(00:00):
For national winners. From a localperspective, you're in the right place.
It's balls, bats and bets withTim o'ke right here on the gambling,
dread, pain, suffering. That'swhat this last week has been for Eagles
fans. Welcome in everyone to balls, bats and bets. And yeah,
obviously last week, yeah man, there's not a lot of words you'd want
(00:26):
to use to describe it. Andquite frankly, I'm gonna save it for
the second segment tonight because I gota lot to say, I got a
lot to break down. I knowit's been a weekend. Look, we're
also obviously preview Eagles Cowboys. Ofcourse that'll be most of the conversation,
but I can't roll over what happenedlast week. But that being said,
we got to start off on waymore of a positive note. I can't
(00:48):
open up with the depression. Wejust can't. We've had enough of it
this week. We got to moveon, at least for this segment.
So we're gonna start off talking aboutthe other main topic this week in the
football world, the college football playoffand how crazy everything with that was.
Obviously last week fantastic Conference championship Weekone, of the best. The final
(01:12):
Pac twelve championship game was fantastic.Washington gets it done again because Day's undefeated.
Good for them. Michael Phoenix Juniorfantastic. In my opinion, I
think I would vote for him forHeisman. Jalen Daniels is also has better
stats and is also fantastic, butI think I would go with Michael Phoenix
(01:33):
as he did a fantastic job layingthat Washington team of Oregon. The George
Alabama game was a classic, absolutelyfantastic game on both sides. Bama pulling
it out, Saban gets the jobdone. Michigan shuts out Iowa. If
anyone saw that promotion that bar outand towards Iowa did they did a promotion
where all drinks were free until Iowascored, and then they would start charging
(01:59):
for the drinks. Well, Iwouldn't score. That place had to go
bankrupt because man, that was rough. Just no signs of offense. You,
I'm telling you, want a painfulexistence in life, be an Iowa
football fan that loves offense, becausedear God, you're just never gonna be
satisfied. There's just nothing there forit. It is a painful painful existence,
(02:21):
just absolute insanity. I can't evenimagine what you go through with that.
But Michigan dominates in that game, and Texas beats up on Oklahoma State's
here the Big Twelve title. Thoseare the big games. Those were ones
that got the jobs done. Obviouslywe all know Florida State and Georgia left
(02:42):
out, really Florida State being theone that uh griping this week the committee,
I want to say they fully showedtheir hand, but what they did
was they showed that they prioritize ratings. You can argue, I can't even
say they did better four teams versusmost deserving because best four teams would include
Georgia. You're not gonna convince meotherwise that george is not one of the
(03:06):
best four teams in the country. You just not all right. I don't
think you convince any of those boardmembers either. I just don't buy it.
But what you get is you getthat it's about ratings and satisfying the
customer. The customer being all ofus the fans watching these games. Florida
State went undefeated, and by Imean again, undefeated ACC champion, undefeated
(03:29):
Power five conference winner. They've neverbeen left out. Why would they start
now? Well, the answer isbecause they would have been huge underdogs that
with a third string quarterback. Thatthat's the reason. I'm not saying it's
right, I'm not saying it's fair, but that's the reason. And guess
what. The matchups are better matchups. Now, if you had Florida State
(03:52):
versus Michigan, that's going to bea blow. It's going to be a
murder. Seriously, what's drawing youin to watch more? Is it Michigan
versus Florida Florida State or miss versusBanna. If any one of you out
there is saying Michigan Florida State, you either a didn't watch enough football this
year to make this decision reasonably oryou're lying to yourself you just are Hardball
versus Saban is the better, moreexciting matchup. Get is going to bring
(04:15):
more people in. Hell, Iam a lot more excited for that game.
Again, I'm not saying that's right. That's why the committee does it,
but I think we've all kind ofknown that for a long time.
Right, these people in these positionsof power, it's all driven by money,
and in sports, money's all drivenby ratings, so no one should
(04:35):
be shocked. It just shouldn't beshocked, especially last year when you got
the Now I mean you actually hadtwo fantastic one all time classic semi final
with Georgia versus Ohio State last year, but then the national championship game,
it was an absolute blowout and youlost to everybody at halftime because Georgia has
(04:58):
destroyed them all. Four of theseteams are pretty balanced. Like obviously there's
odds and ends, and we're gonnago through them in a second. But
I can make a case for anyof these four to win in which I
am shocked being able to say I'venever I only think I've been able to
say that in a college football playoff. Ever, I can say that this
time. I think there's a validcase to be made across the board.
(05:20):
Starting off, let's go to theRose Bawl Michigan versus Alabama. Michigan undefeated,
coming off that win off of offof Iowa, but right before that
Ohio State. Michigan has been absolutelydominant this season. There's no ifans or
butts about it. Their closest game. Let's pull this up. Let's look
at that Michigan schedule. Their closestgame was hold, please hold, please
(05:45):
hold, please do Uh that wasdumb. Their closest game no Ohio State
six. I guess that's it.That is their closest. Okay, so
Ohio State by six. Before that, Maryland by seven, Penn State by
nine. But then every other winis double digits and most of them absolutely
blowout murders. Michigan's been fantastic thisyear. Hardball will be back on the
(06:05):
sidelines. They've been up and downwith him being suspended this year, but
I shouldn't say the team's been upand down. The team has been great
all year. The consistently consistency onthe sideline of who is calling the plays,
who's the head coach has been changing, and it's you know, Michigan's
gonna be as stable as they've beenbecause he's not getting suspended now. You
(06:27):
know, they're not suspending for thesemi final of the final. No matter
what comes out, they'll wait fornext season. So really interesting there.
