Speaker 1 (00:00):
In its earliest day, is the major function of radio
was news? What's going on here? You're beautiful? Let everybody go?
Why don't you put on a show and charge of mission? Okay,
(00:21):
so I would say something with music and comedy.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
You're talking.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
It will be a show for everyone who loves music
and murder.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Come on, Chuck, we got it a show to dude. Showtime?
Are you ready? I'm ready, by job.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Hi? How are you good to see you? I can't
really see you, but I'm sure you look fabulous this morning,
because don't you always six eleven. It's DC's class crack
big one hundred. Boy, this hurricane is it? Milton? Why
is it not one with always? That's he has names?
That turned turned out to be the just absolute monsters.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Mills not looking good, Milton.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Uh yeah, dude. It turned into a category five and
you know this to make it twice as bad. This
is hot on the heels of Helene in a lot
of areas. This is this is not good, man, This
is not good. It looks like it's going to make
landfall Wednesday night, Is that right?
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Category five? Wednesday night. That thing is a monster. Just
looking at some of these models. I guess the water
is so warm in the Gulf that it just intensified
faster than they could even forecast. It just just crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
And I've read that the eye is like super small.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Is it? Yeah, yeah, but the storm is pretty larger.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Yeah, I mean it's massive.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Well I'm looking at like, you know, the models, and
you're right, the eye is not that huge kind of
sitting right in the middle of the Gulf. But the
actual storm, holy crap, like a monster. Well godspeed man.
That sucks. That really sucks. It does look like the
(02:19):
you know, and again they can't really predict these things
and it could change on a dime. But it does
look like the path has it going across the state
of Florida, the Florida like mid Midway I guess, like
Tampa Hip and then out into the Atlantic, which means
it would avoid like I'm thinking of places like western
(02:39):
North Carolina, you know, parts of Tennessee, Georgia that just
got pummeled. That's all they need is more rain, right,
all right, It is six thirteen coming up this morning,
we are gonna chat with Zach Selby from Commanders dot
Com at eight am. We will also have a pair
of tickets to give away for Brett Michaels. Don't say
(03:00):
we don't love you Brett Michael's tickets. Come on, I mean,
come on, it's fantastic. I know it seems like he
just played yesterday, but it was actually almost a year
ago now. So we have tickets for that show, and
we'll continue with the Big Word of the Week, and
that's going to be your chance to win Trans Siberian
Orchestra tickets at the end of this week. It's DC's
(03:21):
Classic Rock, Big one hundred, DC's Classic Rock. It's Big
one hundred under Pressure and good morning to you things
I know coming up just before seven o'clock this morning.
A little bit later, we're gonna have some Brett Michael's
tickets to give away and second letter for the big
Word of the Week that's coming your way at about seven
to twenty this morning. That's good for Trans Siberian Orchestra
(03:42):
tickets this week. We will also chat with Zach Selby
at about eight o'clock this morning tomorrow on the shore
on the show LeVar Arrington, who's been preaching the accolades
of this Commander's team for a couple of weeks now.
I think he's gonna be twice as excited tomorrow after
this this latest win. So look forward to that chat
(04:03):
as well. So Zach coming up here in just a bit,
and we'll take care of some quick business here and
we're back to in just a few DC's classic Rock.
It's big one hundreds, Classic Rock. It's big one hundred
six forty. Good morning to you. It is time for
things I know. The earliest known reference to the mile
(04:26):
High Club is from a betting book at a seventeen
eighty five, just two years after the first successful balloon ascent.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
People didn't waste any time.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
But tell me they got it on on the balloon.
Is that what happened? Only about ten to fifteen percent
of our laughter is in response to a joke. The
rest just a response to social cues and situations. The
official I didn't know this the official name for people
living in Indiana Hoosiers, not Indiana in Indiana. And then,
(05:05):
according to the US Government Publishing Offices Style Guidelines, if
you live in Indiana Hoosier. The land speed record for
a tortoise, because I know you want to know, is
point six y three miles per hour. That is zero
point six y three miles per hour. That's trucking for
(05:27):
a turtle. Man. That happened at an amusement park in
England in twenty fourteen. We used to do these turtle races.
Those are fun, man. It's a ski resort A used
to go to occasionally in the winter to take my
son and in the lodge they would have turtle races
(05:49):
and you could bet on the turtles flipping awesome. The
turtles had a number written on their shell and they
would put them all in the center of this like
giant bullseye, and then the first one to get out
of the bulls iye, like out towards the outer rim
would win and you would bet.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Were there announcers that would do like play by play. Yeah,
it was fantastic man.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
I know it sounds silly, but it was a ton
of fun. You couldn't bet real cash. You had to
bet these like resort bucks, right, but then you could
turn around and use those resort bucks for you know, food, drink,
you know, anything at the resort. It was a it's
actually a lot of fun, man. Every time we go back,
it's like turtle races. When diet coke debuted in nineteen
(06:38):
eighty two. That was the very first time Coca Cola
ever used the word coke on any of its products.
That had to be weird using coke for the very
first time.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Did another use it before that?
Speaker 1 (06:54):
No, I don't think so. Well, maybe I mean.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
Possible which came first.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
It's possible people could have shortened Coca Cola to coke
for sure. I mean yeah, But that was the first
time that they used it on any of the products.
