For national winners. From a localperspective, you're in the right place.
It's balls, bats and bets withTim o'keee right here on the Gambler,
just like Rebecca Black would say,It's Friday Friday, everybody. If you
if you're from the same generation asme and you get that, I'm sorry,
awful joke. If you're not, then consider yourself lucky and that you

(00:22):
don't get it. Welcome in,do balls, bats and bets everyone,
And it's a big show. Thisis We are going to take a little
bit of a break after this show. We're gonna take off three weeks.
I'm actually I'm getting married next Friday. Pretty wild, crazy stuff going on
our personal life. We're not gonnatalk too much about that, as you
guys, I don't we don't needto do a ton of personal stuff.

(00:44):
You guys don't care. But I'mjust gonna let you know, no show
for the next three weeks. We'llbe back right towards the end of the
end of June, right around thefourth of July. But that means we
got to get into a lot alot tonight as we're going in with all
the things going on in the sportsworld, NBA Finals, NH Stanley Cup
Finals, Phillies, and the restof the MLB. Just so many things

(01:06):
going on, and I'm gonna startright off with that hometown team here,
the Phillies with I mean, really, we're coming up on calling this what
is It's a disaster. It's beenan absolute disaster so far this year.
The Phillies are currently sitting coming intonight at twenty five and thirty one,

(01:27):
twenty five and thirty one, andthat's pretty terrible. That's in line with
teams like the Cubs who are twentyfour and thirty one right behind you,
the Cincinnati Reds twenty six and twentynine, they're actually better than us,
The Giants twenty eight and twenty eight, they're five hundred, the Rockies one

(01:51):
of the worst teams, twenty fourand thirty four. Like, we're closer
to those teams than the teams weshould be competing with, which are you
know, the Braves at thirty threeand twenty three, the Mets already and
twenty seven, who obviously just sweptus in their own building and now just
kind of open up that lead onus. Now we're down five and a
half games to them, down eightand a half to Atlanta. It's been
a disaster. How are the PittsburghPirates a twenty eight and twenty seven?

(02:14):
Like? What the hell has happenedhere? This team has way too much
talent to be having this. It'squite frankly awful season. I know we
had the Bryce Harper injury. Iknow we have other injuries and the pitching
staff. Ranger wasn't here for along time. Alvarado has been out now,
Andrew Painter has been hurting. Youwere banking on him. I get

(02:37):
injuries on an Injuries happened to everybody, so we need to stop using that
as an excuse. This team hasbeen just an absolute disaster. And I
guys, look I'm starting I'm notthere yet, but I always say,
look, i'd start looking the standings. A Memorial Day that was last weekend,
that's in the past. So nowwe're looking at the standings and it's
ugly. It's really ugly because you'redone eight games to the division to a

(03:00):
Braves team where you have a kunareplaying the probably the best season of his
life, and the Braves is,you know, doing what the Braves do.
There's a good year in, yearout, and they they don't need
to rebuild this retool little things hereand there to make their club better and
better. It's extremely frustrating because now, yeah, so now the Braves can
know what they're doing. We're probablynot getting the division again. There's still

(03:22):
time. I get it. Somepeople are gonna be saying, Tim,
what are you talking about that's Junefirst or executing the June second. You
have plenty of time, and you'reright. Obviously the math works out.
The Phillies went out, that wasthe division. Yeah, I got you,
but this teams have shown me nosigns of life at all for driving
the forward and everyone I know.Let's start with Trey Turner. I know

(03:47):
he's a slow starter. I getit. I get his career, he's
a slow starter, but this isthe slowest start in his career, a
guy who is known for being oneof the best contact hitters in baseball.
I believe he's hitting two forty sa little bit below. I think it
was two thirty nine. I sawyesterday. What the hell is this?

(04:08):
Mister? Three hundred million dollars?I get it, like guys, don't
guy, I said this show twoweeks ago. I get it. Takes
time for guys who adjusted their newecosystem. They move. You get a
big contract, you don't always seeit in the first year. I fully
get that, but blow two fortiesunacceptable. Like you, the pop's not
there obviously. We saw five homersin the World Baseball Classic. I think

(04:28):
he's tied that in his first twomonths as a Philly. I can live
without the pop. I don't needthirty home runs. I don't, which
I honestly think Trey Turner's capable of. I do. I think he's been
growing the power over his last coupleyears. I think it's there potentially,
but it's not going to happen thisyear. And I can't accept that he
needs to be a two eighty hitter, and that's bare bones. Two eighty

(04:51):
with twenty home runs is not whatit That's not what we paid for.
We paid for a lot better thanthat, But that's what we need to
get to as a bare minimum tobe able to compete in this division and
really just fight for the wild card. He's got to wake up. It's
it's unacceptable. Do I think he'sgonna wake up and play better? Yes?
Do I think it's gonna be whatwe pay for no, at least

(05:15):
not this year. I think it'sgonna be a next year thing, which
is extremely frustrating. I mean theAlvarado injury. Obviously, the bullpen that
does hurt. Your bullpen has actuallybeen really good. That's the one thing
we can say recently, the bullpenhas been pretty fantastic. I think the
second lowest era since the beginning ofMay, if I'm not mistaken. So
the bullpen has actually been pretty good. So I can't complain about the bullpen.

