Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm HD two opening opening Fox Sports nine eighty ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Fact it's love Akin Guz on the voice of the
Capitol Regions sports Fan Fox Sports ninety five and nine eighty.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Hello and welcome to the Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday edition of
Back Guys Line from the GT Toys studio. That's the
toys with a z GT Toys. Very happy to be here.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Didn't get out of control yesterday.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Had a couple of pops, a couple of drinks, eat
some food, celebrate the birthday responsibly.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Dore I say, what is an interesting day for most people?
More depressing? Day after Christmas or day after birthday?
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Bow, probably day after Christmas? Is there so much lead
up to Christmas and then like custody arrangements, things like that,
there's a lot day after Christmas is is a dark
day for a lot of people.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
I was gonna say most people have the dam their
Christmas off and they're still on vacation and they're experimenting
or playing with their new gadgets and toys and same
time with family.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Left home alone suffer and just do nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Some people are in a great mood after their birthday
and they come on to work or school, and they're like, oh, man,
enjoyed my day yesterday. I would say Christmas though as well,
Like there's arguments that getting made for both.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
I used to I used to enjoy my birthday more
when I was a little bit younger. And there's people
doing stuff for it and over the like, Yes, there
was a nice day, a lot of nice people stepped up,
a lot of people said great things. Appreciate all that.
But you know I used to take it off and
go away. I didn't do that this time. So Christmas,
you will not see me. Day after Christmas, I'll be
having fun. That's what I'll do. Maybe we'll see, we'll
see what happens, see how it goes. One thing I
(01:44):
do know, Yankees win. The Yankees win last night, five too,
This is, this is It's a weird night because Aaron
Judge didn't hit a home run. However, he did rob
one from the Nats. And dude, there is there's something
(02:05):
about a dude that big, being athletically gifted the way
he is, and just like seeing it, just like the
whole the whole fields in front of him. He understands
that the amount of times he checked to see where
his feet were this time is opposed to you know,
busting his toe oven thanks a lot for nothing, Dodgers.
(02:27):
It's just it was, he is so special, and I
don't know that everybody is ready to to just accept
that or understand it. And I know you, like nine
Yankee fans are listening right now, going oh God, here
we go, and Yankee fans are like, preach brother, you know.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
But the.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
To not only rob the home run, then to show it, hey,
I got it's my glove, it's the guy, I got
it right here, and then just laser beam frozen rope
to labor Torres on the cutoff and then you get
the out of fronto. So like a Judge double play.
I just think, is I don't I know that the
(03:07):
things show hey Otani does they're different, they're a little
flashi or maybe because we haven't seen the fifty to
fifties or the stuff like that. But man, I don't
think anybody's better at baseball than Aaron Judge.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
We're watching greatness right now. We're watching things speaking about
Judge defensively making plays, being the massive human being that
he is putting up these type of numbers. It is
night in and night out. Yesterday we talked about legacy
and my legacy. I mean, like, how is this you
felt the most Judges being disrespected because it's not getting
the hype and the love of the late nineties, God
of the Bonds, home run Chase, or any of those things.
(03:42):
And he's still putting on performances like that in a night.
But even though Judge has been the star of baseball
and Otani has been and you and I both agree
that almost it should be marketing at this point. They
should be rivals and maybe we'll get that in the
World Series. Well, last night wasn't really supposed to be
about Aaron Judge. Last night was supposed to be about
(04:02):
Juan Soto. Was its supposed to be about want so last.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
I mean it was it really was didn't too much.
You know, he struck out walk oh for four got
a standing ovation, which I felt was here's here's the
problem with the standing ovation, and uh like like the
weak chance of come home, so come home. So to
(04:29):
that standing ovation three, I mean, was it thirty seven
thousand people? There some I think most of our Yankee fans.
I don't think there was. I don't think that.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
I think it was mostly.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Yankee fans like the Nationals. There's one of the worst
selling ballparks in the I think I want to say,
they're like bottom third of the league in ticket sales,
and mind you, they're poopy this year, so it's a
little it's easier.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
To be that.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
But like when their chant for him and give them
the standing ovation, that's what point there.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
I'm so confused about the whole standing ovation thing. Like
the scene in the office where Michael, Scott and Oscar
are sitting in the office together and Oscar is trying
to explain to Michael how a budget surplus works, and
Michael says, explain this to me, like I'm five. Can
someone explain the standing ovation to me? Like I'm five?
(05:22):
Not the concept of a standing ovation.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Everyone stands up and collaps and cheers for you, but
they stand, they come out of.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Their seats and appreciation for your greatness.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
That's not why you wouldn't be familiar with it.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
That's not what I meant. That's what I met. Was
so the idea of giving Soda, who left the Nationals
because he had Scott Boris as his agent and everyone
wanted him to get traded, and he did get traded, right,
said Nico Patris. He got traded, so he got traded
because the Nationals couldn't get the deal that they thought
was good enough for So even though the deal that
(05:55):
they offered Soda according to reports, I believe it was
like thirteen years and four hundred million bucks, it was
like three seventy five fifteen for four forty That even
sounds more ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
But you know, but you know the worst part about it, though,
I'm gonna say something I think is ludicrous. Selloub what
a what a ripoff? They tried to rip the guy off.
