Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's now time for kickoff.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
They have done it two out of the last three years.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
The Crusaders pour.
Speaker 4 (00:07):
Out onto the field.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
There the twenty twenty four PIAA five Eggs State.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Champions Cruz Sader Football is brought to you by Constellation Energy,
Tim Decker of Green Spring Advisors and Select Physical Therapy. Now,
let's head out to the field with your game announcers
Art Selby, Rob Paglie and Marty Bowman.
Speaker 5 (00:29):
Well, Art Zelby's not goodness this weekend, but we're ready
for kickoff. Ter Clippers dicking off the Bishopic Devin. The
ball is taken around the five yarrog line and he's
up the middle, breaks to the right side. He's up
the hashmark. Oh, he gets a block. He is down
to the fifty to forty five to forty the thirty.
He's all the way down inside the ten yard line
(00:51):
before he's driven out of bounce. But hold it. It
looks like there's a flag. What do we have here, guys?
Speaker 4 (00:58):
It looks like a hold against mcdebon the Cedarcliff squibbed
it went to the up backs. It was actually Johnta
Quick on the return. Just like last week. He returned
that thing JC about sixty five yards, like you said,
down to about the ten, but the hole brings it
back to the mcdebit thirty five.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
I mean, at least the flag came out early, so
it wasn't something it was thrown out late. It did
come out early, but it was a tough break for
the Crusaders.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
So Mission V demon sets up on the thirty five
yard line, two backs in the backfield. Sebastian hands off
off the right tackle, probably up over at about the
thirty one thirty two yard line there.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
That was a Nazir Jones Davis. As you said, they
have two backs Jones Davis and Barnes beside Sebastian Williams
there and he went behind the right guard, picked up
about two out to the thirty seven.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
And I see somebody limping off for the Crusaders on
the sideline.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
That was I'm just trying to see through my knockers.
That was an Azer j O Davis, and not a
good sign. He's just coming back from that ankle and
he limps off after one carry.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
All right, second in about eight for the Crusaders. Sebastian
takes a two step drop looking for a receiver throws
out to the left side, hits his man at about
the forty five forty six yard line. That looks like
that's number eighteen. Is that Gauge's root, Yes, sir, gotta
be raising.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
He has soft coverage there, giveing Gauge a nice cushion,
and he ran a precise route and as you said,
Sebastian on the money hit him and he was able
to turn up and pick up ten yards.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Credit gauged at a nice job coming back for the football.
He really did a nice job and came back for
it was still able to turn it upfield.
Speaker 5 (02:47):
That's something a lot of receivers have to learn. Go
to the ball. So it's first and ten through the
crusader's hand off up the middle, breaking past forty to forty,
thirty five, thirty, twenty five, twenty fifteen, all the way
to the end zone. That's number seven. That's more. That's
not Maurice Mars, Yes it is okay, Well, I guess
(03:10):
the ankle isn't that bad.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Then, Maurice Barnes Junior getting loose there fifty three yards
nice big hole up the middle, Marty. He went right
between the tackles and made one cut to his left
and see the speed and power.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
And the power in the strength was evident at the
very end round the ten yard line where he shook
off and would be tackler able to keep his balance
and get it in the end zone.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
So the Crusaders lineup for the extra point.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Waiting, girl kicking it for the Crusaders snaps down.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Ball is up and it is good. So at ten
to twenty one left in the first quarter, the Crusaders
have taken the lead. It is seven to nothing. We'll
be back the more first quarter action. You're listening to
Bishop be Devin Football on fourteen sixty Fox Sports Harrysburn.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Today the electricity on a football field. This is fish
and mcdebit football on Fox Sports fourteen sixty that energy.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
After that first ride, they took it right to the house.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
I think Rob would agree with that. They had the
long return on the kickoff that return that got called
back unfortunately, but three later Barnes takes it from fifty
three yards.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Well, we're lined up for kickoff. Marilla was waiting for
the signal and he puts it in play. High kick
down to about the five four yard line where Cedarcliff
takes it up the middle and they are swarmed right
there about it to fifteen fourteen yard line.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
It was number fourteen. Campbell milch senior linebacker, was the
first man in there for mcdebitt. Got a little help
from a freshman number thirty five, Xavier McFarland. But yeah,
the Colts, who are mainly going to rely on the
running game to control the ball, do not want to
be backed up to the sixteen yard line.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Campbell miltchs was almost everywhere in the field last week.
Every time you looked up, you were seeing number fourteen
involved into play.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
He had some big hits last week.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
Landon Howell was all over the place for Cedarcliff last week.
Against ceed East one hundred and thirty yards Russian. In fact,
they fake a bootleg after the right quarterback Rolls was
behind him and was able to get the ball number one,
which is Amurio Auchery and that's the first Actually.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
It's a drop dropped up. Yeah, didn't didn't complete the
catch to the ground.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
I like the play call though, Marty and little misdirection
play face, Yeah, exactly got him on the run rolling out,
got away from Tron Dennis and he had a he
had a big receiver six foot five target coming across,
just he didn't hold on to it.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
I mean, different teams you know that we're going to
be talking about over the years. But that's always been
whether it's a tight end drag or a drag across
the middle like that. As you said, a misdirection always
something that mcdeviit seems to have trouble with you heard.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
You're right.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
So again, Crusader's set up one back in the backfield,
man split wide on each side, and for some reason
the officials are holding up play here. Okay, now we're
ready to go. Man goes in motion from the left
to the right. Now hollow the hand off up the
(07:06):
right side off tackle. Good play picks up about say
three the four yards there, but it's still going to
be a long way to go. We're talking about thirteen
yards at least.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
R J Duffye number thirty one, the Crusader's leading tackler
through three weeks. The senior linebacker made the play there.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
How was he able to do a little stutter step, was
able to look like he was gonna be able to
get it outside, But as you said, Duffy close quickly
before it, you know, went for too much yardage.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
Three men split on the left side, one man in
the backfield, quick pitch up the middle, and nothing doing.
Missim mc DeWitt is all over. It looked like it
was a little pony pass there.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Yeah, RJ Duffy. Again, you didn't even have to look up, Rob.
You knew it was RJ coming from that linebacker spot.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
It was like a little shovel shovel pass and RJ
stayed home and Hal tried to fight through, and then
big Jakai Logan came over to help RJ clean it up.
And uh, minimal gain of three. So it's a third line.
Speaker 5 (08:16):
So big play for the say for the Bishop Chreseder
Cliff right now, excuse me. Three men spent to the
left side to one in the backfield. All the snap,
quarterback drops three steps. He's looking downfield trying to run
a seam route and it was over the head of
number three, the wide receiver that was Isaiah Jones, and
(08:38):
there was good coverage on that play. He did not
have any room at all.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
It was Shaheed Clement, the senior corner who got the
start last week in place of Jamison Crummell who was
banged up. Clements gets a lot of playing time as
as the third corner.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Once again, that what we saw last week a lot
with Chambersburg where maybe the receiver gets a step and
the quarterback has to throw it a little quicker than
what he wants to.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
End that rolls dead. It hits about the forty five,
rolls all the way across the fifty up to about
the forty six yard line. That's where the Crusaders will
have the ball in their own forty six.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Just to start McDevitt, one of guys we talked about
coming out, Barnes energized them. There, defense gets a three
and out and Cedarcliff, you know, they come into in
one last year. Very unusual JC you think of the
Colts as a fixture in the district playoffs. They did
not qualify last year at four and six, so they're
looking to bounce back, and after losing that opener to
(09:43):
their arrival red Land, this is a huge game for
them tonight.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
Crusaders lineup one man on each side, actually two on
the left, one on the right, one in the backfield
with the bashi man comes back to the backfield. Now
we have two in the backfield. Barnes back there, hand
off the number three off the right tackle, and he
almost got away, nice little spin moved there, but the
Crusaders brought him down maybe a yard. Well they're gonna
(10:12):
give him two yards on that.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Yet, number forty two Eightenarius the linebacker they have. But
they have a nice duo in the middle there with
Will Kocher, their leading tackler, and Aiden Arius, and they
flowed quickly to the ball and shut your room down
after only two yards.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
You know, I gotta say, rob When I looked at
the sheets at the beginning of the week at the lineups,
I saw these three eighty or yeah, three eighties from
Senior Cliff on the lineup and saying, man, they got
some big guys, but the Crusaders look like they're bigger.
Definitely quicker. Sebastian two step draft flat out to the
(10:48):
right side, hits his man, shakes off a man, and
a receiver came. I should say the defensive guy came
back from behind on that play and it's a first
down for the Crusaders. They picked up twelve on them
on the pass.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Yeah, that was Ish Palmer number eight. Those quick feet, Marty,
he got hit initially, we kept those feet going and
picked up about three or three more yards.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
I'm gonna clean my glasses here because I swore that
was number eight. But that's not Maurice.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
Oh no, it was Ish Palmer.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
Yep yep. So first and ten hand off on the
left side. Again, that's that sweet play off tackle across
the thirty five up to about the thirty four. That
looked like the similar to the play that they ran
earlier that went down almost inside the ten. And this
one is a pickup of eight yards.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
You have Jerom LaRue Jr. The sophomore who had the
bulk of the carries last week with Jones Davis sidelined
with that angle, and tonight with him going out early.
You'll see Barnes and LaRue pretty much rotating.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Handoff. Sebastian goes to the right, hands off the Barnes
off the right tackle and it's the same play only
the other side. And again the Crusaders pick up Yarnings
out across the thirty out to about the twenty twenty
three yard line. It looks like pick up of eleven.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
I have on that for Barnes yep.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
Twenty two yard line. I'm cutting him short.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Barnes seems to be hitting a hole.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
He is, He's hitting it quick and and and the
holes are large, Let's just put it that way. They
are blowing them off the ball.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Sebastian takes the hand of handoff up the middle, off
to the left sided card and this time the Colts
kind of shut it down. Maybe a pickup of a
couple of yards there. It wasn't a lot of room
to work with.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Big Tray Brown, six pounds senior defensive tackle made the
play there.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Yeah, let's see. It looks like it's second and eight
for the Crusader's ball, just about a tony yard line.
Crusades line up two minutes of the left one to
the right man goes in motion, hand off up the
middle again, this time bouncing out to the outside, around
(13:24):
the right corner, up the sideline and all the way
to the end zone. Did he make it in? Yes,
he did, touchdown, Bishop mcdevon. That was easy. That was smooth.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
What a cut by Jerome LaRue Jr. Jack Dawson the
full back in motion sprung him. But as you said,
Jac he bounced at too the outside and made a
really really nice cut about the fifteen and went down
the sideline and just stretched the ball.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
The cut that he was already at full speed. That's
what impressed me.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
That's the that's the rare quality that makes a truly
great back when you can make a cut like that
and not slow down at all.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
All right, five to eleven left in the first quarter
to bishoping devon lines up for the extra point. Ball
is down, Kicki's up. This one's high and it is good.
