Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the battle Ground Podcast and exclusive interviews with
some of your favorite wrestlers.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Stop.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
I think probably the greatest beard ever on this show
right now.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
Bron Stroman joins us.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Bron How I gotta get I gotta step my game up, man,
what's the secret sauce?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Just don't touch it?

Speaker 4 (00:38):
See that's being hard.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I just had it trimmed up yesterday. I was literally
sitting here like trying not to be a mark for myself.
But I'm like, damn, I look good right now.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Hey, you know what, We'll be a mark for you
on here. You do look good. I love the beard.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Bron Stroman joins the show today here to talk about
his brand news show Everything on the Menu with Bronche
on the USA Network. Now, let's jump right into it
because I got to ask, how did the concept come
about for you? And what's been the biggest surprise so
far moving from being in the ring to TV food
Explorer mode.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
So the concept behind it was twenty twenty three. I
had that really bad neck injury in the match with
Otis where my head went back and it pinched my spine.
Both my arms went limp for like three seconds, and
then match and I'd pinched my spine in between my
C four and five, and I end up having to
have my neck view. So they put four screws in
a metal plate in there to keep my head from
falling off or being a permanent bobblehead doll, I guess.

(01:38):
So I'm out with recovery for this, and I'm going, well, man, like,
am I ever gonna be able to wrestle again? Am
I gonna be able to have a normal life?

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
What's life gonna look like? So I'm going through all
this crazy mental anguish of what am I going to
be able to do? And I have this real realization
with myself that even if physically I can't continue to
do certain things that I love to do, I know
that I've been given a gift and not everybody's given
and there's something inside of me that makes me good

(02:06):
at putting smiles on people's faces. And I'm like, how
can I continue to do this. I'm on the phone
one day with my agent, Nick and my friend Kevin,
who's the producer of the show. We're throwing ideas at
the wall of like what else can I do if
I can't be physical and I can't do what I
love to do anymore, and they were we were talking
about something. I think they're picking on me, or something

(02:27):
about when I go out to eat, I'll order two
three entrees at a time when I go out to eat, well,
one because I'm hungry. I'm three hundred and fifty pounds
of twisted steel and sex appeal. It's not to pat
myself on the back or anything. But and the other
is this my opportunity to travel around the world with
WW and try so many different culinary walks of life
that I really learned to love food and different types

(02:50):
of food, So I want to try different things as well.
So it's not always necessarily about being super hungry. Is
I can't make up my mind what I want to eat.
So that's the idea behind it. I do two restaurants
every episode. One the first restaurant is known for the
signature dish and the cities that we went to, all
being fifty sixty years old, getting in there, hearing all
the history of the Americana of what's kept them open,

(03:12):
why people stand in line, why people have been eating
there their entire lives, what keeps them coming back, Hearing
the family lineage and what it's gone into the process
of keeping the business open, being a part of the community,
and that's so much fun. And it really shines through
in the episodes of how much fun I get to
have interacting with the customers and the owners of the
restaurants and stuff, and the crossover from whether they know

(03:33):
who Braun is or they're meeting Adam Shayer for the
first time, and then the other restaurant is known for
someone like the more the hotspot in the city or
up and coming restaurant. We tried to vet out and
find restaurants that hadn't been featured on other programming and
stuff to help share love and show some support for
them as well. And the idea behind it is I
think about how many times you've gone out to eat.

(03:54):
You're sitting watching around foods coming out, and you're like, man,
that lady's food looks good. What's that guy eating? What
does she got? Now you're looking at the menu, and
especially for me, I'm a visual burthose, so there's pictures
in there. My add is going real crazy and I'm
really struggling to make up my mind. Well I can't
make up my mind, so I order everything on the menu, which.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Is a fantastic concept for sure.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Of course, watch Everything on the Menu with Broun Trouman
on the USA Network. Now you have built this identity
of being this unstoppable force in the ring, a monster
among men, right as you involve into something into someone
doing food shows, also acting some other things along the
lines as well. How do you hold onto that identity
that you had inside of that wrestling ring and a

(04:37):
brand while also showing a different side of yourself to fans.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
So what I like to say about it, Everyone in
the world knows Braun knows Braunstroman. They've seen Braun Stroman,
the character that I've played for a quarter of my
life on WWE. This is the first time in my
life I have a massive platform where I get to
be Adam Schaer. So now you're going to get to
see them man behind the monster. While it's still Everything

(05:02):
on the Menu with Braun Strowman, it is unscripted. I
am as raw and as real as I possibly can be,
and it's something that it's very special to me because
while I embrace my stereotypes of being the monster among monsters,
monster among men's the face of fear and the face
of destruction whatever they've called me throughout those years. This

(05:24):
is an opportunity that I get to show a more
compassionate side of me while I'm still there's still elements
with Braun in there, because Braun was just a cranked
up version of Adam, but still dumbed down to a degree,
because I always joked if wwe ever just let me
be Adam, I would rule the world. But we all
played a part in the play, and I think I

(05:44):
did a dag. I'm a good job at I like
to think I changed what it means to be the
big man in the business. And now I have another
opportunity to continue to push myself, to find more things
about myself, to get out and figure out how to
entertain people more. And this massive platform, this great relationship
that I have with USA Network from being on their
programming for ten plus or ten years and everything else

