doing tonight tonight, sir good man.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
I can't wait, can't wait to get into it. Seasons
just slowly approaching, before we know it. We were just
talking about it. We'll have that Aaron Lingus game Irish
State Kansas State, and you know, I just can't wait
for some football to sit down, talk about it last week,
just to sit down, do nothing on all on the weekends,
just drink watch them football, hang with the boys. So
(01:00):
I can't wait till that can actually come, you know,
come to life.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Music to our ears McClay, Music to our ears, man,
All right, So I'm gonna pepper you with everything. We're
going NFL. We're going college because it's the name of
the shell. Football is camp. And I'm super excited to
talk to you about college football because I'm starting to
get the juices going. And of course, as we were
looking at some of the bigger games that are going on,
(01:26):
I know last week you guys previewed. Did you guys
do the SEC last week or the week before?
Speaker 4 (01:31):
SEC was last week?
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yep, correct, it was a great list. And talking about
all the big games, I caught one today that is
a big storyline that's happening due to the fact that
the transfer class for this team out of the Big
twelve has delivered a big old oil tycoon down there
in Texas. Red Redder Nation has dumped a lot of
(01:55):
money into the NIL and has been able to well
Texas Tech as a school. Of course, that helped Texas
Tech as a school remain really active in this year's
transfer portal twenty one total commits. Let's see here, four
thirteen four star recruits. They go into ranking them by
(02:17):
total points. We'll leave that off the board, but it's
second according to twenty four twenty four seven Sports, CBS
Sports twenty twenty five Transfer Class rankings. L SU is
in front of them. But Texas Tech is an interesting
name there because in your mind, that conference wide open.
Are you aware of what's taking place down there in Lubbock?
(02:39):
Is it real? Everything that you can give us on that.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Topic there, yeah, I mean the Big twelve is completely
wide open.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
There's I think three teams that are set with their
win total at eight and a half, Texas Tech being
one of those teams, Arizona State and Kansas State as
the other ones.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
But if I were to lean one way on those
three teams to go over, I think i'd lean Arizona
State just based off who they're bringing back. Bringing back
Sam Levitt, bringing back Jordan Tyson, probably the best quarterback
wide receiver duo in the Big twelve, and they I
think they bring back like fifteen sixteen starters from that team.
So that's a team that won the Big Twelve. I
(03:15):
think continuing to roll that. I like that in Arizona State.
But like you said, with Texas Tech, they're putting the
money in man, They're doing what they have to do
to get the guys in their building. But the last
few seasons like I feel like they have been. They've
had the talent, but they've just not produced. They last
season they were six and one in one score games,
but that could easily just flip a.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Dime like that.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
So you know, you go in the opposite direction, you're
looking at a completely opposite record of what they had.
They're gonna have a lot of new faces in that system,
but like you said, there's a couple four stars in there.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
They're gonna have a talent.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Just if they can get that chemistry, get that adjustment,
I think you know, eight and a half is very
doable for this Texas Tech team.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yeah, they were flashing their schedule up on that. We're
not going to go too deep on that, but in
your opinion. Now I do have the twenty twenty four
transfer class ranking, so we can you know, compare contrast.
But in this day and age, is this a benefit
if you can pull more transfers or maybe doesn't work
against them for a team that has to replace a
(04:20):
ton or as constant, you know, the revolving door. You know,
you're not able to build that culture to chemistry, whatever
you can apply to that.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Yeah, it'll be tough. It'll be tough to gain that chemistry.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
But I mean, at the end of the day, if
you can bring in that talent, I mean, I think
in the end of the day, you have the talent,
you can make the adjustment. If you're you know, you
want to be a professional, you want to make that
next step.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
You know you want to buy in.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
If you're that four star recruit, maybe you do have
to take a step back for some other guys.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
You know.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
So if you really want to buy into a system,
I think the transferporter might be you know, in your favor.
But at the same time, like you just said, it's
going to be a revolving door. There's going to be
money thrown out it, tons of different players, tons of
different people, coaches and even I think me and Coyle
talked about it the other day.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
In today's game of college football, there's gonna.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Be a lot more package transfers quarterbacks and offensive coordinators going,
you know, from the Mountain West to an SEC school,
from you know, the Sun Belt to like a big
tent school. There's gonna be packaged deals that we're not
used to seeing. So there's gonna be teams that you know,
have some type of chemistry, even though they're filled with transfers.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Yeah, that's a good point. What do you mean, what
do you make of the fact that we only have
two five star recruits and the rest four stars. Out
of the whole transfer class, only two five stars have transferred,
but the four stars, I mean, you got twelve, thirteen, nine, ten, seven.