That's twenty nine million a year, Like SODA's gonna get
forty and fifty a year easy, Okay.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
So you know what, Sadly, I'm more confused now because
if that's the case that the Nationals perceived because of
how Soda would play in the future and locking into
contract for fifteen years because of the budget and salary
caps and inflation and everything changing, Hey, Soto says, I'm
not gonna tie myself in fifteen years. Was that magic
Johnson on a deal like this when he started off
with the Lakers two where like he signed it like
(06:44):
a lifetime deal and it didn't actually benefit him. I'm
sure there's other athlete examples of this, But so the
State of Ovation, like to what you believe is Washington
thinks they're a contender to get Sodo back when they
didn't get him the first time, when they try to
get him cheaper or they just is this like twenty
twenty four sports, where like, we're just gonna thank every
athlete who's ever put our jersey on, even if they
(07:05):
left us and we stink because they left. What what
was the purpose of the State of Ovation last night?
Speaker 5 (07:10):
Well?
Speaker 3 (07:11):
He was I mean he was great for them and
the beginning of his career, he was great. They won
a lot of games with him there, and yeah, why
not why not try to get him back? Why not try?
You know, like this is the uh John Cusack say
anything moment. They're sitting there with the boom box over
their head, Peter Gabriel in.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Your eyes, the light, the heat, your rights, and.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
They're trying, they're trying to bring him home. The problem
is he's you know, he's got a better home now.
He's in New York with pennstraps. He's got judge hitting
behind him, who's hitting behind him, who's the who's the
bopper in the lineup for the Nationals that's gonna hit
behind him? It's gonna protect him and get him good pitches?
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Who who? Who?
Speaker 3 (07:51):
I mean? They're literally who the cruise?
Speaker 1 (07:53):
The new kid? Maybe all right in prospect.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Okay, but is he gonna want to hit in front
of you so that he gets.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
The better pitches?
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Like this is one of those moments where you know,
the Nationals seem to put themselves out of this, but
fans are gonna try.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Fans are gonna fan, that's what they do. Johnny Quato
a few weeks ago returned to Kansas City Royals. Fans
went nuts. They were so happy, they were going crazy.
Johnny Cquato a big part of the World Series team.
Maybe that's it. Maybe that's the part of it, because
like I'm doing this in August about Juan Soto and
how good he was and Washington and everything else. Maybe
I left out a big part of that. Maybe I
(08:31):
needed Oscar to sit me down and remind me, Hey, guys,
remember you said that whole World Series thing. Johnny Cquato
Soto World Series twenty nineteen. He was on the team.
Maybe that's the answer, Like, hey, you helped our team
win a World Series. We know you left, we know
you wanted to get paid, but we're always gonna have
love for a Wan Soto because he helped us win
(08:51):
a championship. They did this for im back in April.
They're doing it for him again in August. Maybe Washington
fan appreciates it, and I my evil sports talk brain
and immediately went to the money in Scott Bars. You
know you're not He's not coming back. He's not gonna
date you a get It's one of my favorite things
on social media when like a guy who's like trying
to kiss up to a very good looking woman like,
(09:12):
oh you look so beautiful. I love your post. Uh,
silence the haters and a comment under he's like, she's
not gonna get with you. You're not a knight in
shining armor. That dude twenty two on Instagram quit hosting hearts.
That's maybe my evil mindset. I should have just give
it up to so to help to win a World Series.
He's always gonna be loved in DC. It's less about
(09:33):
the contract and more about fans saying you go once
to the championship and let's.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Let's let's point something out to on his behalf. Those
contract details have aged well for him. When you when
it happened, it's dude, that's four hundred and forty million dollars.
I remember saying on the show we were doing at
that point, like or right before, like, that's it's crazy
because of it's under thirty million a year. It's great
(10:00):
eight because it's a huge number. You're guaranteed four hundred
and forty million dollars baseball is fully guaranteed. But you
kind of string me along a little bit because at
that point too. Remember now now he's twenty five. There's
twenty three when that happened. So you got a twenty
three year old superstar that got you the problems land
that you could build a team around for the rest
(10:22):
of it. You're about to sell the team too. All
these things are going on, and you want him to
take under thirty million a year. I bet you if
you dropped that down to you know, eleven for four forty,
he might have said, yes, you know, ten for four forty.
He definitely was said yes, because then you then you're
thirty three with four hundred and forty million.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Dollars in the bank.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
You probably go get another fifty sixty million.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (10:49):
That contract your only contract, that's your only one you're getting.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Life is great right now for one. So it's a
little stressful for Yankee fans because they want to answer
it's the summer of soda. Yes, like the combination of
the love he gets from Washington and that he gets
to plan in his mind. Now, okay, the Washington fans
still love me. From last night, I think I think
we talked about this yesterday, the resigned Soto chance that
he got for the Bleacher Creatures.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Well was it, well, yeah, the the Yeah, they wanted
to resigned Soto. This has come home. Soto, is what
you're hearing here. He did say, quote at the end
of the day. Right now, I'm playing for the Yankees.
This is before the game. I'm happy where I'm at.
We'll see what happens a free agency. Now. After those
the resigned Soto, he was quoted as saying they got
(11:34):
to talk to Cashine. You know, so the number exists.
I wish somebody would just tell us what the number is,
because then we can all be like realistic about it.
We could all like like if it is it is
it twelve six hundred is it?
Speaker 1 (11:49):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (11:49):
What's is it ten? Because as crazy a it is,
as it is, this is the only contracts he's getting
like this because he's gonna be thirty five to thirty
eight whatever when it's done.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
The hardest part to figure out. And it's actually interesting
because Patrick Corbin went through something similar, not to this
level of money, but what mattered to him, and this
is individually, every single person, whether it's professional sports, whether
it's a nine to five, whether it's pursuing a career
a college and athlete, every human being is a little
bit different, accuminative of what's gonna make you happy? What
(12:20):
are you striving for? All this stuff? Like Patrick Corbyn.