Alabama started off slow, obviously, had the loss to Texas early on the
number three seed, Bama coming inas a four, but Bama I got
even credit. I thought George wasgonna handle them. I really did.
I thought George was gonna come outthere and show, hey, we're Georgia,
We're here, We've won the lasttwo years. They didn't. Jalen
(06:49):
Milroe has been very, very solidthe second half of the year. After
Bama didn't have a quarterback in thefirst half, he established himself and has
been dominant, very solid player. And you got Nick Saban. You're always
gonna have a chance to win ifyou have Nick Saban in any game,
so that one's lining up to beinga fantastic contest. All the money's coming
in on Bama early. I admitI'm leaning Michigan. I think I think
(07:13):
it's a trap with Bama a littlebit. Michigan has been so dominant.
People are just used to the SECdomination. This year is not as much
an SEC dominate year. Just myopinion. It's a very good year for
the SEC again. They got ateam in. But think about it,
though, this was the first yearever that there was almost an SEC team
left out. There was it wasclose. I'm sure there was debates around
Florida State. We just broke thatpiece down, but it was close.
(07:36):
But I'm gonna go Michigan in thatone, I'll lay the one and a
half. It's really really close, really tight Nazi though, I'm probably gonna
hold that bet because more and moremoney is gonna keep coming in on Obama.
This is where the money's gonna go. Our other matchup in the Sugar
Bowl, Texas four and a halfpoint favorite over Washington. I'll tell you
right now, I like Washington.Washington is that kid that you keep underestimating,
(07:57):
but somehow, even though he's smalland doesn't really seem to fit in,
keeps winning. That's what Washington is. And Texas fantastic here. They
the one loss to Oklahoma, whichthey lost one game happens, but man,
they've been dominant and Texas's back Stevesarkisian fantastic job, a little bit
(08:18):
of a redemption story for him throughoutall his ups and downs in his coaching
career. But man, with QuinnEewers and all those guys, they have
a fantastic team Texas. But Iam going to lean Washington no. One,
especially getting catching four and a halfpoints, and that's another one.
I think the money's gonna keep comingon Texas. I will wait for Washington
to keep laying that spread. Buildup, it might get to five and
five and a half, maybe evensix by the end. So that's a
(08:39):
wait and play for me. Butgreat is we'll break those games down more
as we get closer. But that'sthe college Football Playoff for all that stuff.
It's they know what they play theircards. Ratings are what matters most.
And the funniest part of this iswhat I'll say, is for when
they're announcing the other games at theNew Year six, which obviously was gonna
(09:01):
have Florida State and Georgia in there, but they put them up against each
other. What is the Committee doingby doing that? They are putting Florida
State against the best team that theybelieve that the Committee has their hands on
left, which is Georgia, andGeorgia is a fourteen point favorite. The
Committee is praying that Florida State getstrounced because then it could be very easy
(09:24):
to justify their decision no if fansor buts about it, and by putting
them against Georgia, that is thebest odds for that to happen. What
I will say, though, isthe Committee opened themselves up to a world
of hell because if some miracle happensin Florida State beats Georgia. Who remember,
george is not going to have aton of motivation in this They're coming
(09:46):
off two national championships now, yetlook, the Orange Bowls a big game.
I get it, but this isnot a Schuetball semi final. Like,
it's not gonna be as juicy forGeorgia as these past years have been.
If Florida State finds a way towin this game, the Committee's gonna
look incredibly stupid. I was tryingto think of a word. I almost
(10:07):
said something. I'm like, I'mquestioning if I could say that, and
I don't want to get me orSean Brace in trouble, so I won't
say it. But man, thatwould be why it'd be absolutely soundy.
Now, I'm not saying I expectthat to happen. Georgia has so much
talent, and with the Noles quarterbacksituation, I do think Georgia will win
the game. But Florida State isgonna have all the motivation in the world
(10:28):
in that game, so fourteen mightbe too many. That's something I'll say
right now because all the motivations onthe Florida State side, and I think
in bowlseason motivation matters so much,so so much. Our other New Year's
Six bowls we got going on,the Fiesta Bowl, Liberty and Oregon a
similar concept here. Liberty the undefeatednon Power five team, uh, the
(10:52):
one non Power five team that getsthe New Year Six Bowl undefeated. The
committee puts them up against Oregon, who if they they were playing anybody not
named Washington. Oregon pretty much destroyedthem this year, and that is what
they're hoping happens here. Oregon's afifteen point favorite. Bo Nicks, I'm
not sure if I'm him, Iwould play in this one. Again.
There's Bow's probably gonna be at leasta second round pick in the NFL.
(11:15):
If I'm him, I'd have tolook at this. So if he plays.
If he does not play, fifteen'stoo high. Bonix is a hell
of a player. If I takehim off Oregon, fifteen I think might
might be too high here. Ifhe does play, fifteen is not enough
because he will use this as aaudition tape for NFL and just try to
put up numbers and show what hecan do, and in that case,
(11:37):
Oregon will dominate. I am evenright now, I'm not gonna play the
game with all those outstanding questions. But I would have to lean and take
an Oregon here, because yeah,I if bow Knicks plays, and even
if he doesn't, they still mightbe able to pull it off. But
if he does play, this isthis is a blowout. This is a
huge plot next New Year's Six Bowlto Cotton Bowl Missouri vers Ohio State.