Is it the fact that these five stars are just
taking care of paid well?
Speaker 4 (05:46):
And yeah, I think I believe you know, you you're
a five star.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
I think you go into you know, that loyalty part
of you know, the situation if they you know, they're
they're giving you the money and you're producing, you will
you know why I leave. But like you said, with
the four stars, I mean, maybe they're not getting the money.
Maybe they wanted to reach that five star type of
you know, nil money. So that's why they're kind of
auditioning out, going to not maybe lesser schools, but just
(06:10):
more schools where they'll have more of you know, an
option and a chance to you know, get their name
out there.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Last year, Old miss led the way with twenty six commits,
one five stars, seven four stars, once again twenty six
in the transfer portal Oregon was fourteen, Alabama was fifteen
A and M was twenty eight, Florida sixteen, Texas twelve.
So it worked out well for Oregon and Alabama went
(06:40):
through that with the coaching change, that was a whole
different world. Old Miss. They were aggressive down there, came
up short of I'm sure a lot of their goals,
but still good season. What are your thoughts on Old
Miss this year? What's Lane dealing with down there?
Speaker 3 (06:55):
I really liked their quarterback Alston Simmons. He's one of
the more intriguing guys that you know, we've covered, you know,
back you know Jackson Dart the last couple of years
in a system where.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
You know he wasn't really ever gonna play.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
But he's really mature for being I think he's only
twenty years old. I think I saw a report that
he graduated high school two years early and he set
to graduate Old Miss really soon, which is crazy. I
hope I didn't get you know God on that tweet,
But sixteen he's Doogie Houser.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
You have no idea who to how Doogie Howser?
Speaker 3 (07:27):
I believe you just said Dougie Houser because we always
say that's crazy.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
How do you even know? Clip? I got to clip
that and send that to be.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
How do you even know who Doogie Howser is?
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Do you say it all the time?
Speaker 3 (07:41):
And you know that that maniac pat that maniac pack
always bring them up.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Oh I can't. I can't believe I'm going to clet
that sending.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
You never know what the boys man, you never know.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
But speaking on this Ole Miss quarterback, I mean he
originally was committed to Florida, then he switched over to
Ole Miss and he played baseball too.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
He was a relief pitcher for the Rebels.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
I think last year, two year or twenty twenty three
he was so you know, nothing to do with football,
but they just so the athlete, you know, the willingness
to be a due pool sport athlete. But with Lane Kiffin,
I think he's been raving about this Olson Simmons guy.
But if he can get guys around him, I mean
we saw last year with like you said, with all
those transfers, all those commits, and they still ended up
(08:24):
losing three games, three games that they should have won.
So you know, I think with the maturity of Simmons
and the combination of Kiffen, if if they can get
something going, they can get that, you know, maturity and
leadership combined. I think they could you know, make a
run at this SEC. But the SEC is going to
be just a gauntlet.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Yeah, as it often as fifteen to one for Old
Miss to win A and M's he tied there with
them as well at fifteen to one LSU eight hundred
Alabama plus three ninety Georgia plus three forty and tex
is favored to win the SEC of course, behind the
big arm of Arch Manning and legs really excited to
(09:02):
see what he can do down there. What does Texas'
schedule look like?
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Texas, let's see, I think they well they started eight
yeah or no dark high State sorry, start out of
High State in the shoe, right, That's gonna be tough.
If you know, Arch wants to really you know, make
that name, make that step obviously, you know the expectations are.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
There in the shoe.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Let me look that up.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
I believe it is in the shoe. Either way, I
think you win that game.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
You make that especially going to the shoe, right, you
make that name for yourself, especially with you know, even
though they're the national title, you know, supposedly winners. Right now,
you know the SEC winners.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Stuff to prove.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
So you know, I think if he can go out
there week one, that you know, that's gonna be big
for him.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Second ever trip to the Shoe. They won twenty five
to twenty two in two thousand and five. Shoutout feel Steel. Yeah,
I'm really excited to see what Arch is gonna do.
