What a one point five by theFN Madison's classic rock two for Tuesday with
White Snake doing the big hair thingas we welcome in johnsh Gollwit's owner of
Beyond Beyond the Studs, owner ofLegacy Exteriors, on a Beyond the Studs
Tuesday, Josh, how are you. I'm doing good. I'm I can't
rock the big hair thing anymore. That look has gone out the window.
(00:22):
So back in the day you hadsome big hair. Uh no, but
I had to go capability of growinghere, Oh I gots o. Well,
you wear a hat every day,so I don't know. I don't
have that capability anymore. All right, So today I kind of want to
talk about like planning purposes, rightbecause we sit here on December the fifth,
or winding down twenty twenty three, looking ahead to twenty twenty four.
(00:42):
People are like me, I'm alreadytired of that white stuff that I can
see out the window on the ground. I want to think about warmer things.
And one of the beauties of whatyou guys do over at Legacy Exteriors
is the three season, four seasonsunrooms, those kinds of things. So
let's kind of lay that out atwhat that line of legacy the exteriors looks
like, or division of legacy exteriors. Yeah, so it's a it's a
(01:04):
great division that we've added. You'rein Wisconsin, we it's it's a blessing
and a curse. You know, the white stuff you talk about outside that
we go through all the seasons,so we experience every kind of weather,
you know, from rain, snow, you know, sunny days, whatever,
(01:26):
but all the all the good stuffand bad stuff that comes with that.
So the nice thing about a fourseason sunroom is that we can experience,
you know, bring the outdoors in, you know, twelve months a
year and enjoy that space that feelslike you're outdoors. It's it's a great
room. Most people will tell youthat it's their favorite room in the house
(01:49):
once they have it, you know, installed. But the life rooms that's
a a different kind of outdoor spacein itself. It's it's more of a
picture a screened porch, but thewalls can actually retract in themselves and open
up completely, and the ceiling canbe like a pergola style. But then
(02:15):
when it senses rain or inclement weather, it'll it'll actually go and be motorized
to a solid roof. So yeah, it's a there's so many different options
and styles and designs. When itcomes to the four season line, we're
extremely excited about it. We're gladto be a part of it because four
(02:36):
Seasons has been around for like fiftyyears. So I think, I truly
think they're at the you know, forefront, forefront, and they're always inventing
like this life room for instance, and this pergola system that since is the
rain, I mean, that's allnew products. So they're constantly innovating the
outdoor space. Yeah. Well, and I think in terms two of like,
(02:59):
as we move throughout the winter herein Wisconsin, we can have some
days where we get a lot ofsunshine, but you don't want to be
outside because right, so good point. But with a sunroom, you could
enjoy the sun all of that andwhat's all of that kind of makes you
feel inside. I'm somebody who lovesthe sun, Josh. When I don't
get enough sun, I kind ofget a little wonky, a little weird
off kilter, if you will.So imagine having a sunroom and it's twenty
(03:21):
degrees outside, but it's gonna feelamazing inside that room, right, and
you just get to see, youknow, if you see all of outdoors,
so it is a different room, and it's it's you know, bringing
the outdoor in, but keeping thebugs away, keeping the elements away.
