Speaker 1 (00:00):
Backstage Hot ninety nine five jingle Ball Present by Kapita
One with Tate mcray Tate, Hello, Hello, Greedy, officially number
one most played song at radio this past year. Let's go,
how many times have you heard the song?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I mean probably wait, too many times? I play every
night on Yeah, absolutely, yeah, but I'm on the radio.
I don't usually like hear it too much, but I
my dad says, he hears it like.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
That's awesome twenty times. Your dad a guy where it's
like if he's out somewhere and it's playing, he goes,
that's my daughter. That's amazing.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
My grandparents are like that too, my dad at least
my granddaughter.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Oh, that's amazing. It's funny. Well, we're happy to have
you back at jingle Ball, and it's cool. I always
say the cool thing about jingle Ball is you never
know who the next big superstar is going to be.
We had you two years ago and you're starting to
take off now here. We are massive, stark, But you
had to know, like this is obviously the plan, right,
you know you're good, you know your talented. You had
no like this is building.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
I mean, I think all you can do is just
work as hard as you can, and yeah, you know,
see a vision of some sort and see where that
takes you. And I feel very lucky to be in
this again and to see some great artists.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
It's cool.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I mean, I'm enjoying it. I love everyone on my team.
I love performing these songs. It's been like a dream
come true.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Well, as a Canadian when you were growing up, Sean
was taken off, Bieber was taken off week and unless
you they had to be pretty cool as a young
Canadian artist to see like, oh there's people from Canada
making it.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, of course. I mean at that point, it didn't
even seem like a real goal. Like you're listening to
Justin Bieber and you're like, that isn't a real job
to do what he does, Like there's no chance that's real.
So it's pretty crazy to be on these stages. It's
like sometimes I can't even wrap my head around it.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
You're killing If the album comes out in February, is
it done?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
It is kind of hard?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Is there a hard deadline of like okay, you really
can't add anything else? Kind of?
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I mean, I always you can tweak it forever until
like I think it's like two weeks before.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Oh really, you can like tweak it, but yeah, it
sounds dangerous.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, I mean it's the worst. Like I'll be picking
it apart until like the day before.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Well do you ever perform a song down? I'm like, oh,
I wish I would have used this lyric and said
this one all the time.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
I mean yeah, there's times that I'll hear the song
will be out for like a year, and I'm like,
can I change the mix? And They're like why, I
don't know, it's just bugging me, like just certain things
like tones in my voice or things that I say, like,
yeah you can just like drive you insanes nuts.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Let me switch with you.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Oh no, nobody saw. I don't worry. It was very
We're doing that again, and then the tour starts next
year as well, which is so y're exciting. Yeah, that
kind of planned out. As far as what we're doing
routine wise and setless setless.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
We don't know yet. I mean we just put the
tour on sale like a month ago, I think three
weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
It's sold out in like a day.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Which is so nuts. I mean yeah, I've just like
written in my journal like a million times, like one day.
I want to do an arena tour. So to do
that is like literally so wild to me.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
I'm for sure.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I'm so excited. I'm so excited to see how we
create the show, how we build it. It'll be fun.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Is it hard now to have to like whittle down
a set list because obviously, like now you have all
these hits. It's like, but you want to play the
new stuff too, but your fans want to hear all
the old stuff. Is that hard?
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah? It is hard. I think people don't understand like
how much time you sit in front of a computer
and like see what flows into the other and they're like,
why didn't you include this? And you're like I wanted to,
Like I would do a six hours I wouldn't. That
sounds actually terrible, but like you, you want to do
all the songs, but it's just like what flows and
feels good?
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Really, I imagine too, because obviously you're a great dancer,
so the choreography's got to be as on point as
the singing, right.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Of course, And yeah, it gets really exhausting. I'm of
their a long time.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
You see the question do you have a calories you
burner show?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
A guest you know what I've always wanted to put
on like an aural ring and see because sometimes we
come out when we want to puke and we're like,
this is like a basketball player or a football player, Like.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yeah, like your stress levels like when you're dancing and everything,
yeah the whole time.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Okay, Well, so Shelby has won of the rings and
she tells me, oh.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah, I'm walking to work at five, and I'm like, oh,
it's spikes. Every time I see you, I walk in,
I see the same cool, stressed morning I'll look like
when I get home that night, I'm like, I don't know,
five am in the studio.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
That's crazy accurate, That's what that is. Yeah, is it
hard to I mean we live in time now where
you can record today if you want to, You could
literally record a song today. Do you ever tell yourself,
like I need to take a day off of not
doing anything writing anything music and just rain rat a
little bit.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
You know, you try as much as you can to
the problem is is music is everywhere and everything, and yeah,
especially to like musicians and all my friends, like all
we think about is music twenty four to seven, So
it is hard to like escape it. Sometimes I'm like,
tell me about like what's going on in sports or
something that I'm like, give me like a refresher. I
(05:07):
just need to know something else other than music.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
When you Megan Maroni shared the stage recently that.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
She's amazing, She's so incredible.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Can we deal a country like Canadian country one day?
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I think, you know what, I would love to do
a song with her one day. She's so talented.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Last question I have because in the common world, if
sometimes we'll see a person we haven't seen a while,
go hey, we should really hang out. Yeah, it just
doesn't happen with artists, like hey we should really collaborate,
and then you both know, like it's probably just I mean.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Always that's fair.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Tate mcray backstage, Hot ninety nine five jingle Ball present

Speaker 2 (05:42):

Speaker 1 (05:44):