So at the score, bishomc demit fourteen Cedarcliff nothing. We'll
be back with more first quarter action. You're listening to
bishopmc devon football on fourteen sixty Fox Sports, Harrysburg. Our
(14:25):
name sponsors. Tim Decker of Greens brig Advisors for presenting
Bishop of Devon Football. Of course he'll be on the
air on our sister station fourteen sixty Fox Sports Harrysburg
tomorrow with Financial Freedom. That'll be at ten am. So
we're lined up for kickoff, ready to go, and our
(14:46):
rele puts his foot into it. Another high kick. This
went down to about the five where it'll be taken
across to ten fifteen and that's it. He got to
the fifteen and he was met by the Crusaders.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Campbell Millis, Campbell Milch and he just absolutely just shed
that block like it wasn't happening, and just stepped around
it almost and made the tackle.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
So it's interesting you have Grelly You're thinking, you know,
he could put that ball in the end zone. But
it looks like these first two kickoffs, Marty, they've opted
to kick it high and right to about the five,
and yeah, maybe they see something and they're confident in
the coverage. And both times Cedar Cliffs started the sixteen
yard line on both of these drives.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
So Cedar Cliff sets up on their own fifteen yard line.
Looks like the wing tee with one man in the
backfield tight ends on both sides. The man goes in motion,
comes back to the middle and stops. And this is
the old look like the quarterback draw and the official
strow flag. Somebody moods before they should. It might have
(15:52):
been the man in motion turned up and started heading
towards the line of scrimmage before the ball was snapped.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
The things that happened and then.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
And they were in a wildcat look there JC on
that play number twenty two land and how the tailback
was in there as a wildcat quarterback on that draw.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
So that moves the ball back to inside the eleven
yard line between the eleven and the ten with the
line up again man in the motion the same formation,
and they try it again back up the middle and
know where to go. If they got the yard, that'll
be a lot. You might get away with that once,
(16:35):
but not twice in a row.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
The defensive tackles there, Chris Thompson and Jakai Logan completely
stuffed that play at the bottom of the pile on RJ.
Duffy and Tyler Renhart also flew in there holding them
to one. I mean the mcdevid is stacking the box. Guys.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
They have all eleven basically in the box here.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
Yeah, they're saying, if you want to be this, you're
gonna have to throw it. They're trying to wide sweep
around the right side and nothing happening. They might have
gotten to the fourteen to fifteen, but once again, that
reminded me of the old Green Bay power sweep. Ye,
everybody go to the right.
Speaker 4 (17:18):
But again, I mean they're just not gonna even with
their size mcdebit is two athletic with the box stacked.
You can see even like RJ. Duffy penetrating again and
Nikhilan Smith, the strong safety, you also went on that tackle.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
So again, this is gonna be third down in about
twelve yards to go. See the cliff needs to get
to about the twenty six yard line. Ball was snapped
the two step drop looking down the middle. This time
a swing passed. It was kind of a shade route
to the wide receiver and really it was in his hands.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
There's a flag down there in the secondary. I'm not
sure what that is though.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
I think they're gonna go with a hold on it. Yeah,
that's what they did.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
It's a defensive hold. I I don't know who that
would have been on.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
I didn't get the number of of who had coverage
on that.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
I mean, Brian Hart was in coverage on the receiver,
but I think.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
That's where the flag went. So I'm gonna assume that's.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Where the coverage or the So it's not an automatic
first down, and so it'll still be third and one.
Speaker 5 (18:30):
Third a little less of one. I was kind of surprised.
Ten yards on the play, okay, so he'll be third
in less than the yard for a Cedar Cliff. They
lighted up two buys in the backfield head. Ah, a
little fake there, Oh my goodness, this is a tip
play caught by the Crusaders heading back the other way.
(18:52):
All the way through the touchdown. They ran a nice
little fake up the middle. They threw the ball to
the wide receiver and he tipped it. We caught it
and it was off to the other way.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
That was Austin Mack for the Crusaders. That was right
there on the interception, bounced off the receivers shoulder pads.
Austin Mack was right there. Nobody able to just touch
him whatsoever. He just takes it into the end.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
Zone thirty yards on their return for Austin Mack. The sophomore.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
That reminded me of the Maryland tip drill that we
used to do in school. They just type it up
and hey, you gotta catch it. So we lined up
for the extra point. Crusaders are lined up ready to go.
(19:42):
Three twenty six left here in the first quarter, high
snap ball is down, kicks up and it is good.
So again as we approached the end of the first quarter,
it's Bishop be Devin twenty one seedar Cliff Nothing. You're
listening to BISHOMC. Devion football here on fourteen sixty Fox
Sports Radio, where I have to tell you that, mister
(20:05):
Devin football is brought to you, and I'm trying to
read this. I guess i need some light here. Well,
we're gonna sign we're gonna do this anyway. Crusaders on
the sideline looking for they're getting some directions while they're
(20:34):
doing that.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Rob, have you been able to find uh Zira Jones
Davis at all?
Speaker 4 (20:40):
Not yet. I'm gonna keep checking though.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
Bishem Debit. Football is brought to you by Select Medical
Select Physical Therapy the Power of physical Therapy with physical
therapy over thirty locations throughout the Mid State. There I
finally read it let's get ready for kickoff. Now, balls
at the forty yard line and this kick is down
(21:18):
to about it goes into the end zone. They let
it hit the ground and it'll be a touchback.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Cedar Cliff just, you cannot come up with a worst
start for them, Mari.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Now you cannot. I was just thinking about that. I mean,
they've had a couple of opportunities with passes downfield quarterback,
as we saw a lot last week with Chambersburg having
to throw the ball a little earlier. What they want
ends up overthrown. And then this one goes off the
shoulder pads and Austin Max Aaron takes it home.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
Scene Cliff sets up balls on the twenty yard line,
two men in the backfield once again, right up the middle,
and Crusaders shut it down. Not as many people in
the box that time.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
No, and that was Maurice Barnes that meant how.
Speaker 5 (22:15):
But they still stuffed it well.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
One of the more positives though for Cedar cliffland that one.
They've see that he got four and they really haven't
had too many positive.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
Plays Crusaders with Shaheed Clement in there at corner of
this series and Patrick Wright number twenty one is in there.
It's safety second down for the Colts.
Speaker 5 (22:41):
Handoff actually fake handoff play action. They throw the ball
out to number eleven, a very very high throw that
they were able to complete.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
That was Bennett Seacrest, the big six, three thirty pounds
end who as you said, he hinting, intentionally put it
up high right where Seacrest could go up and get it.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
And seacrests had to turn and go up and he
did a really great job there. It was a very
athletic catch.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
He's a three year starter.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
Guys, He's one of the guys the coach talked about
in the pregame that they had to stop handoff up
the middle, and this time they get through pick up
another five maybe close to six yards there, about five yards.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
Yeah, that was their nicest run play of the game.
They actually had a hole there and Patrick right number
twenty one just tripped up. How after he picked up
four yards.
Speaker 5 (23:42):
So to be second and five balls at the forty
seven yard line of Cedar Cliff. Second down play as
we wind down less than a minute and a half
in the first quarter, says, take the ball, quarterback, draw
up the middle again and that's the pistol play, and
(24:06):
this time they do get it first down across the
fifty out through about the forty five yard line before
they stop.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
Yeah, they're heavily relying on this wildcat formation with land
and howl and another nice surge by the offensive line, Marty.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
They have found something that they like and they're gonna,
you know, they're gonna keep running it for now and
you can't blame them.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
Yeah, mcdevin has to adjust to it. This is reminiscent
of a few years ago. To remember when Cedar Cliff
pulled this out with Bobby Whalen, who ended up hilling
baseball in Louisville, and they just ran up and down
the field with the wildcat on us.
Speaker 5 (24:41):
So it's first and ten ball in the Bishop mc
demit forty five. They faked the ball, tried to go
down the middle, and it's a squeeze play as the
safety in the quarterback squeeze the wide receiver that was
number two of Cedar Cliff, and they could not make
that happen at all.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Owen Anastasi the six foot senior double coverage. Nice job
there by Akielan Smith and arp right breaking it up.
Austin Master mat Kep.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Yeah, yeah, I know it was double coverage. The ball
was well prone. It would have been a very very
tough catch.
Speaker 5 (25:19):
I think you heard the footsteps on that one side
chose that has the ball hand off up the middle
again at this time another hole and how gets to
about the thirty looks like about the thirty eight yard
line of Bishop mc devitt.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Yeah, another big hole in Zach Brown, number four, senior
linebacker drags him down but seven yards for how that
sets up a very very advantageous third and three.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
It almost looks like a chess match. Either we're gonna
run it or throw. You have to guess which one.
And they're kind of catching if you say this a
little bit. Third down and about four to go, hin
hand off up the middle again, this time nothing happening
as this time the Crusaders were loading the box.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
Yeah, Chris Thompson at the point of attack number fifty
one really stuffed that and it allowed Zach Brown the
knife in there and get howl around the legs. They
gave him about a yard. So it's going to be
fourth and two as we end the first quarter here.
Speaker 5 (26:24):
So with the score Missionvan deviit twenty one Cedar Cliff. Nothing.
We'll be back with more second quarter action. You're listening
to Missipan Debit football on fourteen sixty Fox Sports. Harrisburgh,
Rob Yclease, Marty Bowman, and Jay C. We're here. The
only person missing is our lead voice, the voice of
(26:45):
the Crusaders, mister Art Selby, who right now should be
in South ben Indiana. Hopefully he is, and hopefully he's listened. Guy,
we miss you and can't wait to have you back
next week. So here we dow fourth down a long
two to go for Cedarcliff, a ball in the thirty
eight yard line. Two minutes in the backfield, coats are
(27:10):
lined up and they're doing a long count. It was
almost like they were trying to draw mister be Debit
off sides, and the Crusaders didn't go for that.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
That's exactly what they were trying to do. Interesting that
they did that coming out of out of the break
between quarters. Mcdabbit very disciplined there, Marty. I didn't see
anybody even flinch.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
To Jay C's point, what we really saw the last
five minutes is even if something was working for Cedar Cliff,
they're not afraid to just go away notable, right, and
you know they're running the ball and then they'll come
back with the pass or you know, go back to
the run. So they're not afraid of, you know, trying
different things, trying to catch mcdebitt maybe in a set
(27:55):
that would allow for a long touchdown.
Speaker 5 (27:58):
I'm not going to give Cedar Cliff credit for this,
but it's almost like they go to the line of scrimmage,
they see it and say, oh, they're in that defense
and we're gonna throw it, or they're loaded the box,
so we're gonna you know, we're not gonna run. I
am surprised they called a time out like that because
(28:22):
it's still fourth down and at this point do you kick.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
It now you're down twenty one to nothing. You gotta go.
You're not gonna have that many possessions into Mcdevit's territory.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
I actually think I'm looking for a pitch here.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
And they tried to go wide too, and they did
not get it. Yep, have to look where the bodies lie.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
Nope, not even close. Great job Zach Brown penetrating getting
low and a kuiling Smith coming in hard from a
safety spot. He's a he's a yard short That is
the third time.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Early on rob where a killing smith has come in
to finish.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
Up a tackle.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
You know, we're talking about the defensive linemaking these tackles,
but a killing smith is coming in heavy from that
secondary spot.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
I'm kind of surprised they didn't go up the middle
like they had been where they were getting yardage and
going off tackle like.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
That, and Zach Brown having a real strong first half,
real real act of number four.
