Speaker 1 (00:00):
W Ox, Troy wgy, FMHD two, Obning W two forty opening,
Fox Sports nine eighty nine.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Fact, it's time for the Top four four with Levac
and Guyz Kids.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I don't know why came out. Uh.
Speaker 4 (00:18):
Time for the four biggest stories in the world of sports.
Top four and four brought to you. I have Mohawk
Hondor where they always go on their way to please
you guys.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
What's the fourth biggest story up? In September, we have
two events for golf events coming up. I can't wait
for those. We got a Friday golf event. We had
a Thursday golf event. I might add that to our
website just so people can come out and hear Lovak
scream out four at these poor golfers coming up. Just
watch the moll dive into their cars. Ah, we go.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
When we do it, we should have like like a
slingshot with the golf and shoot it up in the
air and see what happened.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
One of the events has requested that we go right
next to the hole. No, because they're gonna try and
hit us. It's our friends at the hideaway coming home.
Oh yeah, that makes sense. No, Chad No, I talked
the sponsor today. They want us to right there. Who's
the sponsor, Ronald McDonald house that's coming up in one
of the two Our guy Dan DeMarco. If he's listening,
(01:08):
shout out to him. He's a nice guy.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
He'll be joining something like a real nice guy trying
to just kill the golf balls.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
He really wanted that when we locked this in, I
really want you guys on the court. You must listen
to the show. He knew the four was coming, all right,
four biggest stories of the world of sports. U l
back and yesterday's five o'clock hour. You brought this up
to me and you and I went back and forth
about whether or not I was insane about Adrian Peterson
joining the Dallas Cowboys. I know are just let me
bring him in for a workout. What's kind of shapes
(01:33):
in Dalvin bringing grandpa? He's fine. Dalvin Cook looked awesome
on his workout video. Didn't look awesome for the Jets
last season, but nonetheless, Dalvin Cook now a Dallas Cowboy.
He's been signed to the team's practice squad. He visited
the team on Tuesday. Now officially a part of that
backfield that balls. Zeke Elliott and Deuce Swawn. Now Dalvin Cook. Wow,
(01:56):
the Cowboys backfield is that bad? But Dalvin Cook, I believe,
the all timely rusher in the history of Florida State football.
What a compliment should have been a Tampa Bay buccaneer.
Remember the Buccaneers were poised to take it before Minnesota
traded up in the second round to get Dalvin Cook.
He really had a nice NFL career, impactful player for
the Dallas Cowboys. In twenty twenty four, question Mark, that's
(02:17):
how I'll do it, Levec, what do you think? Probably
rephrased the question as I asked that like a AI robot.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
There, I get what you're saying. I was wrestling with
this because he was not healthy at all last year.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Is he healthy now?
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Like?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Is he finally?
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Because like people are saying, he lost a step. Have
you ever have you ever run with your arminus sling?
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Of course it changes the way you run.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
So if his shoulder was still jacked up, he wouldn't
have been running very well. So maybe his shoulders finally healed.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
I would I would disagree on that because this was
the concern. In twenty twenty three, he had that torn
labrum surgery and with that injury dislocated, how are we
gonna do? We broke down the signs of this on
yesterday's show. The only thing I know about the human bod,
He's always gonna take a hit, He's always gonna feel it.
He didn't get a lot of hits on it last
year because he can get a lot of touches for
the Jets last season. I hope he's good. I like
(03:09):
Dalphin Cook. I want him to do well. I don't
feel like the impact for him is anywhere close to
what it's gonna be like he had for Minnesota. How
about this stat usually I like guessing. I want you
to see if he can gets this one. Over the
last five years, only three running backs have gained more
yards over the last five years in the NFL rushing yards.
(03:29):
Rushing yards okay than Delphin Cook. Can you name the three?
Three running Derek Henry Boom, Easy, you got that one?
Two more? I think one you're gonna get Christian McCaffrey.
I would have guessed McCaffrey. He's not on the list.