The story goes is that Corbyn never ever wanted to
be a Yankee, even though there were stuff.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
That the best man for the Yankees hat during the
during the speech of his wedding and.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
There was talk to the only reason they're talking to
the Yankees getting extra Jian to the Nationals. He got
his money, essentially your kid, and he's stunk ever since.
And he'll be on the mount. I believe tonight he
will be any will he will. He's an underdog again
that conscutive start favorite streak. It was stopping at one,
but it seemed like Corbyn wanted the money. Albert Poole
said love bringing up this story. When Albert Poole signed
with the Angels, the story kills that he never visited
(12:56):
Eddie team. He literally told his agent, I'm going whoever's
paying me the most money. All right. People don't want
that out about Albert Poole Els, but that was the truth.
What makes want Subtle happy? You mention that the summer
subtle like you got one fan base for the Nationalists
has got a lot of love for you. Because of
the World Series Championship. You got another fan base for
the Yankees that have love for you. Now, if you
go to the Mets, both fan bases turn on you.
(13:18):
Maybe you like being cheered and your name shanted and
getting a lot of love. All that could change if
you go to the Mets.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
But that's gonna happen eighty one games of the year
at least, no matter where he goes, you know, But
I think what it's I think what he comes down
to is did you ever feel like you were really
a national Like that's that's where you want to be.
The rest of your life and when everything because everything
changed too. Remember, like I said, it was different, San
Diego felt like a pit stop. That's San Diego thing.
(13:45):
I mean, you had you have so much talent on
that roster when he was there, and there they were
an afterthought. So that's gotta be no good. I think
it's gotta be. It's gotta be. The money's got to
be right. Obviously you're twenty five, you're getting one day.
But he's got to feel like he's home because again
it's ten ten. I would assume it's a ten year,
(14:06):
five hundred million dollar deals where we start talking. I
would assume that's where we that's where the conversation begins. Now,
you know, is there no trade clauses? Is there vested?
Is there any deferred? Is there whatever? There's a million
different things that could happen. But like, is there gonna
be a team like Texas that pops up like they
(14:28):
usually do and go or Saint Louis. I don't know
where to go. And we have all the money in
the world, real quick, if you guys are curious, we'll
do one. We'll give you if it's all about the
most money we got you. If you want to win
with the most money. Well, sure we'll do that too,
wink wink, none just saying them all. But like I think,
I think if if you're looking at a good year
(14:50):
for the Yankees and we and we said this yesterday,
a good year for the Yankees right now should mean
alcs minimum because there's no dominant teams out there. There's
a lot of goods, there's no great The Yankees have
shown greatness. They don't live there. They don't live there.
Your Orioles have flirted with greatness, they don't live there.
Like it's the Astros are are always a thorn in
(15:13):
the Paul whatever. But the Dodgers, Dodgers Yankees are probably
and then there was a window with the Phillies, but
realistic was it? Dodgers Dodgers Yankees are the two team
that have shown some greatness, maybe not consistently, but they've
shown some. Imagine they meet up in the World Series,
Yankees win this thing and then the Yankees go here
five hundred million, How do you leave? You can't know
(15:37):
now what happens if they lose there? Now that's a
whole nother animal. But but that's the that's if you're
a Yankee fan, that's the that's the very book, right,
that's the go win the World Series with him and
then give them five hundred million dollars and won Soto's
in your lineup for ten to twelve years.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Yes, and Yankee fan, there's gonna be something Yankee fans
who heard that price tag, because even I reacted, They
even post Otani people react to are they really gonna
pay him that much money? This is a classic La
Facon guy's answer, Levac to the people who would be
concerned about the New York Yankees spending five hundred million
dollars on want Soto.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
And your money, and your money, there's no salary cap
at your money. I've worked, I've worked for corporations, and
I've worked for friends. Now I treat the money that
comes from my friends very differently than I treat the
money that came from corporations, you know. And again, I
love the Yankees more than anyone. Like I'm I literally
(16:32):
have a pair of pinstripe pants. Somebody gave me. I
think it was Ramona Hernandez's pants, Like I have. I
have pinstripe pants at home because that's what someone called
me once. Rman and then you guys have all kept
it up gods, so I love them. I don't care
what they spend. I don't care because you know what,
you're making plenty of money on hot dogs, and he
(16:54):
has the ticket prices, they're already expensive.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
What's the difference.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
They're not gonna go up. What's gonna happen is well,
they're all gonna go up. They're gonna go up with
or without Sodo. Can you get through where you're at?
Is John Carlos Stanton? Somebody who can go whatever? Is
there something you canna do? The thought of offering that
guy thirty million dollars a year for ten years, forty
(17:18):
million dollars a year for ten years, and then have
him go somewhere else for forty five to fifty that
feels like a mistake. It feels like you're making a
gigantic mistake. There's always been the attempt to pass the baton.
Right when Jeter was captain, the hope was he would
pass the baton to Robinson Cano, who maybe maybe Sheffield,
(17:41):
and then we would get to a judge or whoever
Cano left. Sheffield went off the rails. You you could
pass the torch from judge to possibly Soto. If you
signed Soto a ten year deal or more and now
and now you've got a superstar locked in for another deck,
multiple superstars, Like, don't tell me you can't spend it.
