. And like you said, how
he speaks on air isn't as clear as before, and
he's almost there just to do the head gear stuff.
I think we all kind of get that. Kirkurb Street
helps him through every episode, no doubt, he's protective of him.
Speaker 3 (45:50):
He's somebody who loves Lee Corso. I'm glad he doesn't.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
Yes, he's aging on television, which is really difficult to do.
Speaker 3 (45:58):
Kirkurbstreet is the only Ohio State quarterback there's ever been
good on TV on Saturday and Saturday.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
And McAfee's the same way, Like McAfee feels like, hey,
if college game Day is going to be what I'm
gonna be a part of for the future. And McAfee
took some heat the style he did it. I'm sure
Corso did when he started, but Corso didn't have soci
smedia deal with it. So they're both very defensive of
Lee Corso. To the Ryan Leaf and the coach of
Washington State's point, I remember that, and I also thought
(46:25):
I heard what the guys from Washington State heard. It's
very look at college gave me. It's loud. There's microphones,
Like you said, he may misspoke. Somebody could have heard
something in their head said that we didn't hear on
that's very likely. But those guys got ticked because also
the other storyline to them is that a lot of
people blame ESPN for the collapse of the PAC twelve,
the PAC ten, the pack two of what it is now.
(46:47):
A lot of those Oregon State and Washington State fans say, hey,
the reason it collapsed is because of you guys. You
guys wanted a big twelve deal. Fox wanted a big
ten deal. Every a big twelve deal. Everybody's moving around
the ACC. I has destroyed this conference and now you're
acting like I believe McAfee later on took a shot
at Leaf on the air. If I remember this, Craig
(47:07):
like enough out of you Ryan Leaf on Twitter, I
remember Washington State brings that old crimson flag to all
the college games. Everybody's right, and even the final thing
that Leif said what he said narcissistic and sensitive McAfee
and Herb Street. I like both of those guys. I
think there are times where both of them are narcissistic
(47:28):
and sensitive. I think both chirp a little too much
on social media. They shouldn't care, but they do really care.
Everybody's right, there are and I think Ryan Leaf understood
it like Corso Herb Street, McAfee swing a hammer and
then said, hey, we don't want to do Ryan Leaf stuff.
We don't need them. We had a bunch of other
guys who can call games that we really need Ryan Leaf.
They probably kicked them off. So everybody's right. I want
(47:50):
to pick a side, but I think every side's right.
I think I see, I see where you're coming from.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
But as you remember what you hear, and they remember
what they hear. One person saw the notes, and that's Herbstreet.
Speaker 1 (48:04):
So Herbstreet knows what was because if you look Corsal
writes down just about everything he's saying, like he looks down,
he looks up, he looks down, he looks up because
again he's you know, his best days are behind him.
But we love Grandpa and we don't want Grandpa to
get away from the table just yet. We want we
wanted to keep up.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
If if I was Ryan, leave and you gave me
that tweet back, we're talking. We're having a conversation at
that point. Hey, whoa, you came at me pretty hard,
mister Herbstreet?
Speaker 1 (48:36):
How you doing? Like what's going on here? Are we good?
Speaker 2 (48:38):
Because I like we're going back and forth. If I
was mistaken, I was mistaken, but you came at me
pretty hard, and he and Herbstreet.
Speaker 1 (48:45):
Has come out and said like flat out like I
don't know why he feels that way. However, if you
want to rile me up, come for my teammates.
Speaker 2 (48:52):
So like, if those two sit down and you can
make that go away pretty easily. If you're Ryan Leef
and you're the that salvo came from Herb Street. Okay,
hey Kirk, if that's the case, tell the I apologize
or give me an opportunity to talk to him.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
And I'll do it myself and and we'll go from there.
But you know how I feel the same as you
get rid of about your teammates. I get rid up with
my team and then we could be done. But you
don't do that because you don't want that, like Ryan
Leaf would rather watch the world burn. In my opinion, yeah,
I think there's a little bit of sensitivity and ego
and narcissism. Leaf can be added to that mix. You know,
(49:29):
he just went on a podcast rather than handling it
like an adult, like like you said, this is how
adults would handle this. Ryan, You've decided to call out those.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
People on He said that.
Speaker 2 (49:39):
You know, he said when they called him and told
them he was fired, he said, he said that he
he knew it wasn't the guy who called him who
fired him.
Speaker 1 (49:54):
They had somebody else call him. And then he said, quote,
I get it, I get it.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
You got eighty five million dollar people scaring you. You
gotta fall in line. I understand that on my end
of things. That was the McAfee shot he took. So,
but let's talk about who ego.
Speaker 1 (50:11):
Ego is a dangerous thing, but if you've earned it,
it should be at least a little bit respected, you
know what I mean, Like like there's there's too much ego,
there's enough ego, there's not enough ego. Like people who
don't have enough ego drive me insane. What do you
want to do? I don't know. Whatever you want to,
but I'm terrible whateverything. I don't want that. What do
(50:35):
you want to do? Man?
Speaker 2 (50:36):
I want to go play catch. I'll love to play
Catchlet's use it. I want to I want to go
ext throwing. I want to do something like I want
I want a little bit of ego from you.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
Too much ego. Whatever I do, I'm better out than you.
So it doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
Of those three humans the dude, the dude who has
the right to the most ego is the punter. The
punter who was who is the only one of them
that was successful in the NFL, the punter who is
the most successful of them in the broadcast world. The
punter has the biggest right to have an ego, and
(51:07):
the punters the one who walks around with those sleeves
on chill, have fun and would would make you a
king if you went and said to him, Hey, man,
I understand I'm gonna take you off when I came
at course, so I didn't mean to.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
I didn't understand what was going on. I took out.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
You could fix all that with a quick conversation. The
dude who has the least right to have an overbearing
ego is the dude who is making the biggest stake
and is going to lose the most in all of this.
Speaker 1 (51:31):
I would probably argue that I would flip Herbstreet and McAfee.
But the points, oh no, Herbstreet's been doing it for
thirty years.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
Yeah, but he hasn't made the money that McAfee's made.
Speaker 1 (51:43):
You put together, wwe the deals that he's made, he
made He's made eighty five million dollars in one deal.
I think it's a five year deal in Herbstreet gets
a million bucks a game for Amazon. Okay, they're about
here and here. The point is that you don't go
with plus two. They both have. He made way more
as a punter. There you go, my NFL. I've we're
talking more, bro, But it's it's it's right now.
Speaker 3 (52:04):
The bigger name, hands down is MacAfee.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
And he does this podcast and he's got to showing
everything else. Fine, yeah, yeah, Uh so, yeah, that's Leaf's takeing.
Like in Leaf, I think you and I have interviewed
him five times. In person, I would use the word intense.
That's a good word. I think intense is what he is.
He because he's a massive human being. I mean, there's
a real you mentioned this lead off this conversation, like
(52:27):
there the reason they talked about Peyton Manning versus Ryan
Leaf is because when he walks into a room and
he has that type of skill set, you're like, we're
not gonna take him. Huh, We're not gonna take Ryan.
I know pet right like he's got everything and he's
intense and he's locked in. So uh yeah, maybe Ryan Leaf.
There's also part of it like was it herm Edwards
(52:48):
don't rest end you need? Do you need to go
to Twitter? Like did you sending out the Twitter?
Speaker 2 (52:53):
I mean, but the day and age we're in, listen,
you know me, Man, I say things I shouldn't say.
I do things, I overreact, But I'm the first one
to go to somebody be like, hey, who as me?
Speaker 1 (53:03):
I did that? I went too far? You pushed me here.
I chose to go to the next level.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
So as long as you can admit that you may
have pushed me a little farther, or at least see
where I'm coming from and how I took it as
what I took it. We can put this away, but
I'm but I'm also older, I guess maybe, And I
also have never been a quarterback, you know now outside
of like Flag you know, or Madden. But like I
just there's something But like our world, when people come
(53:31):
at me, it's easy. We can put it away real quick.
We can, we can be over. I would much rather
make you an ally than an adversary. Ryan Leaf, I
think is like you know, I don't care why people
are talking to me as long as they're talking to me,
so I'll keep this fight going.
Speaker 1 (53:44):
And like Herbstreet's whole thing is like.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
I don't know what you want me to say right now,
Like I'm not gonna keep this going, Like that's just
that's just not who I have to quote. When someone
does that, I really don't know how to respond to it.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
I don't want to get caught up in the.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
Game of lashing back out on him. I I don't
know what he's referring to. Basically, he's a completely big
league in them. But I honestly do wish him the
best and hope he had hope he does. I don't
know what he does on TV, but he's doing a
good job, and I hope he keeps doing it.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
I don't know what. I don't know what you're doing,
but I'm sure you're doing well at it.
Speaker 2 (54:27):
I don't know, man, I just think I just think
that Ryan Leaf could Ryan Leave does not benefit from
this fight. No, no, and he and he thinks he
does because I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
The name of the the podcast is called out Kick
Hot Mic. Wasn't he out of the belief umbrella at
some point?
Speaker 2 (54:46):
He was Ron like helped him rebuild. He got a jump.
I think he went Fox in the ESPN. But it's
just you know, look, man, that's just you're not as
much as you sit there and say those people are
narcissists and everything like that, you kind of sound kind
of narcissist. Well, yes, yes, you know, you to where
you go. Everyone's right, I say everyone's wrong except for
(55:09):
mcafe because I haven't eve heard him.
Speaker 3 (55:10):
I don't even know if mcviee's really involved in this
at all. Like McAfee's just being thrown in because I
gotta make sure people know us what I said. So
for those of you who don't like Herbstreet to paint
his and Herb Street, let me throw a little McAfee
at you.
Speaker 1 (55:20):
The fact that that feud lasted a full year College
Game Day inside the NBA. I know they're going through
things right now and like this could be the final
year it happens. But whether it's d NT, ESPN, Fox,
Big Noon Kickoff had an awesome year last year. It's
really getting better. But you want to talk about the
most popular how good it's getting, because now it's it's
splitting my time. Yes, But that's the thing, like, if
(55:41):
you say, what's the most popular sports show, that used
to be so easy to answer. It was always Sports Center?
That was it always Sports Center, right, and then Inside
the NBA came and Barkley and Shack and look they
were going on at the same time. But it became
the most popular. But there are some people that say
there was nothing that any network does better than anything
else than Saturday morning College Game Day. And the fact
(56:03):
that that show has been around for so long and
it still has an impact that it does, and the
fans on social media care about what they say and
they keep Twitter beefs going. Thank goodness, it's back to Saturday.
I can't wait. I'm fired up. Even though it's a
week zero action like college game Day is still appointment television,
which is hard to say about it anything in twenty
twenty four.
Speaker 2 (56:23):
There's multiple remotes of my house where you can't read
the word mute anymore because I go back from the
like I literally I'll have sometimes pediblee where they are.
I'll have barstool on the computer.
Speaker 1 (56:32):
I'll have a big now on one TV, and then
I'll have the game Day on the other TV. And
whoever looks like they're doing the coolest thing, I mute
the other two. So yeah, but it used to just
be GameDay, Like you get up, you know, maybe get
a coffee going, maybe crack a beer, pedible what you
think maybe Michigan's kicking it at noon, you know whatever,
and you go.
Speaker 2 (56:52):
But Ryan Leaf, you calm down. Okay, That's all I'm
gonna say to you, sir, You calm down unless you
can hear us.
Speaker 1 (57:00):
I think you're a great, great guy. All Right, we
got our.
Speaker 2 (57:04):

Speaker 1 (57:19):
I hold that for an hour from now. He totally did. Uh,
So come on buy, have some fun and enjoy all
this great stuff. Of course, drink specials going on, and
we're just we're just firing up, having a good time

Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
Yes, I'm here at rivers. Throw that's stone. Be careful,
throw careful, watch out who might accidentally hit your front
of the eye. I was injured earlier in the show
during the Andrew Champagne conversation. Well, Mac was staying I'm tired,
and then threw something in my eye and I was
almost blinded. Naughty, I was almost blinded earlier. Did you
see that when I was assaulted? Nodded her head. I
(01:02:17):
was almost Uh, I was sorry, What's I need an eye? Back? Then?
Luckily I've recovered. Where's big al? This is a work issue,
unsafe working environment. This almost never happens in the NFL,
but it seems like it only happens in the NFC
East when inner division trades happened today, the Washington Commanders
have traded a twenty twenty two first round traffic that's
(01:02:40):
Jehan Dotson and a twenty twenty five fifth round pick
to the Eagles in exchange for a third round pick
in two seventh round picks in twenty twenty five. Remember,
Dotson now is gonna get to set up with a J.
Brown Devout Smith. That's some pretty good three for Philadelphia.
While Washington, who's there often weapons? Terry McLaurin. We know
(01:03:02):
scary Terry, but he's not the number two now Dotson,
who's it gonna be? Is it gonna be the younger
McCaffrey and Luke McCaffrey. Do they feel like they got
somebody else gave us in Crowder?
