Speaker 2 (00:12):
The way is finally over.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Game week is here for college football. This week we
have games that actually matter. Week zero is finally upon us.
Five games to kick us off, as Djokometz likes to
call it, the appetizer for the season. And then next
week we've got a good entree, you know, five ranked
on Rank games I believe it is. We've got Texas,
Ohio State, Notre Dame Miami, Clemson VERSU LSU. We got

(00:37):
a handful of great matchups next week, and we have
a really good matchup to start us off with Iowa
State and Kansas State are ranked on ranked matchup this
week in Week zero, but Game Week Nick McLay is
finally here. Welcome back everyone to football is king on
Fox Sports The Gambler.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
This episode, we are going to be hitting on all
five Week zero games.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Give our thoughts and our picks on those matchups, and
then go over there are conference winners. We're gonna go
over each of the major four conferences. Give our group
of five playoff pick as well, and then our national
champion as well as our Heisman. So tie in all
our off season podcast that we've talked about in preview,
these guys bringing all home and then have some quick

(01:15):
hitters on these five games this week.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
But Nick, welcome back. Game week is finally here.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Yeah, I'm just excited to start talking about football and
just being able to sit down and actually watch some
real meaningful games, especially this week it being an Iowa
State game.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
I'm very excited for that.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
We've been waiting for it for I mean, I don't
know god knows how long, but since the schedule came
out and we've just been talking about this week zero
and Week one matchups. The Week one matchups are insane,
probably one of the better weeks of this season, and
we get it right out of the gate with all
these top matchups.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
So I can't wait to get into that and.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Talk about excuse me, you know, the futures that we liked,
national championships, but national champions that we like, Heisman's that
we like.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
So I'm excited to get get you know started.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
All right, let's tie in all our off season coverage,
our off season focus that we did we broke down
pretty much every team that you need to know one
way or another. All the major Heisman contenders you need
to know one way or another. So we're gonna wrap
it up here before we get fully into these actual
football games that are coming up.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Enough of the speculation.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
We're gonna go through our conference champs SEC, Big Ten,
Big twelve, ACC, group of five of representative, the.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
National Championship, and then our Heisman.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
So we'll start at the top with the SEC Nick
Emir SEC Championship. Who is winning that matchup and representing
the SEC as one of the playoff teams.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Right now, I have Texas over LSU right now. I
really do love that LSU team. I think they can
they can make a run towards that SEC title that
I think Texas just right now arch taking over for
Quinn after sitting behind them, you know, learning in that
Sark system from the sidelines. I know, you know, the
inexperience is you know, a question mark. But overall, this
roster as a whole is probably one of the better

(02:58):
teams in the country on both sides of the ball.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
I mean, they tied their school.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Record and wins last year with thirteen three losses, and
two of them were to Georgia, and they in those
two games they allowed thirteen sacks, So there was a
clear problem to what they needed in those two games,
and they were a scoop and score away from beating
Ohio State in the playoffs. So, you know, they just
bring in one of the top high school classes in
the country. They have four top five classes, four straight

(03:23):
Top five classes. So I think with the way this
roster has kind of built, the coaches that they have
the experience on both sides of the ball, I think
this team Texas will be at the top of the SEC.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah. I have them actually winning the SEC as well.
You can get them on DraftKings two. In the SEC,
they are the favorite at plus two seventy. I have
them going a perfect twelve to zero in the regular
season actually and then obviously winning that conference championship game
to go to thirteen and oh but they're not my
national champion. I will say that I do have a
switch up there, But I do like them to run
the table. Big test Week one. You know, that'll I

(03:57):
think is their biggest rest of the season. Determining whether
or not they do run the table and go undefeated.
But the season is not over in any stretch of
the imagination if they do lose that game at Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
But I do like what they bring back, you know,
on both sides of the ball.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
By the year's end, you could look and say that
they have the best two players in college football. Hill
on the defensive side and arch Banning on the offensive side.
I think it's still a team that it's a lot
to be seen. A lot of speculation with Texas, like
we're kind of projecting them and what we think they're
going to be instead of a finished product. More so
like a Penn State team that we've seen and we've
seen all this talent accumulate and we've seen them win