(18:04):
I see what's going on in LA. I like's paying
dudes who ain't never been in the Major League Baseball
three hundred million dollars. I don't know what here he's
gonna get it, but it's there. Some day he's supposed
to get paid that money. You're worth what someone will
pay you, and it ain't no money. If if Halse
Time Runner shows up my house looking for my share
of what they're about to pay Juan Soto, I will
sing a very different tune.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
I think he's overpriced. I think you're all overpriced. But
until then we're good.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
One thing that is uh not overpriced, and that is
my beautiful Chevrolet Silverado. I love what I drive, Scarjo.
She's my black widow Silverado. Do you love what you drive?
Speaker 1 (18:40):

don't do that, said not to do the exact thing
I just said.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Young Joka.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Now, young Joka didn't do much of note with the
Giants who drafted him.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
He did win a Super Bowl with the Chiefs, and
he also was a folly and screw up with the Chiefs.
And some would argue and teking it doesn't work like this,
but scored the game winning touchdown and that Super Bowl
in Philadelphia against Philadelphia. I believe that game was played
not in Philadelphia, somewhere else. But you get the point.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
Yeah, but if you're looking for an offensive weapon, and
we saw what Andy Reid was trying to do because
that wasn't just any Reid did not bring Kadarius Tony
in just as a wide receiver. He brought him in
as a playmaker. Run the option?
Speaker 8 (25:02):
Do this? Do that?
Speaker 3 (25:03):
You know the screen, bubble screen? Do you is there
is this a guy that could help a team that
could put them over the top. That that you're you know,
you're looking at him going they're an offensive weapon or
two away? This is like Jacksonville. Does he come in
and make them great?
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Don't throw anything at me through the window here.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Yeah, I only have heavy things. I don't want to
break the window again. We had new boss.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
I gotta because you've heard me mention this wide receiver's
name too much, and I'm sure at this point it
drives even saying, you know what Kadarius Tony is, he
is if Josh Gordon didn't smoke pot and wasn't as talented.
So so here's what even by the Josh Gordon thinking like,
Josh Gordon got a ton of chances in the NFL
because of that one season, historically great season, but teams
(25:51):
kept giving Josh Gordon a chance over and over and
over again that we can't do.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
That personally for some reason. No, no, no, no, no,
you take kind of somewhere for weed once or something
like are you did you the pot? You've never been welcome,
welcome back somewhere. You will never be a hobot statesman
again because of your sticky.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Icky addiction Somewhere Johnny Manziel fans are like, wait a second, guys,
do you think this has something to do with Johnny football?
Speaker 8 (26:17):
No?
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Well yeah, why do you live Johnny football so much
and hate Josh Gordon so much? Is it like coke
versus weed?
Speaker 1 (26:23):
It's not a hate.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Is the kind of drug you like? You grew up
on Miamivice not into this. Drugs are bad.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Okay, Sticky Icky, I'm a big pot smoker. But Josh
Gornett was so talented and everyone gave him chance after chance.
He never was anywhere close to being the same player
after that one good season in Cleveland. He wasn't. But
people just said, like, hey, when he works out and
what he does on the field and what we are
looking for, why would we not run this back with
(26:52):
Josh Gornett? Could Darius Tony's the same guy without the production.
I go way back to the draft, way back to
that NFL draft with the Giants. Remember what really was
going on there? Now almost every side is claiming to
this is true, which is odd to happen. Post draft.
Urban Meyer, from that small window when he coached the
Jangs wanted to trade everything for Kadarius Tony. He was
(27:15):
ready to give up every and everyone's like, what what wait?
You want Travis Etn to play wide receiver and you
want to trade for Caderius Okay, this is weird. And
then the Giants were going to get Devondi Smith. It
was done, they wanted him, it was all set and done,
and then all of a sudden, the Eagles trade up
they're scrambling. Oh my gosh, why would you do an
intervisional trade? Why are the Cowboys trying to screw us?
(27:37):
This is how was going to the Eagles, and they
scrambled and drafted Tony and they thought they'd be fine.
He wasn't good. He's just super talented. Whether he's got
a crazy personality, whether it doesn't get along with his teammates,
whether that being that physically gifted is not the only
thing you can get away with in the NFL. And
that's the answer I'm going to lean on. We've seen
a lot of physically gifted people go to the NFL.
You got to do a lot more when we get there.
(27:59):
So I don't think as a target for other teams.
I don't even know who he'd match with at this point,
but the Giants really want to try it again. I
feel like if they bring in Tony, they're like, our
receiver room stinks.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
See here here's the thing like I think about I
think about teams that are a little more, a little
more forward thinking offensively, you know what I mean? Like,
because that's what Andy Reid again, Remember Andy Reid, there
wasn't a ton of just line up Canarius Tony let
him run down the field or run a you know,
a five yard in stuff like that. It was Yeah,
(28:30):
sure he had some passing routes out there, but he
usually lined up on the wrong side of the line
of scrimmage. This is a guy who is at He
could be like a Percy Harvin type. How's that? I
think he could be something athletically that you just don't
you're not used to seeing.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Perfect comparison. Totally agree with you about Percy Harvin. That
was the name that kept popping in my mind was
Percy Harvin because I think both ways we described it.
He is an offensive weapon. He can be a running back,
he can be a wide receiver. The Urban Meyer connection.
That makes sense, like, oh he wanted he wanted Kadarius
Tony because he had a Kadarius Tony in Percy Harvin.
