Speaker 1 (00:02):
In its earliest days, the major function of radio was news.
Going on here, you're beautiful.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Let everybody go.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Why don't you put on a show and charge it mission? Okay,
so I would say something would music, I'm.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Tomic, you're talk.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
It will be a show for everyone who loves music
and murder. Coming on, Chuck, we got it a show
to do. Showtime. Are you ready? I'm ready to read
job bag? Good morning, six ten. It's Friday. It's Friday.
It's Friday, the week of this year. It's Friday. Hey,
(00:50):
we're giving away more tickets for that game against Carolina
at home this weekend Northwest Stadium. That's coming up. We've
got one last pair that's coming up just before nine
o clock this morning. Adam Peters, GM of your Commanders,
will be on the show about eight thirty this morning.
We'll chat about last week's game, about the team, and
(01:11):
his thoughts on this weekend's game. You can never take
any team lightly, right. It's the NFL. But this should
be a win.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Should it should be should.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Be a win? Right? And Jaden is still just freaking
nature good. So we'll chat with him at eight thirty.
Tim Murray, it's actually coming up on the show about
what about ten minutes from now right? Uh? Is that right? Yeah,
he's about six twenty so the Big Wager. So you
can get your bet, your bet straight.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
How'd you do last night?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Son of a bitch? What I say last night? Yesterday
when I was leaving, when I was talking to Dennis,
I said, I want to bet the Saints. But if
I bet the Saints, the Broncos are going to win.
You did, yeah, and he said, he said, bet to Broncos.
I was like, no, because in the Saints win. So
with my gut, right, that's the Saints. There you go, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
It's almost spooky how that works with you. It's like
whichever direction you go, no matter what, it is, always
the opposite. Terrible Tim will give you some advice and
me I need it. Coming up here in just a
few minutes. You can catch Tim show the Big Wager
right here pre game before every game on Big one hundred.
(02:26):
And I mean you can catch him again Sunday. I
like to catch him right before the game.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
He's on a couple hours before the game because he'll
usually give you you know that the odds are where
they're at on Sunday and he'll usually give you like
his best picks for for that Sunday afternoon. I have
actually won some money taking taking his advice on those.
I should do that more often every time. I have
this thing where I think my gut is telling me something.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
No it is, but it's lying to you.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
It's totally lying to me. All Right, we'll take a
break here and we'll be back to it in just
a few It is DC's Classic Crack, Big one hundred,
DC's Classic Rockets, Big one hundred, and from the Big Wager,
which you can catch a pregame right here on Big
one hundred before every game. It's Tim Murray. Tim, Welcome
(03:17):
to the show, and how you doing this morning. I'm great,
man is.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
I know they're coming off a loss, but boy, it
doesn't feel like a loss. No, that's I know that's
loser talk, but boy, it's a fun time.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
There's no doubt. I've been saying it all week, like
I'm not mad. They went out there and fought till
the end, and they were competitive, and you know, you
walk away with a few things you can fix. But
that was one of the best teams in the NFL
at their home stadium. I thought they played well and
Jaden still looks fantastic, does well.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
And I think the big thing about it is what
the betting market and the perception of that performance and
what we saw from Philadelphia was. The funny thing is
Philadelphia wins, Washington loses, and at DraftKings, Washington now is
the favorite to win the NFC East. So that is
that's pretty telling of what the betting market thought of
(04:10):
this past weekend despite a loss there. So who would
have thunk it middle of October, coming off of four
and thirteen year that Washington would be the favorite to
win the division?
Speaker 1 (04:22):
But here we are. Yeah, you had to bring it up,
didn't you the four and thirteen year? You had to.
Speaker 6 (04:27):
Hey, that four and thirteen year brought us Jaydon Daniels.
So but you know what, Yeah, we'll take it. It
was worth it. It was worth every painful minute of it.
Speaking of that game this weekend, I think I look
this morning and it's up to eight. Now, what would
you what would you say about Commanders in eight?
Speaker 5 (04:46):
Yeah, I mean this is a spot where Washington is
and you know, I've seen this from a number of
folks that I that I follow out here in Las Vegas.
Washington is becoming a very popular team for the betters,
and it makes sense right with the way Jaden Daniels
is playing, and you know how this has become such
a fun team to watch. It's just kind of kind
(05:07):
of crazy, I think. I mean, this is the biggest
favorite Washington has been in seven years.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
The last time they.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
Were a favorite of eight or more you have to
go back to twenty seventeen when they were a twelve
point favorite against the Niners when they had CJ.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Bethard as their quarterback.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
So, you know, I feel like I've had a decent
read on these spots here for Washington, and I just
I want to take Washington, but I you know, you
look at this year and depending on how last week
you graded out, because Washington closed about a touchdown favorite.