And I'm just thinking of that board meeting. I think
we should call it coke and the people going, I
(07:23):
don't know, man, sounds an awful lot like cocaine. Coca cola.
All right, it is six forty three and we will
take care some business here. Zach Selby coming up on
the show at eight o'clock this morning. Got a new
letter for you for the big word of the week,
and that is coming your way. It's seven twenty. That's
good for Trans Siberian Orchestra tickets on Friday. Right here
(07:44):
on DC's Classic Rocket's Big one hundred. DC's Classic Rocket
is Big one hundred free fall in. There's Tom Petty
Jackson here. Good morning to you. I would probably agree
with this. Twenty three percent of people surveyed iPhone owners
claim that they look down on Android users, and twenty
(08:08):
three percent say they could never date absolutely. Yeah, there's
something fundamentally wrong with you. If you use an Android.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
You're in your stupid green bubbles.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
It's like your scarlet letter. Keep it away from me.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I've tried. I've tried, did a couple like product endorsements
for like T Mobile, Samsung, things of those nature. They
always tried to get me to use an Android one.
I would throw I swear to god it, I would
throw this thing across the room within five minutes. If
they're not user friendly. When you need a thirty, you know,
(08:43):
eight hundred page manual to figure out how to charge it,
it's like, come on, man.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Android users are the first to tell you how great
they are.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Of course, yeah, it's what's are front of them cameras,
camera so much better. And Android's been doing that for
you know, you'll show off some new feature on the iPhone.
My Android's been doing that for six years. It's like, okay, dude.
Twenty one percent of iPhone users admit they have excluded
(09:13):
someone someone from a group chat because they had an Android.
Oh yeah, as.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Soon as those green bubbles pop up, that's it.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Sixty two percent of those out there say Android users
say they have been teased or made fun of by
an iPhone user before. Forty two percent of iPhone users
have used a separate third party messaging program like What'sapp
to accommodate their pathetic Android using friends, and thirty percent
of Android users have thought about getting an iPhone just
(09:46):
to stop the peer pressure.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
You ever had an Android user ask you for a charger?
Speaker 1 (09:52):
No, no, but I've charged it. But I've tried to
find a phone charger and all that was around was Android.
I'm like, ah, you suck. I wonder what the percentage is?
I should google that, Like, what percentage of people use
iPhone versus Android? Well, percentage are iPhone users? Wow? Sixty
(10:20):
sixty percent. Apple remains the most popular smartphone brand in
the US by a large margin, market share of about
sixty percent. More than half of all smartphone users use
an iPhone.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
That seems surprisingly low.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
The biggest competitor, Samsung, has a market share of about
twenty percent. Wow.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
Do you know anybody with a Samsung M couple?
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Couple people? Yeah, yeah, my mother still has one. Drives
me crazy. She's always bitching about it, and like I said,
stupid phone, get rid of it. It's junk.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
I want to bring the razor back.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
I wouldn't mind a razor. I wouldn't mind one of
those old flip phones where that's all you can do.
What college? There's a university? Ah was it one of
the big Christian universities. I can't recall, but I thought
when I heard it on the news, I thought, it's
not a bad idea. When they show up in the
(11:17):
fall for the semester, they have to turn in their
smartphone and they are given a flip phone to use
while they're at school, and it's to keep them from,
you know, wasting all that time on a smartphone. There
are times I've thought about, like it about going to
(11:38):
flip phone route, but it's like.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Then you'd be the guy with the flipa well, and
you can't.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
You know. It's like to keep up with everything and everyone.
It's like to use ways, you know, for directions, to
use Venmo, to pay someone to me, there's so many
things we're just we're t.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Get into your computer to do yes right thing job
related right.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
We have to have the smartphone for the authorization. You're
kind of tied to it. There's no way to escape it.
Really until I pull a juhatsu, then things are gonna change.
Am I saying that?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Right?
Speaker 1 (12:14):
I don't remember if we I think I think that
was I think it was juhatsu. Right, that's the Japanese
term for people that just disappear willfully. They do it
on their own, or so they say, they choose to
just disappear.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
So think we ever had confirmation that the choosing was accurate.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Well, I'll let you know when I when I jewhatsu,
I'll send you guys a secret message somehow and just
say it's cool, man, I did it. I'm out here.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Blink twice. They're forcing you to say that.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
No, we'll be in a cabin on a lake in
the mountain somewhere. All right, it is seven thirteen. We'll
take care of some business here. Zach Selby coming up
at eight o'clock this morning. On DC's Classic Rockets Big
one hundred, DC's Class Crocket. It's a Big one hundred.
I got a text from Android user. Sorry, I can't
(13:08):
read the whole thing because you're on a stupid Android.
Please this uh I have to one hundred percent, well
maybe one or two exceptions agree with this list. That
just came out of the top Southern rock songs of
all time off the top of your head. If you
(13:30):
had to pick your favorite southern rock song, what would
it be?
Speaker 5 (13:34):
Me?
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Yeah, sweet Home Alabama.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Yeah, that's definitely tops right. I would have said Whipping
Post by the Almand Brothers, and it's number one, Like
really here, I thought Whipping Post was kind of a
an acquired taste, kind of something that not a lot
of people listen to. But yeah, yeah, right, yeah, same.
