Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up Dynasas to girl Alexandria Akamoni in the studio,
iHeartRadio with Regene Carter.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
And we have Toya Johnson Russian. How are you doing today?
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Hey good, I'm so happy to have you guys in
the studio. By the way, thank you for having us
absolutely of course, also the brown I'm just noticing it
both in brown.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yes, the melanine is making it pops. I'm for this. Yes,
somewhere somewhere it makes sense. It makes sense. Okay, we
all planned this, all three of us.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
But we are here to talk about season two of
Toya and Reginee super excited about it.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
It actually is now premiering. Tell me more about how
it feels to be back for another season.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
It feels good to be bad fun not this season.
You know, you go in, you sign up for the show,
and then you know, to see the success of the
show and you're able to come back and do it again,
So that feels really good.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, yeah, it definitely feels good.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
And then also, you know, we're very related, so just
being able to be out there and where people can
relate to things and be like, oh wait, pick and choose,
like which family member. They are like, it's good getting
those d ms like oh I have a bed in
my family or my family.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
It is just good to see that people can re Absolutely,
it's definitely different versus other reality shows where it's like, okay,
we're watching it, but from a different level.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Versus it's just like, yes, you can.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
See yourself in this situation because it is so For
season two, how would you describe it? If you can
pick three words to describe this season, what would those
three words be.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
I would say vulnerable. I would say very emotional. I
would say in fun. We had a lot of fun moment.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
I would say chaotic. Different words, maybe informative. I feel
like you learn a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
And it's real real, Yeah, I love that. I'm gonna
pick a word from both of you. Guys. Why do
you think it's chaotic?
Speaker 4 (02:03):
Because with family, how can you not have care's there's
a lot of chaos with family, especially my mom. You're
gonna see she got this family reunion to go. I'm
not gonna even say much, but when the family reunions happened,
that's when so I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yes, and we got sneak peaks.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
I think with the trailers, it was about to go down,
and for you vulnerable?
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Why do you think so.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Because you know we open up on another level. You know,
you see our life, but you don't see the vulnerability.
Like you know, us just sharing certain moments in our
lives that you know you wouldn't expect to share with
the world. But when you're feeling a reality show, things
happen and life start life in so you have no
choice what to just go with it, and it's like
(02:48):
you want to be real and you know they're capturing
your vulnerability during that time.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Absolutely, And you were just talking about this. You know
you're going to see things that you wouldn't expect or
haven't seen before.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Tell me something, what will.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
People see this season that they have not seen about
from you or don't know about you?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Just mean one thing from you, guys, I.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Would say, for me, I have this. I had this
sibling a chance to do a sibling reunion. My dad
have over twenty kids, so I was able to bring
all of my dad's kids together, so you can only
imagine how that went. So I don't think the world
knew I had that many siblings.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah, I didn't know that. Yes, So you know and
to see.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Everybody together in one room and just that was pretty
special for me.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Absolutely, you're going to see me behind the scenes. I
just I was filming a movie. It actually just came
out last month. It's called Nothing Even Matters or Peacock.
But you're gonna see me behind the scenes. Just how
just tapping into my work ethics and also seeing me
move to LA, seeing how like I maneuver with that,
(03:56):
how my mom feels about the move, just everything like that.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
I love it And I'm gonna ask more about the
movie in a few minutes, so hold tight right there.
But I do also want to talk about mentioned family
in some way, shape or form. I got to mention
the love just a little bit.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Reginae. Starting off with you, we know that some.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Man is behind the camera with taking pictures on some
of these trips and places you're going to.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Where are we today? Do we have a name for
this man? Does he still exist?
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Like what's going on? You see everything unfold on this show.
But I can't say that your girl is singer?
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Oh mom, how do you feel at the end of
the day.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
I just want her to be happy. And you know,
if you try something, it does not work. No, move
on't see it in misery.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Okay, understandable because I was also going to ask, if
there wasn't a man, would you rekindle any of your relationships?
Speaker 2 (04:49):
And then don't see in the block?