(04:35):
win games. Kent Texas actually put all this potential out
into the field and get over the top.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Sark.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
It's got into the last two playoffs. Can he get
him over the top this year? I think that's how
he's ultimately going to be judged.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
But they go and.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Win the SEC here in year two Understark that that'll
be a hell of a year. So I like Texas
over Georgia plus two seventy two in the SEC. All right,
gover to the Big Ten. Now I'll start us off
in the Big Ten. I'm actually going to go with
Penn State there plus two to twenty. I have them
beating Ohio State in the playoffs or acuse me, in
the championship game. For the Big Ten, I have Penn

(05:07):
State losing to Ohio State in the regular season in
their one matchup. I think I had Ohio State going
undefeated in the regular season, but Penn State gets revenge
in the playoff game. James Franklin won in eighteen against
top five opponents during his time at Penn State. A
pretty wild stat there, but I was listening to a
conversation today and it was a good point. It's how
many times out of those whatever nineteen twenty games that

(05:29):
he's had a top five game that you could actually
look at both rosters and say, like, Penn State's roster is.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Better, maybe two or three times out of that scenario.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Now, I think Penn State goes into every single game
this season you can argue they have the better roster
or just as equal.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Ohio State and Oregon their two biggest tests.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
I think if they split those, they'll definitely be going
to the title game. At eleven and one and I
like them to get revenge over Ohio State, get over
the hump and win that Big Ten title.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Penn State two in the Big Ten plus two twenty.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, I'm with you with Penn State, but I have
them beating Oregon in the Big Ten title game. You know,
with everything Penn State has returning Drew Aller coming back,
this is the roster that you know, James Franklin, you know,
has built up to get over that hump, like you said.
But with Oregon, I think they they have you know,
they signed a top five recruiting class for a second

(06:18):
straight year and paired it with the top five transfer class,
so they bring in a lot of talent. I know
they've had a few injuries in camp right now, but
I still think the talent is there. Dante Moore takes
over that you know under center and with Makay usually
in the backfield, I think he could be one of
the more sneaky, you know, running.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
Backs in this conference.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
So I think Penn State over Oregon with you know
how this Big Ten is going.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
To shake out here, all right, we go to the
Big twelve now, and we've been on the same page
with the SEC and the Big Ten I hope we
have a different pick in the Big twelve, but I
think based on off some of our conversations, I don't
know if we will. This is a conference of parody.
I think you can make an argument looking at the
board six to seven different teams. I wouldn't be surprised

(07:02):
to see win this conference all the way at Kansas
State at plus five point fifty down to IOA stayed
at plus eleven hundred. I think all those teams kind
of are in the mix. But Nick, who do you
have winning the Big twelve here?

Speaker 4 (07:14):
Right now?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
I have Arizona State over Utah. But this really could
go any possible way the top five teams that you know,
we're just saying it literally could you could pull out
kind of a team in a hat, and you know,
it could be the Top five. It could be Kansas State,
it could be Texas Tech. But with me, I'm just
gonna go Arizona. With so much uncertainty and question marks

(07:35):
in this conference, I'm just gonna take, you know, the experience,
the chemistry with Kenny Dillingham, with Sam Levitt, Jordan Tyson.
But I do love this Utah team bringing in Dan
Pierre and you know, Jason Beck from New Mexico. There's
gonna be chemistry in that offense, even though it's a
revamped Utah team after having came rising on her quarterback.
So I think, you know, I'm gonna go with the