(13:57):
But I love that song, Whipping Post. What a great
blue song, little bluesy southern jam. Oh love it? Top
ten in at number ten, Simple Man by SKINNERD. SKINNERD
and the Almond Brothers, by the way, just dominate this list. Sure,
Simple Man, Skinnered number nine, Give Me Three Steps Skinnered
number eight, Can't See by the Marshall Tucker Band. That
(14:20):
is a great song. Number seven another great one. Dixie
Chicken by Little Feet number six. Lagrange is easy top
Is that Southern rock? What's that?
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Lagrange?
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Sure? A little band from Texas? Well, yeah, I know
Texas pretty far south. I don't know if you've looked
at it.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
I understand the geography, I just don't. I don't associate
lagrange with southern rock.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Yeah, I kind of do bluesy southern Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
I love it more blues than rambling Man.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Almand Brothers in at number five, Midnight Rider that's Greg
Almond solo and at number four Sweet Home Alabama number three,
Free Bird number two two, and Weidpeen Post by the
Almond Brothers band is number one. There are a few
on here or that are not on here that I
(15:13):
was a little bummed about dreams I'll Never See. Dreams
I'll Never See by Molly Hatchett, I think is one
of the greatest songs ever. And that's originally an Almond
Brothers song, and Molly Hatchett's cover I think is better
than the original, without a doubt it is. That is
just seven minutes of genius Molly Hatchett's Dreams I'll Never See.
(15:37):
What else? There was another one I thought of this morning.
I'm like, why is that not on there? I mean
you got some thirty eight special tunes, you know, they
could have made the list. I think of like Blackfoot
Train Train. It was a great song, but probably not
top ten. I feel like something's missing there, Skinnered, Almond Brothers,
(16:02):
Marshall Tucker Band. There's definitely a slight to Molly Hatchett here,
because Molly Hatchett should absolutely be on here. That was
my first concert. I was saying that my first real concert,
like by myself, go to a concert, real concert experience
(16:22):
was def Leppard and Quiet Riot back in the day.
But we were at Carowin's Amusement Park, which is in Carolina,
North Carolina. My grandparents had taken me when I was
a kid, and Molly Hatchett was playing, so we got
to swing by and watch a little bit of that,
and that was I guess technically my first concert, that
(16:45):
little bit of Molly Hatchett. I love Molly Hatchett Man
great band. Oh look there's more. Let me see. Maybe
it'll refresh my memory on what I'm missing. Thirty eight
Special is on here a few times or just further down,
and there is Blackfoot Train Train not in the top ten.
Lots of Skinnered, you got some Hank Williams Junior on here.
(17:06):
All is right in the world with Hank Williams Junior.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
George's satellites, Keep your hands to yourself.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Yeah, Black Crows are on here.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
What was Georgia Satellites other song? It doesn't keep They
had two hits.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Yeah, it doesn't matter though, that's the only one that matters.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Battleship Chains, Battleship Chains, Kings of Leon is.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
On here, and uh, who else? Let's see more Zzy Top, Yeah,
the Outlaws. That's that was probably one of the ones
I was thinking of in the back of my head.
Green Grass and High Tides from the Outlaws. What a
great song. More Black Crows, More Skinnered. Skinner just dominates
this list between skinnerd zz Top and the Alman Brothers band,
(17:48):
It's like every other song they do. Give Molly Hatchet
a number twelve spot for Flirting with Disaster, which is
pretty cool. Black in at number eleven, and then we
get into the top ten, which already shared with you there.
So if you think something should be on this list,
let me know. We'll make our own. We'll make our
(18:10):
own list the real top fifty Southern rock songs. Although
this is pretty accurate, pretty close seven nine. It is
DC's classic rock. Let's give you a letter for the
Big Word of the week.
Speaker 6 (18:24):
The Big word of the Week on Big One hundred.
Today's letter is the letter R. The letter R is
in radio, the letter R.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
All right. At the end of the week, its spells
word no the word win the prize TSO tickets up
for grabs on Friday morning. It is DC's Classic Rock,
Big one hundred, DC's Classic Rock. It's a big one.
That's Pig Floyd. Somebody called in pointed out that Steve
ree Ray Vaughan was not on that list. That's a major.
(18:58):
That whole list goes on the garbage now can't do
the top thirty five Southern rock songs not include Steve
or Yvonne quite possibly the greatest guitar player to ever lived.
We were just talking about him a couple of weeks ago,
were we were. I'd watched that documentary on Stevie, and
it was just it was so sad that he had
really just kind of pulled it all together right before
(19:19):
that Chopper crash when he died, because you know, he
had a big, big drug and alcohol problem, and he's
talking about his nose being so jacked up from so
much coke that he started just dumping it in his
whiskey and drinking it. Stevie was hardcore, but he got
clean and was playing some of the best music he'd
(19:41):
ever played in his life and was just killing it
and then died in that chopper crash. That's sad man.
I still remember that. That was terrible. It is seven
thirty nine DC's Classic Crocket's Big one hundred. Coming up,
we will chat with Zach Selby from Commanders dot Com
talk a little Commander's foot ball. Already they have matched
(20:03):
the number only five games in have matched the number
of wins they had the entire season last year. Team
looks really, really good, leading the NFC East, probably one
of the best teams in the NFC right now. And
Jaden Daniels is not, you know, only in the conversation
for Rookie of the Year, but in the conversation for
(20:27):
top quarterback in the league right now. I mean, kid
is just killing it. So that's still early ish, so
we'll see what happens. Adam Peters will be on the
show general manager of the Commanders this Friday. We will
chat with LeVar Arrington tomorrow and Mike Florio on Thursday.