It's it's it's a room that wecan enjoy year round, and I truly
(03:46):
think it would become your favorite roomin the house. Talking with Josh Gawitz,
owner of Legacy Exteriors and a Beyondthe Studs Tuesday, talking all things
four seasons that Legacy Exteriors carries, and I also think to myself, Josh,
these things have to take a littlebit of time, whether it's planning,
whether it's permits, whether it's whateverit is products. Yeah, so
(04:06):
right now it is a good timeto start exploring that if you want to
have it ready for spring summer.Yeah. I would say if you're in
the market or at least thinking aboutexpanding your home, you know, the
square footage of your home, whetherit's adding a you know, a screened
in porch or a full on edition, I think this is a great option
(04:27):
and should be looked at. Butyou're right from the design itself, because
we've you've talked to a man inthe past about the design itself. It
is extremely neat process where she candrop that three D image of what you
designed. It's really cool. Yeah, through her phone. Through her phone
(04:47):
she can project that out on you. I don't know, you're like what
it is. It's really neat. And there's also goggles you can kind of
put on and see what that insideof that room would look like on your
actual home, you know, throughthe virtual reality. So it's a neat
process. And then once once youdo that, you do have the zoning
(05:09):
and the permitting for your local municipalities, so it does take time. Yeah,
and then obviously the materials and theshipping and the coordinating it with other
projects. It's it's not something thatgoes right away. So if it's something
that you want for next year orwant to explore, I would say now
(05:30):
is the time to get that processstarted and and that way it gets finalized
and you enjoy it for next year. Yeah. And when we talk about,
you know, adding square footage toa home, and that's what these
rooms really do. They are.In addition talk about the seamless transition you
and your team at Legacy Steiers canmake. So it kind of is tied
into the home and people wouldn't evenknow this is an addition. It looks
(05:51):
like it was always part of thehome. Absolutely. So the great thing
about there are you know, say, other additions are out there, right,
But the beauty about when we doit through us. The four seasons,
I mean, that's a great productin itself, but we're an exterior
(06:13):
company, so we do sighting, windows, roofing, so all of that
we can easily tie in and nothave to hire outside people. Yeah right,
we can do it all in house, So that part is great.
There's no there's no middleman or gobetweens. But yeah, I mean typical
(06:33):
typically if you got a sliding glasspatiodor or a deck or something, so
typically we are replacing that area withthe new room. If you don't have
an area like that, we canobviously create one. Yeah. So also
when you talk about these different things, and again we're talking with Josh Gottwitz
(06:55):
from Legacy Exteriors It Beyond the StudsTuesday here all about four seasons in addition
to your home, three season rooms, sunrooms, all of those kind of
things as well. But Amanda hasbrought this up in the past. But
the different so the glass that's apart of these windows. It's got a
certain kind of product on it,which essentially means when it rains, it
cleans the windows. Yeah, it'sessentially like a state cleaning glass. So
(07:18):
if you look at glass under amicroscope, it'll almost look like mountains,
like a mountain range with peaks andvalleys. So essentially what it is is
that it fills in all the valleys. So when you see the dirtiness or
the streaking or whatever, that's thewater or dirt getting in those valleys and
(07:40):
then we're seeing it, so we'rejust filling that in and that way it's
you know, gets off with nostreaking or residue, similar to like people
are familiar with RAINEXE for your car. It's it's a similar kind of scenario
there. Yeah. Well, andto me, I think that is so
(08:01):
crucial too, because there's so manywindows are part of and sometimes the roofs
are windows too. Yeah, soyou definitely can't up there. Yeah.
Yeah, you don't want to spendall your time cleaning your sunroom glass that
you just spotted instead of just enjoyingthe room itself. So kind of walk
us through that process too. Whenyou first want to explore, you know,
(08:22):
doing a four seasons project with LegacyExperiors, you call you guys at
two, two, one, threethousand, and then Amanda or one of
the other sales reps come out andthey kind of walk it through that process.
Yeah, so it's similar to likeanything we do as far as the
process goes. So you're gonna callthe office, you're gonna get scheduled up
with an appointment, and if it'ssunroom specific, Amanda will come out and
(08:48):
you kind of go through the interviewprocess. What are you trying to accomplish?
What are you hoping to get outof the project. There's gonna be
a lot of different questions so wecan get a better extending on what that
home or specifically is trying to accomplishfor their project. And then mana will
if it is a room, thenman it will go through the design process,
(09:09):
which is the technology for it isoutstanding. I mean you can really
get a feel for exactly what theroom is going to look like, what
it's going to feel like on theinside because you're going to be actually in
it in the virtual reality reality setting. So an extremely neat process as far
(09:30):
as that goes, and then itgoes from there is if you if it's
something that you want to be apart of and want to be put on
the schedule, then we go toyour local municipality and apply for you know,
your the building permit, and thenwe have to do a zoning permit.
