Speaker 2 (00:08):
You'll play for all things pro wrestling.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
And exclusive interviews with some of your favorite wrestlers. Abound
stop being What's up you guys? Welcome back into Iheartradils
official wrestling podcast, The Battleground Podcast, and I gotta tell
you man, aw double or nothing this Sunday, May twenty
(00:32):
fifth in the Desert Diamond Arena. Of course, you can
watch you live on paper, you view, you could be
there in person, tickets online at ae w ti x
dot com. But I gotta tell you man, you gotta
strap in for this one today, because today's guest is
what happens when a three am Nottingham pub brawl grows
legs and learns of promo. He is the man who
puts the mad and Madman the war and War dogs.
(00:54):
Let me tell you he has got more fight than
a feral honey Badger on Red Bull and a mouth
that would make the I will say, WHOA Come on,
chill out, bro, give it up for Gabe Kid on
the show Man. What's going on? Brother?
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yo?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
You've ben practicing that so much, in it that whole
that hole.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Long just to make sure I shut donch you in
that you have been practicing that. I'm telling you I
have been practicing that because I've seen a lot of
interviews with you recently, and I got to nail that
intro because everybody else has some cool ones.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Our friend Adrian was talking about how his balls were
cleaned on one of the interviews, and Malcolm has his
things with you, and I'm like, I gotta step my
game up with those two guys. But let's let's talk
about it real quick, because uh, you know, you've developed
a reputation for calling out and slapping up various figures
in the wrestling world, most recently Duane h who's currently
(01:47):
on your radar that you want to slap today?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Anyone and everyone, anyone in everyone book. More importantly, I
think I think you know the answer to that already.
Come on, man, it's Samoa Joe, It's Kenny Omega, Swerve
Strict and all of them nerds. That's all I want
to get my paws on, and I will I'm cooling.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
I'm hip definitely gonna be an interesting matchup come this Sunday.
And uh, you know, the one thing that a lot
of people have talked about and it made a lot
of headlines because you talked about ready to slap the
rock over wearing a New Japan shirt, right, and you've
already talked about how you want to slap Kenny and
Samoa Joe and swerve. But you accuse Dwayne of trying
(02:33):
to catch a buzz off of New Japan, Right, What
message are you trying to send mainstream figures engaging with
that New Japan branding?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Listen, that's the that's the brand that I ripped. That's
the company that I'm putting on the map. So for
him to go on there and just try and catch
a little buzz off me, that's funny to me. And
he's just he's Dwayne Johnson. Man, come on, man, Jamanji.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
He's a nerds anymore.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
He's a little cosplay of what he used to be.
He's just trying to relive it. Well, he knows in
his heart that ain't there anymore. So whatever about that.
I don't care about that. I got things that I
do care about, So you want to chat about them,
let's go.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, for sure, and things that a lot of people
are caring about. Of course, you talked about it this
Sunday big match for you guys with everything that's happening
there in the Diamond or does the Diamond Arena at
double or nothing? You know you made an alliance with
John Moxley and the Death Rids. It's been a very
significant development. Somebody who you have history with John Moxley.
(03:40):
How is the partnership influencer approach in AEW as well
as New Japan.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Listen, everyone wants answers. Everyone wants answers instantly. It's pretty
It's clear as daylight. It is.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
It's clear as fucking day.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Why I'm there, listen, John Moxley trying to tear down
AW from the inside.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Why why would I not?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
If we are gonna be in a collaboration with this company,
why would I not come in and try and do
that When I've been saying fuck AW and people want
to act like I'm jumping ship.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
That's hilarious to me.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
I'm here for work, and that work is tearing down
this fucking company.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
And you're also there to get a paycheck, to a
pretty nice paycheck.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I would assume, mind your damn business talking about my money.
They talk about my money.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Hey, we won't talk about too much of your money
because that's your that's that's your personal thing. So you
know you're a part of this new era with New
Japan where gloves are off lines between shooting work or blurred.
Do you think that New Japan and also AEW needed
something like this to shake things up? And are you
the guy to lead this new movement?
Speaker 3 (04:55):
They need me, is what they need?
Speaker 2 (04:56):
They need me because Japan just getting tramped hold on
and letting it happen in front of their eyes. And
I'm studying, like what so I really gave up a
year and a half of my life to came and
work for you, clean your laundry, cook your chanker.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Don't play around with me, man, This is this is
my life to me.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
So as far as the collaboration goes, I'm trying to
burn it down from the inside and get out of there.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
You know, when it's in its WCW two thousand dates.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
I'm trying to take whatever I want and listen, they're
trying to do the same thing. Claudio says it yesterday.
Find people you have common ground with. We have very
common ground. We hate that company, we hate AW so
fuck them.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
All right, Well we'll find out how things play out.
Of course, the Sunday AW double or nothing from the
Desert Diamond Arena. You can watch it live on pay
per view. You could be there in person, tickets online
ae WTIX do come now, you know, not too long ago,
and you you've talked about it here in this interview
about your hatred of AW and some of those in
(06:08):
the locker room saying and I quote, you're a bunch
of fucking egotistical nerds, is what you are, who've never
got any pussy. But now here you are in AW,
do you still feel that way or has your perspective
change in stepping into the locker room.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
I don't work there. I'm not an AW guy and
I never will be never. I don't fuck around with
me like I am not an AW guy. I am
there to beat people up. I'm there to send a message.