Speaker 4 (04:51):
You know, I don't feel like ex is a exper reason.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Okay, I don't.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
I don't see me rekindling anything.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Can I ask what happened? Is the two personal? If
I asked.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
With this most recent person that we don't even know
the name of but doesn't exist anymore, give my ex
most recent.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
I just feel like, you know, people grow apart, and
I feel like we started so strong and we grew apart.
Like it, But I still I still wish him the best.
I feel like he's a great man.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
And yeah, we'll take the politically correct answer. I'm kady,
I'm kidding, I'm kiddy. I'm kidding now, Miss Johnson Rushing.
I got to ask about you married life.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
How is it? How's it going? Because we do see
those moments on the show too. Yeah, I would say
it's going good. Oh nothing, that's perfect.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
This season you get to see uh me and my
husband relationship on a working level. Yeah, also on a
fitness studio, so we work together, and you know when
you work with your partner, how things could be. You know,
you know, you have to always be on one page
because if somebody does something that the other person all
like it, it turns into you know, craziness. So you
(06:05):
know what that plays out on the show. We actually
had one of those moments and it got a little crazy,
and it's just showing how to balance, like you know,
that like balance that you know, working together and being married.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Of course, and I'm asking this, I promise in a
non shady way, but I'm sure there are moments where
it's like I just want to chuck up the deuces
and be gone.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
Right.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Everyone says this in marriage, like there's always those moments.
How do you overcome those moments within your marriage?
Speaker 3 (06:34):
I mean if you love the person and most importantly
I feel like when you married. This is my take
on marriage.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Yes, bring my post ahead.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah, my take on marriage is when you are married
to someone, you also have to be friends with them.
You know what I'm saying, because sometimes I might not
like you, but you are my friend.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
I love you.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
You are my friend, and it goes beyond like us
just having like you know, intimacy or like things like that,
like I want to be It's like you have to
talk to your friends sometimes. So I believe in building
a friendship first and then falling in love. I love it,
you know, So you know things are better cause it's
like you go home, you mad, and it's like I
(07:17):
want to tell my friends.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
It's like I gotta tell them. I got to who
else am I going to tell? R?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
So you develop that friendship and then things just flow,
you know, even when you just feel like you want
to throw off the juice and it's like I still
want to call my friend. Of course, of course, that
that helps in a relationship is building a friendship first.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
And that's beautiful to hear for sure.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
And speaking of I mean, e Reginda, you see beautiful
relationships and marriages around you. Do you feel like marriage
is something like you would want at some point in life?
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Or it's I love love.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
I don't know that these little knucklehead boys is kind
of scaring us out.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Here, but a little, just a little. But I know
my husband is out there. Yes, I'm excited for you. Okay.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
So so now that we're single, of course, every relationship
or person you date, there are lessons to be learned.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
What are you looking for?
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Like, what do you feel like would make the most
sense for you and your next partner or and your husband,
if you will.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
I have learned a lot about myself over these past
couple of months, and to be honest, I think I
have a lot of changing you do, and a lot
of growing up to do to actually be to actually
want to be in a relationship with somebody. I don't
think that I ever gave myself time and like really
from previous relationships, I never sat down and really like, Okay,
(08:34):
had this time to yourself date in your twenties, date
if you won't, but stoppers footing all of these boys
and making them your boyfriend. But it's like that's what
I'm trying to So I'm really looking well when it
is that time, just somebody that's respectful, that knows how
to treat a lady and a gentleman, and someone that
just pushes me to be better, to like, don't let
(08:55):
me do anything like you know, also push me to
be better, and I'll push you to be better.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Of course, of course, now it's tooya here, I gotta
ask for mom perspective. Of course, you know your daughter's grown.
But what, like, what would you like for her to
have as far as like a partner or person, Like,
what would you really want to really stand next to
your daughter? Because she's a powerful, amazing woman herself, and
some like you said, knuckleheads are out here.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
So what would you want for your daughter?