(05:36):
Aaron Nola goes out on the let'sstart the other to night. You
know, it's not terrible, sixsittings, four runs, but we lost,
And it's just Nola's cold career. It's been one year up, one
year down, and obviously right nowthis is a down year for him.
It's a contract year, so badtiming for a bad down year. Obviously

(05:59):
him in the fillers from the negotiatingin the off season and all of a
sudden, I don't know how doI put it. It seems like Nolan
might have made a mistake depending onhow much the Phillies offered him. I
haven't seen any official numbers of whathe got offered. They didn't let that
leak out. But if I'm thePhillies right now, whatever I had offered,
it's a little bit lower because he'snot showing up. I do I

(06:20):
believe Aaron Nola will be a goodpitcher again in his career. Absolutely.
I think Aaron Nola is an ace. I do. He's an extremely frustrating
age, but he has the talentto win a CI young But this season,
I don't know, it's just extremelyfrustrating. He's just not getting the
job done. And I think hecalls himself potentially a lot of money.

(06:41):
We'll find out. I don't know, depending, We're never gonna know this.
It was behind closed doors, whateverthe offer was. But right now,
if you're Aaron Noel's aging, youhave to be looking saying, yeah,
that number that they offered before, probably it was pretty good. Again,
don't know what it was, butit's definitely lower now we'll see.
It's still early. Still can turnaround, still can get better. And

(07:02):
I love Aaronola. I really I'man Aaronola defender, Like I do,
think he's gonna get a little bitbetter this year, but it does.
It is just what he does. It's a year up year down thing unfortunately,
and now I want to dive intowhat I think is the potentially the
biggest al alcoholic, the elephant inthe room. Kyle Schober, Kyle,

(07:27):
I love you to death. He'shitting one sixty. This was going into
tonight, one sixty with thirteen homeruns, twenty seven RBIs forty walks pretty
good. Seventy strikeouts absurd number. He's had one hundred ninety four bats.
So you guys can do the maththere. Not quite fifty percent, but

(07:49):
way over a third for his strikeoutsstrikeout right, only five dollars ops at
six ninety nine. It's I justdon't know what to say with this.
I get it, and now it'swhat. Now we're in June, right,
and I think this is the thingthat's actually really frustrating. I want
to dive into. I know thestats, I know history, says Kyle

(08:13):
Schober. In June is essentially thereincarnation of Babe Ruth. I get it
over the last two June's, hesaid, twenty eight home runs. Do
as a Phillies fan, do Ihope and pray that that happens again?
Of course I do, of courseI do. I mean, look,
there is history support it. Iget it. But the idea that everyone's

(08:35):
just assuming that because the calendar isnow saying June instead of May, that
Schober's going to be just fine.I hate to break it to you.
That's not how this all works. It's just not it could happen, but
then they back of it could happen. But the idea of banking on this
is this bade strategy. It isI there's a chance. It's just hey,

(08:58):
this is not his year and heused to figure something out. And
what happens now we get to theend of June, and if we don't
have you know, ten home runsin June, I mean, based on
his last two years average, there'sactually a down month, which is wild.
But let's say, you know,we get to July first and brightness
and out right now he's sitting onesixty. Let's say he's hitting one sixty

(09:20):
five, one seventy instead of thirteenhome runs, he's at you know,
let's say he's at twenty. Seriously, let's say as seven home runs and
still winning one sixty five. That'snot good. That's not nearly good enough.
There's just so many problems with thisand this assumption that things are going
to get better. I I waswith it for a little bit, but

(09:43):
my patience is, you know, that wire is running extremely thin, and
really it's kind of about to runout because the other thing. I'll double
back. Actually for a second, let's go back to Nolan. Let's let's
fast forward to uh July fifteenth, which isn't that far off. Think about
forty five days ish ballpark. Ifwe're eight games out of the division and

(10:05):
still like you know, or more, and we're still like six seven games
below five hundred, meaning if wejust play five hundred ball for the next
forty five days, I think yougotta look at trading some guys. I
would look you might have to lookat trading Aaron Nola if you know you're
not going to resign them. Youhave to get value. You can't just
sit there. You have this nextthis month, and this next forty five

(10:28):
days stretch is absolutely monstrous for thePhillies. It's gonna be determine a lot
of things now. Obviously, noone expected the Phillies to be sellers coming
into this year, and I'm notWe're not there yet, and like,
don't don't take this, don't takethis balls Beats in Bets episode, as
oh Tim O'Keefe saying, we're sellingI'm not. What I'm saying is you
have to watch out for these nextforty five days because if you play even