Speaker 34 (01:03:12):
Like Dodson was supposed to be an impact player and
now you've helped the team in your division, Lohack, what
do you make of this training involving Washington and Philly?
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
The John Doddson think like I've had him.
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
In fancy football for years and years and I always
wait for him to like just break out and destroy everybody,
and I have yet to see it happen. So maybe
that's just one of those like listen, at least we're
getting something for him.
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
Doubt he's gonna blow up against us. Maybe who knows.
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
But to your point, like the weapons on the on
the commanders, I saw a fantasy football article today and
we might have to go over a little bit later.
It's basically whether or not you should worry about handcuffing
running backs. As I'm looking through it, I will tell
you the truthfully, there's at least four teams in the
NFL that I was.
Speaker 1 (01:03:59):
Like, that's their running, that's who they are. I need
to do this. Then later in the show, maybe the
five o'clock hour somewhat. I want to do that because
I have some new thoughts on Philadelphia. I believe Philadelphia's offense,
like you're talking about huge yards, they are stacked across
the board. Or I think the fantasy football storylines for
the Eagles is also impacted by this move. Ask for
(01:04:20):
Howie Roseman, the GM of the Eagles. There's a lot
to this. So remember way back when Tomanie Smith, who
they made the trade for in the draft. They had
to trade up with the Cowboys to make sure the
Giants didn't get them. So they made that happen. Now,
Washington doesn't get better in twenty twenty four by losing Dotson,
but Philadelphia does. How did he convince Washington to let
(01:04:42):
that happen. There's a theory that's on the internet, and
I love this because some people that's indeed digging on this.
You're look at filling You're like, how do they get everybody?
How did they get sa Quon and Jalen Hurts and
AJ Brown and now donson it. How do they piece
this together? Well, Philadelphia and Cleveland, the Browns, we've also
gotten good to have the strategy that they're really way
(01:05:03):
up on the cap. And what they're doing is they
think every year the salary cap is going to increase
because the NFL is gonna have more revenue and money.
So they're just gonna keep playing that and saying, you
know what, it'd be awful. We would be crushed if
the salary cap ever went back. But because we're banking
on it always going up, we can make these moves
for the future because we're gonna balance it projecting it's
(01:05:25):
gonna go up. That's why it's working. So how Hero
has been seeing that foresight and what he thinks the
league will look like his benefit of the Eagles going forward.
They have Paris Campbell too. They're good. You lost that
got kick. That's not the same exact position, but your
line's not as good as it used to be. And
(01:05:46):
by the way, we got race six off here at
Sarah Togar guy can Sarah has the five and six
here in an exact the box of the horse he
wanted scratch. So we'll see if he's able to cash
would would be a nice payoff for him. He hits this.
Let's move on to story number three, though two games
in the NFL pre seasons late tonight. It involves the
Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals, the Chicago Bears and the
Kansas City Chiefs. Well BacT with no disrespect to the
(01:06:08):
Colts and Bengals. I think the eyes of the league
are on Bears Chiefs tonight. Hard knocks defending Super Bowl
champions Mahomes and Caleb Williams. Let's bust at a classic
top four to four in a scale of one to ten,
with ten meaning you're not gonna miss any plays of
the game. One being you just realize right now was
on and maybe you'll watch it. Where do you rank
your excitement level tonight for Bears Chiefs three.
Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
I realized it was on at about eleven AM today,
so I'll definitely watch them, But I.
Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
Don't expect to see the studs.
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
I don't expect. I mean, like, you saw what you
need to see from Kay Williams. You saw you know
what you got Pat Mahomes, who's playing in this game?
Speaker 3 (01:06:46):
It's a good question.
Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
Not a lot of impactful players no, so, I mean,
I'll watch you this football. But uh okay, there was
at one point when I thought about this game of Michael,
all the preseason games, what would make me the most
excited for a preseason game? Like, Wow, I got a
lot of storylines here out of Chiefs and Bears. And
then none of the players are out there, and then
I'm sure tomorrow will dive deeper into Jets and Giants,
(01:07:10):
but not a lot of players bucketing. Will Williams and
Mahomes shake hands, with all the Williams being like, I'm
not my Homes, I'm Caleb Williams. I don't I don't
think so, no, no, no, you know what, I think they
will shake hands. I'm not sure if the camera will
catch them shaking hands. I'm sure at some point, maybe
more in the pregame than will they paying each other's nails?
(01:07:30):
I bet, I bet you, uh, Mahomes will go with
a nice Kermit Green. You know what, I just realized, conversation,
I can't even pick what's the best preseason game. I
don't even know if there's really gonna answer to that anymore.
There's not like the Hall of Fame game because they
kicked off maybe that maybe the last one. The last one,
(01:07:51):
I mean when it's over. Yeah, that's when we get
into the real ones. Let's go, but don't forget. If
you want to wager on NFL preseason, actually could do
it right here at Rivers Casino Resort. If you're getting
that itch. With one week away from college football kicking
off on a Thursday night, I know week's eero is
coming up talking week one action, one week from table
talking college football, and then two weeks from tonight the
NFL regular season kicks off, and do all that right
(01:08:11):
here at Rivers Casino Resort. Let's move on to story
number two. The New York Mets ninety first pitch the
night on the West Coast, they take on the San
Diego Padres. Then that's two of their last three games,
walk off victory, walk off victories over the Baltimore Orioles.
They're now five games above five hundred. Well, the Padres
are the hottest team in baseball post All Star breaks.
(01:08:33):
San Diego a true test for both Los Angeles and
Arizona in the NLS. San Diego has taken off. They
are one of the teams with how much money they've
invested in this franchise. It it seems to be locking
in a playoff spot. That's how good San Diego has
been with Arizona and sanego back and forth. A simple question.
(01:08:53):
But I look at the National League wildcard cities. If
you've told me, guys, give me the three best teams
right nown Arizona, San Diego, Atlanta. I don't think they
can catch them. And you're just like talent on talent,
san Diego is better, Atlanta's better. And then Arizona has
pieced together the roster that they want, Like, it feels
like those three teams that are just flat out better
than the Mets is a great test for them tonight.
(01:09:15):
Do you feel a little bit different? Do you feel
like the Mets are better than one of those three
teams Arizona, San Diego or Atlanta, all three teams sitting
ahead of them in the National League wildcard standings.
Speaker 3 (01:09:24):
I think they can play better than them.
Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
I don't like, not on paper, they're not better, but
I'm like, we've seen the Mets play better than them
at times, all of them.
Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
Oh man, how do I feel? How do I feel
that's a big gap?
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
I cop out answer, they can, but they're not they
can play better, but they're not better at this exact
moment of time. But you're not supposed to be. That
wasn't the plan this year. You're paying so many players
to not play for you this year. It is this
is the year where you're supposed to struggle. And the
fact that we're having this conversation late the season, it's
a good thing, Mets fan.
Speaker 1 (01:10:04):
Uh, this is a good Yeah, that's actually exactly right, Like,
this is a great conversation at the fact that you're
gonna get tested by San Diego right now and say, Okay,
if you're better than sandingg or not, here's your chance
to prove it. It's late August. You're gonna playoff push
San Diego. If you had projected what the Padres would
look like in August of twenty twenty four, this is
right exactly where most people think they would be or
the best teams in baseball for how it's been set up.
(01:10:26):
So this is a great game tonight if New York
is anywhere close to being as competitive and as good
as they've looked. Man, I don't like doing this when
it involves Baltimore. Why do we have to do this
it's fun. It's far more fun it's Washington or Miami.
Because this is the thing. Would you rather go back
to a couple of years ago when Baltimore was irrelevant? Never? Okay,
(01:10:47):
this is what happens. Now.
Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
You have to have these real conversations about where your
team ranks. And yeah, sure there's still cock of duty
on the end of a stick, but at least they're
but at least they're you're worried about that stick catching you.
Speaker 1 (01:10:59):
You know, I don't know if I agree with that,
agree with that, but I'm gonna move on to story
number one. Life put that ticket away. That's can terrist
ticket he did not is ten dollars left. It's ten
dollars because he said this morning, he was like, I
feel bad. I don't wanna talk about the firehouse that
I'm playing for because thought I was gonna buy him
a meal or whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:11:17):
I'm like, no, Now you go on and ask everyone
else to cover for you and and donate to them
and take.
Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
Care of them. You know what, I don't even want
to make fun of it, because we could have. We
had a long If you start mocking the oh first
stand aids, it's bad karma. It's bad juju. Although if
he goes over, we will sit. That's an incredible form.
That's the first to worst. That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:11:38):
That's story number one.
Speaker 1 (01:11:40):
The New York Yankees winners is six nothing in the
final Judge home run Stanton home run and would looked
to be a match between the best teams in the
American League. New York dominates the last two of those
three games in that series with does that mean the
Yankees are the best team in the American League?
Speaker 24 (01:11:55):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:11:56):
Wow, okay, you know what, Yes, I'm gonna forgive you
your cliches as you before, you would.
Speaker 1 (01:12:01):
Do that in the season, you would go, oh, this
this is this one those the best and the Yankees
will you be like they're not the best though, it's well,
you can't do that. Good for you, Good for you
actually sticking with your little cliches. What is like right now?
On holy poop, I wish we had gotten that one, right,
it's a nice payoff, woo right. It smbaristic about that,
but like, hang on, maybe gosh, that was a nice
(01:12:22):
pay It's a one hundred and twenty six dollars one
dollar exact. Uh hear thing. On August twenty second. What
is my argument right now to tell you that Baltimore
is playing better than New York. What's my argument to
tell you Cleveland's playing better than the year With Aaron
Judge in the lineup. Doing that, it's tough to find anything.
The best things I can give you are gonna happen
(01:12:44):
in the future. Like if Baltimore looks better than New
York a month from now and they match up in
the series, then maybe potentially I can re rank the
teams as they get closer to October. I'm allowed to
do that. And with Houston, like, the storyline around Houston
is an easy one. It's the Boogeyman. It's the guy
who's waiting like monsters in graded It's a tran like.
(01:13:04):
Houston has continued to find ways to beat New York,
as I pointed out, whether those things were legal or illegal, right,
they just haven't been able to get by Houston. And
that's the the the worst thing for Yankee fans is
that you have these great teams and it's just one
team that continues to knock you out. So on August
twenty second, right now, they're the best team. And if
(01:13:24):
San Diego looks terrible against New York tonight. There's an
argument to be made that the New York Yankees, right now,
after how bad they were in June in July, are
the best team in baseball. Thank you?
Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
So you just said they were. They already said they
were the best team in baseball.
Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
No Americanly, I'd still have the Dodgers out of them.
But that can change tonight if San Diego gets beat
up and at Lake starts to keep tossing play.
Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
Kershaw all right, all right, it was a right.
Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
That was a nice sweep by them over to Seattle,
and then they embarrassed them a little bit on that one.
Seventeen to seven can bind total in a three game
set for a Marriner team that I thought this would
be the year. La. That's nice. Can you call your
boy and telling me that home run? Bryce Harper? All right?
You know what, maybe that's gonna lead it to something

Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
Next week before we talking about next week, that's gonna
be pretty close to what we're gonna do. Okay, you
know what I want to tease what's coming up next week?
I used about college football in the NFL, but we're
gonna do something next Thursday, Live from Rivers casino resort
that we have never done in the history of this show.
I'm live on there. I think we should say what
we're gonna do next week, and then maybe you know
what back maybe.
Speaker 3 (01:15:43):
Only fans, we're gonna start our own the show.
Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
Maybe that's a tease to that article, because I don't
know how much longer I can wait about what your
fantasy football article is. Maybe I need to do that, right,
do it next?
Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
So I found an article where they were like, all right,
here are the backfields in the NFL that are worth handcuffing.
So basically what all we're saying is, if they have
a starting running back that you really want, should you
draft his backup as well because of.
Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
Either injury or performance or whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
I was a little there's a couple of backfields.

Back on Second out with you. So NFL is about
to get underway, get moving, and uh, obviously everybody's getting
ready for their their fantasy drafts and all that fun
stuff with football.
Speaker 3 (01:21:23):
So I see this thing in the in the New.
Speaker 1 (01:21:25):
York Post whether or not you should handcuff the backfields
of the running backs, and he goes by team by
team and he goes through them all. So so here's
here's the deal, and this is Drew Loftus is the
is the author of this fine work. Okay. So he
starts with the AFCs, the Buffalo Bills. We all know
the starting running back James Coke. Correct, but it's like
(01:21:46):
it's little too murky.
Speaker 2 (01:21:47):
Who the back was gonna whether it's be Ray Davis,
Ty Johnson, uh, Darrington Evans And I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:21:53):
Like, Ty Johnson I've heard of before.
Speaker 1 (01:21:56):
And then now all of a sudden he uh yeah,
you have to Yeah. So that's so I got like, okay,
you know that's that's that's that's good. Then we got
the Miami Dolphins, you know who they're there. There's gonna
be Divon Devon, a chain and Rahem Moster.
Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
There you go, and like and by the way, like
he kind of has them as starters together and then
like most of day chain Jalen Wright mixed and that's
they got a nice little backfield going for themselves. New
England Patriots Roderick Stevenson obviously, you.