Take one. Barklay also another fantastic guess. Not a list
before you guess your final one one you've been a
(03:50):
fan of, and one you're a fan of in twenty
twenty four in fantasy. Oh so Josh Jacobs Boom, and
then one I'm a fan of you and I are
both a fan of him in fantasy. If we can
get him Aaron Jones, Dan B. Bramper correct answer was
Nick Chubb. Unless you've changed your stance after he's going
(04:10):
to the publist, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
no no. I still want him.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
I just don't want him as early as I wanted
him before. That's the thing about Nick Chubb. He's a monster,
and you pay no mind to him. You just pay
no line to him. If he's healthy for let's let's say, okay,
so he's got to sit for right, so you're down
a thirteen potential regular season games. Let's say he's on
(04:34):
a pitch count for the first two of those, So fine,
he's gonna be a monster for the rest of the year.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Twelve games of Nick Chubb is probably nine wins. If
Nick Chubb was healthy Week one and Cleveland had a
healthy Watson, I'll still stick by they had a realistic
chance and still do still do for a Super Bowl bid.
They're good. They're a playoff team last season with a
bunch of injuries. We'll move on to story number three,
a story I definitely want to dive deeper into here
and I followed this out for involves the news coming
(05:02):
out of Pittsburgh today that Mike Tomlin has named the
team starting quarterback. That starting quarterback is Russell Wilson. Russell
Wilson gets the job over Justin Fields, Lavac. I feel
like there's actually a New York connection to the story.
I feel like Mike Tomlin might have fooled a lot
of people. There's a lot of meat on this bone
involving the Steelers. Will definitely dime keeper into. But first
(05:22):
reaction hearing that Russell Wilson, we'll get the start over
Justin Fields. What is your and sent a reaction to
that that Justin Fields is now officially a bust. Oh well,
because look here here's the deal.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
You go by your logic, right, how if you're paying
a guy, the guy you're paying more should be your starter.
They're barely paying Russell Wilson at all. He's that minimum
because the money's coming from Denver. The Russell Wilson played
okay and then, but okay, Justin Fields is exciting. He's
(05:57):
got He's got all the gifts you could want a pletically,
but it doesn't like he could raid a defense to
save his life.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Russell Wilson is probably the right call at least to
start the year.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
But I mean it, it's gotta make you wonder, like
what is Justin Fields?
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I feel like there was a reason they made this
move months ago to bring him in, maybe just to
push wheels sitting camp. There's a lot to that. I'm
gonna save a lot of my takes coming up for
fifteen minutes. I do want toss his stat I got
a lot of stats here in the top four to
four John Elway, Matthew Stafford, Matt Ryan, Drew Bletsoe, Warren Moon,
(06:35):
Peyton Manning. So that is six quarterbacks. Those are the
only six quarterbacks above Russell Wilson for most consecutive Week
one NFL opening starts. Tom Brady's not on the list
of emby towards ACL that one season, so that bumped
him off. He's not on there. But those are the
six again, Lway, Stafford, Ryan, Bletsoe, Moon Manning consecutive Week
(06:58):
one start So the first week of the season. Correct, Yeah,
because that surprise. That's actually a pretty surprise. And listen
to me. Stafford, by the way, went away from tyn
LA for the record.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
I mean, you know, the best abilities availability, and Russe
Wilson was always available.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
I just I wonder how much of Russell.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
Wilson's issues on the field are mental and how much
are physical because everybody slows down. He was never he
was never the most gifted. He was gifted enough, he
could slide. He did a lot of things right in
that situation. But he just feels like ever since Sean
Payne said stopped trying to like be a hero and
just be a quarterback kind of thing or whatever it was.
I'm paraphrasing, I'm just wondering, like, what are his priorities
(07:38):
because it doesn't feel like football at the top of
that list.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
I want to answer that later on. There's so much
good stuff here for twenty four twenty. We're doing this
out of the top four to four. You want to
talk more sports, ah, we'll talk New York baseball here
because you asked this question in hour number one. If
you missed Apple Spotify, the iHeart app, the impact of
these two games went nuts involving these New York teams.
Will lead off here with the Mets and story number two.
The Mets continue their series at the airs on the
Diamondbacks continue out in the desert. Nine to forty. First
(08:04):
pitch Severino on the mound. Roderiguez a GUARDA Rodriguez on
the mound for the Snakes, Diamondbacks, Mets ninety back. Will
go back to your question the impact of the series
so far for the Mets and Dimacks. Both of us
thought going into this series, and I did this in
the top four to four, how important it would be
for the Mets, even more so than the Diamondbacks. Now
(08:24):
deeper into the series, as our opinions changed, it all
about the impact and what it could mean for the
postseason potential bid for both of these teams.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
It feels like the Padres and the Braves are just
too good right now.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Let the Braves one eight at the last ten.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
Yeah, but you did just you took the Diamondbacks out
behind the woodshed. I mean, that's that's got to mean something,
So maybe maybe they can. I I don't know, I
don't I have never been more confused by a baseball
team I think than I am the version of the
(09:00):
Mets where they're done, sticka fork and the oh, look
here they come.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
They're gonna get a wild card. No, they're done. No,
they're here, They're there.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
They're there like they won a game, and I'm still
questioning whether or not they can get the wildcard.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Usually, when you agree on something, when you and I
do this, we agree yes or no. This team's good,
this seem's not good. This player's gonna do this, he's good.