As much as people want to give T ball the love,
(29:07):
even in the even in the Swamp Kings documentary, Oh yeah,
we had Percy Harvin. Oh yeah, he was the number
one player in the country.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
But Percy Harvin is a great example of Caadarius to
Monny because his greatest Percy Harvin was in high school
as grat as he was in college. How would we
call his NFL career disappointing? Disappointing? Yep, underachieved, underwhelming, couldn't
find the right role, never scored more than ten touchdowns
in a season.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Did he win the fight with Golden Tate or lose
the fight with gold I'm.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Gonna say Golden Tate won the fight because he lasted
longer in the NFL. Oh, that's that doesn't Is that
how it works?
Speaker 8 (29:41):
No?
Speaker 1 (29:41):
No, not at all?
Speaker 3 (29:42):
All right?
Speaker 8 (29:44):
What?
Speaker 1 (29:46):
How weird?
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Is it too that Juju Smith Schuster gets re signed,
which gives them the ability to kick out?
Speaker 1 (29:53):
That is odd. Percy Harvin played in twenty three games
total his final four seasons in the NFL. He played
in thirty three games his final five season. How was he?
I mean really, only three seasons in the NFL and
he was so gifted come out of this? Is is
a perfect example. Now, Kadarius Tony, what can he do?
Speaker 11 (30:12):
Like?
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Who's gonna inactive for a bunch of postseason games? Hartman
was the one who scored the touchdown. They drafted worthy
if it's if it's not the Giants Slovak, I don't
know who else wants to try it. Well, all right,
let me ask you about this with the Giants. We now,
Jordan roun On has reported that.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
The Giants have cut Alan Robinson the second and Isaiah Hodgins,
so two wide receivers. They've caught him to make their
fifty three man roster. THEO say they're gonna carry three
quarterbacks those two out of there? Do you do you
consider Kadarius Tony a little the return of young Joka.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Gosh, he's better than those guys, but he's.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Better well Alan Robinson, Now, Alan Robinson had moments where
he was a legit.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Ala Robinson's You're right, Alan Robinson's career like those moments
of best Alan Robinson versus best Cadarius Tony. Alan Robinson
was better. Yes, how about Martavius Bryant. There's an extremely
talented player that just couldn't get his head right. Wasn't
he gone for like five years? Wasn't he like out
of the league for effort that he just came back?
Speaker 3 (31:16):
Uh? No, that he the Raiders traded for him.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
I could have swore Martavius Bryant was retired and they
just pulled him off the street. A couple of years ago,
he has he still been playing. I didn't really. Oh yeah,
it's he been up to well, not playing well, but
I mean.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Playing. Yeah. Oh no, I know you're you're I'm sorry,
you were right.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
He is the same one, right.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
He has not made a roster since since Oakland.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Okay, okay, yeah, this is happening a lot that the
guys he's in troubled. Yeah, yeah, this is happening a
lot now though hard.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
To remember everything.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Guys with the same names. Uh, here's a great example.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
How many guys named.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Jordan Matthews. I kind of sort of the other Martavious.
Yeah really?
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Oh all right?
Speaker 1 (32:07):
Remember Jordan Matthews remember him? Yeah, for Vanderbilt, played for
the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
You know I loved him.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
You remember he's back in the league as a tight end. Now,
it's the same Jordan Matthews. Michael Robinson dis this a
while ago. He was like a wide receiver at Penn State.
Then he became a full back. It's the same Martavious. Brian,
So I would say no, just to I believe the
question you asked. I don't know another Martavious, and I
don't think he's very good.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
So right now, of the names I've told you there
are wide receivers who are on the market. I think
I've sold young Uncle Aarry Stony. I think Young Joke
is the best option out there all the wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Yes, all of the ones you have told me so far,
that is the best one.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
I'm just there's something about that dude that I just
I feel. I think I've become, somehow, some way a
Dave gettleman apologist.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
I think I just liked him. I liked him as
a person, Like if that was my grandpa, I'd be thrilled.
You know, I'm not Jewish anyway, but I could be
if if gett them would adopt me as his grandson.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
I just said hog Molly's And.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
I just I feel that. I feel like he gets
a really terrible rep probably for good reasons, but like
I just I wanted one of his things to work
his his.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Fever.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Grab at Kadarius Tony because Smith was gone, the taking
Saquon Barkley so early, when no one else was even
looking at running backs that fast.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Then early, I've got a wilder one here. It's gonna
blow you away, and it's I guess this is defeating
the purpose of your question. Though he may not be
on the team in twenty twenty four for the Giants
and Bills, but he might be on the team in
twenty twenty five. This is I think you're gonna be
shocked about the name. I' about to drop on you
because this has been a social media rumor today and
(33:57):
one of our friends who listened to the show a
lot is probably to be screaming from a certain spot
here in the Capitol region. There are rumors going on
that a former guest on this show, Cole Burgess, made
the fifty three man roster for the Bengals. Hey you go,
drafted Division three kid from Greenwich, New York, from Cortland State.
