Speaker 1 (00:00):
Number one on your car radio preset hand then new
and improved Diehard radiop WDAES and WD two seven three D.
Philadelpia I is Fox Sports Radio The Gambler.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Welcome on back to football.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Is king here on Fox Sports The Gambler, Ryan Coyle
and Nick McLay for our weekly show, talking a little
bit of college, a little bit of NFL.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Nick. Week one in the NFL officially in the books.
We got a few weeks of.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
College football under our belt now, so we're officially back,
but no slowing down from here, full steam ahead.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
A lot of great college games.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
We're gonna break down the three big ones this week
and then get over to the NFL talk a little
bit of what happened in Week one, and then Super
Bowl rematch this week in week two between the Eagles
and the Chiefs. So a lot of stuff on the
docket to hit on today. Welcome back, Nick, and how
are we Yeah?
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Like you said, there's a lot of stuff to talk about,
a lot of stuff to go over.
Speaker 5 (00:54):
We're of fish.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
With both NFL and college football, so with great to
see that. A ton of good games this week upcoming,
ton of stuff to talk about from week one in NFL,
and like you said, super Bowl rematch.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
That's gonna be one of the better games of the weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
A couple of good primetime games as well, so you
know we're gonna touch on all of them and even
recap some of the stuff that happened last week but
came wait to get into it.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Yeah, football is king every week here.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
We're gonna talk a little college, little NFL, just like
we have been over the past few weeks, the past
few months at this rate, in twenty five minutes or less,
So try and get everything kind of the main topics
of the week out there for you guys coming up.
So we're gonna start with college. Back to the college
game this week. To begin, we got three ranked matchups
to break down. We got number six Georgia at number
(01:40):
fifteen Tennessee. We got number sixteen Texas A and M
at number eight Notre Dame, and.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Then we have Florida. We'll actually hit on four. We'll
make quick game of these two.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Florida who had a very disappointing loss last week to
South Florida. They traveled to number three LSU and then
number eighteen South Florida. Maybe the surprise team in the
country so far. They will travel to number five Miami
See if they can pull off a massive upset two weeks.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
In a row.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
But I want to start nick with the game on
three at three thirty on ABC between number six Georgia,
who's two and oh at number fifteen Tennessee, who's also
two and oh.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
George is a three and a half point favorite over
under fifty and a half.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
We were texting before this this came open that like
seven seven and a half and has gone all the
way down to three and a half.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Tennessee's without their top two corners.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Georgia doesn't seem to have any major injuries at this point,
but from what I've been listening to, people are a
little bit worried about how they've looked so far. I'm
kind of in the camp of, you know, they just
went out there and took care of business and kind
of kept things vanilla heading into this matchup, But interested
to hear what your thoughts are on Tennessee and Georgia
in this matchup and if Tennessee can make you know,
an upset here in this one and their biggest win
(02:46):
probably since that win over Alabama a few years ago.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
When Hype beat him for the first time.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yeah, I mean, like you said, George's only played Marshall
and Austin Pai, but they've only or they put up
seventy three points and only allowed thirty in those two games.
So I think, honestly, like if you watch those games
and see how they operate, this team is just different
and would they're a legit team in.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
This in this SEC.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
So and on the flip side, Tennessee one hundred and
seventeen points allowed forty three so seventy two last week
against East Tennessee. You get a home game against the
top ten team and are underdogs. This is a great
opportunity for Tennessee to come out there prove that they're.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
At the top of the SEC.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
So I think what well Tennessee need have to do
is contain gunner Stock someone that can use his legs
to his advantage. Isn't really a flashy runner more of
I think you've said it before. I'll put your head down,
initiate contact type of runner at seventy three yards last
week and two touchdowns. So kind of interested to see
how Tennessee defense handles at Georgia offense and offense or
(03:48):
Tennessee bringing in Joey Aguil from UCLA the whole Nico
all season drama. He's really impressive so far five hundred
thirty five passing yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions, which
was a big question Marcus of his turning the ball
over sixty six percent completion percentage, So he's gonna have to.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
Be on his game in this one. Going to have
to run the.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Ball well, able to hit the big plays down the field.