(11:58):
Missouri two and a half points favoritetells you all you need to know.
That tells you all you need toknow. Missouri is going to win this
game. Ohio State is going tobe shorthanded, new quarterback, new receivers,
just really shorthanded, and Missouri isnot usually here has all the motivation
in the world. I don't thinkthis is a question that Missouri is going
to win this game. Probably myfavorite game of ball season right now as
(12:20):
I've looked to the board. Andwe'll talk more ball season Niche and every
week going through, but absolutely Ithink this is a blowout. And we'll
talk about Colum record transferring to secondas part of a larger topic and the
last Get Bowl game that we gotor the last New Year Six Bowl Penn
State versus All missed. Two coachesthat can't win the big games, Lane
Kiffin and James Franklin. Well, someone's gonna have to win a New Year
(12:41):
six game here. Penn Stan Andrewsis a three and a half point favorite,
and I'm a little surprised, honestlyPenn State's Penn State doesn't have a
big win this year. Just aI have family that are Knitney A Lions
fans. I Am not trying tohate on the Nitney Lions. But you
tell me what's the big Penn Statewin on this schedule. Let's see Penn
State's win this year. Wins thisyear, West Virginia, Delaware, Illinois.
(13:05):
I think the answer is Iowa. They beat them thirty one nothing,
that's a big win. But Iowawas again not a huge team here.
U Mass lost to Ohio State beatIndiana, beat Maryland, lost to Michigan,
Rutgers beat Rutgers, beat Michigan State. You tell me which of those
teams really impressed you. Iowa? All right, I'll step Scoring thirty one
(13:26):
points on Iowa was actually kind ofimpressive. But shutting out Iowa isn't like
that's just that is what it is. Yeah, but there's no dominant game
for Penn State. On this schedule, Whereas if I look at Ole Miss,
they got some good wins. Theybeat LSU. Actually, maybe I'm
a little thin here. They beatLSU, they beat Tulane. Tulane was
a good, good non Power fiveteam. But I might have spoke a
(13:50):
little to beat Texas A and Mbeat Mississippi State. All right, Admittedly,
you know what, I might havespoke a little too soon. There's
not a ton of high quality winshere on the Old Miss side either.
So these two teams below along witheach other, it is closer to a
home game for Old Miss Penn State. It's a little bit of a letdown.
I think Penn State this year thoughtthey were gonna have a chance to
be in that playoff and they're not. I think the motivations on Old Miss
aside too. I'll take the threeand a half there. But again we'll
(14:13):
break more of these downs we getcloser, especially with news about guys transferring
and declaring for the draft, Alot of emotion can happen here with these
games. The last thing I wantto talk about this first thing, with
the college game, we are we'vealready entered that new era of nil and
transfer portal and all that stuff. But we are seeing a real, i'll
(14:33):
call it on what do we wantto say, an unstoppable development, and
it's that college quarterbacks that are Iam going to say this again that are
college quarterbacks are not guys ready forthe NFL yet. And if they are,
you know, they're probably like afifth six round pick that you know,
maybe they were back up and that'sgreat, Hey, there's nothing against
(14:54):
that. Takes a hell of alot of skill to be a backup quarterback
in the NFL. But a lotof the these guys are realized like,
hey, I'm a college quarterback andI want to They're gonna keep trying to
play in college, but they realizethey can get paid if they go in
that transfer portal. We heard MattRule like about a month back say,
if you want a good quarterback inthe transport is gonna cost you about one
to two million dollars for a collegekid. That's that's the world we're in.
(15:18):
Hey, you know what, I'mnot against these kids. These kids
can get money, like that's goodfor them, but it is the world
we're in where guess what your favoriteteam's college qb. If he has a
good season you might decided that portalto go get some money at a much
higher rate than they used to befor both used to technically not be able
to get money out of it.But let me rattle off a few names
here, Dylan Gabriel, Kyle McCord, Will Rogers, Tyler Van Dyke,
(15:41):
Graceon McCall, dj Uey, AlilaCamera, Ward, Will Howard, Dante
Moore, Riley Leonard. You mightrecognize all those names. You might recognize
some of those names. If youdon't recognize any of those names, you
didn't watch that much college football thisyear, which, hey, that's your
prerogative. But those are some bigtime college quarterbacks on programs are ranked in
(16:02):
the top twenty five, led themto very solid seasons. Most notable is
probably Kyle McCord, at least histeam's most notable of Ohio State, where
he's transferring out. Riley Leonard,a duke, had a great start to
the season. Djumla, formerly aClemson, played this past season at Oregon
State. All these guys are inthe transfer portal, some of them already
(16:22):
committed to new schools. But it'swild that it's really just, hey,
I'm going to transfer I'm gonna getpaid, and I'm going to go to
potentially whoever's give me the highest dollar. And hey, it's empowering kids to
take control of their own careers, which I'm fine with. I get it.
I support it, but realize itdoes change college football. You're not
going to see as many guys stayingfour years. You're really not, especially
(16:44):
with these guys just taking off thatquick. I mean Will Rogers was in
Mississippi State Staple, one of thebiggest pastors in the program's history. Go
on, Tyler Van Dyke with Miami, same idea. I it's just a
lot. Dylan Gabriel, Now,Dylan Gabriel was at Oklahoma Bell it was
at UCF before that. He wentto Oklahoma and now he's transferring again.