(34:18):
There are rumors out there. Then he starts lighting up
the back. I assume Cordy just heard that from the
farm or somebody else. I'm gonna the rumors that Cole
made the team. According to Instagram, he might play for
the Giants and Jets if he doesn't make the Bengals
in twenty five or gets tradered. What do you make
of the D three kid potentially making the team.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
I mean he's got obviously, he's got all the skills
you could need. He you know, he you bring him
up for the practice squad a year ago. Now you
get him on the fifty three man. Can he can
he grow into it? Can he become a contributor and
to the point where you know, one day he's actually
getting you know, numbers on a roster spot. It's happened before.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
It doesn't matter that the offensive coordinator, Dan Pitcher also
is a Division three guy from Courtland's state. And one
of the reasons it doesn't matter, not matter though, Like, yeah,
I guess that's true.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
I mean, because he's like, I guarantee you this is
a part where he said, there's like I've seen people
at D three who can play in the NFL and
they don't get a chance because people don't believe in
D three. I believe in D three. So he's a
little more open minded to it.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
If there's somebody in your corner at the job that
you work for and they're your biggest supporter, that's a
huge factor. I you know, I think we both kind
of found the same spot there where it's like that's great,
but they're not gonna cut a kid from LSU or
Alabama or Florida State Because you both went to Cortland
State Colebert has got to put the time in. He's
got to show off. He posted on Instagram that he
(35:37):
made the fifty three. That is wild to think about that. Now,
maybe we're wrong the vac Maybe the city of Greenwich,
New York is not hearing the same things we are.
There's only one person we can go to on the
elevation ten thousand phone lines to offer takes about Greenwich sports.
That is the one and only Corey and green Which Hello, Corey, Hi, guys,
(35:58):
I got Corey. What are your sources telling you about
former guests on this show, The Pride of Greenwich? After you?
Obviously Colbert's did he make the fifty three man roster?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
All?
Speaker 12 (36:09):
I heard that he's had a very good preseason and
offseason training camp and the coaches. I've heard from the
coach that he has learned all the play book from
all positions of the wide receiver so he can get
(36:30):
play you know, you could do whatever and special teams.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
All right, I don't know what else you have to
say that basically confirms it. Corey from Greenwich said, maybe
possibly he might be on the team.
Speaker 12 (36:44):
I think so, or if he does get cut, I
think a team will grab him.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
You know what, that's actually probably the bigger conflict to cool,
like the special teams thing of it, the fact that
he got the show off in the preseason and these
weird kickoff roles, Like someone's gonna figure it out if
you can play special teams man, like we just uself,
Cadarius Ton. I know he's a returner in Martavius Bryant
cover kick and you're cheap. I hope he made it.
I'm here again. I want to say, like, it's definite,
(37:08):
it's no doubt, he posted on Instagram. God is good.
I'll take it. He could be on the practice squad,
which is still an incredible accomplishment. Corey. I hope, for
your sake you get a seventeen Coleberd just jersey and
you're wearing it to the next event.
Speaker 5 (37:22):
Right.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
No, not, you're no, No, your last name is not on.
It's not gonna say no, it's gonna say Cole's last
name on the jersey.
Speaker 13 (37:29):
Not you.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Yeah for you. You got him, Corey, You got him.
Speaker 12 (37:34):
Gosh, I I I believe in him. You know all
that hard work. Hey, I heard, I heard are he
was a good running back last year. For Greenwich and
he is a linebacker at Buffalo University.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
He's getting he's getting he's getting drafted to.
Speaker 12 (37:55):
He didn't get drafted, No, but he's at he's at
College of Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
Oh okay, I didn't know exactly what you said. That's sorry.
Speaker 12 (38:03):
That division one.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
Yes, ye, So there's hope. Very good.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
All right, you've been pulling for so congrat score. I
feel like you've achieved your NFL dream now, because Cole
Berges says.
Speaker 12 (38:18):
Yeah, I want I want to say that too much.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
The next time we see you, we want to see
you wearing a Bengal jersey and you crossed off Cole's
last name and put Corey and Greenwich on the back.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
That's what we want.
Speaker 12 (38:29):
Hey, guys, got what Corey?
Speaker 1 (38:31):
Yes?
Speaker 10 (38:32):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (38:35):
Future? The college this year's college football? The NFL teams
that looking for quarterbacks. What are a couple or few
of the quarterbacks to look out for this college football season?
Speaker 1 (38:49):
Shador Sanders, Quinn Viewers, Carson Beck, Dylan Gabriel, Dylan Gabriel,
those are quick four. Those would be my quick four
for you. Jackson Dart, Kyle Acord, Kyle McCord. Syracuse undefeated season.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
And then God sturns off the PlayStation he doesn't own yet.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Coy, I'm hanging up on you. Thank you. I'm not
hanging up till you compliment me. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
You're insult I.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
Don't know what else you could say. Corey and Greenwich.
He heard the word greenwich and the phone lit up.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
And he.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Was like, waiting, Yeah, that is that is very very cool. Actually,
you did you you said something. We'll do this coming
up because we got it. We're up against it right now.
You said something yesterday that kind of caught me off guard,
and I'm wondering if you misspoke, because if you misspoke,
you may have called something to happen to the NFL overnight.
(39:50):
If you didn't, I'm still caught off guard. That'll be
coming up. But don't you want to tell me about
how I can make some some key show the football season?

Yesterday, we were talking about the Dallas Cowboys and the
fact that you know the gay Ceede Lamb, the bag
he's living. Well, everything's there. Who's their running back? Because
Zeke Elliott's seven hundred years old, you have the carbon
datum to find out his actual age. You said Adrian
Peterson what they call Adrian Peterson. Did you mean Adrian
(45:13):
Peterson or do you mean the other Vikings running back,
Dalvin Cook. Because when you said Adrian Peterson, I was like,
Adrian Peterson is maybe the one running back older than Zeke.
He's not, but a Dalvin Cook makes a lot of
sense for a workout.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
I did mean Adrian Peterson. Well, hey, hang on here,
here's why I mentioned Adrian Peterson because I still remember
we're drinking during the show. No no, no, I remember.