It is DC's Classic Crock Big one hundred, DC's Class
(20:49):
Crock's Big one hundred and joining Saw on the show
Zach Zelby from Commanders dot Com, presented by dash In. Zach,
how are you this morning?
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Do great? Hey?
Speaker 5 (21:02):
We wake up four and one. Uh, you feel good
about most everything?
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Right.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
Food tastes the macula, The air just feels fresh, like you're.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
You're living You're living a high life.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
Uh, in ways that I had not experienced in what's
now been covering this team.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Uh. And don't want to stop.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Honestly, big test this week, but I think they've got
a good chance of passing it.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Yeah. Yeah, Well I'll tell you what tastes really good
is those cookies you drop by. Hey, you got to
you got a talent there, Zach. I'm not gonna lie.
You're pretty good.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Yeah. First of all, I appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (21:37):
And you know it's my reputation has been told to
me a couple of times before, so it's not like
if I'm unaware of this. But I have to stay
humble and I have to I have to let you
stay in first and then like that, thank you.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Yeah, but you guys really liked him. I like him
a lot. Anytime you want more, you know where to find.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Oh yeah, well, like a little crack dealer here it's
like the first taste is free after that. And I
love how you're like, oh, yeah, I know, they're good.
So we are up to the same number of wins
five games in that we had the entire season last year,
(22:20):
and that is saying something. I'm looking at the schedule
here and it is I mean, it's feasible they could
be like seven and two, eight and one, nine games in.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
It's it's definitely possible.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
But I think they have to focus on this Sunday,
which is I think the biggest tests they've had all year.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Not just that the Ravens are just you know, they have.
Speaker 5 (22:45):
One of the best offenses, you know, really solid defense,
but the reputation of the Ravens is something that's been
well established now for about a decade now.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
They're they're not.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Just playoff attended the Super Bowl hopefuls every year. Lamarch
Axent is you know an NDP caliber player. That Derrick
Henry is a future Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
I don't care what anybody said.
Speaker 5 (23:07):
The guys a future Hall of Famer in my book,
oh yeah, and can still bust it. Uh. And so
that fan base is going to be rabid on Sunday
because they they hear all the things about what the
national media is saying about the Commanders, and I guarantee
you they will be wanting to be the team to
knock them off.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Uh, And so that's gonna be really tough.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
But I think I think they've shown the Commanders have
that they can they can run with just about anybody.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
And it's it's the thing.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
If they win on Sunday, it's gonna be a big statement,
not just to to to the state of Maryland, but
to the entire league that this team is is you know,
could be destined for something way bigger.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Yeah, that's I was actually saying that yesterday that that
is going to be the big test, and if they
pull it off, we're looking at something entirely different than
what I thought we'd be looking at at the beginning
of the sea. Like I I, you know, I expected
to see improvements. I expected a turnaround. But I feel
(24:06):
like they have exceeded our expectations.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Oh yeah, yeah, they absolutely have.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
You know, I it's hard to say, hard to place
what my expectations were because I could see that the
pieces in place, but you obviously got to see the
results in the field.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
But I mean I didn't.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
They didn't know if we were going to to to
equal our win told from twenty twenty three in in
five games like that, I think that would that would
That's just a tremendous accomplishment, I think.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
And it's not just like saying.
Speaker 5 (24:35):
Oh, we're in a rebuild here were you have to
think maybe like they're they're like I said, they they've
got other plans in mind. And I mean the defense
is coming along at a much better clip over the
last couple of weeks. I think that's been one of
my favorite things to watch over the last four days
or so. But the offense is the top five unit
right now. They're running game is second in the league.
(24:57):
Like they're scoring points at a clip that's not been
seen in Washington, I mean decades. So it's it's it's
it's not hard to see why the fan base is
so exciting, why the league is talking about them, because
they're they're the surprise.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Of the of the year right now.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
I mean with Jay Danis performing at you know, some
putting up some really elite numbers here as a rookie,
and that's that's really exciting too. And you just see
it all being sustainable too, which is very, very very encouraging.
So yeah, I think like they've they've got a lot.
I think they've got a lot really bright future for them,
not just this year, which I think is still possible,
(25:34):
but in years to come because of what what Jaden
can do and what this Austin can do is well yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Yeah, And and like you said, the defense has come alive.
Seven sacks in that game against against the Browns, and
you know, watching the combination the duo of Frankie Luv
and Bobby Wagner is something else. Man. I think they
had thirteen tackles and like four sacks between the two
of them. It's just amazing. Like it amazing because going
(26:03):
into the season, I think that was my biggest concern
was defense, and they have really stepped up.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
They have. They have, Yeah, and I think a lot
I think, you know, true, Yeah, the Cleveland Browns were
struggling offense, but you know, the Carters were at the
time considered a very legit group and or the less people.
They've got twelve sacks or eleven sacks, yeah, which is
I mean, they've risen from near the bottom of sack
totals to I mean, I think almost like top ten.