It's not gonna be any surprise. This kid is super talented.
Just open it up, man, allow him to make plays
with his legs, because I think that's what would surprise
(10:16):
a lot of people if they weren't really paying attention
and haven't really seen him evolve over the years. But
last year he was, he was, he was dominant out there.
I can't wait to see him in that game against
Ohio State on August thirtieth. I'm sure we got a
line on that already where he sat in that line.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Yeah, Oh, that's probably gonna be tight.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
I would say within one and a half, maybe two
and a half Ohio State if it's in the show.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Three Ohio State, Okay, fifteen and a half is our total? Sure.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
I mean that tax of defense is gonna be really
good too, So that's gonna be that's gonna be a
I can't wait.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
I just can't wait. I can't wait to see it
on the screen.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
It's Saturday, and if my time's right, it's Saturday at noon.
You know, a big newon kickoff on that one.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
All right, we'll take it. We'll take just two top teams,
are there? One? One and two?
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Right?
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Gotta be one and two? Tas enough one, that's a
good question.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
I don't know what the rankings are right now. Football
is king here. Let's see here currently right now going
into this season. Hopefully I got this right here?
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Yeah, two the top three.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Al right, CBS Sports, gotty, this is all last year's
I don't have preseason rankings right now either way.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
Two of the top five teams going at it week
one and even all right, Oh.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
We got Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas, Penn State.
That's our top five right here, according to ap AP
top twenty five Ohiose State since one, Notre Dame two, Oregon, three,
Texas floor, Penn State, five, Georgia six, Arizona State, which
we talked about, seven, Boise State in their eight boys
stay gonna be that good again. They open up on
(12:13):
the road at South Florida.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Non I don't. I don't think they can. I think
they're due for a little regression. They I mean, you're
gonna lose one of the most productive college football players,
and you know in my lifetime, I mean he losing him,
that's gonna be tough. So I think, you know, replicating
a season like that, it's gonna be tough.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Genti's the guy that I want in fantasy for NFL.
We're gonna get to the NFL A second Boise a
nine and a half road point road favorite on Thursday,
August twenty eighth at South Florida. If that game is
being played in South Florida, nine and a half point favorite,
sixty three and a half is are total. It's a
five thirty kickoff on Thursday, August twenty eighth. Football is kiing.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Man, this is just reading these lines out man, get
me going, man, all right, McClay.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
As far as teams that are on that list with
the transfers, I wanted to stay with that. You give
me a quick little thought or two on these teams
right here, and let me know your thoughts heading into
week one and of course well weeks zero if they're playing,
and whether or not this team has anything that we
should be looking forward to the future. LSU is at
(13:27):
the top your thoughts on l SU this year.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
I really like this LSU team. If it's not going
to be Texas, I think it might be LSU. With
who they're returning, obviously Garrett nel Smyer. Obviously the defense
is going to be like that. They bringing two great
receivers for Smyer to throw two. But it really scares me.
Is just Brian Kelly just having him run the show
really scares me being that game manager. Just he seems
(13:58):
to lose games that he shouldn't. And then obviously with
a talented roster like this, I think this is probably
the most talented roster at LSU.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
I think it's a shot.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Currently right now I'm looking plus one twenty five to
make the playoffs. I already took a stab at that
for LSU. But you know, their schedule isn't easy. They
I have home games against Florida, South Carolina AM that's good,
but they open up one against Clemson, have to travel
to Ole Miss, Alabama and Oklahoma. Talked about it the
other day, not saying Week one is a must win,
(14:30):
but you win that. The outlook for the rest of
the season just looks that much better with your schedule
and being in you know, the sec guallet that they're in.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
So I think it's worth a stab. I think they're
gonna be in the conversation to make.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
The playoffs, So taking a stab at him at plus money,
I think it's worth it.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
All right. What about Miami for your exation?
Speaker 4 (14:49):
Miami? Very low on Miami.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
Not a big fan of Carson Beck, never really was
a fan of Carson Beck. Not a fan of Crystal
Ball either. I think they're kind of, you know, going
to be frauds in the ACC in a weak ACC.