We just agreed on being confused because my answer was
gonna be I don't know yet. I know it's game
one of the series. There's still a lot of baseball
obviously left to be played in this series, and the
stadiums will continue to shift. Like you mentioned Atlanta getting hot.
(09:32):
What you're hoping is by the time the Diamondbacks Mets
series ends. Okay, this is the ground that the Mets
have to make up. This is how they're gonna get
to this spot that hasn't happened yet. Could Arizona easily
come back and smash New York tonight and look like
the team that Arizona looked like post All Star Break
for most of it when they were the hottest team
in baseball. They absolutely could happen tonight. I don't have
(09:52):
a read on this yet. It's still too early. I
should be giving the Mets more credit for that victory
they had, but math again is working against them right now.
Three back from in Atlanta because of Atlanta being so hot. Now,
so we both agreed, we're confused, and we'll hopefully have
a better answer tomorrow. We'll see if we have that
same answer here for story number one, The New York
Yankees take on the Washington Nationals and Amazon Prime game tonight.
(10:14):
So before you started galling at your television, the only
way you can watch it here in the Capitol region.
The way you can consume any Yankee content in the
Capitol Region is Amazon Prime. Well y, that's it, Yeah,
six forty five Nationals Yankees. You and I were texting
during this game yesterday. It seemed like it was a
freaky Friday situation. Maybe The Sixth Man, any other movie
(10:36):
where a ghost or swapping if bodies occurs. Because Cy
Young decided to go inside the body of Patrick Corbman
in last night's game.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
Not just all right, listen, that was I believe the
text I sent you was now, all of a sudden,
Corbet is cy bleeping young when he faces the Yankees.
It was it was really they couldn't hit him. They
couldn't hit with runners in scoring exosition, they couldn't. The
list of what the Yankees couldn't do was ridiculously long
(11:08):
compared to what they could do.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
I did. I meant to look this up, and I
have to. I still have to, like, can they win
without a home run? No home runs?
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Last night they lose four to Patrick Corbyn. Patrick Corbyn,
who at that point you said hadn't been a favorite
as a starter in years or something like that, fifty
seven games, goes out and gives you six strong with
two hits, two walks, six strikeouts, drops his era a
five point five. Garrett Cole was okay, he gave up
(11:41):
some home runs. The problem is over eight runners in
scoring exosition. Judge and Verdugo both grounded to double plays.
There was a moment where I think Joey Gallo hit
the ball. That's the other thing too, Joey freaking Gallows
and the Yankees turned into like a Blooperrie like le
(12:01):
Mayhew's bobbling the ball to the top of his head.
There's a clown car out there pulling people's pants down,
driving off the field like it was.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
It was just they played terrible baseball. Multiple airs said
four airs? Did you I thought four errors? That was
one play. Also that back to back Cole home run thing,
whereas back to back pitches both against rookies. I don't
want to give the Yankees excuses. I don't I want
to root against the Yankees. I'm an oorial fan out
with the oars to catch him. But there are there's
one hundred and sixty two on the schedule. That is
the weirdest game. That everything we just talked about, from airs,
(12:32):
the things happening to rookies, Cole having no Skander, reports
of Washington calling up the prospects having no idea how
to attack the hitters, and Corbin doing what he did.
That is John Susan's staring at Susan. That's baseball season.
That is a bizarre, odd game. And when you go
through one sixty two, if you voted on what's the
top five strangest games of the Yankee season, that is
(12:53):
on the list. That is a weird, bizarre thing that
happened in that Nationals Yankee game and finished last night.
I feel like I'm being too nice of the Yankees,
but that's truthful. It was just weird stuff that happened.
Trying to find their win losses without home runs. How
to find the win losses with back to back rookies
hitting back to back pitches for home runs in the
(13:15):
Nationals Ballpark, because I don't think that's that exists against
the side young orderining picture.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
I'll keep looking. I'll have to keep looking because right
now I got nothing for you. But it's just yeah,
it was just it was a frustrating, frustrating game, frustrating.