I don't think you can really beat this Georgia team
their defense just taking in dunkin down the field. I
think you're gonna have to take him shots and on
the opposite side of the ball, Tennessee, like you said,
down two cornerbacks. So I think this Georgia running game
can really overpower that front line deep for Tennessee. With
Nate Frazier Gunner also in that mix, I think give
(04:29):
me Georgia and to cover the spread there, I'll go
Georgia thirty Tennessee twenty. Slightly into that under too.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Yeah, I think the story of the week this week
in college football has the potential to be Joe Aguilar.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Can he go out there and upset the Georgia team
at home.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
I think I was on a little down on Tennessee
coming into the year. I think the kind of the
consensus was that they would take a step back. But
he has a chance to really make a major name
for himself in college football this weekend knocking off Georgia.
Georgia has dominated Tennessee kind of in this matchup since
Hypel has been there with Kirby, they've really taken apart
kind of that that gimmick offense that Tennessee runs. Ken
(05:06):
Joey Aguilar go out there and make one or two
major plays to.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Kind of help them in this one, because you know
the crowd is going to be into it.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
You know this is going to be probably the biggest
game of the season at Newland Stadium, and we saw
firsthand last year.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Nick how electric that environment can be.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Ken Joey Aguilar go out there and have kind of
like that Johnny Manziel type of moment against Alabama.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
I think he has the capability, the talent too, but
let's see it.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
You know, he's played Tennessee or excuse me, he's played
Syracuse and he's played what was it last week, East
Texas A and M or something like that. And as
we know before he was playing, Yeah, he was playing
at freaking appalation state before.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Like this is his first major test.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
I mean, you got a couple of nice warm up
games in, but I'm interested to see what he does
against the Kirby Smartlet Georgia defense. It's one of those
situations where I'm just not going to take Tennessee until
I see.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Them prove, prove them do it.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
They really struggled a few years ago against this Georgia defense.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
I think Kirby kind of has the blue blueprints.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
They have the physicality, and I don't think this Georgia
program is afraid to go to Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
I think they're gonna win this one. Really like that
at three and a half.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Very shocked to see that number coming flying down that much,
But I think Georgia has the makings to go on
the road and when this game and cover that spread.
So give me Georgia, like thirty one to twenty four
Georgia Manster three and a half over fifty and a half.
All right, Second biggest matchup of the week in my eyes,
Number sixteen Texas A and M at two and Zho
they go to number eight Notre Dame, who lost to
Miami week one, had to buy Last week they're oh
(06:29):
and one seven thirty kick on NBC. Notre Dame still though,
with six and a half point favorite, even as they
sit at ohen one over under forty nine and a half.
Last year, Notre Dame goes two, Texas A and M
pulls off the outright upset.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
I think Texas A and M gets revenge in this spotnight.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Yeah, I mean, Notre Dame coming off that really tough
loss at Miami, but like you said, is coming off
of BUYE where they can kind of reset, take a look,
you know, take a step back, take a look at themselves,
see what they need to change heading into you know,
another hard game against Marcel Reed and Texas A and M.
And one thing I'm kind of looking forward with game
is the play calling. Like I know, Miami's defense is legit,
(07:03):
and you know, a few freak plays happened in Miami's favor,
But Jeremi Love only had ten carries for thirty three yards,
only had four receptions, so he only touched the ball
fourteen times and for a running back that's being talked
about being the first off the board in next year's draft.
I think you got to get a little more production
out of him. I know the game script kind of
was going in in that way with the Miami defense
(07:25):
obviously having a big impact on that, but still would
like to see their get their star guy the ball
a little bit more.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
Wouldn't be surprised if this.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Noted game offense kind of opens it up more, kind
of taking some more deep shots to set up Love
later in the game. And on the other side, A
and M put up over forty points in both games,
but has given up for twenty two in each. The
defense kind of needs to tighten up they want to
play this notre Dame offense. Reid has looked really good,
someone that we've talked about this offseason that you know
has a huge impact on the game with in the
(07:54):
ground game five hundred and nine passing yard, seven touchdowns,
no interceptions, leaves the team in rush yards on a
team with Leveon Moss and Ruben Owens, so he can
be effective in the run and also with his arm
not turn the ball over as well. So if this
A and M offensive line can hold up, I think
he could go off.