(10:52):
just five hundred ball, which isbetter than the way what you've already been
played. Right, So if yougo, I don't know what, let's
saw many. Let's say there's gonnabe fo forty games in the next forty
five days. Whatever it is,you go twenty and twenty, which again
is better than what you've been doingalready. I think you have to start
looking at self. You need togo over these next forty games. Give

(11:15):
me what's the bare minimum? Likewhat twenty four and sixteen that gets you
to like two or three games aboutfive hundred. That's not asking the world
to be two or three games aboutfive hundred in July, in July fifteenth.
But does anyone actually believe in thisteam to be able to do that?
I'm not sure I do. Imean, let's only the schedule coming

(11:37):
up. Obviously, we just botchedthe series against both well Atlanta we split,
which so I'm not gonna call ita botch, but we botched the
one against the Mets. Got sweat. Yeah yeah, so now you got
Let's see, we have three gamesagainst the Nationals. Let's do the math
up to July fifteenth. Let's hearme out. Three against the Nationals,
three against the Tigers, three againstthe Dodgers, four against the Diamondbacks,

(12:01):
where we traditionally played terrible in thedesert out there, three against the Athletics,
three more against the Braves, threemore against them. That's three more
against the Cubs, not three morein NATS. Three with the Rays,
three with the Marlins, and thatget and then we got the All Star
break, and then to get meto the my July fifteenth day, let's

(12:22):
just call it four. It comesout four with the Padres. So out
of those teams that has mentioned,I think we're better than I feel confident
that we're better than three of them. At this point, they were better
than the Nationals, they were betterthan the Tigers. So this stretch coming
up immediately is really important. Ithink we're better than the Athletics. The

(12:43):
Athletics are one of the worst teamsin baseball. I guess it's four,
and I think we're better than theCubs. That's it. I'm not saying
we're better than Arizona. Arizona istied to lead the West right now.
I'm barely saying we're better than Detroitbecause record wise, we're really not.
Let's see Detroit as Detroit is twentysix and twenty eight. Detroit is a

(13:03):
better record than us right now.Now they have a very easy division.
I'm not saying we're worse than theTigers, but it's also I can't think
we're gonna roll over really anybody atthis point by how bad this clubs and
play. This is a huge stretch, and I don't know if they have
it in them to hit my I'mjust gonna call it twenty four and sixteen
over the next forty I don't know. I hope they do. I really

(13:26):
hope to God they do. Idon't know. If they do, we're
gonna find out. It's gonna bea really important month. Rob Thompson,
you know, I don't think I'mhoping it wasn't a flash in the pan.
And again, look, I knowI'm coming off as a panic mode,
but I guess well, as sportstalk radio, we're gonna talk a
little bit about a panic when theteam's really looking pretty damn terrible. I'm

(13:48):
not saying if I'm not saying,we need to change overall anything with like,
you know, personnel management. Ithink it's going to get ride the
course, but you know, startlighting the fire a little bit under her
because this is unacceptable for what thisteam was meant to do this year.
All Right, we got that outof the way. Hopefully, hopefully we're
talking about I'll be in three weeks, man, it's gonna be I'll be

(14:09):
back in three weeks for this. It's gonna be a very interesting run.
Hopefully we can do get out againstthe Nationals this week. You have to
take two or three half to taketwo or three from the Tigers. Then
the Dodgers at home, you knowwhat, you gotta take two or three,
gotta defend home turf. And we'llmarket after that, and then we'll
dive back in. All right,we'll take a quick break here, be
right back after this thing. Iwant to talk I talk some NBA Finals.

(14:30):
Obviously Game one last night, we'lldive into that. I also want
to dive in later in the show. We're gonna do a little a little
off sports topic of the sports relatedshows with perfect endings. That anyone who's
out there. Ted Lasso just endedearlier this week, and Donalds are really
phenomenal ending one of the best. It's tough to close out of show.

(14:52):
We're gonna talk about some other showsthat had perfect endings in my opinion.
We'll dive into that later on onFox Sports The Game. But here on
Balls, Bats and Bets coming upright back after this. You can wager
on it. We're talking about it. It's the Gambler. Another NBA Finals
begins and another year the Sixers aren'tin it. But I'm not going down
that path. I'm not doing that. Let's talk about the NBA Finals that

(15:16):
we have going on right now.Obviously, last night, Denver, the
final scores on that bad. It'sonly eleven points one, four ninety three,
but it was a domination. Inmy opinion, Denver never gave Miami
the sense that they were really inthe game, kind of after the first
quarter. Miami coming off an emotionalGame seven in the Eastern Conference Finals to

