Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gordon Bird herewith Beyond the News. Hillsborough County Government is
hosting a community workshop Wednesday evening the eighth to get
input on its post disaster redevelopment plan. And of course
this is happening coincidentally almost one year to the day
since Hurricane Milton struck and moved through the Tampa Bay area. C. K.
(00:20):
Moor is the Section Chief for Planning of Hillsborough County
Emergency Management and he joins us on Beyond the News
to talk about the workshop.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
A good day to you, sir Tammy, you Goahden, thanks
for having me.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Well, first of all, why is the county holding this workshop?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, this is going to be our second workshop for
our development of the post disaster redevelopment plan, and this
is going to give us the opportunity to continue to
receive community input and feedback as we developed this plan
and make it more resilient for future storms.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
So a big part of the reason behind this is
not just to the next time. We hope there's not
the next time, but there probably will be given the odds.
Is not just to build back infrastructure and businesses and neighborhoods,
but to build them back better.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yes, sir, So this will give us an opportunity to
not only expedite recovery and kind of return to normal
as soon as possible, but it also provides us an
opportunity to strengthen infrastructure, make it more resilient, and make
it more sustainable. Post on.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Now, if you show up at this meeting and you
want to participate, tell us about the format and how
you're taking input from the community.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
So unlike the first format was a more open form
where people could come in and fill out comment cards,
talk to the folks that were in the room from
Emergency management and from the county. But this way we're
having wants to say, this time, we're having folks from
the county who sit in different departments like Development Services
that talk about to talk about things that they do
(01:58):
not only in so port of redevelopment, but also how
it helps them out during when they're trying to build
back their own their own residences. Excuse me, but the
other big part is that this is going to be
unique where we're going to have this as a virtual
and in person type of format. So we're going to
have it at the Miller Park and Life Center or
(02:21):
at six zero six one zero five East Sly Avenue
in Tampa. And then we're going to also provide a
link that that's also on our social media and some
QR codes around the county that is going to allow
you to access it virtually as well.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
And that's going on six thirty two, seven thirty pm Wednesday.
So how then would you access this if you're not
able to attend in person?
Speaker 2 (02:45):
So you'll be able to, like I said, go into
our social media feeds and be able to access it
through via QR code or also we have a link
on the different social media sites and then once you
do that, you'll be able to belong you meet the
requirements on your system. You can can listen in and
then also provide questions in a chat format.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
And once again that is six thirty two, seven thirty
pm and Wednesday, October the eighth and the in person
part is at the Miller Park and Life Center at
sixty one oh five East Sly Avenue in Tampa. Sixty
one oh five East Sly Avenue. C K More, Section
Chief for Planning of Hillsborough County Emergency Management. Thank you
(03:27):
