Speaker 2 (00:23):
What's up you guys.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Welcome back into iHeartRadio's official wrestling podcast, the Battleground Podcasts.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
And well, every day here on this show.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Yeah, we might say it's Monday, it's Tuesday, it's Wednesday,
it's Thursday, it's Friday. But no, no, no, no no, we
say every day is Ridnesday on the show, and joining
us is Frinsday.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
How are you doing today?
Speaker 3 (00:45):
I love that every day is Fdnesday here. I think
I might need to be here more often.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Absolutely, it's an open invitation.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Every day on the Battleground Podcast is Ridnesday. And of
course let's jump right into this because we got a
big show coming up here NXT Deadline in your home state.
It's in San Antonio. The Iron Survivor Challenge is back.
And you've been in this match before and didn't quite
play out the way that a lot of US fans
had hoped for you. But this time around it has
(01:15):
a different little bit of a catch to it. John
Cena is picking, and if John Cena was to pick
you to.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Participate in this this again. What would that mean for you?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Honestly, I think it would mean the world.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I feel like whenever I grew up watching ww WWE,
I loved John Cena. When I would play the video games.
If I wasn't Scottie too Hotty, I was John.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Cena, Like that was my guy.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
So to be picked by him, especially since he is
like on his way for his farewell tour and he's
giving back to NXT in the future of the business,
it would feel like he has trust in me. And
I think I probably faint, and then when I came
back to I'd like, let's.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Do this absolutely for sure. And I know we've seen
here on social media. John Cena has spent some time
at the Performance Center. We've seen him pop up. Have
you had any interaction with him while he was at
that performance center, and if so, did you did you
get any little tidbits of advice from him?
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
So, I was a part of the few that did
get to speak with him and ask him questions. I
asked him many, many questions, and.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
It was incredible.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
The way that he speaks, in the way that he
articulates everything. It's not only inspiring but it's very validating
that I think that I'm doing the right thing, that
I feel like I'm in a good spot in my career,
and the only thing I can do now is just
keep moving forward, never give up.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Absolutely, And you talk about being on this amazing career
and we have been fans of yours for a while,
which will talk about some of the past, including the
NWA days later in the show, but you've had a
wild ride since getting there to NXT, joining the No
Quarter Catch crew, making big moves, becoming a name that
people are chanting at NXT and ww shows. When you
(03:16):
look back to when you first arrived in NXT, did
you ever imagine that you would be in this position
that you're in now. No.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
I was terrified when I first came to NXT, and
I think it kind of showed a little bit. I
was terrified, but I was enamored and I was excited
with everything that is WWE. Because when you start off
like at a professional wrestling school, your goal is ultimately
most of us is WWE. So to finally be not
(03:46):
only through the doors, but making an entrance on a
live television show, it was like a pinch me type moment.
So when I walked out there, I think, if you
go and look back, I just have like this dumb
look on my face of just pure excitement, which I
feel like most people who watched me prior aren't used
(04:08):
to because I was just so calm, cool and collected.
But being in front of that crowd and knowing that
there were the hundreds of thousands and millions that are
going to consume all this later watch it at home
or watch the replays, it was surreal, and I again
just had a dumbfounded, so excited, like this is what
(04:33):
I worked for and now it's all finally paying off.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
And here I am, absolutely and it's great to see
all the hard work paying off because again I go
back to what I said earlier, We've been big fans
of yours for quite some time now, and it's awesome
to see where you were to where you are now,
and it's incredible. And of course you're going to be
there at NXC deadline December sixth in San Antonio. We're
(04:57):
gonna put it out there in the universe. Johnson is
going to pick you or that for sure, and you
know I gotta ask because you look at the women's
division in n XT and it's gotten absolutely stacked lately.
You look at it, the talent, the storyline surprises from
your vantage point, like, how do you feel about where
the division is today and where you fit into that picture?
Speaker 4 (05:20):
That is a great question.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
I feel like the women's division period over on NXT
SmackDown Raw are just like leaps and bounds ahead of
where we used to be. The women are raw, no
pun intended. They're real and they're so aggressive and it's
crazy because like some of them, they're like real cute,
(05:44):
they're very cute, they're very pretty, they're very put together,
and then they hit you and you're like, oh what,
you're kinda you're kind of you're kind of strong.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
I think I fit in. I think I fit in well.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Right, I I don't know. I feel like I bring
a different energy to the roster. Not to say that
the other girls aren't funny like me, but my personality
is unmatched.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
And you know one thing that a lot of us
fans have been noticing, and I want to ask you this,
what's really going on between you and Kendall Gray, because
I mean we're kind of noticing there's the chemistry, the timing,
the little moments. Is there maybe an all female version
of the No Quarter Catch Crew on the way?
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Well obviously, I mean, and we're not calling it that,
we're calling it the ren QCC. And yeah, I felt
like the n QCC prior there was it was working,
but it wasn't like working. I don't know if there
was just too much like testosterone or something. But once
the other two left, I decided I needed to make
(07:02):
something for Charles to come back to. And honestly, women
are the future, and so a feminine ren QCC, female
powered seems like it might be in the future. And Kendall,
she is now an official member of the renk UCC.
So now we just got to see if there's any
other women that can hang with us.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
I guess yeah, absolutely, is there maybe some considerations, maybe
some people that you would like to kind of if
they're paying attention to this, kind of extend the invite to.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Well see, I heard that the best people move in silence,
So I can't put all my cards out on the table.
You know, we got to catch certain people, maybe like
fatal influence by surprise, because right now it's just me
and Kendall and there's like three of them, So right,
we can't let them know our next move exactly. You
and I know they watched this, so I can't give
my answers away exactly.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
We don't want to spoil this for anybody, of course.