Way was six years ago when Jordan Rona and I
got into it back and forth about like, you know, Adrian.
Speaker 3 (45:43):
Peter section in the bathroom. That's not so different.
Speaker 1 (45:47):
About Adrian Peterson potentially being an option for the Giants,
and he laughed me off. It's Adrian Peterson, Come on,
gods what. Then he went on to play for the
Saints and the Cardinals, and I believe he had a
double digit touchdown season. And when Sakuon Barkley got injured
a few times, Adrian Peterson was out producing the backups
and I was like, Adrian Peterson's a freak. Now to
the Texas part of it, Adrian Peterson was the number
(46:07):
one high school recruit in the country from Texas. Yeah,
in like fifties and played at Oklahoma. And Adrian Peterson
has set his dream was to play for the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
Uh, he's thirty nine.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
Give him a shot. Toss it out there. Here's it
with Dalvin Cook. I did see that report as well
about Dalvin Cook. Whoever is Dalvin Cook's agent? Nice job
on the workout video because he looks shredded peace, Oh
my gosh, he looks like he's bigger and better than
ever before. Whoever put that. If Dalvin Cook actually signs
with the Cowboys, give that person who made that video
(46:39):
a bonus. Here's the problem with Dalvin Cook. First of all,
if they wanted Dalvin Cook, they already would have signed him.
There's something to the effect of, hey man, it's August,
it's soon to be September. If we thought you're gonna
be a fit for this team, we probably already would
have had you on the roster. What would have been
the point to wait? Second thing is Dalvin Cook was
on the street last year for the Jets, and there's
(47:01):
a bunch of reasons why it didn't work. Maybe there
was too many defenses pushing in the box. Maybe it's
Zach Wilson, maybe Breese Hall. It was bad last year.
You can't see this right now. But just like our
promotions we did at iHeart, now we have rules. We
have to raise our hands. Lavak's hand is up. Yes, Levac,
go right ahead. Something happened yesterday that would have changed everything.
Though you found out exactly how much you were paying.
(47:23):
Ceedee Lamb, you know what money you have available. So
now you could call Dalvin Cook and say, if you
want to come here, it's for three million dollars, chance
to make six This is gonna sound mean. I would
say the bare minimum is that Dalvin Cook should make
because if he doesn't take the minimum, he won't go
anywhere else.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
It's also good. But now you can say that to him, like, hey,
we've got everything else is locked up, it's in place,
Dak's gonna play this year. Everything's fine. Do you want
to be part of the team. Do you want to win?
Here's seven hundred thousand dollars or a million or whatever
it is.
Speaker 1 (47:58):
It's the run back position in the NFL almost feels
like a head coach versus an assistant coach discussion. Where
do we hire somebody who's been a head coach before
recently who wasn't as successful as they were in the past,
or do we give an assistant coach an opportunity who
hasn't been a head coach before, but we have to
prove to see what they can do. A lot of
job I feel like doing a lot of job comparisons,
but that's kind of been the theme of this first hour.
(48:20):
A lot of jobs who are hiring never give the
person a management or a leadership position because they haven't
done it, because they don't have the experience, and don't
give them that job because they don't want to be
the first to find out if it works or it doesn't.
And that's the cowboy backfield post Zeke Elliott. And I
say post because everyone after Zeke Elliott. Zeke Elliot has
proven he could be a productive back, and even in
the final season with Dallas, he may not have been
worth his contract. Statistically, he actually was not terrible for Dallas.
(48:44):
He actually wasn't terrible for the Patriots in comparison to
what other running backs would post last season. But it's
not good. Like I have no faith in anything after
Zeke Elliott. And even when Tony Pollard was supposed to
be the guy, I know, there's Tony Pollard defenders now Leva.
Oh h, Tony Poler had the quote, I had a
torn meniscus till Week seven.
Speaker 5 (49:04):
You did.
Speaker 1 (49:05):
Now you're telling us a year later that you had
a torn knee for two months and that's why you stunk.
Speaker 3 (49:11):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (49:12):
I would have told you get surgery, is what I
would have told Tony Pollard because you stunk. You probably
would have got paid at some point. So I don't
believe anything. Uh. Would I signed Dalvin Cook. I love
Dalvin Cook. I'm a fan of Dalvin Cook. I watched
him play against Syracuse and shockingly he tore Syracuse up.
Speaker 9 (49:29):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
I would not sign him. No, not right now. I
would wait till an injury happens. I would say I'm.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
Mesmerized by someone who would take forty year old Adrian
Peterson but not even consider Dalvin Cook.
Speaker 1 (49:45):
Well, hang on, I just kicked the tires on Peterson.
I didn't sing.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
Those tires are flat, dude, those tires are flat.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
Just bring them in for a workout. I don't know,
sign them immediately, just.
Speaker 3 (49:55):
They're tread baron there is that's not if you're gonna
if you're gonna take a five a former Minnesota running
back right now, Dalvin Cook gets the job over Adrian Peterson,
who hasn't played since twenty one.
Speaker 1 (50:09):
It looked good in that last season.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
He's always in shape. Yeah, that's that's great, that's fantastic.
I know a lot of people. I go over here
to the gym and I see a lot of people
were in shape and they can't play football at a
pro level. Okay, that's not how it gonna work. And
by the way, do you know who looks like Adrian
Peterson in it's like peak otomum condition. Wo Dalvin Cook?