If there's a team in the a CC that I
would go after other than Clemson, which I think Clemson's
kind of the clear what favorite in the ACC? I
think I'm looking at like Louisville or Georgia Tech. I like,
(15:14):
you know, teams like that. I like Isaac Brown from Louisville.
I think he can be one of the most productive,
explosive running backs in the country.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
I like Haines King from Georgia Tech.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
He could be one of the best quarterbacks in the
ACC in the this upscoping season. So I think got
teams more down the board in the ACC. If you
want to take a stab at it, I would go
Georgia Tech or Louisville.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
What's what's the latest with Florida State thirty to one
to win the ACC Again, we're talking about one of
the premier programs. When they get it right, watch out.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
Yeah, if they can.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
I mean they obviously they know the season last year,
They're not have it like that again. I think you
you know, additioned by subtraction pretty much with most of
that offense, and you know, roster overall.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
So I think they'll definitely have a better year.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
I think we're looking at like six seven wins maybe
definitely a big improvement from last year with their roster.
So I think, you know, we're looking at a step
up from Florida State. I don't think they're really be
in contention really in the end, but I think definitely.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
A step in the right direction from what it was
last year.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Norvel can't have another bad season, Kenny, he can't.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
He'll he'll be to see.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Warm if he gets if he has a season like
he did this year.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
Oh yeah, Oh, especially if it starts out pretty slow too,
that set it. He'll get warmer. And warmer by the week.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
All right, staying in college football again, looking at this
list right here, let's talk about Oregon and your expectations
for the Docks. A great program up there, and wouldn't
shock me if they compete for another national championship.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Yeah, not at all. There.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
I think one of four, maybe five teams set at
ten and a half with the wins. I think actually
three teams in the Big Ten, Oregon, Penn State, and
Ohio State all set at ten and a half, which
is pretty crazy. But you know, Dan Lanning continuing to
work in the offseason. He I think he's had a
top ten recruiting class in the past three seasons, which is,
you know, obviously good. They're going to bring in a
(17:06):
lot of talent and like you said already, they're going
to be contending for a national title. They replaced Dylan
Gabriel Dante Moore, who's been in the system this play
of season, can learn that landing offense. They lost a
couple guys to the draft, some portal guys, obviously Josh
Connerley on the offensive line, but they bring in a
couple of guys that can really protect Dante Moore. They
(17:27):
bring in another weapon in Dequarian Moore, who's going to
be a great five star recruit. Evan Stewart another weapon
on the outside, but he's injured. I think if he
can get healthy, he's got potential to be one of
the better receivers.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
In the country. But you know, schedule isn't the hardest either.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
They do have to go to Penn State, which is
going to be their hardest artist test. Don't have to
play Michigan or Ohio State. So I think even if
you scratch in a loss at Penn State, I think
they can still go over that ten and.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
A half line.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Excellent. All right, We're all over the place, and it's
just based off of these talking or these conversation starters
that I'm looking at right here from this transfer class,
and you just start to apply it to what took
place last year and what needs to happen for this
upcoming season. But then you run into the team like
North Carolina that goes out and gets Bill Belichick and like,
what in the hell is going on? And I'm looking
(18:20):
they had forty one commits in this transfer portal that
is a complete overhaul by Bill Belichick and his squad.
Dow there you would see. I know they lost Hampton.
I have no idea who their quarterback was last year
as he back, What does Bill Belichick have to work
with in year one?
Speaker 4 (18:37):
I think they.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Brought in Max Johnson. I hope I'm not mistaken on that,
but I think he is one of the Yeah, I
feel like he's been in college football forever. But yeah,
you lose Hampton, you bring in the you lose Mac Brown,
who was what seventy four, seventy five?
Speaker 4 (18:52):
You bring in Bill Belichick.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
He's seventy two, So you really went really young there, going,
you know, revamp that system. But I don't really like
I don't know where which way I would lean with
this UNC team. I'm not sure if they're going to
buy into this Belichick stuff with what else is going
on with his husb or with his wife. I'm not
really sure. But I'm torn between whether I want to
(19:16):
hammer or love this UNC team or just absolutely fade
them all year.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Max Johnson is on that team. Didn't he get hurt
last year when he was trying to throw the ball.
I think he got hurt.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Yeah, that was a and M I think.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Right, And then that's right, you're right, you're right, good.
