Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to at First Listen.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
I'm Andrew, I'm Diamond, and I'm Dominique, and this is.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
The music podcast for people who don't always get the
hype but want to. And today's a very special episode.
We alluded in the last episode that we did that
there we're gonna be some changes, we're gonna try some
new things, and Diamond decided that she didn't want to
be a part of that, and she's leaving the show
(00:39):
because you hate me.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
No, Andrew, are you kidding?
Speaker 4 (00:43):
If I hated you, then damn I was about to
time and I can't say.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
You're gonna say something that would really hurt myth.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
No, Andrew, I am leaving the podcast because I'm just like,
I've been off way too much, with way more than
I could chew in twenty twenty four, and after consulting
with some people who have my best interests at heart,
I've been.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Told not Andrew, No, no, no, Damn.
Speaker 5 (01:12):
I was like, you can't do this, No, But I
was told to just like slow down a little bit
as much as I could because I've been all over
the place and last year I was supposed to do
that and I didn't, And I just like took things
off on my plate and then replace them with other things,
and I just feel like I need a minute.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
It occurred to me after we had that first conversation
where you were like, I can do I don't know,
ten more episodes.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
I was like, that's like all of next year. No,
I like half of the year, because.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
I'm like I can't just like say, oh, now I'm
not doing this anymore. Like, yeah, you need a break,
but you also have to be an adult and like
take care of your commitments and follow things through.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
And then also like.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
The listeners, and Andrew, I'm like, I'm gonna be sad,
but you know I'll be able to leave work early.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Don't tell my boss.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
I'm telling him.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
So we should introduce this other lady. This is Dominique.
So she's going to take up Diamond's mantle. She's gonna
be our new co host.
Speaker 6 (02:20):
Diamond is graciously passing the torch yes to me, and
I'm super excited to join in this cool thing you'll built.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
It's really cool and that's something that i've really I
have to thank you for, Andrew. Like I've said this
so many times, Andrew Kime with the idea and then
came to me and honestly put everything together, and he
does all of this work, which was another thing that
I felt bad about, Like, I can't just leave all
this work on Andrew.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
It's unfair. I felt like it was unfair to you.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
But You've built something that's actually amazing, and I'm like
kind of shocked that you could be so cool like that.
But I'm really proud of you, and I'm proud of
you guys. I'm very excited for this new chapter for
you both.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
Well. Thanks.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
I mean I definitely would have would not have started
the show without you thinking that it was a good
idea and helping to get it going like that was
definitely instrumental. And then basically as we started the podcast,
your work schedule changed pretty dramatically.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
In a not very fun way.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, Diamond was doing the podcast sometimes on literally no
sleep for like thirty six hours.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
Yeah, you do like a super or early morning show.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Yeah, and then at the time I was doing the
overnight too, and so that was out of control.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
The only day she had time to record was after
she had already been here for twelve hours.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (03:49):
That was insane, actually, Yeah, like that's you'll be at
a high risk of like birnbying committed. Oh I think
that is. There's only you can only miss sleep for
like a couple of days until you actually, like I
start seeing things.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I know, tell me about it. I've seen a lot.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
So and during that you were worried about how much
work I'm doing. I'm like, uh no, I'll do whatever.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
But that just tells you what you're in for. With Andrew,
he cares, you know, like he's.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Like, hey, we may have to change, uh, we may
have to like push back a recording, and I know
you're gonna be irritated. Honestly he would like he wouldn't
say it, but he would, like you could see it
on his face, like or just the way that he
typed a message like we're gonna have to sorry in advance.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
I know you're kind of annoyed, but it is what
it is. We got to do what we gotta do.
But he cared.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
You know, some people would have just been like, hey, whatever,
we can't do it, or we're changing a day, or
you're gonna have to come in early or stay later,
or come in on a Saturday.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
But Andrew actually cares.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
So well, Yeah, and it's so it makes it a
fun project.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (04:53):
And for me, I'm not in radio. I don't have
to come here for work, so it's like a fun He.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Was like, anyone will let you through the door straight up?
Oh my god.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
I know, don't tell like those guys downstairs, but every
you like, let me in it. But every single time
I've come here, somebody has let me in, pretty much
almost every time Andrew. I text Andrew, I'm here and
then someone lets me in. First.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
We were talking about that after I let you and
a woman stop me in the home and was like,
you know, we really should do something about just letting
people in, because I said, do you know where you're going?
And she's like yeah, and so I was like okayy bye.