(07:57):
experience with Arizona State and the you know, the new
chemistry here in the Big Twelve with Utah and you
know a lot of that New Mexico team coming over
and you know taking over this offense in Utah.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Yeah, Arizona State plus five point fifty.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
They are tied with Kansas State, who kicks us off
on Saturday to win the Big Twelve, both sitting there
at plus five fifty. I actually do not have Arizona
State winning. I actually don't even have them making it.
I have them going nine to three. I think they'll
be knocking the right on the doorstep with that record,
But their three toughest games I believe this season are
all on the road, and they get dinged up in
at least two of those.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
And that hurts their chances of making it.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
I'm actually gonna go with the team that you have
losing the title game winning the Big Twelve title. I'm
gonna go with Utah at plus six hundred, and I
have them beating Kansas State the Faate at plus five fifty.
You look at Utah in their track record under Kyle
winning Him, they rarely have two down years in a row.
Last year was a really down year and they got
off to a good start, but Cam Rising goes out
that entire offense falls apart, that entire operation really kind

(08:55):
of fell apart. They go five and seven, and I
think that's kind of a motivating factor for this. Like
you touched on the gout and bring in Dan Pierre
at the quarterback spot. We've raved about him going to
have a great offensive line, a top ten pick potentially
there on the O line.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
We know they're gonna have a great defense.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
We know they have one of, if not the best
home field advantages in all of the Big twelve. And
you can argue the best coach in the Big twelve
as well under Kyle winning Him. So I really like
Utah to have a bounce back this year. I think
that we get we get back to that old Utah
way where they're just going to pound on teams, beat
teams up at the lion of scrimmage, and Dan Pierre
is going to run the ball ten to fifteen times
a game. They're gonna hand the ball off fifteen to

(09:31):
twenty times a game, and they're gonna throw the ball
on third downs only when they need to. I think
we see a real old school Utah team, and I
have them beating Kansas State in the Big twelve title
game plus six hundred there all right, last power forward
team to win it the ACC. I think we're both
gonna be on the same page here. Interested to see
who you have this team beating though, ACC champion?

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Nick, Who do you got?

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Yeah, I've Clemson, I think the clear front runner right
now in the ACC. I have them beating Louisville.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
I think Louisville isn't really even that far behind him either.
I just think this Clemson roster overall too overpowering for
really anyone else in this conference. Heisman caliber quarterback coming
back with all the surrounding pieces, Garrett Riley again coming
back as their offensive coordinator, with Dabo and Dabbo you
know kind of you know, dipped his toes into the

(10:19):
transfer porter finally. So I think this this Clemson team
is just way over anyone else in the ACC. Louisville
does have some explosive pieces in Isaac Brown, Miller Moss
on that offense. So it's gonna be a tough one.
But I do think Clemson is, you know, way above
anyone in the A SEC right now.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
I'm right there with you, Clemson over Louisville plus one
oh five. I think we've been and a lot of
people have leading kind of this Clemson back.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
To being the king of the ACC charge.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
I was out on them admittedly as a program going
into last year. I mean, they had a good year,
not a great year, like they're still not back to
that national championship standard. I think this is year that
they could get back their three potential top ten picks,
five potential first round picks I think in the mix
for this Clemson squad, so kind of like a Penn
State type of situation where this is the roster.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
That you've been recruiting, this is a roster that you've
been building.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Now it's time to kind of get back there over
the top, get back to national championship type glory. So
I think a great opportunity for them, and I also
have them beating Louisville.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Very high on that Louisville team.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
I got them going nine to three, but Clemson to
win it is plus one oh five. I will say,
between any of these conferences, my biggest wild card team
that I could. I think we sit back here in
December or January and like wow, that team is in
the College Football Playoff as one of the conference champions.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Georgia Tech. I'm buying as much Georgia Tech stock as
I can.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
If there's going to be one major surprise out of
these conferences, I'm going to say Georgia Tech to win
the ACC But for this sake, for my official pick,
I am going to roll with Clempson here over Louisville.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Plus one oh five. All right, G five playoff team.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
As we know, the five group or the Group of
five conference got the Mountain West, you got the American,
you got the c us A, you got the Sun Belt,
and you got the Why.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Is it escaping me?

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Right now?

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Let's see you today summed out American Mountain West?

Speaker 2 (12:13):
What the hell is the one escape with me? This
is bad?