(17:08):
People just leave, they're going toget paid, and it is a new
era of college football. Uh,we're gonna take a quick break here,
We're gonna come back. We're gonnatalk. You know, we might save
we might save birds. Talk forlast you. Oh yeah, when we
come back. Let's know what. You'll figure it out on the other side
when we get back. But righthere on Balls, Bats and Bets on
Fox Sports, the gambler spreads totalsand all the prop bets in between.
(17:32):
It's the Gambler, welcome welcome back, Ball's bats and bets here on this
beautiful Friday night. By beautiful,I mean it is freezing outside. I
also had a little bit of myI'm called old man moment earlier, where
so later tonight I'm going out. There's a there's an event called Emo Night
(17:56):
that me and my at the timegirlfriend and now wife, we've gone to
several Emo Knights. I don't thinkwe've gone since we've been married, but
uh, it's a fun time. You know. They just play all rock
music and all that stuff like that. It's a good time. So we're
going to that going with some friends. And yesterday I'm texting her it's like,
oh, yeah, what time isit? What time is Emo Night?
And I'm like, again, knowingI'm doing the show, like it
couldn't be that early, but alsolike you know, I was expecting,
(18:18):
you know, maybe like a nineor ten. The thing doesn't start to
eleven, And I had the oldman moment of just being like what I
It honestly threw me back, andapparently they've always started eleven and I'm just
not remembering any of this now,but as officially apparently, old man Tim
now to start something at eleven isabsolute madness. I just I mean,
(18:42):
it'll be a good time. We'regonna have fun, but man, I'm
gonna be tired tomorrow. That's say. Yeah, sorry, that's my that's
my uh Tim realizing his old quickrant and speaking of other rants, let's
just rip this band aid off.I haven't got a chance to talk to
you guys yet. Eagle. Well, they're gonna start with the Eagles forty
nine ers last week, then diveinto Eagles Cowboys. But last week there's
(19:04):
not a ton left to say thatyou haven't already heard. It was arguably
the biggest embarrassment regular season game thatI can remember for the Eagles in terms
of like a team that we believeis a great team to just not show
up at all. It was painful. You had, you had the first
quarter of your way, but you'venever capitalized and got that end zone,
(19:26):
got into the end zone, andit called obviously they it cost us all
of a sudden, you're down reallyquick because the forty nine ers did convert
in the endzon when they got theirchances, and we just got outplayed,
really in all aspects of the game. We got outplayed. Debo talked,
you know what, and we didn'thit him at all. We barely touched
(19:47):
him. He found the enzone.McCaffrey and their run game was just really
unstoppable in the second half. Itwas painful, just absolutely painful game to
be watching there. Look the coolThe main question, can the Eagles get
past the forty nine ers or theforty nine ers and an immovable object.
(20:10):
They're gonna be favored. That's whatI'll say right now, kind of regardless
of what happens the rest of theyear, even if the game is in
Philly, if we get to uhwhat it'd be like late January, they'll
be favored. If in the NFCChampionship game, now the Eagles they can
win, they still can win,but after what we just saw, yeah,
(20:30):
a middle light, it has mequestioning if we're able to get there.
Which is why when you think aboutlike how important like the Super Bowl
was last year in that run againa great run, fantastic run by the
team, and I think we kindof underestimated the importance of that loss.
And again I'm not trying to saythat we didn't like everyone cared that we
(20:52):
lost a Super Bowl. Please don'ttake that. That's not what I'm saying.
But I think there was an assumptioncoming out of that, Oh,
we'll be back, And I thinkwe will at some point. I think
the Jalen Sirianni combo gets back there, but it's absolutely not a guarantee.
I don't know this year you getto that game, forty nine ers are
probably going to be five to sixpoint favorites in our building based on what
(21:15):
happened here. Now, again, there's a lot of time between here and
now and things can shift, butI'm just telling you the way I see
it as that's going right now.Yeah, this is a real, real
important time for the Eagles to stepup and get to get that game out
of their memory and get going. And we'll have to deal with the forty
nine ers when we get there, and who knows, maybe they get knocked
(21:36):
off early in the playoffs by someonein a shocking upset. But what is
important now, I'm gonna rip offthe bandy. We're done with the forty
nine ers stock what's important now isgetting to this Eagles Cowboys game. Division.
It can be locked up with anEagles win. It might I mean
not technically mathematically, but for lackof you know, an insane finished by
(21:56):
the Birds. This would lock upthe division, which guarantees you at least
one home game. And really itwouldn't guarantee the second seed. The Lions
are right there too. But whatit does is it really saves you from
ever having anything about being the fiveseed. Because all of a sudden,
the Cowboys win this game, thefive seed is absolutely in play. Sadly
(22:18):
it is. It becomes really inplay because you can't have if the Cowboys
with a division, the best wecan be is five. Now, Dak's
been playing fantastic. They looked greatlast Thursday night. Oh I shouldn't say.