So typically they got to go throughboth and then once that happens,
(09:54):
then obviously we order everything up.Yeah, and then schedule up the process
there. I mean obviously every town, every village, whatever it may be
where someone lives is different. Butis there a general timeline on how long
these kind of projects take from thatfirst initial meeting to when people get to
enjoy it. Oh, that's agreat question. So I would say that
(10:16):
it's going to depend on what isgoing to be performed there. Okay,
So for instance, there's we've beendoing a lot of these retro fit So
say you have an already built screenedin porch, but you don't feel like
you get to enjoy it enough,so we can actually purchase we actually put
(10:41):
in these four season wall section onliesinto the are you're already built screen in
porch. Okay, so it becomesa four season room, but there's less
building. I would say that hasto be involved. Yeah, so we've
been doing quite a few of those. Those are going to take a day
(11:01):
two days of actually install, that'sit. Yes, So we we try
to and and obviously with other roomswe got inspections, and you have a
lot of different and various inspections throughoutthe course of the process. So on
an inspection day, maybe we're retrofittinga walls the only room. So it's
(11:22):
really I am very you know, thankful for our scheduler and our project manager
for Sun Rooms because that's his job, is scheduling all this and making sure
the guys are going somewhere and gettingand getting the jobs done. So it
really is going to depend on whatthat homeowner is getting for their home and
(11:48):
what type of product. How bigis it two stories, is it one
story. There's a lot of differentoptions that go into play as far as
the room itself, ceialing, treatments, and wall treatment, flooring. Yeah,
so yeah, it all depends. But once they do decide on something,
(12:09):
the team will give them an estimatedtime not only for when their project
might start, but how long theirproject will take. Talking with Josh Gallwitz,
owner of Legacy Extereiers, Beyond theStuds Tuesdays here on ib A FM,
talking about in addition three season, four season Life from Sunrooms, whatever
it may be. With the fourseasons, lines of products that Legacy Exteriors
(12:30):
can install on your home. SoI've got friends out there, Josh,
and this is something I'm trying totalk my wife into. Let's not do
Christmas gifts for each other every year. Let's do something like this on our
home. So there's people out therethat are listening right now. This may
be something that them, their significantother, whatever it may be, may
want to tackle. It's the giftthat keeps on giving. It does all
(12:52):
year round. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's it's gonna obviously increase your
square footage, increased home vound, pretty value, so and and and increase
good times. Yes, it's agood time. I just imagine Christmas Day
opening gifts out there under a treewith a whole family. Yeah, you
know you can maybe it's snowing outsideso you can have great views that you
(13:15):
snow coming down, but get yourwarm inside. It's awesome. So let's
also kind of talk about financing rightbecause right now, budgets they're a real
thing. People are kind of youknow, allotting their money's expensive. Eate
money is expensive, Yes, itis. So let's talk about the great
financing options you guys have overt legacyexteriors. Yeah, so we are offering
the most popular one right now andyou might be familiar with it. Yes,
(13:39):
eighteen months no interest, Yes,it's very good and uh but we
can we we have plans that goall the way out to eleven years.
So depending on what you want todo, what kind of payment, monthly
payment option you want to be around, Yep, we have something for you.
But the zero percent, I mean, that's kind of unheard of right
(14:01):
now. It is, it is. I was going to say, you
guys are not keeping up with interestrates as people are seeing for home loans
right now, home equity, linesof credit, car loans, whatever it
may be. What is a homehome? Is it seven? I think
I had well, I had afriend that about a house three months ago
and they got proved at eight eighteight, so that I got in at
(14:22):
the tail end, thankfully, SoI got slow threes. Yeah, before
everything skyrocket is we know the economykind of is what it is right now.
Yeah, So I'm not a mathematician, but zero's pretty good. It
is pretty good. It is.You know, I wish that I would
have looked up because I can't rememberwhich which option I went with. But
even when you want to kind ofextend that out to you know, as
(14:43):
you mentioned the max of what's elevenyears, the interest rates that are attached
to those are still way below marketvalue any other one you're going to get.
