Speaker 1 (00:00):
A brand change we'll discuss as we take complete out
of history with Ingles Markets. In July of seventeen seventy six,
the Declaration of Independence was adopted. By September the document
had been officially printed, signed by all the delegates, and
sent to Great Britain. The declaration had already become practiced
as Warren sued in the colonies, specifically Boston, Montreal, Quebec,
and New York. During this time, the term United Colonies

(00:20):
had been widely used by the people, politicians, and newspapers,
but was never made an official name. In June of
seventeen seventy six, Richard Henry Lee introduced a resolution to
the Continental Congress that stated, these United Colonies are, and
of right ought to be free and independent states. That
resolution was adopted on July second, but almost forgotten in
history due to the fourth of July when Thomas Jefferson's

(00:40):
edited Declaration of Independence was adopted. Finally, on September ninth,
seventeen seventy six, the Continental Congress gave the new country
a name. The declaration stated that in all Continental Commissions
and other instruments where heretofore, the words United Colonies have
been used this style only be altered for the future.
To the United States, this has been a bite out
of history with Ingles Martin kits
