It's time for Hannah's One Big Thing.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
On Madison's classic rock one on one point five IBA FM.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
Hey, what's going on Hannah here? Thank you so much
for hanging with me. Excited to have Ben in studio
to pass things off and we can catch up and
chit chat about my one big thing? What's going on?
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Ben? Oh?
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Not too much, Hannah.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
The number of people that took me to task yesterday
on social media for flushing and medication down the toilets.
I've learned my lesson. Everybody stopped yelling at me. I
will no longer do that in the future.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Okay, I learned, okay that that might be the one
instance where I'm like, yeah, that's fine, cancel him.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Just kidding.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Listen, everybody makes mistakes, even Ben, It's human. I am.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Oh yeah, all right, let's dive into your one big
thing today.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
All right, So this surface like a few years ago
and now it's kind of coming back again. It's the
alphabet song, you know, like you're a B, C, D, right,
you know what I'm talking about?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Keep singing first, Hannah, God.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Nobody wants to hear that. I'm sorry I even subjected
you to the first few letters. I may have to
though to explain this. So have you heard that nowadays
they teach it differently?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Okay, So you know how like we grew up singing
lmn O, P and x R, Y and z. Yeah, well,
they don't teach it that way anymore in schools because
they think it's confusing to kids, Like they don't really
realize that L M, N, O, P are different letters,
and then they think it's either y nd or and z,
and so they've modified it and put the pauses in
(01:33):
different places. So we go A B C d E
F g h I j K, l m n O P. Right, yep,
well it now goes A b c d E f
g h I j k l m n O P,
q r S t u v w x y Z Okay,
(01:53):
which like, oh my god, Kim, I just did all that.
I'm so sorry, but it makes sense. Okay, you see
how the pauses are different. Yeah, and I hate the
fact that, Like I'm really mad that they changed it,
but I understand why.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
They're doing it.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Oh, but it pains me to lose that elemental P.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yes, it's but the worst.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Part, like I get the reason behind that. Okay, it
makes sense. All for it if it's gonna help our
kids learn better. I mean we were fine, but whatever.
They make it so easy on these kids these days. Yeah,
they do what they went and changed the last two
lines to say, now I never will forget how to
say the alphabet?
Speaker 3 (02:28):
What tell me why they had.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
To change those two lines? What was wrong with next time?
Want you sing with me?
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Like that part?
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I get rearranging the pauses, changing the timing like whatever,
but why the last two lines? First all, no one
talks that way now, I never will forget, Like, come on.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Right, and you're a phone to pick with this? Oh,
I mean who did this?
Speaker 1 (02:51):
I don't know. There was some teacher who posted it
on TikTok okay, and I mean it's literally been a
thing like a couple of years ago they were talking
about how they really need to modify how it goes,
and then all of it we're like, no, why would
you do that? Right? And so now they're bringing it
back again. And that's the worst part is I understand
and kind of agree with, like why they're changing the pauses,
like one hundred percent right, Sorry, hit my mic I'm
clearly passionate about this, but changing the last two lines like.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
So wame I yeah, I mean I guess whatever it
takes to help kids learn to read and know the
ABC's all those kinds of things.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
So I guess good on them. But uh man, just
continue something.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
What happens, like because like with my daughter Karina, I'm
teaching her the ABC's and I'm singing the old school
version that's apparently incorrect, and she's gonna get to school
and like know the wrong one.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
And you're probably teaching her in two different languages too, right, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
I actually am.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
That's so funny, totally. Yeah, she's just gonna be messed
up all around. It's fine for Karita.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
She'll get to talk about her parents in therapy, don't worry.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Uh well, I learned something new back to back days
from you, Hannah, so thank you. Well, You're welcome during
the rest of your Thursday, and we'll do it again
tomorrow on a TG I s