(15:37):
get to the NBA Finals, Ikind of think the letdown was imminent if
I'm being honest, right, Ididn't The spread with a little too high
for me at nine, but Ithink everyone felt pretty good about Denver in
game one, and really a lotof people are feeling really good about Denver
for the whole series. The JokerYokich Absolute Force Triple Double twenty seven,

(16:00):
ten and fourteen took only three shotsin the first half, and then he
also the only twelve for the game, finishes eight for twelve. Just extremely
extremely efficient. I mean, that'sa way to dominate a game without having
to be the guile the time.I mean, it's a he's a fantastic

(16:22):
player. He's an absolutely fantastic player, and it showed last night, it's
been on display the whole playoffs. He's not flashy in that sense. To
me, it's like he's got alot of like a Tim and then again
he's not as good as Tim Duncan, but like a Tim Duncan esque vibe
where it's like, you know, they call him the Big Fundamental, like
it's just he does everything really well. He's a really intelligent player and there's

(16:42):
nothing flashy or exciting about it.Tim Duncan's like a top ten player of
all time pretty much universally, right. I think that's a pretty safe,
safe statement. And while he wasyou know, I guess must watch TV.
There's never any excitement around him.I don't know that was because he
played in San Antonio or in combinationwith that, or you know, his
style play where I was like, hey, you kind of didn't notice some

(17:03):
of that, and all of asudden end up with twenty five and twelve
each night. Yokas just kind ofthe same way to an extent. Now
he's more involved in the passing sideof it, so he does have more
ball on than Duncan did. Butit's a it's a calm, smooth,
great stat line in the end ofthe night. And I don't know what
else he's he was absolutely fantastic lastnight. Jamal Murray steps up puts up

(17:27):
twenty six points in Game one forhis first game of his NBA Finals career.
Really for all pretty much all theseNuggets, it's their first game of
their Finals career, and they allcame out really smooth. Aaron Gordon,
Michael Porter Junior both around the fifteenpoint mark. The one concern I'll have
for Denver is that they it's avery concentrated scoring pod. Right, you

(17:48):
got those four guys and they didget one other person off the bench that
did score a decent amount, butthat's it. There was a very limited
amount of people that were scoring. They're not deep. They're not nearly as
deep as Miami. That's the onewatch out that I noticed really in Game
one kind of come to life.Now. Miami's bench didn't show up for
them, obviously. The role playersfrom Miami that's helped get them to the

(18:10):
playoffs the whole time, they didn'tshow or get them through the playoffs.
Excuse me this whole time, theydidn't show up. The Caleb Martin's Caleb
Martin, who was fantastic this wholeor I guess the whole time leading up
to this. You know he's gonnaget paid a ton of money based on
what he did in that Boston seriesand others. Yeah, he he finished
with three points ut Max Struss,Goose Egg zero, Duncan Robinson three.

(18:36):
Miami's not gonna win any games withthose. Those three don't give you more
than that. I'm not saying noneof them need to hit twenty. They
don't. They can win without CalebMartin being like being essentially Jimmy Butler two
point out in that Boston series likehe was that you can win without that.
But you need like ten out ofthose guys. You need something more
than what she got. Jimmy Butler, you only ended up getting thirteen out

(18:56):
of him. Excuse me, sorryabout that. You got thirteen out of
Butler and Bam. The one takeawayI will say that was good for Miami.
Bam held his own at least onthe offensive side. Right Bam goes
twenty six points, thirteen rebounds, and in Game seven against Boston, Bam

(19:21):
was awful. I mean just there'sno other way to describe it. He
was not himself, played pretty terribly. Like if he's the number two star
in Miami, that was not whenyou needed in a Game seven from him.
But he showed. He showed upin Game one when really not many
else in Miami can say Hyden Highsmithhad eighteen. I guess he's the other
guy that did show up. Butthat's the one thing. That's one thing

(19:42):
I can look for Miami and say, if Bam can play really well throughout
this series, we can get hisagainst yokich On, at least on Bam
for the offensive side of the glass. I'm not I'm not counting Miami out
yet. The books pretty much areMiami's a plus five hundred to win the
title. That's too much for mein my opinion, Like I think Miami
should be closer to a plus twohundred plus two fifty. While I think

(20:06):
Denver is going to win. Ithink these odds are overly inflated for Denver.
I think people are the Denver loveis interesting to me. They're a
great team, and I love Denvertoo. I shouldn't say it's interesting because
I Denver's a fantastic team, butthe fact that everyone's assuming it's gonna be
a sweeper, gentleman sweep, isa little bit much for my taste,
especially when Miami has the depth andthey have the best they have the better

(20:29):
coach. I still believe it's it'sa coaching entrance Bolstra. I'm buying in.
I think Miami is going to fightback in this series. I can't
say I think there's value on thefive to one for them to win the
title. I don't know if Iwould play that myself. What I love
is series spread Miami plus two anda half, meaning that Miami just needs
to win two games. That's thateven money. I absolutely love that.