Speaker 5 (08:11):
He could run wild.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
I don't know if they have the willpower to really
win this game. So I'm going to go out right
Notre Dame twenty eight Texas A and M twenty seven.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
I mean Notre Dame twenty eight A and M.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Twenty four covering that six and a half with the
overhitting that one.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Yeah, I think this is the I'm very interested to
see what happens in that Georgia Tennessee game, but this
is one I'm kind of most fascinating because as the
offseason went on, I was buying into this Texas A
and M team a little bit more. I thought, based
off their schedule, they could be like a ten and
two squad and definitely make the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
They win this one, I think they're in the driver's
seat for sure for a playoffs spot. Notre Dame. If
you lose this game, I think there's a.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Legit chance, even if they went out and go ten
ten and two, that they miss the playoffs because their
schedule from here on out is very easy. USC probably
the toughest opponent left you have, like Arkansas in the
mix there.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
He got Boise State a lot of games that I.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Think they'll probably be close to, if not a double
digit favor in it. This is their last chance, I
think to get a real kind of statement win outside
of that USC game.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
So I think this one is very important Notre Dame.
I think it's kind of a cherry on top type
of game for Texas A and M.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
If you win this one, I think you're certainly in
the driver's seat to make the playoff, as long as
you take care of business and find your way probably
to ten and two. But for Notre Dame, I think
this is a huge game for them, And if they
lose this one and starting out zero to.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Two, you know that that could spiral on this team.
So it's a huge spot here for them to bounce back.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
It's a game I'm gonna stay away from because that
six and a half number it confuses me. I thought
it would be closer to like a three and a
half four type of situation, But to be catching a
touchdown here at home, that's a pretty eye pop into me.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
So it's a stay away from me.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
I couldn't really decide on either side, but if you're
gonna make me pick a straight up winner, I will
take Notre Dame to bounce back. I think there's a
lot of emphasis on this game to kind of write
the ship after that performance against Miami where a lot
of people were picking them to win. So give me
Notre Dame to win, but I'm not gonna bet this game,
all right quick? On our way out for college a
little double dose here Florida. Very disappointing loss last week.
(10:06):
DJ Lagway hasn't looked great through two weeks. They're at
one in one. They traveled to number three LSU, who's
two and oh seven thirty kick on ABC arguably the
best environment all of college football at night down there
in Baton Rouge.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Do you think ls Who's going to take care of business?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Or do you think Florida has a chance to go
out there right there wrongs and pull off this out
right upset?
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Think?
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Yeah, I mean last year Florida put off that late
season upset over this LSU team. But I think, you know,
this is a whole new year with guys that really
want revenge in that game. LSU's been you know, I
think the team that I think I've been highest on
coming into this season with, in my opinion, the biggest
question mark just being a head coach with Brian Kelly,
can he really lead this team to you know that,
you know sec top that we think that they can be.
(10:46):
I havens Meyers my Heisman pick as of now and
right now he's second at plus eight point fifty. But
you know, LSU a great win open up the year
at Clemson, tough environment, and that's really all it takes
for a team to you know, startkit rolling, get that
momentum for the rest of the season.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
Billy Nypier and DJ Lagway.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Head in the death Valley with honestly, you know, nothing
to lose really at this point right now, you already
had that terrible loss. So Florida they're gonna come out
guns blazing, They're gonna come out. You got to come
out with the foot in the kas hold nothing back
if you want to pull off this road upset. They're
a team that loves to shoot themselves in the foot
rather than get beat. So you know they love to
lose games for themselves. We've seen it time and time again.