She looked at me like that was irresponsible. You didn't
even ask the person like what their name is and
blah blah blah.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
And I'm like, you know what.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
You're right, But until they figure something out, girl, keep
getting in, bang that door down.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
My theory is they don't want to be the person
who didn't let the black girl in.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Well that too well, and that's how I feel.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
I'm always like, now I'm gonna be the black girl
that just walk by a whole bunch of people in
the little stair not stairwell, but like walkway, and I'm
gonna say it was the black girl who didn't let
me in. I'm like, okay, yeah, it's easy to point
you out.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Yes, the girl with the braids. Who else here has braids?
Speaker 4 (06:11):
You know?
Speaker 6 (06:11):
No one that I said, That's what I was pretty
sure it was you. But I was like, well, look
at them having other black people.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Around, very scarce, very scarce.
Speaker 6 (06:23):
No, hey, Andrews got us all collected in one room
right now.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
You're very lucky there, You're lucky.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
There was a situation the other day where someone like
sort of waved it me from So there's like elevators
and then there's like a glass door that's locked, and
someone was in that elevator bank and she's like sort
of waved and I was like, hi, I recognized her
as I think she works in sales or something, which
is the floor below us. And I was like hi,
and I walked by, and then I stopped right before
(06:55):
and I'm like, maybe that was just like her awkward
way of being like I forgot my ID, And that
was in fact the case. And I was like, I'm
glad I let you in, because otherwise.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
You would have just like.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Just waved to me and was like nope, it.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Would have been labeled an a whole.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Yeah, if that's not already the case, you think I
don't know, people are saying about I don't know.
Speaker 6 (07:21):
The girl's bathroom. You should see what's on the stalls.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Oh no, yeah, and Andrew suck.
Speaker 6 (07:28):
Yeah, that's what it says with ex as you wish
who wrote it?
Speaker 1 (07:33):
How would I know? Do you know?
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Maybe your wife buddy that that would be hilarious, that
would be a really good part. We have a graffiti problem.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
So uh, Dominique came to the podcast with a bunch
of ideas. So right now you can connect with us
of course on Instagram at Verssistant Podcast, but we're also
going to start this YouTube thing up so if eventually
people will be able to watch the full episodes, that's
our plan. We're gonna try a bunch of stuff. The barrier.
(08:08):
One of the barriers to the first version of the
show here with Diamond was doing an album for every episode.
And I remember I thanked Diamond at one point because
my initial inclination was to do an album every week,
And after we did that a couple of times, I
was like, there's no After we did the every other
(08:30):
week thing a couple of times, I'm like, there's no
way we could do this every week.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
This is so much work.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
So but there's other ways to consume music than just
by listening to albums. So we're gonna try a bunch
of things. You're gonna see the podcast feed. There's gonna
be a lot of stuff in it. We're gonna try
stuff out because why not. Why shouldn't we If we
think we have good ideas, let's just put them out
and see what happens, see if people like it.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
I just have one request.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Okay, when you guys are nominated for iHeart Podcast Award,
can I be invited so I can take pictures?
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Like a problem mom.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Yeah, we have like a guest list or something.
Speaker 6 (09:10):
Yeah we get plus plus one or plus two plus two.
Yeah you know, yeah the list, that's all.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Okay, you make the plus two, Sure, okay, the plus one,
but plus two I'm great. So yeah, that's what's happening.
The next episode in the podcast Feed will not have
Diamond Donnett. It will be Dominique and Diamond will be
back to uh share an album with us that she
(09:38):
thinks is really good. She'll be just a guest and
she'll have no responsibilities other than the typical guest responsibilities.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
That's gonna be fun.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yeah, she tried to come come around here and use
the board. I was like, I use the board now. Damn,
I run the show now. But all right, is there
anything you guys want to add?
Speaker 6 (10:01):
I just yeah, I'm just stoked. I'm super excited that
we got we get to do this little moment together.
And this is I feel like this is important because
we had because we met each other all together. At first,
I just and then you were and then you mysteriously
disappeared into into your life and so and when I
(10:21):
started talking to Andrew about this, so it's really nice
to to see you two together being cute and and uh,
you know, be a part of that.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Oh that's great.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Listen, you guys will see me and Andrew a lot
together a lot this year because we're going to Mets games. Okay,
we're going to Opening Day. We're putting it out there
if anybody that listens to this podcast works for the
Mets and wants to give us free.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Tickets, say why not? Sure, why not? But yeah, we'll
be at a lot of stuff.
Speaker 3 (10:53):

Speaker 6 (11:44):
It's not like, oh, we switched her out like everyoneeverco

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Oh yeah, yeah yeah on the Zoo, That's what I
all went right over mind, I like.