(20:52):
I jumped in on that earlier thismorning, got that bet in. So
that's one that I think is avery good value to jump in on.
And again we'll say next game Ibelieve is Sunday, Saturday or Sunday.
And yeah, now Miami could falldown too well when I still would actually
like that bet. I think theycan still fight back a little bit,

(21:12):
but I expect a better performance inGame two spread I saw it was nine
again. I'm absolutely jumping on Miamifor with the nine points in Game two
because Jimmy Baller and company. Idon't think they're getting Denver's getting rid of
them that easily. DEM's a greatteam. I think this series is gonna
be a lot better than people thinkin Miami's gonna fight back a little bit.

(21:33):
The other thing I wanted to touchon I mentioned obviously the Game seven
between Miami and then at the timeit was Boston, right, the Boston
Celtics. They beat our Sixers, but Boston is getting like in the national
attention, it seems like treated prettysimilar to the Sixers, where it's the
what did you do now? Right? You keep you keep not getting over
the hump? What are you gonnado now? And that is the truth

(21:55):
right, Boston hasn't won since that. I guess was the Big Three,
the Paul Pierce, KD and rayAllen Yere Like that's the last title that
Boston has And yeah, is thisI guess the question is, is this
Jason Tatum Jalen Brown duo gonna beable to get over the hump? Personally?
I don't know. I mean,I think they're both phenomenal scores.

(22:17):
It's it's an interesting mix. They'reboth similar style players, and I don't
know the comparison I keep hearing.I think it's true, we don't fully
know who's Robin who's Batman? Right, Jason Tatum puts up the higher numbers,
but it seems like more often thannot, like when it's a big
situation, Jaylen Brown takes more thanwhat you would think of standard Robin would

(22:41):
be. I could see the argumentfor both of them to be it.
I mean, again, just becauseTatum scores more often, that doesn't mean
he's gonna be the guy taking thelast shot being Batman at the end of
the game. But that doesn't meanhe's not either. Obviously, right,
if he's the main score throughout theseason, obviously he's obviously right there in
the conversation, Jason Tatum more talented. In my opinion, Jalen Brown has
the better mental lindframe. I thinkthat's the trade off, and it's a

(23:04):
tough thing to truv and honestly, that couldn't mean that there's some sort of
a good balance there maybe, buthas not worked for Boston over the hill
to get over with hill yet.One comparison that I heard on the National
stage that I thought it was oneof the dumbest takes I've heard in a
long time for why they should breakup Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum. They

(23:26):
had compared it to the OKC situation, like probably what is it now,
six seven years back, when KevinDurant and Russell Westbrook just couldn't get over
the hump. Yeah, guess whatthe guy on the National show he's bring
up. He's like, yeah,no, look at look at what happened.
Katie went off and he won achampionship and Russ won his MVP,

(23:48):
And I'm like, that is great, great for them. They honestly,
individually, I kind of agree itindividually worked out. But this guy was
trying to make the case of theBoston Celtics why they should do it.
You know, the ultimate loser wasin that KD. Russell Westbrook situation.
It was the Oklahoma City Thunder. They've had a rebuild since then, and

(24:08):
now look they're actually putting something togetherpretty nicely now. But it's been you
know, five years or so.They didn't do the process, but they
were kind of close. They werejust they are gathering assets and building it
back up, and okay, see, yeah they had RUSS for a couple
of years. They never got closerto getting over the hump than after they
got rid of Kevin Durant, andthen RUSS started to break down and they
ended up going. They never wonthe argument of oh, yeah, well

(24:30):
they don't exactly mesh perfectly together,so let's just trade one and using that
KD. Russell Westbrook as the reasonwhy. That's the dumbest argument I think
I've heard nationally in a long time. Because it didn't work out for the
team. If you're the Boston Celtics, that should be a scare card for
you, Like, hey, Idon't want that to happen to us.

(24:51):
If I'm Boston. What I thinkI have to do is I think I
pay Jalen Brown. I know he'scoming up on the contract. You pay
him, you bring him back, you run it back, and you try
to ate it with the pieces aroundthem. They're too talented. Could you
if you get great trade value fromone of them. Fine, I'm not
saying, did not listen, butyou should not be forcing one of those
guys out of town. They're tootalented. Talent in the NBA is king

(25:15):
if you have all stars. Ifyou trade an all Star, it's extremely
rare that you're going to get theright value back. It just is.
We've seen that multiple multiple times thatthe team that's giving up the one player
usually loses, even if they're gettingback three or four lesser pieces. Obviously
there's no one hundred percent rules, but that's just the way it is.
Obviously, I've played GM of thesix Ers plenty. If I'm playing GM