I was mad, and just the I think about sometimes
our previous broadcasting lives like today. It was brought up
to me because somebody was nice stuff. When you guys
(13:40):
were cleaning the office one day, they put a really
cool Fox Sports Radio nine eighty frame picture on my desk,
and I was like, that's that was really nice. That
was really nice, you guys, thank you for that. And
then we started talking about the other how many times
when we were on a station that may or may
not have played the Yankees? Did I lose my ever
loving mind over runners at the scoring position?
Speaker 3 (14:02):
A lot, a.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
Million a million times, maybe more more times than Patrick
Corbyn's been. That damn good Okay, and that's here we
still are. If they don't hit it over the wall,
they don't hit it at all.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
And I oh that was good that Ryan. Do you
know that, Ryan? I do it again. If they don't
hit it over the wall, they don't hit it at all.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Yeah, Doctor Seuss over here. Just man, I'm just it's frustrating, Okay,
I'm frustrated.
Speaker 3 (14:29):

Now back to Levac and Guz. On ninety five nine
and nine to eighty am Fox Sports Radio, the.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Pittsburgh Steelers have announced that Russell Wilson will be their
starting quarterback. What a weird world this season, at least
to start the season. Justin fields, you take a seat,
young man. You're not the guy Guz. You feel as
though there's a tie to the New York market here.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
Yes, don't get frustrated with this question. So I don't
think you're gonna like it, but there it's a legit question.
How should New York Giants fans feel about that? Because
New York Giants fans can look at both of those
quarterbacks right now, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields and say
they're both better than Daniel Jones. There was a time
not too long ago in between that Denver flirting period,
(21:08):
at the tail end of the Seattle spot where the
New York Giants were the favorite to land Russell Wilson.
Russell Wilson visited the Giants Colin Cowhard, who was on
before us. He said, it's a done deal. He wants
to go to New York. Sierra wants to go back
to New York City. It's best for their careers post football.
New York is the market they want to go to.
Russell Wilson's been stuck in Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin, Raleigh, North Carolina.
(21:32):
I believe that, Yeah, Roley, North Carolines, Brensey State is
then in the Pacific Northwest. He's going to the Giants.
You said he was average, okay for Denver fine. I
didn't think he was great, but it's more about the
contract than anything else. We can argue about if he
was good, average, below average, above average, it was way
more about the contract and way more about Sean Payton
than the actual performance on the field of what they
thought the future would be for the franchise. So Giant
(21:55):
fan like now knowing that there was a backup quarterback
in Justin Fields who on still a controllable contract, and
what I mean by that is you're not paying twenty
five million a year for him. Did the Giants make
a mistake not going after one of these two guys
knowing Daniel Jones will be their starter in week one
and not one of these two.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
No, not even a little bit. Because Russell Wilson, let's
say it works out. Let's say he responds to Brian
Daviles coaching. You win ten games, you go to the playoffs,
you lose in the playoffs. Now you've got a year
older Russell Wilson and Daniel Jones. Justin Fields is Daniel Jones,
(22:39):
same guy? Strong arm, can run a lot like turn
the ball over. It looks like they don't know how
to read defenses. So you didn't need either one of
these guys. You it would be better rather than bringing
one of these guys to not win or to win
just enough this year. You're better off having a bad
season where you can go get your quarterback next year.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
Oh that's more depressed in the back. But I don't
think they I don't think they're going to I think
Dale Jones is fine. I don't. I don't. I don't
think he's good. I think he's I think he's good,
That's what I think. I don't think he's great. I
wonder about Justin Fields, and maybe my answer has been
answered by what happened today sort of that if the
Chicago Bears didn't have the Carolina Panthers pick, I'm still
(23:21):
confident that Justin Field would be the quarterback for the
Bears this season. What I happened for the Chicago Bears
is the Bears got the number one pick. When they
were hoping that would happen. They think it'd be pretty cool.
Sure enough, Carolina stunk. Carolina would have had back to
back number one overall picks, but they traded away for
Bryce Young and now here, Chicago sits at eight and nine,
looking potentially for a quarterback because Trevor Lawrence got paid,
(23:44):
Justin Field didn't get paid, Zach Wilson didn't get paid,
Trey Lance didn't get paid. All the guys were in
that same draft class. So they were gonna be in
a spot here soon. Either you're gonna have a lame
duck quarterback who could play well and you eventually have
to pay him, or now Carolina stinks and we get
a quarterback. This is great, right, Like, it was a
little less about Justin Fields being a terrible quarterback and
(24:04):
more about how easily this dropped in their lap of
I can't believe we get Caleb Williams because Carolina is
so dumb. So what I kind of meant by that
is that, okay, So let's say we play my theory out.