The defense didn't look great. TheSeahawks put up some numbers on him,
but Dak looked fantastic. That offenseis good. Ceedee Lamb to Dak
connection is really solid. And afterwhat we just saw with Perty and Debo,
(22:41):
we got to find a way toshut down number one target slayh Brad
Burry, whoever's covering him. We'repaying you guys. You guys are all
pro corners. The parts of yourcareer Pro Bowl corners. We need to
see a step off. I'm notseeing a shut down seed Lamb. You're
not going to completely shut him down. You got to limit him. Can
I ask for under one hundred yards? That doesn't seem that crazy a thing
(23:04):
to ask, but realistically, theway he's been killing it, it is
gonna be tough to do so,so shutting down Ceedee Lamb is really my
number one priority in this game becausehe of how dominant he was in the
first rep matchup that we had andhow dominant he's been since. That guy
is an absolute elite receiver. Nextmost important thing the Eagles offense has got
to get some rhythm behind it.It really is. We need some sort
(23:27):
of rhythm out of the Birds offense. Like last week, even if I
even if I get rid of lastweek, this offense hasn't flowed the way
it did in my last season. It just hasn't. And it's not how
do I put it, It's notlike what's the word. It's not that
we're not a we're not putting upnumbers because we are, but the efficiency
(23:51):
and just rhythm's not their rhythm,I guess is the best word. It's
not consistent. Obviously, AJ Brown'sat times had been dominant and he's getting
the ball and he's tempered off alittle bit. The running game specifically has
disappeared, right, And maybe that'sreally the biggest cause here is we just
have to get back to the rungame and find some way to do that.
Is that DeAndre Swifts had too manytouches and he's breaking down. Maybe
(24:12):
is it that the offensive lines notquite as good as we thought. Maybe
is it just a scheme issue wherehey, we're not doing the right balance
or calling the right runs. Maybethere's a lot of maybes out here,
and it's tough to isolate when youhave so many things happening on a single
football play and throughout a game, especially if you're not trying to isolate it
to single plays. It's difficult tobe able to figure this out. But
(24:34):
what we know is the Eagles rungame hasn't been there, and that's disrupted
the rhythm because then if everyone knowsthe pass is coming, it really limits
it. Jalen Hurts, the onething I'll take is a positi about it.
Last week, he did seem tohave his full mobility back, and
that is big. Hopefully he cankeep that for the Cowboys game coming up,
where he's able to hold on tothat mobility, because that is a
(24:55):
huge part of this run game aswell. Having to be able to run
the RPOs where it could be thequarterback or the running back running makes that
so much more variable, gives anextra dynamic to the offense. And when
Jalen was hurt playing with that bracefor a little bit, you didn't fully
have it. Hopefully he's able tohold on to it. I'd be lying
if I said I wasn't a littlescared going into this matchup. Cowboys three
(25:15):
and a half point favorite as we'retalking right now, go on some fifteen
game win streak at home. Itis tough to win down there. If
any team can do it, Ido believe in this Eagles team. That
being said, after what we sawlast week, it is a kick in
the gut and you have to wonderif they're gonna be on a bounce back
up. I'm nervous about this one. If you make me call it,
(25:36):
I sadly will say the Eagles probablysplit this year with the Cowboys, which
isn't that's what you we kind ofexpect going into the year, right,
it's not a bad year if you'vesplit with the Cowboys. Not what we
want. We all want two andoh. But division games, we know
how they go. A lot ofteams split and that is what it is.
It's nature of the beast. SoI'm a little nervous. My official
prediction, I'm gonna go with twentyfour twenty one Cowgirls sucks. And I
(26:00):
really hope I'm wrong. I reallyhope that we get this run game going.
I really hope I'll build this up. But you know, a little
nervous. But hey, if theEagles can get this win, it does
seal up the division. And justbecause you lose it does not mean that
you've given away the division. Iwant to emphasize that the Eagles still have
very good shot in the division towin the division if even if they lose
this week. Based on the schedulescoming up, Dallas goes into they have
(26:22):
Buffalo and Miami, whereas the Eaglesrun into Seattle, who's eh, and
then you got two with the Giantsand the Cardinals in the middle of it.
So a lot of good space. The Eagles schedule after this does get
pretty favorable, and actually I wantto take a quick second to rant about
the Seattle game. Feel bear withme because me and my friends we do
(26:44):
an Eagles trip each year and thetrip is really you know, we base
the week on this round. Hey, when can most people make it?
You know, the destination obviously factorsin, but it's about, you know,
going out with the guys, havinga fun time. And this year
in lined up. Hey, everybodycould do the Seattle week. So nothing
says like beautiful vacation like Seattle inDecember. I get that that's where we're
going. And the NFL and RogerGoodell implement this rule back in you know,
(27:08):
I guess it was July ish JuneJuly that they can flex games from
Sunday to Monday. And admittedly,me being mister paranoia, I did choose
the flight and a couple of myfriends are on there with me. Where
Hey, god forbid, if theyactually do flex an Eagles game from Sunday
to Monday, we'll be good. We're leaving on the Red Eye on Monday
(27:30):
nights. We're gonna go straight fromthe game to the airport. But I
have guys that are doing this tripnow that can't go to the game because
the NFL screwed them over. TheNFL is telling the people at the games,
hey, I don't care about younearly as much as I care about
the people watching it at home onTV, which I get. It's all
money driven. I've talked about itbefore. Everything is money driven. I
(27:52):
fully get that. But that beingsaid, man, that is a kick
in the face to your season ticketholders. It's a kick in the face
to anyone traveling with their team todo this. Roger Goodell like, that's
it's a it's a jerk move.It really is. It's saying I don't
care about the fans that are outthere tailgating, that are out there at
the stadium actually like giving an impacton the game, and that is that's
(28:18):
a little it's honestly a little disgusting. I mean, the NFL done a
lot of things that aren't ideal. They are the biggest juggernaut in sports,
at least obviously in the US,and they still will be like, this
is not gonna lose that many people. In fact, I'm sure a lot
of people like it because a lotof people didn't want to have to watch
the Patriots on Monday Night football.I get that, but still you are
screwing over fans and this is thefirst of its kind, but they're gonna
(28:40):
keep doing it, and especially canyou imagine when they start moving games from
Sunday to Thursday. That's gonna happen. It's coming. I know they voted
that down this year. That's absolutelycoming, especially with that Amazon money on
Thursday night. So I'm sorry, disgusting move by the NFL in my opinion,
to allow this. And it's notjust look obviously it's directly impacting me
in some friends, so I'm gonnahave a little more anger about it.