(25:37):
of the Boston Celtics right now, there's no way that I can. I'm
I'm not moving them again. Yougot to a Game seven the Eastern Conference
Finals. You came back from downthree h almost you almost came back again,
say from down three out in theEastern Conference Finals. They're a talented
team, they're both still young, both still entering their prime. Don't overpanic

(26:00):
that's hey, obviously as a asa Sixers fan, I hope Boston does.
But wanted to play a little uhcalled foreign GM for a minute.
There's everything going on with Boston. We're gonna take a quick break after this.
We're gonna dive into some sports televisionand movie topics that I got some
best sports coaches and shows that endedperfectly. Those are the two topics we're

(26:25):
gonna dive into when we come backon Balls, Bats and Bets on Fox
Sports The Gambling The Gambling Phillis homefor all things sports gambling. Welcome back
to our third and final segment hereon Balls, Beats and Bets. Tonight,
we're gonna we're gonna mix it upa little bit here and dive into
the world of sports entertainment. Somovies and TV. For those of you

(26:49):
out there that watched most people probablyheard of it. There's a show Ted
Lasso on Apple TV. It justclosed its run. They did three seasons
and I'm a fan. I thoughtthey did a phenomenal job. I was
in Jason Sadekis is extremely personally likable, like in this show, like just
like the most likable character, oneof the most likable characters thing that's ever

(27:12):
been on TV. It's like,it's kind of the you know, it's
tough for anyone. I've never heardanyone say they don't like the character,
and they're doing incredible with the supportingcast building it all around. And I
thought the end of the show perfect. I'm not going to give any spoilers
still with um still too close, and then we're within the spoiler time frame

(27:32):
here, so I'm not going togive anything away. But I thought they
ended the show perfectly in my opinion. So I have two things I wanted
to go through. We're gonna haveTV shows that ended perfectly, and then
we're gonna do some of the bestcoaches in movies and TV. We're gonna

(27:52):
start off with shows that ended perfectly. And in this list, by ending,
I mean the finale was perfect.Doesn't mean the show itself was perfect,
but the finale itself was everything thatyou could have wanted and it worked
out. I do have ted Lassoin that list. I was stewing on

(28:15):
it, actually saw it last night, and as I've been thinking about it,
I do think they ended it perfectly. Again, I'm not gonna give
any spoilers, but Ted Lasso doesfit in that these other ones, they've
been done for over a couple ofyears. So if you're scared of spoilers
for any of these shows coming on, I'll announce the show first, but
feel free to turn it off.But these ones have been off the air

(28:37):
now for I'm looking at my list, I think my most recent one is
probably four years old at this point. So starting off, the only drama
I have on this list, theonly drama that I think really got it
perfect for an ending, Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad one of the best shows
of all time. It's on ifyou've seen it in your ranking shows everyone

(29:00):
has in their top five, andrightfully so. And they finished it perfectly.
While lying there, my Baby Bluecomes on the song and it's it
is absolutely fantastic. There's no therethere was. There was the perfect endings
for a show that had built upso much over the years and did so

(29:22):
many things just incredibly well. Andit was kind of the oh, man,
how can they get this right?Like it's so tough to close out
a show, and they did it. They did absolutely perfectly. Vince Gilly
and the creator had that perfect design, everything laid out and it worked,
and it absolutely worked. So bringingback the only drama I have on this
list, like tweet at me atTK Wonderscore picks. If you have other

(29:45):
ones on this list you want tosubmit, please send them in love to
get your thoughts. But that's theonly drama I have that was perfect.
The finale was absolutely perfect. Anotherthe rest of these, if that's my
only drama, the rest of theseare comedies. I'm gonna start off with
one that everyone knows too. I'mgonna say it. I think The Office

(30:06):
finale was pretty perfect, Like itwrapped up all the characters. I thought
very well. They brought back youbring back Michael. But that last the
last couple of seasons of the Office, I yeah, I could, I
could kind of do without quite Frankly, I think the James Spader stuff is
a little bit weird. And thenthe last season is until you get to

(30:29):
the finale, and I do thinkthey close that out pretty perfectly. Again,
I think they wrapped it up.You know, the Gym and Pam
stuff going on, They wrapped thatpiece up very very well. And the
side characters, you have the funstuff going on, you know Kelly and
Ryan going off, Dwight really beingthe star of the kind of emotional piece
of it, which is a twistfrom the whole beginning, and then getting

(30:52):
to see Michael come to the wedding. It's it was pretty perfect. I
think The Office did a great umanother same realm, same show. Great
at Parks and Recreation, Parks andRex, I feel again, you know
it's weird, perfect as a wordwhere there shouldn't be like tears, it
says, though it was perfect.Parks and Rec is better than The Office
finale, but they're both perfect forwhat the each show was. Parks and

