Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's Up? It is DJ screenline from the Mercedes Ben's Interview
Lounges with Khalid Khali. What's up on?

Speaker 2 (00:05):
What's going on? Feeling great? Feeling greats?

Speaker 1 (00:08):
So let me ask you, man, how has your sound
and approach to making music evolved since the release of
your debut album, American Team.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I will say I learned to trust my intuition a
lot more as a creator. When I create now it's
a little bit more impulsive. Before I feel like I
put a little too much time and thought into it
to the point where I mean, I spent like a
whole year at one point not creating music just because
I was holding myself back fears of expectations. And so

(00:35):
now I just create for my soul. I just let
whatever comes out.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
And what personal experiences or emotions have been the biggest
influence on your music?

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Personal experiences, I will say twenty nineteen was an amazing
year for me. Twenty nineteen was an amazing year, but
I really exhausted myself when I released Free Spirit. It
was a lot for me. At that time, I had
just turned twenty one, So I would say the pandemic
really reset me completely. It took me back to my basics,

(01:07):
and it allowed me to learn and understand what my
true purpose of creating is really forn that's to heal
and help others.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
No doubt, no doubt. He achieved a lot at a
young age, right. How do you stay grounded and maintain
balance fast faced industry like this one.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I just try not to take myself too seriously. This
is a gift that I've been given. I'm blessed to
be able to do what I do and I can't
complain about my job at all. Like I love what
I do. It's so much fun. And my core group
that I surround myself with, my team, my friends, my family,
keeping keeping the close ones close. That's what keeps me humble.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
You've been all around the world, but you're in the
atl Let me ask you, what's your favorite thing about
this city right here? Atl The culture.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
I love, the South, the Southern hospitality, the food, the
lamb chops.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
I was like, what kind of food?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Nah?

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I love Atlanta most definitely. In your music, you touch
on various life experiences and how do you prioritize your
mental health? Woman? All of this fame Khalid.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
When I'm not doing this, I play a lot of Fortnite,
can't lie a lot of video games? Okay, a lot
of video games, and you know, I'll just take it.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
These got youll. I relax, absolutely absolutely when we lie.
From the Mercedes Benz Interview Lounge. DJ Scream Khalid, we
are here. Stay tuned.