(50:33):
Right now? Do you see the workout video you just
talked about, Yeah, he looks pretty good. He's at least
in my kid, he'll get in for the workout.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
I will also make the correction. I did think Adrian
Peterson's final season in the NFL was that COVID season
with the Lions where he played in every game and
ran for seven touchdowns in over six hundred yards. That's
pretty good. Did forget he played for the Titans in
Seahawks in twenty one? Yeah, yes, that's not as good.
Speaker 3 (50:56):
Yeah. I think a lot of people forgot that happened.
Just this picture with show hey, hey, I play for
this team. No you don't. You're old, you get nothing
and like it.
Speaker 1 (51:05):
But I you hear, like how weird?
Speaker 3 (51:08):
It sounds right when you say, you know, hey, we
should give that guy who's going to be forty during
the season a chance to run the football. But I'm
not interested in that guy who's ten years younger. He's
twenty nine.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
He had two thousand yard seasons almost post Vikings. He
had one for twenty eighteen in Washington, almost had another
and twenty nineteen. I saw Dalvin Cook last year. He
did not get any yards last year or the season
previous to that.
Speaker 3 (51:38):
Interesting.
Speaker 1 (51:40):
I what Dalvin Cook? I don't think either one is
gonna be signed by the Cowboys or leavak hear me
out both?
Speaker 3 (51:48):
Is Adrian Peterson even like talking to teams, he still.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
Says he wants to play. He's like, is this like
a Larry Fitzgerald situation? This is like Larry Fitzgerald where
it's like, I'm not retired, but I would like if
you pick me up, I'll play. T O is sort
of like this. I'm never gonna retire. I already fought
Le'Veon Bell remember that.
Speaker 3 (52:09):
Yeah, yep, I.
Speaker 1 (52:13):
Would say this, though I'll give you credit for this.
Dalvin Cook is more likely to sign. Nobody can see
that point.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
Yeah, well yeah, I wouldn't think you'd need to. But
just so that people know that I'm I'm doing a
radio show with someone who's at least aware of reality,
maybe not like lives by it, but aware of his existence.
Is in there.
Speaker 1 (52:36):
Don't forget Next Fridy, the return of Fantasy Versus Reality,
one of our favorite show segments is back next Friday,
Levac sponsored by It's a lot of pressure. We'll tell
you who.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
There's no sponsor yet. That's all right. Well here you go, everyone,
here's your chance jump on board. Get on board the
fantasy versus reality train. Chooo, that's good radio right there.
I thought this was crazy. Did you see Sid Vicious
passed away? I did see that, the pro wrestler sixty
(53:08):
three years old.
Speaker 4 (53:10):
I was.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
I was talking to Benny Ice. He was like, I
don't know why they had his son come out when
I'm like, his kid was like famous from Big Brother
Frank and there.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
I didn't realize there was a gunner. A gunner you, yeah,
there's two of them.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
It's a monster, dude. I'm shocked that he was sick.
He was always like cut out of stone.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
He's one of those people that as a kid, you
don't realize how big he is because everyone's big when
you're a kid, and then you start seeing the highlights,
like when they were showing some of the highlights of
him standing toe to toe with the Undertaker and being
bigger than Haul Cogan. He might have been a legit
six eight six ' nine.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
If he knew how to how to speak, and like,
I'm not saying like he couldn't talk, but I got
on the microphone to whole another animal. That's why Paul
Hayman's rich is he speaks four your tribal chief. I'm sorry.
Like he could have been. He could have been the
next al Cloagan. He was that big. And if the video,
the video that he's popping up is the one, I
don't know who he's He jumps off todder pe in front,
(54:04):
kicks somebody and breaks his other thing and it's just
flopping around like a fish out of water. Oh it's like, dude,
don't put that one away. People are evil on the interwebs.
That's all there is to it.
Speaker 1 (54:16):
That was pretty quick by the WB though, because that
report came out of like six or seven yesterday, a
little bit after we got off the air, at least
for people to confirm extend it was. Son Gunnard gone
to social media with it. They had the package ready
to go, like they were ready to watch wrestle last night. Yeah,
they had this. They had the Psycho sid stuff ready
to go last night, said Vicious.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
Sad Day.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
He was like you said he was.
Speaker 3 (54:37):
He was an absolute, absolute beast, just a large, large human.
He's I mean, by Gaz's token, he probably could still
be a running back for Dallas.
Speaker 6 (54:47):
No.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
I think he still thinks he could get in there,
make that happen Yeah, what do you think.
Speaker 1 (54:53):
I'm now thinking about what it would be like to
try to tackle Psycho sid with a football in his
hands in his prime six For them, he would be gronk.
Speaker 3 (55:01):
The only thing that would save you is he would
hit you because he really wasn't all there because he's
the one. Is he the one that was stabbed by
or he stabbed arn Anderson with scissors? I know one
of them.
Speaker 1 (55:13):
I think I said alleged crime, but it may have happened.
Thinking back to that, there's a lot of evidence that there.
Speaker 3 (55:18):
It was him who caught the scors got stabbed with
the scissors, right, I believe? So all right, come on,
it's all over the wrestling news. Come on now, that's
the fun stuff. Is the real stuff, dark side of
the ring? Yeah, I'll take what a psycho said. That's
actually a great idea. All right, listen, we get your
top four or four coming up, guys, is not backed
off Adrian Peterson playing in the NFL this year. That
(55:39):
just shows me why he thinks Baker Mayfield to good quarterback.
It is, well that guy's It's Fox Sports Radio
Speaker 6 (55:47):
Starting off with