At some point they were a six and a half
(05:49):
point favorite, but you tend to look at things as
how they closed. So if you look at the favorites
of six points or more just a week ago, they
are not faring all that well.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
This year. It's kind of been carnage.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
So last week Baltimore and Washington, Baltimore was a touchdown
favorite and that went off seven.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
So that would be a push Philadelphia and Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
Philadelphia closed an eight eight and a half point favorite,
and that game Philly one but did not cover. And
then Atlanta did cover against Carolina, the team Washington's playing,
of course here this week. So if you go back
and look at these big favorites, they are now three
seventeen and two once is spread. So that would be
(06:38):
my kind of worry is for some reason the big
dogs have have been barking quite a bit this week
or this year, I should say, But I guess the
way I would look at it if I had to
play it, I think there's gonna be points on Saturday,
which is always fun. You know, I would say, you know,
we got there. It wasn't easy last week. If you
(06:58):
bet the over, you got there at thirty to twenty three,
just eking over that number. So I don't know if
Carolina's gonna be able to stop Washington, and I still
have my concerns about Washington's defense.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Right right, here's one that I was actually surprised. It's
only a point and a half, but uh, forty nine
Ers are favored over the Chiefs this weekend.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
Yeah, I like the San Francisco forty nine Ers year
on the spot. Really yeah, you know, I know that
Kansas City's coming off of bye, and you know Andy
Reid historically has has fared quite well coming off of bye.
And Patrick Mahomes, if you look up when he's an underdog,
the number is.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Oh, yeah, he's like two, or he's like twenty and
two or something that isn't under It's ridiculous. Yeah, it
really is incredible.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
But I'll say this last year in the Super Bowl,
which was in my backyard in Las Vegas, San Francisco
went off as a two point favorite, and now they're
a one point favorite at home. Now, Christian McCaffrey's not
going to play, of course, but running backs don't necessarily
move the line, even though even though Christian McCaffrey is
an absolute beast, So think about that.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
In San Francisco.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
Niners are a one point favorite in the Super Bowl,
a game that went to overtime in Kansas City one.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
But you don't want to react too much.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
San Francisco is a two point favorite, So I kind
of say the line sometimes tells you the story. And
you've got an undefeated Kansas City Chief team coming off
a bye, and yet they're an underdog in San Francisco.
It makes you scratch your chin a little bit. So,
as I like to say, this wouldn't be necessarily embrace
(08:36):
the stink, which is embrace the kind of funky line,
but I think the line's telling you the story here.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
I like San Francisco fantastic. Any others you're looking at
this weekend? Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
The other one would be if we get three and
a half in the Giants Philadelphia game. I'm gonna take
the Giants plus three and a half right now at
DraftKings it's three. But if we get the three and
a half, I like the Giants. We mentioned Philadelphia last
week struggling a little bit in an ugly game against Cleveland,
but yeh, a divisional game at home. The Giants offense
(09:07):
certainly has a lot of questions, but I trust the
Giants defense, and there seems to be something off of
Philadelphia right now.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
So you know, maybe it's.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
The Commander fan in me hoping for carnage and you'd
much rather the Giants win this game for the Commanders
than the Eagles. But I think at three and a half,
it would be a play for me on the New
York Giants if we can get that hook to arrive
there on Giants Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I just wonder if Saquon Barkley is going to have
a little something to prove going back, you know, certainly
as possible. Yeah, we'll see, all right, Tim. I appreciate
it as always, Man, Always a pleasure to speak with you,
and look forward to chatting with you again next week. Man,
can't wait, Man, it'll be great. Sounds good. DC's Class crocket,
it's big one hundred and good morning to you. Did
you see that They put out a list of the
(09:54):
most affordable NFL teams to follow. It's based on everything,
ticket price, concessions, you know, gear, everything, and commanders like
third most affordable team in the country to follow. They
won't be for long this well, don't get ahead of yourself.
Don't get ahead of yourself there, Spanky. One game at
(10:16):
a time, One game at a time. Yeah, third most affordable.
I think Atlanta's in there, and there was another team
we'll talk about. We'll chat with that in Peter's about
that a little bit later this morning. In this day
and age, that's a wonderful thing when you can follow
your team and it's not going to cost you an
arm and a leg. By the way, we determined an
arm and a leg ninety ninety Mili. We have a
(10:40):
price tag for it now as Tom wants to get
four things. I know, car mufflers and firearms silencers were
made by the same guy. His name is Hiram Piercy Maxim.
What a cool name.
Speaker 7 (10:55):
I know.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
I was just thinking I want that name.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Hear him Pierri or here Piercy Maximum. That is cool.
Obviously he had a problem with loud noises. Obviously he
went to work on that.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
His name made up for all of it.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
YEA, a rock is considered a boulder if it's more
than ten point one inches in diameter. Now you know.
Now you know the difference between a rock and boulder.
It's ten point one inches. Alexander Graham Bell coined the
term greenhouse effect clear back in nineteen seventeen. That was
(11:32):
almost forty years after he invented the telephone. Steak and
Shake and Maximum magazine are both owned by the same company. Wow,
I did not know that.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Is Maxim still in print?
Speaker 1 (11:46):
I don't know if it's still in print, it's still digital?
Is anything still in print?
Speaker 2 (11:50):
I don't know?
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I mean, I guess it is. It's just they probably
don't sell a lot of them.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
I subscribe to that for years.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Oh god, who didn't, Right, that was the greatest like
guy magazine ever.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
You had Maxim. You had stuff too at the same time.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
That it was kind of a ripoff of Maximum though.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Yeah, they were identical. Yeah, I got them both though.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Yeah. Maxim was great.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
It was fantastic.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
It's great. I loved it. And it had a lot
of short attention span stuff like really quick stories and
tidbits and facts, and.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
It was witty too.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yeah. The company is at a San Antonio They're called
Big Lari Holdings. And finally, California produces almost ninety five
percent of the wine grapes grown in the US. If
it were its own country, California would be the fourth
biggest wine producing country in the world, behind France, Italy,
(12:41):
and Spain. And now you know six forty three, it's
DC's Classic Rock Big one.