Speaker 1 (01:22:32):
Know I'm blanket on the backup now. Antonio Gibson. That
would have been tough.
Speaker 26 (01:22:38):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:22:38):
Yeah, okay, Jads Breeze Hall, we know that, I mean,
but no idea who the backup is? Alan the kid
from Wisconsin get a lot of run. But in depth,
char you know, I could could be anybody. Who's the
number two? This one's the Ravens. We all know. I mean,
you got Derek Harry and Justice Hill Bengals. I remember
there was a move, but I think I forgot about
right before I looked at this. They signed Zach Moss
(01:23:00):
in the off season. Incorrect and again in similar fashion,
almost like Joe Mixon. Is he gonna be the guy?
How many touch is he gonna get this season? So
it's him and Chase Brown. Okay, I remember him. He
got some touches towards the end, especially with somebody like
me who was a mixing fantasy manager who didn't like
him when he was taking away those touches from Joe Mixon. Yeah,
(01:23:21):
there you go. So again, like right now, so far,
so good, Cleveland Browns. Now, obviously there's an asterix on
this one, because if if the Beast is healthy, the
Beast will be the starting running back. That's Nick Chubb.
Who you and I are both fans of that. We've
read reports that Nick Chubb is not ready, but then
there's reports that like he could be back because he
(01:23:42):
tore his ACL and ripped up his knee in the
second week of the season, but he didn't have surgery
till November, so the timeline's a little I always have
to remind people of when the surgery took place because
it's not a Madden video game, just because he got
hurt in Madden then. But he's already squatting to the
point where the bar is bending so much you think
the players are gonna fall off. But Nick Chubb has
had four straight thousand yard seasons and they won without
(01:24:04):
Nick Chubb last season at least had a playoff team.
So that's a tough spot to figure out what Cleveland's
gonna do. So Drome for Pierre Strong Junior are the guys.
Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Until then, let me come down to like, all right,
Houston Texans, Uh gosh.
Speaker 1 (01:24:19):
And it's not Devin Singletary, he laughed. And Pierce Pierce
is the backup. He's the handcuff. They signed Joe Mixon.
Oh that's right, thank you, that's right. Yeah, No, no,
I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (01:24:32):
You know, everybody knows the Colts, the Jags, Like, how
about the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 1 (01:24:38):
Uh, they got the kid from Arkansas Spears. He's listed
as the handcuff. Who's gonna be the one in Tennessee.
Tony Pollard, Oh gosh, he stinks. And you think with
Tony Pollard in fantasy, like he had such a good
season in twenty twenty two, and then remember this is
a year back from injury. He's now two full years,
(01:24:58):
second years, that's what he ca twenty twenty three injuries.
Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
I mean, he wasn't just good something you could put
it in there.
Speaker 1 (01:25:04):
He's just stunk.
Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
Denver Broncos. We all know Javonte Williams, but Jalil McLoughlin,
I know.
Speaker 1 (01:25:13):
He caught a lot of passes out of the backfield
last year. I think he's a D two kid. By
the way.
Speaker 2 (01:25:17):
Yeah, Chiefs, we know Raiders, we know Chiefs Isaiah pa
check Oh, I forgot that Clyde Edwards Hilaire is not
like he's still there.
Speaker 1 (01:25:24):
He's still there. That didn't work out. A late first
round pick. They thought he would be such a stud.
He hits Clyde Edwards, he lair got so much love
when he was dripping because they're like, he's just gonna
fall into the end zone. He's gonna be a fantasy stud.
He was going in the early second round his rookie season.
It wasn't Jeanne Robbinson hype, but there was hype of
(01:25:44):
this guy could be a top five fantasy player with
the position he's in. The Raiders is a mere white.
I know a lot of people that aren't me don't
know that, but zeus Is is real. And then Alexander Madson.
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
They went and picked him up former Viking Los Angeles Chargers,
who are the running backs.
Speaker 3 (01:26:03):
This is, by the way, neither one of them were
here last year.
Speaker 1 (01:26:05):
I don't wanna gosh, I know the answer to this
one because this is one of my favorite fantasy plays
this season because Harball loves to run the football. I
know it's Gus Edwards and JK. Dobbins. Yes, Okay, So
if you've got like a fourteenth pick or a twelfth, like,
if you're one of those I don't called zoom a
round snake snake ends right, snakeheads snaktail, think about doing Dobbins. Well,
(01:26:29):
I'm talking like right at the end so that's what
I would do. I would take Dobbins and Edwards and
stack them and round third, fourth, Gosh, are they still there?
One of them won't be.
Speaker 24 (01:26:43):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:26:44):
In my head, I'm hoping like fourth fifth, but that
probably depends on league size. I would I would think
fourth fifth.
Speaker 3 (01:26:50):
They were both Ravens.
Speaker 2 (01:26:51):
Literally together, like, hey, you want to go, I wanna
play more football together. The gus Buss is there though.
What are you gonna do, Dallas Cowboys? That Zeke is
is the number one? It's hilarious. And the squad the
GM kid, Uh, yeah, it's gonna be do Swan right.
Speaker 1 (01:27:07):
Rico Dowdell, it looks like he's gonna be the cuff there. Uh,
Giants Singletary. And then the kid they drafted, Tracy maybe's
number two? They say, unclear, it's either me, Eric Gray, Tyrone,
Tracy could be any Now, obviously we all know what's
going with the Eagles. You're segue the number one overall
(01:27:29):
pick for you?
Speaker 14 (01:27:30):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:27:31):
No, why would you? Okay, Okay, so you know you
know what you just set me up for that Lavaca
figured out what you were trying to do. That This
goes back to the Eagle conversation of the top four
to four so Saquon Barkley and and also Leavaka remembers
on our preview show, I thought Sakuon Barkley is gonna
run for two thousand yards. I've run for not from scrimmage.
I've decided to change my take on that now. I
(01:27:53):
think even my two thousand total yards take might be
a little too hot because of what's happened with AJ Brown,
with Smith on the roster, with Dotson being added today,
with Hurts getting a lot of the carriers as well,
I'm backing off. Like, if you're a fan of A J.
Brown or Saquon Parkley, I feel like the trade for
Dots it at least makes you question what you think
about them. I love talking about this in a basketball
(01:28:16):
terminology because Kobe Bryant was the king of this. When
he talked about the Lakers, people always wanted to bring
in somebody else to go with Kobe. Now, how Gasol worked,
Dwight Howard didn't work, Shack worked, obviously, but you're noticing
the theme here big guys with Kobe, because the take
was there's only one basketball. You know you Kobe's gonna
have the ball the whole time. He's the situation Philadelphia.
(01:28:38):
There's only one football. If you're a fantasy football owner,
you have to just think targets, percentages and this take.
What if they're winning games, like they're just gonna pull
back a little bit. If they're a really good running team,
there's just not gonna be enough time on the clock
to make it happen. So I would question all those things.
If you think about AJ Brown, if you're between like
an A. J. Brown and I don't know, Ceedee Lamb
(01:29:01):
might be Ceedee Lamb's gonna go ahead of them, but
you're talking like if he chows him with camp Ever,
I mean maybe a Pooka, maybe a Cooper Cup, somebody
like that. Derrick Henry, I would start reconsidering, like, if
he's the best player on the board, you take him.
But I don't think the excitement level of getting Saquon
or AJ brownis his hins. It's been in the past
because of what's happening in Philly. Any any interest in
(01:29:21):
kind of gag Wall later in the draft. No, No,
you know you know what, I want to go back
to this point. I feel like the reason you're asking
this question of the handcuff stuff is because.
Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
I found an article about it and I didn't realize
Zeke was the number one back in Dallas.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
Again, I didn't realize it was seven years ago.
Speaker 1 (01:29:37):
They're gonna give him carries or or you know what,
my whole theory is there about the Eagles. Maybe you're like,
I need Dak Prescott if that's what's gonna happen in
the backfield. Is Mike McCarthy really ever gonna run the football?
Go get deck and ceedee lamb. And it's just a
few seasons ago. Remember the year Dek got hurt. I
think five games into the season. That first month of
Dak Prescott fantasy wise, was a historic He was gonna
(01:29:59):
share re passing record if he kept that pace going
before he got injured in Week five a few seasons ago.
But you're thinking about the handcuffs, right, So maybe this
has changed in fantasy because five ten years ago, whoever
was your starting running back, you'd always take the backup,
like once your roster was your starting lineup was said, okay,
here's your starting ten, eleven, twelve, or you take somebody
(01:30:22):
else's if you think they're damage and there you go like, hey,
I'm gonna take somebody who I think could be the
thirty third best running back and hope he's gonna play
in a bye week, or I'll take Mike got to
cover it. I wonder if that's changed. I wonder if
it leans towards something new now. That and the Eagles
are a great example of this. Like I said, there's
no way you'd want Kenneth Gainwell, however, maybe you just
(01:30:42):
draft offenses now, Like if you think the Kansas City
offense is gonna be great, wouldn't you rather just draft
Xavier Worthy thinking he might get touches or rice or
no check. You never know who's gonna be good that
should be dealing with, like Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manny.
I'll just take one of that. I'll take there, and
then that dude doesn't eat for three weeks. You get
rid of them and think gets I think it's nine
(01:31:04):
catches for eighty five yards and two touchdowns. I just
wonder if that's a new strategy that, like you mentioned
Gibson from the Patriots, right, Let's say the Patriots stink.
Let's say the offense is terrible. They can't figure out
who's gonna play quarterback Mayo doesn't know what he's doing.
The receivers, let's just say they stink. Okay, but you've
got Ramadre on your squad and you've got Gibson. Is
that even better? Like is that a better way to
(01:31:25):
play it? Or is the better way to play it?
I'm gonna go get a backup running back for San
Francisco is not a great example because of McCaffrey, but
a really good offense, hoping they're just gonna fall into
the end zone, like maybe maybe the Houston Texans, Like, hey,
I can't get mixed in, but I'm gonna get pierced.
I just think because there's so much better on offense
(01:31:46):
than New England, I think he'll get more carries, touches,
yardage out of the backfield. I would take that strategy
this year.
Speaker 2 (01:31:53):
I think I'd like Falcons because, like as much as
I love Bahahn Robinson, we know Algier's gonna get a
bunch of short yarded stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:32:03):
He could be. He could be the Mike.
Speaker 3 (01:32:04):
Alstott, the new the New World, real quick run through commanders.
Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
Brian Robinson's the second one, right, Brian Robinson. He has
him as a starter. Oh good, okay, good. I like him,
he's a good player. I want him too as well.
That whole Many Men video. I became a fan of
Hit after that. Who's the backup running back for the Commanders?
Is Alfred Morris still there? What about John Riggins? Is
John Riggins?
Speaker 31 (01:32:31):
There?
Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
El Austin Eckler? Oh my gosh, right talking about somebody
who fell off the face of Fantasy World. This was
a top three pick two years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:32:40):
Brian Robinson Junior barely misses the game after he gets shot.
Speaker 1 (01:32:44):
Austin Eckler's out on the ir all the time. I
don't know. I wouldn't even consider taking Austin Eckler anymore
because of those injuries. Bears uh bears? Oh gosh u
Matt Forte, he's still back to swift. DeAndre said they acquired.
Speaker 3 (01:33:03):
Free agency and Khalil Herbert.
Speaker 1 (01:33:07):
I like DJ Moore so much better, and William is
so much better, and I like David Montgomery. They probably
gonna regret let him go in it's such a fantastic
year for Detroit. I think the Lions backfield's my favorite backfield,
Gibs in Montgomery. Gibbs had an injury in the training
camp and like that's another example. Like if you drafted
Gibbs last season, and I was one of these managers.
Speaker 3 (01:33:25):
Did it?
Speaker 1 (01:33:25):
I drafted Gibbs. He had such a slow start to
the season. But when you say slow started, it's really
not a slow start. It's Montgomery got all the touchdowns.
Montgomery is the top three guy in touchdowns stored last
season because Gibbs had him in the same lace that
you guys had. Gives How about Green Bay Packers backfield?
That's Josh Jacobs and the big dude, I'm not sure.
(01:33:52):
Aj Dillon he's still there, still slow, still there, Minnesota Vikings,
that's our guy. Aaron Jones up h is Madison still there? No,
Remember he's a Raider, He's the raider haircuff. Oh my gosh,
it's Ty Taylor. Some of these second string the running
backs aren't very good. We just mentioned Atlanta's up there
(01:34:14):
as the best backfield too. How about the Carolina Panthers.
You if you list yourself as the cuff, I'll out,
oh gosh, I don't know off the top of my head. Here, well,
Chuba Hubbard that's not great. And Jonathan Brooks that's worse.
(01:34:36):
Jonathan Brooks is a rookie and he's still recovering from
one of acl they treated up to get him. I believe,
and Suba was fantastic good Oklahoma State. But I told you,
I told you this last tew weeks and I'll say
it again on a previous show. Carolina was the worst
team in the NFL last season. They are actually worse.