Gods believes Justin Fields isn't that bad, but the reason
they dumped them was because they had a cheaper option
and maybe a better option to Williams. If that's true,
(24:27):
why didn't the Giants trade for him? You know, why
in Tampa if they thought Tampa was a better I
think Baker's better, But why in New Orleans? Why didn't
teams that were your raiders if teams wanted a quarterback?
So badly they would have traded for him. They didn't.
Pittsburgh got him for a bargain. And maybe that is
the whole thing here. Maybe we were all fooled the
whole way through. One was barely traded for a mid
(24:50):
round draft pick, the other one had a monster contract.
Who's a super Bowl winning quarterback as a play away
from being a two time winning Super Bowl quarterback, and
at one point, probably two seasons ago, people would talk
about him as a potential Hall of Fame quarterback. Maybe
he Justin Fields is never going to start. We all
got fooled that Justin Fields would be the guy. It
(25:11):
seemed like at times he outplayed him. But maybe it
was always Russell Wilson's job from the moment he signed
with Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
I think that was who you wanted it to be.
I think there was an opportunity for Fields to take it. It
just never did. Uh why didn't you trade for Russell Wilson?
Because if you traded for me, get stuck with this contract.
You wait for him to be out there. You signed
everybody else you signed, you sign.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
And he's not a one year deal. By the way,
for those who forgot r Yeah, that you're barely paying him.
You're barely paying him. Why don't you trade for Justin Fields?
Was cheap? That's good.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Did the Bears want Justin No? I think the Bears
wanted Williams all along and like, look it's we have
fun with it if you watch and I know it's
only preseason and whatever this said. He makes throws other
dudes can't make. He does things. Yes, yeah, so Justin
(26:07):
Fields a hell of an athlete. He's probably a better athlete,
Like if we were doing it to Cathalon, he probably
takes seven out of ten events away from Williams. However,
the one event that he would definitely not do better
and his being a starting quarterback in the.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
NFL, Mike Tomlins awesome. Mike tommin is a Hall of
Fame coach. Mike Tomlins had Pittsburgh. But me saying that
statement out lound, I know there's a lot of Steeler
fans They're like, no, he is not, guys. He is
good because he coaches the Steelers. They need a new
head coach. As much as I think Tomlin's a very
good head coach, this is a great season to find
(26:40):
out because he just had Kenny Pickett he wasn't very
good Ben Roethlisberger's final seasons. He could probably argue Big
Ben should have retire two years sooner. And we've seen
it happen a few other times with the quarterbacks who
knew it was over when it was over. Maybe Roethlisberger
stuck around too long. If they go from bad Big
Ben bad, Kenny Pickett thought Mason Rudolph should be on
(27:01):
a roster. Wasn't there a guy named Duck who started
Duck conchs at one point just making people up? And
now we have if Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are
both bat and by the way, in the preseason they
both look terrible. Take preseason for what it is. Then
you could throw some finally national heat on like Tom,
I get Pittsburgh fans and Pittsburgh fans locally don't give
(27:22):
the love to their head coach, like maybe nationally we
see it. But how many years in a row would
that be bad quarterback play by a super competitive division
in the AFC North where you legit have Yeah, I
think three super Bowl contenders in that division, not just
division contenders, not just playoff contenders, super Bowl contenders. And
(27:43):
the Ravens who were great last season, the Bengals, who
have gone to the Super Bowl within the last five years,
and if Burrow didn't get hurt last year, and Cleveland
who got to the postseason with a fourth string quarterback,
third string running back and have the head coach of
the year and defensive player of the year coming back,
there's a chance has six terrible years of quarterback play now.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
All right, So twenty thirteen and fourteen was the last
time that Ben Roethlisberger started all the regular season games.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
You say twenty fourteen, yes, oh my gosh.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Fifteen he started eleven games, Landry Jones started two, and
Michael Vick started three. Gosh, twenty sixteen and twenty seventeen.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Landry Jones out there with him. So fourteen and two,
fifteen and one.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
I'm sorry, Oh no, no, wait, Look at twenty eighteen, there's
a full season of Ben Roethlisberger. I'm sorry I took
it away from him. I did, I was. I was
a bad person on line.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
That's still six years ago, but then a lot better.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
But still but then he only started two games for
you in twenty nineteen, with a split of Mason Rudolph
and Devlyn Hodges, Duck Hodges twenty twenty, he did fifteen,
Rudolph did one, twenty twenty one.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Rudolph got a game in there.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
And then it's Kenny Pickett, Midbisky, Kenny Pickett, Mason, Rudolph,
Mitchell Trubisky last year.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
If you've got the stats up there, Yes, I know
this answer could be different for you and I, but
I'm gonna assume twenty fourteen is the last statistical season
you could combine all those quarterbacks. If you want, I
would say twenty fourteen or two thousand and eight, and
I'll go for fourteen. Looking at the stats and how
they compared to the quarterbacks in those years, would you
say it's been ten years since they put up good
(29:25):
quarterback numbers and take good for whatever you want for
that term. I'm guessing probably twenty fourteen Big Ben put
like four thousand yards in at least twenty five touchdowns.