Speaker 3 (09:22):
A positive, amazing guy that's gonna respect her one, you know,
somebody that's more stable, somebody.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
She can learn from.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
You know, like it's so many people out here that
is just first of all, they kind of get intimidated
because of who her dad is or different things. I
want how to get to a guy to come in
her life that's like, you know, strong and just a
good guy that's gonna protect that heart.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
I love it. I have to love it.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Protect that heart. That's so important. So let's talk business
for a second, if we can. Now First starting off
with you acting career that we have flourishing, Like you said,
the movie just came out on Peacock. Tell me more
about like that excitement that I'm sure you're feeling right now.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
First of all, I love actings.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
I just feel like I love tapping into different characters
and then making them become me. Acting is not about acting.
It's about tapping into that character and making them feel like, dang, does.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
She go through that through her life? Hello? Like that
is what it is.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
So I am so proud of how my performance was
on nothing even matters. I have two movies that I
did not too long ago, probably like a year or
two ago, called Boxton one and Boxton Two, and I
just see the growth and I love that. I love
when I can pinpoint and be like, oh okay.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Nay, you kind of get to love that. I love it.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Oh yeah, And you have done a few different roles.
What would you like to play in the future, like
a role that you haven't done before?
Speaker 2 (10:49):
What does that look like for you?
Speaker 4 (10:50):
So this question is so cute to me because I
am such like an optimist that I want to play
any role that's outside of me, like anything that's outside
of the norm of what I've ever been through, like
someone like maybe someone who's had to struggle and go
(11:11):
through like like I want to tap into that person
because it also not not not only am I learning
from it, but it's humbling me as well, and I'm
learning as well. So I would love to do that
and like a superhero Oh.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Yes, yes, visualize it just now.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
That's exciting.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Okay, M'stoya talking about Wait No More the training facility.
Is that still your focus or are there other things
you would like to really explore this year?
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Well, you know, wait No More is definitely one of
my focus. I also have my before Bedheads buying a brand. Yes,
I'm also an author. I'm working on a new book
now called Well. I don't know if I should say
just show.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Me, can I?
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Okay, Well, I'm planning to drop it with the season
finale of the show. So yeah. But it's it's pretty interesting.
It's just sharing my well might as well. It's called
forty Kicking My Ass. I love it, and it's basically
I journaled my whole year of me being forty. And
when I tell you, forty was one of those years
(12:16):
for me. You know, I used to say ooh, when
I turned forty, blah blah blah, all of this, But
surprisingly my forty, when I turned forty, it's just like
everything just start happening, like things with my family, things
with my health, things with you know, just everything. It
was just I was just going through so much during
that time, and I was at such a dark place,
(12:40):
you know, but I still managed to pull it together
and and I just decided to turn it into a
book like journal that whole experience for me and following
my growth, you know, And it.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Sounds like it's gonna be very vulnerable, so we appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
So I'm just gonna ask here, what is the biggest
lesson you have learned since turning forty and of course beyond.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
The biggest lesson I have learned is to set healthy
boundaries with the people you love and to always remember
that you cannot change no one you Because my thing
is like not that I I like, you know, feel
like I can change people, but I'm always wanting to
see the best, you know, people be better and do better,
(13:20):
but not everybody want that for themselves or whatever. And
it's like I just be trying to avoid people from
that I love, from making mistakes that I've made before,
or teach them lessons. But in life, you have to
touch the fire to you know, you know that's hot,
You're gonna run them, so they have to learn on
their own. So my biggest lesson for myself is to
(13:41):
just you know, just take care of you, protect you,
and set those boundaries love it.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Boundaries are very important, very very very bad.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
So tell me what from both of you guys perspective,
biggest thing you guys want to accomplish this year, Like,
what can we expect from you guys? Of course you
have so much going on constantly, but tell me one
thing you want to see happen when December twenty twenty
five comes around.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
December twenty twenty five, I want to find a way
to cross out of my lane, which is the things
that I've been comfortable with for so long and step
into like something different and something new. I'm a woman
of like empowerment. I love to reach out and help
other women women, whether it's putting us all in a
room to get us to network too, you know, just
(14:27):
just push girl power on another level. I do a
lot of different events like that. I also have a
company I started called Sister I Celebrate You, where I
celebrate women that you know, just give them their flowers
and you know, to kind of lift them up. But
I would love to do something where I'm using my
platform in a different way to take things to the
(14:48):
next level outside of reality TV and the things that
you've been seeing me do for the past few years.