(26:35):
And I think that's really what's been the key to
this unlocked this team, this defense so far as they've
finally been able to finish, they've finally been able to
execute their pass rushing away.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
That's being able to get quarterbacks on the ground.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
Could you saw in the first three weeks or so
that they were getting there, It's just they weren't able
to finish the play. They weren't able to get Baker
Mayfield and Joe Burrow and even Daniel Jones on the ground.
But now they're starting to work together, and you're right,
Frankie Lulin brought Bobby Wider has been been the best
linebacker doing Lee or one of them over the last
(27:08):
couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
And they compliment each other so well.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
You've got a guy and Bobby who is so established,
so experienced, has the knowledge, and then you got Frankie
is just an athletic freak and make can make all
these plays and coverage as a pass rusher. They compliment
each other so well, and I think I think that
they're part of the big reason why the Dee.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Has been performing.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
So it's such a such.
Speaker 5 (27:30):
A higher rate because they are finally getting more comfortable
in what they're doing, and they're getting confidence as well,
and it's just infectious because like their leadership, their energy,
the entire group feeds off of them. I don't know
if you saw that video, uh from the locker room
whenever Luke got the game ball, but you saw his
mate the teammates were just so excited for him, and
he was. He didn't he didn't put a pension on himself.
(27:52):
He celebrated with his team. It's because he got a
game ball and that was just that just exemplflies what
this team is about right now.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Yeah, and watching that confidence build is just huge because
it plays a major role in how you know, they
get out there on the field and play. And when
you see this confidence building, you see him just running,
you know, they're they're getting to the ball, they're just
they're just playing good football. And it's fun to watch.
(28:19):
And I love watching Jade and Daniels as he continues
to well, he continues to impress. I'm just blown away
as a rookie by the poise and and how calm
he is and how even when he screws even that interception,
you know, it's like he just bounces right back from
(28:40):
it like it's no big deal. And he's always laughing,
he's always smiling, he's out there having a good time,
and uh, just not what you'd expect to see from
a rookie.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
No, And you know, I think a lot of people
have said that that Jaden's performance on Sunday was not
as good as as we would expect. But just to
show the son of time to put it three hundred
and twenty yards of offense with a touchdown, right, and
we're saying that is not his best day, that that's
kind of performances that you would love to see from
her quarterback in year, from Washington quarterback in the years past.
(29:11):
But you're right, like, and you notice a trend, like
he throw his first interception against the Cardinals, he leads
them on to score a touchdown, Like I think, I like.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
The next drive.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
Ye.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
He he doesn't get a touchdown next drive against the Browns,
but he does lead them on to you know, thirty
four points and without really much of a.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Really much of a mistake after that.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (29:32):
So that's so that's so encouraging to see from from
a rookie quarterback.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Is that you know, everyone talks about.
Speaker 5 (29:37):
Learning from the mistakes and applying that and and making
sure that you're able to do all this stuff on
the field.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
But he's actually like he's living it and he's taught.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
He's not he doesn't he's not just talking about as
being about it, And that is just that just shows
like maturity and veteran leadership, like beyond a rookie, Like
I don't think you can see a lot of veterans
who were able to implement a lot of the a
lot of the can do us that that that Jays
be able to perform right now. And you know, you
don't want to be hyperbolic, but at some point, it's
(30:06):
like you're just you. You just can't deny what you're
seeing on the field, and it's it's it's really special
stuff from.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Him, really special.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Yeah. Absolutely so, do we have any updates on the
DeVante Adams thing that's going around?
Speaker 5 (30:23):
You know, if first of all, if I did, if
I did, I would not be able.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
To tell you.
Speaker 5 (30:30):
Second of all, I I just like as far as
like the trade deadline stuff goes, like, I don't I
wonder like how active or inactive they would be, because
my my opinion is like say, like if they if
they go really well and they're you know, well, one
or two losses at the time of the trade deadline, Like,
do you really want to like add or take away
(30:51):
some kind of some some part of that formula.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
I don't. I don't think so nothing nothing major at
least now.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
Like obviously Devandia Adams is a great player, but I
think this often is really proven that they are. They
are just fine right now, Like I mean, they're they're
like I said, they're top five year their second in
the league in rushing yards, Like they have the most
rushing testowns in the NFL. Like they're doing really great
stuff on their own, So like.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Could they cause that? See that?
Speaker 5 (31:15):
I don't even think they could be sellers either, because
if you if it's like, if the defense is performing
really well, do you really want to take something away
from her formulas working? I don't think so either, Right, So,
I I really do think not like to see them
do something like sure, like of course, because that appears
that he's proven himself to be like smart enough to handle.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
All this stuff. But I just I think it's a
wait and see situation.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
But either way, I don't know if I see anything
super major because I think it takes away from like
what they've established about like building to the draft and
if you're going to make a major move that requires
giving up draft capital, and they have shown they they
really put a hot lot of value on their draft picks.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
You know a fun fact about Adam Peters, Uh, he
wears the same lucky pair of underwear every game day.
Din't you know that?
Speaker 2 (32:03):
You know? I did not. I did not know that that.
That is fantastic.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
We learned that last week, Yeah, talking to him, which
I thought was hilarious. So what are the keys to
the game when it comes to playing the Ravens. What
do they have to do to put on a solid
performance and try to win that game?
Speaker 5 (32:21):
Well, I think the first one has to be you
have to stop Derrick Henry or in some way, right,
I mean, he's thirty years old, but at the same time,
he's a six foot four to two hundred and fifty
pound monster who is going to be able to still.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Run over everybody and run fast.