(29:03):
But to actually like pull the triggeron this and move a game from Sunday
to Monday insanity, absolute insanity. But here we are. Last thing in
this thing I want to talk aboutbetting wise relates to last week, but
is separate betting on an NFL MVP. Just bet week to week like the
(29:26):
guy in fourth or fifth place, because all you need is one game.
Then all of a sudden they bumpup, like the example Brock Party.
Brock Party two weeks ago was fifteento one, now is three to one.
Jalen Hurts. You know, ifI back up to week two to
three, he was probably five sixto one, and then he became three
to one. Like everyone just jumpsup and down based on a recent week.
It's you're betting on what writers aregoing to think. Excuse me,
(29:47):
and no one knows what retter's gonnathin because they can change their mind in
the last second. Let's go tothose latest mvprs right now, just to
just to get everybody a little thoughtprocess here. So if I go back
here, let's see freezing up.Oh excuse me, got the hiccups on
a radio show. That's not theideal time. But we're gonna figure out
what we're gonna power through. It'sthe latest NFL MVP odds pulling up.
(30:11):
Now, let's see season awards. There we go. So yeah, so
Dak and brock Purty tied at threeto one, Jailing at three and a
half, Mahomes seven seven to one, Two at eight to one, Lamar
at eight to one. I'll behonest, if I and actually Tyree Kill
at fourteen to one, it won'tbe Tyree Kill. They're not going to
give it to him. But heis having a phenomenal season this week.
(30:34):
I'd sprinkle a little bit on Lamarto and Mahomes, cause all it takes
is for one of them to havea good game and then they'll be righting
the three to one conversation. Andit's wild how that happens. Here.
Also, give a little, Givea little love. C J. Stroud
at twenty five to one, JoshAllen thirty to one, Jordan Love at
one hundred and fifty to one. That's the that's where we get the big
jump off. But Jordan Love gettinga little respect. Sheley's still showing up
(30:59):
on this list, which is prisingto me. Ba. So the NFL
MVP, it's the most fluctuating award, Like do not ever bet the favorite
until maybe the last week if you'rereally convinced that's the guy, because any
week it just changes. It fluctuatesbased on what people are betting on,
not actually on any logic. That'smy small little rant there when I come
when we come back, we gotNFL picks for the weekend, we're gonna
go through the whole slate, uh, breaking down all the games. So
(31:22):
we'll do that, uh right hereon balls, back, hits, bats
and bets when we come back onthe Fox Sports The Gambler right for this
the Gambler, Philly's home for allthings sports gambling. Okay, closing segment,
we got coming up here, andyou know what that means. Time
to go through some picks. We'reactually going to do a little different this
week now that we've lost excuse me, lost our I got those hiccups,
(31:44):
man, We're gonna get rid ofthosehiccups before the end of this segment.
Now that we got rid of thecollege, the full slate for college,
we do have Army Navy this weekendup in Boston this year a little different
or Foxborough however you want to callit interesting. You know, always bet
the under, that's what history says, always bet the under an Army Navy.
But we shall see if that holdstrue. And it's always an exciting
(32:07):
regardless of how many points are scored. Again, I've gone multiple times and
it's in Philly. It's fantastic,Absolutely love it. This year not in
Philly, so well, we'll notbe attending, but hey, tune into
that on Saturday. But what we'regonna go through is we're going to have
the full slate of college or excuseme, of NFL football. We want
to talk through and look at certaingames I like a lot more than others,
(32:29):
but we'll give you a play ineach game. So starting off,
going through, what's gonna go throughthe slate in order? Texans Verse Jets
total thirty three and a half.Zach Wilson back as a starter for the
Jets. I'm not Zach Wilson's notgood, let me get that clear.
But let me also say this, the Jets offensive line is bad enough where
(32:49):
unless it's Aaron Rodgers or some sortof stud, they're gonna have problems.
That's just the case. That iswhat it is. So it's not all
Zach Wilson's fault. That's that's whatI feel pretty confident saying that being said,
I don't love them this weekend.Even with Zach Wilson magnant spot three
and a half points little shaky towardsme. I'm actually I'm gonna go with
the over in this game, whichis a little shocking for a Jets game.
(33:12):
But thirty three and a half,I think the Jets will put up
some points with Zach back there, and CJ. Strouden Company will put up
decent numbers in that game. Thirtythree and a half is a little too
low. For me, I'm gonnago over thirty three and a half in
that game. Next up, Rams, Ravens that one in Baltimore seven and
a half Ravens. Our favorite totalis forty. Rams are in the midst
of the playoff race. Like surprising. I know they're five hundred, A
(33:34):
little bit of a surprise after theway they started this year. That being
said, they've struggled against good teamsthis year. Let me reach off the
teams that the Rams have beaten versusthe ones that the Rams have lost to.
