Donald Trump had multiple court case losses this week. One court ruled his military invasion of Los Angeles was illegal; another struck down his tactic of punishing universities with the loss of research funding; his tariffs were rules illegal; and  the Fifth Circuit blocked Trump’s effort to use the Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador.  One of his many clown-car cabinet appointees got clobbered in a U.S. Senate committee, with Republicans joining Democrats in lambasting Bobby “Brain Worm” Kennedy’s upending of U.S. health policy. His Department of Defense sank a boat out of Venezuela, claiming it was being used to run drugs. Is this an Act of War? The week ended with a very bad jobs report: only 22,000 added jobs in August, and June’s report revised to show the loss of 13,000 jobs. Trump continued to try to rig elections: Missouri’s Governor has called the Legislature into session with the intent of eliminating the only black-majority House district in his state;and  Trump is reportedly trying to buy off a couple of candidates for New York City mayor in order to help Andrew Cuomo. His latest make-Donny-richer grift debuted this week with the launch of still another crypto-driven Ponzi scheme that is netting The Orange Crypto Criminal several billion dollars. In Michigan, House Speaker “MAGA” Matt Hall says an association president who criticized the Republican’s state budget plan should be fired … you can’t get Trumpier than that! Our guest this week is former Senator Debbie Stabenow. 2025 is the first year in the last 50 she’s been a private citizen, with a career in public service that began on the Ingham County Board of Commissioners, continuing on as state Representative, state Senator, member of the U.S. House and … for 24 years as United States Senator.  Senator Stabenow has been one of the worker bees in the Senate, shunning publicity and notoriety to focus on policy … and getting things done. As a political candidate she was nearly unstoppable, defeating incumbents to win 4 of the five jobs she’s held … and in a 5th campaign flipped a Republican-held seat. These days she proudly bears the title of Grandma!