Speaker 5 (32:37):
I mean, I don't know if you saw that that
that Russian testdown, he had a couple of weeks still
where he was hitting like like twenty plus miles per
hour like he he's booking it, so he still has
that seas now, like they have performed better the defense
in terms of stopping the run over the last you know,
a couple of weeks. So now, granted, like they did
they didn't let the rushing yards get behind them in
(32:57):
the second half of those games because they were up
so much and all that other stuff.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
But when they're when they're determined, they can definitely stop
the run. Uh. But Derrick Henry is a different kind
of animal. Uh, So that's gonna be a big key
for them.
Speaker 5 (33:08):
I think the other thing two is Lamar Jackson, Like
you're gonna have to You're gonna have to maybe not
get him on the ground as much, but you got
to keep him in the pocket as much as him.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Because as good as a as good of a.
Speaker 5 (33:18):
Pocket presence of and he is great. Uh, he really
will break your back with his legs, and you don't
you don't want that at all. You know, They've got
plenty of experience doing that the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (33:29):
But again, Lamar Jackson is a unique specimen in the
history of the NFL. And I think on the on offense,
you have to take advantage of every scoring opportunity because
this Ravens offense is elite and they will they they.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Will, they will hang twenty one on you really easily.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
He has to be able to keep up with that
not to put too much pressure on your defense, and
Washington's offense, to their credit, has shown that they are
capable of doing that.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
But again, like this Ravens defense is.
Speaker 5 (33:56):
Gonna be very, very motivated to try to you know,
expose quote unquote Washington in any way they can. And
it's like I said, it's going to be a tough test,
but I think I think Washington.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Has the tools and the motivation to get it done.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Yeah, I actually surprisingly feel pretty good about it. So
we'll see what happens. And you know, you're talking about
keeping Lamar in the pocket, but it's like, guess what,
You're gotta do the same thing to Jaden or he
will hurt you with his legs, which is a It's
a wonderful thing to be able to say something like that, Zach.
(34:29):
I appreciate the time as always, man, And you know,
anytime you feel like sending more cookies, will eat them. Yeah,
I'll let.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
My people talk to your people. We'll figure it.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Out, okay, Zach Selby Commanders dot Com. I appreciate it, buddy.
We'll talk to you again next week. All right. I
have a great day. That is Power Today by dash In.
It's DC's Classic Rock, Big one hundred, DC's Classic Rock.
It's Big one hundred Summer sixty nine is Brian Adams.
Dennison was sports on tapping just a bit here, and
(35:02):
we have tickets to give away for Brett Michaels coming
up before nine o'clock time for Florida Man, Florida Man.
There's not a whole lot to this story other than
I love the headline. Police arrest South Florida man on
(35:26):
LSD charged with tackling Disney World guard. Hey, so can
you imagine going to Disney World on aciding on a
loosen a gin like some place like Disney World. I
don't know about that. South Florida man admitted to being
(35:49):
on LSD when he was arrested after authority say he
tackled a Walt Disney security guard. He was pled not
guilty to a charge battery on a uniform security guard
and has asked for a jury trial. The arrest report
says he tackled the uniformed guard from behind put him
(36:11):
in a headlock. While the guard was making his rounds
at Animal Kingdom last month, park Guest pulled arvidd off
the guard, who then managed to radio for help. The
guard was okay, treated for a scraped elbow. But I
want the rest of the story. You want it, Like
(36:33):
this dude's tripping and I want to know what he
thought he was doing. It's always that's always the best part.
That was a dragon and I had to take him out,
a fire breathing dragon. But unfortunately there's not much more
to the story. Hopefully more will develop when he gets
(36:56):
to his jury trial. It's really interesting. You ever done
a loocino gym? I did once, Yeah, like back in
the day.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
Yeah, back in the day.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
And it was that.
Speaker 7 (37:10):
It was in San Francisco. Oh wow, yeah at Fisherman.
You weren't playing around, you were going to do it.
You went right to the source. Yes, sir, you're not
saying you were on like height and Ashberry or something.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
What what was it?
Speaker 8 (37:26):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (37:27):
Acid?
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Acid?
Speaker 5 (37:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (37:30):
That was good, was it?
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (37:33):
I'm only some have ever done it though. Yeah, it's
not that I don't want to do drugs. It's just
I'm not good at sane sane.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
That no better way to describe it. I am not
good at them. And years and years ago, this hippie
came up to me at like this reggae show on
the side of a mountain in Colorado, and you know,
he's passing out hits acid and of course I don't
really want to do it, so I'm just like, oh,
thanks man, and I took it and you know, started
(38:02):
to put it in my pocket. He goes, oh no, no, no, no, no.
He's like, you take it or you give it back.
Like there's all this peer pressure in all these people
around me, and everybody put the damn thing in their mouth.
And I was like, all right, fine, So that was
an interesting day. Yeah, that's a very interesting day. I
(38:22):
will say. The most fascinating part of it, and that
was probably the only time for me, the most fascinating
part of it was I am mostly color blind, right,
so I can see colors, I can see red, I
can see green. I have I have a lot of
difficulty with shades of colors right, right, So I could
(38:45):
have like a navy blue shirt and for five years
I'll think it's black. Or I could have something that's
purple and I'll think a ton of difficulty with shades.