Speaker 5 (29:22):
All right, Crusaders have the ball on their oh thirty
seven yard line swing passed out to the left and
it was a little high, and I think he was
trying to look the whey he was going before he
caught it.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
That was Ish Palmer.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
You might've heard footsteps on that one.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
And guys, I'm still trying to see, you know, in
the binoculars here across to that far sideline to see
inaz Ear Jones Davis to see Swoops. I don't see him,
which means he's probably sitting down on the bench. I
don't know if he's getting retaped or what's happening, But
have not locate hated him.
Speaker 5 (30:01):
All right, Two split to the right, one to the
left handoff the left side and there's a turnaround play,
got caught in the backfield, turned the other way around
the left side, and what turned in from a loss
turned into about a ten yard game. It looks like
maybe nine and a half here.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
They're moving the sticks.
Speaker 5 (30:19):
I think, are they gonna move it?
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Jeroma roots you, and you're showing you why he's special,
why he's got already five or six Division one offers
here this early in his sophomore year. Look dead to
Wright five yards in the backfield, just totally slammed on
the brakes, cut back across the formation and down the side,
and lowered his shoulder, delivered a blow there to pick
(30:42):
up that first down.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
The diminutive Yes, Jerome l Rue, as you said, really
showing a lot of strength there to break away and
turn that into a ten yard pickup.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
All of the forty seven yard line. Sebastian drops back,
he's going deep and he has a man wide open.
Ball has caught at about the twenty yard line where
he's taken down and again that is it looks like
number two.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
Yes, Sir Howard Holton Junior.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
He was so wide open he had to wait on
that one.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Yeah, great playfake, great route down the on the on
the post there to Howard Holton and uh, I you.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
Know, Rob, you're the yard each guy, I had thirty
two thirty two yards yep. I'm like, if I had
it right from you, then that's that's all I ever
need to know.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
Ball's on the twenty one yard line. Two men split
to the left, one to the right. Sebastian hands off
up the middle and Barnes has it, bounces off one guy,
bounces off another, and it's finally taken down. I don't
know if he gained really anything.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
Maybe I think it's gonna be a Now the spot
it righted, it's a minus one. It's a minus one.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
Yeah, he had to do quite a bit just to
fight through because he was hit about three yards in
the backfield. Seacrest was in on that and some help
from the defensive line. I believe that was Chase Miller.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Lift takes the ball. The crusader's up the middle. This
was across the fifteen about the thirteen yard A question, Rob.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
There's swoops back in the game, Jones Davis, So hopefully
he's good to go. Hopefully he was just getting retaped.
He's battled several nagging injuries you know, we thought he
was really poised for a monster year. I thought it
could be a historic year for him, the way he
looked in the summer, and it still very well might be.
(32:42):
We're only four weeks in, but really want to see
that young man get healthy.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
So it's gonna be third in about four yards to
go for the crusader's ball. It is about it the
thirteen yard line, fourteen two into the right, one to
the left. She drops back a little turn in route
and this one is picked by the conceedar cliff and
he is down the sidelines, and luckily Sebastian's able to
(33:09):
get back and get him and a couple of crusaders
come in.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
I was number one, I believe amarian archery.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
That was.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
That was ugly. It looked like it was one of
those button hook turnarounds and they just waited too long.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
Yeah, we threw it a little bit late. Yeah, when
you talked to coach Wector Actualig Marty, he's gonna say,
you know, Sebastian had him and just threw it a
little late.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
It was. It was really funny because a little earlier
I was going to say I was watching Sebastian in
the warm ups and one of those out patterns. He
was doing so well throwing before the break right right
the balls. As the receiver turned on the break, the
ball was there, so that time was just a split
second late.
Speaker 5 (33:54):
So the ball was on the Crusader's thirty five. Cedarcliff
has it this time they fake drops back the past,
little screen pass, nothing happening. Crusaders are all over it.
He might have picked up two yards on the play.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Patrick Wright, number twenty one, the senior came in who
moved here from the state of Minnesota, just arrived during
heat acclamation week. Played for Maple Grove High School in Minnesota,
and he's really making a name for himself here in
the second theory. Of course, he got hurt in the
Harrishper game after making a big tackle in that game.
(34:32):
Missed last week, but he's back tonight.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Showed some strength there. Yeah, just through the receiver down.
Speaker 5 (34:39):
So second in a long seven, maybe a short eight
for the cedar Cliff while I was back looking for
a platte in the right side and he missed him.
He was trying to hit number twenty two. That was
Landon Howell.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
He was trying to hit and again, Patrick Wright, that's
one of those words popped up in the ear. Just
was not at the angle that he needed to pick
that off. He would have taken out to the out.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
Yep, he was. He was very close.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
We should note that on that interception of the wheels
that Sebastian show.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Yeah, it looked like it was going to be a
pick six, and Sebastian just hawked him right down, cut
him off easily.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
Falls back. Then the rush is on. This time a
little screen pass and a kid. We almost had a
chance for an interception. Yep. When you let someone in
for a screen pass, they can't come in too quick speed.
You couldn't even throw the.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
Pass broken up by Maurice Barnes. He almost had a
pick six last week, guys, the Crusader secondary with two
interceptions and seven passes broken up in that game, including
four by Tyler Reinhard and there you see one by
Barnes and r. J. Duffy really applying the pressure was
(36:00):
in Hinton's face.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Yeah, it was just a little bit at on the
ground when Barnes got there, another couple of inches off
the ground. He picks that up, it doesn't hit the
ground and he's gone.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
So it's fourth down now. Ceedarcliff cost their second time out,
and with that we'll take a time out too. You
listened to MISOPI David Football here on fourteen sixty Fox Sports, Harrisburg.
So it's fourth down now, Cedarcliff man in motion to
the left too on the right back to look, it's
a fly pattern on the left side and they have
(36:35):
their man for a touchdown. It was just a straight
fly and we have a flag going down that don't.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
Know, excessive celebration.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
Okay, it was a beautiful pass.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
It was right on to one Isaiah Jones thirty four yards.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Great job of putting that on the money with the
rush coming. Barnes coming at him, was actually getting ready
to partially had him wrapped up.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Yeah yeah, I mean yeah, I have got rid of
it in the nick of time.
Speaker 5 (37:17):
Receiver definitely had about a step and a half. It
wasn't bad coverage, but it was a perfect pass on
the one. So see the clip lines up for their
extra point and we're waiting for the kick balls down,
(37:42):
kick us up and it is no good, but we
have another flag. I don't know if we had a
piece of them, but they're saying we're off sides.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Yeah, on the far side that it was off sides.
I didn't catch the number who jumped there, tried to
anticipate the snap.
Speaker 5 (38:02):
So it'll be interesting to see if Cedar Cliff tries
to go for two. Now, being a little bit.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
Closer, it doesn't appear that they're they're gonna send the
offense back out.
Speaker 5 (38:17):
No, they'll be happy with the one. So Senior complines
up for their extra point again, waiting for the snap,
battles down, kick us up and this time it is good.
But they were lucky to get that one off. We
were right up the middle. So the score now is
(38:42):
Biso mc Demmon twenty one, Cedar Cliff seven. As we
start the second quarter, eight minutes left to go in
the second Discover Select Physical Therapy, where the power of
simbilical therapy transforms. With over thirty lowcases across, Select Physical
Therapy is ready to tackle your actions, your peens, everything
(39:06):
in between. This dedicated team will take care of all
of your needs. Call today and start your journey back
to what you've been doing. Remember, Select Physical Therapy is
your partner in recovery.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
You know, Rob, one of the things you know, over
the years we talk all of certain things. Mcdebitt's not
even taking the extra point for granted, right, those two
they were off sides on one, almost had a block
on the second. They are playing every.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
Down, Yeah, and that's we talked about that in the
summer Marty, about the little things in the details, and
specifically about special teams, how this group had the ability
to be special.
Speaker 7 (39:49):
In that phase scene, the Cliff kicks off the balls,
taking it the eighteen yard like across the twenty five
thirty thirty five, forty forty five, fifty forty five, forty
down and the ball was knocked out at the forty
yard line and Cedar Cliff.
Speaker 5 (40:06):
Is claiming that they have it, and yes they do.
It was a beautiful return and just when he got
to the forty.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
I think there's gonna be a fifteen yard penalty here
on Cedar Cliff. I'm not sure what happened at the
bottom of that pile, but Jack Dawston was laying on
the ground and several Blue jerseys I think Jack may
have had the football, is what was going on, fighting
for the football, and several Blue jerseys were kind of
poking at him, and I saw flags fly, so I'm
not sure. I'm not sure what happened. I mean, Dawson
(40:39):
was laying on the ground. I don't know whether he
had the ball. He was he was trying to get
the ball. But it looks like Cedarcliff's still going to
be great getting a turnover, but they're going to be
backed up fifteen here.
Speaker 5 (40:51):
Ah, they might have picked it up, did they. No,
they actually called him.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
They signaled two againstider Cliff.
Speaker 5 (41:00):
Yeah, absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
I mean there was no there was no white shirt
in the area other than the guy land on the ground,
So you know, I don't know what was going on there,
what they were.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
You take the touchdown celebration, yeah, oh, and then you
take these two forty five yards and two plays and
just you know, less than a minute or so.
Speaker 5 (41:25):
Yep, well that's better than the putt right there.
Speaker 4 (41:28):
So the way that works is they marked that thing
back from the thirty eight to the eleven. So I
guess the first one is marked to the twenty three
and the second ones at half the distance to the eleven,
so twenty seven yards.
Speaker 5 (41:46):
So first and ten for seed the clip ball and
eleven drops back another long past. This one is out
to the left side and there was no communications because
it looked like the receiver ran it out and the
quarterback is throwing it up.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
Shaheed Clement with really nice coverage that time on Anastasi.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
Yeah, it's what really stood out in that place. Who said,
was Clement with that great coverage.
Speaker 5 (42:18):
To the second down in ten?
Speaker 3 (42:19):
Important? Now for the Crusaders to get a stop, turn
the momentum back, you know, forced Cedar Cliff to punt
from deep in their own end and you know get
that field.
Speaker 5 (42:32):
Yeah, quarterback drops back, actually hands off good fake there
off towards the right side and nothing happened there. In fact,
I think they stopped him in the backfield. Maybe loss
in the yard or two.
Speaker 4 (42:49):
Yeah, I couldn't see who was at the bottom of
the pile. It looked like number thirty two Creaton Milch,
who's in there at defensive end was one of the guys.
But no gain for how's third down now, even with
some of those some of those nice runs, he's at
ten carries for twenty six yards, not nothing special.
Speaker 5 (43:09):
So it's third down for your Cedar Cliff. Now about
thirteen yards to go for a first down. They need
to reach about to twenty two and quarterbacks drops, he's
looking for somebody. He's under the rush and take any
made a nice little move to get a couple of seconds,
but it wasn't long enough and he was eating alive.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
Looked like Zach Brown was the first man there, yep
on the sack.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
Crusaders came out of him from two different angles there,
and he pulled it down when he was going to
get hit the first from the first angle, and then
there was Zach Brown.