Speaker 7 (12:47):
Hundred WBIGFM, Washington and iHeartRadio Station, Live from the Nation's Capital.
This is Big Rock Mornings with Jackson on Big one hundred,
DC's Classic Rock bag.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Good morning to you. It is seven o'clock, DC's Classic
Rock Big one hundred We have tickets later this morning
to give away for the home game at Northwest Stadium
this weekend against Carolina. Adam Peters will be on the
show at eight thirty this morning, Florida Man Sports on
Tapping More. It's all coming up. DC's Classic Rock, Big
one hundred, DC's Classic Rock. It's Big one hundred. There's Nirvana.
(13:24):
Come as you are gonna hangover cure for you?
Speaker 2 (13:27):
What you got?
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Do you have any hangover cures at work that work? Now? Yeah?
I mean, either just hydrate, that's about it.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Stay drunk.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
I just don't drink near as much as I used to.
But when I was younger, I guess I found the
best way to avoid a nasty hangover was just really
really hydrating the night before I would go and even
when I would come home and go to bed, I
would down like the biggest glass of water I could
and like four Adville and then crash and then it
(13:58):
would take the edge off in the morning. I had
a friend that would and I tried it one time
and it was surprisingly it worked really really well. He
would do a beer and then a water, and then
a beer, and then a water and then a beer. Yeah,
so he'd do it at the bar, right, and he
(14:19):
swore by it. Just that it keeps you hydrated, which is,
you know, half the battle with hangovers. You're so dehydrated.
But a study just found that regular exercise might help
with hangovers. They're not quite sure why, but they say
they tend to be milder for people who get at
least thirty minutes of exercise a week, so it's not
even a lot thirty a week. A new study found
(14:42):
the best way to deal with him is exercise. Don't worry.
They don't mean while you're hungover or while you're drinking,
just at any point during the week. They found that
people who do not work out it as much in
general tend to have worse hangovers, and they are much
milder for people who get a bit of exercise. And
(15:02):
again they're not quite sure why, but they have some theories.
They say, you know, exercise obviously releases endorphins that ups
your pain tolerance, you sleep better, reduces inflammation, and ups
your metabolism. And with the metabolism, to think it might
just your body. People that work out it might clear
the alcohol out of your body faster. Whatever the reason
(15:25):
less of a hangover if you work out, So start training.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Kids, say the montage that you were talking about.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
Yeah, picturing now, Yes, make sure I'm going to do
a rocky montage. And it's like, what are you doing?
What are you training for to drink? Why are you
training so hard? Because I'm going to binge drink this weekend.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
I see a video in our future.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Oh yeah, training to drink? I love it. I want
to talk about this. Coming up here in just a bit,
we have the final letter for the big word of
the week. Gonna set somebody up with Black Crows tickets.
We'll give you that final letter in about ten minutes
from now. There is a strange substance washing up on
the beaches in Newfoundland in Canada, and they don't know
what it is. And the best way to describe it
(16:10):
is is kind of like bread dough or play dough,
big gloves of it and they don't know what it is,
no clue. It's washing up on all the beaches for
like a fifty miles stretch.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Did you ever see that movie The Stuff?
Speaker 1 (16:25):
I think it's alien eggs. Well, to be honest with you,
so was that was it? The stuff? You watch them?
Really really unknown garbage don't you, dude, it's a classic
the stuff I've nerved. Well, I want to google that.
I've never even heard of the stuff.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
You gotta be kidding me.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Swear to God. Maybe if I see like a picture
or poster or something, all it's just called the stuff.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Stuff?
Speaker 1 (16:49):
When did this come out?
Speaker 2 (16:50):
The eighties when all the good stuff came out there?
Speaker 1 (16:55):
It is the stuff? Huh No, Still nothing brings back
no memories. I'm sorry. Uh, let's see what had a
lot of stars? Garrett Morris, who, Paul Sorvino who Larry
Cohen film. M hmm huh, all right, well maybe maybe
(17:15):
I'll check it out. I'll check it out now. I'm
kind of interested. And that what is it? What was
that about? Like stuff was washing up?
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Just about stuff that was taking over to people eating them.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
They say, they say. The storyline follows a yogurt like
substance that mysterly, mysteriously comes out of the earth, telling
you see, Oh wow, maybe that's it. Uh, all right,
we'll talk about that coming up here in just a
few It is seven thirteen DC's Classic Rock, Big one hundred,
DC's Classic Rock Hits Big one hundred Kansas carry on
(17:48):
the Wayward Sun. When I was like a teenager, I
used to think I could sing that song. I always
try to like put one, you know how you put
your finger up to your ears hear yourself a little
better singing its. Yeah, I'd sing along to it when
it was on the radio, like, man, I'm pretty good
singing that song. I think I might have a career. No, no,
(18:13):
you know what they did is one day I recorded it.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Oh yeah, oh god, No, it's best that you don't know.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
It's like you think you're in tune and you're like, yeah,
I'm nailing this man, and then you uh, it's like
friends of yours that you know, they think they can
sing and you don't have the heart to tell them, dude,
you are awful. Yeah. I just recorded it and was like,
oh my god, that is that's atrocious. So there's some
(18:41):
strange stuff, some strange stuff. Grass keeps saying, it's like
the movie just stuff stuff. Now, in that movie, they
found some strange things coming out of the earth, and
some idiot tasted it and was like, oh it tastes good.