Speaker 1 (12:19):
How can we forget? How can we forget the Mac Web?
Probably because there's a good chance that no Mac team's going,
but G five playoff team probably only getting one. You know,
last year there was a conversation maybe two would sneak in.
You got to think about Notre Dame probably getting a
bit as well, So at least one G five team
will be the automatic qualifier who gets it out of

(12:40):
that bunch of conferences.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Nick, I think it's gonna be Boise State, but I
really think NLV is going to be right behind him.
I don't think that there's two big of separation between
those two teams, And.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
If I were to bet, I think I would probably
bet for.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
U NLV just based off the value, and I kind
of want to see a different team other than State.
Obviously they made it last year with Ashton gent that
explosive offense. But I think this year it's still going
to be Boise State, but I wouldn't mind to sprinkle
in NLB either.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
That'll be a that'll be interesting that it was teams
both were in the mix, both in the race last year.
My team is Boise State as well, plus warreny eighty.
Kind of a boring preview here from us.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Hopefully we have a.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Different national champion in the Heisman, because we've been on
the same page for a lot of these. But I
think Boise State at plus one eighty to have a
pretty tough schedule, though they played Notre Dame an interesting
Week one game against USF that they could get thinged up.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
But if you look at their schedule, I think if
they just go.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Eleven and one and win the conference, will probably be
the best G five team. A few other teams to
keep an eye out for. I would say Toledo out
of the MAC. I think, especially if they be Kentucky
in Week one, that's a team that could win ten games.
Liberty might go undefeated at twelve and oher. So there's
a handful of teams that to keep an eye out for.
Southern miss maybe out of the CUSA, but Boise State
plus one and eighty I think is the obvious pick there.

(13:59):
But but open for playoffs. Secret we get something a
little bit different this year. All right, we go to
the National Championship Game College football playoff title Game. Nick McLay,
who is winning that this year? Who's holding up that
beloved trophy come January?

Speaker 3 (14:14):
As of now, I kind of hate to say this,
but I think it's going to be Penn State with
what they bring back. Everything that they bring back. They
improved the wide receiver room, which was the main issue
of last year. Drew Aller has some nice weapons to
throw two. Now they bring back both running backs, could
have one of the best you know running back to
in the whole entire country. Great offensive line also up front.
It's just they can't beat the big dog. They can't

(14:36):
get over that hump. I think they're h to seven
versus High State and Michigan in the last three years.
They host Oregon earlier in the year, so that you know,
obviously it being a home game, you should expect to
win there, you know, bringing all your fans in there.
Schedule after that, you've got at Iowa, at Ohio State,
but you have Indiana come to you. Last two national

(14:58):
champions have been big ten veteran teams, which this is
what this Penn State mold is. So you know, they
showed that they belonged last year put up thirteen wins,
which was Franklin's first you know, top five finish. Ever,
three losses were to three top teams in Oregon, Ohio State,
and Notre Dame. So with you know, bringing back that
veteran quarterback, you know all American running backs, good receiving room.

(15:20):
Now you know you're good up front on the trenches
on both sides of the ball. I think they have
great coordinators as well. I just think, you know, this
team has the build for you know, and the pressure
on them to be national champions.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
I think that's my biggest thing with Penn State.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Two. When you point to that and you point to
the last two national champions, there's two big ten teams
that came up short the year before and they wound
up being able to return and retain a lot of
their guys to to come kind of finish the story.
And I think that is the mindset with Penn State,
the reason why a lot of people are able to
kind of get over that Franklin hump and kind of
convince themselves into that. But I'm gonna go back to

(15:57):
the SEC for my national champion, going to go with
Georgia over LSU. Georgia is plus seven to fifty to
win the national title, and I actually have a little
bit of an interesting playoff in my seeding.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
I have Georgia as the six and I have LSU
as the nine.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
I think last year with Ohio State and with Notre Dame,
I think that was seven verse eight.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
So let's not just expect it to.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Be, you know, one verse two in the National title game,
expect to see a little bit of chaos. I think
when you look at Georgia though going into this year,
I won't be say they're being slept on or super
disrespected because they're still what the third favorite to win
the National Title I think at plus seven to fifty,
third or fourth, somewhere in that mix. But it feels
like this is the least talked about Georgia team over
the past four to five years. They don't have as