(11:25):
And if you're going to beat this LSU team, you
got to be clean. You gotta protect the ball, and
for me, I don't trust Florida to do that. So
I'm going to go LSU outright in this one. I
think and they cover as well, slightly into the under.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Yeah, I think this is kind of put your balls
on the table out there. If your DJ Lagway type
of situation, like he played pretty well down the stretch
last year, I thought, but the hype that he was
getting going into this offseason, like he was being hyped
up as a Heisman Trophy, he was getting hyped up
as the best quarterback in the country.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
You don't lose that game last week.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
If your DJ Lagway against South Florida down in the
swamp at home, that's an inexcusable loss.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
You gotta show go out there and show me something
this week.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
If you're that great, you're gonna elevate I think the
people around you. I thought the defense played pretty well
last week for Florida. They held their own certainly against
a USF offense, and I think we're gonna see be
one of the more high powered power for G five
offenses in the entire country. So I think there's a
lot of pressure on TJ. Lagway in this one, but
also for LS. You just continue to take care of business,
win these home games. You find yourself to ten and two,
(12:26):
eleven and one, your shirt fire in the playoffs. Florida,
as we know, they have the toughest schedule arguably in
the entire country. Last week they were penciling in as
a win and this is really where it.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Starts to get tough.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
They still have to play Miami next week, who's looked
really good out of the shoot. Could be a long
year for Florida, just like it was last year that
we were talking about. But we saw they put the
ability to string together some win. So let's see what
you got this week, DJ Lag, I think a lot
of pressures on you, but I'm gonna take else you
to win and cover at home after what we saw
last week from Florida, I think this is just a
spot where it's a little too hard to get back
(12:57):
up from that.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Give me Lusu at home.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
There our Nick Quick on our way out for college
Number eighteen, South Florida one of the stories of the
sports so far so far at two and o at
number five Miami, who's two and ozer as well. Do
you think South Florida as a seventeen and a half
point dog has a chance to pull off yet again
another outright upset, just like they did over Florida last week.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
Yeah, I don't know about the outright upset, but right
now I'm seeing eighteen and a half on DraftKings and
I like that. I think they've shown that they can
hang with, you know, the top. I know Florida has
been a little down, I guess, but they've got the
roster and they went into the swamp and one outright.
So in this one, I think I would take that
eighteen and a half.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
And you know, if you're really that confident in by them, Brown,
it's worth a sprinkle.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
I personally don't think I would do that, but I
think at plus six twenty five right now, it's worth it.
Speaker 5 (13:44):
With the way that offense has looked.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
We've both been down on Miami this whole season or
this whole all season, but if come out hot, like
you said, so, I think I trust more obviously handling
eighteen and a half rather than the money line, but.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
I think it's worth broth sprinkle on each other.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yeah, I like the eighteen and a half.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Last week, South Florida's my dog of the week and
they wound up winning out right, so I'll back them again.
It's a little bit of a head scratchers why they're
not you know this isn't closer to like fourteen and
a half.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Thirteen and a half somewhere in that regard after that
win last week.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
But South Florida, I think it's got some momentum and
I think they'll be able to keep this one close.
So definitely like them to keep that one within eighteen
and a half. I think they can even keep that
one to single digits. But Miami did surprise me in
Week one. Last week was Bethune Cookman, so take that
game with a grain of salt, but I think they'll
get to win at home, but South Florida does cover there.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
All right, let's turn our attention over to the NFL.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Now, we had a great game last night and on
Monday Night football recording this on Tuesday night, JJ McCarthy
looked like a beast in the second half, really took
over after they really looked like crap at to be
any of that, and he throws at pick six.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
He kind of thought that was the nail on the coffin,
but they just kept fighting.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
So that was a very impressive performance everd by the
Vikings all week on. What was your just overall biggest
takeaway from Week one? Your kind of biggest surprise in
a positive regard, negative regard, or just the thing that
stuck out to you the most.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
With last night, I mean, JJ McCarthy really made me
eat my words. I did not think he was like that,
the way that he could just put away that first half,
just flush that away, and then come out in the
second half and perform the way that he did. He
you know, he showed a lot last night, and that,
you know, is very encouraging for that Minnesota team. If
(15:29):
they can get that production out of JJ. With how
good that defense is having Justin Jefferson on the outside
and that running game as well up with the offensive line,
that Minnesota team can you know.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
Surprise a lot of people.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
I was very down on them, but I mean after
one game, you know, I may may be very wrong
on that. And I think with the top, the Dolphins
are exactly I think the team that we thought they
were going to be.
Speaker 5 (15:51):
They go out there, only put up eight.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Points, give up thirty three to Daniel Jones, and actually
make Daniel Jones look like one of the best.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Quarterbacks in the league.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
So I think those two takeaways from me and heading
into this upcoming week right now, Patriots are underdogs to
the Dolphins.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Right now and plus one one and a half down
in Miami.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
In my opinion, I would just go with the Patriots
right there on full fade of the Dolphins. Not really
you know, high on the Patriots team right now after
that loss to the Raiders, but full fade right now
for any team that's playing the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
In my opinion, Yeah, that was a lifeless performance.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
It already has the vibes of a team that's kind
of quit in the early going. We've had weird vibes
all off season, through training camp, press conferences, everything in between.