That's the running backs. Who's their wide receivers? Bryce Young
(01:34:57):
looks like they were worse. I don't know what Dan
Moore do. I'm fascinated to find out how someone's gonna
tell me Carolina got better with what love Actus listed
off as a backfield there and that used to be
the team again. Steve Smith, Mohamed McCaffery. These have some
real fantasy studs on those rosters. Angelo Williams, who's the
backfield for the Saints? Kamar is still there? Yep, gosh,
(01:35:20):
I feel like they drafted another young kid too. I
know Kamara, who's his backup? It's either Jamal Williams or
Kendre Miller. See, I should have got to Jamal Williams,
but I know there was rumors that he was gonna
get traded. In going through this list, Jamal Williams probably
should be a starter, and at least five or six
teams we named. I also know he's a big fan
(01:35:40):
of the rest ofer Joe Hendry, so I'm a fan
of those videos. Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now they have Rashad
Wood who had an awesome, fantastic twenty twenty three. And
if we did the rankings of running backs going into
the season last year, you really could have had the
Buccaneers quarterback because Baker was off an awful season and
the running back is like top five worst in the
(01:36:01):
NFL last year going into it quarterback and running back,
he was great. Touches and carries was second to McCaffrey.
Speaker 3 (01:36:09):
Is my boy.
Speaker 1 (01:36:09):
Sean Tucker getting number two reps is the big they say, unclear,
all right, Sean Tucker is the answer then, even though
I drafted him in every league last year and immediately
cut him by October. I'm gonna bite on that again,
aren't I. We're getting close to the end. Arizona Cardinals,
This one is one I love. James Connor is the
running back, and then Trey Benson, I believe is listen
(01:36:30):
is the backup. There you go. That is one of
my favorite. See this is the problem with fantasy. I
revealed my tricks. I love James Connor. I'm keeping him
in the league, James, go look at James Connor's stats
the last seven years. It's him and Taysom Hill. Every year.
People right off Taysom Hill and James Connor. All they
do is get you points every single week. I'll take
him all the time.
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
Arizona Cardinals, you got that one right, San Fransis and
forty nine Ers obviously the starter.
Speaker 1 (01:36:55):
Iscaffrey. I was gonna say, like Jeff Wilson, I thought
was there at a point, Elijah Eli E I think
it goes by like four different names now just mister Mitchell. Okay,
I think the Seahawks backfield might be the best potential
backfield Kenneth Walker and Charmonay. Yep, but I would here's
the problem with Kenneth Walker and Charmon Ay. They ain't
(01:37:17):
done done yet.
Speaker 3 (01:37:18):
Yes, I'm saying that's what I'm saying, the best potential backfield.
Speaker 1 (01:37:20):
I don't think I grouped them in with like the Chargers,
where it's like you could get a great Kenth Walker
was so good at Michigan State Charminey was so good
at Michigan a UCLA. I don't even one of them
almost should get traded in the similar spot to Jamal Williams,
Like both of them should get a bulk of the
carries on another team and on another roster. Oh all right,
I agree with that. Whatever, how about the Rams? This
(01:37:43):
was one of the ones that got me Kyron Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:37:46):
There you go, Oh gosh, you know the other one
I do. Come on, you didn't go for a heisman? Oh,
Blake Corum, Yeah, yep, there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:37:59):
That's not I mean, Kyra. Here's the problem with the Rams, right,
Kyeren Williams is gonna be one of these super high
picks this season, and because not just because he had
a really nice season last year, but because Knerin Williams
looks the MVP of Champion League. So if you won
your fantasy football championship last season, I'm willing to say
that Kyern Williams was the answer to who appeared most
(01:38:20):
on championship teams because of how good he was down
the stretch and fantasy people love doing that stuff. He's
gonna be the most overpicks fantasy player this seasons I'd
say most likely to bust is Kyeran Williams from where
he's drafted, which is a perfect segue to this Lovak.
For the first time ever in the history of the show,
you and I have competed in fantasy football leagues before,
(01:38:40):
but we've never actually done a draft on the air.
We talked to our commissioner, big Al of the iHeartMedia
League next week to rather than the dump, to close
out the show from right around like five thirty five
thirty five to the end of the show, we are
gonna find out live on the air what pick we have.
We're gonna be drafting live on the air. We're gonna
(01:39:02):
go through all the storylines and everything else you're trying
to figure out. So we're gonna do a fantasy football
draft live on there. Look, it's not gonna be trying
to figure out who's gonna take who it's We're gonna
do as much draft strategy talk as we can. Okay,
it's a regular league. Here's what we're thinking about running back,
wide receiver. So trying our best to help use you
prep for your fantasy football drafts as we do it
(01:39:22):
live on the air, with the emotions. If someone snags
your player right before us. We will promise to have
the dump button ready. That will be a lot of fun.
Next week you can join us live and maybe you
canna have your fantasy draft with us on your phone
or however you're doing it. We're gonna do a fantasy
draft live on the air. This seven better finish. I'm
trying to talk as much as I can. This is
seven battles, the one what are you doing? Seven? Where
(01:39:45):
are we going here? He's gonna get beat? Oh my gosh, unbelievable.
I had the seven four one exactly box. That's a
nice set.
Speaker 3 (01:39:56):
That was just a bat.
Speaker 1 (01:39:58):
I think I have that one bat left for later,
which will come up in my play of the Day,
which could very well be next.
Speaker 3 (01:40:03):
But first, when I tell you about C four and
we were you.
Speaker 1 (01:40:07):
Know, obviously the C four Smart Energy Bankroll Challenge is
going on between you and myself, Quinnon and Cantara over
on picks one O six. But I was dragging today,
guys goes. Did you have a C form like you know,
I had a C four. Imagine how bad I'd be.
Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
I'd be sleeping in on the stage here at Van
Slicks if I hadn't had a grape C four today.
Speaker 1 (01:40:25):
I love the grape. The great popsicle is the best
flavor in the entire pack. I had the creamsicle today
I never had. It's good.
Speaker 2 (01:40:33):
I'm not I'm more of a regular orange guy in
the critic. But when it comes to the popsicles, grape
than cherry. Those are one two for everything, for everything
there is. Well, grape was in vodka.
Speaker 1 (01:40:43):
Probably not a bad way to live your life responsibly,
of course, but those great popsicle flavors are great.
Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
I needed an ultimate today is what I needed. I
need that extra hundred milligrams of caffeine.
Speaker 3 (01:40:51):
That's that would have put me over the top.
Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
Again.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
We're lucky that I'm not sleeping on the stage. I
mean really just like full blown just I was. I
struggle by today party one, but that C four gave
me the energy I needed to get the show going.
Speaker 3 (01:41:03):
Here we are rolling along. Might just want an exactive
for myself, not for the charity. But you know, I'm
sure I'll donate somewhere or something. Guys knows, I randomly
donate the things. You catch me the right moment with
the credit cards in my hand, I'll donate, damn or anything.
Speaker 1 (01:41:17):
I'm not out of it. Thanks to C four. I
got one player out of me. No, no, no, I
got one sitting here. Race Dine coming up. I got
a Race Dine play coming up that I'm gonna give.
I feel good about this one. And Levet caught me
firing off things at the Kiosks. I will confess what
my play in the day is, even though that action
is not coming up until Saturday. I confess what my
wagers were. All right. Play of the Day is coming

Time for the play of the day, which is brought
to by Mohawks Chevrolet. Together, let's drive at Mohawk Chevy
where they always go out of their way to please you.
So when we went to break it was the one.
Seven four was the exact. There was an inquiry. It's
unofficial at this moment, but it appears.
Speaker 3 (01:46:42):
As though save up the one all the way down.
Speaker 1 (01:46:45):
To the show.
Speaker 3 (01:46:47):
So it's seven.
Speaker 1 (01:46:49):
I had that too, with the other one way more
for me. Thanks you nothing, guys, jerk uh Andrew Champagne
if you just texted epic hell out there, we cashed.
Shout out to Andrew Champagne, well done, my well done,
I got disc Isn't there too much?
Speaker 3 (01:47:08):
Is there too much rain?
Speaker 1 (01:47:10):
Too much rain for you to be who was sweating
that out? More Andrew Champagne for finally having something go
the right way without weather. This year's me this guy
over here who yelled something out very loud and glad
our microphones weren't loud for what he yet out. Oh
my gosh, that was a lot of fun. It's still unofficial.
You're right, I don't want to don't want to see
some quite yet before we hear the whistle. But you're
(01:47:32):
you're dancing on the one bud.
Speaker 3 (01:47:35):
Yeah, you pulled out of the winter Circle pretty easily too.
I mean, uh, that was a fun race.
Speaker 1 (01:47:41):
Now that I know what the results have changed, it's
a lot wow.
Speaker 3 (01:47:44):
Yeah, it's still unofficial.
Speaker 1 (01:47:45):
We'll see. So it's time for the play of the day.
What were you doing over at the wagering this kiosk?
Speaker 2 (01:47:52):
So there's different kiosks here inside van Slakes over here
at the sport book at Rivers Casina.
Speaker 1 (01:47:57):
It's official. Seven is the winner? Uh one.
Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
You know, we do the horse racing across the country,
and then you can also bet other sports over there.
Speaker 1 (01:48:04):
You were over betting the other sports today. I have
such a wimpy bet. Wimpy bet, but I feel good
about State is a brand name. This is my best
advice that I can offer people week zero in week one,
very similar college basketball. People who are gonna fire off
bets at college football. A great examples for twenty twenty two,
(01:48:25):
USC plays Fresno State. Fresno State is not gonna get
that love because they're Fresno State. On at USC people
bet brand names in the week zero. In Week one,
give me Georgia Tech. And this one I really can't stand.
I was begging that FCS's own Montana State was playing
(01:48:46):
New Mexico. So what's happened in the past is always
that FCS school never gets loved. James Madison cashed on
this a few years ago that all they are a
team that shouldn't be d Wan blah blah blah. So
here we go, FCS versus FBS, the New Mexico Lobo
is gonna FCS team. You hope that Montana State might
be catching points. That opened at eight and a half
four Montana State minus eight and a half the favorite.
(01:49:09):
That line's moving all the way up to thirteen. I
pushed it back down to ten, so I pushed Georgia
Tech and Montana I'm moving the lines the wrong way.
So with all the things said and done, I'm sitting
around like a plus one ten wager for Georgia Tech
and Montana State. So that's what I fired off. Those
are my two plays for Week zero, action in Montana
(01:49:30):
State and Georgia Tech to cover and race nine coming
up here in the C four Smart Energy bank Roll Challenge,
I have a nine to ten exact the box Justify
American Pharaoh. Those are the dance of those horses coming
up nine ten in race nine, and I have a
daily double play coming up here. If you listen to
(01:49:51):
the show earlier, Andrew Champagne offered up his picks. He goes,
you can place in daily doubles with race six and
seven or seven and eight. I decided to go the
opps away. I'm playing the one horse here coming up
in race eight disco ball. So I just cashed that
seven seven eight is my play. Let's go get it
should say that I have the one in the three
in the daily double. Let me show you my ticket
(01:50:13):
one in three coming up here. The show I was,
I was screwed up my own wager there, one in three,
so let's hope for a cash here coming up.
Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
All right, So my play today is here. It's the
is Is horse Racing.
Speaker 1 (01:50:25):
It's the three in this one coming up and uh,
and then the five, so uncle Moe is the father
of the three in the next race, and uh, the
number five is spooky lady, And I thought it was
a cool name.
Speaker 3 (01:50:36):
So I'm doing a double. I got a dollar left.
It's my only only bet left.
Speaker 1 (01:50:40):
For today's h C Force Forenergy Backrol Challenge, So it's
a it's a double. I need the three in this
in the race eight, and I need to five in
race nine. If I get those two, the beating of
gods is pretty much complete. I mean, let's be real,
it's it's the beating of gods right now. You're the
(01:51:00):
only one who's like a legit shot at me. And
even that's like, you know, kind of a stretch to
say out loud, you know you have a shot, not
a legit shot. I want to do quick math here
now I'm looking at this. If I had played one
of Andrew's suggested bets, if I had just john what
he told me, the daily double six and seven, seven
and eight, that would have paid me twenty four dollars.
(01:51:21):
So I would have been down right now about gosh,
more than I thought the seventeen dollars that would have
been down. So if I just listened to him and
taken that, I hoping that won't cost Yeah, but he's
a ninny. I just love it. I love that they're fighting.
I'm Whip. I have no beef with you whatsoever. I
(01:51:41):
love you, brother, but it's just funny that you're the
one person I've heard the Santis talk about and then
you're talking you're the and you're the only person over
here say anything bad about the Santas.
Speaker 3 (01:51:50):
So I'm like, I just want to. I'm just gonna,
you know, stoke those flames the best I can get.
You guys going after each other even more than than
the normal.
Speaker 1 (01:52:00):
What happened? Okay, all right, all right, I just saw
a little thing pop up again. Sorry, Wiser, all right,
I didn't know you could see that. Sorry about that.
Speaker 3 (01:52:11):
That's ladies.