Speaker 4 (43:50):
So that fumble recovery. The penalties killed the momentum. They
got packed way up and defense slams the door, so now.
Speaker 5 (43:59):
They'll be poor deep into the end zone. Short punt
hits out at about the inside the thirty picked up
in the thirty twenty five twenty fifteen, ten five, and
he gets hit again inside the five yard line and
it's not a touchdown, but it is close.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
It has to be marked no farther than about the
one foot line because he was almost tackled into the
end zone.
Speaker 5 (44:27):
It kind of reminded me of the kickoff a little bit.
He got hit that hard he flew, only this time
he held onto the ball.
Speaker 4 (44:34):
Thirty eight yard return for Ish Palmer so he was
determined to make amends for that fumble.
Speaker 3 (44:41):
Yeah, and when issue is returning, you cannot again take
anything for granted. He's been rolling, he got a good bounce,
he picked it up and boom full speed in about
two steps.
Speaker 4 (44:52):
He's an absolute weapon, just electric. Every time had.
Speaker 5 (44:57):
Off up the middle, and this time we are are
in touchdown. Bishop be debit. They get that seven right back.
Speaker 4 (45:05):
Because here Jones Davis one yard nice one play drive.
Speaker 3 (45:12):
You don't get a lot of those, do you.
Speaker 4 (45:16):
And the Crusaders restore some order here midway second quarter,
with six h three.
Speaker 5 (45:23):
Left in the first half, the Crusaders have scored again
and this time where looking balls down, kick us up.
It is good and with the score bisham be Devin
(45:45):
twenty eight see it for seven. Will pause just for
a moment. Listen to Bishop be devon football here on
fourteen sixty Fox Sports, Eversberg Bishop Be Demit football is
brought to you by Isi Green Spring Advisors with Tim
Decker Financial Freedom joining tomorrow morning w HP five eight
at ten am. So the Crusaders get ready to kick
(46:08):
off again, six minutes left to go in the first half,
and I have to say I am impressed after a
rough first game, the Crusaders have made a little bit
more progress each game and they're getting back to great
(46:29):
four kick is down, Bottles at the five, rolls into
the zo, it'll be a touchback and Cedar Cliff will
have the ball on their own.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Twenty Rob we talked about this said one of the
things that when you saw Jones Davis this year, when
you first saw him, was the fact that he was
thicker yep, stronger, yes, yet faster.
Speaker 4 (47:02):
The whole package, the complete package, and he already runs
so hard and determined.
Speaker 5 (47:10):
See the Cliff lines up in the pistol format, had
hand off to number twenty two howl and goes around
the left side and is able to pick up.
Speaker 4 (47:21):
I think there's gonna be a hole on Cedar Cliff. Okay,
I think they were holding Zach Brown on the edge there.
Speaker 5 (47:27):
Yep, yes, you're right, absolutely, So that's going to back
it up.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
That's one of those where Zach gets up the flag
was thrown and he didn't know it, so he's like,
why isn't there a holy car? Well, you have to
let the referee.
Speaker 4 (47:41):
You gotta give him a chance.
Speaker 3 (47:42):
Yeah. Yeah, he literally was tackled on the far side
of the field over there, and that.
Speaker 4 (47:50):
Crazy thing for Cedarcliff there was the play was coming
here to the bottom and wasn't involved.
Speaker 3 (47:55):
Right, That was a costly penalty after a big game
the Colts.
Speaker 5 (48:01):
So the ball's on the ten yard line now, first down,
hand off up the middle, and this time they run
the pistol and it's up across the fifteen maybe to
the sixteen.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
Maurice Barnes Junior on the stop again. He's off to
a very strong start, you know. RJ. Duffy leading the way.
Barnes second on the team in tackles, of course, went
over the two hundred career tackle mark earlier in the
year and really is poised to if he stays healthy,
(48:35):
to be one of the top three tacklers in school history.
I went all said and done.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
The Colts have been you know, after the first couple
of positions, they've been getting some yards. They can't get
two or three plays in a row, right, that's the
problem for them.
Speaker 5 (48:50):
Second and fourteen, Howe's rolling out to the right side
and he actually wanted to throw the ball.
Speaker 4 (48:56):
He did throw it.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
That he fumbled it.
Speaker 5 (49:01):
I thought it was batted down.
Speaker 4 (49:02):
He tried to throw it, but I right near the
sideline and Marty maybe maybe maybe he fumbled it. It
was hard to see.
Speaker 5 (49:16):
No, it's incomplete.
Speaker 4 (49:17):
He jumped up in the air to try to throw it,
and it's kind of like when you see a quarterback.
Was the arm going forward or not. He did try
to throw, but it does look like they're marking it
back at the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
So yeah, on the far side, yep, not mark it
as an incomplete, right. He actually did a out of
bounds yep. As the mcdebit player got it went out
of bounds. And that's what was confusing on it because
I thought, well he fumbled it.
Speaker 4 (49:41):
Barnes was hitting him, trying to strip him just as
he threw it.
Speaker 5 (49:47):
So again it third down at about fourteen, quarterback takes it,
rolls out to the right side, it's looking for a receiver,
hits the short man and it's dropped. He almost would
have made four yards. It's all the play, but nothing
happening there.
Speaker 3 (50:05):
It was right there, yep. He were just in huld
the ball for the coat.
Speaker 4 (50:08):
Patrick Wright on the coverage and now Cedar Cliff gets
to punt the ball to Ish Palmer again, and the
whole thing with Ishmarty as you were saying, we were
just what a weapon he is. You know, mcdebit did
not have him in the playoffs last year, just three
did not allow him to play in the playoffs, and
to have him this year. The more he gets better
(50:29):
at returning punts, you know, you could tell he was
new to it. He's had a couple you know, struggles.
Let's just say he's going to be an unbelievable weapon
in the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (50:38):
This should mean David almost blocked that punt. In fact,
the punter had to basically alter and it was a
terrible kick. I think the ball went out of bounce
at about the thirty thirty five yard line. That looked
like it was like number forty two of Cedar Cliff
that actually almost got his hands on it, but he
(50:59):
had him line up and if the punter wouldn't have moved,
it'd be the zone right now.
Speaker 4 (51:04):
Jack Dawson, yep, young man had a really great game
last week. You know, he does a lot of dirty
work at fullback also defensive end. He didn't put up
any big stats last week, but when you when you
went back and looked at it. He was in the
backfield so much. Him and Tron Dennis had quite a
few quarterback hurries. I believe Jack had four himself last week.
Speaker 3 (51:26):
Well, they did give him that fullback touchdown early, they did.
That was good to see.
Speaker 5 (51:30):
First intended the thirty five handoff up the middle and
he was lucky to get back to the line of scrimmage.
Number three for the Crusaders.
Speaker 4 (51:40):
So yeah, that was Aiden Arius, the two hundred and
thirty pounds senior linebacker. Again, nice job there, staying home. Well,
Roue tried to make a cutback and Arius stayed there
and just shut him down. No gain.
Speaker 5 (51:57):
Four minutes now left in the first half. Again Bishami
Devin leading twenty eight to seven. No problem here, Baul
on the thirty five yard line, second down for the Crusaders.
Speaker 3 (52:07):
I'm gonna make a call for Gage Ruth here.
Speaker 5 (52:11):
You're saying, all the way, huh. And he drops back
two steps looking for someone. Sebastian pulls it down and
he does find somebody, and it is all the way.
Do we see any flags?
Speaker 4 (52:25):
Nope?
Speaker 5 (52:25):
All right, ball, now there's a flag.
Speaker 4 (52:28):
I think it's a celebration. I didn't see what he did,
but he just threw it now in the end zone.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
I think it was just the fact of the way
he got rid of the football with the referee standing there.
That was the only thing that could possible.
Speaker 4 (52:39):
What a job by Sebastian Williams stepping up in the pocket,
keeping the feet moving. Marty. I thought he might tuck
it and run, but he looked Ice downfield and saw
Ish Palmer leaking all alone down the sideline and just
drilled just perfect pass to Ish Well.
Speaker 5 (52:54):
Marty said he was going all the way.
Speaker 3 (52:56):
Yeah, well I was. He actually did look at gauge
on the other side. Then with the protection breaking down
a little bit, and as Rob said, he stepped up
in looked like he was going to run. That brought
the defense. He backs up and.
Speaker 5 (53:12):
Beautiful touchdown. Crusader's line up for extra point now and
we're waiting for the snap. Ball is down, kicks up.
It is good and with three point thirty five left
to go here in the first half, Crusaders are leading
thirty five to seven. Mister Devin. Football is brought to
(53:35):
you by Constellation Energy. We bring the energy, producing clean,
reliable energy and powering new opportunities for families, community scores

tonight's game and the Game of the Week are brought

(53:56):
new opportunities for families and communities served Central Pennsylvania. Constellation Energy,
we bring the energy. So now they mark the penalty
off on the kickoff, so Bishop Devil will be cooking
from their old twenty five yard line.
Speaker 3 (54:21):
I will be interested Rob to find out what exactly
that was for. There was no celebration because there was
nobody there. Right, he was there in the Enzo by himself.
The referee was there. I don't know if the ref
might have asked for the ball and he laid it.
I don't know, I'm not saying. So we will look
at some film later and find out find out what happened.
Speaker 5 (54:51):
So we're waiting for the kickoff now from Cedar Club.
This is Richardson for the kick. Arello puts his foot
into it, ball is down to the twenty yard line
where it's taken across the twenty five thirty yard line
and he is cut down. What is stamber ten?
Speaker 4 (55:16):
What a stick?
Speaker 5 (55:17):
Carlos Smith?
Speaker 4 (55:18):
Yes, seeing the Senior safety five eight.
Speaker 3 (55:25):
That was tremendous coverage by Carlos.
Speaker 4 (55:27):
Big hit by Carlos there, and unfortunately the Colts returnment
is down on the ground at the thirty one yard line.
Speaker 5 (55:35):
He cut him at the knees. I think the first
thing that hit was probably his head when he came
down like that. We'll taking another moment to talk about
our friends from green Spring Advisors. The best thing about

site at GreenSpring Advisors dot com. And remember to listen
to Financial Freedom of our longtime friend Tim Decker tomorrow morning,
(56:21):
Saturday's ten am on our sister station, news radio WHP
five eighty. And unfortunately dude is still down and they
just took his helmet off.
Speaker 3 (56:44):
And the city clip guys all taking an ee here
on the sideline.
Speaker 5 (56:49):
Yeah, so again, three point thirty left in this the
first half JC.
Speaker 4 (56:58):
This was a big week. Mister Marty Bowman's birthday, Oh yeah,
celebrated Marty turned forty on Tuesday.
Speaker 5 (57:05):
I thought it was seventy five.
Speaker 4 (57:07):
And uh, Marty shares the birthday September ninth with a
former QB one Matt Johnson Matty Ice, and the current
QB one Sebastian Williams, all three born on September ninth.
Speaker 3 (57:26):
That puts me in rarified air, rarefied air, no doubt,
terrified air.