(16:39):
much flash, they don't have as much buzz, and much
like high end NFL talent, but I think this is
a year where you see a few guys on this
Georgia team kind of emerge. I think Thunderstockton fits that
team better than Carson Beck. They just see the guy
that doesn't turn the football over. And I think Kirby
Smart is going to be kind of using some bolletin
board material that this is a team that has not
been talked about as much, has not really been talked

(16:59):
about as a National champion contender. You have teams like
Texas above them. You have teams like Penn State above them.
You have teams like Ohio State above them, and with
everything that those teams lost last year with Ohio State Texas,
it's kind of disrespectful. I think that georgia'sn't really be
talking about in the mix. And let's not forget Georgia
beat Texas twice last year. Georgia beat Texas in the
college football playoff or excuse me, in the SEC title game.

(17:21):
So it's a scenario where this is still the king
of the conference.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Georgia.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Texas might have gone further and Georgia might have slipped
up in the playoff, but I do think it's a
scenario where Georgia is still equipped to win the national title.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
I still think they have arguably the best coach in
the sport. So give me the Georgia.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Bulldogs to get back on top plus seven to fifty
in an SEC versus SEC national championship game.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
I'll go with the Georgia Bulldogs this year.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
All right, last preseason pick before we actually get into
some football. Some quick hitters on the week zero games,
Heisman Trophy, Winter Nick thirty seconds or last give it
to me.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
I think I'm gonna go Garrett netsmaier Man.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
I love what they had, what they ring at LSU
was top five in passing yards last year through for
over four thousand yards and twenty nine touchdowns twelve picks.
I think he's one of those quarterbacks which is very confident.
He is a gun slinger. He goes out there, he
doesn't see a window that he doesn't like. He you know,
as a gun slinger. It could be good, could be bad.

(18:18):
But I think he's one of those that just is
a guy that is not afraid to go out there
and sling it, and he's got the guys that throw too.
I think he's one of those guys that can really
take this LSU team to that next level. He came
back for a reason. So to me, I'm gonna go
Garrett Alsmeira as he.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
My heisman, is my guy that I've been pumping up
all off season. I'm gonna go with Lenoris Sellers at
plus eighteen hundred. I think if he has number similar
to what Jayden Daniels had a few years ago and
he just leads this team to a nine and three record,
I think he's certainly gonna be in the next Now.
If arch Manning leads Texas to the thirteen and oh
that I predicted, he's probably going to be the highs.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
If Garrett Nosmeyer goes out there and puts up the
numbers that were.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Expecting him to put up and LSU wins the SEC,
he's probably gonna be the highest pot. But if Lenora's
Sellers goes out there has the numbers that Jad and
Daniels just put up a couple of years ago at
LSU and takes them to that nine and three record,
which I think is the bar to be able to
win the Heisman Trophy, I think he's going to be
right there. And with that schedule that they play a
Murders Rows schedule, you can argue a top five toughest

(19:21):
schedule in the country. He's going to have the chance
to perform against top fifteen, top ten teams each and
every week, and if he goes out there and dominates them,
that's going to make a statement. And he finishes a
year off against Clemson that could be the number one
team that's the country, potentially Clemson, And if he goes
out there against the defense that has three NFL first
round picks probably on that side, and he dominates them,