(19:02):
They make it into a yogurt or start selling it,
and then what it just like it takes over the
world takes over. Is it like an alien or is
it a bacteria or alien?
Speaker 2 (19:12):
You've never seen the stuff.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
I don't think anybody's seen the stuff.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
All oh, people have seen the stuff.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
I think you might be that guy, the one guy
that watched the stuff.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
Everybody's the stuff. Stuff's a classic.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
I even looked at the trailer and the poster, going, well,
maybe I did see No, I've never even heard of it. Anyway,
there's this stuff washing up on the beaches in Newfoundland
in Canada, and they have no idea these mystery blobs.
I was just watching a video of this old man
walking the beach and he's got his cane. He's poking
it with his cane and they're interviewing him. What do
(19:47):
you think it is? I don't know, but it's it's
kind of like plato, like big chunks of plato anywhere
from like you know, the size of like a baseball,
up to I don't know the size of like a frisbee.
But it's delicious, and they say it has the strong
smell of vegetable oil. So these unidentified white blobs. It's
(20:10):
about a fifty miles stretch of beach where it's washing up.
One of the locals described it as dowe like half
made bread. My god, that sounds so eighties, Just.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
It's unclear if anyone has tasted it. I wouldn't, but
there's a significant amount of this stuff on the on
the beach, and.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Enough to mass market in the form of yogurt.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
No.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
I just wonder if it's some biohazard. Wouldn't be out
there playing around with it anyway? They don't. They don't
know if maybe it was something dumped by the commercial industry.
They have collected samples, and one local was told it
was being analyzed at the lab, but that was weeks
ago and they have still not heard back. One preliminary
(21:02):
test suggested it could be plant based, but it's unclear
and they've done nothing, no cleanup or anything. They've just
left it on the beaches. High tide comes in, it
gets buried, more comes up, and just keeps coming. One
person said it doesn't seem like it will degrade on
its own. After watching it the last.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Few weeks, endless food supply.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
That's somebody joked, fry it up, put some molasses on
it and let us know. It's like it's nasty. Looking
too it does it? It looks like bread dough. Here's
this old man on the beach, deey like Dewey's poking
it with a stick. Who knows, man, I guess we'll uh,
maybe it is the stuff. Maybe I like a good
(21:51):
mystery though. I'll start following that story to see if
they ever figure out what it is.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Oh, I know exactly what it is.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Oh seven twenty six. Let's give him the for the
big word of the week. Let me get that.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Here we go, ok, the big word of the week
on Dig one hundred.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Today's letter is the letter E as in watermelon, the
letter E.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Everybody loves the stuff it is.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
The letter E isn't equal the letter E is in equestrian.
There you go. It completes the word. If you know
the word, we're gonna set you up ticket to see
the Black Crows in December. Nice prize four nine three
one three good luck from DC's Classic Rock Big one hundred,
DC's Classic Rockets Big one hundred. And we have wrapped
up the big word of the week. Let's see if
we can get a winner. We'll go to the phones.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Hi.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
Who's this?
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Hi?
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Hi, Peggy, how are you Peggy. Do you know the
word I do.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
It's false, it is false.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Yes, congratulations, nice job. We're gonna set you up with
tickets to see the Black Crows in December. Wow, awesome
one you did. Indeed, stand by and we'll get you
all set up with your tickets.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
All right, Okay, thank you, you bet.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
New letter comes your way Monday, and another big word
of the week next week, and I'm sure we will
have something cool to give away. Oh, I do know.
Next week we're gonna have tickets to talk about a
big game. This will be on the national stage when
you have the number one draft pick against the number
two draft pick, and we're gonna give away tickets for
that game. See the Commanders play the Bears from DC's
(23:28):
Classic Rock, Big One, DC's Classic Rock. It's a big
one hundred men at work laying down under. It's Jackson here.
Good morning to you. Seven forty one. Adam Peters from
your Washington Commander's gonna be on the store on the
show Coming Up. Store popped into my head. I must have.
(23:49):
I think I was just reading a story about this
guy that he ripped off a convenience store and stole
like ten thousand dollars worth of lottery tickets store was
on my mind. He's gonna be on the show coming
up at about eight thirty this morning, which is pretty awesome.
We'll talk to him about the last game, and then
of course what a he's thinking about Carolina that it's
(24:13):
gonna be another gorgeous day, absolutely gorgeous. Thing is supposed
to be like sunshine and seventy three degrees for the
game on Sunday, So can't beat it.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Man.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Fan base is fired up. Commander's pretty damn good this year,
and it's going to be a beautiful day for a
home game. And then of course next week we're gonna
give away tickets for the game against the Bears. That's
gonna be the I think that got moved to four
o'clock and I want to say Tony Romo and Gang
are coming in to call that game. That's gonna put
the number one draft pick up against the number two
(24:46):
draft pick and should be a fantastic game. Caleb Williams
taking on Jayden Daniels as a Bears take on their commanders.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Win game at
a time, game at a time, Let's look at Carolina
this weekend. Coming up here in the eight o'clock hour,
Florida Man. As I mentioned, Adam Peters. Plus, let's do
(25:07):
this again with the Brian Reagan tickets. If you go
to the Iheard app, pull up Big one hundred, click
on that little microphone there, and just leave us a message.