That'd be my guess because he usually was active. I
mean that's twenty fourteen. He's probably in his early thirties,
thirty one, thirty two. I bet he had a four
(29:45):
thousand yard season. And you know what, I'll give you
more credit. I bet Big Big Ben through for like
thirty plus touchdowns in twenty fourteen. Now go look that
up if that's if that's ten years ago and that's
the last time he had a really good season. I
know that sounds like, oh, he played great twenty fourteen.
You had ten years. I thought it was five ten
(30:07):
years of a bad quarterback playing Pittsburgh. It might be
on Tomlin. I don't know. I had a brain freeze
on how it looks up. Four thousand, nine hundred and
fifty two yards he had in thirty two touchdowns. Yeah,
I'd say that's a pretty phenomenal season for Ben Roethlisberger.
Twenty eighteen, five thousand yards and thirty four touchdowns. Okay,
(30:28):
I thought it was twenty sixteen eighty good. When he
was upright, he could sling it. Because even even later
he's over three thousand, he was awesome. He's going to
the Hall of Fame. Those are awesome stats.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
If he doesn't get any he just shows up all
like wrapped up in like Katie Tabe.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
You know what, maybe Ryan, maybe I should give the
Steelers a little bit more credit. I thought Roethlisberger statistically,
because of those injuries he laid out wouldn't have been there, like,
maybe this is what happens that.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
Actually twenty eighteen is his career year in passing years.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
Look at that. You know what, I actually feel better
about my take to lead off the segment. I've told
you there were connections between the Giants and the Steelers.
This is what happened for New York. Eli stunck. Eli
stuck at the end. At the end, the last few
seons of Eli and other there's a lot of ELI
fans at the end, it was getting bad for Eli.
It wasn't time for you to get bench for Gino
Smith or Davis Webb, but it was time. We all
(31:21):
know that he wasn't the same Eli that helped him
win two Super Bowls. What happened is New York's quarterback
play has not been anywhere close to being as good
as it was for Eli. The same happened in Pittsburgh.
It just happened a little later. Ben Roethlisberger played a
few more seasons and then post Big Ben, Hey, I
guess my expectations are. Hey, I know you had a
Hall of Fame quarterback for fifteen seasons who ranked in
the top ten career wise and touchdown in passing yards.
(31:43):
Why can't you just find someone else to do that?
Pittsburgh hasn't found it. I would I if you told
me right now. Okay, guys, do you think Russell Wilson
and Justin Fields will be below average? Average? Above average?
I would go with below average this season, and that
won't be good enough for them to be a postseason team.
She there's two players this year who have a chance
(32:05):
to sure pass sixty thousand passing yards. Oh, Aaron Rodgers, yep,
he is and Matthew Stafford correct, yep. Stafford's got a
little longer to go. Uh. Stafford's got fifty six thousand,
so he's gotta have a four thousand passing yard year.
Aaron Rodgers just needs like a thousand yards and he's there.
(32:26):
Ben Rothlisberger's fifth all time passing yards. Top four Brady
uh no? No? Yeah, Top four is Brady Breeze, Manning Marino,
Manny Farv Marino's eighth. Now, wow, that's.
Speaker 4 (32:43):
I mean, this is it's always it's always fun to
look at the old stats. Uh Rodgers is a he
with a decent year could pass Farv? Actually, we have
be a good year on passing touchdowns. Roethlisberger's eight all
time with passing touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
He's going on the hall, he is, Where's Eli? Where's he?