That that seems like a team that's ready to implode
fully at any second. So one to keep an eye
out for sure. Thursday we got a really good matchup.
Some people think that this could be a potential preview
(16:49):
of the NFC Championship game with the Commanders at Want
to Know, they go two Green Bag to play they
Want to Know Packers for eight to fifteen kickoff on
Thursday Night Football.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
On Amazon Prime.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Packers are a three and a half point favor here
over under forty eight and a half tweeted it out
the other day. Don't have the statistic in front of
me exactly. But Matt Lafleur in the spot as a
home favorite since he took over in Green Bay in
twenty nineteen, he is the best coach against the spread
in the entire NFL. In the spot yet twenty eight
and seventeen against the spread, so as a home favorite
(17:20):
since taking over in twenty nineteen, he covers sixty two
percent of the time. They are three and a half
point favorite here against the Commanders on Thursday Night Football.
Very convincing win over the division rival Detroit Lions last week.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Do you think that'll take care of business at home
this week too?
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:34):
I think they do.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
I know, you know how good James Daniels is and
how honestly they looked too against the Giants, but also
that Giants defense isn't really anything right home about. I
loved how the Packers looked last week. I know we
have been in a debate this whole offseason. He was
going to win that division. I've been with the Packers.
I'm still going to back the Backers here at three
and a half. I know Jordan Love I think was
(17:55):
injured a little bit too, even after this last week.
I think he was clear though, but still give me
the Packers minus three and a half.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
I did take a prop.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Already in this one. Jane Daniels over to twenty passing yards.
I still think he can sling the rock. You know
he loved Fien Diebo Samuel last week. I think it
kind of flips to Terry this week. So give me
Jane Daniels two twenty passing yards in that one.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
I'm excited for that one to see kind of if
they're able to the Packers come out and look like
that back to back, if that was more so about
them or more so about what the Lions kind of
looked like with two new coordinators this situation. They didn't
look very convincing at all. So interesting spot there, Thursday
night football. Very good matchup, all right. I want to
(18:41):
get over for our last kind of game breakdown, head
over to Kansas City for a Super Bowl and rematch.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
As we know, the Eagles take down the Chiefs last year.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Forty to twenty two in the Super Bowl Game was
never really in question.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Forty to six at one point in that one absolute
beat down.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
You know the Chiefs are gonna have that in the
back of the Mahomes back obviously. Kelsey back an you
read back all those guys back. This is a one
that they certainly had circled on the calendar. America's Game
of the Week Fox will be there. Need I say
any more, but a huge spot here for the Chiefs.
I know they're a very talented team. At the end
of the day, they're most likely going to win the
(19:19):
West and not gonna surprise us if they're in the
AFC title game.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
But don't think that they looked that great last year.
They just found ways to win.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
The Eagles eventually exposed them in the Super Bowl and
they start out owning one, losing that game to the Chargers.
And I got the stat in front of me here.
Teams starting in the NFL season zero and two make
the playoffs very rarely, with the overall odds being around
eleven and a half percent since nineteen ninety So that's.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Pretty wild there.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Teams start zher and two since nineteen ninety have made
the playoffs eleven and a half percent of the time.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
It's pretty insane.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
And since the twenty twenty season, the odds have become
even tougher.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Nineteen of twenty one teams in.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
The last three years to have that have began oh
and two missed the playoffs, so the odds aren't in
your favorite there, and the Eagles are still coming into
this one as a favorite.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
They originally opened as a dog.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
I think the line is sitting at like Eagles as
a one point favorite right now. I'm not expecting the
same dominant performance because they played almost perfect.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Football in that Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
But Nick, are you expecting them to go to Lamba
or excuse me, to Kansas City and win on Sunday afternoon?
Speaker 4 (20:21):
I mean, right now, I'm seeing a lot of people
are the Chiefs right now? With all like you, the
revenge talk and everything. The backs are against the wall.
You can't start zero and two. You know this is
a Chiefs team that's going to come out one in
blood after what did to them, especially with the game
being in Ka City this week. So I think, you know,
in my opinion, I'm going to go with the Eagles.
(20:44):
Up until this morning, I think looking.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
At the game, I was on the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
But I think one thing I'm interested in the city
on the Eagle side is how can we contain their
receivers with Worthy might not be able to play, but
they still have Hollywood Brown that went for ten catches,
not even on yards last week, and we saw how
shaky our quarterbacks were last week against Dallas. So Eagles
are going to have to clean that up on our
side of the ball. On offense, I think Jalen Hooks
(21:08):
Hurts looked really good. Stats won't blow you away, but
he does what he needs to do to win football games.