Speaker 2 (01:52:14):
Uh do you see they they've named who's taking over
for Lewis Riddick on on on college game Day and
stuff like that or college football.
Speaker 1 (01:52:21):
I should say, uh, so Lewis Riddick is being replaced. No,
Louise Riig is taking over for RG three. I said
that wrong. Sorry, So he's probably gonna be working games
with Mark Jones. Appensoude Louse Riggs is a really knowledgeable
college football person. I know a lot of people think
about him as NFL first, but yeah, you want to
talk about the difference of personalities between Lewis Ritick and
(01:52:43):
Roberts very but not very professional that whoever is the
opposite of RG three have him call the games. And
they found Lewis Riddick.
Speaker 3 (01:52:50):
Well, it's it seems that he's still gonna do some
of the NFL stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:52:53):
They said, is some of the money and I countdown
all that, all that stuff, but he's gonna move over
there and handle that.
Speaker 2 (01:52:59):
I also think it's it's weird because it was almost
when when Mike Mayock, you know, these other guys were
coming out of the booth and coming out of the
booth and then going into to you know, run football teams.
He was rumored to be a GM on a lot
of different football teams. Raiders were on that list at
one point, I think Lions, and he's still at ESPN.
(01:53:21):
It's weird because I remember what people had ask him
about it. He wouldn't shut it down, but he wouldn't
he wouldn't get into it.
Speaker 3 (01:53:27):
I think he wanted it. I think he wanted to
be a GM. It's weird that he didn't get a chance.
Speaker 1 (01:53:31):
I think he was in the mix. I don't know
what happened during the interview process. I felt like Isaiah
Thomas around the Dream Team. I don't know what happened
during that, but I wasn't selected during that process or
whatever that mean quote is. Uh yeah, it seems like
everything from NFL Draft to scouting out players to his
NFL overall experience, he seemed like somebody who would be
(01:53:55):
somebody would be content potentially hired by an NFL team.
I saw some breaking news and Major League Baseball right now,
Seattle Mariners expected to fire their manager. Remember earlier in
the top four for him, my boy Sattle got embarrassed
by Los Angeles. I think the organization agreed they might
be already looking for a new manager on the way. Well,
that didn't take long.
Speaker 3 (01:54:16):
That's that's a little quick, a little quick gen around
all right.
Speaker 1 (01:54:20):
I mean that's Mariner's seven and a half games back
in the wild Card. Yeah, they've still there, don't They're
not done though, you know what I mean? Like they
feel Do they feel like they could jump up and
lash out you at any time? Yes, the talent's there.
They look like I feel like it was yesterday. They
were leading the American League West. They've lost eight of
their last ten games. They've lost three straight this was
(01:54:40):
a team. That's like, Okay, if it's not gonna be
Houston this year and Texas gonna rebuild, Seattle's going to
be the team. Yikes. I mean they got a forty
games left band at thirty eight games left for Seattle.
I don't know whoever they hire is gonna be able
to rally the troops that quick. Especially how good Minnesota
Minnisotas looked better than Seattle. I don't think. So what's
(01:55:03):
my show? Why would you pick Buck? Buck's busy? Isn't
he Is he englfing or something or fishing and literally
doing anything? Bullpen I thought he was. No, we don't
need Mets fans, Yankee fans. You felt my thing. You
know what's going on. You know what tire Buk show.
Go ahead, see how it goes? Go ahead? Do you
(01:55:24):
want to go down there? You want to date him?
And this is why I'm not dating. This is why
I've been happily married for a long time. You want
to see how that goes? Go right ahead, take him
right to the olive garden. I get those red sticks.
See how the date with Buck show Walter goes like
we had a really nice guy come up and tell
us like.
Speaker 3 (01:55:40):
He's like, you guys can tell you guys actually know
each tell you like each other about your knowledge.
Speaker 2 (01:55:43):
Well, you're funny. I'm like, wow, we want this guy money.
That's when you know that you've worked with someone so
low that you can just pull the pull.
Speaker 1 (01:55:50):
The Bucks Show Walter card and Gods gets I hit
guys in the eye with a pack with like a
wrapped up paper earlier today, and he laughed. I brought
up Bucks Show Walter and he was ready to throw fists.
I said, God, get him back here.
Speaker 2 (01:56:07):
At least time with the Integrative Sleep Center. Gus goes,
are you tired because you didn't sleep?
Speaker 32 (01:56:10):

Speaker 3 (01:56:10):
I supped so good last night.
Speaker 2 (01:56:12):
It's cool out. It was like one of those I
had the window open. The only problem I have is
the cats will go back and forth over me to
the window. They they don't realize they can walk around me.
Speaker 1 (01:56:21):
But the mouthpiece that I got from the Integrative Sleep
Center and Boss the spot, he's my airway open. My
It's just it's a complete and total difference maker. This
sleep appen is under control. And last night was that night,
the first night since before vacation that I slept great,

The guy came up said the nice things while you
were talking to uh Freguy j Will, who runs the
promotions here at the Rivers casino and resort does a
great job. He goes up to me and he goes, hey,
are you on the air. I'm like, now, I'm going
back in a minute. He goes see, did you see
the news? And I'm like, I hope, so what you're
talking about?
Speaker 1 (02:01:14):
He goes, yeah, they found uh, you know, they found
the Leprechaun from Lucky Charms. They found uh the Captain
and Captain Crunch and the rabbit from Tricks. They found
him all Dad, they police think there's a serial killer
out there. And he walked away. I was like, you said,
oh my god, get out of here. I knew what
he was as he said Lever, I'm like, oh, here
(02:01:36):
we go. You love it. That's what I've heard. That
your five hot minutes.
Speaker 3 (02:01:43):
He's ready?
Speaker 1 (02:01:43):
Can he can write material together? The Poopy Bowl? Uh
hashtag no Jets, no Rogers, no starter is gonna play
in the in the Stoopy Bowl as the Jets, Giants
and Jets play show.
Speaker 2 (02:01:56):
They met up in practice and the Jets owned the Giants.
The Jet's defense made Daniel Jones look sloppy. Sauce Gardner
had to like, like, did you see the sauce Gardener
interview afterwards.
Speaker 1 (02:02:08):
No, they asked him when he thought of Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2 (02:02:10):
He was like he's a professional quarterback, and then like
he didn't know what else to say, like he's like
I almost got him, and he looked away whatever. And
there's a point where you see him literally look over
at the Giants PR guy like can you help me
because I'm about to say this guy sucks like I'm
about to, and I don't want to, Like we're roommates,
I don't want to do that.
Speaker 1 (02:02:27):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:02:28):
The offense looked good against the Giants defense for the Jets.
The Jets defense look good against the Giants offense. It
was it was a good day for the Jets to
the point where now they're not gonna play in this game.
Speaker 1 (02:02:39):
I feel myself aged at times because of moments like this,
Like if you watch more and more sports, I'm sure
what are your ages? You know this happens like a man,
it was a really good player that fifteen for the Chiefs. Mahomes, Oh,
Mahomes right, Like this situation, Uh, there was an author,
use an author here instead of the play. I read books.
My name was gone one week ago. Today we are
(02:03:02):
having the discussion Zach Harris and I about whether or
not it's a big deal if Aaron Rodgers plays in
the program while he was sending ransom letters to my
to the person cat sitting for me. I can't remember
the guy's name. He was a in an Italian last name.
When he wrote the article for The New York Post.
I'm sure it was good. I'm sure he's a fine author.
But that's how I'm remembering in my head. And is
not gonna play the back I feel like it's not
a big deal that Rodgers isn't gonna play. H really Okay,
(02:03:24):
so here with this entertainment value of that game is over.
And that's what he said. He went crazy. He's like,
how is he gonna do this? How is Rogers not
gonna play at all in twenty twenty three besides four plays?
He's not gonna play it all in this preseason Again,
the author for the New York Post is saying this,
and then he's gonna show up Week one against Nick
Bosa and the forty nine or defense he is and
(02:03:45):
by and by the way, that could very well be
able to back lock. Oh that game could be a lock. Okay,
I need you to pay that off. Hang on, in
what way are you leaning right now? Obviously, get about
two weeks till Fantasy Versus Reality come and Levac had
an awesome yere. You and I were texting last night
about some other things we're gonna be competing in, at
least off the air. But what were you meaning for
(02:04:08):
a Levac Locke for that Monday night game? Jay E
t whoas jets chats. I just I think it's set
up for him. I think it's set up for them
to do well in that game. I really do. It's
too early for us to fire off a Hlavak and
gods beer bet uh, I was ever too early for that?
What are you talking about? I just look at that game,
(02:04:29):
and I wonder, if you're playing Survivor, what's your favorite
Survivor A play of Week one and the one that
everyone's gonna bite on is the Bengals and Patriots, and
I want nothing to do with that game, And actually,
in fact I like the Patriots to cover because we'll
get to that later on in the month of whoever's
considered to be the worst even in the NFL, and
Week one always covers and we've heard that there from
(02:04:50):
me A thousand times. I don't know who my Survivor
play is going to be Week one. I've thought about
San Francisco, and now hearing that you're so confident in
that game is a lock with I'm not that brave,
not yet.
Speaker 2 (02:05:07):
No, I think it's set up nice for and it's
a move and the lines moving to the point where
it looks like I may other people would be I
might have to jump in early and get this one
because now the jet's only a five and a half
way favorite was pull that up on the phone real
quick and lock that.
Speaker 1 (02:05:21):
In summer showing four and a half, ESPN, BET shows
four and a half, Right, depending on rivers, you can
always move your lines. Don't forget that. You can do
what you want with it. This A just yelled at me. Hey,
you know even on a while, let's do a reality
how about you show your mouth when you're talking to me.
But Garrett Wilson, Gary Wilson, you're showing you and I
were sitting in studios like watch this play four and
(02:05:43):
a half. Two defenders down beaten guys. Remember Wilson rocking
this single digit this year Breece Hall for everything he
was asked to do, out of the backfield. Jet fans,
no hugging this roster is, but it is worth sitting Rogers.
Don't list anybody else. The idea is what he's doing fine, exactly,
the idea that he could even be injured playing inst
(02:06:04):
to the Giants and two seasons are lost. No, cannot
have it happen. Borderline fireable offense. If Rogers went on
the field and got hurt. If Rogers went on the
field and got hurt and they didn't, what is it
three losses and you fire everybody? Let you start over
right then and there? Oh I would if Rogers got
hurt and missed three months, if Rogers missed two months.
Speaker 3 (02:06:26):
Right, if he's not gona yeah, if he's not gonna play.
Speaker 1 (02:06:30):
Cal Rex rod and be like, come and finish this
for us, Like you don't know financially how we can
do this, So Rodgers not playing the preseason bums out
in New York fans don't forget. You can listen to
the Jets and Giants on our sister station, Picks one
oh six that our coverage that day will get underway.
It's six thirty kickoff set for seven thirty that night. Yeah,
I'm like I said I this preseason has been kind
(02:06:51):
of I've I don't think I've ever hated a preseason
as much. I hate this NFL preseason.
Speaker 2 (02:06:57):
Because they're doing what's right. You know, these joint practices.
That's where you're seeing most of the starters. The highlights
are you can get everything you need out of Sports Center.
And not that any preseason is great, this one sees
to be the worst. What's bothering me the most, and
this is gonna shock the hell out of you is
the kickoff And it's bothering. Oh, it's bothering the most
(02:07:18):
because I know for a fact that it's gonna be
good when the season starts, because nobody wants to show
you what they've got like it's you can see it
right now there is from from the Hall of Fame
game to the end of week two of the preseason.
You can see that it's gonna be entertaining. It's different,
it's weird. It took a second to get used to it.
(02:07:39):
But the problem I'm having with it is it still
looks crappy because whatever it is that Sean Payton's come
up with, was it bones fossil, whatever he's come up with, whatever, whatever.
You know, the hardball is going They're not gonna do
it yet. Week one to week four, you those there
is going to be a kickoff eating Sports Center like
(02:08:01):
every every week because somebody's gonna do the thing that
they don't think you know they're gonna do, and everybody's
gonna go like like they're gonna break out into Robin
Hood men in tights instead of blocking like men men
in tights like just it's gonna be the kickoff is
going to be entertaining this year. And every time they
kick off of like do something dude, like poking with
(02:08:21):
a stick. I know it's coming, but it's not gonna
come in the preseason. I hope you're right, and I
think you're going to be right. I think it's a
great take by you because look at the history of
sports the last thirty years, when anything got added to
a sport. We'll talk about the four major ones, football, baseball, basketball, hockey,
and more of these changes have come to the last
ten to fifteen years. Hockey has more goals than ever before,
(02:08:42):
it's more entertaining. There was a one point in basketball.
There was no three point line and no dunking allowed.
Someone said what wait, the most exciting play the dunk
is not allowed because that fraud. Wilt Chamberlain put it
back in. And what if the team's down to eight
with like a minute ago, They're just gonna keep fouling.