We've got a four pack of tickets for Brian Reagan,
and all you have to do is leave your name
and say, hey, just want to put my name in
the hat for the tickets, and we will randomly draw
from those entries this morning and we'll set somebody up
(25:28):
with the four pack of tickets to see Reagan. All right,
it is DC's Classic Rock, Big one hundred WBIGFM, Washington
and iHeartRadio station, live from the Nation's Capital.
Speaker 7 (25:40):
This is Big Rock Mornings with Jackson on Big one hundred,
DC's Classic Rock.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
And good morning to you. It's eight o'clock. Coming up
on the show. Adam Peters from the Washington Commander is
going to join us. At about eight thirty. We have
brand new Tom Petty. Probably thinking of yourself, how how
is that possible? Pet He is no longer with us. Well,
we'll explain all I can tell you is We do
(26:08):
indeed have brand new Tom Petty and we're gonna play
it for you coming up in just a few here
right stick around. It's DC's classic Rock, Big one hundred
DC's classic Rock. It's big one hundred ac DC Highway
to Hell. Think about this. RG three one Rookie of
the Week seven times record belongs to Justin Herbert. He
won it eight times in twenty twenty. Jayden Daniels already
(26:28):
has five in a month and a half Rookie of
the Week awards. That's fantastic, man. We're gonna chat with
Adam Peters coming up here in just a bit. We
have new Tom Petty for you just around the corner.
This is one of those previously unreleased songs. I we'll
tell you more about it coming up here in just
a bit. But it's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
I think you're gonna enjoy it, So sit tight for that.
So file this under the you know how they always
this is good for you. Six months later, Actually we
were wrong. This is bad for you, red wine. A
year later. Actually no, in moderation, it is good for you.
Eight months later. Actually we think it's bad for you.
(27:12):
Standing desks apparently, Yeah, they're not so great. It was
all the rage for a while. I saw standing desk,
standing desk where where you don't sit all day, you
work at a standing desk, and you see them all
over the place now. But I saw somebody take a
step further the other day where the guys were working
(27:33):
on it. It's a startup, and it was these two
guys and they were working on standing desk and at
the standing desk they had a treadmill, so they were
walking while they were working too, And I'm just like,
this is a little much anyway. Researchers now say people
who sit or stand for long periods need to still
schedule regular movement throughout the day. You know, in the
(27:54):
beginning it was built as something that could prevent stroke
and heart failure, and not so much now they're saying
that it could actually be harmful. Research involving more than
eighty thousand adults in the UK also discovered that standing
does not reduce the risk of any disease, heart disease, stroke,
(28:14):
heart failure, despite the wildly help belief that it did.
This was done by the University of Sydney and they
found that being on your feet for more than a
couple hours a day may actually increase the risk of
developing problems such as deep vein thrombosis and varicose veins.
These study fundings were published in the Journal of Epidemiology,
(28:39):
and they say the key takeaway here is standing for
too long just as bad as sitting for too long
and could be risky for some people when it comes
to circulatory health, and it does not improve your cardiovascular
health and can actually lead to lead to some issues. Wow,
what are you supposed to do? Lay down in work?
(29:01):
Is that the next one lay down and work?
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Eventually that will become a trend.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Yeah, probably it seems like on the surface, you know
that it would be better for you.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Maybe that's all the time than all the pressure you're
putting on your legs, your knees, your back.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Maybe that's what the guys that we're on the trend will. Yeah,
we're trying to do because what they're saying is just
you need to you need movement throughout the day, that
you shouldn't sit too long nor stand too long. All right,
eight to eleven and coming up, we're gonna chat with
Adam Peters. We've got the new Tom Petty for you.
We're still giving away the Brian Reagan four pack of tickets.
All you have to do is jump on the iHeart app,
(29:38):
pull up Pig one hundred, click on that little microphone,
leave us a message to drop us your name and
say you want to put your name in the hat
for the tickets. We'll draw for those randomly at the
end of the show and coming up just before nine o'clock,
we have tickets for the home game against Carolina this
weekend at Northwest Stadium. Is supposed to be a gorgeous day.
Sunshine like seventy three to seventy three degrees. I think
is the last I saw on the forecast, so beautiful
(30:00):
for football. Stick around. It's DC's Classic Rock, Big one hundred,
DC's Classic Rock. It's Big one hundred. You see, we
found the island where they're all hiding, where they all
do hot suit too. Jim Morrison, Tupac, Biggie, Tom Petty,
Michael Hutchins, Chris Cornell found it. Yep, Lane Staley, that
(30:24):
is new Tom Petty, I never thought I would say
that again, a previously unreleased song. He wrote that song.
And then was it Roseanne Cash that put that out?
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Yeah, a couple of people put it out. Rosanne Cash
had a number one hit with it. She had a
country version of.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
It, right, And I guess they went back and found
the original audio of Tom doing it, and yeah, remastered it.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
I don't know if they even knew that he had
recorded it. Wow, there we go.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
It's on the new there's a new version of Long
After Dark. There's a deluxe edition that drops today and
it's on that.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
That is fantastic. Man. Tom Petty's one of those artists
you know, there are some that you know, it hit
pretty hard, and he's one of those guys that just
every now and then I go, man, I miss Tom Petty,
Like man, I miss like looking forward to new music
from Tom Petty. But we do have that and it
sounds pretty good. Coming up on the show, Adam Peters,
(31:14):
general manager of your Washington Commanders. We will chat with
him just around the corner on DC's Classic Rocket's a
Big one hundred.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Do you want to do Florida?