Speaker 5 (57:31):
Well, happy birthday.
Speaker 3 (57:32):
Well, unfortunately we weren't able to celebrate, so I celebrated
yesterday by having two teeth extracted. Ooh, I want to
tell you I've been very blessed over the years not
to have a lot of extractions. I can only remember one.
This was brutal.
Speaker 5 (57:50):
This was absolutely you talked about Moelers. Yes you are,
that is I'm amazed or even here.
Speaker 4 (57:56):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
I couldn't let you guys down, thank you, But I
didn't know how. I didn't know if you guys would
get along, if I wasn't between you. Oh my god,
that's why I had to come. Do you have any
update on the Phillies? They were up four to one.
Speaker 4 (58:12):
Well, the way it's looking, we're gonna have plenty of
time here to to uh six to one. Now in
the bottom of the fourth.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
I did see you earlier. The guys that have been
hitting or continuing to hit Bader.
Speaker 4 (58:25):
Marsh Speaking of former Crusaders, I mentioned Matt Johnson, another
former Crusader in action tonight on the ACC Network, Tyshawn
Russell Syracuse Orange hosting Colgate and they're up twenty four
to three in the second quarter. Tyshawn with with just
one catch so far. The Cedar Cliff player is on
(58:51):
his feet. Guys, it looks like number five. It looks
like number five. Jaden heckerd senior receiver, defensive back.
Speaker 5 (59:04):
Now, was he the one that took the kick off?
Speaker 4 (59:07):
Yes, sir, because he was hit hard. He's walking pretty gingerly.
Now he's getting some help from some teammates. We're trying
to help him here to the sideline and now they're
gonna now they're gonna just pick him up.
Speaker 5 (59:29):
Back in the day, we used to call that a
slobbery knocking. Really it was. It was his head.
Speaker 4 (59:37):
An intense hit from Carlos Smith.
Speaker 5 (59:41):
Hyeah, all right, with Crusaders and lined up, Snifer was
lined up. They run off the left side and they
get nothing, absolutely nothing.
Speaker 3 (59:55):
The loss of almost one on that now of Blake here.
Now mcdebbitt is going back to where this game started.
They're really shutting down anything coming out of the backfield.
Speaker 4 (01:00:09):
Well, the last two runs for hal of both going
for a negative yardage, so he's now going backwards. Eleven
carries for twenty four yards. Jakai Logan, big three hundred
pounds senior defensive tackle, just having a great year both
ways go. You know, plays right guard, three year starter there,
having a real good year on defensive tackle.
Speaker 5 (01:00:30):
Pistol again. He comes to the left side again, this
time trying to get around the corner and does but
I see another flag, so.
Speaker 4 (01:00:39):
It's going to be another hole.
Speaker 5 (01:00:44):
When guy's going hoove me.
Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
Ye.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
One of the mcdebbitt players was getting a little bit
of a talking match with one of the colts and
the airfore mentioned Ki Logan just grabbed him by the
shoulder and turned him around and said, we're not having
any of that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
Yeah, don't need it.
Speaker 5 (01:01:08):
So that pushes the ball all the way back to
the Cedar Cliff twenty.
Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
The Crusaders with all three timeouts, you know, they want
to get their hands on the ball one more time
here because Cedarcliff will get it to start the second half.
Speaker 5 (01:01:23):
Cedarcliff needs to get the ball to their own forty
one yard line again. The ball sitting at the twenty
says twenty one yards. Three guys slip to the right.
Man goes and motioned to the left. Quarterback drops looking
another load of the fly patterns down there, and they
throw another flag.
Speaker 4 (01:01:44):
Unfortunately, I think the it's gonna be a hole again.
Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
The hand did come out there.
Speaker 4 (01:01:47):
And defensive hole. Yeah, defensive hold.
Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
Got the receiver rad in the forearm, fourarm are there
in the elbow area and that just set him up.
Speaker 4 (01:01:59):
They're calling as interference.
Speaker 5 (01:02:01):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
I guess it could have went either way, right it was,
I would have probably went hold.
Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
But so that's gonna make it second and six to
thirty five fifteen yards.
Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
So it'll be second down now. Ball at the thirty five.
Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
Crusaders have some David Maltestenek and Creighton Milch have come
into the game at defensive end. They've slid Tehran Dennis
inside the defensive tackle, something they did quite a bit
last week.
Speaker 5 (01:02:38):
With Tehran two minutes left to go in this half,
roll out to the right, little swing pass to the
Flairman forty forty five point fifty before he's pushed out
of bounce. Yeah, that was nothing to elaborate.
Speaker 4 (01:02:56):
Pass was to Will White, number twenty, first time we've
seen him in the.
Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
Game, pushed out by Patrick Wright. It has been very
active in this first day after the crusader, as you've
talked about Ron, Yes.
Speaker 5 (01:03:12):
They've run so many sweet plays that he was able
to get out with nobody really noticing. Hand off the middle,
shuttle pass up the middle, and they tried to run
that again. This time the runner is keeps fighting and
he's across the forty five all the way after the forty.
A couple of Crusaders had him, but he just kept going.
Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
Yeah, they were looking to strip the ball. They were
trying to tackle the football instead of the runner. And
that was Alex Otero, the senior running back, his first
action of the night, and he he ran like a
bull there. Yeah, they couldn't bring him down and he
picked up eleven or ten yards.
Speaker 5 (01:03:53):
Low center of gravity. Run play up the middle. This
time everyone's there to meet How. It was like the
rush was on and the linebackers were in just as
How got the ball, So nothing was happening there.
Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
He had to Ron Dennis number eleven led the way
create Campbell Milch all.
Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
Really well coming off the far side, off the edge
timed it just hit the line of scrimmage on the
snap and was able to contribute.
Speaker 5 (01:04:25):
Little less than a minute to go in the first half.
Speaker 4 (01:04:28):
Cedar Cliff with one time out. I suspect if they
get this first down here, guys, they'll take that.
Speaker 5 (01:04:35):
Three guys split to the right side, third down, about
four to go for a first down. Man in motion
to the left, and just as he snaps the ball,
they're going to say, I legal procedure on Cedar Cliff
and it's going to go back five more yards.
Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
Be interesting to see if Wector takes the time out here, Rob.
Speaker 5 (01:05:00):
Yeah, forty point five seconds left and the clock starts again.
Four guys to the right, one in the backfield. Man
goes in motion heading to the left, and they tried
(01:05:20):
to run a little slat party on the inside and
he gets away and we have another Cedar Cliff touchdown.
It was just a slat pattern. The defender slid off
the tackle and didn't bring him down and it was
off to the race.
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
Taiwan Bird number seven nice speed there on the slant.
Thought thought a couple of crusaders might be able to
track him down. But bird, you rarely see someone out
run the McDavid secondary.
Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
Perfect pass, Yes, perfect catch, only had the one tackle
to break at the time of the catch. He broke
it and it was just nothing but green in front
of him.
Speaker 5 (01:06:07):
Balls down, kick us up and it is blocked.
Speaker 4 (01:06:13):
No good Akilan Smith knife right in there, got up
and blocked it clean.
Speaker 5 (01:06:23):
Thirty five to thirteen. If frusaders are on top of
Cedar Cliff with nineteen seconds left here in the first half,
Select Physical Therapy discovered the power of physical therapy with
over thirty locations throughout Central PA. They're here to tackle
(01:06:43):
your ex pains and everything in between. Go back to
what you love call select physical therapy today. One of
the things I gotta say is in both instances where
a Cedar Cliff is scored, they've cocked the ball while
running full speed yep. And when you don't have to
(01:07:05):
change gears and you already have your motor running, that's
half the battle right there.
Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
Let's see a fish bomber or one of the up
men can break one or at least get it out
where mcdeba can take a shot.
Speaker 4 (01:07:24):
I'm sure they're gonna try and squib this. They probably
don't one ish, I wouldn't be surprised, guys if they
pop it up to the third row up, not even
to the two upmen, but the three guys here at
the thirty five.
Speaker 5 (01:07:42):
Well, they try a little squib pick and the ball
rolls down to about the five yard line before it
rolls out of bounce, and we let it roll out
of bounce, so flag is thrown, so we will get
some extra yard each out of this one.
Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
Yeah, it's nice job and good judgment thereby Ish to
let that thing roll and it bounces out of bounds,
so big DEVI. It will still have nineteen point nine seconds,
three time outs.
Speaker 3 (01:08:20):
And they're gonna have a rekick. I mean, it's a
good move by coach Wector. You want to give you know,
those speedy retirement and opportunity.
Speaker 5 (01:08:40):
So again you will rekick nineteen to nine twenty seconds
literally here in the first half, and they back five
yards and they will try it again again. The score
(01:09:01):
thirty five thirteen. Now the Crusaders are up and they
line up and here's the kick. Another squib kicked down
the middle, this time up the right hash line picked
up there across the thirty five taken down to the
thirty seven where the Crusaders taken down. Is that number
(01:09:28):
six or number eight?
Speaker 3 (01:09:29):
That was okay for the Crusaders.
Speaker 5 (01:09:32):
Some of these numbers are confusing sometimes, all right, And
I've talked about that again for those missing art Selby.
Once a year he gives me a chance to kick
off a little bit of rust. I think I have
more rush to kick off this year. But he will
be back next week. Hopefully he's having a good time.
(01:09:55):
He's in South Bend for the Texas A and M
taking on Notre Dame tomorrow night. And it looks like
the Crusaders are just gonna take a knee and we're
gonna call this a half. And that's what it is.
So again, with our score thirty five to thirteen, the Crusaders,
(01:10:17):
we're gonna bring brack and have halftime. You listened to
Bishop Devon football on fourteen sixty Fox Sports Harrisburg. Right
here at West Shore Stadium where the Crusaders are taking
on Central Dolphin. This is one of these Commonwealth Midpen
Division games. Believe it or not, Cedarcliffe was two in
(01:10:39):
zer in the Commonwealth Division, and of course Bishop y
Devon we are one and one. The original or the
first loss to I should say, our second loss to
Harrisburg put us in a hole. Last week we came
back against Chambersburg which made it one in one. So
(01:11:00):
this grade makes it even more important for the Crusaders
just to get easy with cedar Cliff and hopefully before
the year is out we'll put a lot of distance
in between them. But we cannot have three losses. We cannot.
We have to take this one all the way to
the house tonight, which leads me to ask, when do
(01:11:21):
we put the rinking thing? Siff? When does when did
the second and third teamers get in this game? Is
it going to be a minute or are we going
to see him at the beginning of the second half?
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Do you think I really don't want to wager or
not wager whatever word I'm looking for. He help me out,
br I don't want to just make a guess on that.
No cedar Cliff could get a touchdown here and all
of a sudden it's a two score game, Facie. So yeah,
I that's one that I don't think we can make
that call.
Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
Yet Now, I think you'll see, you'll I do. I
do think the game is going to get into a
Mercy role, but I think you know, I don't. I
don't see it happen until late third quarter, So yeah,
I don't think you'll see I mean, truthfully, mcdeviit plays
a ton of guys on defense anyway, so you already
(01:12:07):
see a lot of the second unit in there. You know,
they rotate two or three defensive linemen in every other series, Uh,
they play a couple extra defensive back So I don't
think you'll see any kind of wholesale subs even if
they even if they shut this first series down, you know,
Coach Wector is definitely gonna have the first team offense
run a couple of series here and try to put
(01:12:29):
it into a running clock.
Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
Situation, depending on the timing I think you're looking at.
I don't think that's gonna happen before, as you said,
late third maybe early for it, right, and again mcdevion
has to get a stop here and they need two
more scores to to go to the Mercy Wolves.
Speaker 5 (01:12:48):
So well, Guerrilla is lying it up as Crusaders get
ready to kick off here as we start the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:12:57):
What would really be a plus here is a no
return Gorilla taking it to the end zone with the kick.
That would be great.
Speaker 5 (01:13:07):
And we're waiting for the official and there's the whistle
and the kick is up. It is deep, it is
heading back into the end zone and they're gonna let
it roll out the back so Ceedarcliff will get the
ball on their own twenty yard line as we start
the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
And what you wanted to see Gerrilla? Do you wanted
to see him put it there in the end zone.
It probably landed one foot in or one foot out.
It was kind of hard to tell exactly where it landed,
but it was definitely not going to be returned.
Speaker 4 (01:13:39):
And a couple things to mention here. One Tyler Ronhard
looks like he's done for the night. On the sideline.
He was battling a little something come into this and
he's not one hundred percent. He's not in there.
Speaker 5 (01:13:49):
And Setercliff takes it around the right side of the
pistol formation and it is howell I believe it goes
around the left side, across the thirty up out to
the thirty five thirty seven yard line. That was one
of the pistol plays, and they got some blockers in
front of him this time.
Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
And as they said, Jason, that's what's hard. It's football.
It's hard to tell. And that's a big play for them.
Speaker 5 (01:14:14):
And they tried again. This time he tries to go
up the middle and he picks up about four before
he's brought down. Forty yard line is where they get him.
Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
Maurice Barnes at the bottom of that pile along with
Chris Thompson.
Speaker 3 (01:14:30):
And not a lot of tackles in the middle field
that Killing Smith is not in on today, so it.
Speaker 5 (01:14:37):
Appears this is going to be Cedycliff drive. As they
continue with the pistol offense, howl is calling sacks signals now,
and this time back up the middle again, and this
time again he pushes through for another three to three
to four yards, and this time the ball is just
(01:14:57):
about at the forty four yard line, just inside the
forty four almost touching, which makes a third down and
about a long three.
Speaker 3 (01:15:07):
And the way they've been running tonight, the way they've
been changing things up, at some point in time, you're
gonna guess that the tight end is just gonna run a.
Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
Seam route right seacrest.
Speaker 5 (01:15:18):
Line up again and once again up the middle, and
this time again out across fifty out to about the
forty seven yard line of Bishop mcdebit. And I think
we have a drive here. Ceed clyffele gone from their
own twenty out to the forty eight yard line of
(01:15:39):
Bishop mc debit.
Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
And they're coming off the ball. They are pushing the
crusaders back. You know, they're getting initial gains of three
or four and then finishing up with three or four
extra yards.
Speaker 5 (01:15:54):
So we come down first and ten ball into the
bishomc deviit forty eight yard line and they get up and.
Speaker 4 (01:16:03):
I don't know if there was like an equipment problem there.
Speaker 5 (01:16:05):
Yeah, the official was adjusted. What are the helmets there?
And now there's another gesture.
Speaker 3 (01:16:14):
They need to restart the playclock because of that equipment adjustment.
Speaker 5 (01:16:19):
So again up the middle of this time there's off
the left tackle and he's able to pick up about
four yards inside to about the forty four yard line
from the.
Speaker 4 (01:16:32):
Safety coming up hard on that.
Speaker 5 (01:16:38):
And how ought to be getting a little tired by now?
Speaker 4 (01:16:42):
Well, this is certainly effective. The only thing I'm going
to say is, you know, if this is the sort
of methodical strategy you're gonna employ, you gotta go down
and score a touchdown.
Speaker 5 (01:16:50):
Yeah, second down now, and they try to go up
to the left side again. This time the Crusader shut
it down. This time he may have gotten the yard.
Half a yard.
Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
Chakai Logan, RJ. Duffy, Maurice Barnes all in there, and.
Speaker 5 (01:17:10):
This time Hal has a hard time getting up. His
teammates have to pick him up, and he's decided to
come out for a player too.
Speaker 4 (01:17:18):
He's up to fifty nine yards now in seventeen carries.
Has that been the well, No McDevitt making some substitution now,
David malattesting it coming into the game.
Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
Rob Chance the chance. I was just gonna say, I
thought he was in one of the corners.
Speaker 4 (01:17:37):
He played a real good game last week against Chambersburg.
Speaker 5 (01:17:40):
Quarterback is back and he drops back and he almost
got sacked, stepped up and then got sacked.
Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
Yeah, he avoided the first man, which I don't know
if it was Barnes or Zach Brown, but Chris Thompson
we'll get the credit for the sack. There is is
Hinton was sort of falling and just Thompson just brushed
against him and Chris will get the QB sack there
and a five yard loss that will end this drive
(01:18:07):
as they bring Seacrest into punt. So you know they
took almost four yards off the clock eys and they
moved the ball, but you know, you don't come up
with any points there.
Speaker 5 (01:18:19):
Since fourth down in about thirteen to go, snap, his
back kick is up. They're very high and it lands
at about the twenty yard line, rolls inside to fifteen,
stops at about the thirteen and that's where the Crusaders
will set up shop. So again, seven fifty left to
go in the third quarter, thirty five to thirteen is
(01:18:42):
our score. The Crusaders are on top.
Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Rob We did see John take quick at the beginning
of this half come out with in shorts and T shirt.
Speaker 4 (01:18:53):
Yeah, John t. We did not see him Marty get injured.
We didn't see any play where he limped off or whatever.
But you're right, he's in his jersey, just shorts and
not obviously not going to play in the second half.
We have no idea what that that injury might be.
But he was walking around, he wasn't being assisted or
(01:19:14):
didn't have any crutches anything like that. No, you know,
nothing happening there.
Speaker 5 (01:19:19):
Crusaders lined up first and ten handoff to the left
side around the quarter. It looks like he tried to
go off tackle and then bounced out to the outside
and really tried to get outside the hashmarks to the
end and he may have picked up maybe a yard
or two. Looks like about two yards. So the second
(01:19:41):
after the crusaders there, well, the.
Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
Coach defense kind of taking a little energy from the
offense on that drive that they had, and they stuck
right with Lazier Jones Davis on.
Speaker 5 (01:19:53):
That play on that suite second down, hand off up
the middle this time, nothing to it. Maybe maybe a
yard or two there, So we'll make it third down,
and I'd have to say about seven.
Speaker 4 (01:20:07):
Yeah, third and seven.
Speaker 5 (01:20:14):
G seven eighteen left in the third quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:20:20):
So with John tay Quick not in there, you've got
Howard Holton junior gage, ruth Ish Palmer's the third receiver
and they look looks like they've in thirded the var
chants here as the fourth receiver on third down.
Speaker 5 (01:20:34):
The freshman three receivers been to the right. Sebastian looking
to the left, looks like a little screen pass off
to the left, and they might they might have gotten
the first down and.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
They marked them out.
Speaker 5 (01:20:46):
Okay, yeah, it'll be fourth down.
Speaker 4 (01:20:50):
Yeah, they were trying to set up the screen to
Barnes Cedarcliff. We're at it. Well, Sebastian had to pull
the ball down and wait and wait, and then he
did was able to get it off Maurice, but only
picked up about five and ain't needed seven.
Speaker 5 (01:21:07):
So let me be fourth down for the Crusaders, maybe
about four to go short. Fourth ball is up, kick
is off, a good punt lands in about the fifty
yard line, takes a missigan devon roll down towards the
(01:21:27):
forty down towards the thirty five, and that's where it'll
be marked dead at the thirty five yard line of
Cedar Cliff.
Speaker 4 (01:21:35):
Forty four yard punt, no return.
Speaker 5 (01:21:39):
Almost thought it hit a colt there for a minute
when it hit the ground.
Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
Soul Jase. I think your question of a few minutes
ago was partially answered in that we run almost six
minutes of this third quarter and the score hasn't changed, right, so.
Speaker 5 (01:22:01):
So nothing has changed as far as the lineup is concerned.
Speaker 4 (01:22:03):
Either.
Speaker 5 (01:22:07):
Okay, first and ten for the cedar Cliff balls on
their own thirty five.
Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Yard where Seedarcliff take a shot down the field here.
Speaker 5 (01:22:14):
Soon they try to hand off up the middle and
nothing happening.
Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
Is that Jack Dawson, Yes it is. He just he
just smothered that play.
Speaker 4 (01:22:25):
Smother was the perfect word for it. He just busted
in and wrapped him up before he could even get going.
So two yard loss there thanks to Dawson.
Speaker 5 (01:22:37):
So they'll mak it second and twelve balls now at
the thirty three yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
Of course, Jack's dad, Dave Dawson, was tremendous, tremendous running
back for coach Wector over twenty years ago. Now time
is really flying, but Dave's one of the best ever.
At mcdeviitt.
Speaker 5 (01:22:58):
Was line up against Ceedarcliff. Looks like a pass over
the middle, and it looked like it was an air
and throw and it was right in the hands of
number thirty one, and he's just looking at RJ. Jeffi's
looking at himself saying, how can I drop that? That
was a gift right now?
Speaker 4 (01:23:17):
That was right in his hands.
Speaker 3 (01:23:19):
And let's uh credit Maurice Barnes with a middle blitz
yep and forcing the throw and almost Stuffy almost able
to be the benefactor of that.
Speaker 5 (01:23:36):
So it's third and thirteen now for Cedar Cliff. Three
men splaying to the right side, one man in the
backfield hitting drops back the throw and he is crushed.
He came up to look for somebody and all he
saw was gold helmets and white jerseys.
Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
Zac Brown mcdavit running a complicated blitz there. They had
guys sort of faking the blitz backing off, you know.
They sent Brown, I think Barnes sort of delayed and
then came and it was like they just couldn't They
couldn't pick it up. They could not block that.
Speaker 3 (01:24:12):
Just too many white shirts.
Speaker 4 (01:24:14):
Ten yard loss on the big sack by Zach Brown.
Speaker 5 (01:24:18):
I know why they were running pistols so much. All right,
Seed the Cliff lines up the punt and snap kickings
up very high, very short, kicking not very far, hits
it the forty and rolls out and bounce at about
the forty six. That's where Bishop Devil will set up
on Cedar Cliff's forty six yard line. Again, we have
(01:24:42):
four point fifty seven left in this the third quarter.
I just want to tell you that financial freedom with
Tim Decker will be on our sister station WHP five
point eighty tomorrow morning at ten am. Green Spring Advisors,
(01:25:04):
who owns Financial Freedom, is one of our main sponsors.
We'd like to thank Tim Decker and his entire organization
for being with Bishop. He demmot football. All right, the
balls at the forty six yard line. Sebastian's calling signals
two men to the left, handoff up the middle across
the forty five forty three, forty two yard line before
(01:25:28):
he's brought down. That looks like it was number three?