Speaker 1 (02:08:59):
This is boring. Let's get a three point line. Everything's
made basketball better, the zone defense again, the four point
playing arena football. I wasn't gonna use arena football, but
it does make the game more interesting. And look at
the NFL. The most boring play for a long time
in the NFL use arena football. Just as I sit here,
had to tell all many Firebirds gear I have an
(02:09:21):
interviewed tomorrow with the rebound off the nets. I shared
that on social media. I'm excited to hear that the
most boring play in the NFL was the extra point
after the score. They said, you know how, we're gonna
make this more entertaining. We're gonna bump it back fifteen
yards and we're gonna offer the teams the opportunity to
go for two. So anytime something has been added or
adjusted in the four major and baseball, the pitch clock,
(02:09:42):
it's been awesome. It's just great. I still have one.
I haven't been. I haven't spent money the way I
have at Kings before the pitch clock since the pitch
clock is that because it's faster?
Speaker 3 (02:09:55):
And yet why am I put that money in the
outing suite?
Speaker 1 (02:09:59):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (02:09:59):
Like I And don't get me wrong, like anybody who's like,
oh look at oh a big deal. No, I find
them when they're on sale, like you know what I mean,
Like Yankee Trails have a special or something, you go
sit in the outy suite for like way less money
stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (02:10:10):
But like even now, I'm not gonna do.
Speaker 1 (02:10:12):
That's less time, that's less open bar what it means,
how am I gonna you know, how am I gonna
fall asleep, sleep fart on the Yankee Trail busts back
if I don't have the extra thirty forty minutes of boozing.
It is made the sport more entertaining. The only thing
that's been added that is not making the sport more
entertaining is the runner on second base. That one is
so incredibly awful. It's STOOPI game. How about poopy game?
(02:10:36):
Am I? Right? Yeah? You like that?
Speaker 3 (02:10:38):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (02:10:39):
Stow that out myself right there? College football College football
got got away with it, stopping the clock after the
first down to make games four and a half hours long.
But so you're taking about kickoff if you're not a
fan of what it looks like right now, you know,
there's two other alternatives you could have taken. Alternative Number one,
you don't want the kicker to boom it out of
the back of the end zone every single time and
go to four minutes of commercial because that's how it
(02:11:00):
used to be. We can go back to that. Or
number two, the play's gone. This is at least the
best of both worlds. The play still exists, and you're
just not starting the ball to twenty five yard line
and you're not getting the ball getting boomed to the
back of the end zone. Old schools football fans thinking,
dude again, bring it back.
Speaker 3 (02:11:17):
God, I don't I don't want.
Speaker 1 (02:11:19):
Sishy football, get a thirty yard hits start, throw your
head at him and put a leather helmet home. No,
you're not getting that. I don't know. You know what
impression that was. I don't know. I like region was
that it was universal football fans is like a good
dude to me.
Speaker 3 (02:11:35):
He probably hangs out with Cory from the sounds of them.
Speaker 1 (02:11:37):
You know, I've been working on one of my impressions
for football season. It's constipated Tony Romo. I don't know, Jim,
what do they get a doe? I know, I'm sure
that went.
Speaker 2 (02:11:49):
Up by September? What that'll be ready to go ball?
Have you ever known that you look like like an
inflated Derek Carr? Now, I guess look at me like
Derek Derek Carr. If somebody put an air pump up your.
Speaker 1 (02:12:09):
Your a little Derek A little t J watt. Yeah, Brady,
there's no TJ. There's no t J. Water like Derek
Carr a little bit.
Speaker 2 (02:12:18):
Yeah, that's the sounds you're making while they pump you
up too. Yeah, you look a little bit of the
beard everything. Imagine you got your haircut. I'm thinking about
getting my haircut.
Speaker 1 (02:12:26):
You should get a haircut by a professional, though maybe
next week by a professional, depends on this race goes.
I gotta pay my barber and cash these days. What
is your paying on me? That's what you paid for that.
I get my haircut once every years. Now every three
months is the solstice? Three months? Like I really don't know.
I think it's spring winter fall, so the season is summer.
(02:12:50):
So every four months, four seasons, pretty much right that
every soul. No one told me they be math twenty.
First of every three months, I get my haircut, which
is incredibly sad. All right, so as I said, no,
uh no, Aaron Rodgers, real quick though, I will feel it.
Here here's a little bonus for you.
Speaker 2 (02:13:09):
I was just made aware by YouTube uh that the
they are going to now that they're getting the Sunday
Ticket for YouTube TV for the first time, fans are
gonna have access to a customizable multiview game presentation where
they can watch two, three or four games on the.
Speaker 3 (02:13:26):
Same split screen.
Speaker 1 (02:13:27):
In addition, there's a Fantasy view where you can connect
your fantasy account to see key plays and multiview combinations
catered to your fantasy team per YouTube. Awesome, really cool.
I am very excited to have you TV. I don't
(02:13:49):
I've thought, well, there you go. That's the thing, Like
I've thought about getting YouTube TV for seven years, and
I'm like, I don't know, probably.
Speaker 3 (02:14:00):
TV, tell you, I don't know how you did it.
Speaker 2 (02:14:05):
As soon as I did that, I had to pooh
right like it really instantly, like it was maybe it's
the coffee I draged. But like as soon as I
started making that sound, I like had to run for porcelain.
Speaker 1 (02:14:14):
You are known for your impressions. I got one two
in the holsteret. This is gonna be mine, constipated Tony Roma,
Who's gonna take off this fall? It makes me have
to go too, though, don't do it.
Speaker 3 (02:14:24):
It's the brown note from South Park.
Speaker 1 (02:14:26):
I'm considering this. I'm probably gonna stick with red zone.
Red Zone fits my life a little bit better right now.
If I was younger, if I didn't have kids, if
I was like in my early twenties. And I believe
can YouTube TV share passwords? I don't know how that works.
I have no clue. I don't know either, but I'm
thinking about YouTube TV. I think I think a lot
of people would probably do it. They're offering a lot
of good stuff. I believe they still have red Zone too,
(02:14:48):
unless they just went I don't red zones on NFL
Plus now. But are you only talking nice about red
Zone because you're hoping Scott hands And is still going
to come on the show this year And I have
to email him again tomorrow, so that.
Speaker 32 (02:15:04):
Gotta go.
Speaker 1 (02:15:05):

It's Lavak and Guz on ninety five nine Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (02:21:47):
I got join those microphones on it.
Speaker 2 (02:21:49):
Probably so I'm only being a radio twenty five years,
twenty six years, that's fine. Uh, We're a live from
Van Slicks inside Rivers Casino and Resort. And I have
no idea what happens if you only have one like
one horse picked and like one of a pick of
a double and a pick.
Speaker 1 (02:22:04):
Three, and that horse scratches.
Speaker 2 (02:22:06):
So we're gonna find out together, kids, because I'm still
waiting to find out what they're gonna do.
Speaker 1 (02:22:10):
Here, because that's what I had. And if they just
kicked me back the money, that means I have a
dollar left that goes back towards the bank. I think
that's what they did. You can fire off. You can
either keep that dollar to yourself. At this point, I'm
gonna add it to the sheet. I'm gonna ad you
one dollar back. I have cashed my daily double wager.
(02:22:32):
I don't know if they did give it back yet.
Oh my gosh, they didn't give it back yet. I
have to check mine. I did a two dollars double there,
and I believe I actually lost money. So Gus, that's
so gosh. I will do the math. Well when we
go to the next break. I believe I've only profited
one dollar.
Speaker 2 (02:22:52):
Yeah, they kicked me back money for an exact that
I did that he was part of that would have
paid if he if he ran.
Speaker 1 (02:22:58):
So they have not double.
Speaker 2 (02:23:00):
I won't know until after the next race what they're
gonna do with the double, and I won't know for
the pick three, probably until the end of the day.
Speaker 1 (02:23:08):
What's funnier about that about potentially me not even profiting
is that again earlier in the show, answer Champagne that
here's how you should play this. If I had just
done the other one he had told me to do,
it would have paid twenty four bucks. I had played
the three a one to three in that final race
the three moments before scratches, So that would have actually
paid much better if it didn't scratch. But instead I get,
(02:23:30):
I get all the scenarios that could have played out
the worst. But I'm not done yet. Nine ten, coming
up in race nine, nine ten, coming up in race nine.
I'm still playing then, even though I don't have the
three in the mix on that like nine ten to
close out the day. All right, let's see, let's see
what happens.
Speaker 2 (02:23:47):
Remember I told you I thought I had heard that,
uh that John STIRLI was gonna pop in and hang
out on the booth.
Speaker 1 (02:23:54):
Yes, it was yesterday and it was the TV booth.
He went and hung out with Michael Kay, his former partner.
But he had a nice day. I don't know how
you're gonna react to one of the things that came.
Speaker 2 (02:24:11):
Out of that time together because you were a little
You didn't seem to want him to come back at all. No,
So what if I told you that he's quote open
to returning for the playoffs the postseason?
Speaker 3 (02:24:30):
He was asked about it, he said.
Speaker 1 (02:24:32):
Quote, the ball is in their court.
Speaker 3 (02:24:35):
They would have to ask.
Speaker 2 (02:24:36):
I would feel bad for the guys who have done
it all year. He goes on to say what a
great job they've done. I don't want to hurt one
person for another. I think the kids are doing a
great job, no problems, and that's what like basically, not
only would you come back? Who's doing a better job?
Speaker 3 (02:24:56):
So we could we could have John Sterling act for
the playoffs?
Speaker 30 (02:25:00):
Kids?
Speaker 1 (02:25:01):
How high do I want to get on my high horse? Now?
How high do we because we're ben horses today? The
four challenge? You know what, I'm hopping right on top
of it. You know why these bothered me more than anything,
Like Johnny Carson may have been the best at this,
although I didn't live no, no, no, I didn't live
through the Carson time, and many will remind me Johnny
(02:25:22):
Carson had the greatest schedule of all time, where he
worked like twice a week, three days a week. Half
the shows were reruns somewhere. Howard Stern's like, that's a
great idea, but exactly right.
Speaker 3 (02:25:32):
Three days a week, and I think it works like
days a year.
Speaker 1 (02:25:36):
So the reason I brought up Carson though, and Ellen
Degenners claims she's going to do this too, is that
when it was over, it was over. They disappeared, they
were done. I'm out of the spotlight. I had the
run what let him kind of did that?
Speaker 3 (02:25:47):
But then Netflix throwing bad cat right.
Speaker 1 (02:25:50):
John Stewart did too, and John Stewart and he's on
He's on the Daily Show. I think he does it
every Monday now. So the problem that bothers me, and
maybe this is just my way through my career, is
that it hurts the sports broadcasting business like it hurts
the media business, because when people who have done it
for twenty and thirty and forty and fifty years hold
(02:26:12):
on to that same position, like John Sterling could have
retired twenty years ago when he was in his mid sixties,
and that you could have had another broadcaster for ten
years to build this career, and then you could have
had another broadcaster who was there for ten years. That
these positions like if you're an aspiring broadcast, I'm not
talking about me, I'm just talking about the field in general.
That when people don't leave those spots and they're just
(02:26:33):
doing it because they like it and the performance has
fallen off. And with all due respect to John Sterling,
you can just go on the internet and see someone
say it's never been that great. No one, no one
gets it. No, I love John Stone. I know a
lot of this is what happened. Well, you don't have that,
you don't have that heritage with the Orioles. You got
a couple of young pups who don't know he talks
(02:26:53):
smack about their franchise. John Miller's been fired in the past,
and Kevin Brown had that weird thing. So yes, the
Orioles few. Sure, broadcasting stuff has always been really odd,
but that's what bothers me. Like no other career, seriously,
maybe coaching is the only other one. Maybe you know
a different one, but no other career is I'm gonna
do something for fifty years and no one else is
(02:27:15):
gonna do it. Coaching is probably right there, but maybe
a priest, but that doesn't really count. Like I'm talking
to say, that doesn't count in the sense of like
you're just gonna continue to do that. There's other churches
like this is. I'm going to do this for effort
and I don't care if I'm good or bad at it.
I'm gonna do it. But it hurts the field. Like
whether you're a television anchor, whether you're a writer, whether
(02:27:36):
you're a broadcaster, people won't pursue that career because there's
no opportunity to pursue that career anymore. That's what bothers
me about stuff like Strayling love Hey, uh, Emmanuel Verberry
and Justin Shackling. You guys have done a great job,
but now we're gonna bring back John Sterling, Like then,
why did I do all the work if you're never
gonna give me the payoff it?
Speaker 3 (02:27:57):
He comes back for the playoffs, not the fore and
here let's let's let's be clear.
Speaker 2 (02:28:02):
If somebody was just absolutely dusting it, just just blowing
the doors off, it was just obvious. There's a male Babari,
Ryan Rue, whoever, Craig Carton, Uh, some of the dudes
from fan we're in there today, if any of them
were just absolutely annihilate Ricky Ricardo's doing the best job
in my opinion. By the way, if anybody was destroying it,
these conversations would never happen. They would They would be
(02:28:25):
a cute little conversation between John Sterling whoever's interviewing him,
and then it would go away and he would come
in and have a little fun and do a comment
here or there or whatever because we love him. As
he would record the home run calls for everybody, but like,
nobody's done better than what Sterling did before. I mean,
obviously he's a little older, he's having some trouble this year,
(02:28:46):
but he's rested now.