When I did that, I saw colors for the first
time I did. I saw like vivid colors to where
(39:07):
I was like, holy crap, is this how everybody sees
I really feel left out. The grass was green, the
sky was blue. Yeah, that's that's what I remember about
it that night. Remember at some point during the day
going Okay, I'm done now, and it said, no, you're not.
(39:30):
We got six more hours of.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
The You remember it lasting a lot, And I remember
being in one of those saltwater taffy shops. Yeah, you
know where they had the taffy in the window on
the thing that's just spinning it around.
Speaker 6 (39:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
I remember looking at that, staring at that. It was
the greatest thing I'd ever seen.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
Yeah, yeah, that's I remember the colors, and I remember
just the whole like I want to be done now,
and it was like, no, that's not gonna happen anytime soon.
Oh well, that was the first and the last time.
It is eight thirty one. DC's Classic Rock. It's big
(40:07):
one hundred, DC's Classic Crock. It's a big one. It's
Billy Joel, my brother's a Steelers fan. I was telling
him how disappointed I was in his team for not
taking care of the Cowboys. That was a good football game.
I didn't watch it was it. It was good.
Speaker 8 (40:24):
Cowboys won by three, right, Yeah, I think I was
twenty seventeen. But you know what, they picked Claude to
win that game on the railway. And listen, it is
hard to win in Pittsburgh. And while that is in
Steeler teams of the past, it's just so hard to
win in Pittsburgh because Tomlin's coaching, and Tomlin's a great coach.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
But uh, it wasn't great enough to win.
Speaker 8 (40:43):
They got a weird quarterback situation there because you know,
Russell Wilson's banged up justin fields is really not ready
for prime time what so it's just it's a weird thing.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
What is the deal with Wilson is he he's injured?
He can't play it all.
Speaker 8 (40:58):
He's got a calf injury apparently out and also a
gigantic ego problem.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
Well we knew that. Do you think he'll he'll play
when he's better? No, I really don't think they. I
think they will.
Speaker 8 (41:12):
I think this was always going to be the plan anyways, eventually,
I just think it came a lot sooner than they
probably had wanted it to.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
And do you think Russell knew I'm on my way
to be a backup? No? No, not with that ego,
Absolutely not No.
Speaker 8 (41:26):
But I got to tell you this is such a
cautionary tale because of the ten years he was with
the Seahawks and going to two Super Bowls and having
all the accolades, marrying Sierra Da Da Da da Da.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
I mean, it's a really great.
Speaker 8 (41:36):
Life that it be careful what you wish for, because
for people don't know, I'll tell this quick story. Allegedly
he went to ownership in Seattle and said, I want
both the head coach and the GM fired. They're awful people.
I want to run this team. And they got him
on the next bus out of there to Denver for
(41:56):
probably the biggest heist in NFL, his of draft picks
some players. And then you saw what happened in Denver
because Denver gave him everything and it went over like
a lead balloon. You think he's done, or you think
he's I think he's pretty close to being done. I
really do you know what hit me?
Speaker 1 (42:13):
Like a brick last night. I had no idea that
Travis Kelcey was thirty five years old. Yeah, I know,
I know. I was blown away by that shape. Yeah.
I thought the announcer screwed up, like he's not he's
twenty five.
Speaker 8 (42:29):
Travis Kelsey's not five child. Yeah, that's that's that's up
there for the NFL. Well, yeah, especially for a Titan
getting hit as.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
Hard as you do as a tight Yeah. Yeah, wow, I.
Speaker 8 (42:39):
Know that's impressive. It is Brandon. He's a Hall of Famer,
by the way. That's a first ballad right there. I
wonder if this will be his last season, though, to
be honest with.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
You, I think it will.
Speaker 8 (42:49):
In fact, I can almost guarantee it if they win
the Super Bowl or go to the Super Bowl. I
bet he's done. I bet he's done. He's done everything.
What else are you gonna do? It's time to marry
Taylor fifties, It's time and Mary Taylor, let's get it.
Speaker 1 (43:03):
Let's get it going on that he's the Casey still
just finds a way to win. Well, it's a different
team too.
Speaker 8 (43:10):
They're not like they used to be a couple of
years ago, where they had all these billion weapons and
Mahomes was nuts. They're having to scrape and claw themselves. Yeah,
but there's still a superior team. And listen, I am
going to tell you something about coaching, and you're watching
in here with Dan Quinn. Yeah, if you get an
exemplary coach and if you have some good players like
both of our.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
Teams do, you will succeed in the NFL.
Speaker 8 (43:31):
Sure you will. And that's what's happening in Kansas City,
and that's what's happening here right now. Speaking of the Commanders,
I know you're a degenerate gambler.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
Now, yes, of course.
Speaker 8 (43:39):
Right now in DraftKings, the odds are if you'd like
to bet on the Commanders, you get six and a
half points right now. Okay, I'll take and Baltimore one
o'clock kickoff this Sunday, the over under, which is very interesting.
I think it's gonna be a lot of points. Here's
fifty two point five and it's been rising by the
way too really, and then the money line has the
Commanders of plus two thirty five and the Baltimore that
(44:00):
minus two to ninety. So Vegas really thinks that the
Baltimore Ravens are gonna kick our butts.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Yeah, huh, what are your thoughts on that game?
Speaker 2 (44:09):
Boy?