His ability to use legs his legs when he needs it,
and if he isn't trunning the ball over or forcing anything,
the Eagles win games. The Eagles can beat anyone. So
with you know aj Brown can is he healthy? I
think this is a good game for Smitty to get back.
I note he kills the Chiefs in his previous games.
(21:31):
Like I said, heading into the season, I said had
this scratch in as an Eagles loss. But right now
on flipping I think Jalen will show everyone why is
a top quarterback in the league. Doesn't care what you
think about his play style, doesn't care what you think
about really his stats. He just cares about winning and
I think this Sunday he shows it. So go out
there and give me the Birds outright in this one.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with the old doc rivers term
and just say this is a schedule loss. Like if
this game was Week eight, week nine, I'm probably going
to give the Eagles win here. I think they're the
better team. I think they've shown that they can out
play the Chiefs. Even in the super Bowl that they lost.
I think that we can argue that they definitely outplayed
them in that game. Then they go the next season
and they win in Kansas City. So it's a spot
(22:11):
where they where we've seen that they're able to go
to win before and then obviously the Super Bowl last year.
But this is just such a tough spot with that
statistic that I brought up, the teams over the last
three years that have started two nineteen of twenty one
of them have missed the playoffs. Sure, the Chiefs if
they do start oh and two, could be an outlier
for that statistic, but kind of the money's there, the
(22:32):
facts are there, the proof is in the put in
whatever term you want to use that if you start
owing two, you have a very steep uphill climate.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
That's going to be a very tough afcus.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
A lot of people love the Broncos, a lot of
people love the Chargers after what they showed. A lot
of people are high on the Raiders. I think they
could be a wild card team potentially. It's not a
division that you want to be climbing uphill and so
huge emphasis on this one, especially with the revenge. I
think the Chiefs are going to find a way to
squeak this one out. I think it's going to be
an ugly game, but one of those games where the
Chiefs just at the end of the day find a
way to win. Hate to say it, but Eagles have
(23:01):
a very tough four game stretch I think to start
the year. I think all the teams that they play
besides the Cowboys last week, could be a team that
represents their conference in the Super Bowl, Chiefs, Rams, Bucks.
If you're able to walk out of that two and two,
I would consider that a success for the early going,
especially with not playing much in preseason, a lot of
new faces on defense, the offense with the new offensive coordinator.
(23:23):
If you're able to get out of that stretch two
and two, Cowboys, Chiefs, Rams, and Bucks, I would consider
that a success.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
So I'm gonna take the Chiefs to win this.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
One slightly like a twenty three to twenty type of game.
Similar score to the Eagles the other night, But give
me the Chiefs to get to win there at home
before we head out.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Nick.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
Any other games that catch your eye in the NFL
this week that are jumping off the page, whether it's
a great matchup or a certain bet that you like
in the games that are not Eagles Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Yeah, the Monday night game with the Texans and the Bucks.
Bucks are three point dogs right now, and the Texans
didn't even score a touchdown last week, So I think
I'm with the Bucks. I love their offense. Love what
a Kouka showed last week.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
I know me.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
Oh yeah, I think it was it four catches, two
of them for touchdowns. But he looked so good. Mike
Evans looks so good. That defense didn't.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
Really look all that well that I you know, am
holding up to the standard that they should be. But
the Texans offensive line is absolutely terrible. So I think
they get after C. J. Stroud this week, even though
it is in Houston. I think Bucks are a live
dog in that one.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Yeah, another spot there where Texan's looking to avoid that.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Oh and two start.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
A lot of people had them penciled in, a lot
of people had them as like their overwhelming favorite to
win the division. If you had to pick one team
to win a division, you're probably the Texans, so.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Huge spot for them there. But that's why you got
to go out there and play. Or We're not just
playing on a on a white board in Vegas. You
gotta go out there and every single week.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
So looking forward to it another great week of college
and NFL. The Gambler Gang, a few of us will
be up in State College for the Penn State versus
Villanova games.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
That's an exciting road trip for us.

Penn State in person, and get to see our Villanova
Wildcats who are play here on the Gambler each and