Speaker 1 (02:28:47):
I have no problem with it. And that's you know what.
But that walks into a really dangerous spot because your
question you asked is like, hey, nobody is doing a
good enough job to take the spot. That's why there's
still Brandon Tierneyano was a part of the broadcast today. Yep.
But that question seems very obvious to a lot of people, like, hey,
if you are a really good broadcaster, you would already
have the job. However, and big bull Capitol letters, however,
(02:29:12):
what does that actually mean for the New York Yankees
radio call? Like, I'm all those guys have done fantastic.
But for people to say they're doing a good job,
does that mean they have to be John Sterling two
point zero John Sterling light And you'd say, like, no,
they don't have to be the next John Sterling. But
like the White Sox is a great example of this.
They had a guy named Hawk Harrelson. You can't put
it on the ball, yes, like he had all these
(02:29:33):
like all those type of calls, like John Sterling and
the guy who does it now for the White Sox
is trying to be Hawk Harrelson. So it's like, oh,
he's doing great because he's like Hawk, Like do you
want him to just be John Sterling? I know, uh,
Greg Ginnatti on FA and had said like, hey, they
need like something different for home run calls. So are
you trying to be a great broadcast or whatever that
(02:29:53):
term means for the Yankee? Are you trying to be
John Sterling? Are you trying to be a mixer? It's
not as easy. They're doing a good job. It's what
does it actually mean to be a very good radio broadcaster?
Post John Sterling? Well, somebody will take over when Sterling
is one hundred percent done. If he you wouldn't want
to hear him do one one playoff game. I'd be good.
(02:30:16):
I'm good. You just don't see this is this is
your insecurity mine. This is you don't think you're as
good as those who came before you, So you want
them to get out of the way for you.
Speaker 2 (02:30:28):
You gotta kick him out of the room, man, you
gotta kick him down the stairs. You gotta be so good.
They can't take anybody else. I mean, listen, you didn't
have any problem when I came back.
Speaker 1 (02:30:38):
You were all about that. I'm just imagining someone's listening
to this child. They're like, it's all made sense after
nine years guys hating old people. Some old guy had
a spotty wanted and he kicked him and said this
should be me, this young pup out of Hobart and
he what about that Bud Pollaquin, Huh, where's he gone?
Since guy's has been there? What about that wolf character?
(02:31:01):
It's all make it all these old broadcasters on look
out gallaer On guy, he's coming for you next.
Speaker 2 (02:31:08):
Oh you want this job? This is that's why you're
like every time Arman leaves Texas, you're like, where is he?
Speaker 1 (02:31:14):
I know where you are? No, none of that. It's true.
Although someone's outing their head yesterday is guys, it only
took us nine years and figured out in scurity. It
really hurts the industry.
Speaker 3 (02:31:25):
It doesn't hurt the industry.
Speaker 1 (02:31:26):
It does not hurt the industry. What that old people
are sticking around for the jobs. You're in their eighties
and the guys who worked for it, like what, I
really don't know another career. Please at Tim, guys, you
I'm joys easy like that. It's not like you know,
but like it's I wish i'd never heard this here
telling you how you like Lee Corso was still on
game day. Lee Corso is way different.
Speaker 28 (02:31:46):
No, it's not.
Speaker 1 (02:31:46):
Lee Corso invented that position, like.
Speaker 3 (02:31:49):
John Sterling basically invented. You know, the Yankees radio.
Speaker 1 (02:31:52):
They were They were Yankee broadcasters before there were but
you don't know who they are. Oh my gosh, hang on,
Oh Yankee fans are gonna kill me. Here, my gosh,
it starts with a letter M. There were two famous
broadcasters and I actually know them, and they were awesome,
and I'm forgetting their names off the top my head.
Right now. I want to say when they wanted to
say melt up, but I think that's the actual name
(02:32:13):
of the player. There were two very famous broadcasters before
John Sterling. The point is Lee Corso invented that, Like
he had that position for college game day and he
can walk away. The internets told me for five years,
Courso's gotta go away. This is just it just happens
in life. Maybe this is mere mark mark this down.
I believe this truly honestly, I will not work this
(02:32:36):
job when I'm old and gray.
Speaker 3 (02:32:37):
Well, you're not that good that could work.
Speaker 1 (02:32:42):
I will be done, like I done done.
Speaker 2 (02:32:45):
If we're being sincere, what are the chances they're still
paying all this to do this at that point?
Speaker 26 (02:32:50):
Not high.
Speaker 3 (02:32:51):
They're not really paying me yet.
Speaker 1 (02:32:53):
So I mean, I can confidently tell you when the
time comes where they say either I'm done or I
tell them I'm done, I am not gonna be doing
this when I'm sixty or seventy or eighty or ninety,
I will be done done, So I will not be
coming back to No. I will be done. It's better
for the industry for people to get those for the industry.
Speaker 3 (02:33:12):
Why do you not think it is?
Speaker 1 (02:33:13):
Because this doesn't matter. It's whoever's best for the job,
go take the job. I feel like there's nobody.
Speaker 2 (02:33:18):
There's no Yankee fan right now who's going You know,
I'm not gonna listen to that game, but John Sterling's there,
and if the people, if you, if you can't fight
for that job and you can't understand that, you might
have to take a backseat for a couple.
Speaker 3 (02:33:33):
Of games here and there. Because a legend is going
to sit in that seat. That's on you.
Speaker 1 (02:33:38):
There's here's here's a great difference. Beween great broadcasters and
great coaches. Right, I'm gonna take a four off the
top of my head. I'm gonna take paternal out of it.
I'm gonna do Bowden and Beheim. Bouten and Beyheim are
great examples of this. That Bouden and Beheim became such
legends in those schools, both in a college football side
and college basketball side, that there was never gonna be
a time where they could really fire them. They had
(02:33:59):
so much success, winning and everything else that Jim Beheim
literally could have been on the sidelines till Syracuse until
he died. Bobby Bowden could have done the same thing.
Paterno I take out of it because of the controversy
and how that ended. But a college football coach, you
at least have a barometer to say, hey, you're not
winning as much. You need a change, we need something
to move on. This is not helping the program with
(02:34:22):
you sticking around this long. That ams in coaching. The
difference for broadcasting is that if you're falling back a bit,
I would be shocked. I can't even off the top
of my head tell you, hey, this guy broadcasted this
for thirty five years and he's not as good as
he was fifteen years ago. They need to fire the broadcaster.
I really don't have like Tom Brenneman's the closest castianos
(02:34:46):
it's a flyball like he's the closest because of controversy.
But the big differs in coaching in broadcasting is that
when they slip, and I'm not just talking radio broadcasts,
like television broadcasts, newspaper writers, they just don't get fired
because they're old and good.
Speaker 2 (02:35:00):
There's a bigger difference between John Sterling being a little
older maybe not as great, and Aaron Boone one day
being too old and not as great. The Yankees don't
win or lose based on what John Sterling does. You're
if you're a head coach, if you're a manager, you
directly impact the outcome of the game. So when you
(02:35:20):
lose your fastball, you got to go Sterling.
Speaker 1 (02:35:23):
Do I want there every night? No?
Speaker 3 (02:35:24):
Do I?
Speaker 1 (02:35:25):
But do I think it would be cool if he
popped up and called a couple innings or called the game. Sure,
John Sterling, That's why play by play broadcast. If you
want to argue what's the best gig in sports media?
You could argue with you that this is the best.
You just talk crap. We're in a casino on a Thursday.
The only reason we're not drunk right now is I
fall asleep, Like this is the job. Well, going back
(02:35:47):
to the coaching think talking about the wins losses for
Boone versus Sterling. We do have a barometer, like is
the show making money? Are you guys a rady? Like
there is a barometer to say, Hey, Levaka Goss aren't
doing X, Y and Z. We don't think they should
be there. Same with television. Hey, we're not drawing the
ratings in the revenue. We think a newstake. No, no, no,
this is a new face. We I tell people you
(02:36:07):
did earlier this morning. Uh, in like two minutes, just
let me get this point out. Then you can do
it like, Hey, there's a beautiful twenty five year old
male or female. She's or he's a bit older. We
think it's gonna catch the attention of people. Hey, the
take that he had about women in sports is an old,
saggy sports writer doesn't work in twenty twenty four. He's
(02:36:28):
got to go that could happen, there's barameters. But if
it doesn't. But play by play, it's like people are
listening to the game, whether John Sterling or Emanuel or
John Shackle or tearing your car and the audience. I
would be shocked if a lot of people stop listening
because of John Sterley. Maybe there is maybe they may
this is miss know.
Speaker 2 (02:36:48):
It's not like when you when you got a broadcast
like John Sterling and you're listening to the game. It's
like you're listening to the game with a family member,
and that's something that I'll I'll wait for that family
member to get this stuff together. If he wants to
stay around, I'll allow it. As the guy who who
consumes that product. I'll tell people when come back, what
you did to one of our friends and the Dumble
(02:37:09):
You were pretty evil today. Let me tell you about
my good friends far from evil at Mohawks Chevrolet. Together,

group yesterday, they stayed around. The guy stayed around late
because he waited for me to get done to the
track to show me everything he had to do to
get the sport bar. The white bar up on my
(02:37:31):
Silverado on Scar Show, and dude, they had to do everything.
Speaker 1 (02:37:35):
It was insane. So like, I just appreciate it because
they didn't have to. It could have been a three
or four day job with what they had to do,
but they actually.
Speaker 2 (02:37:42):
Got it done for me in two days because they
didn't want to see me keep cramming myself into a
smaller vehicle than.
Speaker 1 (02:37:47):
I should be driving.
Speaker 2 (02:37:48):

Regions sports fan Fox Sports ninety five to nine and
nine eighty.
Speaker 1 (02:41:35):
One of the few times Goslin I have zero interesting
getting back on the radio. I'm doing bath here right.
So all right, So, so we we're figuring out. We're
here at Vin Slicks inside Rivers Casino Resort. We always
go last year home of Cage Wars, a bunch of shows.
The DJ's in here. It's always fun.
Speaker 2 (02:41:54):
Keep an eye on the website and make sure you're
here for all the great stuff. So you we both
like the three horse in the last race, we both
had it tied into different stuff. It scratched right before,
right before post time.
Speaker 1 (02:42:08):
So what were you trying to tell me? So I
saw that one dollar double and I'm like, oh, I
was making fun of myself like I would only paid
like four bucks, not realizing and maybe it's just a graphic.
I saw it on the television. The double did pay both.
They paid if you had the seven to one ticket,
and it paid you had the seven to three ticket. Okay.
So I went up to the machine like, oh, I
got paid out like fifteen bucks on that. I'm like, oh,
(02:42:28):
that mas's not ending up. I should have got paid
like four, not realizing my ticket had the scratch payoff
and the one off. So I paid a lot more
than I thought, so actually quadruple of what I had thought.
So that's nice, nice little fifteen dollars payback for old
Gazi Bear, and I still got one to play. Very good,
very very good. Remember the money from these is part
(02:42:50):
of the c Force Forergy backroll Challenge. We'll go to
help local charities. I am competing for Make a Wish.
Real men wear pink.
Speaker 3 (02:42:58):
That's what Gaza is up to.
Speaker 1 (02:43:00):
The reason I chose Make a Wish is to kiss
up to Andy Glcher because the Gelcher family actually has
a wing like a haul over at the Make a
Wish office.
Speaker 3 (02:43:08):
It's the Gelcher Wall. The Gelcher family wa has no idea.
Speaker 1 (02:43:11):
That's amazing. Yeah, I mean, I love MAKA Wish, don't
get me wrong, But you know Andy's my boss in
multiple ways now, so I gotta make sure he's happy.
Speaker 2 (02:43:18):
So when I win this, that's where the money's going.
And to make sure Andy' said a present to check
because Mama, the factory is other kids, not stupid ones.
Speaker 1 (02:43:27):
Pretty cool all right, Time for the damn let's start
with this. So Gus has a known hatred of old people.
Do you know what the age is? Is like eighty
ninety sixty? Like, where do you start hating people? If
they're sniffing around those media jobs? That's what it is.
Right around after.
Speaker 3 (02:43:47):
Sister Jean, is that why you hatter?
Speaker 1 (02:43:48):
Because he gets more attention to the media than you do.
Look this, what's this guy? Sixty two? Anything over sixty two?
Anything over sixty two? Is that sixty retirement? What we're
doing an old person impression? All right? Sixty two? Your answer?
All right? Okay, So this morning, we we must have
got up around the same time because I happen to
(02:44:08):
look over and see.
Speaker 24 (02:44:15):
You.
Speaker 1 (02:44:17):
So guys, was everybody over sixty came over to the
table at once after I said I hated over, see
what you did? I hope you're so.