Car Geo Lopez and Bryce Baker are the other three
two quarterbacks on Carolina's depth chart.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
I really have no way which way I would want
to lean with that UNC team with all that's going
on down there.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Interesting, all right, Well, definitely a storyline that we'll be
paying attention to to see what Bill can do in
year one, whether or not he'll even be back for
another year, because I know that there's some odds floating
around on that one that won't be the case. All right, So,
as far as your win totals, what's your favorite win
total heading into college football?
Speaker 4 (20:08):
As of now?
Speaker 3 (20:09):
I think we me and Beef have been talking about
a lot in the Big twelve. I we're really high
on this Utah team, Devin dan Pierre coming over from
New Mexico and with coming over with offensive coordinator, like
we talked about earlier, bringing over your offensive coordinator and bringing.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Over your quarterback.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
So I think the teams are going to be a
lot bringing that package in. I think seven and a
half is very doable, especially with the schedule, with the
tough defense that they have. They probably have one of
the best offensive lines in the country, probably had one
of the top tackles coming off the board in the
upcoming draft in spetzer Fino, So I think, you know,
they didn't really lose that much in the portal and
(20:48):
last year they had a quarterback that was forty five
years old and Cam Rising, So I think this is
a completely revamped Utah team. So for me, I think
you lean the over and not to mention, they bring
also bring in two weapons from New Mexico with them
in running back in Nccory Rodgers and wide receiver in
Ryan Davis. So there's a lot of familiarity in this
(21:08):
Utah team, even though some of the players weren't on
this Huotau team.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
So I really like the seven and a half.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
With them, all right. Is there a team that's sneaky
for you out there that people aren't talking about, Whether
it's maybe a team that the expectations aren't there and
possibly could be a coach on a hot sea like Florida.
Is there a team that's sneaky for you, that is
under the radar right now maybe could do some big
things this year.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
I did take Florida six and a half when it
was set six and a half. It's now at seven
and a half and with that schedule, I'm really.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Not too confident in the seven and a half. Six
and a half is going to be pretty tough too.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
But one of the better rosters that Napier has had
at Florida, so I think with Lagway, they surrounded him
with a lot of guys.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
I think Lagway also could be hot in Heisman contention.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
But the thing is, I could see him putting up
Heisman numbers and them still going under the win total,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Like, I think he could produce.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
He can put up the numbers, score them touchdowns, points,
whatever they need. But I still think with the head
coach and you know that Florida team, they always find
ways to lose. So I think even if they he
does have a Heisman caliber season, under six and a half,
under seven and a half isn't out of the cards there.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
But also we touched on it in the ACC.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
I like Georgia Tech over seven and a half too,
think their schedule is pretty easy, love their quarterback, love
their defense too. I think their explosive team are gonna
be fun to watch. So I think Georgia Tech over
seven and a half in that ACC is something something
to look at.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Who are you gonna have in your national championship game
here on July eighth.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
I really like Clemson. I really like Clemson. I think
they're very experienced. I like their their defense or defense
is going to be one of the best in the country.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
So I think they're gonna be in it.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
And I hate to say this because I really don't
like them and I'm never too confident in them, But
I think Penn State. I think Penn State could think
if they can get over the hump, I really do.
I think Drew Aller, he's been there for so long.
If this isn't the year, then there's not going.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
To be a year. But well, yeah, another guy.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
You're out right, with.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
The talent that they have, they're not going to have
another you know, talented team like this with the transfers
they bring in, put in a lot of weapons. But also,
like you touched on it earlier, I think I would
not be surprised if Oregon does it again, goes back
there with the schedule that they have to so Oregon,
Penn State, and Clemson, I think I'm looking.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
At right there, all right, I can't wait. College football
right around the corner. Let's get it. Football is King
hanging out with Nick McLay here on the Gambler, Ryan
Beef coiled down the beach. What you got on my
East Carolina pirates?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Oh you see you Actually Iowa State got a wide
receiver transfer from there, so hopefully hopefully they breed some whist.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
East Carolina opens up at NC State. That's a killer game.
That's in August twenty eight, that's on Thursday as well.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Okay, all right, yeah, that's any tough one.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Then they have b YU on week four, so they
go in C State Campbell Coastal, Carolina Coastal could probably
it's at Coastal, so that's probably gonna be a loss.
