to answer your question. We get questions submitted by you
(00:20):
and we'll see if today yours comes up in rotation,
and I'll tell you how to submit a question in
just a moment as well. At first, would you help me?
Welcome Bruce el Shiner, Attorney for the Injured.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Good morning, Bruce, Hey, good morning, Cad. How you doing
this beautiful any morning?
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Doing just fine, doing great, Probably not as good as you.
You're always so positive. How are you doing today?
Speaker 2 (00:42):
I'm doing great, thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah, I kind of figured as much, mister positivity here.
And as we head into some of the cooler months,
I'm in love with the fact that the weather's maybe
going to get a little bit better for us. I
know you're a fan of the warmer weather, though.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Well, I'm a fan of the nice school weather.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
The morning so that's right. And you're an early morning
guy too as far as getting up and working out
and exercising and that kind of thing, aren't you.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
I did an hour on the stairmast or at six
o'clock this morning.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
That is dedication, that really is. But he's also dedicated
to providing help. There's so many people that need help,
and you're all about that. So why don't we get
into today's question and see what you can do.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I'm ready, Todd, All right, Bruce, here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
It says my teenage son was a passenger in his
friend's truck when they got sideswiped on Elgabean Road by
someone who ran a red light. The driver who caused
the crash had no insurance. My son is badly injured
and needs surgery. I have uninsured motorists coverage, but my
agent says it may not apply since he wasn't in
(01:48):
one of our cars. Can a lawyer challenge that this
is a recurring theme in this segment, uninsured motorists and
uninsured motorists coverage? What do you make of this situation?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
You know, I don't understand why insurance companies are always
out there. They're advertising on television, and as soon as
you make a claim, they say, sorry, we can't help.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Yeah, what's that about.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
You know, that's why they sell uninsured motorists coverage. It
doesn't matter whose car you are in. If you live
in a household with uninsured motorists coverage, you're entitled to
recover if the party that causes the accident either doesn't
(02:39):
have insurance or doesn't have enough insurance to satisfy your claim.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Also, if he was lucky, the vehicle that he was
in head uninsured motorists coverage. Oh and he would be
able to recover as a passenger in that vehicle as well.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
I never even thought about that. That's something that should
be checked pretty quickly.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
You know.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
This is also a very good point. I know we
kind of you kind of hammer away at making sure
you can you've purchased the most uninsured motorist coverage you
can possibly afford, because it's important. But here again, another
uninsured driver causes an accident, and there are so many
on the road.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
It's incredible the number of calls that we get from
people who are very seriously injured and there's either no
insurance or not enough to satisfy their claim.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
I mean, you are just really pushing your luck if
you don't have that uninsured motorist coverage to protect yourself
against this kind of driver. So off the soapbox now
and onto a big thank you.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Well, this is also a case, you know, where the
insurance company questioned whether there was coverage. Oh yeah, why
as soon as you're why as soon as you're in
a serious accident, should call an experienced personal injury lawyer.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Yeah, there's some things to check out here, Like you said,
the vehicle that they were riding in and that kind
of thing. Really the answer to the question can a
lawyer challenge that? You bet a lawyer could, so get
a hold of a legal professional today. Absolutely all right,
I'll give a helpful number out here in just a second.