I'm there to send a message to all of them
nerds who are collecting money money that I should be making.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
It's a pistake. So I'm there. I'm there as a
hired gun.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
That is exactly what I am, and not like those
two little nerds sons a billet, nothing like that. I'm
a different I'm a fucking bazooka. Like coming straight out
of Cod five World at war. I am a rapid
ball of energy coming. It's a different level of violence.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
So yes, that is what they are.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
And if any of them have a problem about anything
else said, then they can come and fucking find them.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Of course you're gonna be able to find Gabe Kid
and a lot more of the Death Riders this Sunday
aw Double or Nothing from the Desert Diamond Arena. Now,
let's get your headspace going into this match this weekend. Obviously,
you know how to fight. We've seen past matches of
you know you and mans Warner and several other people
down the road that you're not afraid to get your
(07:38):
hands dirty, You're not afraid to shed a little blood.
How are you feeling heading into this match this weekend?
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Fantastic, amazing. You know this is my arena. Talk about
the money in the arena, This is my arena. I
thrive in these unsanctioned violent fights. That is me, that
is Gabe Kid, that is what I bring to the table.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
So I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
But to go out tonight, get a few drinks, go
out tomorrow night, get a few, just build it up nicely,
more drunk every night, then rock up on Sunday, and
you know, do business. You know, that's how I get done,
That's how the war does get done. That's how we
get done. So I am excited for this.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
I think a lot of us are excited for this,
this match as well, this Sunday at aw double or Nothing. Now,
let's let's kind of move past this. Let's go past
this Sunday. Who do you think would win in a
fight between the Death Riders and the war Dogs. I mean,
we are obvious answer, we know that. But what are you.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Trying to do? You're trying to instigate someone to get
a few clicks.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
No, I'm not trying anything. I'm looking don't worry about it.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Don't worry about that. Don't worry about that. Don't worry
about that. Don't worry about that. That's not what we're doing.
I just like to know what we're doing right now.
So next question, all.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Right, next question. You've been very candid about mental health
in the past, right, How does balancing the intense demand
of professional wrestling with personal well being today, especially with
everybody having a mouth on social media?
Speaker 3 (09:26):
How does it balance it? It doesn't.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
I think you need to get one thing clear. I
am clinically insane, you know, government registered. Okay, this is
pro wrestling is easy for me. The battles I go
through in my head every day and nobody could that.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
That doesn't equate.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
To a one hour match pro wrestling match. You know,
this is my life. So when people come against me
and try and take it from.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
That, it's just funny to me. It's funny. But I
balance it. I find my way.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I'm on my own path, and I know how to
control my emotions like a lot of these fucking nerds don't.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
There's a lot of nerds I don't know how to control.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
It, and they end up broke and down and that
could never be me for sure.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
And I mean you look at Gabe Kid right now
if you're watching this on YouTube. I mean, the dude's
got some Birdberry glasses on. I mean he is styling
and profiling. I think, uh get that one the hat
as well. I mean, I think your style probably is
one that someone like Rick Flair would be envious of.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Of course he would little old nerd or slap him up.
Talk to me about Rick flairman.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
That's another person you could take out in the aw
locker room if you need to I wish so real
quick because I know you gotta get ready for everything
on this Sunday. You gotta have some drinks, you gotta
have some fun. Being a part of a radio station,
we play a lot of music. If we were to
look through Gabe Kids music playlist, we just kind of
(11:11):
scrolled through. What's something that we would find on there
that would surprise us that you listen to?
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Surprise surprise m Maybe like I like some deep level
Irish folk music. I'm talking nineteen fifties dubliners, all of them,
(11:39):
so probably something like that little Irish cheek.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Okay, that's my.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Roots, so probably not, but that's doln Chester, grime, meeks, Tondt.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Come on, some serious music. I'm hyped.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Always solid stuff right there.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Now.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
One thing I do want to ask before we let
you go, because you're kind of seeing more and more
people celebrity wise, stepping into the ring, and some of
them are okay, some of them are not so okay.
What are your thoughts on these celebrities stepping into your
domain wanting to, I guess be a wrestler.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
It's a joke. It's an absolute joke.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Everyone thinks they can do it now, and it's just
creating a generation of pusses, a whole generation of pusses,
and it's just embarrassing. ESPN ranked Logan Paul a better
wrestler than me thirty under thirty. You're mad, Logan Paul,
don't be crazy. Don't fuck with me like it's a joke.
(12:39):
It's an absolute joke. And the fact that people are
jumping on it and thinking it's a good idea, the
costco guys, it's like, come on, you just letting these
people in.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
I don't give fuck.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
If he was an indie wrestler in New Jersey twenty
years ago, don't give a fuck. Come on, embarrassing. Nobody's
policing it.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Well, Gabe Kid could be here to police that and
make sure it doesn't happen with certain people.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
I'll beat all of them.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
I'll do a mad handicap matchy mad handicap match.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
I mean, I think that's something that we'd all enjoy watching,
just Gabe Kid taking everybody. It's kind of like when
they said one hundred people versus one gorilla, one hundred
people versus Gabe Kid. Who wins in that match.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
One hundred influencers, get it done.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
I'm praying, you know, when I'm in Japan and hear
about these streamers causing shit in public, I'm praying to
see one of them.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
I'm praying because they would get dealt with. It's funny, man,
and you know.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
People that are gonna get dealt with this Sunday Samo
Joe swear Strickland, Awble or nothing this Sunday, May twenty fifth,
Desert Diamond Arena. Of course, watch it live on pay
per view. You could be there in person to it's
aw ticks dot com that has aw tix dot com. Gabe,
real quick before we let you go. Anything you want
to say to people that are watching or listening to
this right now.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Fuck everyone from aw all the production staff, all the
backstage workers, all of your the wrestlers, the makeup people.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Fuck every single one of you.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
I'm actually going to ruin your company and you're gonna
have to be looking around. You're gonna have to go
down job center, and I don't care like I'm coming
for everything that you think you can just piss on
New Japan to joke. So fuck them, women and people.
Fuck them all