Then they got b y U Army Tulane, Tulsa Temple
at Temple. See you coming up the way on November first.
All right, check that one out, Charlotte. You want to
go see that game as well?
Speaker 4 (24:22):
You know Oklahoma is coming to Temple.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
What about that that's coming to?
Speaker 2 (24:30):
What year?
Speaker 1 (24:31):
We got?
Speaker 2 (24:31):
What week we have on that one?
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Three? I think?
Speaker 2 (24:35):
Really?
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Oh man, all right, definitely get down there to that one.
Check out Boomer Sumer in South Philly.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
See Geo teer down there. Let's do it I'll talk
about another quarterback offensive coordinator.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Uh package deal there in Oklahoma, Dormetier and Washington States
coach came.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Over Final One College Football. We didn't get a d
on conversation going why is that?
Speaker 4 (25:05):
You're right honestly with I didn't even think about it.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
But the talks about, you know, the most talked about
team that's two years where was Colorado? No more team
has probably had the more national recognition than Colorado in
the most recent season. But now you don't have shitt Or,
you don't have Travis Hunter, got a ton of question
marks all around the board. You're all of your production
last year was from pretty much of those two guys,
(25:28):
even Jimmy Horn and Jimmy Horn's going. So I think
the development of, you know, the entire team kind of
took back seat to the development of Shador and Hunter
and them. So I think this team's due for a regression.
They do have a good, you know, class coming in
Julian Lewis. Don't know how that's gonna work out at quarterback,
but I think they're total six and a half. If
(25:49):
I were, you know, gun to my head, I think
I goes idlean under on that.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
They opened up with Georgia Tech.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
Yeah, I'm high on Georgia Tech. So I think Georgia
Tech wins that one.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
All right, Delaware while there are they on the road, Wait,
what did what? You know? That's it's home, that's home.
I'm like, wait, Dion's going to Delaware. Wait wait a minute,
Like we're going to the Link twice Oklahoma and we're
gonna SEECU Temple and we're going to Delaware to see
them take on Dion in Colorado. No, that game is
up there in Colorado. So that's in September sixth. Then
(26:21):
they go on the road to Houston, Wyoming BYU TCU,
Iowa State, Utah, Arizona State or Arizona excuse me, West Virginia,
Arizona State than Kansas State. So yeah, you know, but
you're not expecting much from them this year.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Now, I'm not expecting much from Colorado.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
And even like with this Big twelve, I think you
could literally just pick the standings like ran out of
hat at the beginning of the season and it could
end up being like that with how wide open this
Big twelve is.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
All right, great stuff, Nick McClay, great job across the
board and all things college football. You're not done yet
because we got to get on over to the NFL.
I got some other stuff, so we got to discuss there.
You can find Nick McClay on socials at Nick McLay
twenty two. Nick McLay twenty two. All right, Nick, I
want to know your thoughts on the NFL Top one hundred.
(27:10):
I said today that Saquon Barkley should be the number
one player in the NFL listed. If I'm doing a list,
he's my number one player. Now. I don't think it's
the proper questions. Is that out of line? Because look,
if you want to give it to Mahomes, I'm not
going to deny that. You want to say Josh Allen
is better player or more valuable or whatever are you
going to want to make again, you know, what one
(27:33):
person likes doesn't mean everybody's got to like it. That's fine.
But for my money, Saquon Barkley is the best player
in the NFL. What do you say to that?
Speaker 3 (27:41):
Yeah, I wouldn't say you're crazy at all. I think
he's got to be top three in my opinion. I
think arguments with Lamar and Josh Allen up there too.
But like you said, the season that he just put
up should have broken the record, honestly, should have broken
the record. And you know the value that he has
to our team, that Eagles team there without him, we
(28:02):
wouldn't have gone, you know, even with the talent that
we had, with the with the offensive line that we have,
with receivers, we have, the defense we have.
Speaker 4 (28:09):
You know, he he kind of you know, led that show.
So with him, you put him at one, wouldn't blink
and eye at that.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
But I think with you know, Lamar and Josh Allen,
with the production they've put up the last few seasons,
obviously they get to the playoffs, they can't really do anything,
so you know, whatever happens happens. But with those two talent,
I think, you know, you put them three up top.