Speaker 4 (01:25:32):
Is that Jerome l Jr. Yep, Nice job there by
the guards for mcdavitt, Landon Colbert and Jakai Logan.
Speaker 5 (01:25:46):
Pick up a four on that play. Make it second
down and a long six for the Crusaders. Two men
to the right, one to the left, one in the
backfield with Sebastian handoff of middle again another big hole
across the forty out to about the thirty six yard line.
Before LaRue was brought down.
Speaker 3 (01:26:06):
They brought Jack Dawson in motion from the far wing
and he laid some lumber in there and really aided
that pick up of five yards.
Speaker 4 (01:26:15):
Yeah, Unfortunately, LaRue just lost his footing, just slipped slipped down,
or he would have easily picked up the first down
and probably would have picked up another ten yards or so.
Still in the third and one.
Speaker 5 (01:26:30):
Seems they moved the ball back to the thirty seven
yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:26:33):
Jones Davis back in there now to the left, one.
Speaker 5 (01:26:37):
To the right, handoff up the middle again, this time
across the thirty five up to about the thirty three
yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:26:44):
Flag is either an it's either holding or a face mask.
Speaker 4 (01:26:48):
That was the area that Yep, I think it was
going to be a face mask.
Speaker 3 (01:26:53):
But that's what I thought. Yep, yeah, because there really
wasn't a mcdebit blocker that right right got called for
the all, So that's I thought.
Speaker 5 (01:27:03):
The face man's also fifteen against Supercliff, which moves the
ball down.
Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
To about they're only marking off five yards. I thought
we were done with the five verses fifteen. I thought
it was always fifteen.
Speaker 5 (01:27:22):
Yeah, that's all it is.
Speaker 4 (01:27:23):
That's kind of odd, all right.
Speaker 5 (01:27:28):
Then two to the left, one to the right, one
man in the backfield with Sebastian hand off the middle
on the right's left side, excuse me, and he is
so quick that he was able to cut off tackle
and just drive it way upfield. And I think that
ball was out to about the twenty yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
Yep, Swoops, that was singerly going off on that.
Speaker 5 (01:27:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:27:56):
I think Swoops is just he's just going to continue
to play through these injuries. He just you know, he's
been nicked up, he's had several different things going on,
but he wants to.
Speaker 5 (01:28:07):
Play second in a long two for the your said,
there's two to the left, one to the right, hand
off up the middle. Barnes has it off the left
tackle and punches that one into about that might be
close to a first down right there.
Speaker 3 (01:28:23):
He is spoted. It's just shy on the far side.
Speaker 5 (01:28:31):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:28:32):
You know, guys, what things you got to remember here
is I don't think coach Wector really minds being able
to have his offensive line sustain a drive like this,
right and get more work, get more cohesiveness as an
offensive line.
Speaker 4 (01:28:48):
Now, you're absolutely right, because if you think about last season,
they built and built and built that run game so
it was in peak form for the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:28:57):
And hand off up the middle and first down and more.
And he got inside the fifteen yard line on that
and I think that's where they're gonna mark.
Speaker 4 (01:29:10):
Yeah, great surge from Maurice Barnes, just refusing to go
down there.
Speaker 3 (01:29:17):
I don't know if it's just meat tonight, but either
side of the football, Maurice Barnes looks like his first
step is so quick too.
Speaker 4 (01:29:25):
Yeah, I agree with you. He's got a little extra
something going tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:29:32):
It's first and ten for the Crusader's ball in the
fifteen yard line, one on each side, hand off up
the middle, cut to the outside around the end, and
he is off to the races inside out to about
the six yard line. Is that LaRue again?
Speaker 3 (01:29:46):
Yes, sir, pick up before for LaRue.
Speaker 4 (01:29:51):
And they went off the right side where the tight
end Liam Fuller was. Liam got a good block to
help seal that edge and spring Rome and you know,
interesting to night. LaRue has eight carries, Jones Davis has
seven and barn six, So it's the true three headed
Bunster tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:30:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
And on that LaRue with his hesitation, gave Liam Fuller
the opportunity to finish that blockout.
Speaker 5 (01:30:21):
Hand off up the middle again and he busts through
the five just inside the five yard line. He was
held up, So that's another first down. It looks like
two yards, so they'll be first in goal.
Speaker 4 (01:30:46):
They're gonna let this run out and go to the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 5 (01:30:49):
I think okay then, and while they let this clock
ran out, we will tell you the score now is
thirty five to thirty team Bishop mc devon on top
of Cedarcliff. We'll be back with fourth quarter action here
at West Shore Stadium. You're listening to Bisho mc devon
(01:31:09):
football on fourteen to sixty Fox Sports Hamersburg. All right,
Bishop mc devon lines up on their own five yard line.
Hand off up to the left side, across the tackle,
busting through all the way to the end zone. Untouched
Bishop mcdevin, touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:31:25):
Jones Davis.
Speaker 5 (01:31:26):
Okay, the zero, no one touched him. He was all
the way. So that makes the score forty one. They're
doing the extra point now, snap is taken, ball is down,
kick is up. It is good. Bishop mc devion now
leaves forty two to thirteen eleven fifty six left to
go in this game. Let's pause one more time. You
(01:31:48):
listened to Bishop be devon football, bishamanc devin lines up
for the kickoff and Arello puts his foot in it
once again, and this ball is all the way down
to the end zone out the back, so cedarcliffill say
up on their own twenty yard line again. The score
of forty two to thirteen.
Speaker 3 (01:32:07):
It's just a very impressive on the ground drive that
the Crusaders put together there, and I'm sure when we
talked to coach Wector that I would think he'd be
pleased with that.
Speaker 4 (01:32:20):
Yeah, nine plays all on the ground, very impressive.
Speaker 5 (01:32:25):
So you kind lines up, goes back to throw a
quick little flare pass out to the right, and there
was no timing on that place.
Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
He threw that way too early. The receiver hadn't really
got a chance to get out from the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 5 (01:32:41):
Crusaders had the rush on. So it'll be second and ten.
Now I've getting ball with the twenty clock. In this
running one, Mass looked to the left side two minutes
the backfield hand off to the full back up the
(01:33:04):
middle of the up man. They tried to sneak him
through quick, but the Crusaders were ready.
Speaker 3 (01:33:14):
And Rob I think we're seeing mostly the first team
had on defense.
Speaker 4 (01:33:21):
Yeah, that was Jakai Logan there making the hit right
at the line of scrimmage. They'll give him, they'll give
him a yard on that.
Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
But Clement is in there as one of the d
bats for the Crusaders.
Speaker 5 (01:33:34):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (01:33:35):
Yeah, they've been playing Clement, Clement and Chance a lot.
They've been trying to get four corners in the game,
you know, getting a lot of reps for those guys.
Speaker 5 (01:33:45):
Third down, looks like the quarterbacks can the run. But
he gives a little shuttle pass to one of the
blocking backs and now we got some pushing going on.
Speaker 4 (01:33:54):
Chris Thompson all over that play, and one of the
offensive lineman for Cedar Crouff, a little frustrated, gave it's
a shove after the whistling Marty. Nice job by Chris
to walk away from that, because if he would have
came back and shoved back, I have a feeling there
would have been a flag.
Speaker 5 (01:34:09):
But R. J.
Speaker 3 (01:34:10):
Duffy really reacted well to that little shit. Yes he did,
he really did.
Speaker 5 (01:34:16):
So. Cedar Cliff lines up the punt, snap ball US up,
kick us out better kick this time back to the
forty yard line, takes it. They're forty five fifty forty
five forty puts a move on thirty five thirty three
yard line taken down and do we have a flag?
Speaker 4 (01:34:36):
We do, but I have no idea what this is
going to be for it's way back back where the
punt was coming from. Wow, so swoop personal about a
thirty yard return there.
Speaker 5 (01:34:55):
They're the same personal foul on mcdebit.
Speaker 4 (01:34:57):
I'm sorry, not swoops ish Palmer. I have no idea
twenty nine yard return, but yeah, they're gonna have some
of that wiped out.
Speaker 5 (01:35:22):
And they're marking this one off and they're marking it
out to the forty eight yard line, so that's where
the Crusaders will start. That was a good return, and
it looked like excellent field position. Now said, here we
go again, and it's still not bad field position, but
you know, it would have been a lot better to
(01:35:43):
have it over thirty three. This man lines up the
right left hand off to the man up the middle,
cuts around up to about the thirty yard line, and
we have another flag too.
Speaker 4 (01:35:58):
Went to LaRue. The two backs gave it to LaRue
and he they grabbed his face mask.
Speaker 5 (01:36:07):
So I guess we're gonna get that fifteen back.
Speaker 4 (01:36:09):
Yep, that's exactly what's happening.
Speaker 5 (01:36:14):
So we get that back. Add on a couple of
yards and the balls down at the seat. It was
twenty five yard.
Speaker 3 (01:36:20):
Line and rob it was from Reice Barnes that led
that through. Yes, he was the lead blocker on that
play for the Crusaders.
Speaker 4 (01:36:30):
Yeah. I like a lot of these two back looks
that they you know, Jeff Wector unleashed against Harrisburg and
a lot of versatile things you can do when you
have three running backs like that.
Speaker 5 (01:36:44):
First down twenty five handoff up the middle, and it
looks like Barnes is across the twenty five up, so
maybe the twenty three.
Speaker 3 (01:36:53):
A little bit maybe of a high snap on that
one there. It was broke the timing on the play,
nine thirty.
Speaker 5 (01:37:04):
Nine left to go in the game again to score
forty two to thirteen second and a long eight pretal.
Speaker 4 (01:37:16):
Crusaders mcdebbit, very deliberate, just letting the play clock go
down pretty far each snap, taking their time coming out
of the huddle. Zach Brown in there now is an
h bac coming in motion.
Speaker 5 (01:37:31):
Hand off up the middle again. Pyle gets pushed across
the twenty one out to about the twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:37:40):
Maurice Barnes getting up slowly. Ah he's okay, he's just
taking this time too gingerly going off. Doesn't look game
real serious, but he is kind of favoring the one
leg as he goes off.
Speaker 4 (01:37:55):
The nice thing about mcdebbit, you know, not that I
shouldn't say the nice thing, but mcdabbitt with a lot
of guys, banged up, a lot of guys. We've mentioned
nursing injuries. But they play Carlisle next Friday night at home,
which really, you know is not going to be a
big test. Let's just say that. And then al Tuna
in two weeks. Out at Altuna, one of the.
Speaker 5 (01:38:17):
Things that I remember is Art said that McDavid has
a lot of running backs. Here we go a little
pass out to fright to the right side the tight end.
What are your favorites party? And this is out to
about the fifteen to ten inside the ten yard line
before he's dragged out.
Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
Team Fuller just came off the line of scrimmage and
Sebastian Williams put it right there.
Speaker 5 (01:38:43):
Looked like the wide receiver took the coverage out down
deep side and the tight end came right in behind him.