(06:06):
in between, and now getting out and having this fun
and showcasing you know how articulate. I like to think
I'm breaking stereotypes of the you know, the the fee
five foux FuMB narrative that people have when they see
humans like me walking around in life. While don't get
me wrong, I'm very successful at fee five foux fumbing.
I also like to show that I'm compassionate, articulately loving,

(06:29):
pretty intelligent. Maybe not the smartest cow in the barn,
but the biggest, but then everything else between. Man, it's
just it's so much fun. And then getting some time
to do more things in life because the WW schedule
while such a blessing. I had such an amazing time
driving around. It takes up your entire life. So now
having opportunities to catch up on things that I missed
out on. The Milwaukee episode we did with my show

(06:51):
was very very special because I got to have my
cousins on there, and I got to share the screen
with my god daughter and things like that. And nick
I said, getting to meet all these new people, making
new friends, traveling around and then eating food, like I said,
everybody eats, everybody needs to eat. Food is such a
conversation piece. It brings people together to the table. Now
you're talking about life and you're catching up and laughing

(07:13):
and loving and living and all that fancy sign. You know,
everybody's got over their door when you walk into their house,
And that's what it's about for me. I mean I've
been so blessed to constantly trip and fall into opportunities
where I've been successful in life, and I just want
to keep doing. I just want to keep, you know,
putting smiles on people's faces at the end of the
day because I really really enjoyed. It's something that I've

(07:33):
found that I think I'm pretty good at.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Absolutely, And I got to tell You're gonna put a
lot of people, a lot of smiles on people faces
coming up here. In October twenty fourth, Everything on the
Menu with Bronch t Roman premieres on the USA Network
ten pm Eastern, back to back episodes that night. And
I got to tell you, as a big wrestling fan
as I am, you have made an impact in my household.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
I've got an eight year old, big big wrestling fan.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
Let me tell you, when I have an eight year
old talk back and tell me, do I want to
get these hands? I'm gonna blame you because he has
said that numerous times to me.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
And I was like, I'm gonna let bron know this
real quick next time I see him.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
You aren't the first. You aren't the first parent that
I've apologized for for making that a household thing that
all the kids say and whatever trending or whatever the
terms are nowadays that I'm old and can't keep up with.
But now, what a cool thing to turn that into
such a like pop icon, you know, number one merch
selling piece and all that stuff for a year and

(08:32):
everything else in between, and people still screaming at me
when I'm walking down the street and everything. Like I said,
it's really cool, just you know, now that I've had
some time to stop and proverbally smell the roses and
understand how unbelievable my career, my time was with WWE
and what it's allotted me and what it's taught me
and the tools that it's given me to be successful

(08:53):
outside of wrestling. Now moving into the food space with
my television show Everything on the Menu. I got some
movie opportunity next year, a few more television shows in
the talks, a big venture into the tequila market. Now
I owned an all organic tequila that I'm very, very
proud of. We're just officially getting on board with EDC Orlando,

(09:14):
which I'm a big music festival guy, and you know,
any opportunity I get to take my shirt off and
dance some dub step and drink tequila and I'm going
to take advantage of so, you know, just at the
end of the day, man, I'm a giant thirteen year
old and a forty year old man's body with a
couple of dollars that he probably shouldn't have.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Now.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
I know that back in September you had had mentioned
that you considered yourself semi retired from full time wrestling,
and you know, you shift in your focus on the
TV show, acting other ventures like you just mentioned, how
does it feel stepping away from the grind of you know,
weekly ring performance And what's maybe the single thing that
you missed the most? And could we see Braun back

(09:53):
in the ring anytime soon?

Speaker 2 (09:55):
I mean, these things are available for anybody that want.
We just got to figure out the money side of it,
because I learned when you're good at something, you don't
do it for free. But no, honestly, I miss being
in the ring, and I miss being in the locker
room a lot of the other stuff that comes along
with it. I'm enjoying the break from cause it's very stressful.

(10:15):
I mean, I'm still traveling a lot, but I'm getting
to travel instead of like, all right, it gets to
where it's a job. Now I'm doing like I'm really excited.
While I'm not taking away that I wasn't excited all
the time with WW. It just got because it was
so much the first four years of my career. I
was on the road Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, wrestling
every day and get home like two o'clock on Wednesday,

(10:35):
half Thursday, all rake the stuff out of the suitcase
and the washing machine into the dryer, just rake it
right back into the bag and did that for four
and a half years when it was such an amazing
blessing to be able to do that in the career
that I had and the opportunities. But at the same time,
like I missed out on a lot of cool stuff
in normal life. Whatever normal is is being this. So

(10:56):
it's neat slowing down a little bit, having opportunity to
think about my unbelievable career and then catch up on stuff.
Like I said, I have a five year old goddaughter
on my cousin's side, I have Wyndham's kids and my
god children. So being able to you know, see family,
do family stuff, take some time to get out, do
some hunting, reconnect with nature and do some of the
stuff that I enjoyed doing when I was a kid.

(11:17):
And it's so neat, like how full circle life works.
And now being able to do this stuff that I
love doing it as part of my job and my career,
Like it just was out with NASCAR just this past
weekend in Las Vegas doing promo for everything on the menu,
and growing outside of growing up outside of Mooresville, North Carolina,
and being involved in NASCAR, having friends on all that.
Now it's back circle in my life and it's just man,

(11:38):
life's such a blessing. I just I thank the Lord
for waking me up every day and the opportunities that
he puts in front of me. And I just want
to keep making him proud, keep making my family proud,
my fans proud, keep putting smiles on people's faces and
stuff in mind with food