Speaker 1 (31:22):
Man? Oh, I guess we could. I mean I was
more anxious to get to Adam Peters than Florida. Man.
I mean, if you had a choice, what would you pick?
You talked to Adam about the commander.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Talked to Adam. But then you know, Florida man, you
come from Tom Petty. Like Tom Petty's already got me
in the mood for a Florida man. So as soon
as you're ready for one.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Kind of counted Tom Petty as the Florida man.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
Yeah, but gotta put a little more, a little more
spunk into.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
It, you know, a little more. Gott a fuck.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Well, give me an intro. Let's do it, Florida man.
You can't get anything by this guy. Man all right.
Florida authority say they found cocaine and methanphetamine wrapped around
a man's penis during a traffic stop. There we go. Well,
he did try to hide it, I mean he put
(32:12):
some effort into it, he did, but he denied the
drugs were his.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Cher Step say they stopped a vehicle driving without its
lights on at four am. They report the driver was
arrested on charges of DUI and marijuana possession. Doerty say
they found a gun that didn't help his cause under
the passenger seat. While searching the car, they discovered the drugs.
While searching the passenger himself, he had somehow taped them
(32:45):
around his privates, and I guess was trying to hide
them there. I don't know what the deal is. I
don't know as hopefully something that comes us. He's gouda
rip it off, like a band aid said when they
found him, the drugs were not his. Of course those
aren't mine. Never seen those before in my life, and
(33:07):
he was not sure who the drugs belonged to. Of
course I might have something to do with the DUI
part of that. I'm sure he's pretty wasted. We come, right.
It's like when they catch people hiding, you know, drugs
unmentionable places, right, They dude like searches and then they're like,
(33:29):
I don't know who those are. The might must have
put that mine. I don't know, never seen those before
my life. I have no idea how those got there,
not mine. Must have been a public restroom, I don't know.
Eight twenty six, all right, we will chat with Adam
Peter's coming up in minutes, DC's Classic Rock Big one hundred,
DC's Classic Rock Kids, Big one hundred. Jackson here, Good
morning to you, Adam Peters, joining us by broad to
(33:51):
you by fog Nigma, Command the Cloud and Dominate cybersecurity
operations with FuG Enigma Adam, Good morning, How are you, sir?
What's up Jackson? How you doing, buddy? I'm doing pretty good. Man. Hey,
it sounds weird to say congrats. Sound a great game,
and it also probably sounds weird to say, well, I'm
not mad the Ravens game. I thought the team showed
(34:14):
they can compete with anyone. I thought that Jayden continued
to shine. And there's a lot of promising stuff to
take out of that game. And I you know, they
fought right down to the wire. I'm pretty happy with it.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
Yeah, that's a really good team that we played and
in their place, and our guys battled till the end
and and just needed one stop at the end. But
really happy with our guy, how our guys competed, and
and certainly I want to win those games. But you know,
we're going to keep doing that. We're gonna keep battling.
And that's a fine of this team and how the
(34:48):
HS prepared and were We're not going to be out
of any games.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Yeah. Yeah, And I tell you, I I love Eckler.
I think that that guy's just got a laundry list
of talents and things he's good at but I I
feel like we definitely missed B Robbin that game. Is
I'm hearing that he's doing well and maybe back this weekend.
Is that the case?
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Yeah, B rubbed a huge part of what we do
in our identity and so having him in the games
is a big deal. And when he's not, he's certainly
feel when you when you when he's not there, But
he is, He's turning in the right direction. So we'll
find out a little bit more today and tomorrow, but
I hope to see him out there Sunday.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Fantastic And on on that, I guess On the injury note,
Jonathan Allen, that was that was sad to see how's
he doing?
Speaker 3 (35:33):
So he just had surgery and he's doing well. He's
as tough as they come. He's a he's a warrior,
as you guys know, and we're gonna miss him, miss
him in the locker room, miss him on the field.
But certainly he's doing well. He has successful surgery, so
that was really good to hear. So starting to rehab
here pretty soon.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Yeah, how long it was a pectoral tear? Right? How
long do those typically take to heels that that's a
season right at least.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Yeah, it's three to five months, you know, just depending
on the severity of it. And you know, I don't
ever count anything out with anybody as good as John Ja,
but you know, typically it's a season season ender.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Yeah. Well, I just saw this yesterday, and I think
in this day and age, it's absolutely fantastic. And the
Washington Commanders were just named one of the most affordable
teams to follow in the NFL, which is pretty cool
because this is a year where the fan base is
back in full force despite some rough years, the loyalty
(36:36):
is still there and uh and the support is probably
stronger than ever. And to be one of the most
affordable teams to follow, like I said, in this day
and age, with inflation and everything, that's pretty cool. Is
that something you guys will strive to continue?
Speaker 3 (36:51):
Yeah? I think really just it just speaks to our
fans more more so than anything, that everybody's showing up
and showing out, you know, after after some years, and
this home field advantage is really going to be awesome
for us this year and moving forward. And I just
you know, no matter how you know, where we are
on the scale from one to thirty two, it's still expensive,
(37:13):
and so for our fans to come out and spend
their harder and money to come out and support us,
that means the world of all of us.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Yeah. Yeah, And it looks like it's going to be
another gorgeous day for football coming up at Northwest this weekend.