I just want to like expand and just do something different,
just crossovers.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
I'll be fine. We can't wait to see that actually
happened this year. So super excited about that. It's Virgina.
What do we have going on?
Speaker 4 (15:03):
I always say the same one to you know, expand
my brand, my clothing line. I have a clothing line
called I Fit In. I want to expand that. I
also want to like start getting into it's a fitness
line for women. I want to like start branching off
and doing like men kids like stuff like that. Also
acting more acting, more auditions. I actually was in an
(15:26):
acting class last the end of last year and it
was my first acting class ever really and I had
an amazing time. So I definitely want to just start
getting back in my acting and just being healthy.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Okay, that's important health as well. Yes, social In twenty
twenty five, we know we're also getting older too, Like
I don't know what you I'm in my twentiesh my
knees hurt us a little bit.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Wait till you get in forty, ye, we really just
start breaking down.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
That's the biggest lesson you approved like love your body
and take care of it before you're forty.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
I love it. Okay.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
So before we get on out of hair, just a
quick little game for you guys I.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Got from TikTok.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
I don't know who started this, but I did want
to have that whole who eats the more, who does
the more kind of situation between the two of you.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Guys.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
I don't think I have to close your eyes because
you know it doesn't make sense, but I have a
few questions for you guys, just to see who thinks
what of who? Okay, all right, first question? Who is
the most athletic?
Speaker 2 (16:25):
The most are you? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:29):
Come on?
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Wait, no more? Okay, okay, we love it. Okay. Who
eats the most?
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Nay?
Speaker 1 (16:42):
M okay, okay, all right? Who has the best hairstyles? Me?
Speaker 2 (16:48):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
You guys both have amazing hair cells. By the way,
you guys always slay. I have to put that out there.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Who has the best sense of humor?
Speaker 4 (16:55):
Me?
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Oh my goodness, you're killing it. Okay. Who is the
most affectionate?
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Me?
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Really, Mom, she is not affection She don't want her lie.
I'm not that affectionate. I'm more affectionate. Do you agree?
I'm a sagittary?
Speaker 1 (17:13):
So y'all just a little changes a little Yeah, I
can't deny or agree. Who would you say has the
best sense of style?
Speaker 2 (17:25):
I mean she, my mam. I get it from her.
I'll give it to it. Okay, I was gonna say,
you girl, I love it, see affectionate. Yeah, yeah, you
got that style though, I love it. Who has attached
to their phone more?
Speaker 4 (17:38):
Mmm? My mom?
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Really?
Speaker 4 (17:40):
M hm?
Speaker 2 (17:41):
You think so?
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Oh yeah, it's bad. It's to a point where it's
like I'll be talking to her and I'll be like, ma, ma,
that's what I will only say. Maybe I'll probably be
she Maybe maybe I just be focused.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
On what I'm focus more.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
That's still attachment. So me, okay, all right, who's the
best driver? Me?
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Like this girl, I got to push my own brakes
and everything. Regid you get an accident?
Speaker 4 (18:08):
No, okay, but guess what though you.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Don't we appreciate the safety?
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Most polite? Who is the most polite? Okay? Okay? Who
is the best cook?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Me?
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Okay? And then learn all these.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Like so I'm gonna go ahead and give her that
her because she's coming out with all of the three
stuff and and I have my same meals.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
She made gumbo and it was good, so.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Okay, I could never do yes. Gumbo is like if
you know what I mean, Okay, you're there. Last one
who would move to a new country first me.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
I love it, I love it all right.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
Well, we are super excited about Toy and Regiende, available
now on we TV.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Virgine Carta and Toya Johnson rushing.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
We appreciate you guys from coming into the studio. Absolutely
once again, Alexandra Kaimoni in the studio.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
iHeartRadio