Speaker 4 (01:38:50):
Absolutely JC great analysis. They cleared out that side and
big Liam just leaked out there underneath and picked up
twelve that catch.
Speaker 5 (01:39:01):
First and ten bal at the eight yard line, hand
off up the middle again and he's able to peek
through across the five up to about the four, maybe
the three and a half, and we.
Speaker 4 (01:39:13):
Just have to keep giving credit. I know we've mentioned
a few of them, but the whole offensive line from
left to the right, Yes, Aiden miktitch Landon, Kolbert Jude
Slover at center, Jakai Logan, and the sophomore Andre Maina
having a great game tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:39:29):
Yes, very much so. Alright, it's third down, a second down,
down inside the five, two minute in the back, three
minute in the backfield, mounts us to the outside, tries
to make it around the corner, and he will walk
into the end zone untouched. He started in the middle,
saw it was jammed up, and then cut it to
(01:39:49):
the outside and took it all the way around the edge.
Speaker 4 (01:39:54):
Jerome LaRue Junior. So all three of those running backs
tonight LaRue's second touchdown. Jones, Davis has two, Barnes has one.
So it took a while, gentlemen, but my my prediction
has finally come true. With seven oh five to play.
We were going to have the running clock from here
on out.
Speaker 5 (01:40:16):
They lined up for the extra point, waiting on the step.
Ball is down, kick is up. It's good, No, no good,
excuse me?
Speaker 3 (01:40:25):
Pull that off to the left.
Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
Yeah, kicked it very low. Excuse me, but it does
not affect the Nope, they were already at thirty five.
Speaker 3 (01:40:36):
They were at before that kick.
Speaker 4 (01:40:38):
Because of a Queland Smith blocking that extra point. Earlier,
I scored out was forty eight to thirteen. We're gonna
pause just for a moment. You're listening to Bishop David
Football West Shore Stadium. The score is forty eight thirteen.
Bishop be deaviit over Cedar Cliff here with Rob mcglez
Marty Bowman. I'm Jase C.
Speaker 5 (01:40:57):
Floyd. All right, Selby's listening and he'll be back the
voice of the Crusaders next Friday night as the Crusaders
take on Carlisle again. That'll be at Rock Roertensel Stadium.
And you can hear all our games. All bishoping Devon
games are on iHeartMedia, whether it's fourteen sixty or WHP
(01:41:17):
five eighty. Arellans lined up for the kick, balls down,
kick is up. It is long This one hits at
about the five rolls dead and about actually rolls out
of balance at about the five yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
Robby mentioned about Carlisle next week and then Altuna the
week after the game. I'm really looking forward to Altuna.
They really played It's tough last year. Now they've lost
that quarterback that I think they played so well against
this but I'm looking forward to it. For another reason,
the way the schedule has started so early. We're actually
(01:41:55):
going to go to Altuna in September right without should
not be much rent of weather.
Speaker 4 (01:42:01):
You know, I cannot remember, you know, even back in
the days when McDevitt was in the Commonwealth, you know,
thinking back to the late two thousand era, like two
thousand and six, seven, eight nine, you know, back when
Matt Johnson was a quarterback. It always seemed the times
we went out there in the regular season, it was
(01:42:22):
late October and it was blustery, it was chilly. It
was not great weather.
Speaker 5 (01:42:30):
And the Art always used to complain about that ride.
It was Altuna and State College, but mainly Altuona. He
hated making that ride.
Speaker 3 (01:42:41):
The thing at Art and I look forward to that
is the I hoop in State College on the way back.
Speaker 4 (01:42:49):
And here you go JC. Lots of fresh faces defensive line,
will Yost, Gabe Brops, and David Malotessen at Creighton Mills.
The linebackers are going to be Ethan Miller, Campbell Milch,
and Xavier McFarland. And we'll figure out the secondary after
this play.
Speaker 5 (01:43:08):
First and ten for Cedar Cliff handoff up the middle.
This time they wind their way through and they picked
up about eight and then there's another flag. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:43:18):
I don't know if this is going to be a hold. Yeah, yeah,
got a hold, yeah, Otero on the run. It looked
like Campbell Milch was the main guy the secondary. We
got Carlos Smith in there at safety, Jason Robinson number
(01:43:39):
forty in there, Austin Mack is the only starter still
in there, and the other corner is number forty eight,
Jonas Walton, who's a junior.
Speaker 3 (01:43:57):
Campbell Milch always mentioned a lot tonight, as you said,
he's one of the backers in there.
Speaker 5 (01:44:05):
First in about fourteen maybe fifteen, and the Crusader's run
up like they're gonna jam the box, and they do,
but they still are able to get it across the
thirty five out to about the thirty six. It looks
like we jammed the box on the right side and
they ran to the left, but they were able to
(01:44:25):
pick up about seven That will make it second down,
and about eight clock is ready with six minutes left
to go in the game.
Speaker 4 (01:44:41):
David mal testing and coming off the field here. I
don't know if he's got danged up or if it's
just an equipment thing.
Speaker 5 (01:44:51):
He took his helmet off.
Speaker 4 (01:44:52):
Looks like he's gonna be replaced by number eighty one
for mcdebit at defensive end, and that's Brian Stewart, six
to one, sophomore.
Speaker 5 (01:45:02):
All right. Second down, we lined the box on the
other side. They run to the left side, and this
time we were able to jam it up and I
think they barely made it back maybe a yard on
the play.
Speaker 4 (01:45:17):
Nice job by the senior defensive end, will yost Well
in that stop. He's one of the guys that is
often part of that rotation. So a third and long here, Crusaders,
second team unit here holding their own so far against
the uh The Colts, who still have their a lot
(01:45:40):
of their starters in including including the line.
Speaker 5 (01:45:44):
Third down, drops back three steps looking for a long
and this time it looks like they hit the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:45:50):
Yep, Campbell Milch on the on the quarterback hurry there,
hit hinting just as he was throwing the football.
Speaker 5 (01:46:00):
He still got it out there, but he wasn't able
to put much of a touch on it.
Speaker 4 (01:46:06):
So punning time and they're gonna give Ish Palmer and
break here the rest of the night. Mario looks like
Carlos Smith will be back deep at about his own
thirty Carlos, of course making a big hit earlier on
special teams on the coverage.
Speaker 5 (01:46:24):
He's left. This will hit about the thirty three and
it bounces back the other way. Ball will die at
the thirty six, where the Merusaders will have it. With
four twenty one left to go in this contest again,
forty eight to thirteen. Mishoul McDavid is ahead.
Speaker 4 (01:46:42):
I'm sure we're going to see the second offense here too,
and we are. I can see it right now on
the line coming in kl fight. The freshman will be
in here at quarterback for the second week in a row.
Six three one seventy five.
Speaker 5 (01:47:00):
Who's that left tackle?
Speaker 4 (01:47:02):
That is Eli Culpepper. He's the junior six five two eighty.
That's a big boy, Creighton Milch at fullback. Xavier McFarland,
the freshman at tailback.
Speaker 5 (01:47:16):
Hand off to the back of the on the right side,
takes it around a quarter to forty five out to
about the forty nine. That was just sweet right there.
Speaker 4 (01:47:26):
Yeah, that was Xavier McFarland. Marty and Art got to
call quite a few. I think he had nine carries
last week against Chambersburg.
Speaker 3 (01:47:34):
Very oppressing, just got it burst.
Speaker 4 (01:47:37):
One of the one of the talented young players in
this freshman class. You know, we talked about the var
chance Xavier McFarland. Of course Kale fight. Unfortunately we're not
seeing Laden Black, who's who's out for a few weeks.
But he's another one to keep your eye on from
(01:47:57):
that freshman class.
Speaker 5 (01:48:02):
All right, first and ten for the Crusaders. Ball up
the middle past to fifty forty five out to about
the forty three. That's that Davis.
Speaker 4 (01:48:12):
That is Creighton Mills Shake Mills, Okay, sophomore.
Speaker 5 (01:48:19):
And that is out to about the forty three yard
line of Cedar Cliff clock. Now two fifty one, still rolling,
(01:48:42):
But I have to say I'm very impressed we're seeing
the Crusaders tonight listening to you guys, you don't get
to take in all the little perceptives. Hand off on
the right side again this around two about Actually I'm
not sure if he actually made it back to the
line of scrimmage.
Speaker 4 (01:49:03):
That was Xavier McFarlane again.
Speaker 3 (01:49:05):
He actually proved Juman on that play. He couldn't run
through four blue jerseys in that one.
Speaker 4 (01:49:11):
It's four. Chapman next to us doing the game on
Penn Live and High School Sports Live is just telling
some great old stories. He was talking to Marty and
I earlier about the ninety six game here and just
a legendary and all time classics as the Crusaders came
over here and beat an undefeated Cedar Cliff team with
Coy Weier. Just an unbelievable, hard hitting game that night.
(01:49:36):
Great job by Mike Eisman and Brian Mani that night.
Speaker 5 (01:49:40):
So it's third down in about four yards to go,
a little swing playass out to the left and he's
able to get the ball to about the forty two
yard line, but not close enough for a first down.
Speaker 4 (01:49:51):
And that's the junior ls Kangtarath, which I don't know.
I gotta keep practicing. That name transfer in from Mannheim Central.
Speaker 5 (01:50:05):
So it's going to be fourth down. We need to
get the ball to about the forty one, and I
have to say it's about between the forty three and
forty four.
Speaker 4 (01:50:18):
Some of those Cedar Cliff teams back in the nineties,
you know, with krey Weyer, Tim Bobblick, just some great
teams under Bob Craig and mcdevin and then had some
real wars. And that ninety six game is as good
as any. When the Crusaders made their march back to
a second straight state playoff trying to defend their title,
but fell short that year.
Speaker 5 (01:50:37):
That's the name I remember, Bob Craig, and this time
we just really gave it up, tried to run around
the right side and slipped.
Speaker 4 (01:50:45):
Yeah, that was Benson dancing on the carry junior, and
he lost crown there.
Speaker 5 (01:50:53):
He went from the forty four out to about the
fifty and of course Rob, I go back.
Speaker 3 (01:50:58):
To the seventies, some early eighties, John Harris and harrisburd High,
some tremendous games over here. Cediar Cliff. Name that always
comes to mind is Craig Critchley, and I remember they
beat us and pretty certainly beat us on a flanker
(01:51:22):
pass for they ripped it out to the flanker and
it wasn't you know, it was still in the backfield
right and double pass at double pass.
Speaker 5 (01:51:30):
Ship hand off up the middle, off tackle and this
ball is out from about the fifty all the way
out to about the forty two. And this is it.
We're calling it. It's a rap, Mom, I'm coming home.
Final score Mishoi Devid forty eight, Cedar Cliff thirteen. We'll
(01:51:56):
be back at the postgame show coming up Pure on
News Radio fourteen to sixty. Fox Sports. Harris Burt, you know,
I'm lucky if I get to see the Crusaders once
a year. When I get to come to the stadium,
aren't always gives me one game. And I've been pressed.
I've been pressed. I think that at this stage of
the game, we look good. A lot of protection, a
(01:52:19):
lot of games, a lot of stuff still to work on,
but we look good. Take us back to tonight's game, Robin,