And I got to thinking about this because I was like, Wow,
it's going to be another beautiful day, perfect day for
the fans, perfect day to play football. And I got
to thinking about Jayden and the fact that he played
it at LSU and ASU. Has he played cold weather games?
(37:40):
And if not, I mean, I'm sure there had to
be a couple in college. How does how do you
how do you guys prepare guys for like cold weather
games that are inevitably going to come.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Yeah, yeah, there's there's a balance you strike when you're
preparing for that because you want guys to be ready
for the elements, but at the same time, you have
to get your work in at practice, so you know,
sometimes if it's a rainy game, people do wet ball drills.
We'll just pose down the balls and practice with that
so we can have ball security and be able to
throw the ball in wet conditions snow. There's not a
(38:15):
whole lot you can really prepare for with snow, but
you know, we do. We do practice outside and if
it's too bad, we have the practice inside to get
the work. But Jaden's prepared for that, and Jaden's played
in some cold weather games in college, and I have
all the confidence in the world and him and the
rest of the guys to be ready for that.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
Well. I hope they enjoy the nice weatherwise here because
it looks like it's going to be another right now
is Yeah, it's great. Yeah, it's amazing. Say, I heard Jayden,
I think he was on Keishan's show talking about virtual
reality training and it seems the Commanders may have been
one of the early adopters of this technology. I'm just
fascinated by it. But as a way to get reps
(38:52):
without the wear and tear on the body. Do you
think this is something that you're going to see a
lot of in the NFL in the coming years.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
Yeah. I think, you know, more and more teams are
going to try to do that, and I think really
for us, it speaks to our ownership again, where they're
they're ready to invest and anytime we can get an edge.
You know, this league is made to be everybody to
be even and have parody throughout the league, So how
can you get edges? And Jost is really willing to
(39:21):
invest in anything that can get us an edge. And
Jaden was really convicted about this and he did it
in college. It's a company called Cognalize, and it really
helps him. Like you said, just get a lot of
extra reps and different looks of you know, each team
we're playing. You know we're playing all right, we're playing
Carolina this week at home, so it'll have the Panthers
on the other side of the field and in our
(39:43):
home stadium. And if we're playing you know, in a
few weeks, we're going to be playing in New York
and it'll have the exact replica of the New York
Giants Stadium where the playclock is, where the video screens
are shoot. When we were in Tampa that they had
the Ring of Fame and Doug Williams is on the arena.
Fame was in this one of this thing. It was
It's so detailed, it's unbelievable. So it really makes you
(40:05):
look and feel like you're in the stadium. So you
can get some really almost as close as you can
to realize reps.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Yeah, I tell you, well, I'm getting similar training myself.
I have I downloaded. I'm Madden twenty four on my phone.
I'm playing the Commanders for an entire season. You're not
going to be happy with me. I got us off
to a one and six start, but I'm we're getting better.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
So it's how you finished, so good luck.
Speaker 1 (40:33):
Yeah, it's all that matters. All the matters is I'm
going to be ready, ready to play by the playoffs.
Speaking of Jaden, this guy puts in the work. You
hear it from you, hear it from well, you hear
it from you guys. You hear it from his teammates,
people talking about how they get to the building. And
Jaden has been there since like four and has already
got his work out in, has already studied tape. It's
really amazing. How rare is it, because you've been around
(40:55):
a lot of players in your career, How rare is
it to see that dedication and that focus, that commit
man in a rookie, in a first year guy.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
Yeah, it is rare, And we have a lot of
rookies like that that that are putting in the work,
which is just a testament to these guys and their
work ethic and the people around them. But I can
tell you all the great ones, and I'm not putting,
you know, not putting Jayden in the Hall of Fame
by any means, but all the great ones that I've
been around. I've been around Tom Brady, I've been around
Peyton Manning, and those guys are what made him great
(41:27):
is that is that work ethic. They all have the talent.
Everybody at this level has the talent and to be
able to be really good. But what makes you great
is being dedicated to your craft and doing things at
times and when other people don't want to be doing them.
So Jayden getting up that early and doing all that,
He's on the right track for sure. But that's that's
really what separates the good from the great.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
Yeah, so you're telling me I should play more Madden
twenty four. I mean, I suppose I should put in the.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
Get up a couple hours earliers just to play mad
might be two and five instead of want there you go.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
Look, I want to be great. Want I want to
be great. Look, I know in the NFL we were
trying to jump ahead, and I'm not. I'm not thinking
so much about the actual competition. I'm just thinking about
the excitement surrounding that upcoming game against the Bears. Having
the number one and number two draft picks facing off
at home at Northwest obviously will be a fantastic matchup,
(42:22):
but I'm thinking about just what an amazing experience that
is going to be for the fans seeing two rising
stars go head to head. There. Are you pretty excited
about that because that will obviously be on the national stage.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
Yeah, I think you know. And you're going to get
the coach speak and cliche out of me here, but
it's real. It's Carolina teams good and that's who we're
focused on, and it's going to be really tough battle
this Sunday, and it's nice to have, you know, for
the fans and everybody to look at the look ahead
at that and you know what, we can talk really
(42:58):
a long time about that next week, but this week
we really want to hit on the Panthers and they're
a good team and we're gonna have to work cut
out for us. All.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
Yeah, I love that. No matter how hard I try,
you guys will not.