You're absolutely correct. So the cheaperthe money is the better. So
if it's a project you were kindof already thinking about for next year,
(15:03):
I mean, why not take advantageof the zero percent and put that money
to work for you somewhere else. But it's a great option to maybe maybe
you don't have a bunch of moneysitting in the bank, but you want
to expand the house, want toget in an addition, want to or
maybe you do, But why nottake free money if somebody's going to give
(15:24):
it to you, actually give meeighteen months for zero percent interest. That's
what I'm saying. I mean,it's a it's kind of a no brainer,
it is. I mean, it'ssomething we've offered for a very long
time, but right now it justmakes too much sense. Yeah, and
I could speak to this directly too. That process of going through everything to
get approved for these it was like, I think, five clicks in my
(15:46):
mouth, a couple of questions,I answered boom, and I was approved
like that. Yeah. And Idon't think this was available when you got
a roough when you did from us. But now you can do all that
stuff right our website. No itwasn't. So yeah, you can go
right to our website and click uh. I think there's a financing tab but
(16:10):
yeah, it's through Paser and thenfill out all that information from your home
and never have to worry about comingin or any of that nonsense. So
it's it's very hassle free. Yeah, and I mean, your guys website
is a great resource for everybody tonot only learn more about financing, but
all of the exterior projects you cando on people's homes. It's legacy Dash
(16:30):
Exteriors dot com. Josh. Ialso invite people to click on that testimonials
button. Read through those see whatothers who have had work done by you,
what they say. I know,I gotta get you on there.
I love to do it. Yeah, I'll shoot, well, we need
a video of it you want,Yeah, I'm on radio man, I
gotta face the radio. Anyways, there's a lot of great information today,
(16:52):
I really, man, I don'tknow. I may want to explore one
of those four seasons rooms at somepoint. Yeah, because you've seen my
house too in those views that Iknow at the back and when you were
mentioning in that the opening Christmas presence, that's the first thing I thought of
on your house was, yeah, you know out the back and you know,
almost feeling like you're the only oneout there. Yeah. Yeah,
(17:14):
so yeah, pretty neat would beincredible. So Legacy dash exteriors dot com
great place to check out. Thatis Josh's website, Legacy Exteriors. It's
not your personal website. But no, I don't have a personal website.
I don't want to know what wouldbe on that first website. But that
is the website for Legacy Exteriors. You can call them two Gang to learn
more two two one three thousands. But again, no matter what exterior project
(17:34):
you want to tackle, line yourhome, windows, gutters, siding,
decks, doors, roofs, andthen everything we just talked about today,
including pergolas too, which we didn'tget on a ton but all of that
is available at Legacy Exteriors. Myfinal point to wrap it up, Josh,
you brought up a great thing.I just want to mention again,
if you want to do a projectlike this, a four season room,
three season room, whatever it is, you're dealing with one contractor one because
(17:59):
you guys do everything, roof siding, all of it. How easy and
simple could that be for people?Right, it's you, It's it's it's
definitely it makes the homeowners process andproject go smoother for them. Yeah,
it's quicker in and out. Buton our standpoint, it's easy scheduling because
(18:22):
we're not having to rely on othercompanies to do the various things on this
project. Yeah, because if there'sa lot of trades that are on a
project like this, you got yougot roofers, you got sighters, uh,
you got electricians. You know, there's a lot of different things.
So keeping it all in house isis huge for just the making the project
(18:45):
more seamless. Like you said again, all that information Legacy Desk Exteriors dot
Com. Josh, the rest ofyour Tuesday, my friend, you too,
Happy holidays, Yeah, same toyou. I'll see you next week.
Yeah. So every week we're sayinghappy holidays. I think that's just
what you say. I like it, Holly, Holly Christmas. I'll get
some bells next week. We getwhen you say it. It's hard to
say it without a smile. Itis. That's a good point. Yeah,
(19:06):
it is radio. But they cantell where smile is. That's that's
right. Let's get out of here. More two for Tuesday on the way.
I want a one point five.I b a f Finn
