guys. Last week, Bish McDevittone of the better games we've ever seen

here. Bish McDevitt defeated to PaulCatholic forty six forty two. Crusaders trailed
thirty five twenty at the half,took the game over in the third quarter,
had to come from behind one lasttime, and then the defense made
a big stop and then the offensewas able to pretty much run the clock
out. They did have to turnthe boy over one or Tom after a
very questionable penalty at the end ofthe game, as mcdevit had the pun

but then they would stop the PaulCatholic and mcdeva had win forty six forty
two. Tonight a rematch of ateam mcdevit has played the last two years.
Already. Two years ago here Lasaucame in and beat mcdevit twenty one
and often the one name I remembered, Stevie Davis, had a big game
against Bishop mcdevit. A freshman camein scored two touchdowns in that game.

Last year, though McDevitt went downthere returned to favor as the Crusaders won
fifty six to seven. You know, Art, you look at this,
this could really develop you know,schedule permitting into a really really nice,
you know rivalry. I think bothteams are very satisfied with the way things
are going, and i've heard Lasois and it can turn into a nice
rivalry. Two good teams. Beneficialfor both teams. Even though Lassal's playing

down as far as to a foureight team, but just to beat a
program like McDevitt is big for them. Mcdevit obviously playing up. They beat
Sal helps their points in the districtand so on and so forth. Expect
a really dynamite game tonight, especiallyhopefully this the sun gets down on the
heat, let's up a little bitand you know, we don't see a

lot of cramping and things like that. But yeah, just a great game.
I'm a McDevitt and I think andyou'll hear Coach Wector is very proud
of the heart the kids have hadin the first two games. I mean,
there's mistakes and you can work thoseout, but it's kind of difficult
to give somebody a heart, andthese kids have really shown heart, as
he says, the heart of achampion. You should mention they moved the

state teams and we feel we're atthat level on a national scale. That
I mean, we're ranked in thetop one hundred again in high school football
American am mask preps is to getout and you know all we heat here

is North Jersey Pathic League. Howgood All those teams are Burgon Catholic And
you know, we had a chanceto play at the Paul who was going
into the game the third ranked teamin all of New Jersey. And when
you look at some of the SouthJersey like Middleville and then North Jersey like
Saint Peter's Prep and Burgon Catholic andDon Bosco, You're like, yeah,
you know. So it was along ride, especially on the Labor Day

weekend. It took us about threehours and forty five minutes to get there.
Yeah, we came out a littlebit flat, especially on defense.
But that was a very good team. I would I would say in my
twenty six years here, that's thetop five team. We faced a lot
of town. I mean it's notoften you get teams that have as much,

you know, especially the last twothree years as Divisional one town as
US. I mean, how quipI had that this team had probably more
Divisional one kids than US, andyou know, they're big, they were
fast quarterback to throw, I mean, two big time receivers. The running
back I was very, very impressedwith. Defensively, they were very good.
Uh So to come out of there, you know, be down thirty

five twenty a halftime, we justmade really one adjustment on defense. We
just had to get our guys tostart playing. You know. We talked
about, you know, being astate champion and being in the heart of
a champion, and our guys showedit again, you know, to come
back the way we did. Defenseget a great job of the second half.
We had given up seven points,We got two turnovers, We didn't

turn over the ball. You know, we got some run game going against
a very good defensive front. Youknow, we had the passing game.
Could have more in the passing game. You know, up in New Jersey,
they don't call defensive holding very much. They did once or twice,
but they could have called them almostevery play we throw a pass on.
But you know, we had tolearn the plants like that, you know.

I mean it was a small littlestadium. Their fans were right up
against our sideline talking all kinds ofsmack. Their their team was talking crap
to us before the game, duringthe game, their one coach was talking
crap to us at halftime. Soit was a real sweet victory for US.
Uh, you know, it's agood win. You know, I
would tell you I'm checking it out. You know, been here to twenty

six years and have a lot ofwins. To me, that was a
signature win for our program on thenational scale. And uh, you know,
he probably a top five win sinceI've been here. So it was
good for us. And uh,you know, the only thing I didn't
like is, you know, let'sjust say I have a newfound appreciation for

Pennsylvanian officiating and we'll leave it atthat. So thirty five, twenty and
a half, you really say,not a lot of adjustments as more.
You just had to challenge these guysyou talked about they have the heart of
a you know lin Or you hadChampion, Yeah, Champion. You just
had to challenge him a little bit. Yeah, I mean it just and
more defensively, I was pretty pleased. I mean that was a very very

good defensive team. You know,they had a corner that has Penn State
offer. They have another kid inthe secondary with an offer. Uh,
they were big and fast up front. They did some very good They were
very well coached. They did somethings very schematically that we didn't expect.
And you know, with our youngoffensive line making the adjustments like they did
in Mount Saint Joseph's, that's noteasy if you have an experienced line,

now you have five new starters andyou're trying to make some adjustments on the
fly. They did a great job, so you know, again, it
just it was a big win forus. A new running back transferred in
from moved up here from Philly,Zira Jones Davis. He adds a little
bit to the run game. Yeah, I mean it's he's kind of like