(19:41):
that's going to leave a lasting memory for these voters.
So Lenora's Sellers a bit of a bit of a
home run swing at a plus eighteen hundred. There not
not one of the favorites, but I think he's arguably
the most talented quarterback in the entire country. So give
me Lenora Sellers as your twenty twenty five Heisman Trophy winner.
All Right, that wraps up our off season coverage. We
can now finally fast forward to some real football.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
One really good game.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
Here with Iowa State and Kansas State, and then we
got a few solid ones.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
You know, it's just gonna be nice to have football
back on the screen.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
But nick Iowa State number twenty two, verse twelve, our
verse seventeen Kansas State noon kickoff on ESPN over in Ireland. Case,
State's a three point favorite over under sit at forty
nine and a half.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Give me a winner here and any plays you like
in this matchup.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
As an Iowa State fan, I have to take iOS
State here, so I'm going to go Iowa State plus
three and win outright. But I really don't feel too
confident in this game. I've been very high on Avery Johnson.
I think sprinkling a Heisman ticket on him is honestly
worth it. I think I see it at plus five
thousand right now.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
But with Iowa State.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Losing two thousand yard receivers, that's an insanely tough, insanely
big blow for at offense even returns a rock oback
that and a good coach in Matt Campbell.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
But there's a guy that I think.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Could really break out in this off is their tight
end Ben Brahmer six seven, two fifty. I think a
guy that is can just be a safety blanket, a
reliable guy for Rock go back in the middle of
the field. Now that he lost two thousand yard receivers,
he's gonna need someone to throw it to. And a
big six to seven tight end is always going to be,
you know, a reliable target to go to it over

(21:18):
the middle of the field. So overall I'm gonna be
on Iowa State. Probably won't really overall bet it is.
I'm someone that usually likes to emotional hedge, but I'm
gonna go Iowa State here out right over Kansas State.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
I'm going to take the Wildcats in this one. I
do think it's a close game, might come down to
the final possession, who has a ball last type of scenario,
But I'm gonna go k State like twenty four to twenty.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
I think the Unders a good play.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
I think we see a lot of defense in this one,
but I like Kansas State minus three under forty nine
and a half. A couple of trends in this one.
Since Chris Climban took over at Kansas State in twenty nineteen,
they are forty three to thirty and three against the spread.
That's the sixth best record in the country against the spread,
seven eighteen and two against the spread as a favorite,
and ten seven and one against the spread against the

(22:05):
ranked team. So some trends there pointing in the Kansas
State direction. And when you look at the matchup last year,
I was State one that one twenty nine twenty one,
that was at Iowa State. Though you had a neutral
site in this one and Rock Obeck had arguably his
worst performance of the season, they still were able to
win that game. I think that was a little bit
more credit to the defense in that one. But he

(22:25):
went thirteen of thirty five for one hundred and thirty
seven yards only average three point nine yards per tempt.
I expect Kansas State to kind of roll out the
blueprint and I expect.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
That defense to be a little bit better this year.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
So I was State losing a lot to the NFL
Draft last year, their top two receivers. I think it
might be a little bit of tough sledding out of
the gate. They probably could have used a layup game
against like a East Tennessee State or a Knnessall State
or something like that instead of Kansas State.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
But I like Kansas State to get on the board.
Here moved to one and oh after this week's zero game.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
All right, quick hitters, Now I host stay at UNLV
four o'clock. You and l The's are twenty five and
a half point favorite over under sixty two and a half.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Anything on that matchup.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Probably not twenty six allowed to take if anything, maybe
over I like, you know, seeing some points.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
It's seen it at sixty five and a half.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
It's something to sixty five and a half now I
see it on CBS Sports right now, it's on sixty
five and a half.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Sixty two and a half. When I made this document on.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
Monday, Jesus, Yeah, I mean I don't I'm probably not
gonna touch anything. But if I were to touch anything,
you would probably be over in that one, whatever the
number lands on.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Yeah, I think I actually like UNLV to cover because
they are going to be playing two new quarterbacks. Dan
Mullen his first game at head coach. I think he
looks to go out there and make a splash. But
former Michigan quarterback Alex Orgie will be playing, and former
Virginia quarterback Anthony Calandria. They're both going to be playing.
So you got to look at that where it's a situation.
Dan Mullan wants to see what quarterback kind of fits
this offense best in game in game action. But these