Speaker 3 (43:12):
That.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
I love it. I love it. It shows you you
know what you're doing. Obviously it's like, nope, one game
at a time. So let let's circle back to you.
What does a typical day look I was thinking about
this last night. What does a typical day? I know
what it looks like for the coaches because we see it.
What does a typical day look like for a GM
during the season, Like, you know when you get in
and like, what is your day filled with a lot?
Speaker 3 (43:36):
It's it's different every day. You know, you have something
Almost every day you have a surprise, right You think
you're gonna sit down and watch all this tape and
then you turn on the tape and then two hours
later you haven't even watched one play. So but yeah,
just a lot of you know, roster management, people management,
and just making sure we're supporting the coaching staff and the.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
Players as much as we can.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
That's what we're trying to do, especially during the season.
That's what it looks like every day is supporting the
coaches and the players to make sure they have what
they need to go out there and win. And that's
our whole department. And then once you get in the
off season to get a little more looking at the draft,
looking at free agents, But right now it's all about
Sunday and being there and being able to help how
(44:19):
we can for Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
Yeah. So, working with so many different players throughout the
years and with different teams, do you have like, I
would say, one of the most like interesting players you've
ever worked with in terms of like personality, just all
around great guy, somebody who makes you laugh, just you know,
a character like somebody that stands out.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
Yeah, this one won't surprise you at all. But this guy,
whatever you see on TV and on the commercials, he's
the exact same guy. And as George Kittle, George is
like every single day he is energy, fun happy, like
I don't know how he does it. I thought it
was fake for a while, but he is the same
(44:58):
guy every day, and he is a riot man.
Speaker 1 (45:00):
He's uh uh he is.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
He is like one of the true, like old school
characters of the NFL. He belongs in like the seventies.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
You know. Yeah, he's awesome. I actually saw something the
other day of him miked up and it might be
one of the best ones I've ever seen. You're right,
he is and he's funny, like just a really funny
He's really funny.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Whether he has a microphone or not, he's that same guy. Yeah,
it's really cool.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
That's cool. So let me ask you a question about
trust Way. Is he getting bored. That's a good problem
to have, and it's got to feel great to know
you got one of the best in the league when
he's needed. But he hasn't put in a lot of
work this season.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
Yeah, no, he Uh, it's funny like when he's like
as a golfer, you don't play golf for a while,
you go out there and you hack it up. But
Tress came out there on Sunday against Baltimore and he
had an excellent day. So he's a true pro. He's
always going to be ready when his numbers called and
tending them deep, you know, putting the punts in the
right spot. And so he really helped us on Sunday.
(46:00):
And we know we can count on him, you know,
even hopefully we get in the day off, you know,
every single game, but we know that's not going to happen.
So he's always perfect on hold. You know, he's great
with asking the punt. So just really like one of
the best punters in the league and one of the
best punters league has seen.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
Yeah, and I think he's the longest tenured commander, isn't
he Hasn't he been on the team the longest? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (46:21):
Yeah he is, he is, and and uh we're proud
of that and happy to have him here.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
Right. Well, let's just last question for you. I'm I'm
asking for my sports guy because he has got a
terrible man crush on this guy, and I'm Sam Hartman.
Is he as devastatingly good looking in person as he
appears on TV?
Speaker 3 (46:45):
Yees? Yes, he is, especially when you catch him a
sweat listening and little breeze. You know, the hair is
flowing and so it looks like a commercial. You know,
he's he's a good looking kid, and he's an awesome kid.
I think. You know, Sam is one of the first
people in the building here too. You know, we talk
about Jaden and but Sam's here working as hard as
(47:08):
he can from morning till night.
Speaker 1 (47:10):
And he's awesome.
Speaker 3 (47:11):
And he's also really handsome, you right.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
Yeah, Like I just look at him and go, dude,
could be a model. Man. What's he doing playing football?
He reminds me of the guy who's guy Fabio that
they used to cover the romance novels.
Speaker 3 (47:27):
He's a cross between Fabio and Derek Zillanna.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
I mean he could probably put out like a Sam
Hartman calendar and make enough to live on for the
rest of his life. That'd be fantastic. Adam, there's always
a pleasure to speak with you, man. We wish you
the best of luck this weekend, looking forward to a
gorgeous day another another game at home where the fans
will be out in full force, and I know you
guys are going to perform to the best of your
ability and we really look forward to and hopefully we
(47:52):
talk next week, we'll be talking about a win.
Speaker 3 (47:56):
Hell yeah, yeah, we're pumped me back in front of
our fans. Jackson and h really really excited to go
out there and play well for him. So pump to
get talking to you next week and we can talk
about the Bears next week. But thanks for having me on.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
Buddy, Yeah you bet, there you go next week. Next
week I'll get him to talk about the Bears game.
Adam Peters, thank you so much. Have a great day.
That is you bet. That is powered today by fog Enigma,
Command the Cloud and dominate cybersecurity operations with fog Nigma.
He's always fun to talk to. I like to behind
the scenes stuff. I love that, you know, to just
kind of get a peak.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
See.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
Sam Hartman is a good looking dude, isn't he.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
It's universal.
Speaker 1 (48:35):
Huh yeah, it's not just it's not the camera making
them movie.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
Not just Dennis.
Speaker 1 (48:42):
Six DC's class scrock. It's a big one hundred DC's
class scrock iss big one hundred good ridden this green day,
time of your life? What was that was that on