Speaker 8 (44:10):
I just tell you it's it's right now, six and
a half. I would take the Commanders. Give me those points, man, Yeah,
because I think it's gonna be a close football game.
I don't know if we're gonna win. I'd love to
see that. Baltimore is really unbelievable at home and by
the way, Lamar Jackson's unbelievable against NFC teams. It's a
it's a ridiculous record. I think Baltimore edges out on
(44:31):
this game. But if I'm gambling on this, give me
the six and a half points, I'll go.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
Can I point out that you have said that the
last three games that you have said, I don't know,
I think the Commanders are gonna get beat and I
keep saying, well, not beat bat But you you have
said the last like two or three games that you
thought the other team was gonna squeak it out. Yeah,
and dead wrong, You're dead wrong. Yeah, I'm gonna take
(44:57):
the Commanders. Well, I think I'm leaning to Oh as
far as winning out right, I'm taking winning out right.
Speaker 8 (45:02):
I'm taking money line. Yeah, Okay, that's fine, but like
that's fine. A couple you want a little money this year,
haven't you put a couple grand on that?
Speaker 1 (45:10):
Okay?
Speaker 8 (45:11):
No, missus Jackson know about this. No, No, have Morning
DJ money that might be coming in.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
You know, I've told you. I start the weekend, I
place my bets and uh, I'll usually by Sunday evening
I'm up a little bit, I feel good, and then
I always bet on a Monday game and then by
the time you know, Tuesday morning rolls around, I'm right
back where I started. Now, that's the way Vegas wants you. Well,
it could be worse. I mean, it could be losing,
(45:39):
but I just keep breaking even.
Speaker 8 (45:41):
That's where they want you. They want you to keep
on betting, my friend betting. But that's a lot of points,
six and a half, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (45:49):
And I think and remember the Commanders I believe were
the highest scoring team in the NFL right now, aren't they?
Speaker 1 (45:54):
I think so? So fifty two and a half points.
Speaker 8 (45:56):
That means that they think it's going to be like
a I don't know, a a thirty twenty three score
somewhere around there kind of game. That and that's a
lot of points. But watching Baltimore and since he this
past weekend, I think it was thirty eight, thirty eight
going into overtime. So listen, Baltimore went to overtime with Cincinnati. Yeah, right, Yeah,
(46:17):
we didn't have that problem.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
No, no, we did not. Now I know it's it's
in Sincy by the way, too, but still I look
at stuff like that and go.
Speaker 8 (46:25):
Now, I will tell you in that since he game,
since he's a desperate team. Yeah, and and Burrow was
trying to just get on track and win a football.
Speaker 1 (46:32):
Kind of feel bad for Burrow because he is good.
He's not having a great well. They've had some drama
with the wide receivers. That's number one and number two.
They've always been slow starters. And number three he's usually
banged up in training camp just about every year, which
is not helpful in the first four to six games
of the year. But he's a hell of quarterback. Yeah
(46:55):
for sure.
Speaker 8 (46:55):
But you know, we are seeing Lamar Jackson probably in
his prime right now. Again, somebody who looks really similar
to him is just starting his career. And that's going
to be the fun dichotomy of this too, because they are,
by the way, they're almost exactly the same in size.
They're both six four, they're both about two o five.
They both sling the ball with these they both run effortlessly.
(47:15):
They're both incredible athletes, have great vision. Don't panic. I'm
just thrilled to be watching this game. I hope most
of the nation gets to watch it. And I will
tell you this, if the Commanders do win this game,
and I really hope they do because they're on fire
right now, if they do, they will get so much
friggin' national attention and be on the map for everybody.
I think it changes everything for this well, and I'm
(47:37):
not even concerned about the attention. Here's the deal.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
I'm just saying.
Speaker 8 (47:39):
I think they will get some incredible respect from the
NFL they beat the Ravens in Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
If they beat the Ravens, that to me is going
to go holy craptist. Team's for real. You're looking well,
I think they're already for real.
Speaker 8 (47:51):
Different like winning championship, nfcast, stunning the rounds of the playoffs. Yeah,
and then don't forget we got Carolina in and after that.
Now everybody say, hey, that's a trap game.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
You're at home.
Speaker 8 (48:03):
It's not a good football team. I think we can
decimate the Panthers. But listen, we've always talked about anybody
can beat anybody in any given day. But listen, if
we happen to pull off the Ravens and then Carolina
comes to town, things things are looking up.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
List get ahead of ourselves here, Dennis, one game at
a time.
Speaker 8 (48:21):
My gosh said that on your show, Adam Peter show
you to shut up and stop moving forward.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
He pretty much did Jackson, shut your mouth. He's like
Jackson was a quote I think he said. He was
like Jackson, we're four games?
Speaker 8 (48:39):
Yeah, down it breaks cowboy?
Speaker 2 (48:43):
All right?
Speaker 1 (48:43):
All right, thank you Dennis, Yeah you too. Let's give
away some tickets for Brett Michaels. What have we learned
on the show today? What do we got?
Speaker 3 (48:52):
Florida man on LSD was arrested after he tackled something.
Speaker 1 (48:56):
Yes, there you go on four nine three one double
ow three. Good luck from Big one hundred DC's Classic
Rockets Big one hundred nless say if we can get
a winner here on what have we learned on the
show today? We'll go to the phones. Hi, who's this?