And it starts off teams at Ramshave beaten Seahawks alright, Colts,
all right, Cardinals, Seahawks again, Cardinals, Browns, not a ton
(33:55):
of quality teams. They've lost toSteelers, Cowboys, Packers, Eagles,
Bengals, forty nine Bengals when theyhad Burrow, and they haven't been particularly
close in their last three losses. Now, granted they're on a three game
win streak. I think this getsa little ugly. I think the Ravens
are gonna be able to dominate thisgame and run all over them. Lamar
has a big day. I'll goRavens minus seven and a half there.
(34:15):
Next up, Colts, and Bengals. I'm all over the Colts here.
Bengals are a two point favorite, but the Jake Browning Show is going to
end like he had a great, great fun Monday night. Short week for
the Bengals. Colts are in themidst of the playoff for ACE. So
are the Bengals technically, but theJake Browning Show is going to come to
a stop. Colts win this game. Gardner has a pretty decent day putting
(34:37):
up some numbers. Give me theColts on the road there. Jags versus
Browns, This one's Brown's by threetotal of thirty two and a half.
Both those numbers telling you that TrevorLawrence likely isn't to play. He hasn't
been officially ruled out yet, butdoesn't feel like he's going to play.
High ankle sprain. I think it'sTheirs trying to hold out all hope they
can until last minute. Browns aregood at winning ugly games. They win
with defense. They went the rungame. This feeds into their hands.
(34:58):
If Lawrence is out, it's gonnabe an adjustment period for the Jags.
I think it's Browns minus three isyour play. The total slight lean under
there as well, but I'm myofficial play there will be Browns minus three,
Lions minus three and a half versusthe Bears. Everything spread wise is
telling you this a trap game forthe Lions. I'm not buying it.
Bears had their shot at them lasttime and they blew it. I get
(35:19):
that game was in Detroit. Thisone's in Chicago. The Bears aren't a
good team, the Lions are.Lions aren't great, The Lions are a
good team. I think Lions getup for this game, remembering last time
how they almost blew a game tothe Bears and they blow them out.
Three and a half's not enough points. Give me the Lions there to win
that one. Bucks and Falcons good, good game that has playoff implications on
that NFC South Falcons right now leadingthe division with the Bucks and the Saints
(35:42):
one game behind. Bucks are sorry, Falcons, excuse me, are one
and a half point favorites. Thetotal in that one is sitting at forty
one. My gut opinion here,I think is a good, honestly one
of the better games we see onSunday. I think it's gonna be a
good, pretty good show. I'mleaning it under give me. I think
I'm taking the under here in BucksFalcons. I think I think it's a
(36:02):
defensive kind of matchup. Falcons offensedoesn't scare me at all. Bucks are
a little reckless at times where theycan put up numbers but also turn the
ball over, So that is thescary part for taking the under. But
I think they play a little morecontained in this week especially, and this
is really a If the Bucks lose, it's a big, big hit for
them to be able to make theplayoffs. This is kind of a must
win for the Bucks. I thinkto play a little more conservative holding onto
(36:24):
that ball. Give me the underforty one in that one. Next up,
Panther Saints Saints five point favorite. No teams let me down more this
year than the Saints, I'll saythat right now. The Saints have been
my Achilles heel. I keep believingin them. I like the defense,
I like the weapons on offense.I've liked Derek car for his career,
(36:45):
but he obviously hasn't had it andit's clearly his brother saying that Marcus Mariot
is better than Jalen hurts the Eaglesright now. It's something pretty much insanity.
So I don't know if I wasrunning in the family or something's in
the car house's water. But thatbeing said, I'm not gonna if I'm
not going to play this personally,I'll tell you that right now. I'm
not going to play this game personally, but I would The Saints would be
(37:07):
the play. I would lay thefive points in. The Saints in New
Orleans, Carolina had a good gamelast week, still lost. They still
lost the game, but they hada good game where they played. They
lost by three to the Bucks.I think the Saints blow them out and
they're coming. The Panthers had theirlittle spurt of the we fired the coach
game. Now back down to reality. All over the well, I shouldn't
(37:27):
say all over Saint because I'm goingto say away because theyve burn me too
much. Yeah, you know me. I'll probably put a couple of shekels
on there as we get to aswe get to Sunday, but Saints minus
five would be my play in thatone. Vikings versus Raiders Vikings three points
favorites on the road and the totalis forty. Both teams kind of technically
still in the playoff race. TheVikings absolutely are Raiders they win all of
(37:47):
a sudden, they get a littlethey kind of they're kind of right there,
and they've been playing a lot bettersince Josh McDaniel firing. Both these
teams coming off of bye I'm eyeingup the Raiders at home here. I
know it's a little surprising. TheVikings have had a resurgent kind of season
since Josh Dobbs came out took overfor Kirk Cousins when he went down on
that trade. But something about theRaiders here, you know, I think
(38:10):
eight O'Connell's been playing pretty decent outof there, and they're something here.
I don't know what it is,but I want to take the three point
dog with the Raiders at home.Just keep playing relatively hot since the Josh
McDaniel firing. Next game up,we got Seahawks versus forty nine ers.
I know after and the totals fortyseven. I know what you're going to
(38:31):
say, after what we saw lastweek, that I'm crazy here. I
am going to be all over theSeahawks plus eleven division game. We all
know division games bring out kind ofa little extra extra meet and you get
a little craziness that you might notnormally get to These teams know each other
so well. San France coming offa huge high, a huge high of
(38:53):
beating the Eagles and now kind ofestablishing themselves as Super Bowl favorites. Seattle's
getting extra rest. They played onThursday night last next week, and oh
what's the other point? And it'sa big Seattle needs this game to really
stay in the playoff race, likethey kind of need this win. I'm
not saying they're gonna win the game, but I think they hold this to
within eleven. I am all overSeattle to keep this game relatively close.