Speaker 2 (02:44:28):
Basically, God sends a message to Boston Dan, congratulations on
your grandmother being one hundred, to which I'm like, I
better go look at Facebook. Something's weird here because I've
met I've met Dan's grandmother a couple of times, and
I feel like I would have known that it was
her birthday. Well, God's failed to notice in the hundred
(02:44:54):
years is amazing life post from our friend Boston Dan
is all the past tense as Dan woke up this
morning to find out his grandmother had passed away, and
God's first message to Dan is, hey, congrats on your
on your grandmother being a hundred Boston Dan, who was
a smart ass of the like ultimate black belt level,
(02:45:16):
wrote back.
Speaker 1 (02:45:17):
Well she was and the and I was nowhere near
guys at this time, but I could see him scrambling
to figure out what he did wrong in my head,
and I felt so good when it left. I'm like, wow,
like this is an amazing post, like she made it
(02:45:38):
to one hundred or grandkids and like, oh no.
Speaker 2 (02:45:44):
Thank you for the wonderful memories I'll get to hold
onto was the final. It's probably the sweetest nicest thing
Dan's ever written. And and I don't obviously You're like, well,
the factor's so insensitive. No, like obviously, like I'm I
you know, rest in peace to to Dan's grandmother, to
to Boston grandma. And I know, like I know Dan
(02:46:06):
well enough to know that as much as it hurt
to lose his grandmother, it made his morning that he
got to destroy God's this morning, like like you, without knowing,
you did the nicest thing you could have done for
Dan because Dan got to go instead of because if
(02:46:26):
we all just went May and you know, like because
again I just I just saw her at his son's
birthday party and she called me fat if I just
gone like, well, because you know, older people get to
say what they want. And if I had just gone,
if we all gone, oh man, we're sorry, Dan, We're sorry. Well,
you know, hey, we'll get beers whenever you get a chance,
let us know. Boom boom.
Speaker 3 (02:46:45):
Dan would have been like, okay, fun, can we talk
about sports?
Speaker 1 (02:46:47):
Can we do something else? But for God's the mistakenly
think it was like her birthday today and not the
day that she passed away. And you made his day.
You made you made, you made Dan day. I can
tell you that back days, I thought I was compliments.
I thought I was connecting with people. I still feel
like I've done well here, but I feel like the
(02:47:10):
intention was good, Like that happened, and I still read
the post and I'm like, what did I miss? I
felt like, so I unfortunately wished her a happy birthday
on the day she left earth. Previously to that, this
past Wednesday, if you missed the show. We were having
so much fun with Tony Alavado, who was scheduled to
Jonas tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (02:47:29):
Oh, you made fun of my dead dad. No, I didn't.
Speaker 1 (02:47:31):
I didn't.
Speaker 3 (02:47:32):
Yeah he did. You were there now you saw it.
Speaker 1 (02:47:35):
I said, Man, I'm laughing so hard my face hurts.
And then Tony said he he was having issues with
his face.
Speaker 3 (02:47:43):
Tony had so he had a health situation.
Speaker 1 (02:47:47):
He was overseas and it resulted in Bell's palsy, so
like one half of his face it droops a little
bit right now. And before the season started, he goes,
I don't want to talk about this on the radio,
so we're We were very respectful of that, and I
was thrilled that he said I'm his go and he
was still able to come and be a part of
the show. We loved having him on the show. So
when he started joking about it yesterday, I got thrilled.
But the fact that he joked.
Speaker 2 (02:48:08):
About it by going by Kauss taking shots at him,
I mean, guys, you were just you're lined up for beating.
Speaker 1 (02:48:15):
I don't know what's happening that one I deserved to
compete for. No, Yeah, yeah, the tone.
Speaker 3 (02:48:22):
The only reason you deserve it for the Tony One
is Tony set it up so perfectly.
Speaker 1 (02:48:25):
It was like I was trapped. This is if you
guys have been texting about this joke for the setup.
Speaker 2 (02:48:29):
No, literally, the only text between the two of us
leading into that was Hey, are you gonna be there
or not?
Speaker 1 (02:48:35):
And he was like hopefully And that was about it.
So oh man. And then widow match dot com, which
we we definitely are gonna launch that. That's that's it.
Speaker 2 (02:48:48):
It's patent Penning by the way, just so we're clear,
Just just s're clear. Pattenpenning on widow match dot com.
So yeah, So Gazz has been on one lately.
Speaker 1 (02:48:55):
So if you if you have any old people in
your life, don't talk to gods about them because but
what's the happy He'll celebrate the day they passed. So
Joe post it on social media and just remind everybody
else I have not made this. At least put an
ip in there for him. Yeah, that's all I need
And I haven't made this mistake, but I know some
people will. If you're someone who doesn't often use emojis,
just remember there's a difference between the crying emoji and
(02:49:18):
the crying laughing emoji. He's the wrong one. No, no, no,
my mom did that earlier this week, mam ma. So
just remind people the crying laughing emoji is one emoji
and then the crying emoji is a completely different emoji.
I have one quick story because I never we're getting
up here. We've only got a few. We have this
race ninus off root for the ninety ten here. We've
not touched on the story about the QR codes on
(02:49:40):
Oklahoma State. Have you seen this story?
Speaker 2 (02:49:43):
Well, so the weird part about it is everybody's crushing
Gundhy right now because he said, tell your agents to
stop calling me.
Speaker 1 (02:49:51):
We're done. There's no transfer portal, there's no an IL money.
Whatever you got is what you got now. It's football time.
Speaker 2 (02:49:56):
And I feel like everybody's taking that as him going
he's never gonna talk on IIL again.
Speaker 3 (02:49:59):
He's I want to do it before the season starts.
Once the season starts, I want to I want to
focus on football.
Speaker 1 (02:50:03):
But this the QR code. Please explain this to everyone.
So if you're watching at home and you're rooting on
let's see Ali Gordon's a player, you know what Ali
Gordon had this big play. You can stop it and say, hey,
I'm gonna donate to Ali Gordon. I'm gonna send him
money the NIL efforts for the Cowboys and five.
Speaker 2 (02:50:19):
I don't think it was directly to that person, but
it goes into the Oklahoma state NIL funds.
Speaker 1 (02:50:24):
That's all right, they can go is one hundred dollars
highest five thousand dollars. How you get there? Yeah, you're
exactly right. The NIL funds is how it's gonna. It's
like the Michigan those of those who stay fund so
you can donate to those who stay fund so anybody
who doesn't transfer away, they get part of that money.
Speaker 2 (02:50:42):
But the QR code on the helmet is just a
it's like all the joke commercials I see with like
how much do you want to tip? Like that's what
it feels like in real life. Like it's it's like,
it's insane to me that we've now reached a level
where there's QR codes on helmets. There's places to debate
whether or not you should even have UH names on
the back of the jerseys, and now we've got QR
(02:51:03):
co's on helmets.
Speaker 1 (02:51:05):
It's a whole I don't think it's gonna be as
successful as for me. Uh, I don't think it's gonna
be successful as people think it's gonna be. I think
it's a really cool idea. The potential of it blowing them.
I think it's worth a shot. But the idea that
somebody is gonna give an athlete because of the hard
(02:51:26):
work they put out there or the effort that they
put out there are a great play. We all know
what this is gonna be. If you're wager down the game.
This is like the tip to the dealer, Like if
you had a big hand here at rivers, Like I'm
gonna toss you a chip. That's what that is. That's Hey,
this guy helped me cover. I'm gonna send that il buddy.
That's it. Like, I don't believe it's gonna blow up
like they help. I could be wrong, if anything. I
(02:51:47):
actually think it'd worked better in female sports than male sports.
I would probably put it above the number. I think
that the helmet's too small to see right. Well, so
he said you won't be able to see it in
the stands. You'll only be able to see it over
the over the broadcast. Spooky Lady at fourth What a joke. No,
(02:52:10):
can't fool me. So I don't know. It's it's intriguing.
Let's just say it's all. It's very intriguing. How's that is?
Speaker 32 (02:52:17):
That?
Speaker 1 (02:52:17):
Is that?
Speaker 3 (02:52:17):
Feel like?
Speaker 1 (02:52:18):
That is good? I can take intriguing. And what a
quick update here before next week is the end of
the C four Bankroll.
Speaker 3 (02:52:25):
Challenge the world as we know it.
Speaker 1 (02:52:27):
This is what the standings look like right now. In
fourth place with ten dollars canterra ooh, thirty six dollars
and fifty cents. Quinn Oh a winning ticket and money
in his pocket today at seventy eight dollars and sixty cents.
Me guys and alone a top first place at one
hundred and nine dollars and seventy five cents. Levac he
(02:52:47):
has a dollar back I did? Okay, good, all right,
one hundred and nine and seventy five. So you have
a thirty one dollar fifteen cent lead as we had
it to the final week next week and this will
be wrapped up. Not the only person who can't lose
whose money on the on what we started with? That
is correct, We started with eighty bucks.
Speaker 2 (02:53:04):
Yeah, so so at least somebody's trying to help charity,
you know, I mean, at least somebody over here is
doing something. And it looks like unless something crazy happens
next week, Cantera is going.
Speaker 1 (02:53:15):
First to worst. Yes, unless he does something wild and
hits like a ten dollars straight exact a ticket or
goes ten dollars straight on a try and says he
can do a bunch of stuff. He could. He could
get wild next week and maybe cash. It's not everybody's
I like to say, is within striking disc That's not true.
Speaker 3 (02:53:33):
I mean, if we're all in the same room together,
we could strike each other.
Speaker 1 (02:53:36):
But next week this time, we will be wrapping up
the C four Challenge and doing a Fantasy football draft
live on the air, at least the early rounds of that,
until Cavino and Ridge say they have to go on
the air.
Speaker 2 (02:53:45):
Do you see there's a there's a new streaming service
in development. It's a deadline reports that there's a streaming
source that is uh, there's a company that's working with
a number of major production companies, including some studios, to
create family friendly shows for its own streaming service. That
company is Chick fil A. What Chick fil A is
(02:54:08):
building their own streaming service. The fast food chain is
reportedly and talks to license and acquire content, and they
hope it will to include both scripted and unscripted content
on their platform, as well as animated content, with an
eye on launching later this year. No words yet on
whether or not they'll broadcast on Sundays. Everybody wanted it.
(02:54:30):
Everybody wanted it. So yeah, Chick fil A not only
not only gonna give you a nice chicken. Same is
you look so upset? The Chick fil A is gonna do.
Speaker 1 (02:54:37):
Thinking about the content that would be on the Chick
fil A channel, Now, it's.
Speaker 3 (02:54:41):
Gonna be like religious and family friendly, I think, is
what it comes out.
Speaker 2 (02:54:44):
This strikes me as one of those ones where like
I've got money and I don't like the way everybody
else is doing this, so I'm gonna do it the
right way.
Speaker 1 (02:54:50):
Yes, look, the technology caught up. We can do what
they can do. Why can't we do money? Let's make money?
Can we make more money doing this?
Speaker 26 (02:54:56):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (02:54:57):
I got chicken is not cheap, my friend, and it's
not cheap. And like my kid lives at Chick fil A,
lives there. The dad they're cob salad I'm like, do
I look like I go a Chick fil A for
a cobb salad.
Speaker 1 (02:55:10):
They're probably gonna set up TVs at Chick fil A,
just play the Chick fil A channels. Be a YouTube
channel on.
Speaker 3 (02:55:16):
Yeah, it'll probably be like Chicken TV or something like that.
Speaker 1 (02:55:20):
Coco Melon of Chicken Sandwiches, Coco Melon, Yeah, cocomelon Blippy.
They all got their channels out there. It's all works now.
In twenty twenty four, Louis what is it A Ronaldo
who made history today. He's the first content creator that
got a million follows or million subscriptions the quickest, more
than anybody, more than mister Beast, more than one of
(02:55:42):
the Kardashians. Ronaldo did that today. I didn't know that. Yeah.
I'm not following around YouTube either, so you are too. Yeah,
I don't know what the content is. I don't think
I have any That's a nice payout there, that fifty
cent trifecta. That's wrong with that ulvac. We are live
at Saratoga tomorrow. It is the Saratoga Show before the
Travers Stakes tomorrow. We will be live there. You and
(02:56:05):
I both considered getting there early. Yeah, that's the Foundation.
Speaker 2 (02:56:09):
I'm all about it. I'm going I said, I had
that interview earlier in the day, and then then I can.
I can head that way over to Saratoga and I'll
come hang out with you the day before.
Speaker 1 (02:56:17):
It's the first time i've done this. Yesterday usually not
there the week of travers I usually run for the
hills and watch it on the NYRA Bets app.
Speaker 3 (02:56:25):
But I'll be there.
Speaker 2 (02:56:26):
We'll hang out, we'll have some fun, maybe a couple
of frosty cold beverages, and we'll give out some wagers
that you should take somebody else's instead of ours.
Speaker 1 (02:56:33):
I'm bouncing back. I cash today, I'm cashing. It's all
about the confidence.
Speaker 3 (02:56:38):
No, it's all about winning, is what It's what it's
all about.