(31:15):
Rec did a great job finalizing allthe futures for the characters. They do
the cut aheads to multiple years inthe future showing where everybody ends up,
giving really everybody a nice ending, which is what a comedy is supposed to
do. I don't you don't needany heartbreak going on there. And Parks
and Rec, I thought was absolutelyphenomenal in laying that out with Leslie's future,

(31:37):
Ron's future, everyone had that heyknow what, that makes sense type
of moment. So Parks and Rec, I though, they did another fantastic
job of closing that out stinging inthe NBC comedy is The Good Place.
I won't go too much into thisone because I don't think it's as popular.
I think I may as many peopleknow it The Good Place. Very
well done. It's a unique concept. Was a shorter show, similar to

(31:57):
kind of a ted Lasso where there'sonly you know, three maybe four.
I think there's four seasons, andit was a unique concept, rights about
the afterlife and going to all thatpiece. And again I won't go into
too many details, but they closethat out phenomenally well and for each character
kind of making their own decision atthe end, saying hey, no what
I'm good, I'm satisfied. Andit was very well done. A tough

(32:21):
show to close, but I thoughtthey did a great job. This one's
off the wall. People have probablyheard of it. Futurama. Now the
problem is Futurama. Apparently they're bringingback Futurama. The last several seasons it
was. It was a very farfrom perfect show. It was Futuramas.
Like I have a Futurama fan alot more than most people, and I
can tell Futurama has a bunch ofepisodes that are just da it's not that

(32:44):
good. It's like all right, background noise. But the way they ended
it, the Futura Rama ending isperfect where you get the two main characters,
Fryan Leela having a lifetime just tothemselves due to some weird technology quirk
where everyone else is frozen, andit was perfect. It really was.
Now they're bringing it back, sothat's not gonna hold them thus. But
I do think that Futurama ending wasas perfect as it could be for that

(33:06):
show. The last one I gotas Frasier. Frasier the spinoff of Cheers,
the oldest show on this list, and it you know, it ends
with him making that decision he's movingback east. He's supposedly fine in love
and it again summed up the showreally well. They put all the characters
in a really good place and justperfect ending. So those are the only
shows I have is perfect TV endings. I love to hear from you on

(33:30):
Twitter, tweeted me at TK Iwanderscore picks and then the other side topic
for this last segment, I wantto dive into the best coaches in sports
movies in sports TV. Again, this is all Ted Lasso ending inspired popular
shows, So I'm building it aroundthat. So out of this the I

(33:51):
am going to say this upfront, because I think there's two categories. There's
the coaches that are based on realpeople and the purely fictional coaches. I'm
going to stick with the purely fictionalcoaches because the ones that are made off
of made from are based on realpeople. I think we have a little
bit of a problem with that wherewe all know some of that. We

(34:13):
know some of the stories, right, and that's the problem. We know
some of the stories which can makeus maybe overrate the actual coach in the
movie. Not saying it's bad,but it says I think that is a
too tough in elephment for me tojudge. So some of the ones I'm
going to discount here because they arebased on real stories. Herman Boone,
remember the Titans, her Brooks miracle, Dick Vermeil in Invincible, we take

(34:38):
him out, um. And thenCoach Carter for those who don't know,
Coach Carter is based on a truestory. Um. And yeah, you
know, so that those ones it'stough for me to judge because we all
know like that will stick with herBrooks, everyone knows nineteen eighty US Olympic
Hockey Team incredib story in absolutely incredible, and the movie It's fantastic. Kurt

(35:04):
Russell is an amazing coach in that, But with it being based on the
real, real story and character,I think it's tough for me to purely
get into the fictional coach mindset thatI wanted to think. How do I
compare Look, how do I compareher Brooks up against mister Miyagi. I
don't know that I can, becausethere's the actual background with her Brooks and
we know the real story behind it. Mister Miyagi. The only thing we

(35:27):
know is everything that we see inall the Karate Kid movies. So that's
why I want to keep that separatefrom that. And with that, we'll
just we'll dive right in to mytop five fictional coaches in sports and TV.
I want to start with five, mister Miyagi. As I just mentioned
again, wax On wax Off KarateKid fantastic movie led into I mean,

(35:49):
probably too many sequels. But thenthe Cobra Kai show, which I know
it was really popular. I haven'tseen Cobra Kai and I've heard, um,
wow, what is it? DanielRusso's fantastic in it. It's it's
Ralph Maccio, but I think it'sthat. Yeah, Larusso's the kid and
then also the bad guy Billy Zapka. If the actor is fantastic as a
coach, so it might need tobe added to this list. Also a

(36:14):
few, sorry, a few callouts on things I haven't seen. I
have not seen Hoosiers. I havenot seen Friday Night Lights, so I
cannot put either of those guys onthis list, just for transparency, at
least I saw Friday Night Lights, the movie with Billy Bob Thornton. He
didn't make my top five. Idid not see Friday Night Lights the TV
show, so that's I cannot putthat coach on my top five. I