I wouldn't blink an eye at either three.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
All right, Yeah, because that's what the big storyline is
right now is running backs. ESPN came out with an
article where they ranked all the running backs, had sae
quon number one, but for for the top one hundred
that hasn't been revealed yet. Last I looked, I think
they were in the eighties, you know, at the end
of the day, he's going to be a top five
player on that list. I know that they're going to
(28:55):
put some sort of quarterback spin on it, but I
think it's wide open right now, and you should get
You should give it to Barkley due to the season
that he had last year, which was caps by winning
a Super Bowl, and for my money, that should probably
leak mean a little bit more than what Mahomes did
all last season. Mahomes is incredible, no no offense butts about.
He's the best quarterback in the game. But Saquill Barkley
(29:16):
best player in the game. Who's the best defensive player
in the game.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
That's a good one. Let's I got a defensive like
we're looking last I mean, Pat thirteen pretty much locked
up that quarterback spot.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
T J.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Watt, Miles Garrett, probably Miles Garrett.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
I mean the dominance that he put up obviously, you know,
you look at the contract he just sign He's getting
paid like the best. So you know you asked me,
I probably go, Miles Garrett. Gun to my head, won
one for defensive right there.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
TJ. Watt there too. I mean, you know he's still
got to get paid.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
He's probably gonna get paid similar to Miles Garrett two,
but like just pure dominance, game wrecking, like can flip
a game on his head.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
I think i'd go Miles Garrett.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
Do you have any futures in the NFL? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (30:02):
Let me I got so ry here, Yeah I did.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
I have these Saints to have the fewest wins at
plus five hundred. I think they're they're two wins, Max Hete,
I don't like anything about that team. I don't Tyler Shuckett,
doesn't you know it moved the needle for me. Alvin
Kamaro is getting up there, the defenses and all that.
Chris o'lave can really not stay on the field. To
love him as a talent, tough to stay on the field.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
He gets hurt a lot. I did do.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
This is more a bias pick for me. Is a
Mecca Agbuca Offensive Rookie of the Year. I've been saying
that he's going to be the most productive wide receiver
of this group.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
So how do you know?
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Obviously take that really got him at thirty five to one.
I took that April twenty fifth, took that.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Then.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
I also have R J. Harvey Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I think I like, I really like what Denver did
in the draft with Pat Bryant, with R. J. Harvey,
I really and Jada Barron on the defense side, so
really like that defensive draft player that.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
That offensive Rookie of the Year. It's gonna be tough
if stays held.
Speaker 4 (31:07):
That's what like. It's it's gonna be genty.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
But I mean if you want to take some flyers
with some value, I mean, gents could win Offensive Player
of the Year, let alone Offensive Rookie the Year, and
he's going to be the Rams to win the NFC West,
to which I think that's one of my favorite ones.
From a divisional standpoint, I think Rams are head and
shoulders above the Niners, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
The Cardinals Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
I think what they did in the off season is
just just gonna it's just better than what everyone else
in their division did in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Right now, you can get the MVP and Super Bowl
winner at sixty to one for the Eagles and JAILN Hurts. Oh,
I definitely got to check at the Yeah, you gotta
play that, you have to play. That's a nice number. Yeah,
come on, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
Quarterback Award right there. You know at MVP, go out there,
put some numbers up like you did last year.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Nick McClay, fantastic job. I had a pleasure, I mean
a ton of fun pleasure sitting down with you here man,
talking all things football again.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Everybody were warmed up, hot and bothered. Football season right
around the corner for all of us. Eagles open up
shop on the seventh of August, first preseason game and
then they open up the season versus the Boys, and
man's it's all here, college football, everything.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
So I am going to take a nice little vacation,
startying on Thursday. Be back on Monday, live, brand new
Daily Ticket and front and center. We'll be talking all
things college football and football from that point on. It
is time to go. So got my Phil Steel magazine
printed out, all my over and unders for all things
(32:52):
college football. That's what I plan on doing this weekend.
Worry about the NFL. I got a little bit better
hold a grasp of what's going on in the NFL.
It's just so much movement in college football.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
But at the end of the day, you know who's
going to be their top team. So look forward to
covering all Nick, you're the best once again. You can
find them all Thinks Socials, Nick McLay twenty two. If
you're miss anything at FOXPHL, gambler dot.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
Com spreads totals and all the prop that's in the tweens.
It's the Gambler