Ren Sinclaire is our guest here on the show today.
NXT Deadline coming up here December sixth in San Antonio.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
You can still grab tickets ticketmaster dot com.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Story Wise, I gotta say you've been involved in some
pretty big moments. We talked about the Iron Survivor matches,
establishing your name and everything else.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Is there one moment.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
In NXT so far that you phil has really defined you?
And if you could do that moment over again, would
you change anything from it? Hm?
Speaker 3 (08:27):
I feel like to come out in my mind if
that's okay, if I can give.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
This, yeah, this is your show. I'm just here.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Oh awesome, Okay.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Well, I think personally, for me, getting involved in the
NQCC really helped give me a home here at NXT.
Before I was just bouncing around trying to find a friend,
and then I ended up realizing that you don't have
to find friends, that you can just blackmail someone to
(08:58):
be your friend and it might work out for the best.
So I feel like joining the NQCC really kind of
is one of the pillars in my time here so far.
And then the second one I would say was the
Iron Survivor a match. When you're in a match like that,
(09:19):
it is so chaotic, and I had some time to
reflect during the match. I was in the penalty box
for quite right, but in that little box, I don't
know how physics works or anything. But like the sound
that came from the crowd in Minneapolis, which I was
(09:40):
not expecting to care about me at all because it's like,
who am I? Just the sound that came in over
those walls and they were like counting down for me
to get out, and it just like lit a fire
in me. So that Iron Survivor match, I feel like
people saw me, like they actually saw me as an
(10:02):
NXT superstar and a competitor in this division. If I
could change anything about that, I mean, obviously I would
wanted to have won, true right, But I had a
blast and I did a lot of reflection in that box.
And hopefully I get to do the Iron Survivor Challenge
(10:23):
again this year. Hopefully Johnsena picts me so I can
maybe rectify last year and actually get a win in
San Antonio, which I considered to be like a second
home to me.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Absolutely, we're gonna put it out there in the universe.
It's gonna happen, and that's what we do here on
the show. It's in the universe now. Earlier I talked
about how we've been a fan of yours and we
go back to that incredible run that you had with
the NWA where you kind of really started to figure
out who at the time Maddie was right when you
look back at that chapter, New Environment, New Energy, totally
(10:54):
different style. Now that you're with WW what did you
learn about yourself as a performer that still shapes you now?
Speaker 3 (11:02):
I feel like like from the NWA, Like what did
I learned like from all that, Just like with wrestling,
especially coming up on the Independence and then going to
NWA and even like doing some extra work for other companies,
you have to really as weird as it sounds, you
(11:25):
have to really believe in yourself. You have to put
trust in the universe that there is something you are
working for. And as long as you believe and you
know like who you are to the core, like things
can happen. Injuries happen, matches might not always go your way,
(11:47):
but if you know who you are and you know
what your goals are, I feel like that will get
you through it. And I feel like that's a lot
of the trials and tribulations that I had. I second
guessed myself a lot, But at the end of the day,
I feel like when I finally established who Maddie was,
it was just me fully, wholeheartedly believing in myself and
(12:11):
what I was putting out into the universe. And I
think that's what people picked up on the most. They
believed in me because at that time I.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Believed in me right absolutely, and that was one of
the things that we we We were big fans then
and we're still big fans now. Of course, I know
our time is coming up here very shortly, and this
is always towards the end of the show.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
We would like to have some fun.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
We kind of give you that, you know, the Shawn
Michaels pencil now that WW is kind of working with
other companies. You see them with TNA. Oh, you got
your pencil right there, so I guess you're ready for
this one. With w W working with other companies, TNA
and Triple A and we've seen, you know, Naddy go
to the NWA. Is there anybody out there that you
would like to have that dream match from somebody outside
(12:55):
of WW with one of these other companies.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Ooh yes, And right now she is injured. Kylin King
Me and her had quite the history on the independence
on NWA and I'm waiting for her to come back.
She was signed with TNA. I'm waiting for her to
come back so that I can show her what I've
(13:19):
done and who I've become, because I feel like back
in the day, she definitely got a couple of licks
on me.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Time to get the It's the revenge tour for Ren Sinclaire. Everybody,
We're going to be wrong.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
In XT deadline coming up here December sixth in San Antonio,
your second home.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Last question for you music question.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
If we were to look at your playlist right now,
we're kind of scrolling.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Through, what's that that one song on there that would
surprise us that Wren is listening to right now?
Speaker 3 (13:53):
I am strange and for whatever reason, I really love
the song.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
What does the fox say?
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Oh my gosh, that is that is a classic song
that doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
It is genius. I was gonna say cinematic, but it's
not cinematic. It's musical, lyrical genius.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
It is an incredible song.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Maybe maybe we can figure out some way that, you know,
we could get that as one of your theme songs.
When you walk out to a p l E one day,
like people would. We already know the crowd's reaction when
Wren comes out. But if all of a sudden you
hear what does the Fox say? And you come out incredible,
Let's make it happen. Let's do it at Halloween having
next year and you come dressed out as a fox.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Yeah, and I think we should get the actual singer
of the song. I don't know how to pronounce his name.
Is it Yeo Yovis we should get any like that? Yeah,
we should get them, and it'll be a vibe.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
That'd be incredible.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Reren, And as an honor and privileged to have you
here on the show as we wrap things up before
we let you go, anything you want to say to
the fans watching or listening to this right now
Speaker 3 (14:57):
I would like to say hello and follow me, follow
Rens days, but most importantly, follow the Ren cc on nxt,