(39:15):
Give me Seattle plus eleven in thatone. The next game, next game,
big, big matchup at the beginningof the year. You but I
thought not as big now because Buffalois struggle. But Bill's versus Chiefs.
Chiefs are one and a half pointfavorites at home. That spread is telling
you it's Buffalo. I'm not playingaside in this matchup, but that's spread
is screaming Buffalo. That's all say. There totals forty eight and a half.
That total is way too high.Give me the under all day.
(39:37):
This is an all day under gamefor me. Chiefs are a defensive team
this year. I know, withPatrick Mahomes that's crazy to say and might
sound blasphemous, but Chiefs are adefensive team. Buffalo's offense has been reckless,
inconsistent. I think this is amuch more defensive game than people are
gonna be thinking of, because whenyou think of these teams, you think
of that playoff game is a fewyears back, whereas this back and forth,
(39:58):
back and forth offenses that's not happeningthis week. Give me under forty
eight and a half in that oneBroncos versus Chargers. Chargers favored by two
and a half, which is prettysurprising given how they've played this season,
but at five and seven, they'restill in the playoff race. Our total
is forty four. Bronco's coming offa heartbreaking loss to the Texans where they
(40:20):
almost had to come back and reallyhad huge playoff implications there. You know,
I'm shocked I'm saying this. Islight leaned the Chargers at home here,
laying the two and a half.Even though the Bronco has been playing
better and more consistent. Slight leaningthe Chargers that they're not quite out of
this playoff race yet, so thatit's a slightly in play. I will
say I'll go Chargers. I'm probablynot laying the two and a half.
(40:40):
I'll probably buy up the money lineand just take them at the minus one
thirty five on the money line. But I'll say they defend home turf,
even though it's the worst home fielda vantage in all the football. Lastly,
coming up double header, we alreadycovered Eagles Cowboys. That's a Sunday
night game. The Monday night doubleheader games got Titans first. Dolphins Dolphins
thirteen point favorites. Titans are MikeVrabel's not a thirteen point favor very often,
(41:06):
and that's because he's a damn moodcoach. But when he is,
that tells you something's up. Iexpect the Dolphins to dominate this game.
I am laying the third team ofthe Dolphins. I don't think Bill Levis
can keep up with Tua and Tyreek, and I think Miami just slaughters him.
I think the offense is just toodamn good. And last game we
got Packers Giants. Call me crazyagain. You know this might just be
(41:28):
to call me crazy show for TimO'Keeffe, But Packers Giants I kind of
buy into the Devido magic that theGiants can stay in this game. Giants
are getting six and a half points. I also don't fully buy into the
Packers yet, if that's something Iwas like again, Jordan loves him playing
pretty well. They look good onThanksgiving, but I don't know. I
don't buy fully into that Packers yet. It's in New York, or excuse
(41:49):
me, in Joys, where deVido's got his Gabba ghoul and all that
good stuff going. I buy it. I think Tommy DeVito covers the six
and a half with the Giants, big game out of Saquon forcing up there
and the Packers. Packers might winthe game, but I'm going to take
the six and a half of theGiants on Monday Night. That's all I
got. Everybody ran through that NFLslate relatively quick. I'll give you the
let me give you the picks again. I'll run through the picks, no
(42:10):
more breakdown. Jets, Texans giveme the over thirty three and a half
Rams, Ravens Ravens minus seven anda half. Colts Bengals give me the
Colts plus two Jags Browns with atotal thirty two and a half. Give
me the Browns minus three. Alsolike that total under Lions minus three and
a half versus the Bears. That'smy play there. Bucks Falcons will take
(42:34):
under forty one Panthers Saints. I'mlaying the five points with the Saints.
You know, God bless me.I need the Saints to come through one
of these days. Vikings Raiders.Give me the Raiders plus three in that
one. Seattle versus San Fran. You know, I know it's crazy.
Bounce back game for Seattle, letdowngame for San Fran. Give me Seattle
plus eleven in that one. Bill'sversus Chiefs. Give me under the total
(42:58):
of forty eight and a half.Broncos chart Argers. I will take the
Chargers minus two and a half. And actually, you know what, just
call that the money line. Let'sjust do a Chargers money line. Monday
night. We got Titans first,Dolphins gonna be Dolphins minus thirteen. And
lastly, Timmy DeVito closing this outcan be Giants plus six and a half
to close out our NFL slate. That is going to wrap it up for
us tonight here everybody as always, balls bats and bets every Friday night here
(43:22):
on the Gambler I actually want ofa show next Friday night, so I
shouldn't say every Friday night because I'llbe away, but always love hanging out
with everybody here. Stay tuned tothe Gambler all year long. Again,
I was gonna say season long, but it's all seasons. We got everything
covered from Sean Barnhard doing awesome stuffwith basketball, Luke Arcane on baseball,
John and Sean, both of thoseguys absolutely killing it with John on the
(43:42):
line change and Daily Ticket and thenshown with the Daily Ticket. Is so
many great things going on in thisstation, and there's other great guys out
there to Roy Burton Fantasy. Everybody'sgot some beef upfront. Everyone's got some
good stuff. Great group of guys. Keep listening, stay tuned. I'll
be back to you guys next week. Have a great weekend.