(36:34):
believe it's was it Kyle Chandler believesthe actor, so that is a reason
that's not included. Just in caseanyone wants to get mad at the list.
I didn't see it. I can'tcount it. Number four. I'm
gonna put ted Lasso again. Ithought that show was perfect. He's the
most lovable character in a show I'veseen a long time, where it's just
it's tough not to smile. Itjust is he's just that like the goofy,

(36:55):
perfect midwestern guy. It's just oh, you know, happy, go
lucky. And then they do tacklesome serious things with him throughout the show,
but these it's too good a characterto not have him my top five.
So I'm gonna have him at numberfour. Number three going to Morris
butter Maker from Bad News Bears.Morris butter Maker is elite. It's the

(37:21):
from the They're both versions where youactually Billy about Thornton again, Billy bout
Thornton in the more recent one liketwo thousand and five, still not that
recent anymore, and then back intothe seventies where it was oh god,
Walter math Out, Um, yeah, just absolutely fantastic um where you know
he's drinking around the kids. He'sjust the first like real, like you
know, alcoholic, like coach kindof vibe but around children that you see

(37:46):
in TV. And it just look, it played perfectly. It was a
movie, excuse you, not TV, and it worked out. It was
perfect. It was funny, andMorrist butter Maker just absolutely fantastic. Um.
Number two, I'm going Mickey Goldmill. Obviously most of you are a
listener in Philly. Mickey, youcan't think of Rocky without thinking about Mickey.

(38:07):
Absolutely fantastic coach. I know yougenerally don't think as much about boxing
coaches, but that's what Mickey was. He was Rocky's coach, That's what
it was. He was driving, was his trainer. He's getting him there
Rocky three spoiler alert. When Mickeygoes down, it's a heartbreaker, is
an absolute heartbreaker, and that's Hey. He brought the best out of Rocky,

(38:27):
brought the best out of us forthose movies. He was fantastic Mickey.
Hey, yeah, what are wewaiting for? You know, we
all get think it's classic scenes.Mickey has to be on the list number
one in this a company. Ido have two number one, so I
guess hen calls a top six.Patches a Hulahan in Dodgeball. I know
it's corny, Patches. It's oneof the funniest characters to really ever exist.

(38:51):
In my opinion. Patches over Landis absolutely fantastic in Dodgeball, played
by Riptorn. Obviously, the tragicluck of the Irish side falling on him
in the Vegas casino just tragic. But um, if you can dodge a
wrench, you can dodge a ballis one of the best lines and scenes
where he's just start to throwing themat the guys. Absolutely phenomenal. U

(39:12):
and then tied with him, Last, but not least for sure, Lou
Brown from Major League. Major Leagueis my favorite baseball and it's my favorite.
It's probably my favorite sports movie. It was. I know, it's
like people will be mad, likeit's not Rocky. It's not there's a
lot of other grams. It's noteven objectively it's not the best one.
I get it. It's my favorite. Major League is just the cast of

(39:34):
characters, Charlie Sheen's Rick Vaughan umOh, Wesley Snipes as Willie Mays Hayes.
This perfectly cast, so great, great chemistry altogether. Tom Barringer um
as Jake Man. I'm blanking onhis last name actually in the movie,
Um, but I know it's JakeJack Taylor, Jack Taylor. Of course.

(39:59):
I know. There's so many other, so many other characters, but
um, Lou Brown is the coach, just you know, being some guy
who's like working at a gas station. If there's as a single a manager
and gas station guy on the side, absolutely phenomenal. It's it's so funny.
You know all the taxes he uses, and he knows that the owner
hates everybody, and he's like, well, screw it, I want to

(40:22):
win. And one of the bestcoaching lines that will ever exist. If
we win, if we won today, if we win tomorrow, that's two
in a row, and that's calleda winning streak. It's happened before,
and just that motivation and Billie andit's just a it's a great movie,

(40:44):
and he is a fantastic coach andplays a part perfectly. Um lou Brown,
Yeah, Loue Brown's probably the oneI love a little bit more,
but Patches is right there. Idid struggle in my own fishing rank and
going into this, uh breaking themout. So that's my top five again
inspired by Ted Lasso. Series endingended perfectly. One of the best sports

(41:05):
coaches in my opinion. Thought itwas a fantastic show. If you haven't
seen it, check it out.But they're a little bit different for this
last segment tonight. Again, asa quick recap, I am not going
to be here for the next coupleof weeks. Getting married next Friday,
a week from tonight, and soI'll be away for a few weeks.
After that, But then we'll beback with you. Like I said's early

(41:27):
July or late June. I don'tknow when. That next Friday i'll lamb
went, I'm back, but we'llbe back into your own balls, beats
and bets on Fox Sports. Thegame. But I can't wait for it,
and you can't wait to get back. And please, Phillies, play
better, play better. Talk toyou soon,
