Engles markets. It's nineteen forty eight. World War two has ended and the
Soviets went the Allies out of Berlin, the Soviet States of blockade that cuts
off all land and sea routes toWest Berlin and essentially trapping two million people
with no food, fuel, meds, or other life sustaining supplies. President
Truman will not allow a military response, afraid that it may spark yet another

World war. Instead, the UnitedStates began the Berlin Airlift. Planes took
off from England and Germany loaded downto the full gross weights. Crews scraped
everything and everything that was not neededto keep the plane in the air to
reduce weight. They were airlifting eightthousand tons of supplies a day and using
planes that had already just barely surviveda world war. Planes were landing every
four minutes around the clock, andit was the largest supply airlift in history.