(23:58):
guys are going out there competing for job. They're gonna
be looking to score on every drive. They're not going
to be knee in the ball. They're not going to
be trying to run the clock out. So I really
like NLV to put up some points. I think they
could definitely cover this twenty five and a half. I
would even look at the team total, it's probably going
to be north of forty points.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
But the second game where I think you.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
And LV could definitely go out there and hang a
fifty burger on Idaho State in this matchup. Next matchup
pretty solid one actually, Fresno State Kansas six thirty on Fox.
Kansas State a twelve and a half point favorite over
under fifty and a half. Jaylynn Daniels back again for Kansas,
a guy that feels like been there forever, and E J.
Warner now the quarterback there for Fresno State. Anything for

(24:35):
this matchup, I've hadn't lean anything.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
I'd probably go Kansas. I'll take the points with Kansas.
I still can't believe Jennon Daniels is playing college football.
I feel like he's like thirty years old. He probably
is thirty years old. But yeah, I'll take Kansas in
the points. Twelve and a half I'm seeing right now,
so to give me them over Fresno State.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
I like the over in this one, fifty and a half.
Jaylen Daniels, as we talking about, very experienced, and E. J.
Warner is very experienced. He's been productive wherever he's gone.
I think these our two teams are gonna be able
to put up points in Kansas. Just a side note
on them, a team interesting team to watch. Started out
one and five last year, but won three of their
last four, including beating ranked teams in Iowa, State by

(25:17):
U and Colorado.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
So they got some momentum going into this year.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Their quarterback back, they could be a sneaky team there
in the Big twelve. But I think this one is
a game pretty well equipped for the over with two
really experienced quarterbacks. All right, Two more games for Week zero,
Sam Houston at Western Kentucky seven o'clock on CBS Sports.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Western Kentucky minus ten over under sixty and a half.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
I'll probably take Sam Houston plus the ten. I love
betting the Sam Houston bear What are they Bearcats or
something like? I like rotten them. I don't really know
too much about them, honestly, I know the Hilltoppers are
are a good team. But I'll take you know, Sam
Houston State with just based off of you know, their
fun and.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Battle another game where I liked it over.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
If you've watched Western Kentucky over the years, this is
a team that likesa go out there and throw the
ball fifty sixty times a game.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
They're they're gonna air it out.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
And Sam Houston as well, bringing in a new coaching staff,
they might not be ready for this air raid attack
from Western Kentucky.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
So I'm gonna go with the over of sixty and
a half. In that matchup.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Last one, we have Stanford a underdog going to Hawaii. Stanford,
your ACC team, traveling all the way out to Hawaii
for a seven to thirty kick on CBS. Kind of disappointed.
This one's not a little later in the.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Night, give you that ten o'clock kickoff, But is what
it is?

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Hawaii at two and a half point favorite here over
a power five team over under fifty two and a half.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Yeah, I'm taking Hawaii here. I think Stanford could be
one of the worst teams in the country. They're definitely,
in my opinion, gonna be the worst team in the ACC.
And you know, a fun team to watch in Hawaii.
I think they're gonna go go out there and you know,
have something to prove against. You said, a power four team,
So give me a give me Hawaii here.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
I'm gonna take the powerful team in Stanford as a
dog here plus two and a half, and I.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
Think they're gonna win it outright.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
If you look at Stanford's schedule, I think they're gonna
be an underdog.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
In most likely every game.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
This is probably your best chance of getting on the
board with a win here. I think there's gonna be
a ton of emphasis on getting this win, being disrespected
as an underdog, as a Power four team going to
a G five team. So I think this is Stanford's
kind of super Bowl. It's a little disappointing to say
that it's not even week one yet, in Week zero
and they're playing their super Bowl. But you look at

(27:29):
their schedule, you look at their roster, it's just not
really ready right now.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Give it a few years.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
I think Andrew luck is gonna get that program headed
in the right direction. But I do like them to
get on the board here and get a win. So
give me Stanford plus two and a half as an
underdog there, but I'll do it for football. Is king
wrap up of our all season coverage. You give you
our conference winners, our national champion, our Heisman, and Week
zero picks.