I bet, Eli's like right around eight to twelve on
both of those marks. If you have it up, I
bet El passing touchdowns, he's tenth, and then the arnage.
I guess, I bet he's still up there. I bet.
And now before the season he's sitting. You know, I'll
say tenth again. He is. You're so smart. You love
(33:23):
these games. We should just do power wreckings. I love
Hall of Fame discussion in the NFL because you just
said the stats. Baseball used to be the sport of stats,
and now it's not even fun to do the Hall
of Fame, Like should so and so be in? Wait?
Is Bonds, Clemens, a Rod Ramirez and all these other
guys not in? Then we what are we doing? Football?
We can still do stuff like this, Like the Eli
(33:43):
discussion is going to be the greatest football Hall of
Fame discussion ever. Rivers and Roethlisberger is going to be great.
Rodgers is going to get in. But if you're gonna
tell me people didn't like what Kurt Schilling said during
his time politically is that actually gonna affect Aaron Rodgers
with the NFL and football voters seriously, is what I
hamp Aaron Rodgers retires, what he says in his post
career and everything else. So that's a fun discussion. I
(34:04):
like that stuff. But Pittsburgh's gonna stink and their quarterbacks,
the quarterbacks aren't very good.
Speaker 14 (34:09):
You could.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
Gets out, how dare you?
Speaker 4 (34:15):
Yeah, I'm not, I'm not. I'm not big. I'm not
sold on Pittsburgh. It's gonna make hard knocks interesting, I
can tell you that. But that's that's about it. The
turmoil there will be helpful for us. Uh, you know
what's a turmoil?

That was not the same text?
Speaker 18 (40:12):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (40:12):
No, different one. Okay, Uh, I got a text here
from our pal Christina, who is the media rap. She
didn't text me, she asked me. She goes Hey, is
Tony Elevado coming on with you guys Friday? I said, no,
Tony's last week was last week. She's like, oh, okay.
I was like, wait a second, Uh, if you could,
(40:33):
could you like ask about coach Jerry McNamara joining us
to lead off the show at Friday at three o'clock?
And she said, well, that's the plan. I haven't confirmed
with this team yet, but we're floating the idea around.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
All right, Yeah, she didn't text me. All right, well, okay, see,
I have other people texting me. I have special guests.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
Coming in the show, and the show and the show. Okay, listen,
we got a lot floating in the air today, floating.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
Te'll make plans for the weekend. Yet till after that
my friends come in and have a conversation with Oh
my gosh, what does that even mean? You'll find out
I have to payoff this tease too. Rangers, White Sox yesterday,
you know that was my play of the day.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
Yep. Did you know baseball history was made during my
play of the day yesterday? If you missed yesterday's show,
I said, I hated everything on the schedule yesterday. Rarely
I think it was my least favorite day of way
draft house pounded so which I told you don't do it,
and I still fired one away. I said, I'm taking
the White Sox money line. And for the first time
in the history of Major League bingsball, a game was
(41:30):
suspended without an out occurring. That's right, yesterday's White Sox
Ranger game was suspended after just four pitches. And it's
a doubleheader today. So I believe I'm going to blame
the Chicago White Sox if you didn't lose the bat though, right,
no scratched, But I blame the White Sox franchise. If
you think the White Sox franchise is awful, you should.
(41:51):
But this sums it up here. You imagine me and
a fan and you show up to the game and
they start the game up, and then they have four pitches.
They actually like games over, go home, figure it out.
That's awful. I you know, selfishly, I joke around about
that being my play the day. I would feel awful.
Even more so for a White Sox fan now that
(42:13):
the organization's pulling stuff like this. Four pitches, you just
can't call the game before you start. You can't call
the game in three.
Speaker 4 (42:18):
An drive all the way, their pay for parking, do
all the stuff. Yeah, that sucks, that's not that's not good,
that's not fun. They shouldn't they should not have done.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
Did that.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
Before We give our plays of the day today, which
are brought to you by Mohawks Chevrolet. Do you have
less drive a malwk Chevy Extuit twelve of the Northway
where they always go out of the way to please you.