the uh, you know, MaraiceBarnes will be the thunder for us,
and and he's kind of like theyou know, the the lightning a little
bit or vice versa. He's alittle bit different type of runner than than
Maurice. Will give us really reallya nice tandem because I think Maurice has

his where he's strength running and thenwe call him swoops. He goes by
swoops, not the zer. Youknow, we're saying in his ear.
Most of our guys don't even knowwho that is. He swoops, so
swift springs kind of a whole differentset. Like some of the things that
he doesn't do quite as well,Race does well. So I think as

the year goes on, it's gonnabe a nice one to tandem with the

Okay, one more thing before welooked at tonight. Rob and Art
last week gave the offensive line thePlayer of the Game award, And is

the line coming faster than what youmay be expected. I mean, they're
doing what they need to do rightnow. I mean, to be honest,
I mean, they're not anywhere closeto where I want them, but
they're further along than I thought therewould be at this time. I thought
it'd be probably about we we fiveor six if they'd be playing like this,
and I thought by the end ofthe regular season they'd be really good.
I'm not sure people that sit inthe stands realize how good of defensive

fronts. The first two we saw, I mean Mount Saint Josephs had two
Division one defensive ends, and theirinside guys were pretty good, and their
linebackers were big and good. ThePaul was bigging up front, you know,
and we we kind of found oneguy we wanted to kind of run
out about a spread number nine,but you know, we thought we didn't

even see it. Number forty fouron the scrimmage tape we got from them
was a scrimmage tabe and I youknow, Jake Minnick said to uh,
next logic after the game, andwe gotta work a little bit on your
down blocks. You know, thatdefensive end Jacob nickoes listen that it was
really strong and he was a sophomore. So I'm not sure people understand what

we have gone against. And bothof them have thrown fronts at us that
we have not seen from them anddidn't practice. And as I've said before,
as even with the experienced line likewe had last year, when people
gave us some different things, wedidn't practice. You know, it took
a little adjust with kids with threeyears starters. Now you've talk on five
new starters of having to make thoseadjustments. I'm really pleased where they're at.

You know, they still need toget a lot better, but at
this point, I'm pretty pleased wherethey're at. The South Prep coming in
tonight, thirty year that we've seenthem in a row. They wait washed
it twenty one oh here or twoyears ago. Last year really kind of
laid it on them. Have youhad to remind the kids that this is
less sou Prep just because we threwfifty one him last year. Whatever you
had to do this week with thekids that way. Yeah, I've talked

every day to him about this.I mean you're looking. I mean I've
told him. I just told himyesterday and walk through is. You know,
they're proud football organization like us.They want to stay titled before also
just like us, and just likeus, if somebody beat us fifty six
seven, we would be couldn't waitwhen we worked, you know, like

we worked against al Quipball all lastseason, all season. They're working for
us. They're a better team thanthey were last year. We kind of
called them they were a little beatup. They got a couple of transfers
in that really helped them. Andyou know, so it's gonna be a
big game tonight. We got tocome to playoff. We don't, we'll
lose, you know, so I'mhoping that they get that, you know,

but they're sixteen, seventeen, eighteenyear old kids. You never know
what you're gonna get. Two weeksago we talked, we didn't really know
what we're going to get for threeweeks. You know, it could have
been a combination of any oh threeage one twos, two ones, three
os, whatever. You got twothirds of the way there. What do
you need to do tonight to maybesee you off that third winning? In
his comment, I mean again,you look at a difference. We had

to come from behind against Mount SaintJoseph's. We turned the ball over twice.
One was a direct touchdown by themfor them on a fumble. The
other one, if we don't dropthe ball that got intercepted and if you
don't trip they go up by theywould have scored another touchdown. But two
is if we catch the ball,that was a touchdown, So that could

have been a fourteen point swing.If you look at last week, we
had zero turnovers, they had two. Those two turnovers we scored on both
of them. One was a defensiveinterception, the other one fumble. One
we went sixty yards and scored atouchdown. But you know, in a
big game like this, it's alwaysturnover battle. I mean, if you

even look at the uh, youknow, the state championship game, what
swung mat kept screen interception that setup for a touchdown. So and we
you know, we turned it overand kept them in the game a little
bit. But you know that kindof set the tongue, and so you
know, it's always in a biggame, you know, you got to
get some turnovers. And we hadnone in the sat Mount Saint Josephs,

but we had to. Last weekwe had none and they had too.
So you know that, you knowthey have a rogue quarterback. You know,
face this last year as a freshman, he's gotten a lot better.

got two good receivers that came in. One Jules McFadden. He's a real

deal. Number three, he's realgood. Uh. And then you know
we all remember, you know,we did a pretty good job of him

Rutgers didn't play and we're thinking,all right, and then here comes this

freshman nobody knew about and he ranall over. So you know we have
to do that. You know.Defensively, they do a lot of good
things, So you know, Ilike to get the running game going,
lash and pass a little bit,you know, other than the touchdown St.
Joseph's. You know, we gotget better on the screen game,
which will come because that's a timingthing. So those are some of the