Earlier mentioned sometimes I don't mind if I make a mistake,
or later I've mentioned it all the time. I tell
you all the time that I don't mind if I
make a mistake because it's fun, you know, sprinkle feed
(42:51):
the haters. Yesterday we talked about it. I'm cringing for
Steven X Smith right now. So on was it first
take you to with mad Dog? Yes, he goes on
like a rant about he's talking about who's whose season's
more impressive. Aaron Judges of Show Hao tanis so he's
(43:12):
he takes the side of show Hao Tani and he
says like, hey, let's not forget that the reason Judge
has these numbers is that Juan Soto hits behind him.
You know, you know, you can't you can't pitch the
you can't pitch around Judge because Juan Sotos they're waiting
for you in the wings, and everyone just looks at
(43:32):
him like you're Stephen Smith's big twenty five million dollars
a year. I'm not going to correct you that all
year long. Sodo is hit in front of Judge, but
like everyone's got and everyone's just roasting him, just destroying him.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
Now here's the problem with Stephen A. Smith. He doesn't
know who it's He doesn't know the Yankees batting order. No, no, no,
he just can't be on television this often. Like you're
on television for three hours a day, then you've got
a podcast, then you had the NBA stuff, then you've
got it's okay to take a little bit of time off.
(44:05):
Like he's expected to know every single thing about every
single thing all the time. Here's the thing, this is
the world we live in, Steven A. Smith. I don't
know if people constantly share how many things he gets right.
People want to pounce on him, Like you said, to
set this up, they haters have been given food to
eat today. But Steve AY Smith puts himself in this spot.
I maybe he doesn't care. Maybe he doesn't care, like, hey,
(44:26):
I'm gonna make a great a mistake. But he could
help himself a little bit, be like, let's let's dial
it back a little bit, give me like three hours
to focus on a show and maybe something on the weekends.
He is so overexposed that he's left himself vulnerable to
constant criticism.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
I just that moment because we you and I have
agreed long long ago. If I'm wrong and you catch me,
correct me. If if you're wrong and I catch you
him and crack you. For two reasons, One, it's realistic,
it's what would happen if we were having this conversation
at a bar. And two, so that everybody calms down
on X, he's.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
Like a yeah, what did you say?
Speaker 18 (45:03):
Yo?
Speaker 3 (45:04):
Like those that's the fact that no one jumps in
to go what.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
But it also like was that his entire part of
the conversation, Like when he was doing prep or when
somebody's prep it for him, they're like, well, of course show, Hey,
Tonie's only got you know, forty some odd hit home runs.
He doesn't have wan subtle hitting behind him. Remember it
was like weeks ago, I was like, what what if
you did flip him? What if you because everybody's walking judge,
what if you flipped him? And like you kind of
(45:35):
thought I was crazy, But clearly I'm not that crazy
Steve N. A.
Speaker 3 (45:37):
Smith. That had already happened. We're gonna find out real
soon that this tension with Stephen A. Smith and his
coworkers will probably be in a new book because the
rumor is he has a new contract coming at some
point or trying to get it or whatever, so any
little mistake might hurt that, or someone calling him out
and going viral will hurt that. So it feels like
exactly what you set up, exactly what you said. Nobody
(45:59):
wants to step to Stephen A. Smith right now because
they feel like they're gonna lose their spot on first Seck.
Has Monica McNutt been back. I don't think so, but
she's basketball. Is Max Kellerman been back? No, he got
I don't know where he is. I think he's on
the island with the Stremski and the flake A. Allegedly
people think he's gonna come back. I think Max Kellerman's
just done. He's like, you know what, I worked like
a twelve hour day. I got millions of dollars. I
(46:20):
got some kids like I had a good run. I'm
gonna pull a Craig Killbourne. I'm good. I'm going hurt
your retirement on this one. All right, my play of
the day today, I'm dialing it back. I'm dialing it back.
It's still the pin stripe parlay. But it's a simple
one if you think about it. This draught of home
runs for Judge and Soto of one game has to stop.
(46:40):
But I'm not gonna just to hit, hit for Judge,
hit for sodos plus one twenty no money, no, no, no, yes,
I can do whatever I want. You want a Sodo
home run, I want that. But that's all my bat.
Speaker 4 (46:51):
My play of the day is a hit for Judge,
hit for Soto plus one twenty plus money.
Speaker 3 (46:57):
They both get hit, so I get paid per Dick.
By the time this first pitch happens in two hours,
you are gonna fire off a second wager that's gonna
be a Sodo home run.
Speaker 4 (47:06):
The reason you are incorrect is I don't have money
on my account right now. I need all right to
build up my account by doubling my money. Point I
think is an easy bet.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
Okay point point five wagers on the Sodo home run
